Grease nipple comparison 2026

The best grease nipples, compared.

Top pick: Nikovoke straight set, size line M6x1 Best value: Nadinsta 100-piece M6 M8 M10 kit – About £7.89, score 68, with three angles, caps and 4.4 from 307 ratings. The pitch is still unstated. Updated October 2026.

Peter F.Editor

A grease nipple is a metal check valve. You press a grease gun on the head, the spring-loaded ball opens, and grease reaches the joint. When the gun comes off, the ball closes. In the UK you fit them on diggers, tractors, quads, trailers and older cars, as one measured spare or as a workshop assortment. The thread and the pitch decide whether it starts. A label that only says M6, M8 and M10 has not chosen M6 x 1, M8 x 1, M8 x 1.25 or an inch form. M10 x 1 and 1/8 BSP both sit near 10 mm and do not interchange. Straight, 45° and 90° only decide whether the coupler can reach. A cone head suits a normal jaw coupler. Pitch, angle and the nipple count after caps are set out in the [grease nipple buying guide](/hub/diy-supplies/grease-nipple/sub/grease-nipple-buying-guide). Metric fine pitch, BSP and 1/4-28 are different parts. The [metric or BSP thread](/hub/diy-supplies/grease-nipple/sub/grease-nipple-metric-or-bsp) page keeps that identity on its own. The grease you pump through the fitting is a separate buy, in the [multi purpose grease](/hub/diy-supplies/multi-purpose-grease) comparison.

A grease nipple is a metal check valve. You press a grease gun on the head, the spring-loaded ball opens, and grease reaches the joint. When the gun comes off, the ball closes.

The best grease nipples in detail

Nikovoke straight set, size line M6x1

Rank 1

Nikovoke straight set, size line M6x1

Our view

The Nikovoke listing at about £3.99 puts M6 x 1 on the size line, while the title says five straight M6, M8 and M10 nipples and the piece-count field says 1. The two amazon.co.uk reviews score 5.0 and only mention delivery, and the same two texts sit on the M8 x 1 ASIN, so this is not a separate fit test. The included-components line says a pressure washer adapter, against bullets about quenched high-carbon steel and a ball valve. Caps, a spanner, a case and any angled head are not stated, and the listed weight is 15 g. Treat M6 x 1 as the only pitch this row prints. Ignore the title if you need M8, M10, or a 45° head. The score of 43 is that conflict, not the five-star line.

Pros

  • Size line prints M6 x 1, the only pitch on this ASIN
  • About £3.99 if the bag matches that size line
  • Bullets name a ball valve and quenched high-carbon steel

Cons

  • Title says five M6, M8 and M10 nipples; piece count says 1
  • The two reviews are delivery comments shared with the M8 x 1 ASIN
  • Included-components line says a pressure washer adapter
  • No angled head, cap, spanner or case is stated

Best for: You have measured a straight M6 x 1 nipple and you can see that the bag matches the size line rather than the five-size title.

Less suitable: You need M8 or M10, a 45° or 90° head, or a review that describes a machine rather than a delivery.

Common questions

Is this a five-piece assortment or one nipple?

The title and the set name say 5 straight nipples and name M6, M8 and M10. The number-of-pieces line says 1, and the size attribute says M6 x 1.

What does the included-components line say?

It says a pressure washer adapter. The title and the bullets describe grease nipples with a ball valve. Both lines are in the capture.

What do the two reviews say about fit?

They say the parcel arrived on time and as described. They do not mention a thread, a machine or a grease gun. The same two texts appear on the M8 x 1 Nikovoke listing.

Nikovoke straight set, size line M8x1

Rank 2

Nikovoke straight set, size line M8x1

Our view

This second Nikovoke row is also about £3.99, with the same model number and the size line changed to M8 x 1. The title still says five straight M6, M8 and M10 nipples, and the piece-count field still says 1. The 5.0 from 2 is the same pair of delivery comments as on the M6 x 1 ASIN, not a second survey of how the thread starts. Bullets again say quenched high-carbon steel and a ball valve, while the included-components line says a pressure washer adapter. Caps, a spanner and a case are not stated, and the form is straight only. Buy it only if you have measured M8 x 1 and the bag matches that size line. The score of 43 matches the paired listing because the review text is shared.

