Security escutcheon comparison 2026

The best security escutcheons, compared.

Top pick: Bwintech 52 mm escutcheon, two pairs Best value: Amig square stainless escutcheon – About £5.43 for a square euro pair, 4.4 from 65 reviews. The inner oval hole is the fitting limit. Updated October 2026.

Certified furniture can count as TS 007 2-star hardware or as Sold Secure SS 301 hardware. On amazon.co.uk the same words mostly describe a thin key rose that tidies the hole. They are key roses, one finger pull, and one mortice swing cover. None shows a Kitemark, a TS 007 star count, Sold Secure, 24, or Secured by Design. A drilling line in the bullets is a seller claim, not a test. Match the profile, the pack, and the screws before you match a finish. The outside cylinder should not stand more than 3 mm proud of the door or the furniture. The [security escutcheon buying guide](/hub/door-and-window-security/security-escutcheon/sub/security-escutcheon-buying-guide) separates a rose from a tested guard. A security escutcheon is the plate around the keyhole.

Certified furniture can count as TS 007 2-star hardware or as Sold Secure SS 301 hardware. On amazon.co.uk the same words mostly describe a thin key rose that tidies the hole.

The best security escutcheons in detail

Bwintech 52 mm escutcheon, two pairs

Rank 1

Bwintech 52 mm escutcheon, two pairs

∼£10

Our view

Bwintech lists two pairs of 52 mm round cylinder roses at about £9.99 in zinc, with 5.0 from four ratings and no review text in the listing. The title says satin chrome and the finish field says polished, so the colour you receive is not settled by the page. Piece-count fields say 2 while the title says two pairs. The use line says residential doors, and the listing does not answer whether the roses suit an exterior door. Mounting hardware is included, and no certificate is printed. Four perfect stars without comments do not tell you whether the screws clear the lock.

Pros

  • Two pairs at about £9.99 if the title pack is what arrives
  • 52 mm round roses with fixings included
  • Zinc named as the material

Cons

  • Satin chrome in the title, polished in the finish field
  • Piece-count fields say 2 against a two-pair title
  • 5.0 from four ratings, no review text, exterior use unanswered

Best for: A spare pair of cylinder roses for a residential door, if you can return a finish that does not match the photo.

Less suitable: A euro door where the listing must say euro, or a front door that needs a tested guard.

Ultion Sweet slim pull escutcheon

Rank 2

Ultion Sweet slim pull escutcheon

∼£13

Our view

The Ultion Sweet slim pull, listed at about £12.90, is a satin nickel finger-pull escutcheon rated 5.0 from four reviews. The bullets say 76 × 32 mm and a fit for a standard euro-profile cylinder. The dimensions line says 7 × 3 × 8 cm, which does not match that bullet. A bullet claims a 20-year anti-corrosion guarantee. The listing does not name TS 007 or Sold Secure, and the manufacturer page used here does not give this escutcheon a star rating. One UK review describes it on a modern composite door, paired with an Ultion Alps cylinder, and mentions the finger pull. At 100 g in brass and nickel it is the dearest plate in this set, and it is furniture, not a documented guard.

Pros

  • Finger pull for a euro cylinder, in satin nickel, at about £12.90
  • Fixing pack included
  • A UK review used it on a composite door with an Alps cylinder
  • Weather-resistant wording and a stated anti-corrosion guarantee on the listing

Cons

  • 76 × 32 mm in the bullets against a 7 × 3 × 8 cm dimensions line
  • Four ratings, which is a small sample
  • No TS 007 or Sold Secure line

Best for: A euro door that needs a slim pull to match Ultion furniture, when the cylinder is already the security choice.

Less suitable: A mortice keyhole, or a buyer who needs the plate itself to carry a 2-star mark.

Common questions

Does it fit a euro cylinder?

Not in the listing. The bullets claim coatings and a 20-year anti-corrosion guarantee. They do not name TS 007 or Sold Secure.

What did buyers use it on?

One UK review describes a modern composite door, paired with an Ultion Alps cylinder, and mentions the finger pull.

Livawnd 53 mm round escutcheon

Rank 3

Livawnd 53 mm round escutcheon

Our view

The Livawnd kit, listed at about £6.99, is a 53 mm round euro keyhole set: two face covers, two back covers and four screws, rated 5.0 from a single amazon.co.uk rating. The bullets say stainless steel and that the plate helps stop drilling. The material field says silicone, and the listing has no review text and no TS 007, Kitemark or Sold Secure line. At 20 g the pack is light for a claimed steel surround, and the country of origin is China. Face-fixed screws tidy a hole. They are not bolt-through security furniture. Treat the 5.0 as one rating, not a test of snapping resistance.

