Brushless cordless drill comparison 2026

The best brushless cordless drills, compared.

Top pick: Bosch Professional GSB 18V-65, two 5.0 Ah batteries Best value: LEEIKOO 21V brushless hammer drill, two 2.0 Ah batteries – Low shelf price at about £32.20 with a stated hammer, a 10 mm chuck and two 2.0 Ah packs named in the bullets, 4.5 from 216, after the thinner included-components line. Updated October 2026.

A brushless cordless drill is a battery drill whose motor is switched electronically, so there are no carbon brushes to wear. UK shoppers use one as a drill-driver, with rotation and a clutch and no hammer, or as a combi drill, which adds a hammer for ordinary brick and block. An SDS rotary hammer is a different tool. BS EN 62841-2-1 covers hand-held drills and impact drills, and it does not cover rotary hammers. You tell a suitable drill by the job. Flat-pack and light shelves sit in a rough 40–50 Nm band, used here as a rule of thumb. Plugs in ordinary brick need a combi and a masonry bit. Engineering brick, a concrete lintel or many large holes need an SDS tool. Check that a battery and a charger are in the box, or that you already own the platform if the body is bare. A 21 V badge is often about 18 V nominal. How the motors compare on light work is in [brushless and brushed drills](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/brushless-cordless-drill/sub/brushless-cordless-drill-vs-brushed).

The best brushless cordless drills in detail

Bosch Professional GSB 18V-65, two 5.0 Ah batteries

Rank 1

Bosch Professional GSB 18V-65, two 5.0 Ah batteries

∼£200

Our view

This GSB 18V-65 kit puts two GBA 18V 5.0 Ah packs, a GAL 18V-40 charger and an L-BOXX in the box at £199.98. All three UK reviews praise the torque for the size and a solid metal chuck, and they mention dual LED lights and switchable KickBack Control. The chuck field is 13 mm, the speed line is 2,000 rpm, and the item weight is 1.1 kg. The maximum-torque field says 55 Nm while the torque field and the bullets say 65 Nm. The drill-type field says basic drill, the rank is Combi Drills, and the bullets still do not say hammer. One UK review describes the packs as 4.0 Ah and says the charger does one battery at a time, about two hours for a full charge, against a listing that says two 5.0 Ah GBA packs. Three reviews are too few to treat as a defect pattern, and no UK review describes a failed motor.

Pros

  • Two GBA 18V 5.0 Ah packs, a GAL 18V-40 charger and an L-BOXX at £199.98
  • 13 mm chuck, two speeds to 2,000 rpm, item weight 1.1 kg
  • All three UK reviews praise torque for the size and a metal chuck
  • Dual lights and switchable KickBack Control are named on the listing

Cons

  • Only three reviews sit behind the 5.0 line
  • Torque is 55 Nm in one field and 65 Nm in the bullets
  • One UK review says the packs were 4.0 Ah and that the charger takes one battery at a time
  • Hammer is not stated in the bullets

Best for: You want a Bosch Professional 18 V kit with two 5.0 Ah packs in the box and you can live with a three-review sample.

Less suitable: You need a large review pool, a single torque figure, or a hammer mode the bullets actually name.

Common questions

What is in the Bosch kit box?

The scope lists two GBA 18V 5.0 Ah batteries, a GAL 18V-40 charger and one L-BOXX, plus the GSB 18V-65. One of the three UK reviews describes the packs as 4.0 Ah.

How many UK reviews are there?

The listing shows 5.0 from 3 reviews. All three praise torque for the size. That sample is too small to treat as a defect pattern.

Does the table call it a combi drill?

The model name is GSB 18V-65 and the rank is Combi Drills. The drill-type field says basic drill. The bullets do not say hammer.