Pros

  • Size line prints M8 x 1, with a thread-size line that says M8
  • About £3.99 if you already need a straight M8 x 1 nipple
  • Bullets name a ball valve and quenched high-carbon steel

Cons

  • Same title, model number and two reviews as the M6 x 1 ASIN
  • Piece count says 1 against a five-piece title
  • Included-components line says a pressure washer adapter
  • Straight only, with no cap or spanner stated

Best for: You have measured a straight M8 x 1 nipple and you will judge the bag by the size line, not by the shared five-size title.

Less suitable: You need a 45° or 90° head, a cap, or evidence from a review that is not the same delivery note as the M6 x 1 listing.

Common questions

How is this listing different from the other Nikovoke pack?

The size attribute here says M8 x 1 and the thread-size line says M8. The paired ASIN's size line says M6 x 1. The title, price, model number and two reviews match.

Does the listing include angled nipples?

No. The title says straight nipples. Caps, a spanner and a case are not stated.

What is the review evidence?

The listing line is 5.0 from 2. Both texts are delivery comments, and they are the same texts as on the M6 x 1 Nikovoke listing.

Nadisean 134-piece mixed-size assortment

Rank 3

Nadisean 134-piece mixed-size assortment

∼£10

Our view

The Nadisean 134-piece listing is about £9.59 and adds lines marked M1/8 and M1/4 to M6, M8 and M10, with four of each angle on those extra lines. It does not say whether M1/8 and M1/4 are BSP, UNF or another standard, and it prints no pitch. The 35 red caps are listed for M6, M8 and M10 only. The 4.6 from 138, the rank and the named reviews match the 100-piece Nadisean capture, so this is the same review text on a second ASIN. Material is given as iron-carbon steel, at 590 g. Keep it only if you already know what those fraction lines are supposed to be. The score of 52 counts that shared sample once, not as a second survey.

Pros

  • Adds M1/8 and M1/4 lines to M6, M8 and M10
  • 35 red caps for the M6, M8 and M10 sizes
  • Iron-carbon steel is a single material line

Cons

  • M1/8 and M1/4 are not identified as BSP or UNF
  • The 4.6 from 138 matches the 100-piece Nadisean listing
  • No pitch, and no caps for the fraction sizes
  • The included-components line says cap only

Best for: You already know what the M1/8 and M1/4 lines on this page are meant to be, and you will not double-count the shared 138 reviews.

Less suitable: You need a defined 1/8 BSP or 1/4-28 label, or a review sample that belongs only to this ASIN.

Common questions

What does M1/8 mean on this listing?

The thread-size line prints M1/8 and M1/4 next to M6, M8 and M10. It does not say whether those are BSP, UNF or another standard, and it does not print a pitch.

Which sizes get dust caps?

The bullet limits the 35 red caps to M6, M8 and M10. It does not list caps for the M1/8 or M1/4 lines.

Why is the star line the same as the 100-piece Nadisean kit?

Both captures print 4.6 from 138, the same Best Sellers Rank, and the same named reviews. That is what the files contain. It is not a second counted survey.

Nadisean 100-piece metric assortment

Rank 4

Nadisean 100-piece metric assortment

Our view

The Nadisean 100-piece assortment is about £8.59, with M6, M8 and M10, 45°, 90° and straight heads, 35 red caps and a transparent box with removable dividers. The listing line is 4.6 from 138, and the same line, rank and named review texts also appear on the 134-piece ASIN, so do not count 276 opinions. Bullets say galvanised steel while the material and finish attributes say stainless. The nipple counts in the bullet add to 65, and the caps make up the rest of the stated 100. No pitch is printed. It suits a van drawer if you sort the dividers and test one thread by hand. It is a poor choice if you need one metal claim. The score of 51 halves the shared sample and marks the material conflict.

Pros

  • M6, M8 and M10 in 45°, 90° and straight forms
  • 35 red caps, split across those three sizes
  • A transparent box with removable dividers is stated

Cons

  • The 138 reviews and the rank line match the 134-piece ASIN
  • Bullets say galvanised steel; attributes say stainless
  • Nipple counts add to 65, with 35 caps making the title's 100
  • No pitch is printed

Best for: You want a divided metric box with red caps and you will treat the 138 ratings as one shared text, not a private survey of this ASIN.