Pros

  • 53 mm round kit for both sides of one door at about £6.99
  • Four screws named with two face covers and two back covers
  • Title states wooden and metal doors

Cons

  • Stainless steel in the bullets, silicone in the material field
  • One rating and no review text
  • No certificate; the drilling line is a seller claim

Best for: A silvery euro keyhole on a door that already has a specified cylinder, when you only need a face-fixed cover.

Less suitable: Anyone who needs a TS 007 or Sold Secure mark, or who cannot check which material arrives.

What material is listed?

The bullets say stainless steel. The specification field says silicone. Both lines are in the listing.

Is a security standard named?

No. The bullets say the plate helps stop drilling. The listing has no TS 007, Kitemark, or Sold Secure line.

UEKPDM 53 mm stainless escutcheon

Rank 4

UEKPDM 53 mm stainless escutcheon

Our view

The UEKPDM kit at about £6.99 is sold as two face covers, two back covers and four screws for one door, rated 5.0 from one rating with no review text. The bullets say stainless steel and 53 mm. The dimension line says 5.5 cm. The bullets say euro and the lock-type field says mortise lock. Weight is 20 g, the origin is China, and no certificate is in the listing. Surface-mounted screws hide a ragged hole if the profile matches. They do not document snapping resistance. Measure the hole against both the 53 mm bullet and the 5.5 cm line before you rely on either figure.

Pros

  • Both sides of one door at about £6.99, with four screws named
  • Stainless steel stated in the bullets
  • Surface-mounted kit described for a residential door

Cons

  • 53 mm in the bullets and 5.5 cm on the size line
  • Euro in the bullets and mortise in the lock-type field
  • One rating and no review text

Best for: A silvery cover for a door you have already measured, if you can live with the conflicting size lines.

Less suitable: A mortice keyhole that needs a swing flap, or any door where the profile is still unclear.

AXS 52 mm satin brass euro escutcheon

Rank 5

AXS 52 mm satin brass euro escutcheon

Our view

The AXS satin brass pair, model AXS-2002, is a 52 mm euro escutcheon at about £7.95 with 10 mm projection and face-fixed screws, rated 5.0 from one rating. The title calls it internal door hardware, and the listing does not confirm exterior doors. The box is the pair and screws, not a lock. Oval profile is another option in the title, so this ASIN is the euro satin-brass variant. The alloy is not named. A 10 mm rose depth is the plate's thickness, not permission for the cylinder to stand 10 mm proud of the handle. The Master Locksmiths Association domestic guideline still caps outside cylinder projection at 3 mm.

Pros

  • 52 mm euro pair in satin brass at about £7.95
  • Rose projection stated at 10 mm
  • Screws included, with oval kept as a separate option

Cons

  • One rating and no review text
  • Title limits the wording to internal door hardware
  • Alloy not named, and no certificate in the listing

Best for: An internal euro door that needs a satin brass rose, when the cylinder already sits within the 3 mm projection rule.

Less suitable: An external door, an oval cylinder, or a lock-snapping upgrade.

Does the listing confirm exterior doors?

No. The title says internal door hardware, and the exterior-door question is unanswered.

HanaMoon 33 mm brass keyhole cover

Rank 6

HanaMoon 33 mm brass keyhole cover

Our view

The HanaMoon cover is one 33 mm polished brass keyhole plate at about £5.29, with two screws and a stated 2 mm backplate, rated 4.6 from three reviews. A UK reviewer said it was easy to fit but needed a little persuasion before the cover swung easily. The pack is a single cover, so the other side of the door is not in the box. The listing asks whether it can be painted and does not answer. No certificate is listed. At 20 g and 33 mm it covers a small hole. It does not surround a euro cylinder the way a 52 mm rose does.

Pros

  • Single polished brass cover at about £5.29
  • Two screws included and a 2 mm backplate stated
  • A UK review describes a straightforward fit once the flap is freed

Cons

  • Only one cover in the pack
  • The swing cover needed persuasion in that review
  • Three ratings, and painting is unanswered

Best for: A small brass keyhole that needs one swing cover, if you can free a stiff flap.

Less suitable: A euro cylinder on a uPVC or composite door, or a door that needs a cover on both sides.

