Insulation panels comparison 2026

The best insulation panels, compared.

Top pick: Szfanyangxuan 5 mm foam roll Best value: Fabian Clarke 5 m radiator foil – About £14.99, score 72 and 4.5 from 2,196 reviews. A reflector for a cold outside wall, not a board. Updated 23 October 2026.

Peter F.Editor

Insulation panels are sheets, rolls or tiles sold to slow heat loss or to cut echo. You buy one in the UK for a radiator on a cold outside wall, a shed or summerhouse lining, a room that sounds live, or a vehicle panel. The listing title often uses insulation for all of those jobs. They are not substitutes. A rigid board, a metallised bubble or foam roll, an open-cell acoustic tile, a dense polyester tile and a heavy butyl mat fail in different ways. You tell a suitable one by the job, a thickness you can check against the gap, the area the pack covers, and whether adhesive or tools are in the box. A thin retail sheet is not a new wall, roof or floor. In England, Approved Document L sets maximum U-values for new fabric in existing dwellings. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use their own documents. How to separate those families before you rank them is set out in the [insulation panels buying guide](/hub/diy-supplies/insulation-panels/sub/insulation-panels-buying-guide).

The best insulation panels in detail

Szfanyangxuan 5 mm foam roll

Rank 1

Szfanyangxuan 5 mm foam roll

∼£20

Our view

Szfanyangxuan’s self-adhesive polyethylene and foil roll is 5 m × 40 cm × 5 mm, about 2 m², at £19.79. The seller states a lambda at or below 0.033 W/(m·K) to ISO 8301:1991 at 25°C, and the captured listing has no test report. The title says flame retardant and does not name a Euroclass. The star line is 4.8 from only 10 ratings, which looks strong and is a thin sample. Four United Kingdom reviews in the file cover a van, a log cabin still in early days, and a loft hatch, and none describe a long-term result. The score of 60 is held down for that reason. It is a thin lining, not the 25 mm board.

Pros

  • 5 mm peel-and-stick, about 2 m²
  • A seller lambda is named, even without a report in the file
  • Early United Kingdom uses include a van and a loft hatch

Cons

  • Only 10 ratings, and four United Kingdom reviews in the file
  • None of those reviews describe a long-term result
  • Flame-retardant wording has no Euroclass
  • The lambda line is the seller’s, not a report we hold

Best for: You want a 5 mm self-adhesive trial on a van panel or a loft hatch and you accept a tiny review sample.

Less suitable: You want a radiator roll with hundreds of reviews, or a rigid board.

Common questions

What lambda does the seller state?

At or below 0.033 W/(m·K) to ISO 8301:1991 at 25°C. No test report is in the captured listing.

Is it flame retardant as a certified class?

The title says flame retardant. The file does not name a Euroclass.

Where did the United Kingdom reviews use it?

A van, a log cabin still in early days, and a loft hatch. Four reviews are in the file.

Fabian Clarke 10 m radiator foil

Rank 2

Fabian Clarke 10 m radiator foil

∼£18

Our view

The 10 m Fabian Clarke roll covers a stated 6 m² at 10 m × 0.6 m for £17.99, which is more wall for a small extra outlay next to the 5 m roll. The listing says 4 mm thermal bubble foil, country of origin United Kingdom, and 4.6 from 380 amazon.co.uk reviews. Reviewers put it behind radiators on outside walls, and one buyer fixed a piece under a radiator shelf. Sticky strips are in the box, but several United Kingdom reviews say they ran out and bought more. A minority report no change in how the room feels. There is still no lambda. The score of 74 sits slightly above the shorter roll because of coverage and the star line, and it remains a foil rather than a wall lining.

Pros

  • 6 m² stated coverage for £17.99
  • 4.6 from 380 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Cuts with scissors
  • Sticky strips included

Cons

  • Pads often run short in United Kingdom reviews
  • Some buyers feel no difference
  • 4 mm may not fit a tight bracket gap
  • No conductivity figure

Best for: You are covering the main radiators in a house and about 3 m² will not be enough.

Less suitable: You only have one or two radiators, or the gap behind the bracket is tighter than the stated 4 mm.

Common questions

How much wall does 10 m cover?

The listing says 6 m², from 10 m × 0.6 m. Reviewers say that covers the main radiators in a house, which depends on radiator size.

Are there enough sticky strips?

