A Rali plane is a Swiss hand plane with a blade you flip and then replace. In the UK you buy one to take a shaving from an arris, a small face, a longer board or a rebate when you do not want to hone an iron. The UK shop describes the chrome blade as not resharpenable, and the body as stamped sheet. Width is the wider iron for faces and arrises, or the narrower iron for a rebate and a bullnose. Length is a short body for one hand, a longer body for two hands, or a bench length that is still not a try plane. The sole is the light pattern with one adjustment, or the heavier pattern with two. For all woods means a carbide blade you buy separately. The red lever sets depth and retracts the blade when it is fully up. Consumers rely on the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The ranges and the two blade widths are set out in the [Rali plane buying guide](/hub/hand-tools/rali-plane/sub/rali-plane-buying-guide).

The best Rali planes in detail

Rali 260 Evolution N

Rank 1

Rali 260 Evolution N

∼£179

Our view

The Rali 260 Evolution N is the long bench plane that names three settings, at about £178.66, with four reversible 48 mm chrome blades and a weight of 1.19 kg. It measures 27 × 5.5 × 13 cm, model 101677, and the bullets say the mouth is opened with a small wrench stored in the handle. Across 7 ratings the line is 5.0, so the score is 71, second in this folder, on a sample of two texts from France and Germany. Those texts say precise adjustment and professional quality, and they are not UK reviews. There is no criticism in the file, which is a thin file rather than a clean UK record. Carbide is a swap and is not in the box. The material field says Wood, the base is listed as metal, and the bullets name nickel. A 260 is not a try plane.

Pros

  • Four reversible 48 mm chrome blades at about £178.66
  • Depth, chipbreaker and mouth all named, with a wrench in the handle
  • 1.19 kg and 27 × 5.5 × 13 cm, model 101677
  • 5.0 from 7 ratings, though both texts are from outside the UK

Cons

  • Only two review texts, from France and Germany, so 5.0 from 7 is a small sample
  • Dearer than the 105 Evolution N by about £75 for a longer body
  • Carbide is not in the box
  • Material field says Wood while the base line says metal

Best for: Two-handed surfacing in this capture when you want four blades and a named mouth

Less suitable: A first small plane, a 30 mm rebate, or anyone treating 5.0 from 7 as a larger sample than 4.6 from 35

Common questions

What can you adjust?

The bullets name cutting depth, the chipbreaker and the mouth. The mouth uses a small wrench stored in the handle.

How many blades are supplied?

Four chrome blades, 48 mm. Carbide is described as a swap and is not in the included components.

Where are the reviews from?

The listing prints 5.0 from 7. The two texts in the file are from France and Germany. There is no UK review text.

Rali 105 Monobloc

Rank 2

Rali 105 Monobloc

∼£46

Our view

The Rali 105 Monobloc takes a one-handed shaving on an arris or a small face, at about £46.31 with one reversible 48 mm chrome blade and a lever for depth. It weighs 400 g and measures 13 × 5.5 × 5 cm, model 108257, and the bullets call the sole lightweight. Across 178 amazon.co.uk ratings the line is 4.6, the largest count in this folder, which is why the score is 91 and this row is the top pick. The 50 texts in the file are from Germany, Italy, France and Spain, not the United Kingdom, and the same block is copied onto the 220 Monobloc listing. Those non-UK comments praise a sharp replaceable edge and a fast lever, and they also mention a plastic depth lever, spare blades that cost enough to notice, and a light body that is harder to start and leave than a heavier plane. One French review could not leave a door edge flat, said the edge dug in, and finished with a sander. An Italian review says an older blade family no longer fits. The base-material field says Wood, no case is named, and the spare-parts line says 5 years.

Pros

  • One reversible 48 mm chrome blade and a depth lever, at about £46.31
  • 400 g and 13 × 5.5 × 5 cm, described as one-handed with a lightweight sole
  • 4.6 from 178 ratings, the largest count in this folder
  • Non-UK texts praise a sharp replaceable edge for arrises and small jobs

Cons

  • None of the 50 texts is a UK review, and the same file is copied onto the 220
  • Non-UK comments mention a plastic lever, low mass at the start of a cut, and spare-blade cost
  • One French review could not flatten a door edge and finished with a sander
  • Base-material field says Wood, and an older blade family may not fit

Best for: Arrises and small faces when you want the light 105 and a single chrome blade

Less suitable: A 30 mm rebate, a two-handed bench plane, or anyone reading the 178 ratings as UK reviews of the 220

Common questions

Is the sole the heavy one?

