Long bits comparison 2026

The best long bits, compared.

Top pick: Bahco 59/S54BC 54-piece set Best value: Saxton 152 mm PZ2 ten-pack – Ten 152 mm PZ2 bits in a pouch at about £12.99, with 4.4 from 215, for UK wood screws marked PZ2. Updated October 2026.

Long bits are extra-long screwdriver bits, usually 90 mm to 152 mm, with a 1/4 inch hex shank for a drill or an impact driver. In the UK you buy them to reach screws in carcasses, between joists and in deep recesses, where a 25 mm insert bit and a bulky holder will not fit. A suitable bit matches the drive and the size on the screw packet. UK wood screws are mostly Pozidriv, plasterboard screws are often Phillips, and many appliance screws are a pinned Torx. A Phillips bit in a Pozidriv screw cams out. About 90–100 mm reaches many recesses. About 150–152 mm reaches further and flexes more, so you use the shortest bit that still seats. The shank should lock in the holder. Look for a torsion zone as well as the word impact, because the word alone does not describe tip life. A magnetic tip starts a steel screw. It does not correct a wrong drive. Length, drive and the impact claim are set out in the [long bits buying guide](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/long-bits/sub/long-bits-buying-guide).

Long bits are extra-long screwdriver bits, usually 90 mm to 152 mm, with a 1/4 inch hex shank for a drill or an impact driver.

The best long bits in detail

Bahco 59/S54BC 54-piece set

Rank 1

Bahco 59/S54BC 54-piece set

∼£15

Our view

The Bahco 59/S54BC is a 54-piece colour-coded set at about £14.95, with 4.7 from 790 amazon.co.uk reviews. The extract names slotted, Phillips, Pozidriv, hex, Robertson, Torx and tamper Torx, and it does not print bit lengths. Saved UK reviews say the long bits are about 150 mm, and the specification row itself is blank. A separate UK listing of this set puts most bits at 25 mm, some at 125 mm, and three Torx at 150 mm, so it is not a long-bit-only pack. The extract lists a weight of 9 g, which is not a credible mass for 54 pieces, and this page does not replace it with another number. In the first 50 UK texts, the repeated complaint is holders that are fiddly or wonky, while the long bits draw less of that criticism. There is no impact claim in the extract. It is a broad mixed set when you can accept an unstated length on the amazon extract. It is a poor match when you need a packet that states 150 mm PZ2 as the whole contents.

Pros

  • 54 colour-coded pieces covering slotted, Phillips, Pozidriv, hex, Robertson and Torx
  • 4.7 from 790 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • UK texts talk more about holders than about the long bits failing
  • Tamper Torx is included alongside ordinary drives

Cons

  • The amazon extract does not state bit lengths
  • The listed weight of 9 g is not credible for 54 pieces
  • UK texts call the holders fiddly or wonky
  • No impact claim on the extract

Best for: A colour-coded mixed set when you can live without a stated length on the amazon listing.

Less suitable: Anyone who needs a confirmed 150 mm PZ2 pack, or impact-rated bits.

Common questions

Does the amazon listing state the bit lengths?

No. The extract names the drives and 54 pieces. It does not print 25 mm, 125 mm or 150 mm. Saved UK reviews say the long bits are about 150 mm. A separate UK shop listing splits most bits at 25 mm, some at 125 mm, and three Torx at 150 mm.

Why is the weight 9 g?

That is the figure in the amazon extract. It is not a credible weight for 54 pieces. This page does not replace it with another number.

What do UK reviews complain about?

The listing shows 4.7 from 790 ratings. In the first 50 UK texts, the repeated complaint is holders that are fiddly or wonky, not the long bits themselves.