XFORT polished chrome euro escutcheon

Rank 7

XFORT polished chrome euro escutcheon

∼£10

Our view

Across 105 amazon.co.uk reviews, the XFORT polished chrome pair at about £9.99 scores 4.5 and is the most-reviewed euro escutcheon in this set. The listing says concealed screws, a screw plate, and a fit for euro and thumb-turn cylinders, in plated brass made in India, at 102 g. UK reviews complain that screws round off, that a pair arrived screwed together and would not separate, and that the keyhole opening is large enough to see into the lock. No diameter is listed, and no Kitemark or TS 007 line is in the listing. A bullet says the plate helps prevent drilling, which is a seller line, not a test result. It is the top pick inside this set for a concealed chrome rose, if you can return a seized pair. It is not a cylinder guard.

Pros

  • 4.5 from 105 reviews, the largest count in the set, at about £9.99
  • Concealed screws and a screw plate on a brass pair
  • Bullets cover euro and thumb-turn cylinders, internal and external

Cons

  • Screws that round off, in UK reviews
  • A pair that arrived seized and would not separate
  • No diameter listed, and reviewers note a large aperture
  • The drilling line is a seller claim, not a certificate

Best for: A euro or thumb-turn door that needs a polished chrome rose with hidden screws, if you will return a unit that will not come apart.

Less suitable: A mortice keyhole, a door that needs a stated diameter, or any snap specification.

Amig square stainless escutcheon

Rank 8

Amig square stainless escutcheon

Our view

The Amig 5RX is two square stainless roses, 52 × 52 mm and 7 mm thick, listed at about £5.43 and rated 4.4 from 65 amazon.co.uk reviews. The bullets describe a cover for euro profile cylinders, and the listing says interior and exterior use. One UK review says it was easy and as described. Another says the inner piece has only an oval hole and is tricky to line up. Projection is 8 mm and centre spacing is 54 mm. Made in Spain, the pair weighs 110 g. No TS 007 or Sold Secure line appears. At this price it is the best value in the set if you can align that inner hole, and it is still a rose, not a tested guard.

Pros

  • Two 52 mm square euro roses at about £5.43
  • 4.4 from 65 reviews, the second-largest count in the set
  • Stainless steel, interior and exterior stated, made in Spain
  • Screws included

Cons

  • Inner oval hole is awkward to line up, in a UK review
  • No security certificate in the listing
  • The 8 mm rose still has to leave the cylinder within 3 mm of the face

Best for: A euro cylinder door that needs a matte square rose on a budget, if you can line up the inner hole.

Less suitable: A mortice keyhole, or a door that needs a Kitemarked 2-star guard.

Infinity Decor Victorian swing cover

Rank 9

Infinity Decor Victorian swing cover

Our view

The Infinity Decor SB3110ANT is one 35 mm antique brass swing cover at about £8.95, rated 3.9 from 23 reviews, for a mortice keyhole listed at 22 × 8 mm. A UK reviewer says it is for a mortice lock, not a euro rose. UK reviews say the supplied screws are too long, and one says they clash with the mortice unless the door is about 80 mm thick, naming an M3 × 10 mm countersunk screw as their own fix. Another review says the rivet on the back is a little long and holds the plate off the door. It is solid brass at 70 g, with no certificate. It closes a traditional keyhole. It will not surround a euro cylinder.

Pros

  • 35 mm antique brass swing cover for a 22 × 8 mm mortice keyhole
  • Solid brass, one cover and fixings at about £8.95
  • 23 reviews, enough to see the long-screw complaint repeat

Cons

  • Supplied screws described as too long
  • A long rivet can hold the plate off the door
  • One side only, and the wrong shape for a euro cylinder

Best for: A traditional mortice keyhole that needs an antique brass flap, if you can shorten or replace the screws.

Less suitable: A euro or oval cylinder, or a thin door where the stock screws will hit the lock.

UK reviewers say they are too long. One says they clash with the mortice lock unless the door is about 80 mm thick, and names an M3 × 10 mm countersunk screw.

Does the plate sit flat?

One UK review says the rivet on the back is a little long and holds the escutcheon off the door.

Infinity Decor black nickel euro escutcheon

Rank 10

Infinity Decor black nickel euro escutcheon

Our view

The Infinity Decor SB3104BN is two black nickel euro roses on zinc, 52 × 52 × 8 mm, listed at about £8.95 and rated 3.8 from six reviews. The bullets say a concealed fixing with no visible screws, and the listing says interior and exterior. The listing has one UK review text, which says the fit was close, and no criticism in that comment. The piece-count field says 6 pieces while the unit count says 2, so the box contents are not clean on the page. Weight is 90 g, and no certificate is printed. Six ratings and one comment are a thin record beside the larger samples in this set. Concealed screws look neater. They do not turn zinc into a 2-star guard.