The bullets call it a lightweight sole. The style field is BLOCK PLANE 105 MONOBLOC. The listing weight is 400 g and the size is 13 × 5.5 × 5 cm.

Are the 178 reviews from the UK?

The file has 50 texts from Germany, Italy, France and Spain. There is no United Kingdom review in the file. The same texts are copied on the 220 Monobloc listing.

What do those reviews complain about?

A plastic lever, low mass at the start of a cut, the price of spare blades, and one door edge that was not left flat. None of that is a UK review.

Rali 220 Monobloc

Rank 3

Rali 220 Monobloc

∼£78

Our view

The Rali 220 Monobloc is listed as a bench plane at about £77.65, 1.2 kg, and 22.5 × 5.5 × 13.5 cm, model 8256. The page prints 4.6 from 178 ratings, but the 50 texts are byte-identical to the 105 Monobloc file and talk about a small one-handed plane, so they are not used as 220 opinion. The score stays at 64, the star part only, with no bonus for that copied count. The bullets call the sole lightweight and say depth is set by a lever, and they mention a second adjustment without naming it. The cutting-width field says 5.5 cm, while included components say Hand Planer, so the number of blades in the box is not stated. No case is named. The base-material field says Wood, and the spare-parts line says 10 years. Best sellers rank places it at 114 in Block Planes, which is a strange shelf for a 220 mm bench plane.

Pros

  • 220 mm bench plane at about £77.65 and 1.2 kg, with a lever for depth
  • Cutting-width field of 5.5 cm, in the 48 mm family
  • Lightweight sole named in the bullets, made in Switzerland
  • Spare-parts line of 10 years on the listing

Cons

  • The 178 ratings and 50 texts belong to the 105 Monobloc file
  • A second adjustment is mentioned and not named
  • Blade count in the box is not stated, and no case is named
  • Base-material field says Wood

Best for: A longer light sole when you already know this is model 8256 and you ignore the copied 178

Less suitable: Anyone shopping the star count as proof about this 220, or a rebate that needs a 30 mm blade

Common questions

Do the 178 reviews describe this 220?

The 50 texts in the saved listing are byte-identical to the 105 Monobloc file and talk about a small one-handed plane. They are not used here as 220 opinion. The score keeps the star part only.

How wide is the cutter?

The cutting-width field says 5.5 cm. A separate blade count is not in the included-components line, which says Hand Planer.

Does it come with a case?

No case is named. The spare-parts line on the listing says 10 years.

Rali 105 Evolution N

Rank 4

Rali 105 Evolution N

∼£104

Our view

The Rali 105 Evolution N is a one-handed block plane at about £104.08, with four reversible 48 mm chrome blades, depth and a chipbreaker, and a heavy sole on the style line. It weighs 400 g, measures 13 × 5.5 × 5 cm, and is model 108768 in metallic grey. Across 35 amazon.co.uk ratings the line is 4.6, and the score is 70. The one UK review in this whole folder is on this listing: it calls the plane heavier than expected for a modular body, comfortable, with a sharp blade and precise depth and sole-plate adjustment, and it says the plane did not feel cheap. Nine texts were read, and the other eight are from Germany, Spain and France. One German review says the pitch is much too steep for the size and calls the plane unusable. That is a single non-UK text, not a UK fault. Carbide is described as a swap and is not in the box, no case is named, and the spare-parts line says 2 years.

Pros

  • Four reversible 48 mm chrome blades, plus depth and a chipbreaker
  • Heavy sole on the style line, one-handed, 400 g, model 108768
  • 4.6 from 35 ratings
  • The only UK review text in this folder praises the weight, the edge and the adjustments

Cons

  • About £104.08 against about £46.31 for the light 105 with one blade
  • One German review calls the pitch too steep and the plane unusable
  • Carbide is not in the box, and no case is named
  • Eight of the nine texts are not from the United Kingdom

Best for: Arrises and small faces when you want four chrome blades and the heavier sole line

Less suitable: A two-handed bench plane, a 30 mm rebate, or oak on day one without a separate carbide blade

Common questions

How many blades are in the box?