WojBear 90 mm mixed bits

Rank 2

WojBear 90 mm mixed bits

Our view

The WojBear pack puts ten 90 mm bits in one listing at about £7.99, with one each of SL3 to SL6, PZ1 to PZ3 and PH1 to PH3. Across 67 amazon.co.uk reviews the line is 4.7, and Saved UK texts praise the extra reach into a recess where a short insert stops. The title says impact, and the bullets describe a narrowed middle without naming a torsion zone. Some UK reviewers say the tips stripped sooner than a branded bit, and others say that waist looks thin once the torque rises. The bullets do not name a case, though UK reviews describe a short silicone holder with a belt clip. A magnetic tip is claimed, which helps you start a steel screw and still leaves a wrong drive to cam out. It is a low-priced first mixed set at 90 mm. It is a thin buy when you need several spare PZ2 bits, or when you are already leaning on an impact driver.

Pros

  • Ten 90 mm bits at about £7.99, covering slotted, PZ1–PZ3 and PH1–PH3
  • 4.7 from 67 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • UK texts praise the reach into a recess
  • A magnetic tip is claimed on the listing

Cons

  • Some UK texts say the tips stripped sooner than a branded bit
  • The narrowed middle looks thin for high torque in UK reviews
  • One of each size, so there is no spare PZ2
  • The bullets do not name a case

Best for: A first 90 mm mix of slotted, Pozidriv and Phillips for light recess work.

Less suitable: A PZ2-only ten-pack, or high-torque driving on an impact driver.

Common questions

How long are these bits?

The listing states 90 mm and a 1/4 inch hex shank. The ten pieces are one each of SL3, SL4, SL5, SL6, PZ1, PZ2, PZ3, PH1, PH2 and PH3.

Does the listing include a case?

The bullets do not name a case. Saved UK reviews describe a short silicone holder with a belt clip.

What do the saved reviews say about strength?

The listing shows 4.7 from 67 reviews. Some UK texts praise the reach. Others say the tips stripped sooner than a branded bit, or that the narrowed middle looks thin for high torque.

toolant 6 inch security Torx

Rank 3

toolant 6 inch security Torx

∼£20

Our view

The toolant set is thirteen security Torx bits listed as 6 inches, from TT7 to TT40, at about £19.99, with 4.6 from 4,853 amazon.co.uk reviews. That count is the largest in this comparison, which is why it is the top pick for a stated long security Torx set. The bullets name S2 alloy, a manganese phosphate finish, a magnetic tip, a torsion zone, a magnetic holder and a storage box, covering TT7, TT8, TT9, TT10, TT15, two TT20, two TT25, TT27, TT30, TT35 and TT40. The listing prints 6 inches and does not also print 150 mm. In the first 50 UK texts, most are short praise, with complaints that a holder magnet fell out and that a T20 shattered on first use. A PZ2 timber screw is a different recess, so this set leaves that screw untouched. Buy it for pinned Torx on appliances and similar covers. Skip it when the packet says PZ2 or PH2.

Pros

  • Thirteen security Torx bits from TT7 to TT40, listed as 6 inches
  • 4.6 from 4,853 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest sample here
  • A torsion zone, magnetic holder and storage box are named
  • Two each of TT20 and TT25, the sizes that wear first on many covers

Cons

  • A holder magnet fell out in the UK sample
  • A T20 shattered on first use in one UK text
  • Security Torx only, so PZ2 and PH2 screws are the wrong job
  • About £19.99, the highest price in this set

Best for: Pinned security Torx on appliances and covers, at a stated 6 inch length.

Less suitable: UK timber marked PZ2, plasterboard marked PH2, or a buyer who needs ordinary cross-head bits.

Common questions

Which Torx sizes are listed?

The bullets list TT7, TT8, TT9, TT10, TT15, two TT20, two TT25, TT27, TT30, TT35 and TT40. The title calls them tamper-proof security Torx at 6 inches.

Is this a Pozidriv set?

No. The drive system is Torx. A PZ2 wood screw is a different recess.

What faults appear in the UK sample?

The listing shows 4.6 from 4,853 ratings. In the first 50 UK texts, most are short praise. Complaints include a holder magnet that fell out and a T20 that shattered on first use.