WORX WX355.1 20V brushless combi, 55 Nm

Rank 2

WORX WX355.1 20V brushless combi, 55 Nm

∼£89

Our view

The WORX WX355.1 is a 20 V brushless combi at £89.00 with a stated 55 Nm, a 13 mm metal chuck and a 20+1+1 clutch, and the highlight names a 2.0 Ah battery, a charger and a case. UK reviews call it compact and solid for home jobs. One used the hammer on brickwork and kept it for screwdriving because it is small, and another bought it because their DeWalt drills had no hammer. The star line is 4.7 from 228 reviews. The bullets give a length of 165 mm, a weight of 1.35 kg with the battery, speeds of 0–500 rpm and 0–2,100 rpm, and an impact rate up to 33,600 bpm. The item-weight field says 950 g, and the included-components line names a battery charger and a drill attachment, which is thinner than the highlight. Wood is 40 mm and metal is 13 mm. No repeated UK failure appears in the sampled reviews, and there is no second battery in the box.

Pros

  • £89.00 combi, 4.7 from 228 reviews, with hammer used on brick in a UK review
  • 55 Nm, 13 mm metal chuck, 20+1+1 clutch, two speeds to 2,100 rpm
  • Highlight includes a 2.0 Ah battery, charger and case
  • Compact size: bullets say 165 mm long and 1.35 kg with the battery

Cons

  • Only one battery, so there is no spare pack in the box
  • Included-components line is thinner than the highlight
  • Item weight is 950 g in the table and 1.35 kg with the battery in the bullets
  • Material field says plastic while the bullets describe a metal chuck

Best for: You want a Worx PowerShare combi with one battery for home screwdriving and ordinary brick, and you like a small body.

Less suitable: You need two batteries in the box, or a single weight figure.

Common questions

Does the WORX WX355.1 include a battery?

The highlight and the capacity field name a 2.0 Ah battery. The included-components field names the charger and a drill attachment, not the battery. The highlight also names a case. There is no second battery.

What chuck and torque does it list?

The chuck is 13 mm. Maximum torque is 55 Nm. The bullets also state up to 33,600 blows per minute and speeds of 0–500 and 0–2100 rpm.

Will other WORX batteries fit?

The bullets say Worx PowerShare works with Worx 20 V, 40 V and 80 V tools. That is a listing claim, not a fit test of every pack.

Bosch Professional GSB 18V-65 with L-BOXX

Rank 3

Bosch Professional GSB 18V-65 with L-BOXX

∼£85

Our view

The Bosch Professional GSB 18V-65 body is a brushless 18 V drill listed at £84.99 with an L-BOXX and no battery or charger in the box. The table lists a maximum of 55 Nm and the bullets list 65 Nm, both on the same amazon.co.uk page, and the stated speed is 2,000 rpm across two gears. The item weight is 1.1 kg and the wood capacity line is 31 mm. The table calls it a combination drill, the rank is Drill Drivers, and the bullets do not mention hammer or masonry, so a plug hole is not a stated job. Of the review blocks in the saved listing, only one is marked United Kingdom, and that review is a single sentence with no fault described. A French review notes that the battery was not included, which matches the included line. The 175 mm cell is the head length in the bullets, and KickBack Control is named without a vibration figure.

Pros

  • Brushless 18 V body at £84.99 if you already own a Bosch Professional pack
  • Two speeds to 2,000 rpm, item weight 1.1 kg, wood capacity 31 mm
  • L-BOXX in the box, plus switchable KickBack Control and dual lights
  • 4.7 from 35 amazon.co.uk reviews

Cons

  • No battery and no charger in the included line
  • Torque is 55 Nm in the table and 65 Nm in the bullets
  • Hammer is not stated in the bullets, despite a combination-drill table line
  • Only one review block is marked United Kingdom

Best for: You already own a Bosch Professional 18 V pack and charger and want the GSB 18V-65 body in an L-BOXX.

Less suitable: You need a battery in the box, a stated hammer mode, or a single torque figure you can quote.

Common questions

Does the Bosch GSB 18V-65 include a battery?

What torque does the listing give?

The maximum-torque field says 55 Nm. The bullets say 65 Nm. Both figures are on the same amazon.co.uk page.

Is a hammer mode stated?