The included-components line says four chrome blades, 48 mm. Carbide is described as a swap and is not listed in the box.

Does it come with a case?

No case is named in the included components. The box line is the plane and four chrome blades.

What did the UK review say?

The one UK review in the file praises the weight, a sharp blade, and the depth and sole-plate adjustment. It says the plane did not feel cheap.

Rali rebate plane, title G30

Rank 5

Rali rebate plane, title G30

∼£107

Our view

The amazon title says G30 Evolution N, the style field says a one-hand rebate plane G03, and the model number is 105715, at about £107.01. That code is the maker’s G03 code. The UK shop describes the G30 as two-handed, with the guide supplied. The box line here is one 30 mm chrome blade, depth by a red lever, and a heavy sole with the blade in the centre. The listing weight is 1.13 kg and the dimensions are 14 × 3 × 6.4 cm. A G03 sheet gives 0.458 kg, so the weights disagree and the table keeps the amazon figure. It prints 4.5 from 16 ratings, but the four texts are the same four as the B30 file, none of them from the United Kingdom, so the score is 63 from the stars only. Those texts are generic praise, and one German review calls the plane a good addition to a Rali 220 Evolution, which does not identify this body. The bullets call the guide optional, and included components do not list it. The material field says stainless steel and the base field says Wood.

Pros

  • One 30 mm chrome blade and a red depth lever at about £107.01
  • Heavy sole with the blade in the centre, one-handed on the style line
  • Model 105715 is printed, so you can check the code against the title
  • Dimensions 14 × 3 × 6.4 cm are printed

Cons

  • Title says G30 and the style field says one-hand G03
  • The 16 ratings share their four texts with the B30, and none is from the UK
  • The guide is called optional and is not in the box line
  • Listing weight is 1.13 kg, and the base-material field says Wood

Best for: A one-handed 30 mm rebate plane once you have matched model 105715 to the body you expect

Less suitable: A two-handed G30 with the guide in the box, or anyone buying from the title word G30 alone

Common questions

Is this the G30 or the G03?

The title says G30 EVO N. The style field says one hand rebate plane G03. The model number is 105715, the maker’s G03 code. The UK shop describes the G30 as two-handed, with the guide supplied. The listing does not resolve that.

Is the side guide in the box?

The bullets call the guide optional. Included components list one 30 mm chrome blade only.

Are the 16 reviews about this plane only?

The four texts in the file are the same four texts as the B30 listing, and none is from the United Kingdom. The score uses the stars only.

Rali B30 Evolution N

Rank 6

Rali B30 Evolution N

∼£114

Our view

The Rali B30 Evolution N is the bullnose in this set, with the blade at the front so it can finish a rebate into a corner, at about £114.47. It weighs 460 g, measures 14 × 3 × 6.5 cm, and ships with one 30 mm chrome blade, model 106142-2. Depth is a red lever, and the bullets call it one-handed with a heavy sole. The listing prints 4.5 from 16 ratings, the same four texts as the G-titled listing, including one that mentions a 220 Evolution, so they are not B30-only and not from the United Kingdom. The score is 63 from the stars, with no count bonus. Both material fields say Wood, which clashes with a heavy-sole bullet. No UK complaint is in the file because no UK text is in the file.

Pros

  • Blade at the front for finishing rebates and corners, at about £114.47
  • One 30 mm chrome blade, 460 g, model 106142-2
  • Red lever for depth, described as one-handed
  • Dimensions 14 × 3 × 6.5 cm are printed

Cons

  • The 4.5 from 16 is the other rebate file, and one text mentions a 220 Evolution
  • No UK review text
  • Both material fields say Wood
  • One blade only, and carbide is not in the box

Best for: Cleaning a rebate into a corner after a centre-blade 30 mm plane has opened the cut

Less suitable: The only rebate plane in the bag, or a wide face that needs a 48 mm iron

Common questions

What is it for, on this listing?