Pros

  • Black nickel euro pair at 52 × 52 × 8 mm
  • Concealed fixings stated
  • One UK review reports a close fit

Cons

  • 3.8 from only six reviews
  • Piece-count field says 6 against a unit count of 2
  • Zinc, with no security mark in the listing

Best for: A euro door that needs a black nickel rose, if you can check the screws on arrival.

Less suitable: A mortice keyhole, or a buyer who wants a large review sample before ordering.

The star line is 3.8 from 6. The listing has one UK review text, which says the fit was close, and no criticism.

How we compared

Ten amazon.co.uk security-escutcheon listings were scored from the listing text and the review notes already on file. There is no laboratory test. A score is not a TS 007, Kitemark, Sold Secure, PAS 24, or Secured by Design result. Stars are scaled, then given a small allowance for the number of ratings, so 5.0 from one rating does not outrank 4.5 from 105 reviews. The plate has to match one job: euro rose, cylinder rose, mortice swing cover, or finger pull. A pair for one door is expected. Listing conflicts, a missing diameter, and the absence of any security mark are deducted. A bullet that says the plate stops drilling does not add a star. The highest score is the top pick. The strongest price against a high score and a large rating count is the best value.

1

Amazon stars and review count

35%

The star rating is scaled, then given a small allowance for how many amazon.co.uk ratings sit behind it. A 5.0 from one rating does not outrank 4.5 from 105 reviews.

2

Job match

25%

The plate has to match one job: a euro rose, a cylinder rose, a mortice swing cover, or a finger pull. A title that names a different hole is not credited as a match.

3

A pair for one door is expected. One cover, or a title that disagrees with the piece count, is noted. Face-fixed screws are not treated as bolt-through security furniture.

4

Security escutcheon buying guide

Decide the job before the finish. A ragged keyhole needs a rose in the right profile. A snap risk on a uPVC or composite door needs a tested cylinder, or tested furniture plus a 1-star cylinder. These ten amazon.co.uk listings are roses, one finger pull, and one mortice swing cover, from about £5.29 to about £12.90. None prints a Kitemark, TS 007, Sold Secure, PAS 24, or Secured by Design. A bullet that says the plate stops drilling does not change that.

What is a security escutcheon?

A security escutcheon is the plate around the keyhole. In UK locksmith language it means protective furniture around a euro cylinder: a hardened surround, often fixed from the inside, that can count as TS 007 2-star hardware or Sold Secure SS 301 Bronze hardware when it is actually certified. On amazon.co.uk the same words mostly describe a thin key rose that tidies the hole.

Best for

  • A euro keyhole that only needs a matching rose
  • A mortice keyhole that needs a swing flap
  • A door where the cylinder is already the security choice

Not ideal for

  • A snap upgrade on a uPVC or composite door
  • An oval cylinder if the plate you order is euro
  • A fire door you have not checked before drilling

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Reading a drilling claim as a Kitemark

A bullet that says the plate stops drilling is a seller line. None of these ten listings shows TS 007, Sold Secure, PAS 24, or Secured by Design. A 5.0 from one rating is not that test either.

  2. 2

    Mixing euro, oval, and mortice

Euro roses do not fit oval cylinders. The Victorian cover is a 35 mm swing plate for a mortice keyhole stated at 22 × 8 mm. UEKPDM's bullets say euro and the lock-type field says mortise, so measure before you treat either line as the fit.

  3. 3

    Leaving the cylinder proud

The Master Locksmiths Association guideline caps outside projection at 3 mm beyond the door face or the furniture. A thinner rose can uncover a cylinder that an older plate had covered. Buying one side, when the door needs a pair, leaves the other face bare.

What to weigh up

Profile, pack and fixing

High

The profile is the first cut. A euro rose covers a euro cylinder. It does not fit an oval cylinder, and it does not close a mortice keyhole. Amig, XFORT, AXS, Livawnd, Ultion Sweet and the Infinity Decor black nickel pair are sold as euro plates. UEKPDM's bullets say euro and the lock-type field says mortise. Bwintech names a cylinder hole rather than the word euro. The Victorian cover is a 35 mm swing plate for a keyhole stated at 22 × 8 mm. HanaMoon is one 33 mm brass cover.