Less suitable: You need a single metal claim, a printed pitch, or review evidence that is not also on the 134-piece Nadisean listing.

Common questions

Is the Nadisean 100-piece set stainless or galvanised?

The bullets say galvanised steel. The material attribute and the exterior-finish attribute say stainless. The capture records both.

Do the size counts add up to 100?

The title says 100. The bullet's nine nipple counts add to 65, and it then adds 35 red caps. Both figures are in the listing.

Are these 138 reviews unique to this ASIN?

The listing line says 4.6 from 138. In this capture the same line, the same Best Sellers Rank and the same named review texts also appear on the 134-piece Nadisean listing.

Swpeet 246-piece metric and inch kit

Rank 5

Swpeet 246-piece metric and inch kit

∼£17

Our view

Swpeet's 246-piece kit is about £16.99, with 4.4 from 653 ratings, the largest review count in this capture. The bullet lists 1/4-28 and 1/8-27 in straight, 45° and 90° forms as well as M6, M8 and M10, plus 15 red, 15 blue and 15 black caps. No other row here names both of those inch sizes and the metric sizes together, which is why it is the top pick for a mixed spare box. It does not print a metric pitch, the thread-type attribute says UN, and zinc-plated steel sits beside an alloy-steel line. Reviews in the capture are not all from the UK, and several say the box hinges and latches broke. Skip it if the machine is M8 x 1.25 or 1/8 BSP and the bullet never says so. The score of 70 is that mixed bullet plus the sample, not a measured pitch.

Pros

  • Names 1/4-28, 1/8-27, M6, M8 and M10
  • Straight, 45° and 90°, with colour-coded caps
  • 4.4 from 653 ratings, the largest count here

Cons

  • Metric pitch unstated, and the thread-type line says UN
  • Bullet lines do not show one checked total of 246
  • Zinc-plated steel and alloy steel both appear
  • Review texts are not all from the UK, and hinges break

Best for: You want one box that names metric sizes plus 1/4-28 and 1/8-27, and you will still check the pitch the bullet leaves out.

Less suitable: Your plate says M8 x 1.25, M10 x 1.5 or 1/8 BSP, or you need the 653 ratings to be a UK-only sample.

Common questions

Which threads does the Swpeet bullet list?

The bullet lists 1/4-28 and 1/8-27 in straight, 45° and 90°, plus M6, M8 and M10 in the same three angles. It does not print a metric pitch. The thread-type attribute says UN.

Does this kit include dust caps?

Yes. The bullet says 15 red M6 caps, 15 blue M8 caps and 15 black M10 caps.

Are the 653 reviews all from the United Kingdom?

The 4.4 from 653 figure is the amazon.co.uk listing line. The review texts in the capture include the UK, the US, Australia, Spain, Germany, France and Canada.

Nadinsta 100-piece M6 M8 M10 kit

Rank 6

Nadinsta 100-piece M6 M8 M10 kit

Our view

Nadinsta's 100-piece box is about £7.89, with straight, 45° and 90° nipples in M6, M8 and M10, red caps in those sizes, and 4.4 from 307 amazon.co.uk ratings. Most of the UK texts in the file are short and positive, but the listing never prints a pitch such as M6 x 1, and a heading also says metric and SAE. One review says the nipples were soft and tore when the grease gun was pulled sideways, and another says the thread was not a standard size. The bullet calls the body galvanised iron, which sits against that soft-metal report. It is the best value here for a cheap three-angle metric claim if you measure the old nipple first. It is a weak buy when you need a printed pitch or a head the reviews describe as tough. The score of 68 is that price and sample, not a lab result.

Pros

  • About £7.89 with 4.4 from 307 ratings
  • Straight, 45° and 90° claimed for M6, M8 and M10
  • Red caps in three sizes sit inside the 100-piece total

Cons

  • No pitch is printed, and a heading says metric and SAE
  • One review says a soft body tore when the gun was pulled sideways
  • Another review says the thread was not a standard size
  • Galvanised iron on the bullet is not checked against that report

Best for: You want a low-priced M6, M8 and M10 box with three angles and caps, and you will measure the old nipple before you fit one.