The bullets say the blade is at the front, for finishing rebates and corners, and that it complements centre-blade G30 and G03 planes.

What is the material field?

Both the material field and the base-material field say Wood. The bullets say a heavy sole. The weight is 460 g.

Are the 16 reviews only about the B30?

The four texts match the other rebate listing in this folder. One mentions a 220 Evolution. None is from the United Kingdom. The score keeps the stars only.

Rali Pocket rebate plane

Rank 7

Rali Pocket rebate plane

∼£48

Our view

The Rali Pocket is the small rebate plane in this set, listed at about £47.99 with a 30 mm cutting-width field and depth set by a red lever. The listing weight is 580 g and the dimensions are 10.5 × 14.5 × 9 cm, model 108076. It scores 4.4 from 49 amazon.co.uk ratings, and the score is 69. Among the rows that are not the top pick, that score against about £47.99 is the best value on this page. Included components say Hand Planer, so a guide is not in the box line. One Italian review says a guide described on the listing was missing, and that the chrome blade seemed poor on harder work. Those texts, and a French review that calls it almost unusable for a knowledgeable amateur without giving a reason, are not from the United Kingdom. Chrome or carbide is named, but the blade count in the box is not stated. The UK shop sheet for this plane is 0.338 kg, which does not match the 580 g listing weight. The table keeps the amazon figure.

Pros

  • 30 mm cutting-width field and a red depth lever at about £47.99
  • 4.4 from 49 ratings, on a review file of its own
  • Non-UK texts mention linings, a sticking wooden door, and small touch-up
  • Highest score per pound among the rows that are not the top pick

Cons

  • The guide is not in the included-components line, and one Italian review says it was missing
  • That same review says the chrome blade seemed poor on harder work
  • One French review calls it almost unusable and gives no reason
  • No UK review text, and the blade count in the box is not stated

Best for: A small rebate or a tight spot when you have checked that a fence is not in the box

Less suitable: A wide face that needs a 48 mm blade, or a two-handed rebate plane with the guide supplied

The cutting-width field says 30 mm. The blade count is not in the included-components line.

Non-UK texts mention touch-up and tight spots. One French review says it was almost unusable for a knowledgeable amateur and gives no reason. No UK text is in the file.

Rali 105 Evolution B

Rank 8

Rali 105 Evolution B

∼£83

Our view

The listing titled 105 EVO B is about £82.98 for one 48 mm chrome blade, 400 g, and 13 × 5.5 × 5 cm, model 101678. The style field says 105 Monoblock, while the bullets describe a heavy sole and a depth or counter adjustment. Model 101678 matches the shop’s Evolution B sheet. Across 2 ratings the line is 3.1, so the score is 44, the lowest scored plane that has any reviews. A German review says the blade arrived skewed, could not be adjusted, and was returned. A French review praises the feel and the settings and says blade life is not yet known, and that review also covers a 220 EVO B bought at the same time. Neither text is from the United Kingdom. No case is in the box, the spare-parts line says 2 years, and a chip-life bullet says 1.6 m on spruce.

Pros

  • One 48 mm chrome blade, with a heavy sole described in the bullets
  • Model 101678, the Evolution B code, at 400 g and 13 × 5.5 × 5 cm
  • A French review likes the feel and the settings, though it is not a UK review
  • Spare-parts line of 2 years

Cons

  • Title says 105 EVO B and the style field says 105 Monoblock
  • 3.1 from 2 ratings, with one return for a skewed blade
  • That return and the praise are not UK reviews
  • Chip-life bullet says 1.6 m on spruce, and no case is included

Best for: A buyer who has confirmed model 101678 is the Evolution B they want, and who will check the edge on arrival

Less suitable: A first Rali chosen from the title alone, or anyone treating 3.1 from 2 as a settled UK verdict

Rali 105 Monobloc and 10 blades

Rank 9

Rali 105 Monobloc and 10 blades

∼£88

Our view

This row is the 105 Monobloc plus ten double-sided 48 mm chrome blades, at about £87.99, with 11 items on the listing and a weight of 400 g. Model 108257 matches the single-blade Monobloc, while the part number is 118306. There is no customer-review line and no review text, so the score is 0. Depth is by lever, and the bullets name a steel sole. The cutting-width field says 10.5 cm, which matches the 105 mm body length in the bullets rather than the 48 mm blades. Dimensions are not printed, and no case is listed. You are paying for spare chrome edges on the same light 105, and you have no star line to set beside the about £46.31 Monobloc.