The table type is combination drill. The bullets do not mention hammer or masonry, and the rank is Drill Drivers. KickBack Control is named. There is no vibration figure.

BETENST 21V brushless cordless drill set

Rank 4

BETENST 21V brushless cordless drill set

∼£26

Our view

The BETENST 21 V set is a brushless drill-driver at £25.99 with one 2,000 mAh battery in the bullets, a stated 45 Nm, two speeds to 1,850 rpm and a 20+1 clutch. UK reviews call it good value and easy to use for light household work, and the star line is 4.5 from 309 reviews. The drill type is basic drill, so a hammer mode is not stated even though the bullets include three masonry bits. A UK review says it struggled to drive a screw into a 2x4 for garage shelving, and another says the screwdriver bit broke after one use and the drill bit wore out after one use. The bullets say the kit is only 1 kg while the item-weight field says 1.56 kg. Wood is listed as 38 mm and metal as 10 mm, and the warranty line is one year. Chuck size is not in the table.

Pros

  • £25.99 with a 4.5 rating from 309 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • 45 Nm, two speeds to 1,850 rpm, and a 20+1 clutch in the title
  • One 2,000 mAh battery and a charger in the bullets, plus an LED
  • UK reviews call it easy to use on light household jobs

Cons

  • A UK review says it struggled to screw a 2x4 for garage shelving
  • A UK review says the screwdriver bit broke and the drill bit wore after one use
  • Hammer mode is not stated, even with masonry bits in the kit
  • Weight is 1 kg in the bullets and 1.56 kg in the item-weight field

Best for: You want a low-priced brushless driver for flat-pack and light shelves and you will replace the included bits if they wear.

Less suitable: You need a stated hammer for brick, or enough torque for a timber frame such as a 2x4.

What do UK reviews say about power?

UK reviews call it good value and easy to use. One UK review says it struggled to screw a 2x4 for garage shelving. Another says a screwdriver bit broke after one use and a drill bit wore out after one use.

LEEIKOO 21V brushless cordless drill, one 2.0 Ah battery

Rank 5

LEEIKOO 21V brushless cordless drill, one 2.0 Ah…

∼£25

Our view

This LEEIKOO 21 V drill is a brushless driver at £25.23 with one 2.0 Ah battery and a charger in the title and bullets, a stated 45 Nm and two speeds from 0–550 rpm to 0–1,850 rpm. UK reviews describe it as light enough for a garden gate, loft flooring screws, shelves and small household jobs, and they mention battery life and a smooth brushless feel on first use. The star line is 4.5 from 291 reviews, and the item weight is 1.56 kg. The clutch is 20+1. Hammer mode is not stated. The bullets say masonry only with the correct bit, which is a bit recommendation rather than a hammer. Chuck size, wood capacity and metal capacity are absent, and the warranty field is the number 2 with no unit. The sampled UK reviews are short praise, with no repeated defect described.

Pros

  • £25.23, 4.5 from 291 reviews, for light household and garden-gate jobs
  • One 2.0 Ah battery in the title, 45 Nm, two speeds to 1,850 rpm
  • 20+1 clutch and a charge indicator named in the bullets
  • UK reviews mention battery life and a smooth feel on first use

Cons

  • Hammer mode is not stated
  • Chuck size, wood capacity and metal capacity are absent
  • Warranty field is the number 2 with no unit
  • Included-components field does not name the battery

Best for: You want a light brushless driver for shelves, a garden gate and loft screws, with one battery in the box.

Less suitable: You need a stated hammer, a printed chuck size, or a second pack.

A hammer mode is not stated. The clutch is 20+1. A listing question asks about masonry. The bullets say masonry only with the correct bit and do not name a hammer mode.

What do the sampled UK reviews describe?

UK reviews describe it as light enough for a garden gate, loft flooring screws, shelves and small household jobs. The sampled reviews are short praise. No repeated defect is described.