Less suitable: You need a printed pitch, an inch thread, or a head that reviews describe as resisting a stuck coupler.

Common questions

Does the Nadinsta listing state a thread pitch?

No. It names M6, M8 and M10, straight, 45° and 90°, and the heading says metric and SAE. It does not print M6 x 1 or any other pitch.

What do the reviews say about strength?

Most of the UK texts in the file are short and positive. One review says the nipples were soft and tore when the grease gun was pulled sideways. Another says the thread was not a standard size.

Are caps included?

The bullet says three sizes of caps, described as red nuts in M6, M8 and M10, inside the 100-piece total.

IVhomeshop 130-piece metric and imperial box

Rank 7

IVhomeshop 130-piece metric and imperial box

∼£14

Our view

IVhomeshop's 130-piece box is about £13.99, first listed on 18 January 2019, with 4.4 from 164 ratings. The title says metric and imperial, and the bullet names M6, M8, M10 and 1/8, without a pitch, without a 1/4 size, and without saying whether the angled pieces are 45° or 90°. Dust caps, a spanner and the material are not stated. UK reviewers call it a useful workshop selection, including on a Hitachi excavator, and others say the partitioned box arrived jumbled or that M8 sets were missing. It is a reasonable mixed spare if you sort the compartments on the day. It is a weak buy if you need caps, a printed pitch, or 1/4-28. The score of 66 sits under the two higher boxes because of those missing lines.

Pros

  • Title says metric and imperial; bullet names M6, M8, M10 and 1/8
  • 4.4 from 164 ratings, with workshop comments
  • A partitioned box is claimed, at about £13.99

Cons

  • No pitch, and no 1/4 BSP or 1/4-28 line
  • Angles are not given as 45° or 90°
  • Caps, a spanner and the material are not stated
  • Reviews report a jumbled box and missing M8 sets

Best for: You want a mixed metric and 1/8 spare, you will sort the box on arrival, and you do not need a 1/4-inch thread.

Less suitable: You need dust caps, a printed pitch, or 1/4-28 or 1/4 BSP named on the bullet.

Common questions

Which imperial size does the IVhomeshop bullet name?

The bullet names M6, M8, M10 and 1/8, and the title says metric and imperial. It does not name 1/4 BSP or 1/4 UNF, and it does not print a pitch.

Does the listing include dust caps or a spanner?

Neither is stated. The bullet says a partitioned box of 130 straight and angled nipples.

What did UK reviewers say about the box?

Several say it is a useful workshop selection, including on a Hitachi excavator. Others say the contents were jumbled, that not all sizes were present, or that M8 sets were missing.

TRILINK 160-piece metric kit with wrench

Rank 8

TRILINK 160-piece metric kit with wrench

∼£19

Our view

TRILINK's metric kit is about £18.99 for 160 M6, M8 and M10 fittings in straight, 45° and 90° forms, plus a wrench, at 4.4 from 50 ratings. That is the highest price in this set, and the listing does not mention dust caps, a compartment box, or a pitch. A dimensions line of 26 x 11 x 11 mm sits beside 960 g, so the weight is the figure that can describe a real kit. UK reviews mention a digger and a Takeuchi, including one nipple that still took grease after a winter outside. A Netherlands review in the same capture says some heads leak and that the head thread spins. It is the row for a metric-only kit when you want the spanner included. It is expensive if you also need caps or an inch thread. The score of 60 reflects the wrench and those gaps.

Pros

  • 160 M6, M8 and M10 fittings in three angles
  • A wrench is included
  • 4.4 from 50 ratings, with digger comments

Cons

  • About £18.99, the highest price in this capture
  • No pitch, no dust caps and no compartment box
  • 26 x 11 x 11 mm is printed beside 960 g
  • A Netherlands review says some heads leak and spin

Best for: You want a metric-only set with a wrench, for a digger or similar plant, and you will measure the pitch yourself.

Less suitable: You need caps, a sorted case, an inch thread, or a lower price than about £18.99.

Common questions

Does the TRILINK kit include a spanner?