Pros

  • Ten double-sided 48 mm chrome blades with the 105 Monobloc
  • 11 items listed, model 108257, part number 118306
  • Depth by lever, and a steel sole named in the bullets
  • 400 g, the same weight line as the single-blade 105

Cons

  • No review line and no review text, so the score is 0
  • Cutting-width field says 10.5 cm, which is the body length, not the blade
  • About £87.99 against about £46.31 for the same model with one blade
  • No case and no printed dimensions

Best for: A 105 Monobloc buyer who wants a stock of 48 mm chrome blades in the same order

Less suitable: A different plane, a carbide edge, or a rebate that needs 30 mm blades

Rali 260 Evolution B

Rank 10

Rali 260 Evolution B

∼£155

Our view

The Rali 260 Evolution B is listed at about £155.30 with one 48 mm chrome blade, depth and a chipbreaker, a lever and a red wheel, and an adjustable heavy sole in the bullets. The dimensions are 26 × 6 × 13 cm and the model is 101677-A. The weight cell says 340 g, which is a light figure for a 260 mm bench plane and is the figure the listing prints. The UK shop sheet is about 1.475 kg, and the shop price was lower than amazon, at £109 against about £155.30. The table keeps the amazon weight and the amazon price. There is no review line and no review text, so the score is 0. A chip-life bullet says 1.6 m, while other Rali listings in this folder say 1,600 m or 1 mile, so that line is a conflict rather than a measured life. No case is in the included components, and the spare-parts line says 2 years. Rank 14 in Jack Planes does not replace a missing star line.

Pros

  • 260 mm bench plane with depth and a chipbreaker named
  • One 48 mm chrome blade, model 101677-A
  • Dimensions 26 × 6 × 13 cm, and an adjustable heavy sole in the bullets
  • Spare-parts line of 2 years

Cons

  • No review line, so the score is 0, at about £155.30
  • Listing weight is 340 g
  • Chip-life bullet says 1.6 m, against 1,600 m or 1 mile on other rows here
  • One blade only, and no case is listed

Best for: A 260 Evolution B when you have checked model 101677-A and you can accept a listing with no reviews

Less suitable: A buyer who wants four blades, a mouth wrench in the handle, or a star line before paying about £155.30

Common questions

What is in the box?

One 48 mm chrome blade. A case is not in the included components. There is no review line, so the score is 0.

What does the listing say you can set?

Depth and the chipbreaker, with a lever and a red wheel. The bullets also call the sole an adjustable heavy sole.

What weight is printed?

340 g, and the dimensions are 26 × 6 × 13 cm. That is the listing figure. The UK shop sheet is about 1.475 kg. The table does not choose between them.

Rali Systainer 220 set

Rank 11

Rali Systainer 220 set

∼£349

Our view

The Rali Systainer listing is a case set at about £348.99 and 3.6 kg, model 118216, in black and red, with no customer-review line and a score of 0. The highlight names a 220 bench plane, a G30 rebate plane, a scraper and a T-Loc case. The included-components line names a pocket plane and a 220 Evolution B or a 105 Evolution B, plus mixed blades, a scraper and a case. Both 48 mm and 30 mm appear, and the blade counts do not agree between those lines. The number of items is 10. You cannot tell from the page which planes will be in the box, so the price is not a shortcut around choosing a single plane. Switzerland is the country of origin, and there is no star line to lean on.

Pros

  • A stackable case is named on both contents lines
  • A scraper and chrome blades are named on both lines
  • Model 118216 at a printed weight of 3.6 kg
  • Both 48 mm and 30 mm widths appear, if the box matches one of the lines

Cons

  • Highlight and included components name different planes
  • No review line, so the score is 0, at about £348.99
  • Blade counts disagree between the two contents lines
  • You cannot confirm a G30, a 220, or a 105 from a single line

Best for: A buyer who has asked the seller which two planes are actually in model 118216

Less suitable: A first single plane, or anyone paying about £348.99 from the highlight alone

Are there reviews?