Strips are included. Several United Kingdom reviews say they ran out and bought more.

Where do reviewers put it?

Behind radiators, especially on outside walls. One buyer fixed a piece under a radiator shelf.

Triplast EPS 70 24-sheet pack

Rank 3

Triplast EPS 70 24-sheet pack

∼£81

Our view

The Triplast EPS 70 pack is the top pick in this amazon.co.uk set when you want a rigid board rather than foil or a foam tile. You get 24 white sheets of 1200 × 600 × 25 mm, about 17.28 m², for £80.89, and the listing names the United Kingdom as the country of origin. Across 345 reviews the line is 4.6. United Kingdom reviewers use the sheets in sheds and outbuildings, and they also say cutting throws polystyrene beads and that the sheets are fragile. The title says BBA certified, but the captured listing has no certificate number, so that stays a title claim. Listing conductivity starts at 0.038 W/(m·K); at that figure, 25 mm is about 0.66 m²K/W of material resistance, which is not the U-value of a house wall. Adhesive is not in the box. The score of 78 is that review base held down by the thickness limit, not a lab test of a wall.

Pros

  • 24 sheets, about 17.28 m² at the stated size
  • EPS 70, with a listing lambda from 0.038 W/(m·K)
  • 4.6 from 345 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Country of origin listed as the United Kingdom

Cons

  • 25 mm is a lining, not a Part L wall on its own
  • United Kingdom reviews call cutting messy and the sheets fragile
  • No adhesive in the box
  • BBA wording has no certificate number in the file

Best for: You want a rigid EPS lining for a shed or summerhouse and you can live with beads when you cut.

Less suitable: You need a new house wall, roof, or floor to a Part L U-value, or a clean cut with no mess.

Common questions

Does the listing include a BBA certificate number?

No. The title says BBA certified. The captured listing has no certificate number, so that word stays a title claim.

Is adhesive in the box?

No. One United Kingdom reviewer stuck the sheets with wallpaper paste. Cutting throws polystyrene beads.

Will 25 mm meet a house-wall U-value on its own?

The listing’s conductivity starts at 0.038 W/(m·K). At that figure, 25 mm is about 0.66 m²K/W of material resistance. That is not the U-value of a wall.

Fabian Clarke 5 m radiator foil

Rank 4

Fabian Clarke 5 m radiator foil

∼£15

Our view

The Fabian Clarke London 5 m roll is the best value radiator foil in this set if you only need about 3 m² behind a few radiators on a cold outside wall. It is £14.99, stated at 5 m × 60 cm and 4 mm, with sticky tabs in the box, and the listing names the United Kingdom as the country of origin. The amazon.co.uk line is 4.5 from 2,196 reviews, the largest sample here. Reviewers often say the wall behind the radiator feels warmer, though a minority notice nothing. One United Kingdom review says the bubbles are nearer 2 mm, and another buyer returned a roll as too thick for a tight gap, so the 4 mm line is disputed. There is no lambda in the file. The score of 72 treats it as a reflector for that job, not as a board.

Pros

  • About 3 m² for £14.99
  • Sticky tabs included
  • 4.5 from 2,196 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Cuts to sit behind a radiator

Cons

  • Stated 4 mm is disputed: one review says nearer 2 mm, another return says too thick
  • Some buyers notice no change
  • No lambda, so it is not a wall board

Best for: You have a few radiators on an uninsulated external wall and you want the cheapest well-reviewed roll in this set.

Less suitable: You need about 6 m², a measured wall U-value, or foil on an internal wall.

Common questions

Are the sticky tabs in the box?

Yes. Reviewers use them behind radiators. Some wanted more pads, and one review found no instructions.

Is it 4 mm thick?

The listing says 4 mm. One United Kingdom review says the bubbles are about 2 mm. Another buyer returned it as too thick for a tight gap.

Does it insulate a wall?

The listing sells it to sit behind radiators. It is not a 25 mm board and it has no lambda in the file.

wordmouk 5 m bubble foil

Rank 5

wordmouk 5 m bubble foil

∼£11

Our view

wordmouk’s PET aluminium and PE bubble roll is about 0.6 × 5 m, a stated 3.5 mm, at £10.98, the lowest shelf price among the foil rolls in this set. The amazon.co.uk line is 4.5 from 285 reviews, and the listing names China as the country of origin. Reviewers also wrap pipes, a summerhouse roof, and an air-conditioner hose, so it is not only a radiator sheet. Tape is mentioned in reviews and it splits opinion: one sheet came off after three days, and another buyer says you must press hard or it lets go. One United Kingdom review says it is not 3.5 mm thick and does not work well. There is no lambda. The score of 68 keeps the price and the star line, then cuts for the tape and the thickness dispute.