Rennie 150 mm PZ2 ten-pack

Rank 4

Rennie 150 mm PZ2 ten-pack

∼£14

Our view

Rennie's P10PZ2150P is ten 150 mm PZ2 bits in a plastic case at about £13.99, with 4.5 from 63 amazon.co.uk reviews. The listing names S2, an oxide coating, a magnetic tip, a forged and heat-treated tip, and a 1/4 inch hex shank for an impact driver or a drill chuck. Fourteen UK texts are saved against that count of 63, and they do not agree on tip life. Some say a bit lasted weeks or a full day. Others say the ends shatter on tight screws in an impact driver. The case is the practical difference from the Saxton pouch, at about £1 more and with a shorter review list. It fits a PZ2 job where you want the bits boxed. It is a weaker match when you only drive Phillips, or when you want the larger 215-review PZ2 sample before you trust tip life.

Pros

  • Ten 150 mm PZ2 bits in a plastic case at about £13.99
  • 4.5 from 63 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • S2, an oxide coating and a magnetic tip are listed
  • Some UK texts report a bit lasting a day or weeks

Cons

  • Other UK texts say the ends shatter on tight screws in an impact driver
  • Fourteen UK texts against 63 ratings, so the written sample is partial
  • About £1 more than the Saxton PZ2 ten-pack, with fewer reviews

Best for: PZ2 screws at 150 mm when you want a plastic case with the bits.

Less suitable: Phillips screws, or a buyer who wants the larger PZ2 review count first.

Common questions

What comes in the pack?

The listing says 10 PZ2 bits at 150 mm, S2 steel, an oxide coating, a magnetic tip, and a plastic storage case.

Will the listing fit a 1/4 inch hex driver?

The bullets say a 1/4 inch hex shank for an impact driver or a standard drill chuck, and they name several drill brands. That is a fit claim, not a brand approval.

Do the UK reviews agree on durability?

Fourteen UK texts are saved against a count of 63. Some say a bit lasted weeks or a full day. Others say the ends shatter on tight screws in an impact driver.

Bestgle 100 mm 16-piece set

Rank 5

Bestgle 100 mm 16-piece set

∼£11

Our view

Bestgle's 16-piece set is listed at 100 mm, also written as 4 inches, for about £10.98, with 4.4 from 398 amazon.co.uk reviews. The bullets name hex, security Torx, Phillips and slotted, and they do not say how many of each. One UK review puts usable length at about 80 mm once the bit sits in a driver, so the printed 100 mm is not all sticking out. In the first 50 UK texts, a T15 snapped at low torque, slotted tips burred, and one reviewer said the steel was not suitable for impact. The bullets say S2 and anti-impact, and they do not name a torsion zone. A magnetic tip is claimed, and a case is not stated. One UK text says chrome vanadium, against an S2 bullet. The review count is large for a 100 mm mixed security set. It is the wrong row when you came for a counted PZ2 ten-pack, or for bits you intend to run hard in an impact driver.

Pros

  • 16 bits at a listed 100 mm for about £10.98
  • 4.4 from 398 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Hex, security Torx, Phillips and slotted in one set
  • A magnetic tip is claimed

Cons

  • The listing does not say how many bits of each drive
  • A T15 snapped and slotted tips burred in the UK sample
  • One reviewer said the steel was not suitable for impact
  • No torsion zone is named

Best for: A 100 mm mix of hex, security Torx, Phillips and slotted for light jobs.

Less suitable: A known count of PZ2 timber bits, or impact-driver duty.

Common questions

How long is the set?

The listing says 100 mm, also written as 4 inches, with a 6.35 mm hex shank. One UK review says about 80 mm is usable once the bit sits in a driver.

Which heads are included?

The bullets name hex, Torx security, Phillips and slotted. They do not say how many of each.

Do the reviews mention breakage?

The listing shows 4.4 from 398 ratings. In the first 50 UK texts, a T15 snapped at low torque, slotted tips burred, and one reviewer said the steel was not suitable for impact. Other texts praise the length.

