What does this hub cover?

How do the shed cards differ?

A garden shed search mixes walk-in buildings, resin boxes, timber cabinets and fabric tents. Metal, plastic, wood, resin stores and metal tool stores are separate cards because the floor, the lock and the internal centimetres do not transfer from one to the next. A feet label on the title is not that internal size. Planning rules for an outbuilding depend on height and where it sits, and those checks stay on the shed pages.

What is the difference between ground cover and a root barrier?

Ground cover is a membrane you lay flat under a bed, bark or gravel so weeds have a harder time coming through. A root barrier is a vertical sheet or a set of panels in a trench, used to keep running bamboo inside a line or to steer tree roots off paving. A thin weed sheet is not a bamboo barrier, and a root barrier is not a mulch mat. Read the stated height before you open the root-barrier card.

Does a bird net, a grease band and a snail fence do the same job?

They do not. Bird netting is mesh over fruit, seed or a pond. A grease band is a sticky band on a fruit-tree trunk for insects that crawl up the bark, such as winter moth. A snail fence is a barrier around a bed, a pot or one plant. Covering a crop is not a licence to harm wild birds. Open the card that matches the animal, then read the mesh size or the barrier type.

Can one product clean a patio and seal it?

A stone cleaner and a stone sealer are different products. Liquids, a pressure-washer head, pumice and a cup wheel do not do the same job, and acid on some sandstone can leave a mark that does not wipe off. A sealer is for sound, dry masonry after cleaning, and a can sold for brick is not automatically a sandstone patio sealer. An electric joint brush clears joints. It does not replace a cleaner or a sealer.

Will an insect screen clean the patio or stop a fall?

A mesh does not clean sandstone, limestone or concrete, and it does not remove algae. Those jobs sit on the stone cleaner card. Measure the clear opening before you order a cut sheet, a magnetic frame or a door screen. Do not treat the mesh as fall protection. If the risk is a fall from a window, use a restrictor, not a fly screen.

Where should you start?

Start with the job in front of you. Storage starts with what must fit inside, in centimetres, then the material. A frost forecast points to fleece. Weeds in paving joints point to a brush. Running bamboo points to a root barrier, not a weed membrane. Green film on an ornament is a soft brush and water, which is a different job from a patio lance.
