Best slug barrier UK: which listing fits

Updated: 22 October 2026

You have a small salad bed, three hostas, or a gap by the greenhouse, and the row with hundreds of stars is the one you almost buy. A best slug barrier, in this set, is a listing whose size you can read and whose reviews match the job, with a named reason to leave it. The [snail fence comparison](/hub/garden-supplies/snail-fence) holds the ten listings and the score method. A qualifying purchase from that page can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Peter F. read those amazon.co.uk files and the public UK pages named below. Nobody here ran a slug trial on these products.

No trophy in this set

The score is amazon.co.uk stars, scaled, plus a review-count band, plus a mark for whether the listing agrees with itself. It is not a count of slugs stopped. Wisley still has no winning home barrier. A Which? Gardening trial, as reported in the Telegraph, found no useful effect from copper tape or a plastic barricade, and it did not test these products. The top pick is TOONGEEN at about £9.99 with 4.3 from 409 reviews. Best value is the FACIACC 12 m roll at about £8.99, once that top pick, the about £6.59 roll a reviewer called coloured plastic, and the 6 m roll with the same 28 reviews are set aside. If you have not chosen a type, start with the slug fence buying guide.

The only rigid fence is a small kit

Swissinno is the only rigid plastic fence, at about £25.99 with 3.4 from 93 reviews, still that line on 21 October 2026. The manual describes six panels of 33 cm. A bullet says 30 degrees and the item type says 135, so the angle is not one figure. A reviewer's rectangle was about 66 cm by 33 cm. Read 2 m as the kit. A UK review watched a slug climb over, and others mention fiddly clips. Buy it for a patch those panels can close. Skip a full bed. The maker says you need not check it once it is up. UK reviews say the opposite about gaps. A bigger bed is on the slug fence for a raised bed page.

Twelve collars, seven reviews

HanYun is twelve PET collars at about £12.99, each 21 cm by 21 cm and 12 cm tall, with 4.9 from seven reviews. The size fields agree, and a bullet describes a 45-degree edge. UK reviews mention an overhang and fitting the collar before the plant is wide. Nobody reports a full season. Buy it for seedlings you can ring early. Skip a bed, a long row, or a plant wider than 21 cm. Leaves on the rim are a fitting point on the how to install a slug fence page.

Mesh, with the doubts printed on the page

TOONGEEN at about £9.99 is mesh you can cut. The title says 5 by 20 feet and the field says 50 cm by 12.7 cm. One UK review says a cage stopped slugs and the metal did not repel them. Another says slugs climbed it. Hostas are protected in one note and eaten in another, and much of the file is mouse holes. Buy it as a sleeve or a plug. The FACIACC 12 m roll at about £8.99 shares its 3.9 from 28 with the 6 m listing at about £7.49. Read 28 once. One buyer watched slugs cross mesh laid flat. PCCALIGO at about £15.99 puts 8 inches in the title and 0.13 m in the field. Satar Refes at about £6.59 has a review calling the mesh coloured plastic. Dooaqiin at about £9.82 has no star line.

The battery options

Kerbl SnailStop is a 20 m band at about £23.45, with 3.9 from 34 reviews and control LEDs. Voltage and the cell type are not printed, and two reviews say mucus breaks the conductor after about a month. Buy it only if you will inspect the tape. Isotronic is about £61.57, with 3.6 from 24 reviews, 10 m of net and four C cells required. A bullet says 16 brackets and a UK review says eight. That review quotes 9 volts, another says 6 volts, and animals already inside stay inside. Neither battery product is the top pick.

Common questions

Which listing is for a tiny bed?
The Swissinno kit, if the patch is about a reviewer's rectangle, roughly 66 cm by 33 cm. Six panels of 33 cm are pieces, not a 2 m bed. At about £25.99 and 3.4 from 93, a UK review still saw a slug climb over. Measure before you trust the title.
Which is only a collar?
The HanYun 12-pack at about £12.99. Each ring is 21 cm by 21 cm and 12 cm tall. It suits a few small plants if you fit it early. It is the wrong object for a raised bed. The 4.9 is seven reviews.
Why is the 4.3 mesh the top pick?
Because 4.3 from 409 is the strongest listing score, at about £9.99. The score is stars, review count and a clarity mark that already records the title fighting the 50 cm field. It is not a slug-trial winner. One review says a cage worked and the metal did not repel. Another says slugs climbed it.
Are the two FACIACC star lines two sets of buyers?
In this export they are one block twice. The 12 m roll at about £8.99 and the 6 m roll at about £7.49 both show 3.9 from 28. Best value sits on the 12 m roll because the stated length is longer. Do not add the counts and call it 56.
Is the £61.57 fence the premium pick?
It is the dearest listing, not the top score. Isotronic needs four C cells, the bracket count disagrees, and 6 volts versus 9 volts is not settled. A UK review found 10 m enough for one bed and said animals inside stay inside. Pay it only if you will watch the LED.
What should I skip if the copper claim is already disputed?
Skip Satar Refes at about £6.59 if you need copper. One UK review says it is plastic coloured like copper. Ten reviews cannot settle it, which is why the low price is not best value. Dooaqiin has no star line to check.
Did anyone test these exact products?
Not in the sources used here. The Wisley trial and the Which? barriers reported by the Telegraph did not name these listings. The scores are amazon.co.uk stars, review counts, and whether the listing agrees with itself. This set has no measured slug count.