Saxton 152 mm PZ2 ten-pack

Rank 6

Saxton 152 mm PZ2 ten-pack

∼£13

Our view

Saxton's SX10PZ2-152 is ten 152 mm PZ2 bits in a pouch at about £12.99, with 4.4 from 215 amazon.co.uk reviews. On price, drive and that review count it is the best value row here for a dedicated long Pozidriv pack. The bullets claim S2 and 62 HRC, which is a listing claim, and the material field says alloy steel. Among 29 UK texts, some call the bits durable and magnetic, while two describe tips snapping, including one pack that snapped on first use. The title says impact duty, and the shank is a 1/4 inch hex. A pouch keeps the bits together with less bulk than a hard case. Choose it for UK wood screws marked PZ2 when 152 mm of reach is the point. Leave it when the packet says Phillips, or when you want a plastic case and a sample with fewer first-use snaps.

Pros

  • Ten 152 mm PZ2 bits at about £12.99, with a pouch
  • 4.4 from 215 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • UK texts praise durability and the magnetic tip
  • One drive and a stated length, so the pack matches a PZ2 job

Cons

  • Two UK texts describe snapped tips, including a first-use failure
  • 62 HRC is a bullet claim, and the table says alloy steel
  • A pouch, rather than a hard case

Best for: UK wood screws marked PZ2, when you want 152 mm spares in a pouch.

Less suitable: Phillips-only work, or buyers who want a hard case and no first-use snap reports.

Common questions

What length and drive are listed?

The title says ten PZ2 bits at 152 mm with a 1/4 inch hex shank. The specification table lists the drive system as Hex.

What hardness does the listing claim?

The bullets say S2 alloy and 62 HRC. The material field says alloy steel. The 62 HRC figure is a listing claim, not a hardness test.

What do UK reviews say about breakage?

The listing shows 4.4 from 215 ratings. Among 29 UK texts, some call the bits durable and magnetic. Two describe tips snapping, including one pack that snapped on first use.

GEINXURN 150 mm Phillips mix

Rank 7

GEINXURN 150 mm Phillips mix

∼£12

Our view

This GEINXURN mix is thirteen 150 mm Phillips bits at about £11.99, listed as two PH1, six PH2, two PH3 and three further PH2 bits. The listing shows 4.4 from 48 amazon.co.uk reviews. Seven Saved UK texts talk about reach, and one says the set would have scored higher with a case. The title says D2 steel and the specification table says S2, so both grades are printed and the listing does not say which one shipped. The number-of-items field says 27, which conflicts with 13 pieces. A double impact shock zone and a magnet are claimed, and no case is included. It suits a job that stays on Phillips at 150 mm and wants more than one size. Leave it when the screws are Pozidriv, and do not quote a single steel grade from this listing.

Pros

  • Thirteen 150 mm Phillips bits in PH1, PH2 and PH3 at about £11.99
  • 4.4 from 48 reviews, with UK texts on reach
  • A double impact shock zone and a magnet are claimed
  • Several PH2 bits, so you have spares of the common Phillips size

Cons

  • The title says D2 and the table says S2
  • The item-count field says 27 against 13 pieces
  • No case, which one UK text notes
  • Pozidriv is not in the set

Best for: Phillips screws at 150 mm when you want PH1, PH2 and PH3 together.

Less suitable: Pozidriv timber, or a buyer who needs one stated steel grade.

Common questions

Which Phillips sizes are in the box?

The included-components line says 13 pieces at 150 mm: D2-PH1×2, D2-PH2×6, D2-PH3×2 and PH2×3. The number-of-items field says 27.

Is the steel D2 or S2?

The title says D2 steel. The specification table says S2 steel. Both figures are printed. The listing does not say which one shipped.

Do the UK reviews mention a case?

The listing does not include a case. One of the seven UK texts says the set would have scored higher with a case. Those texts talk about reach, not about snapped tips.