LEEIKOO 21V brushless hammer drill, two 2.0 Ah batteries

Rank 6

LEEIKOO 21V brushless hammer drill, two 2.0 Ah…

∼£32

Our view

The LEEIKOO 21 V hammer drill is the best value in this set at £32.20, with two 2.0 Ah batteries and a carry case named in the bullets, a stated 45 Nm and a 10 mm auto-lock chuck. UK reviews describe it as light and useful as a driver, and one says it drilled a wall with ease. Several UK reviews say the batteries arrived with charge or charged quickly. The star line is 4.5 from 216 reviews. The title says 20+3 torque settings while the bullets say 20 torque positions, so the extra positions are not defined. The included-components field lists only a drill attachment, which is thinner than the two batteries the bullets name. Wood capacity is printed as 1 inch rather than millimetres, and the item weight is 2.62 kg. There is no shared battery platform on the listing.

Pros

  • £32.20 with two 2.0 Ah batteries and a case named in the bullets
  • Hammer mode stated for screw, drill and hammer, 45 Nm, 10 mm chuck
  • 4.5 from 216 reviews, with praise for driving and a wall hole
  • Two speeds, 0–550 rpm and 0–1,850 rpm, plus an LED

Cons

  • Included-components field omits the two batteries the bullets list
  • Clutch is 20+3 in the title and 20 torque positions in the bullets
  • Wood capacity is listed as 1 inch, not millimetres
  • No shared platform, so a spare pack is this generic 21 V type

Best for: You want a complete hammer kit with two batteries for ordinary home jobs and a low shelf price.

Less suitable: You need a named battery platform, a single clutch count, or capacities printed in millimetres.

KELNOW 21V brushless hammer drill set

Rank 7

KELNOW 21V brushless hammer drill set

∼£46

Our view

The KELNOW 21 V set is a brushless hammer drill at £45.99 with a stated 60 Nm, a 10 mm metal chuck, two speeds to 1,800 rpm and a 25+3 clutch. UK reviews praise the hammer action, the two speeds and a spare battery for home DIY, and one says it has not let them down on the jobs they tried. The star line is 4.5 from 139 reviews. Amp-hour is not in the specification table, so the one-hour charge claim in the bullets cannot be checked against a capacity. A UK review says the light would not switch off, the drill stopped intermittently and got hot, and reconnecting the battery was needed to make it run. Another UK review says there is no carry case and the items arrived loose. Wood is listed as 10 mm beside the 60 Nm bullet, metal as 0.24 in, and the item weight as 2.14 kg. The dimension field of 12 x 12 x 5 cm does not match a drill body.

Pros

  • Hammer drill at £45.99 with a stated 60 Nm and a 25+3 clutch
  • 4.5 from 139 reviews, with praise for hammer action and a spare battery
  • 10 mm metal chuck and two speeds to 1,800 rpm
  • Accessory list includes masonry bits, sockets and screw anchors

Cons

  • Battery capacity is not in the specification table
  • A UK review describes a light that stayed on, intermittent stops and heat
  • A UK review says there is no carry case
  • Wood capacity of 10 mm sits next to a 60 Nm bullet, and the dimension field is unreliable

Best for: You want a stated hammer and a second battery in the bullets for occasional home DIY and will check the live amp-hour line.

Less suitable: You need a printed battery capacity, a case the reviews confirm, or a clean capacity row next to the torque.

Common questions

What battery capacity does KELNOW list?

The bullets say two high-capacity batteries. Amp-hours are not in the specification table, so a runtime claim cannot be checked against Ah. The included line lists bits and anchors, not the batteries.

Is there a case?

A UK review says there is no carry case and the items arrived loose. The included line does not name a case.

What did a UK review report as a fault?

One UK review says the light would not switch off, the drill stopped intermittently and got hot, and that reconnecting the battery was needed to make it run. That is one review, not a wide pattern in the sample.

