Padlocks keyed alike comparison 2026

The best keyed-alike padlocks, compared.

Top pick: ABUS 64TI/40 4-pack – Highest score: ABUS 64TI/40 four-pack, 4.7 from 386 reviews at about £31.01, with a stated 6.5 mm shackle. Level 5 is the maker's average-risk scale, not CEN 5. Best value: SEPOX long-shackle 4-pack – About £18.96 with a score of 88 and 4.4 from 1,623 reviews. Rank 1 is popularity. Shackle rust and a hammer review keep it off the top pick. Updated October 2026.

A keyed-alike padlock set is several padlocks that open with the same key. You use it for a shed, a side gate, a garage or a locker, so you are not carrying a different key for each hasp. It is whether the carton really is one suite, whether the shackle fits the hasp, whether the body still turns after British rain, and whether a or Sold Secure mark is printed. None of the eight amazon.co.uk packs here prints a grade or a Sold Secure mark. Security level 5 is the maker's 1-to-10 scale for average risk, not grade 5. Sharing a key does not lower the tests of that model. One lost or copied key opens every lock in the suite. The [padlocks keyed alike buying guide](/hub/door-and-window-security/padlocks-keyed-alike/sub/padlocks-keyed-alike-buying-guide) sets out suite scope, shackle fit and grades before you choose a pack size. Five spare keys for one lock are not a keyed-alike set.

A keyed-alike padlock set is several padlocks that open with the same key. You use it for a shed, a side gate, a garage or a locker, so you are not carrying a different key for each hasp.

The best keyed-alike padlocks in detail

ABUS 64TI/40 4-pack

Rank 1

ABUS 64TI/40 4-pack

∼£31

Our view

The ABUS 64TI/40 four-pack is four 40 mm Titalium locks and five keys at about £31.01, at 4.7 from 386 amazon.co.uk reviews. The listing prints ABUS security level 5, which is the maker's 1-to-10 scale, and it says the lock is for medium-sized valuables or an average risk of theft. It does not print a CEN grade or a Sold Secure mark. The shackle is hardened steel, 6.5 mm thick, with 23 mm of clear height and 22 mm of clear width on a 40 mm aluminium body. United Kingdom reviews treat the shared key as the reason for buying, and they mention rain and about a year outdoors. One buyer had been told beforehand that the locks were not keyed alike, so the carton still needs a check on day one. The details weight is 200 g and a bullet says 87 g each, which the file does not reconcile.

Pros

  • Four locks and five keys at about £31.01
  • 4.7 from 386 reviews, the highest star line in this set
  • Stated shackle: 6.5 mm, 23 mm clear height, 22 mm clear width
  • ABUS states an average-risk limit rather than a blank heavy-duty line

Cons

  • Security level 5 is not a CEN grade
  • Open 6.5 mm shackle, which a cutter can still reach
  • One buyer was told the locks were not keyed alike
  • Weight is 200 g in the details and 87 g each in a bullet

Best for: Average-risk sheds and gates, which is the limit printed on the listing, if a 6.5 mm open shackle fits the hasp.

Less suitable: A policy that names Sold Secure or a BS EN 12320 grade, or a staple this 23 mm clearance will not enter.

Common questions

Is security level 5 a CEN grade?

The listing prints ABUS security level 5 and says the lock is for medium-sized valuables or an average risk of theft. It does not print a CEN grade or a Sold Secure mark.

What shackle size is printed?

Diameter 6.5 mm, clear height 23 mm, clear width 22 mm, on a 40 mm body.

Are the four locks one key?

The bullet says yes, with five keys. UK reviews describe that as the reason for buying. One buyer had been told beforehand that they were not keyed alike.

KAWAHA 41/50 stainless pair

Rank 2

KAWAHA 41/50 stainless pair

∼£28

Our view

The KAWAHA 41/50 is two 50 mm shrouded padlocks and six keys at about £27.99, at 4.5 from 21 amazon.co.uk reviews. The key comes out only when the lock is locked, so you cannot pocket it while the shackle is still open. The bullets say SUS304 stainless steel, and the details also list brass, so the body description is split. One United Kingdom review left the pair on parking bollards for about six weeks of rain and saw no rust. Twenty-one reviews is a short sample, and six weeks is not a British winter. A seller line claims a pull of more than 4 tons, with no test report in the file. No CEN grade is printed, and the shared key covers this pair only.

Pros

  • Two shrouded 50 mm locks and six keys at about £27.99
  • 4.5 from 21 reviews
  • Key comes out only when the padlock is locked
  • One UK note of about six weeks on bollards with no rust seen

Cons

  • Only 21 reviews in the file
  • Bullets say stainless steel and the details also list brass
  • A pull figure of more than 4 tons has no test report here
  • No CEN grade is printed

Best for: A gate or a bollard if a shrouded pair is what you need and you can accept a 21-review file.