Yes. The bullet and the included-components line say a wrench. Dust caps are not mentioned.

Which threads are listed?

M6, M8 and M10, in straight, 45° and 90° forms. No pitch, and no BSP or UNF size, is printed.

What did reviewers report after fitting them?

UK reviews mention a digger and a Takeuchi, including one that still took grease after a winter outside. A Netherlands review in the same capture says some nipples leak past the head and that the head thread spins.

Eleechen 153-piece hydraulic set

Rank 9

Eleechen 153-piece hydraulic set

Our view

Eleechen's set is about £7.99 with a title that says 153 pieces, while the bullet's M6, M8 and M10 counts add to 193 nipples before the red caps. The thread-type attribute says SAE and the size line says M6, M8 and M10, and one UK review calls them metric and notes there is no M7. Nine ratings sit at 4.4, with two UK texts in the capture, which is a thin check on a count that already disagrees with itself. Item dimensions are printed as 20 x 10 x 10 mm next to 438 g, which cannot describe the box a review says arrived. Zinc-plated iron is the bullet material, and no pitch is printed. Count the bag yourself if you buy it, and do not plan the job on the title's 153. The score of 41 is those conflicts.

Pros

  • About £7.99 with straight, 45° and 90° sizes named
  • Red caps are mentioned
  • Zinc-plated iron is stated on the bullet

Cons

  • Title says 153; the bullet's nipple counts add to 193
  • Thread-type line says SAE while the sizes say M6, M8 and M10
  • Only 4.4 from 9 ratings, with two UK texts in the capture
  • Dimensions are printed as 20 x 10 x 10 mm beside 438 g

Best for: You have measured one nipple, you want a cheap three-angle claim, and you will count the bag rather than trust the title.

Less suitable: You need the piece count to add up, a pitch on the label, or more than two UK review texts.

Common questions

Why do the piece counts not match?

The title and the set name say 153 pieces. The bullet lists 25, 58 and 58 M6 nipples, then M8 and M10 counts, which add to 193 nipples before the red caps.

Does the listing say SAE or metric?

The thread-type attribute says SAE. The size line says M6, M8 and M10. A UK review calls them metric and says there is no M7.

What is the printed box size?

Item dimensions are printed as 20 x 10 x 10 millimetres, next to a weight of 438 g. Both figures are in the capture.

REJOECE 153-piece kit with spanners

Rank 10

REJOECE 153-piece kit with spanners

Our view

REJOECE's kit at about £9.49 states the 153 as 75 metric nipples, 75 colour-coded caps and three spanners. Red is M6, yellow is M8 and blue is M10, in straight, 45° and 90° forms, in a transparent box. The star line is only 4.2 from 5, and the capture holds two UK texts, both positive, one of them saying the threads did not cross-thread. No pitch is printed, and a weight of 75 g sits beside a 153-piece kit, so that mass figure is not usable. Galvanised steel and PE are the stated materials. It is the box to look at when you want a spanner with colour-coded caps, provided you still measure the pitch. The score of 51 is that clear split, on a very small sample.

Pros

  • 153 is 75 nipples, 75 caps and 3 spanners
  • Caps are red for M6, yellow for M8, blue for M10
  • Three spanners, one each for M6, M8 and M10

Cons

  • Only 4.2 from 5 ratings, with two texts in the capture
  • No pitch is printed
  • A weight of 75 g is printed beside the 153-piece kit

Best for: You want colour-coded caps and a spanner for M6, M8 and M10, and you will measure the pitch yourself.

Less suitable: You want a large review sample, a printed pitch, or an inch thread in the same box.

Common questions

What is actually in the 153-piece count?

The bullet says 75 grease nipples, 75 caps and 3 spanners. It also prints the split: more straight M6 and M8 pieces than 45° or 90° pieces.

Which cap colour goes with which size?

The bullet says red for M6, yellow for M8 and blue for M10. The caps are described as PE.

How many UK reviews are in the capture?

The listing line is 4.2 from 5. The capture contains two review texts, both from the UK, and neither describes a broken nipple.