Pros

  • Lowest foil price here, £10.98 for about 3 m²
  • 4.5 from 285 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Reviews also cover pipes and small outbuildings, not only radiators

Cons

  • Tape fails for some buyers within a few days
  • A United Kingdom review disputes the 3.5 mm thickness
  • No lambda in the file

Best for: You want the cheapest bubble roll in this set and you will press the tape hard, or bring your own.

Less suitable: You want reliable sticky tabs and a thickness you can trust behind a tight radiator.

Is it 3.5 mm?

The listing says 3.5 mm. One United Kingdom review says it is not 3.5 mm thick and does not work well.

Is it only for radiators?

The highlight also names loft, caravan, shed, and auto. Reviews add pipes, a summerhouse roof, and an air-conditioner hose.

JAMELO 12-pack polyester tile

Rank 6

JAMELO 12-pack polyester tile

∼£22

Our view

JAMELO’s 12-pack is a 1 cm polyester tile for echo inside a room you own, not a party-wall lining. Twelve peel-and-stick squares of 30 × 30 cm cover about 1.08 m² for £21.99, and the highlight states a density of 150 kg/m³ without a test report in the file. The listing is 4.2 from 807 amazon.co.uk reviews. United Kingdom reviews split: some hear less echo or less noise from a boiler cupboard, and several say a neighbour is still as loud. The listing still says soundproof. Glue can be too strong for paint or too weak so tiles fall, which matters on a rented wall. The fire line says fire retardant and names no Euroclass. The score of 64 is that large review base, cut for the neighbour-noise miss and the adhesive risk.

Pros

  • About 1.08 m² of 1 cm polyester for £21.99
  • Peel-and-stick already on the tile
  • 4.2 from 807 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Some buyers report less echo or a quieter boiler cupboard

Cons

  • Several United Kingdom reviews say neighbour noise does not stop
  • Adhesive can damage paint or fail
  • One review describes hexagons instead of the stated squares
  • Fire-retardant wording has no Euroclass

Best for: You own the wall and you want a small polyester patch for echo or a cupboard.

Less suitable: You rent, you need a quieter party wall, or you wanted heat insulation.

Several United Kingdom reviews say no. Some report less echo or less noise from a boiler cupboard. The listing still says soundproof.

What size is the pack?

30 × 30 × 1 cm, 12 tiles, about 1.08 m². The highlight says 11.6 square feet. One review describes hexagons instead.

JMIATRY 10 m reflector roll

Rank 7

JMIATRY 10 m reflector roll

∼£24

Our view

JMIATRY’s self-adhesive roll is 10 m × 0.32 m, about 3.2 m², stated at 7 mm, for £23.99. That is narrower than the 0.6 m Fabian Clarke rolls, so a typical radiator needs more joins. The bullets say 95% reflection, and that sentence has no test report in the file. The listing is 4.2 from 33 ratings, with six United Kingdom reviews captured, and two of those describe adhesive failure: the liner takes the glue with it, or the glue fails when it gets hot. The material field disagrees with itself, naming rubber-plastic foam in one place and aluminium in another. Included components are marked as none. The score of 58 reflects that small, mixed sample. Country of origin on the listing is China.

Pros

  • About 3.2 m² at a stated 7 mm
  • Self-adhesive, so there are no separate pads to run out of
  • Sold for radiators and for vans

Cons

  • The 95% line is a seller sentence with no test in the file
  • Glue fails in two of the six United Kingdom reviews
  • 0.32 m is narrower than a 60 cm radiator roll
  • Only 33 ratings

Best for: You have measured a gap that accepts about 7 mm and you want a self-adhesive roll rather than tabs.

Less suitable: You want the larger review sample on the Fabian Clarke rolls, or adhesive that has already failed for you on a hot wall.

Common questions

Does the 95% figure come from a test in the file?

No. It is a sentence in the bullets. The captured listing has no test report.

0.32 m by 10 m, so about 3.2 m². That is narrower than the 0.6 m Fabian Clarke rolls.

