Patio surface cleaner: the head, the fit and the price

A patio surface cleaner is a round head for a pressure washer, not a chemical. The Nilfisk large head is £77.98; the £49.99 mid cleaner is a different product.
On this page

You already own a pressure washer, and the next tab is a round head with "patio" in the title. The results beside it are bottles. A patio surface cleaner is the head: a covered deck of spinning jets on a wand, fed by the washer you already have. It contains no chemical, and it does nothing until that washer is connected and switched on.
The head priced here is the Nilfisk Large Power Patio Cleaner, model 128500954, amazon.co.uk ASIN B096N7BZ9V. The listing we used showed £77.98 and a score of 4.1 from 448. Nilfisk's shop also sells a mid patio cleaner at £49.99 with a 250 mm deck, and that mid cleaner is a different product.
The score, the £77.98 and the compatibility names come from that amazon.co.uk listing. The £49.99 comes from Nilfisk's page for the mid cleaner. The 500–1200 psi patio band, and the line about attachments around £50, come from Which?. We did not lab-test the head. In short
A patio surface cleaner is a round head for a pressure washer you already own, and the large Nilfisk, model 128500954, was £77.98 on the listing we used. Nilfisk's £49.99 mid cleaner is a different product with a 250 mm deck, so a price near £50 is a different tool. Buyers report less splash and a faster pass than a rotary lance, alongside poor fit on some machines, streaks, stone-damaged jets and weak results on tarmac moss.
A patio surface cleaner is a head, not a bottle
The search covers two products, and the one in this basket is mechanical. A patio cleaner attachment is a round deck on a wand, and the jets spin while your washer supplies the water. A bottle in the same results is a liquid you dilute and leave to dwell. The Nilfisk listing shows a wand of about 60 inches and a blue body, while a bottle shows millilitres.
The head earns its money when the dirt is sitting on flat paving: mud, a green film, and the greying a British winter leaves on flags. You walk the deck across the slabs and the jets rinse as you go. There is no soak time, because there is nothing to leave down.
Lichen black spot and cured cement haze both survive that rinse, so they sit outside what this head is for. Spending £77.98 to discover that is the expensive miss. The stone cleaner comparison sets a wash head next to cleaners sold for stone. The chemical versus jet-wash page argues the same choice before you pay.
What you gain over a lance
A lance puts the full jet on one tight spot, and the stone keeps a stripe if you leave it there. A round patio cleaner covers a disc and moves with you, so the water spreads across the flags. You trade reach into a corner, a gully and the gap under a step for a wider pass on open paving.
One owner in the UK reviews of B096N7BZ9V reported less splash and a faster job than a rotary lance. That is one person's report, and we did not time a patio, so there is no minutes-per-square-metre claim here. What you can use is narrower: less water thrown back at your legs, and a pass wider than a single nozzle.
You still set the pressure. Which? puts patio washing at about 500–1200 psi, roughly 34–83 bar, while the listing maximum of 2000 psi, about 138 bar, is only the top the accessory is listed to accept. This pressure washer surface cleaner has no pump and no regulator. On a washer whose lowest setting already sits above 1200 psi, the deck only hides the lance.
Fit, wand length and the compatibility list
The practical question is whether this patio surface cleaner fits a Nilfisk Core. Model 128500954 is listed for Premium, Excellent, Core and Compact, so the page claims a Core, but UK reviews of the same ASIN say that list is still wrong for some machines. We did not repeat the fit on a Core or any other model. Match the connector in the listing photos to the lance you already use, because a head that almost fits will leak or blow off under pressure.
The wand is about 60 inches, roughly 1.5 metres, which reaches about that far onto a flat patio from the edge where you stand. A deeper run means you step onto the slabs or buy a longer lance, and some buyers did buy one separately, outside the £77.98. If you are tall, or the paving falls away, a short wand lets the deck tilt. One side digs in, and the streak shows once the stone dries.
Another Nilfisk, and any other brand, sits outside those four names. A review that says the head did not fit should outweigh the bullet for that machine. Match the photo, or leave ASIN B096N7BZ9V where it is.
This listing's price, and the other Nilfisk head
Two Nilfisk prices get merged, and only one belongs to this head. The listing calls the head blue and gives China as the country of manufacture. Those lines identify the product. They are not a score for how it washes.
Nilfisk's own shop lists a mid patio cleaner at £49.99, with a 250 mm deck and a Click&Clean connection. That SKU is a different product from B096N7BZ9V, and the 250 mm figure belongs to the mid cleaner alone, because the large listing does not state a diameter. Which? says attachments are often around £50, which lands near £49.99 and about £28 below this large head. If a guide says "about £50" under a wide deck, look for model 128500954 before you trust the price.
The stone cleaner shortlist sets a mechanical head next to liquids, so £77.98 is judged against a bottle only when you remember they do different jobs. Shelf prices move, so read the live amazon.co.uk price before you order. Pay this figure when the ASIN is B096N7BZ9V and the model is 128500954.
Streaks, grit and moss on tarmac
UK reviews of this listing still report streaks. The deck hides the jets, so the line shows as the paving dries. Overlap the next pass while the edge is wet, and keep one pace along the patio. A second pass at higher pressure, meant to blend the line, cuts the slab.
Stones sit behind many of those lines. The same reviews say grit damages the jets, and a nicked nozzle then writes the rest of the job. Sweep the flags before you connect the hose, including mortar joints and the grit where the lawn meets the slabs. If one jet looks tighter when you tip the deck up, stop and clear it. More pressure will not repair the nozzle.
Reviews also call this head weak on tarmac moss. A round deck skims a flat face, and it does not pull a thick mat out of a driveway. If that mat is why you are shopping, £77.98 is a poor spend, while a green film on smooth slabs is the closer job. Check a dried patch before you finish, because wet stone hides a pale line.
When a chemical is the better spend
Buy this head when three things are true together. The washer is one of the four named Nilfisk ranges and the connector matches. The slabs are flat enough for a deck on a wand of about 1.5 metres to sit level, and the dirt is loose or a film that water can shift. Drop one of the three and the £77.98 is early.
Black spot and cement haze should send you away from this ASIN. A spinning jet rinses the face of the slab, and both lichen in the stone and a cement film from a new install are still there when it dries.
The head spreads the jet and still delivers the washer's setting. Sandstone needs the pressure chosen for the stone. For a mossy drive, or a washer you cannot turn down, leave B096N7BZ9V on the shelf.
