A hose clamp is the band that holds a flexible hose on a spigot. In the UK you will see it called a hose clip. Household buyers use worm-drive assortments on garden hoses, water butts, ponds and washing-machine drains. Other jobs split three ways: a spring clip under about 10 mm, a worm-drive clip on a low-pressure rubber hose, and a T-bolt when the hose is large, soft or boosted. You tell a suitable clip by the fitted outside diameter, the mechanism and the metal. Measure after the hose is on the fitting, in millimetres, and aim near the middle of the range. The printed maximum often will not close. Worm-drive covers ordinary pressure, a T-bolt suits a large or silicone hose, and a spring clip suits a small line. A title that only says stainless has not chosen 304 or 316. A drip from a water butt is a different consequence from a brake hose, LPG or a mains connection. How those checks fit together is in the [hose clamps buying guide](/hub/hand-tools/hose-clamps/sub/hose-clamps-buying-guide).

The best hose clamps in detail

QBXMY7 24-piece worm-drive set

Rank 1

QBXMY7 24-piece worm-drive set

Our view

The QBXMY7 24-piece set is about £4.78, with 4.8 from only 10 reviews. The split is eight clips of 8–12 mm and four each of 10–16 mm, 16–25 mm, 25–38 mm and 35–51 mm. The title says 304 stainless steel, and the material field on the listing is blank. The five review texts in the file are mostly short praise: the size mix is useful, the edges feel smooth, and the screw turns cleanly. One buyer prefers them to cable ties for holding a hose. One review says the clips are OK and nothing to rave about. No repeated defect is written down. Ten reviews are too small a file to treat 4.8 as a better result than 4.5 from 2,875. The score is 52.

Pros

  • Printed split, with eight of the 8–12 mm clips
  • About £4.78
  • The short reviews mention smooth edges and a screw that turns
  • Title says 304 stainless steel

Cons

  • Only 10 reviews
  • Material field is blank
  • Screw-head shape is not named
  • One review is only lukewarm

Best for: You want a cheap 8–51 mm mix and you will judge the metal in your hand, because the review file is short.

Less suitable: A buyer treating the star line as a quality test, or a joint where a leak is more than a drip.

Common questions

What sizes are in the QBXMY7 24-piece set?

Eight clips of 8–12 mm, and four each of 10–16 mm, 16–25 mm, 25–38 mm and 35–51 mm. The title says 304 stainless steel. The material field on the listing is blank.

Which screwdriver do they need?

The bullets only say an adjustable screw. They do not name flat, cross-head or hex. A review says the screw turns cleanly and the edges feel smooth.

How many reviews back the 4.8 score?

The listing shows 4.8 out of 5 from 10 reviews. The five review texts in the file are mostly short praise. One says the clips are OK but nothing to rave about. No repeated defect is written down.

Gepeyo 24-piece worm-drive set

Rank 2

Gepeyo 24-piece worm-drive set

Our view

The Gepeyo listing is a 24-piece worm-drive set at about £6.99, titled 6–63 mm, with 4.7 from 11 reviews. The bullets include rubber gaskets and a rubber sheet, and a slotted hex-head screw. Several reviews instead describe a 12-piece 10–16 mm pack, so the written file does not confirm the 24-piece title. One review says a clip would not open onto a 16 mm greenhouse hose. Another says the hex corners are too round for a socket and that a flat screwdriver is what worked. One review used clips outdoors and on a washing-machine drain, and one clamped a fuel pipe without the thread stripping. Treat the pieces in the box as the size you have. The score is 42.

Pros

  • Rubber gaskets and a rubber sheet are in the listing
  • About £6.99
  • One review clamped a fuel pipe without the thread stripping
  • A flat screwdriver worked when a socket did not

Cons

  • Reviews describe a 12-piece 10–16 mm pack, not the 24-piece title
  • A clip would not open onto a 16 mm hose in one review
  • Hex corners too round for a socket
  • Only 11 reviews

Best for: You can check the pieces in the box against the hose you measured, and a liner in the listing is what you wanted.