GEINXURN 150 mm PH2 ten-pack

Rank 8

GEINXURN 150 mm PH2 ten-pack

∼£10

Our view

This GEINXURN ten-pack is ten 150 mm PH2 bits at about £9.99, with a claimed magnet and an impact shock-absorbent zone on the listing. The amazon.co.uk line is 4.2 from 20 reviews, the smallest count in this set, and only one UK text is saved, which calls the product brilliant. The included-components line lists the ten bits and does not name a case. The drive is Phillips size 2 only, so a Pozidriv wood screw is a different recess. The table prints polished S2. At 150 mm the bit clears a gap that a 25 mm insert cannot, and it also flexes more if you lean the driver. Buy it when the screw packet says PH2 and you want spares at this length. Leave it for timber marked PZ2, and treat that single UK sentence as a thin sample.

Pros

  • Ten identical 150 mm PH2 bits at about £9.99
  • A magnetic tip and a shock-absorbent zone are claimed
  • The one saved UK text calls the bits brilliant
  • Ten spare bits of the same Phillips size

Cons

  • 4.2 from only 20 reviews, with one UK text saved
  • Phillips only, so Pozidriv timber is the wrong recess
  • No case is named in the included components

Best for: Plasterboard and other screws the packet marks PH2, when you want 150 mm spares.

Less suitable: UK wood screws marked PZ2, or anyone who wants a large UK review sample.

Pronese 90 mm and 150 mm mix

Rank 9

Pronese 90 mm and 150 mm mix

∼£10

Our view

Pronese sells ten bits at about £9.99 that split PZ2 and PH2 across 90 mm and 150 mm: three of each length in PZ2, and two of each in PH2. The listing shows 4.1 from 113 amazon.co.uk reviews, the lowest star line in this comparison. Bullets name S2, a black oxide coating, magnetised tips and impact torsion. Several UK reviews say tips sheared in an impact driver, and one says they are not impact bits. Magnet reports also split: some accept the tip, others say it wore out, or that only two of ten bits were slightly magnetic. The comparison table lists the shank as spline and cross, which is less plain than a single 1/4 inch hex line. You do get both common UK crosses and both lengths in one pack at about £9.99. It is a weak default when you need a consistent magnet, or when tips are already shearing on an impact driver.

Pros

  • PZ2 and PH2 at both 90 mm and 150 mm for about £9.99
  • 113 amazon.co.uk reviews, so the sample is not tiny
  • S2 and black oxide are named in the bullets
  • Three 150 mm PZ2 bits, which covers a short timber job

Cons

  • 4.1 stars, the lowest line in this set
  • Several UK texts describe sheared tips in an impact driver
  • UK texts disagree on whether the magnets work
  • The shank row says spline and cross

Best for: A cheap mix of PZ2 and PH2 at 90 mm and 150 mm for light screwdriving.

Less suitable: Impact-driver work where tip life matters, or a job that needs a reliable magnet.

Common questions

What is in the ten-piece mix?

The bullets list 3×150 mm PZ2, 3×90 mm PZ2, 2×150 mm PH2 and 2×90 mm PH2. They name S2 steel and a black oxide coating.

Does the listing say the bits are impact rated?

The title and bullets say impact torsion bits. Several UK reviews say tips shattered in an impact driver, and one says they are not impact bits.

Are the tips magnetic?

The bullets say magnetised tips. UK reviews disagree: some accept the magnet, others say it wore out or that only two of ten bits were slightly magnetic.

How we compared

Nine long-bit listings on amazon.co.uk were compared from saved extracts and UK review notes dated 21 October 2026, not from a tip-life test. Drive and size, length, the impact claim, review evidence, and price each take the share below. A star line is not a breakage rate. Public UK sources cover recess fit, the 1/4 inch hex form, eye protection, work equipment and faulty goods. No laboratory ranking was done.

1

Drive and size

25%

The bit has to match the recess on the screw packet: Pozidriv, Phillips, Torx, security Torx, slotted or hex. A Phillips bit in a Pozidriv screw cams out. A pack of one drive is spares. A mixed set is one of each size.