The saved listing has no review line and no review texts. The score is 0.

What else is listed?

Both lines mention a scraper and chrome blades, plus a Systainer case. The item weight is 3.6 kg. The number of items is 10.

How we compared

Shelf prices, stars and review counts are the amazon.co.uk figures already in the display file, captured on 22 October 2026. This is not a lab test. Each scored row is the star part plus the sample part, then rounded to the nearest whole number. The maximum is 100. A millimetre or a gram is the figure the listing prints. If two lines disagree, the score does not pick a winner.

1

Stars

70%

The amazon.co.uk rating divided by 5, then multiplied by 70. A listing with no customer-review line scores 0. There is no star part and no sample part.

2

Sample

30%

30 times the review count, capped at 200, divided by 200. If the review text is byte-identical to another listing in this folder, the sample part is withheld and the score keeps the star part only. A copied count is not given a second bonus on the plane that owns the text.

Rali plane buying guide

Choose the blade width first, then the range, then the length. A light sole with one blade and a heavy sole with four blades are different tools. A title that says G30 is not a measurement of the body in the box.

What is a Rali plane?

A Rali plane is a Swiss hand plane, SAMVAZ on the listings, with a blade you flip and then replace. You buy one in the UK when you will not hone in the van or at the bench. The UK shop says the chrome blade is not resharpenable and the body is stamped sheet. You choose a length, then a range, then a blade width. The short body is for an arris or a small face. The middle and long bodies are for two hands. The longest of those is still not a try plane. Blade width comes first.

Best for

  • A site joiner who will not hone, if the sole and the width match
  • A hobbyist who will flip a chrome blade rather than learn to sharpen
  • A Bailey owner who wants a 30 mm rebate and checks the box for a guide

Not ideal for

  • A wide face with a 30 mm iron, or a rebate with a 48 mm iron
  • Quoting 1,600 metres, or a copied review count, as your own test

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Buying the wrong blade width

48 mm fits the short, middle and long face planes. 30 mm fits the pocket, the G-style rebate planes and the bullnose. A 48 mm iron will not cut a rebate, and a 30 mm iron will not cover a wide face.

  2. 2

Reading for all woods as the blade in the box

That phrase means a carbide swap. Carbide is not included. Chrome is the blade these planes ship with, for soft to medium wood. The UK shop listed a 48 mm carbide blade as a separate buy.

  3. 3

Trusting a copied star line or a G30 title

The 220 Monobloc prints 4.6 from 178, and the text is the 105 Monobloc file from outside the UK. The listing titled G30 is styled as a one-hand G03, model 105715. The shop’s G30 is two-handed, with the guide supplied.

What to weigh up

Blade width

High

Width is the first check because it decides the job. 48 mm fits the 105, 220 and 260 bodies, which are the face and arris planes. 30 mm fits the Pocket, the G03, the listing titled G30, and the B30 bullnose. Carbide for hardwood is a separate buy in that same width. The UK shop listed one 48 mm carbide blade at £25.20 and two 48 mm chrome blades at £8.51. Chrome is what these planes include, for soft to medium wood.

Range and length

High

After the width, the range tells you the sole and the adjustments. Monobloc is a light sole, one adjustment and one blade. Evolution N on the 105 card is a heavy sole, two adjustments and four blades. Evolution B is a heavy sole and two adjustments, with one blade on the sheets that were read. Length then splits the job. A 105 is for an arris or a small face, in one hand. A 220 or a 260 is for two hands. A 260 is not a try plane.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Site joiner who will not hone

You will not hone in the van, so the sole and the width have to match the job. The Rali 105 Monobloc is the light one-handed body with one 48 mm chrome blade and a depth lever, at about £46.31. It is the wrong width for a 30 mm rebate.

Hobbyist who will not sharpen

You do not want to learn to sharpen. The Rali 105 Evolution N lists four reversible 48 mm chrome blades, a heavy sole and a chipbreaker, at about £104.08. It holds the only UK review text in this folder. Carbide for hardwood is not in the box.