Less suitable: Anyone treating the 6–63 mm title as a proven assortment, or a job that needs a socket on the screw.

Common questions

What size does the Gepeyo listing claim?

The title and bullets say a 24-piece worm-drive set covering 6–63 mm. The saved listing does not split that range into separate counts. Several reviews instead describe a 12-piece 10–16 mm pack, and one says a clip would not open onto a 16 mm hose.

Do these clips include a rubber liner?

Yes. The listing includes rubber gaskets and a rubber sheet, and the bullets say the pads sit between the band and the hose. No review in the file confirms the gaskets on the 6–63 mm title, because the review text describes a smaller pack.

Which driver fits the screw?

The bullets say a slotted hex-head screw for a screwdriver or a socket. A review says the hex corners are too round for a socket and that a flat screwdriver is what works.

Bolatus 16–25 mm ten-pack

Rank 3

Bolatus 16–25 mm ten-pack

Our view

This Bolatus listing is ten worm-drive clips of one range, 16–25 mm, at about £6.99, with 4.6 from 1,901 reviews. There is no assortment to sort through. Buyers who stayed inside the range say the clips did the job, including water-tank connections, and stainless is mentioned for outdoor use. A UK review says a clip will not work on a true 25 mm pipe and suggests a larger clamp if the pipe is already at the printed maximum. One review mentions a 32/50 mm span, which is not this title. The item highlight names petrol and diesel hoses, and that line is a listing claim, not a pressure test. Buy it when a fitted outside diameter sits near the middle of 16–25 mm. The score is 78.

Pros

  • Ten clips of one range, 16–25 mm
  • 4.6 from 1,901 reviews
  • Used on water-tank connections
  • No mixed-size guesswork

Cons

  • A review says the 25 mm maximum will not close on a 25 mm pipe
  • One review describes a different span
  • Fuel-hose wording is a listing claim, not a test

Best for: You have measured a fitted outside diameter inside 16–25 mm, short of the 25 mm mark.

Less suitable: A mixed shed drawer, a pipe already at 25 mm, or a silicone boost hose.

Common questions

Is this one size or a mixed set?

It is one range: 10 pieces of 16–25 mm 304 stainless steel worm-drive clips. There is no assortment split.

Will a clip marked 25 mm close on a 25 mm pipe?

A UK review says it will not work on its 25 mm maximum and suggests a larger clamp if the pipe is 25 mm. Other reviews say the clips worked when the hose was inside the range, including water-tank connections.

Does the listing name fuel hoses?

The item highlight names petrol hoses, diesel lines, water pipes and household gas pipes. The bullets also name water hoses, air-conditioning hoses and bathroom exhaust pipes. That is a listing claim, not a pressure test.

YuetuRoute 20-piece worm-drive set

Rank 4

YuetuRoute 20-piece worm-drive set

Our view

The YuetuRoute listing is 20 worm-drive clips from 6 mm to 38 mm at about £3.99, with 4.6 from 6 reviews. The title says 304 stainless steel. A review says the threads held on an unpressurised waste pipe, and that the band is thinner and less rigid than an old clip. The clips arrived loose in the box. Some reviews describe a 21–38 mm ten-pack rather than the 20-piece title, so the file mixes more than one pack. Six reviews cannot settle whether the 6 mm end of the range is in the box you receive. It is a cheap clip for an unpressurised waste once you have counted the pieces. The score is 37.

Pros

  • About £3.99, the lowest shelf price in this set
  • Title says 304 stainless steel
  • Held an unpressurised waste pipe in one review
  • A screwdriver is the stated driver

Cons

  • Only 6 reviews
  • Band thinner and less rigid than an old clip
  • Some reviews describe a 21–38 mm ten-pack
  • Arrived loose in the box

Best for: An unpressurised waste or a one-off DIY hose, after you count what is in the packet.