Does the adhesive hold?

One review says the liner takes the adhesive with it. Another says the glue fails in high temperature.

temproad 9-sheet butyl mat

Rank 8

temproad 9-sheet butyl mat

∼£30

Our view

temproad’s nine butyl sheets are the heavy car-panel mat in this set: 2 mm, about 36 square feet, 13.9 kg, for £29.99, which is what separates them from the 510 g AKOLAFE pack sold under a similar search. The listing is 4.0 from 21 amazon.co.uk reviews. More than one United Kingdom review says the fitting tools were missing, even though one buyer did receive a roller, and the bullets do not list tools. Adhesive is uneven: two reviews say the first peel barely sticks, one buyer wiped a sheet with paint thinner, and another still had it stuck after two weeks. The fire line says fire retardant and names no class, and there is no lambda. The score of 58 is a small sample held down by missing tools and weak stick. It is for panel ring, not a house wall.

Pros

  • 13.9 kg of 2 mm butyl, about 3.31 m²
  • Aluminium face on a butyl sheet
  • One reviewer still had sheets stuck after two weeks

Cons

  • Fitting tools missing in more than one United Kingdom review
  • The first peel can barely stick
  • Only 21 reviews
  • Heat-resistant wording has no lambda

Best for: You are damping ring on a car panel and you have your own roller if the box arrives without tools.

Less suitable: You wanted a light van heat sheet, or you cannot return a 13.9 kg pack if the adhesive fails.

Common questions

Are the fitting tools in the box?

Not reliably. Two United Kingdom reviews say both boxes had no tools. The bullets do not list tools. One review did receive a roller.

How heavy is the pack?

13.9 kg for nine sheets. That is the mass clue. The AKOLAFE pack in this set is about 510 g.

Does the adhesive hold?

It is self-adhesive butyl. Two reviews say the first peel barely sticks. One buyer wiped the sheet with paint thinner. Another still had it stuck after two weeks.

Saiqiang 12-pack wedge foam

Rank 9

Saiqiang 12-pack wedge foam

∼£14

Our view

Saiqiang’s 12 polyurethane wedges are a cheap echo trial at £13.99, titled around 1 × 12 × 12 inch, with a stated coverage of 1,728 square inches. The listing is 3.9 from 993 amazon.co.uk reviews, a large sample that is not kind. United Kingdom reviews say the pack is vacuum sealed, so tiles arrive flat; a hairdryer or a few days helps some of them, and some never reach a useful thickness. Glue or patches are supplied and often do not hold, so tiles fall off. The title says soundproof, and buyers say that word overclaims. The listing says fire resistant and names no class; one United Kingdom review says they are not fire resistant. The warranty line is spelled “6 monthes”. The score of 50 is that review volume with those repeated failures.

Pros

  • £13.99 for 12 wedges
  • 993 amazon.co.uk reviews, so the pattern is not a one-off
  • Some buyers report a little less echo after the foam expands

Cons

  • Vacuum packing leaves tiles flat, and some stay thin
  • The supplied glue often fails
  • Soundproof and fire-resistant wording are disputed in reviews
  • The specification block conflicts with the title size

Best for: You want a low-cost wedge sample for echo inside one room and you will replace the glue.

Less suitable: You need tiles that stick on day one, a named fire class, or less noise from next door.

Are they fire resistant?

The listing says fire resistant and names no class. One United Kingdom review says they are not fire resistant.

AKOLAFE 35-piece van sheet

Rank 10

AKOLAFE 35-piece van sheet

∼£20

Our view

AKOLAFE’s 35-piece pack is a light foil-faced foam sheet, 25 × 18 cm and 7 mm, with a stated 17 square feet and a pack weight of 510 g, at £19.99. The title says sound deadening, but several United Kingdom reviews say it is light foam and foil, not a weighted mat, and that rattles stayed. The listing is 3.8 from 28 reviews. Reviews also say the adhesive stays on the liner, so sheets are wasted before they reach the panel. There is no lambda, and the fire line says fire resistant without a Euroclass. Thirty-five sheets of that size are about 1.58 m². The score of 46 is cut because the deadening claim is rejected in the United Kingdom sample. If the job is panel vibration, the 13.9 kg temproad mat is the heavy product in this set, not this one.