CEEIGOO 21V brushless cordless drill, two 2.0 Ah batteries

Rank 8

CEEIGOO 21V brushless cordless drill, two 2.0 Ah…

∼£37

Our view

The CEEIGOO 21 V drill is a brushless kit at £36.99 with two 2,000 mAh batteries, a charger and a plastic case in the included line. UK reviews describe furniture, shelves and everyday screwdriving, and the star line is 4.5 from 117 reviews. The title says 42 Nm and the torque fields say 45 Nm. The clutch is 18+1, the chuck is 10 mm, the speeds run to 1,850 rpm, and the item weight is 2.68 kg. A warm tip on the listing says there is no hammer drilling mode, even though Amazon ranks the drill in combi drills and a bullet mentions concrete. One UK review says it drilled brick with a decent bit. That comment does not add a hammer mode the listing denies. A UK review says few drill bits were supplied and that warranty-registration requests were ignored.

Pros

  • £36.99 with two 2,000 mAh batteries, a charger and a plastic case
  • 4.5 from 117 reviews for furniture, shelves and screwdriving
  • 18+1 clutch, 10 mm chuck, two speeds to 1,850 rpm
  • A warm tip states clearly that there is no hammer mode

Cons

  • Torque is 42 Nm in the title and 45 Nm in the table
  • Ranked in combi drills while the warm tip says no hammer
  • A UK review says few bits were supplied and warranty registration was ignored
  • No shared battery platform is named

Best for: You want two batteries for furniture and shelves and you will not use this drill as a hammer.

Less suitable: You need a stated hammer for brick, or a single torque figure on the title and the table.

No. A warm tip says this drill does not have a hammer drilling mode. Amazon still ranks it in Combi Drills. A UK reviewer drilled brick with a bit. That does not add a hammer mode the listing denies.

What comes in the box?

The included line lists two 2000 mAh batteries, a charger, a plastic storage case, a 14-piece attachment set and a manual. The bullets also mention a belt clip.

Ginour 21V brushless combi drill, two 2.0 Ah batteries

Rank 9

Ginour 21V brushless combi drill, two 2.0 Ah…

∼£56

Our view

The Ginour CD1308 is the top pick in this set at £55.99, a 21 V brushless combi with two 2.0 Ah batteries in the bullets, a stated 50 Nm and a 10 mm keyless metal chuck. Across 2,216 amazon.co.uk reviews the line is 4.4, the largest sample here, and UK reviews describe shed building, brick drilling and a tidy case. A 2022 UK review says battery life was still good after 1.5 years. The speed field and the bullets say 0–450 rpm and 0–1,450 rpm, while a maximum-rotational-speed field says 2,600 rpm, so you should quote the line you can see. Wood capacity is listed as 6 mm beside the 50 Nm bullet. A UK review says the screwdriver bits wore out on first use, another calls it a little noisy compared with a Bosch it replaced, and one expected a belt hook that was not in the box. The seller’s Makita 18 V fit line is not a checked fit, and the life-ratio claim is seller copy.

Pros

  • Largest review sample in the set: 4.4 from 2,216 at £55.99
  • Two 2.0 Ah batteries, 50 Nm, 10 mm chuck, hammer stated for masonry
  • UK reviews describe shed building, brick and a case, with battery life still praised after 1.5 years
  • Two speeds in the bullets, 0–450 rpm and 0–1,450 rpm

Cons

  • Speed lines disagree: 2,600 rpm in one field and 1,450 rpm in the bullets
  • Wood capacity is listed as 6 mm next to a 50 Nm bullet
  • UK reviews report soft screwdriver bits, extra noise versus a Bosch, and a missing belt hook
  • Makita 18 V compatibility is a seller line, not a checked fit

Best for: You want a combi with two batteries and a large amazon.co.uk review sample for home building and ordinary brick.

Less suitable: You need one rpm figure, a verified Makita pack fit, or included bits that UK reviews say last.

How many batteries does the Ginour listing name?

The bullets name two 2.0 Ah batteries and a charger. The capacity field says 2000 mAh. The included line lists the drill and accessories and does not spell out the packs.

Will a Makita 18 V battery fit?