Less suitable: A pressurised line, or a buyer who needs the full 6–38 mm split confirmed in the reviews.

Common questions

What range does YuetuRoute print?

The title says 20 pieces of 304 stainless steel worm-drive clips from 6 mm to 38 mm. The piece count for each size inside that span is not printed. Some reviews in the file describe a 21–38 mm ten-pack instead.

How do you tighten them?

The bullets say you loosen and tighten the screw with a screwdriver. One review also mentions a socket. The listing does not name the screw head.

How thick is the band?

Band thickness is not in the listing. One buyer says the band is thinner and less rigid than an old clip, and that it held an unpressurised waste pipe.

Leryati 20-piece worm-drive set

Rank 5

Leryati 20-piece worm-drive set

Our view

Across 2,875 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Leryati 20-piece set scores 4.5 and costs about £5.99. You get four worm-drive clips each of 6–12 mm, 13–19 mm, 16–25 mm, 21–38 mm and 27–51 mm, and the title states 304 stainless steel. Reviewers used that spread on a heater-matrix hose and on a washing machine and tumble dryer, and they describe a firm grip when the size matches. The screw is a flat head, so a cross-head driver does not fit. The band is called thin. One UK review says the clips deformed when they were tightened on an LPG hose, which is a heavier job than a drain. It is the top pick here for a measured low-pressure hose inside that five-size window. The score is 82. That is listing arithmetic, not a pressure test.

Pros

  • Four clips each of five sizes from 6–51 mm
  • 4.5 from 2,875 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Flat-head screw that reviewers could turn
  • Used on a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a heater-matrix hose

Cons

  • Band described as thin
  • One review: deformed when tightened on an LPG hose
  • Flat head only, so a cross-head driver does not fit

Best for: You want a 6–51 mm worm-drive assortment for a washing-machine drain, a heater hose or a similar low-pressure rubber hose, and you will size to the middle of a range.

Less suitable: LPG, brakes, a boosted silicone pipe, or any joint where a thin band bending is unacceptable.

Common questions

Will the Leryati set fit a washing machine?

The listing asks that question, and a review used the clips on a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The set is 20 worm-drive clips, four each of 6–12, 13–19, 16–25, 21–38 and 27–51 mm.

What screw head do they have?

A review says flat head, not cross-head. The bullets only say a screwdriver. The stated metal is 304 stainless steel.

What happened on an LPG hose?

One UK review says the clips were cheap and flimsy, deformed when tightened on an LPG hose, and were not up to that job. Other reviews used them on a heater-matrix hose without that complaint.

WELHAEPI 20-piece worm-drive set

Rank 6

WELHAEPI 20-piece worm-drive set

Our view

The WELHAEPI 20-piece set is about £4.89, with 4.5 from 2,061 amazon.co.uk reviews. The split matches the usual shed assortment: four clips each of 6–12 mm, 13–19 mm, 16–25 mm, 21–38 mm and 27–51 mm. The title says 304 stainless steel, and the model-number field is empty. Reviewers praise the size spread for ordinary plumbing and maintenance, and they call the price good value. The metal is also called very thin, a tight fit is hard to get, and the edges are described as quite sharp. One opened clip was slow to start tightening on a bottom hose. It is the best value here for a low-pressure hose when you will check the edges before you lean on the screw. The value part is 12, the highest among the listings that are not the top pick.

Pros

  • About £4.89 with a printed five-size split
  • 4.5 from 2,061 reviews
  • Buyers report ordinary plumbing and maintenance
  • Title states 304 stainless steel

Cons

  • Band called very thin
  • Edges described as quite sharp
  • A tight fit is not reliable in every review
  • One opened clip was slow to start on a bottom hose

Best for: You want the cheaper 6–51 mm assortment for a garden or plumbing hose, and you will ease a sharp edge if you feel one.