Pros

  • 35 small sheets for patching a van or a shed
  • 7 mm and self-adhesive
  • Some buyers treat it as a heat layer rather than a deadener

Cons

  • United Kingdom reviews reject the sound-deadening claim
  • The liner can take the adhesive with it
  • Only 28 reviews
  • 510 g is not a butyl mat

Best for: You want a light heat patch on a van or shed panel and you will check each liner before you waste a sheet.

Less suitable: You need sound deadening, or a heavy mat that is meant to stay stuck.

Does the backing peel cleanly?

Not always. Reviews say the adhesive stays on the liner, so sheets are wasted.

48-piece acoustic foam tiles

Rank 11

48-piece acoustic foam tiles

∼£32

Our view

This 48-piece polyurethane pack is the weakest acoustic tile in the set on the figures in the file. The title says 12 × 12 × 1 inch wall stickers at £31.91, while the bullets say no adhesive is included and you should use staples, nails, screws, tacks, tape, or glue, and a second size line of 30 × 30 × 2.5 cm does not match 1 inch. The amazon.co.uk line is 3.4 from 1,167 reviews. Tiles arrive vacuum packed and crushed; reviewers use a hairdryer or a steamer, some never reach the stated thickness, and one review measured about 15 mm. Reviews of the white option say tiles turn yellow, including on a wall with no direct sun; this capture is the black variant. The title says fireproof and names no class, and the brand field is empty. The score of 40 follows that pattern of crushed foam, a false sticker claim, and the lowest star line here.

Pros

  • A large tile count if the 48 figure on the listing holds
  • 1,167 reviews, so the complaints are repeated rather than rare
  • The black variant avoids the yellowing that reviews report on white

Cons

  • The title says sticker and the bullets say no adhesive
  • Tiles arrive crushed, and one review measured about 15 mm
  • White tiles yellow in reviews, including away from direct sun
  • 3.4 from 1,167 is the lowest star line in this set

Best for: You already have glue or staples and you only want a black foam patch after you have read the thickness complaints.

Less suitable: You want peel-and-stick, a thickness that matches the title, or a product with a named brand.

Why are they flat in the box?

They are vacuum packed. Reviewers use a hairdryer or a steamer. Some never reach the stated thickness. One review measured about 15 mm.

Rank 12

BXI closed-cell foam roll

∼£39

Our view

BXI’s closed-cell roll is £38.99, and it is the product in this set you cannot rank from stars, because the saved listing has no review line and no star count. The title says 33 × 200 × 1 cm, while the specification block says 33 × 10 cm and a coverage of 0.64 m², and a sheet of 0.33 × 2.00 m is about 0.66 m², so the width line does not agree with the title. One bullet says 50 kg/m³ neoprene, another says polyethylene with an aluminium face, and the material field says aluminium, with weight listed at 200 g. The seller compares it with open-cell foam and gives no lambda. The score is 0 because there is no Amazon rating to scale, not because a laboratory failed it. At the top of the mid price band, with no United Kingdom review in the file, it is a specification conflict rather than a pick.

Pros

  • Self-adhesive backing is stated
  • A seller density of 50 kg/m³ is at least a number on the page
  • The stated 1 cm is thicker than the 5 mm self-adhesive rolls

Cons

  • No reviews and no star line in the file
  • Title size and specification width do not agree
  • The material is named three different ways
  • £38.99 for a stated 0.64 m²

Best for: You have already opened the live amazon.co.uk page and the size and the material now agree with each other.

Less suitable: You want a reviewed roll, a coverage you can trust, or a radiator foil with a large United Kingdom sample.

Common questions

What size is the sheet?

The title says 33 × 200 × 1 cm. The specification block says 33 × 10 cm and coverage 0.64 m². Those do not agree. 0.33 × 2.00 m is about 0.66 m².

Are there United Kingdom reviews in the file?

No review text and no star line were captured.

What is the foam?

One bullet says 50 kg/m³ neoprene. Another says polyethylene with an aluminium face. The material field says aluminium.

How we compared

Shelf prices, stars and review notes are the amazon.co.uk snapshot already stored for these twelve listings. This is not a laboratory test of a wall, a foil or a tile. The score starts from the star line and the review count. A named thickness, the coverage and what is in the box can hold a score up. The score is cut when United Kingdom reviews dispute the thickness, when adhesive or tools are missing, when a sound or fire claim has no class, when the sample is only a few dozen reviews, or when there is no review line at all. A 25 mm expanded polystyrene sheet is not scored as a Part L wall. Foil is not scored as a board. The highest score, 78, is the top pick. Best value is a separate award for the radiator roll with the largest review sample, not a second board.