The item highlight and the compatible-devices field claim a Makita 18 V connector. That is the seller’s line. It is not a checked fit.

What do UK reviews repeat?

UK reviews describe shed building, brick drilling and a tidy case. Soft screwdriver bits are a repeated complaint. One UK review calls it a little noisy compared with a Bosch it replaced. The star line is 4.4 from 2,216 reviews.

Rank 10

WORX Nitro WX354.9 brushless impact drill, bare tool

∼£208

Our view

The WORX Nitro WX354.9 is a bare brushless hammer drill at £208.15, with a stated 60 Nm, a 13 mm chuck, an 18+1+1 clutch and two speeds to 2,000 rpm, and the box holds the body plus an 8 mm masonry bit rather than a battery. UK reviews praise brick drilling with other Worx batteries, and one says it handled brick and then wood and plastic pipe. Several UK reviews describe early failure, including a breakdown within a month, a failed rotation switch, and a warranty process the reviewer found useless, and one says the mode is easy to change by accident. The star line is 4.0 from 94 reviews. The title says 18 V (20 V max) while the voltage field says 20 V, and the table weight is 1.5 kg against a bullet of 1.8 kg with a battery that is not in the box. Bullets claim 50% longer runtime, 25% more power and 10 times the motor life, which is seller copy rather than a measurement in this file. Wood is listed as 40 mm and metal as 13 mm, and the concrete bullet says 10 mm in reinforced concrete up to C30.

Pros

  • Stated hammer, 60 Nm, 13 mm chuck and an 18+1+1 clutch
  • UK reviews praise brick and use with other Worx PowerShare batteries
  • Wood 40 mm and metal 13 mm on the listing, plus an 8 mm masonry bit in the box
  • Three-year warranty when registered online

Cons

  • Bare tool at £208.15, with no battery or charger
  • Several UK reviews describe early failure and a warranty process they found useless
  • Voltage is 18 V (20 V max) in the title and 20 V in the field
  • Runtime and life ratios in the bullets are seller copy

Best for: You already own Worx PowerShare packs and want a bare hammer body for brick, knowing the early-failure reports.

Less suitable: You need a battery in the box, a clean early-failure record, or a price near the kits in this set.

Common questions

Does the WORX Nitro include a battery?

No. The title says bare tool only. The included line has the WX354.9, an 8 mm masonry bit, a bit clip, a double-ended bit and a hook. There is no battery or charger.

Which WORX packs does the listing name?

The bullets say Worx PowerShare and that the battery works with Worx 20 V and 40 V tools. You need a pack you already own. The voltage field says 20 V and the title says 18 V (20 V max).

What do UK reviews say about reliability?

UK reviews praise brick drilling and use with other Worx batteries. Several UK reviews describe early failure: breakdown within a month, a failed rotation switch, and a warranty process the reviewer found useless.

How we compared

Ten brushless cordless drills on amazon.co.uk were scored on 19 October 2026 from listing facts and review notes, not from a drilling test. Stars, review sample, listing fit and value are weighted 40, 25, 25 and 10. A second torque figure on the same page is not scored as a measured capacity. Each star line stays the amazon.co.uk figure. The 0–100 score is not the stars times 20.

1

Amazon stars

40%

Star rating on amazon.co.uk. The 0–100 score is not the stars times 20. A 5.0 from three reviews can take the full star weight and still lose on the sample.

2

Review sample

25%

Larger amazon.co.uk review counts score higher. Three reviews are not treated as equal to 2,216. A small sample keeps this weight low even when every review is praise.

3

Listing fit

25%

A stated hammer when the job needs one, a battery line you can read, a chuck size and one torque figure. Conflicting torque or rpm lines, a bare body and a missing chuck reduce the fit score.

4

Value

10%

Shelf price in GBP against a usable kit. A low price does not score when the battery is missing and you do not own the platform. A bare body at the top of the price list scores low here.

Brushless cordless drill buying guide

Start with the job, then the box, then the torque line you can actually see. A voltage badge and a coloured case come after those three. The notes below follow that order for these ten amazon.co.uk listings, checked on 19 October 2026. None of the scores is a drilling test.