Less suitable: A soft silicone hose, a job that needs a thick band, or a screw you intend to keep turning after it starts to slip.

Are the edges smooth?

The bullets say smooth edges. Reviews disagree: the metal is called very thin, a tight fit is hard to get, and the edges are called quite sharp. One bottom-hose clip was slow to start after it had been opened.

What do you tighten them with?

The bullets say a screwdriver to loosen or tighten the band. The screw-head shape is not named.

Tiugbjkgk spring-clip assortment

Rank 7

Tiugbjkgk spring-clip assortment

Our view

The Tiugbjkgk set is 150 double-ear spring clips, 30 each of 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 mm, in 65 manganese steel, at about £6.98, with 4.5 from 122 reviews. There is no screw. A review squeezes them with pliers. One buyer used them on washer-pump lines on a VW Caddy and replaced rusty clamps under the bonnet. Reviews also say they are too small for many vehicle hoses, and that even the 10 mm size misses many car fuel hoses. The edges feel sharp and can press into the rubber. The listing does not include a storage box. They are a small-line stock for a hose you have measured under 10 mm. The score is 63.

Pros

  • 30 clips each of 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 mm
  • Pliers close them, so there is no screw to strip
  • Used on washer-pump lines
  • 4.5 from 122 reviews

Cons

  • Sizes stop at 10 mm, so many car hoses are too big
  • Sharp edges can press into the rubber
  • Not a branded constant-tension clamp with a published window
  • No storage box on the listing

Best for: You are replacing a washer or breather hose under about 10 mm, and you have pliers.

Less suitable: A radiator hose, a fuel hose larger than 10 mm, or a job that needs a screw clip.

Xiaomoyu 100-piece worm-drive kit

Rank 8

Xiaomoyu 100-piece worm-drive kit

Our view

The Xiaomoyu kit is 100 worm-drive clips from 8–44 mm at about £9.38, with 4.4 from 1,318 reviews, plus a Z-shaped screwdriver in a hard case. The split is printed: 20 of 8–12 mm, 15 of 9–16 mm, 15 of 13–19 mm, and 10 each of 16–25, 19–29, 22–32, 25–38 and 21–44 mm. Reviewers use it for home hoses, a car repair and a shower, and some treat spare pieces as cover for a few duds. A review says the screws need a cross-head driver and that the smallest ones kept slipping. The title says stainless steel and does not say 304. One review says clips rusted after about 45 minutes in tap water. It is a bulk drawer kit if you can spare a dud and you will keep it out of standing water. The score is 64.

Pros

  • 100 clips with a printed eight-size split and a case
  • Z-shaped screwdriver in the box
  • 4.4 from 1,318 reviews
  • Used on home hoses, a car repair and a shower

Cons

  • Rust reported after about 45 minutes in tap water
  • Title does not say 304
  • Small screws slip, and a few pieces were faulty
  • Called light and not very strong

Best for: You want a cased stock of 8–44 mm clips for short indoor jobs, and a faulty piece is acceptable because the count is high.

Less suitable: A pond, a water butt, or any place where a short rust report in tap water rules the kit out.

Common questions

Does the Xiaomoyu kit include a screwdriver?

Yes. The bullets include one Z-shaped screwdriver with the 100 clips. A review says the screws need a cross-head driver and that the smallest ones were hard to tighten.

Does the title say 304?

No. The title is a 100-piece 8–44 mm adjustable set. The bullets and the material field say stainless steel, not 304. One review says clips rusted after about 45 minutes in tap water.

How is the 100-piece count split?

20 of 8–12 mm, 15 of 9–16 mm, 15 of 13–19 mm, and 10 each of 16–25, 19–29, 22–32, 25–38 and 21–44 mm. Pack weight on the listing is 830 g.