MirraSwit 270-piece M6 M8 M10 kit

Rank 11

MirraSwit 270-piece M6 M8 M10 kit

∼£12

Our view

MirraSwit's title at about £11.99 says 270 pieces, but the bullet's nipple counts add to 180 and no cap count is printed to close the gap. The thread-type attribute says BSP while the bullets say M6, M8 and M10, and no pitch is given, so the page does not say which family will arrive. Eight ratings average 3.8. One of four UK texts says the coupler would not seal on M8 or M10, and another calls the red loop fit poor. Bullets say galvanised iron, while reviews in the file say stainless or plated steel. Skip it when you need the thread line and the piece count to agree. The score of 37 is the lowest here because of that BSP line and the count.

Pros

  • Straight, 45° and 90° counts are printed for M6, M8 and M10
  • A transparent compartment box is stated
  • About £11.99 sits in the middle of this capture

Cons

  • Thread-type line says BSP; bullets say M6, M8 and M10
  • Title says 270; nipple counts add to 180, with no cap count
  • 3.8 from 8, and one UK text says the coupler would not seal
  • Galvanised iron on the bullet; reviews disagree on the metal

Best for: You can return a mismatched box and you only need some M6, M8 and M10 heads after you have measured one.

Less suitable: You need the thread family and the piece count to agree, or a coupler seal the reviews support.

Common questions

Is this kit BSP or metric?

The thread-type attribute says BSP. The bullets and the size line say M6, M8 and M10, with straight, 45° and 90° counts. One review uses both descriptions. No pitch is printed.

Why does the nipple split not equal 270?

The bullet's nine nipple counts add to 180. The title says 270. A cap count that would close the gap is not printed.

What failed in the reviews?

One of four UK texts says the seal between the nipple and the grease coupler would not hold on M8 or M10. Another likes the selection and calls the cap fit poor.

ANVINKU 250-piece M6 M8 M10 kit

Rank 12

ANVINKU 250-piece M6 M8 M10 kit

∼£16

Our view

ANVINKU's kit at about £15.98 states the 250 as 160 M6, M8 and M10 fittings in straight, 45° and 90° forms plus 90 PE caps. The bullet claims an internal ball-type check valve and a galvanised steel body, with no pitch and no spanner. The star line is 3.5 from 22, the weakest average among the larger boxes. UK reviews say the plastic case cracked in transit and the dividers came out, and one report says the grease gun pulled the nipple out of the body. The 850 g weight and the stated case size at least describe a real case. Buy it for the stated cap count only if a fragile case and that pulled head are acceptable. The score of 51 keeps the clear 160-plus-90 split and marks those faults.

Pros

  • 160 fittings plus 90 PE caps, matching the title
  • Straight, 45° and 90° M6, M8 and M10
  • Galvanised steel is stated without a second material line

Cons

  • 3.5 from 22, the lowest star line in this set
  • UK reviews say the case cracked and the dividers came out
  • One review says the gun pulled the nipple out of the body
  • No pitch and no spanner

Best for: You want a large stated count of caps and metric fittings, and a cracked case would not ruin the purchase for you.

Less suitable: You need a tough case, a printed pitch, or heads that reviews say survive the coupler coming off.

Common questions

How many of the 250 pieces are nipples?

The bullet says 160 M6, M8 and M10 fittings, in straight, 45° and 90° forms, and 90 caps. The title total is 250.

What do reviews say about the case?

UK reviews say the case cracked in transit and that the slide-in dividers came out, so the sizes had to be sorted. The nipples themselves get both positive comments and one report of the head stripping out.

Is a spanner included?

No spanner is listed. The included-components line says grease nipples and grease nipple caps.

How we compared

Shelf prices, stars and review notes are the amazon.co.uk snapshot already stored for these twelve listings. This is not a lab test of thread pitch, head strength or working pressure. No listing here states a working pressure. Each score is four marks: the amazon.co.uk star line, the size of that review sample, how clearly the listing states thread and contents, and whether the review texts mention a machine, a fit or a fault. A sample that repeats another ASIN's review texts is halved. The highest score is the top pick. Best value is a different listing: the strongest low price among boxes with three angles, caps and a large rating count. International review text is not treated as UK opinion.