What is a brushless cordless drill?

A brushless cordless drill is a battery drill whose motor is commutated electronically, so there are no carbon brushes to wear. You buy it in the UK as a drill-driver, with rotation and a clutch and no hammer, or as a combi drill, which adds a hammer for ordinary brick and block. An SDS rotary hammer is a different tool. BS EN 62841-2-1 covers hand-held drills and impact drills. It does not cover rotary hammers. The first check is the job.

Best for

  • Furniture and shelves, if the listing gives a clutch, two speeds and a battery in the box
  • Ordinary brick, if a hammer is stated and you will stop when the bit stalls
  • A Bosch Professional 18 V or Worx PowerShare owner who stays on that platform

Not ideal for

  • Engineering brick, a concrete lintel, or many large holes, which need an SDS tool
  • Anyone treating a 21 V badge as more energy than an 18 V 5.0 Ah pack
  • Anyone reading three reviews as the same evidence as two thousand

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Reading 21 V as more power than 18 V

A five-cell pack is about 18 V nominal and about 21 V when full and unloaded. An 18 V 5.0 Ah pack is 90 Wh. A 21 V 2.0 Ah pack, if it is 18 V nominal, is about 36 Wh. That second figure is arithmetic, not a specification.

  2. 2

Buying a bare body with no battery

The Bosch Professional GSB 18V-65 body and the Worx Nitro WX354.9 do not include a battery or a charger. A lower headline price is a saving only if you already own that platform.

  3. 3

Expecting a drill-driver to make plug holes

Masonry bits in the box do not add a hammer the listing never states. Ordinary brick needs a stated hammer. Engineering brick, a lintel or many large holes need an SDS tool. Soft bits are a different fault from the motor.

What to weigh up

Job, hammer and the box

High

Match the mode to the hole. A drill-driver is rotation and a clutch. LEEIKOO B0H69G8MNV and BETENST do not state a hammer. CEEIGOO states that it has no hammer mode, even though Amazon ranks it in combi drills. A combi states a hammer for ordinary brick. LEEIKOO B0DCB85FNV, KELNOW, Ginour, both Worx listings and the Bosch GSB model name sit on that side, and the Bosch bullets still do not say hammer. Then read the box.

Torque, voltage and platform

High

Quote one torque line. Bosch bullets say 65 Nm while a maximum-torque field says 55 Nm. The CEEIGOO title says 42 Nm and the torque field says 45 Nm. KELNOW states 60 Nm and does not state amp-hours. Ginour states 50 Nm, with 2,600 rpm in one field and 1,450 rpm in the bullets. Brushless does not grant any of those figures. A 21 V badge is often the full, unloaded voltage. Bosch Professional AMPShare is blue 18 V. Worx PowerShare is Worx only.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Furniture and shelves

You want a clutch, two speeds and a battery in the box for furniture and shelves, and you will not use the drill as a hammer. The CEEIGOO kit is about £36.99, with two 2,000 mAh batteries and a plastic case, and 4.5 from 117 reviews. A warm tip says there is no hammer mode.

Ordinary brick

You want a combi for ordinary brick and a large review sample, and you will stop if the bit stalls in engineering brick. The Ginour CD1308 is about £55.99, with two 2.0 Ah batteries named in the bullets, 50 Nm and a stated hammer, and 4.4 from 2,216 reviews.

Bosch 18 V already owned

You already own Bosch Professional 18 V packs and a charger, and you want the GSB 18V-65 body. The bare listing is about £84.99 with an L-BOXX and no battery. Hammer is not stated in the bullets. The star line is 4.7 from 35 reviews.