Glarks T-bolt assortment

Rank 9

Glarks T-bolt assortment

∼£20

Our view

The Glarks set is 12 T-bolt clamps at about £19.94, with 4.4 from 418 reviews. You get two each of 32–37 mm, 41–46 mm, 51–59 mm, 63–71 mm, 76–84 mm and 108–116 mm. The title says stainless steel. The bullets add zinc plating, and a review notes a plated bolt and a sharp corner on the band. Some buyers say the clamps fitted and did the expected job, and one calls them a quality upgrade. Other reviews report two clamps broken on arrival, clamps that break in use, and a clamp that deformed on a pressurised water hose. It is the only T-bolt assortment here, for a measured window on a large hose, and the reviews have not cleared it for pressure. The score is 52, level with a 24-piece worm-drive set that has 10 reviews. The larger sample is why this row is listed first of that pair. It is not a named high-torque clip.

Pros

  • Six narrow windows from 32 mm to 116 mm, two clamps each
  • 418 reviews, so the size spread is not a handful of comments
  • Some buyers report a fit that did the job
  • A bolt and nut, rather than a worm screw

Cons

  • Breakage on arrival and in use
  • One clamp deformed on a pressurised water hose
  • Zinc plating in the bullets beside a stainless title
  • A sharp band corner noted in a review

Best for: You have measured a fitted outside diameter inside one of those six windows, and you will inspect each clamp before it goes on the hose.

Less suitable: A pressurised water hose, an unknown diameter, or a buyer who wanted an all-stainless high-torque clip from a named maker.

Are they all stainless steel?

The title says stainless steel. The bullets add zinc plating on the surface. A review also notes a plated bolt and a sharp corner on the band.

What do reviews say about pressure?

The bullets say medium to high power use, including intake, intercooler and radiator hoses. One review says a clamp deformed on a pressurised water hose. Other reviews report clamps broken on arrival or breaking in use.

Bolatus 22-piece worm-drive set

Rank 10

Bolatus 22-piece worm-drive set

Our view

The Bolatus 22-piece set covers 6–51 mm at about £5.99, with 4.3 from 1,283 reviews, the lowest star line among the worm-drive packs that have a four-figure sample. The highlight says seven sizes. The bullets do not say how many clips of each size you get. Reviewers used them gently on a pond hose, a washing-machine install and a lawn-mower fuel line. They also call the band thin and light duty, and they say the thread strips if you torque the screw. The bullets only say a screwdriver. They do not name flat, cross-head or hex. It is a wide cheap spread if you stop when the hose is snug. The score is 66.

Pros

  • 22 pieces across a 6–51 mm span at about £5.99
  • Used on a pond hose, a washing machine and a mower fuel line
  • 1,283 reviews, so the thin-band complaint is repeated in a large file
  • A screwdriver is enough when the size matches

Cons

  • Thread strips if you overtighten
  • Band called thin and light duty
  • Piece count per size is not printed
  • 4.3 stars, below the other large worm-drive sets

Best for: You want spare pieces for a pond or a drain, and you will tighten until the hose is snug and then stop.

Less suitable: A joint you would torque with a socket, or a buyer who needs a printed count for each size.

Common questions

How many sizes are in the 22-piece Bolatus set?

The highlight says seven sizes across 6–51 mm. The bullets do not list how many clips of each size you get. The pack is 22 pieces of 304 stainless steel worm-drive clips at about £5.99.

Can you overtighten them?

Reviews say the thread strips if you torque the screw, and that the band is thin and light duty. Buyers who stayed gentle used them on a pond hose, a washing machine and a lawn-mower fuel line.

What driver do they need?

The bullets say a screwdriver. They do not name flat, cross-head or hex.

OVSOVO cut-to-length band

Rank 11

OVSOVO cut-to-length band

∼£10

Our view

The OVSOVO listing is a 5 metre perforated band and 10 worm-gear fasteners at about £9.99, stated as 304 stainless steel, with a pack weight of 370 g. You cut the band to length and tighten the housing with a standard screwdriver. The listing counts 11 items, which is the band plus the ten fasteners, not eleven ready-made clips. It does not print a finished minimum or maximum diameter. The file has no customer-review line and no review text, so there is no star rating to quote. That leaves the buy as a length of band for an odd diameter you already know how to house. Next to the sized packs, it is an unreviewed way to make a clip rather than a tested one. The score is 2.