A 30 mm rebate beside a Bailey

You already hone a bench plane and you want a 30 mm rebate or a tight spot. The Rali Pocket is the small rebate plane at about £47.99, with depth set by a red lever. Check the box: included components say Hand Planer, and a guide is not in that line.

Common questions about Rali planes

Which Rali plane is the top pick in this set?
The top pick is the Rali 105 Monobloc at about £46.31. It scores 91, the highest total here, from 4.6 across 178 amazon.co.uk ratings, with one reversible 48 mm chrome blade and a depth lever. The listing weight is 400 g, and the bullets call the sole lightweight. The 50 texts in the file are from Germany, Italy, France and Spain, not the United Kingdom, and the same block is copied onto the 220 Monobloc listing.
Which Rali plane is the best value in this set?
The best value is the Rali Pocket rebate plane at about £47.99. It scores 69, from 4.4 across 49 amazon.co.uk ratings, with a 30 mm cutting-width field and a red lever for depth. Among the rows that are not the top pick and that score above zero, that score against the shelf price is the highest score per pound on this page. Included components say Hand Planer, so a guide is not in the box line. The review texts in the file are not from the United Kingdom.
How much does a Rali plane cost on amazon.co.uk?
On these amazon.co.uk listings, captured on 22 October 2026, the entry prices are about £46.31 and about £47.99. The middle band runs from about £77.65 to about £114.47. The two 260 mm bench planes are about £155.30 and about £178.66. The case set is about £348.99. A carbide blade is a separate buy of about £25 and leaves the entry band. These are the shelf prices used here, not a promise of the next price.
What blade width should you buy?
Choose 48 mm for the short block planes and the longer bench planes, and 30 mm for a pocket rebate plane, a G-style rebate plane or a bullnose. Chrome is the blade in the box, for soft to medium wood. Carbide for hardwood is the same width and is not included. For all woods on a box means that carbide swap, not the chrome edge you already have. Buying 48 mm for a rebate, or 30 mm for a wide face, is the usual mismatch.
Are the star ratings UK reviews of that plane?
The only UK review text in this folder is on the 105 Evolution N. It praises the weight, a sharp blade, and the depth and sole-plate adjustment. The 220 Monobloc prints 4.6 from 178, and the text is the 105 Monobloc file, from outside the UK. The listing titled G30 and the B30 share the same four texts, and neither file is a UK review. A 5.0 from 7 on the 260 Evolution N is two texts from France and Germany.
Is the listing titled G30 the two-handed G30?
The amazon title G30 is not, on its own, the two-handed G30 with a guide in the box. That listing is titled G30, styled as a one-hand G03, and the model number is 105715, which is the maker’s G03 code. The UK shop describes the G30 as two-handed, with the guide supplied. This listing calls the guide optional, and the components line is one 30 mm blade. Match the model number before you buy from the title word G30.
Do the amazon weights match the UK shop?
The listing weight and the UK shop sheet disagree on the Pocket, the G-titled rebate plane and the 260 Evolution B. The Pocket listing says 580 g and the shop sheet says 0.338 kg. The G-titled listing says 1.13 kg and a G03 sheet says 0.458 kg. The 260 Evolution B listing says 340 g and the shop sheet is about 1.475 kg. This comparison keeps the amazon.co.uk figure in the table and does not pick a winner between the two lines.
When should you stop and call a joiner?
Retract the blade before you set the plane down. At work in Great Britain, PUWER 1998 covers an employer’s tools and a self-employed person’s own tools. HSE L114 excludes hand-held tools from the machinery book. Northern Ireland uses PUWER (NI) 1999. A hobbyist at home is outside both. Consumers have the Consumer Rights Act 2015, sections 9 and 11. Get a joiner for a twisted door, a bent sole, or a finish you cannot start cleanly. A plane you hone is a different tool, in the hand plane comparison.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Rali 105 Monobloc. It scores 91, with 4.6 from 178 amazon.co.uk ratings, one reversible 48 mm chrome blade and a depth lever, at about £46.31. Those texts are not from the United Kingdom, and the same block is copied onto the 220 Monobloc listing. The best value is the Rali Pocket rebate plane at about £47.99. It scores 69 from 4.4 across 49 ratings, and that score per pound is the highest among the other rows that score above zero. A guide is not in the included-components line.