Common questions about brushless cordless drills

Which brushless cordless drill is the top pick in this set?
The top pick is the Ginour CD1308, about £55.99 on amazon.co.uk, with 4.4 from 2,216 reviews. The bullets name two 2.0 Ah batteries, 50 Nm, a 10 mm chuck and impact drilling. UK reviews describe shed building, brick, a case and soft screwdriver bits. One speed field says 1,450 rpm and another says 2,600 rpm. A Makita 18 V line is the seller's claim, not a checked fit. This score is not a lab test.
Which brushless cordless drill is the best value?
The best value is the LEEIKOO hammer drill DZL00056, about £32.20 on amazon.co.uk, with 4.5 from 216 reviews. The bullets name a hammer, 45 Nm, a 10 mm chuck, two 2.0 Ah batteries and a carry case. The included-components field says drill attachment only. The title says 20+3 torque settings and the bullets say 20. Wood capacity is printed as 1 inch, not millimetres. There is no shared battery platform. The score is from the listing and the reviews, not a drilling test.
What is the difference between a drill-driver and a combi?
A drill-driver gives you rotation, a clutch and no hammer. A combi adds a hammer for ordinary brick and block, and it still needs a masonry bit. An SDS rotary hammer is a different tool for engineering brick, concrete lintels and many large holes. BS EN 62841-2-1 covers hand-held drills and impact drills. It does not cover rotary hammers. Masonry bits in a box do not create a hammer mode the listing never states. Stop when the bit stalls. SDS tools are compared as rotary hammers.
Does a 21 V badge mean more power than 18 V?
Not from the badge. A five-cell pack is about 18 V nominal and about 21 V when full and unloaded. Energy is nominal voltage times amp-hours. An 18 V 5.0 Ah pack is 90 Wh. A 21 V 2.0 Ah pack, if it is 18 V nominal, is about 36 Wh. That second figure is arithmetic, not a specification. A generic 21 V pack is not a spare for another brand unless the listing says so.
Why do the battery lines on one page disagree?
Read the title, the bullets and the included-components field as separate lines. On several amazon.co.uk pages the bullets name batteries that the included field omits. A review can also disagree with the printed amp-hour. The Bosch GSB 18V-65 body at about £84.99 and the Worx Nitro at about £208.15 include no battery. A lower headline price is a saving only if you already own that platform. Goods that are not as described fall under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
How should you charge a drill battery at home?
Use the manufacturer's charger, on a hard surface, and unplug it when the pack is full. Do not charge while you are asleep. Stop if a pack is swollen or damaged. If a pack is smoking, get out and call 999. That is National Fire Chiefs Council and London Fire Brigade guidance. An 18 V or 21 V pack sits below the 75 V DC bound in the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. A missing UKCA mark on the drill is not, by itself, proof the listing is illegal.
How should you weigh a small review sample?
Stars are not a sample size. A 5.0 from three reviews on one Bosch GSB kit is not the same evidence as 4.4 from 2,216 on the Ginour or 4.7 from 228 on the Worx WX355.1. Three reviews can all be praise and still be too few for a defect pattern. Soft included bits are a different fault from the motor. Scores here use the amazon.co.uk star line and the count. They are not a lab test.
When should you stop and call a professional?
Call a professional when you are drilling near cables or pipes and do not know the route, when the bit has stopped in concrete, a lintel or engineering brick, when the fixing is structural, or when people will use the drill all day at work. At work, PUWER 1998 applies. The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 set 2.5 m/s² A(8) as the action value and 5 m/s² A(8) as the limit. None of these listings states a vibration figure.

Our verdict

In this set of ten amazon.co.uk listings, the top pick is the Ginour CD1308 at about £55.99, with 4.4 from 2,216 reviews. The bullets name two 2.0 Ah batteries, 50 Nm, a 10 mm chuck and impact drilling. UK reviews describe shed building and brick, and they also report soft screwdriver bits. Speed lines disagree at 2,600 rpm and 1,450 rpm, and a Makita fit line is unchecked. The best value is the LEEIKOO DZL00056 hammer drill at about £32.20, with 4.5 from 216 reviews. The bullets name a hammer, two 2.0 Ah batteries and a case, while the included-components field lists only a drill attachment. The other eight have no award. None of these scores is a lab test.