Pros

  • 5 m of perforated band stated as 304 stainless steel
  • 10 worm-gear fasteners in the box
  • Tightens with a standard screwdriver
  • A length you cut, so the diameter is not limited to one printed window

Cons

  • No customer-review line in the file
  • No finished diameter printed
  • Each clip has to be cut and assembled
  • The 11-item count is the band plus fasteners, not 11 finished clips

Best for: You need one odd diameter that the fixed windows miss, and you can cut the band and fit a housing.

Less suitable: Anyone who wants a reviewed, ready-sized clip, or a joint under pressure.

How we compared

Eleven hose-clamp listings on amazon.co.uk were scored from the listing extract captured on 21 October 2026. Stars are worth up to 35, the review sample up to 25, how the reviews describe the job up to 25, and value in this set up to 15. The highest score is the top pick. Among the others, the highest value part is best value. There is no lab and no pressure bench. A 4.8 from 10 reviews cannot outrank a 4.5 from 2,875 on stars alone.

Hose clamps buying guide

Start with the fitted outside diameter, then the mechanism, then the metal, and leave the star line last. The notes below follow that order for a UK hose clip. None of the scores is a pressure test.

What is a hose clamp?

A hose clamp, often called a hose clip in the UK, is the band that holds a flexible hose on a spigot. A worm-drive clip is a screw and a slotted band. Pressure is highest near the housing. A T-bolt uses a bolt and a nut and a narrower window, which hose sellers use when the hose is large, soft or silicone. A spring clip uses ears and pliers and holds tension on a line under about 10 mm.

Best for

  • A garden hose, water butt, pond or washing-machine drain, once the fitted diameter sits inside a worm-drive range
  • A washer or breather line under about 10 mm, if you have pliers for a spring clip
  • A large or silicone hose whose fitted outside diameter you have already measured

Not ideal for

  • Brakes, LPG, a new mains connection, or a boosted pipe you cannot measure
  • Anyone sizing from the hose bore, or sitting on the printed maximum of the range
  • A buyer who reads a stainless title as a promise that the clip will not rust

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Sizing from the bore

The clip closes on the outside of the hose after it is on the fitting. The bore is smaller than that diameter. Sitting on the printed maximum is the same miss: reviews on single-size packs say that end often will not close.

  2. 2

    Reading stainless as a grade

W4 is all 304 and W5 is all 316. A title that only says stainless has not chosen. Zinc-plated steel and mixed metal corrode sooner. One review on a kit that does not say 304 reports rust after a short soak in tap water.

  3. 3

Using a household clip on brakes or LPG

A water-butt drip is a cheap assortment. A brake hose, an LPG joint or a mains connection is not. Do not copy a named maker’s torque table, or test pressures from a withdrawn standard, onto these packs. Stop if the thread skips.

What to weigh up

Fitted diameter

High

Measure the outside diameter after the hose is pushed onto the spigot, in millimetres, and choose a clip whose middle contains that number. Jubilee and RS both tell you to measure on the fitting. The printed maximum is a poor target. Reviews on a 16–25 mm ten-pack say a clip will not close on a true 25 mm pipe, and a review of a titled 6–63 mm set says a clip would not open onto a 16 mm hose. Sizing from the bore makes the same error from the other direction.