2

Length

20%

About 90–100 mm reaches many recesses. About 150–152 mm reaches further and flexes more. The shortest bit that still seats is the one to use. A length the listing does not print stays blank.

3

Impact claim

20%

A torsion zone matters as well as the word impact. Packs that print the word and still draw UK notes of early tip failure score down. S2 on a bullet is not treated as a guarantee.

4

Review evidence

20%

The amazon.co.uk star line and review count are used with the saved UK texts. A small written sample is not read as a large one. Praise for reach sits next to notes of snapped tips, weak magnets and holders.

5

Price and contents

15%

The GBP shelf price is set against piece count, whether the bits are spares of one drive, and whether a pouch, case or holder is named. A low price does not outweigh sheared tips.

Long bits buying guide

Match the recess on the screw packet first, then the length, then whether the listing names a torsion zone. A magnetic tip and the letters S2 do not replace that fit. The notes below follow the checks in the research digest for UK wood screws, plasterboard and pinned Torx, using public sources and nine amazon.co.uk extracts from 21 October 2026. None of the scores is a tip-life test.

What is a long bit?

A long bit, in this category, is an extra-long screwdriver bit. The usual lengths are 90 mm to 152 mm, and the usual shank is 1/4 inch hex for a drill or an impact driver. You buy one when a 25 mm insert bit and a bulky holder will not reach a screw in a carcass, between joists, or in a deep recess. The first check is the drive and the size on the screw packet. The packet may say PZ, PH, Torx, security Torx, slotted or hex. UK wood screws are mostly Pozidriv.

Best for

  • Timber and flat-pack screws marked PZ2, with a magnetic bit at 90–152 mm
  • Pinned security Torx on an appliance or cover, where a holed bit is required
  • Plasterboard and other screws the packet marks PH, when you want spares of that size

Not ideal for

  • A Phillips bit in a Pozidriv screw, or a PZ2 pack on a pinned Torx cover
  • Live conductors, a specified structural fixing, or a safety-critical cover that will not release
  • Anyone reading a mixed 54-piece star line as if every piece were a long impact bit

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Mixing PZ and PH at size 2

UK wood screws are mostly Pozidriv and plasterboard screws are often Phillips. A Phillips bit in a Pozidriv screw cams out. Read the packet before you pick the ten-pack.

  2. 2

Using 150 mm where a shorter bit would stay stiffer

150–152 mm reaches further and flexes more. Use the shortest bit that still seats. A long bit is the wrong default for a screw a 90 mm bit can already reach.

  3. 3

Treating S2, a magnet or a mixed-set star line as proof

S2 on a bullet is not a guarantee of tip life. A magnet does not fix a wrong drive. A 4.7 on a 54-piece set is not evidence that every piece is a long impact bit, and that amazon extract does not print lengths.

What to weigh up

Drive, size and length

High

Start with the recess printed on the screw packet. PZ, PH, Torx, security Torx, slotted and hex are different seats. UK wood screws are mostly Pozidriv. A UK tool guide maps PZ2 to wood screws about 3.5–5 mm, and PH2 to plasterboard. Many appliance screws are a pinned Torx, which needs a holed bit. A Phillips bit in a Pozidriv screw cams out, so a cheap mixed pack is not a substitute for the drive you actually have. Length comes next. 90–100 mm reaches many recesses.

Impact claim, shank and magnet

High

Look for a torsion zone as well as the word impact. Several packs print the word and still have UK reviews of early tip failure. Keep the bit in line and stop when the tip walks. The usual shank is 1/4 inch hex. ISO 1173:2001 covers drive-end size and a torque test, not tip life. Bosch GB labels 1/4 inch hex bits as C 6.3 or E 6.3. Claim that form only when that model's sheet says so. Most extracts here do not state the ISO number. A magnetic tip starts a steel screw.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Timber and flat-pack, PZ2

You are driving UK wood screws marked PZ2 and you want magnetic bits at about 150 mm, with spares of that one drive. The Saxton ten-pack is 152 mm PZ2 in a pouch, about £12.99, with 4.4 from 215. Skip a Phillips-only pack unless the packet says PH.