Less suitable: A shed that needs four locks, or a winter you want described by more than one six-week note.

Common questions

Can you take the key out while the lock is open?

No. The listing says the key can only be removed when the padlock is locked.

Does the listing show a CEN grade?

No. Anti-drill and cut resistant are feature labels. A pull figure of more than 4 tons is a seller sentence with no test report in the file.

How has it coped with rain?

One UK review left the pair on parking bollards for about six weeks of rain and saw no rust. The listing has 21 reviews in total, so that is a short sample.

SEPOX long-shackle 4-pack

Rank 3

SEPOX long-shackle 4-pack

∼£19

Our view

The SEPOX long-shackle four-pack is four locks at about £18.96, ranked 1 in Keyed Padlocks on amazon.co.uk, at 4.4 from 1,623 reviews. The title says a 58 mm shackle, which is why buyers put it on a gate or a locker hasp that a short bow will not reach. Rank 1 is a sales position, not a CEN grade, and no Sold Secure mark is printed. The included-components line says four padlocks with the same key and does not number the keys. A United Kingdom review mentions two. Buyers use them on gates, sheds and a school locker. One review says the shackle rusts in UK weather while the lock still works. Another said a hammer blow took a lock apart.

Pros

  • Four long-shackle locks at about £18.96
  • 4.4 from 1,623 reviews, the largest count in this set
  • Title states a 58 mm shackle for a hasp a short bow misses
  • Five-year warranty line

Cons

  • Rank 1 is not a security grade
  • A review says the shackle rusts in UK weather
  • A review says a hammer blow took a lock apart
  • Key count is not listed, and one review mentions two keys

Best for: A gate or locker hasp that needs the extra shackle length, if you can live with rust on the bow and you do not need a printed grade.

Less suitable: A street-facing hasp where a long open shackle is easy to cut, or a contents list that asks for Sold Secure.

Does rank 1 mean a security grade?

No. The amazon.co.uk listing ranks it 1 in Keyed Padlocks. No CEN grade or Sold Secure mark is printed.

What do UK reviews say about rain?

Buyers use them on gates, sheds and a school locker. One review says the shackle rusts in UK weather while the lock still works. Another said a hammer blow took a lock apart.

KAWAHA 81/40 brass 4-pack

Rank 4

KAWAHA 81/40 brass 4-pack

∼£29

Our view

The KAWAHA 81/40 is four 40 mm padlocks and six keys at about £28.99, listed at 4.4 from 467 amazon.co.uk reviews. The bullet says the locks are keyed alike inside this set only, and that a different KAWAHA carton will not open them. The details field says brass, while a bullet also says a high-strength zinc alloy body, and the file does not choose between them. The shackle is hardened steel, and the pack includes a shrink tube. One United Kingdom review said that tube would not shrink onto the tight radius and was damaged in use. There is a one-year warranty line and no printed CEN or Sold Secure mark. The listing also carries an App control field, and the product text describes a key padlock with no app.

Pros

  • Four 40 mm locks and six keys at about £28.99
  • 4.4 from 467 reviews
  • Keyed alike is limited, in the bullet, to this set
  • One-year warranty line on the listing

Cons

  • Body is listed as brass and, in a bullet, as zinc alloy
  • A review said the shrink tube would not seat on a tight radius
  • Another carton from the same brand will not match
  • No CEN grade or Sold Secure mark is printed

Best for: A shed, gate or locker hasp that takes a 40 mm open shackle, if you only need the locks in this carton.

Less suitable: Anyone who wants to add a fifth lock on the same key next year, or who needs the body metal stated once.

No. The bullet says keyed alike within the same set only, and that different sets are not mutually unlocked.

What is the body made of?

The details field says brass. A bullet also says a high-strength zinc alloy body. Both lines are in the listing, and the file does not choose between them.

Does the shrink tube work?

It is in the pack for the shackle. One UK review said it would not shrink onto the tight radius and was damaged in use.

SEPOX 40 mm 3-pack

Rank 5

SEPOX 40 mm 3-pack

∼£14

Our view

The SEPOX three-pack is three laminated 40 mm locks and six keys at about £13.97, at 4.3 from 414 amazon.co.uk reviews, with a five-year warranty line. Many reviews praise one key for a shed and a toolbox. One United Kingdom review said a lock was useless after about two weeks, and another found the locks unsuitable outside after about six months. The body is listed as laminated alloy steel with a weather-proof finish, and no CEN or Sold Secure mark is printed. Shackle diameter is not stated, so the hasp still has to be measured against the bow you receive. The listing fields say App and Wi-Fi. The bullets, the pack contents and the reviews describe a key padlock, and there is no app in the product text.