1

Amazon star line

33%

Stars are scaled from the amazon.co.uk line, up to 30 points before the other marks. A 5.0 from two delivery comments does not outrank 4.4 from several hundred ratings. The star line is not a pitch check.

2

Review sample

27%

The amazon.co.uk count adds up to 25 points at 500 reviews or more, and less as the count falls. If another ASIN in this set carries the same review texts, that sample mark is halved. Shared Nikovoke and Nadisean texts are scored once.

3

Listing clarity

27%

Clarity starts at 25 and is cut for a missing pitch, a thread-type line that fights the size bullets, a material contradiction, a piece-count conflict, or an included-components line that names a different product.

4

Review signal

13%

Texts that mention a machine, a fit or a fault score higher than delivery comments. Shared texts and fit faults are then deducted. The floor is 0. A Best Sellers Rank is not part of the score.

Grease nipple buying guide

You are matching a grease nipple to a thread you can measure, not to the largest piece count. These twelve amazon.co.uk listings, captured for 21 October 2026, run from about £3.99 to about £18.99. Most titles say M6, M8 and M10 and do not print a pitch. The top pick is the Swpeet 246-piece kit, score 70, because it is the only bullet here that names M6, M8 and M10 together with 1/4-28 and 1/8-27, at 4.4 from 653 ratings. That is not a lab test.

What is a grease nipple?

A grease nipple is a metal check valve. A grease gun fills the joint through it, and a spring-loaded ball closes when the gun comes off. UK buyers use a five-piece straight pack for one measured size, or a workshop assortment on diggers, tractors, quads, trailers and older cars. The boxes here are hydraulic cone nipples in straight, 45° and 90° forms. Trade assortments split into metric-only kits, sometimes with a 1.25 mm pitch as well, and mixed metric, BSP and UNF sets.

Best for

  • A measured spare for a digger, tractor, quad, trailer or older car
  • A workshop box with three head angles, if you sort the case on arrival

Not ideal for

  • A port whose pitch the listing does not print, such as M8 x 1.25 when the label only says M8
  • Track tensioners, stored-pressure rams, and a joint with play or a torn boot

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Reading M8 as one pitch

    M8 x 1 and M8 x 1.25 are different parts. A title that says M6, M8 and M10 has not chosen. M10 x 1 and 1/8 BSP both sit near 10 mm and do not interchange.

  2. 2

    Buying on the piece count

Caps and spanners sit inside the headline number. One 250-piece line is 160 fittings and 90 caps. One 153-piece line is 75 nipples, 75 caps and three spanners.

  3. 3

    Adding shared reviews twice

The two Nikovoke listings share a model number and two delivery reviews. The two Nadisean listings share a 4.6-from-138 line and the same named texts. That is one sample, not two.

What to weigh up

Thread and pitch

High

The first check is the thread on the old nipple or in the manual. Kingfisher treats DIN 71412's common metric sizes as M6 x 1, M8 x 1 and M10 x 1. M8 x 1.25 is a separate part. So are 1/8 x 28 BSPT, 1/4 x 19 BSPT and 1/4-28. SAE J534 is the reference those pages use for 1/4-28 SAE-LT and 1/8-27 PTF. BSP uses a 55° thread form. The 1/8 and 1/4 names are pipe sizes, not the diameter across the crests, so M10 x 1 and 1/8 BSP can both measure near 10 mm and still not interchange.

Head, caps and count

High

Angle does not change the thread. Straight, 45° and 90° only decide whether a jaw coupler can reach the head. A cone head suits a normal coupler. If the listing says angled without degrees, as the IVhomeshop bullet does, you do not know which head is in the bag. Dust caps keep grit off the nipple. Several UK reviews say the dividers in a plastic case fail in transit, so the sizes arrive mixed. That shows up on the IVhomeshop box and on the ANVINKU case.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Plant and trailer spare

You need a spare for a digger, tractor, quad or trailer, and the port might be metric or an inch thread. The Swpeet kit is the top pick at about £16.99. It is the only bullet here that names M6, M8 and M10 with 1/4-28 and 1/8-27. The metric pitch is still unstated, and the 4.4 from 653 is not a UK-only sample.