Mechanism, metal and driver

High

Worm-drive is the usual clip for ordinary pressure and a wide range, with a practical floor around 9.5 mm. A T-bolt is the short, even clamp for silicone and boost, and only after the fitted diameter sits inside one printed window. A spring clip is for heat cycling or a line under about 10 mm. It needs pliers, not a screwdriver. Pressure on a worm-drive is highest near the housing, so the band has to be thick enough not to strip when you snug it. Then read the metal. All-304 is W4.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Shed and kitchen

You want several sizes for a drain, a water butt or a washing-machine hose, and a thin band is acceptable. The Leryati 20-piece set is about £5.99, with 4.5 from 2,875 reviews. Reviews name a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a heater-matrix hose. One review says a clip deformed on an LPG hose.

Light vehicle and mower

You are matching a small fuel, washer or heater hose, not buying a universal car set. The Bolatus 22-piece set is about £5.99, with 4.3 from 1,283 reviews. Reviews name a pond hose, a washing machine and a lawn-mower fuel line. The thread strips if you keep turning the screw.

Silicone or a large hose

You have measured the fitted outside diameter and you want a T-bolt in that window. The Glarks set is about £19.94, with 4.4 from 418 reviews, two clamps in each of six windows from 32 mm to 116 mm. Reviews include breakage and a clamp that deformed on a pressurised water hose. If you cannot measure the hose, leave the job.

Common questions about hose clamps

Which hose clamp is the top pick in this comparison?
The top pick is the Leryati 20-piece worm-drive set, about £5.99, with 4.5 from 2,875 amazon.co.uk reviews. You get four clips each of five sizes from 6 mm to 51 mm, stated as 304 stainless steel. Reviews name a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a heater-matrix hose. The band is called thin, and one review says a clip deformed on an LPG hose. The score is 82 from the listing extract, not a lab test.
Which hose clamp is the best value?
The best value is the WELHAEPI 20-piece worm-drive set, about £4.89, with 4.5 from 2,061 reviews. Its value part is 12, the highest among the listings that are not the top pick. The printed split is four clips of each of five sizes from 6 mm to 51 mm, and the title says 304 stainless steel. Reviews call the band thin and the edges sharp. Use it on a low-pressure hose and stop when the joint is snug.
How much do hose clamps cost on amazon.co.uk?
On these eleven amazon.co.uk extracts from 21 October 2026, shelf prices run from about £3.99 to about £19.94. Most worm-drive assortments sit between about £3.99 and £6.99. Spring clips are about £6.98, a 100-piece kit about £9.38, and a cut-to-length band about £9.99. The T-bolt assortment is about £19.94. These figures are the display file, not a live re-check.
What should you check before you buy a hose clamp?
Measure the outside diameter after the hose is on the fitting, in millimetres, and aim near the middle of the printed range. The printed maximum often will not close. Choose worm-drive for ordinary pressure, a T-bolt for a large or silicone hose, and a spring clip under about 10 mm. Read whether the metal is 304, 316, or only the word stainless. A 4.8 from 10 reviews is not the same evidence as 4.5 from 2,875.
Is a worm-drive clip the same as a T-bolt or a band clamp?
No. A worm-drive clip is a screw and a slotted band. A T-bolt uses a bolt and a nut on a narrower window, for a large, soft or silicone hose you have measured. A spring clip has no screw, and the sizes here stop at 10 mm. A strap around a frame is a different tool, covered in the band clamp comparison.
Does a stainless title mean the clip will not rust?
No. A title that only says stainless has not chosen 304 or 316. All-304 is the usual household grade, and all-316 is the marine grade. On the 100-piece kit, which does not say 304, one review reports rust after about 45 minutes in tap water. None of these listings shows a Kitemark. BS 5315:1991 was withdrawn on 5 March 2024, and its old test pressures do not transfer onto these packs.
When should you stop and call a professional?
Call a professional for brakes, LPG, a new mains connection, a boosted pipe you cannot measure, and an air-tool hose if you lack the maker’s tightening advice. Do not open a hot cooling system. A burst air hose is a hazard. Rule of thumb: tighten until the hose is snug, check for a leak, and stop if the thread skips. If the box does not match the title, that is a description problem under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