Pros

  • Three locks and six keys at about £13.97, the lowest price here
  • 4.3 from 414 reviews
  • Laminated body and a five-year warranty line
  • Reviews that use one key on a shed and a toolbox

Cons

  • One review called a lock useless after about two weeks
  • Another found them unsuitable outside after about six months
  • App and Wi-Fi appear on the listing and are not described
  • No shackle diameter and no security mark

Best for: A low-cost shed and toolbox set if you accept mixed outdoor reviews and you measure the shackle yourself.

Less suitable: A gate you will not see for months, or anyone who read the App field and expected a phone lock.

SEPOX long-shackle 6-title

Rank 6

SEPOX long-shackle 6-title

∼£24

Our view

This SEPOX listing is titled as six long-shackle locks at about £23.97, and the star line is 4.3 from 414 reviews, the same figures and the same DIY rank as the three-pack B0CPY9CN2Q. The title and the item count say six. The included-components line says three padlocks and six keys. Most of the review texts talk about three locks, so those 414 reviews are not a verdict on a six-lock suite. The title says a 58 mm extra-long shackle, and the dimensions line is 40 × 22 × 91 mm. Shackle diameter is not stated. No security grade is printed. The file does not resolve how many bodies are in the carton.

Pros

  • Title price of about £23.97 for a long-shackle keyed-alike claim
  • 58 mm shackle length is stated in the title
  • Five-year warranty line, shared with the other SEPOX listings

Cons

  • Title says six locks and the components line says three
  • The 4.3 from 414 matches the three-pack, and most reviews describe three locks
  • Shackle diameter is not stated
  • No CEN grade or Sold Secure mark

Best for: Only a buyer who counts the bodies in the carton before fitting any of them.

Less suitable: Anyone choosing by the word six in the title, or by the star line, without opening the box.

Maudex IP450 4-pack

Rank 7

Maudex IP450 4-pack

∼£27

Our view

The Maudex IP450 is four covered padlocks and 12 keys at about £26.99, and the amazon.co.uk listing sits at 4.3 from 168 reviews. The body is described as iron under black plastic, with rubber rings and a weather-resistant line, and no CEN grade or Sold Secure mark is printed. The listing says the 12 keys work across the four locks. Several United Kingdom reviews found only three the same, or two pairs, and one buyer returned the set. A keyed-alike shed and gate only works if every lock turns on the first afternoon, so that carton check is the whole point of the pack. One reviewer could not pass the rubber weather section through the hole in their gate bolts. Weather resistant is a feature line, not a test result in this file.

Pros

  • Four locks and 12 keys at about £26.99
  • 4.3 from 168 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Plastic cover and rubber rings over the shackle
  • Weather-resistant line on the listing

Cons

  • Several UK reviews found the four locks were not one key
  • One buyer returned the set
  • A rubber weather section would not pass a gate-bolt hole
  • No CEN grade or Sold Secure mark is printed

Best for: A shed or gate set if you try every key in every lock on the day it arrives and the cover actually passes the bolt.

Less suitable: A gate bolt the rubber section will not enter, or any hasp where you cannot check the keys before you rely on them.

OGMBI discus 6-pack

Rank 8

OGMBI discus 6-pack

∼£23

Our view

The OGMBI D34144 is six round discus padlocks and 12 keys at about £22.99, and the amazon.co.uk listing is 2.8 from 13 reviews. The title says one key opens all six. Several United Kingdom reviews say it does not, including one that found only two the same, while one review said a single key did open them. A closed shape does not rescue a carton whose keys may not match. The feature line says waterproof. Reviews say rain gets in and that the locks were hard to open after about three months outside. A review also says the shackle toe has no notch and the body feels light. No security grade is printed.

Pros

  • Six discus bodies and 12 keys at about £22.99
  • A round shape that hides more of the shackle than an open bow
  • One review said a single key did open the set

Cons

  • 2.8 from 13 reviews
  • Several UK reviews say the keys do not match
  • Rain in the lock, and hard to open after about three months
  • A review says the shackle toe has no notch and the body feels light

Best for: A buyer who has already tried every lock and is only keeping the ones that match.

Less suitable: A shed or a gate you intend to lock and leave, which is the use the reviews in this file do not support.

How we compared

Eight amazon.co.uk keyed-alike padlock listings were scored from the listing text and the review notes already on file. There is no laboratory test. Star ratings count only with the UK review file behind them. A keyed-alike claim that those reviews deny, or a title that says six locks while the components line says three, is a heavy deduction. A stated shackle diameter and clearance rank above body width alone. ABUS security level 5 is the maker's 1-to-10 scale, not a BS EN 12320 grade. No listing in this set prints a CEN grade or a Sold Secure mark. The highest score is the top pick. The best price against a still-useful score for a real hasp is the best value.

1

UK review evidence

25%

Amazon star rating, then a deduction when few reviews sit behind it, or when the same star line is printed on two packs.