Workshop three-angle box

You want straight, 45° and 90° heads and caps, and you will measure the old nipple before you fit one. Nadinsta is best value at about £7.89, with 4.4 from 307 ratings and a score of 68. No pitch is printed, and one review reports a soft body that tore.

One measured straight size

You have measured a straight M6 x 1 nipple and you only need that pitch. The Nikovoke size line prints M6 x 1 at about £3.99. The title still says five sizes, the piece-count field says 1, and the two reviews are delivery notes shared with the M8 x 1 listing. Buy it only if the bag matches the size line.

Common questions about grease nipples

What pitch should a grease nipple match?
Match the nipple you removed, or the manual, before you buy a replacement. Common metric sizes on UK trade pages are M6 x 1, M8 x 1 and M10 x 1. M8 x 1.25 is a different part, and so are 1/8 BSP, 1/4 BSP and 1/4-28. A title that only says M6, M8 and M10 has not chosen a pitch. M10 x 1 and 1/8 BSP can both measure near 10 mm and still not screw into the same port.
How much does a grease nipple kit cost on amazon.co.uk?
In this capture the shelf prices run from about £3.99 to about £18.99. About £3.99 is a straight listing whose size line prints one pitch and whose piece-count field says 1. About £7.89 to £13.99 is the middle, including a 100-piece three-angle box and a 130-piece mixed box. About £15.98 to £18.99 is the upper end of these twelve listings. UK trade pages on 21 October 2026 showed boxes that print the pitch at about £23 to £52, depending on VAT. A lower amazon.co.uk price is not the same specification.
Does a 45° or 90° head use a different thread?
No. The angle only decides whether the grease-gun coupler can reach the head. Straight, 45° and 90° can share one thread. If a listing says angled and does not give degrees, you cannot tell which head is in the bag. A cone head suits a normal jaw coupler. Button-head nipples, the DIN 3404 form, and funnel-type nipples, the DIN 3405 form, need a different coupler. The titles in this set claim neither of those forms.
Can M10 x 1 replace a 1/8 BSP grease nipple?
No. M10 x 1 and 1/8 BSP both sit near 10 mm across, and they do not interchange. BSP uses a 55° thread form. The 1/8 and 1/4 names are pipe sizes, not the diameter of the crests. 1/4-28 and 1/8-27 are separate again. SAE J534 is the reference UK trade pages use for those inch fittings. Read the old nipple or the manual. Do not treat the words M6, M8 and M10 as a fit for BSP or for 1/4-28.
Why is the piece count higher than the number of nipples?
Titles often add dust caps, and sometimes a spanner, into the same number. One 250-piece line in this set is 160 fittings plus 90 caps. One 153-piece line is 75 nipples, 75 caps and three spanners. Another title says 100 while the nipple split adds to 65 and the caps make up the rest. Count the nipples after you subtract caps. A case that arrives with the dividers out does not change that arithmetic. Stars do not tell you how many of each size are inside.
What should I do if grease is injected into the skin?
Get urgent medical help. HSE records a fatal injection when a nipple detached during track tensioning, and it says injury may occur from about 7 bar. Hand guns have been tested over 600 bar. Do not reuse a part that has detached under pressure, and match the original fitting. None of these listings states a working pressure. The 400 bar figure on one Pressol gun is a limit for that gun, not a rating for the nipples in this comparison.
When should I stop and call a fitter?
Call a professional if a sheared nipple is in a steering joint, a hub or a universal joint, if the housing thread is stripped, or if the port is a track tensioner or a stored-pressure ram. The same applies if the joint has play or a torn boot. Do not yank a stuck coupler, and do not keep pumping a sealed boot until it bursts. Cleaning the nipple and pressing the ball are ordinary jobs. A track ram is not.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Swpeet 246-piece kit at about £16.99. It scores 70, the highest here: 4.4 from 653 ratings, and the only bullet that names M6, M8 and M10 together with 1/4-28 and 1/8-27. The metric pitch is unstated, the thread-type line says UN, and the captured reviews are not all from the UK. Best value is the Nadinsta 100-piece box at about £7.89, score 68, with three angles, caps and 4.4 from 307 ratings. Its pitch is still unstated, and one review reports a soft body that tore. Neither badge is a laboratory result.