Mark, projection and conflicts

High

A drilling bullet is a seller line and does not add a star. TS 007 gives 1 star to a cylinder, 2 stars to protective furniture, and 3 stars to a higher-tested cylinder. One plus two is the three-star route. A 1-star cylinder alone is not anti-snap. SS 312 Diamond stands alone, and SS 312 Gold needs SS 301 Bronze furniture. A trade 2-star pair, the Eurospec AEB1750, was about £28.18. Nothing in this set prints that mark.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Euro door, matching finish

You want a polished chrome rose for a euro or thumb-turn cylinder, and you want the largest review file in this set. The XFORT pair is about £9.99, with 4.5 from 105 reviews and concealed screws. Return a pair that arrives seized. It is not a TS 007 guard.

Euro door, lower spend

You need two square stainless roses for a euro cylinder and you can line up an inner hole. The Amig pair is about £5.43, with 4.4 from 65 reviews. A UK review says that oval hole is awkward. It is still a rose, not a tested guard.

Traditional mortice keyhole

The hole is a mortice keyhole, stated around 22 × 8 mm, and you want an antique brass flap. The Infinity Decor Victorian cover is one 35 mm plate at about £8.95. UK reviews say the supplied screws are too long. It will not surround a euro cylinder.

Common questions about security escutcheons

Which security escutcheon is the top pick in 2026?
The XFORT polished chrome euro pair is the top pick in this set. It is about £9.99, with 4.5 from 105 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest review file here. The listing says concealed screws and a fit for euro and thumb-turn cylinders. UK reviews also report screws that round off, a pair that arrived seized, and a large keyhole. No diameter and no TS 007 line are in the listing. It is a rose, not a tested guard.
How much does a security escutcheon cost on amazon.co.uk?
In this set the shelf prices run from about £5.29 to about £12.90. HanaMoon is about £5.29 and the Amig square pair is about £5.43. Mid-range plates, including both Infinity Decor listings and the XFORT pair, sit from about £8.95 to about £9.99. The Ultion Sweet pull is about £12.90. A trade TS 007 2-star pair, the Eurospec AEB1750, was about £28.18 at Door Controls Direct. Six listings have fewer than five ratings.
What should you check before you buy a security escutcheon?
Name the job first. A tidy keyhole needs a rose in the right profile: euro, oval, or mortice. A snap risk needs a tested cylinder, or tested furniture plus a 1-star cylinder. Then check the pack. One cover leaves the other side of the door bare. Face-fixed screws are not bolt-through furniture. Read conflicts on material, finish, size, and piece count before you trust a bullet. The Master Locksmiths Association guideline caps outside cylinder projection at 3 mm.
Does a security escutcheon stop lock snapping?
Not these plates. None of the ten listings shows TS 007, Sold Secure, PAS 24, or Secured by Design. A bullet that says the plate stops drilling is a seller line. TS 007 2-star furniture, or Sold Secure SS 301 Bronze furniture, is a different product and still needs the matching cylinder route. A key rose does not replace an SS 312 Diamond or TS 007 3-star cylinder. For the barrel, use the lock cylinder comparison.
Is a euro rose the same as a mortice swing cover?
No. A euro rose covers a euro cylinder. It will not fit an oval cylinder, and it will not close a traditional mortice keyhole. The Infinity Decor Victorian cover is a 35 mm swing plate for a keyhole stated at 22 × 8 mm, and UK reviews say the supplied screws are too long. The Ultion Sweet pull, about £12.90, has no TS 007 star on the manufacturer page used here.
How far may the cylinder stick out past the escutcheon?
The Master Locksmiths Association domestic guideline says the outside cylinder shall not protrude more than 3 mm beyond the door face or the lock furniture. ERA's 3-star measuring sheet uses the same 3 mm maximum beyond the external handle. Rose depth on the AXS listing is 10 mm, and the Amig listing states 8 mm projection. Those figures describe the plate, not permission for the cylinder to stand that far out.
When should you call a locksmith instead of fitting a rose?
Call a locksmith if the multipoint lock will not throw, an insurer has named a standard, a 3-star cylinder will not enter square, or the door is a fire door. The 2023 joint cylinder guide says loosen escutcheons first, do not force the cylinder, and do not power-drive the retaining screw. Approved Document Q in England applies to new dwellings, not to a like-for-like rose on an existing house. A listing rank is not a certificate.

Our verdict

The XFORT polished chrome euro pair is the top pick: the highest score in this set, 4.5 from 105 amazon.co.uk reviews, concealed screws, about £9.99. UK reviews already record screws that round off and a pair that arrived seized, and no diameter is listed. It is a rose, not a tested guard. The Amig square pair is the best value: about £5.43, 4.4 from 65 reviews, stainless steel, for a euro cylinder. The inner oval hole is the fitting limit, in a UK review. Both awards stay inside this set of uncertified plates. None prints TS 007, Sold Secure, PAS 24, or Secured by Design.