Pinned Torx on a cover

You need a holed security Torx bit, not a PZ2 ten-pack. The toolant set lists TT7 to TT40 at 6 inches, with a torsion zone, a holder and a box, about £19.99, and 4.6 from 4,853. It leaves a Pozidriv wood screw untouched.

A first 90 mm mix

You want one 90 mm bit each of slotted, Pozidriv and Phillips for light recess work, not several spare PZ2 bits. The WojBear pack is ten drives at about £7.99, with 4.7 from 67. It is a thin buy once you lean on an impact driver.

Common questions about long bits

What is a long bit?
A long bit here is an extra-long screwdriver bit, usually 90 mm to 152 mm, with a 1/4 inch hex shank for a drill or an impact driver. You use it to reach a screw in a carcass, between joists or in a deep recess, where a 25 mm insert bit and a bulky holder will not fit. Match the drive printed on the screw packet. A magnetic tip starts a steel screw. It does not fix a wrong drive. These bits are not insulated.
Should I buy Pozidriv or Phillips?
UK wood screws are mostly Pozidriv. Plasterboard screws are often Phillips. Many appliance screws are a pinned Torx. A Phillips bit in a Pozidriv screw cams out. A UK tool guide maps PZ2 to wood screws about 3.5–5 mm, and PH2 to plasterboard. Read the packet, then pick that drive and size. Ten identical bits are spares. A mixed set is one of each size.
How long should the bit be?
90–100 mm reaches many recesses. 150–152 mm reaches further and flexes more, so use the shortest bit that still seats. A longer bit is the wrong choice where a shorter one would stay stiffer. One security Torx listing prints 6 inches and does not also print 150 mm. Take that printed length as the figure on the listing.
Does the word impact mean the bit will last?
No. Look for a torsion zone as well as the word impact. Several packs print the word and still have UK reviews of early tip failure. ISO 1173 covers the size of a 1/4 inch hex drive end and a torque test, not tip life, and only when that model's sheet says so. Keep the bit in line and stop when the tip walks. The letter S2 on a bullet is not a guarantee.
How much do long bits cost?
Shelf prices in these nine amazon.co.uk extracts run from about £7.99 to about £19.99. Entry in the extracts is about £7.99 to £9.99. Mid is about £10.98 to £14.95. The upper figure in this sample is about £19.99. A UK tool guide, as context, puts ordinary small packs around £1.59–£9.99 and named impact sets around £17.99–£29.99. Offers move. This is not a promise of the cheapest price.
When should I stop and call a professional?
Bin a cracked tip. At work, PUWER 1998 covers rupture and ejection, and HSE guidance treats power-tool debris as a reason for eye protection. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives a 30-day short-term right to reject faulty goods, against the retailer. Call a professional for a specified structural fixing, for live electrical work, and when a safety-critical cover will not release. No extract here is insulated.
Is a high star line on a mixed set a long-bit result?
A high star line on a mixed set is not proof that every piece is a long impact bit. The amazon.co.uk extract for one 54-piece colour-coded set does not print bit lengths. A separate UK listing of that set puts most bits at 25 mm, some at 125 mm, and three Torx at 150 mm. Do not treat it as a long-bit-only pack. If the job is a hole rather than a screw, start with the drill bit comparison.

Our verdict

On these nine amazon.co.uk listings, the top pick is the toolant security Torx set, listed as 6 inches from TT7 to TT40, about £19.99, with 4.6 from 4,853 reviews. That is the largest review count here on a stated long security Torx set, and the bullets name a torsion zone. It is the wrong set for PZ2 timber. The best value for a dedicated long Pozidriv pack is the Saxton ten-pack of 152 mm PZ2 bits in a pouch, about £12.99, with 4.4 from 215. Two UK texts describe snapped tips. The Bahco 54-piece set is not a long-bit-only pack: the amazon extract does not print lengths. None of these scores is a lab test.