1

Star line and review count

45%

The amazon.co.uk star line and the review count are the base of the score. A high star line on a handful of ratings does not outrank a large sample. A listing with no review line scores 0 on this base.

2

Thickness, coverage and box

25%

A named thickness, the area the pack covers, and what is in the box can hold a score up. Sticky tabs, a self-adhesive backing and fitting tools are checked against the listing and the United Kingdom reviews.

3

Job match

15%

A 25 mm sheet is not scored as a Part L wall. Foil is not scored as a board. A sound or fire claim with no class is a cut, not a pass.

4

Review cuts

15%

Thickness disputed in United Kingdom reviews, adhesive or tools missing, a sample under a few dozen reviews, or no review line at all, each pulls the score down. There is no laboratory ranking.

Insulation panels buying guide

You are choosing a sheet for heat, echo or a vehicle panel, and the twelve amazon.co.uk listings are not one product. The set mixes a 25 mm expanded polystyrene pack, radiator foil, a self-adhesive van sheet, acoustic tiles and a heavy butyl mat. Shelf prices run from about £10.98 to about £80.89. Name the job before you sort by price. The top pick is the rigid board when the job is a shed lining and you accept a messy cut.

What is an insulation panel?

An insulation panel, in the way these amazon.co.uk listings use the words, is a sheet, a roll or a tile sold to slow heat or to cut echo. This set is not a shelf of PIR boards. Shoppers use the rows behind a radiator, in a shed, for echo in a small room, or on a vehicle panel. Quality is the right job, a thickness you can check, adhesive or tools that are in the box, and reviews that describe that job.

Best for

  • A shed or summerhouse lining you can cut
  • Radiators on an uninsulated external wall

Not ideal for

  • A new wall, roof or floor to a Part L U-value
  • Neighbour noise, or peel-and-stick tiles on a rented wall

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

One price sort for five jobs

A foil roll, a 25 mm board, an acoustic tile, a van sheet and a butyl mat are not substitutes. The listing title often says insulation for all five. Sort by the job first.

  2. 2

A thin sheet treated as a Part L wall

England’s Table 4.2 limits for new fabric in existing dwellings are a roof U-value of 0.15 and a wall or floor of 0.18. A retail lambda on 25 mm is material resistance, not that element. Foil on an internal wall is the weak case.

  3. 3

Soundproof read as a party wall

Acoustic foam is absorption. United Kingdom reviews say neighbour noise stays. A light van pad is not sound deadening. Peel-and-stick tiles can damage paint on a rented wall.

What to weigh up

Job and material

High

The first check is the job. House fabric, a radiator on an external wall, echo inside a room, van heat and car-panel vibration are five different buys, and the listing title often says insulation for all of them. Match the material family next. Expanded polystyrene board, metallised bubble or foam, open-cell acoustic foam, a dense polyester tile and a butyl mat fail in different ways. A rigid 25 mm sheet can line a shed if you accept beads when you cut. It is not scored here as a Part L wall.

Thickness, coverage and the box

High

Check thickness and coverage against the gap or the wall area before you trust the title. Several foil listings are disputed by reviewers on millimetres. A stated 4 mm can be called nearer 2 mm, or too thick for a tight bracket. A stated 3.5 mm is also disputed. Vacuum-packed foam often arrives flat. Some tiles never reach a useful thickness, and one review of the large foam pack measured about 15 mm. Then check the box.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Shed or summerhouse lining

You want a rigid expanded polystyrene lining and you can live with beads when you cut. The Triplast EPS 70 pack is the top pick at about £80.89: 24 sheets of 25 mm, about 17.28 m², and 4.6 from 345 amazon.co.uk reviews. It is not a house wall to a Part L U-value, and adhesive is not in the box.

Radiators on a cold outside wall

You have a few radiators on an uninsulated external wall. The Fabian Clarke 5 m roll is best value at about £14.99, about 3 m², with sticky tabs in the box and 4.5 from 2,196 amazon.co.uk reviews. It is not a measured wall U-value, and the stated 4 mm is disputed.

Echo in a room you own

You want less echo, not a quieter neighbour. The JAMELO 12-pack is about £21.99 for 1 cm polyester tiles, about 1.08 m², with 4.2 from 807 amazon.co.uk reviews. Glue can mark paint. It is a poor choice on a rented wall, and it is not heat insulation.

Common questions about insulation panels

Which insulation panel is the top pick in this comparison?
The top pick is the Triplast EPS 70 pack at about £80.89. It scores 78, the highest here: 24 sheets of 25 mm, about 17.28 m², and 4.6 from 345 amazon.co.uk reviews. It is the only rigid board in this set. United Kingdom reviews use it in sheds and also call the cut messy and the sheets fragile. Adhesive is not in the box. 25 mm is not a house-wall U-value on its own.
How much do insulation panels cost on amazon.co.uk?
On the stored amazon.co.uk capture, foil and tile rows sit under about £40, and the board pack is about £80.89. Under £20 the capture includes bubble foil, a small foam roll and wedge tiles. From £20 to £40 it includes polyester tiles, a narrower reflector, a butyl mat and a closed-cell roll with no review line. These are captured shelf prices, not a live check on 21 October 2026. Merchant PIR board is outside this set.
What should I check before I buy insulation panels?
Name the job first: a shed lining, a radiator on an external wall, echo in a room, or van heat. Then match the material. A board, a foil roll, an acoustic tile and a butyl mat fail in different ways. Check thickness against the gap, the area the pack covers, and whether pads, backing or tools are in the box. Read the United Kingdom reviews for your symptom. A thin retail sheet is not a new wall, roof or floor.
Will a thin insulation panel meet Approved Document L?
No. In England, Approved Document L Volume 1, Table 4.2, limits new fabric in existing dwellings to a U-value of 0.15 for a roof and 0.18 for a wall or floor. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland use their own documents. A listing lambda is not that U-value. At 0.038 W/(m·K), 25 mm is about 0.66 m²K/W of material resistance, a rule of thumb, not a wall. Do not treat any listing here as meeting Approved Document L.
Does radiator foil belong on every wall?
Energy Saving Trust describes purpose-made reflectors as best on uninsulated external walls, not kitchen foil, with a weak case on internal walls. Turn the heating off before you fit them. The Trust’s DIY page estimates about £18 a year in Great Britain for the measure, not for these listings, so that figure is not a saving from a roll on this page. A stated thickness can also be disputed in reviews, including a 4 mm line called nearer 2 mm.
Is a shed lining the same job as the eaves?
No. A 25 mm sheet is a lining inside a shed or summerhouse. The channel that takes rain off the roof edge is a different buy, with its own profile, fall and outfall. That comparison is the gutter comparison. A lining does not replace it. Call a professional for cavity or external-wall work, a party wall, damp, a rusty van skin, or foam next to a flue or a heater.
Will acoustic tiles stop neighbour noise?
No. Acoustic foam is absorption inside a room. Approved Document E is about separating construction, and none of these listings is that element. United Kingdom reviews on the polyester tiles and the wedge foam say a neighbour can stay as loud. Foam is not soundproofing. Peel-and-stick tiles can damage paint, which matters on a rented wall. Do not read soundproof on a title as a party wall.
Is a light van sheet the same as a butyl mat?
No. A light foil-faced foam pack in this set weighs 510 g. The butyl sheets weigh 13.9 kg, about 3.31 m² at 2 mm. United Kingdom reviews say the light pack is not sound deadening and that rattles stayed. The heavy mat is for panel ring. Reviews also say the tools were missing and the first peel can barely stick. Bubble foil on a camper is a supplement on a metal skin, not a house wall.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Triplast EPS 70 pack at about £80.89. It scores 78, the highest in this set: 24 sheets of 1200 × 600 × 25 mm, about 17.28 m², 4.6 from 345 amazon.co.uk reviews, and the only rigid board in the capture. It is not a laboratory test. 25 mm is a lining, not a Part L wall on its own. United Kingdom reviews call cutting messy and the sheets fragile, adhesive is not in the box, and the title’s BBA wording has no certificate number in the file. Best value is the Fabian Clarke 5 m radiator foil at about £14.99, score 72, 4.5 from 2,196 reviews, for a cold outside wall. The stated 4 mm is disputed. The 10 m roll scores 74 and is still foil, not a second board.