2

One suite in the carton

25%

A keyed-alike claim that United Kingdom reviews deny is a heavy deduction. A title that says six locks while the components line says three is the same kind of deduction.

3

Shackle fit

20%

A stated shackle diameter and clearance rank above a body width alone. A long shackle is a fit fact, not a security grade.

4

Security mark as printed

15%

ABUS security level 5 is the maker's 1-to-10 scale. It is not treated as a BS EN 12320 grade. No listing in this set prints a CEN grade or a Sold Secure mark.

5

Listing clashes

10%

Deductions cover shackle rust, a cover that will not enter a gate bolt, a mechanism a hammer took apart, and a feature line the reviews or the product text do not support.

6

Price in this set

Price is judged inside this set only. The lowest price is not the best value when a few pounds more buys a higher score and a much larger review count.

Padlocks keyed alike buying guide

Decide how many locks you need, whether this carton is really one key, then whether the shackle enters the hasp, then whether anyone has asked for a printed grade. A long bow is a fit fact, not a security grade. None of the eight amazon.co.uk listings here prints a CEN grade or a Sold Secure mark. ABUS security level 5 is the maker's 1-to-10 scale for average risk. The top pick is the ABUS 64TI/40 four-pack at about £31.01. The best value is the SEPOX long-shackle four-pack at about £18.96.

What is a keyed-alike padlock set?

A keyed-alike padlock set is several padlocks sold to open with the same key. In the UK that is usually a shed, a side gate, a garage and a locker, so you are not carrying a different key for each hasp. Five spare keys for one lock are not a keyed-alike set. Sharing a key does not change the security tests of that model. It does mean one lost or copied key opens every lock in the suite. Locks Direct states that point.

Best for

  • A household that wants one key for a gate, a shed and a toolbox, and will check the keys on day one
  • A locker or school hasp that needs a short or long shackle which actually enters the hole
  • Average-risk use where no policy has named Sold Secure or a CEN grade

Not ideal for

  • A bike or trade tools when the policy names Sold Secure or a BS EN 12320 grade
  • Anyone who needs the next carton, or a house cylinder, to match this key
  • A shed or gate you will lock and leave if you cannot try every key first

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Calling spare keys keyed alike

Five keys in a box can all open one lock. Keyed alike means the locks in the suite share a key. Sharing that key does not lower the tests of the model. It does mean a lost or copied key opens every lock you fitted.

  2. 2

    Assuming the next carton matches

KAWAHA prints that different sets are not mutually unlocked. These packs are not rekeyable. If you need a fifth lock next year, or a match to a house cylinder, this is a locksmith job, not a second click of the same listing.

  3. 3

Buying the longest shackle by default

A 58 mm bow reaches a gate hasp and leaves more metal for cutters. ProtectUK wants a close shackle, or a shroud, on a gate. A waterproof line, including on the 2.8-star discus pack, is a feature sentence, not a test result.

What to weigh up

Suite scope

High

The first check is whether the carton is one suite, and whether you can buy another lock on that key later. Keyed alike within this set only, which the KAWAHA 81/40 bullet prints, is an honest limit. It is not a reorderable key number. Count the hasps before you choose a pair, a three-pack or a four-pack. Five spare keys for a single lock are a different product. Then prove the keys on delivery.

Shackle and grade

High

Measure the hasp, not the body. The figures that matter are shackle diameter, clear height and clear width. The ABUS 64TI/40 states 6.5 mm, 23 mm clear height and 22 mm clear width on a 40 mm aluminium body. The SEPOX long-shackle titles say 58 mm, which reaches a gate a short bow will miss, and also leaves more metal for cutters. ProtectUK wants a close-shackle padlock, or a shroud, on gates, and two hasps with closed shackles on a wooden shed door.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

One key for shed and gate

You want one key for a gate, a shed and a toolbox, and you will try every lock on the day the carton arrives. The ABUS 64TI/40 four-pack is about £31.01, with 4.7 from 386 reviews and a stated 6.5 mm shackle. Security level 5 is the maker's average-risk scale, not a CEN grade.

Gate or locker, long bow

The hasp needs a longer shackle than a 40 mm open bow. The SEPOX long-shackle four-pack is about £18.96, with 4.4 from 1,623 reviews, and the title says 58 mm. Rank 1 is a sales position. Reviews report shackle rust, and one says a hammer blow took a lock apart.

Two shrouded locks

You need a pair, not a four-pack, and a shrouded body. The KAWAHA 41/50 is about £27.99, with 4.5 from 21 reviews, and the key comes out only when the lock is locked. Twenty-one reviews is a short sample. A policy that names Sold Secure or a CEN grade is outside this whole set.

Common questions about keyed-alike padlocks

Which keyed-alike padlock is the top pick in 2026?
The ABUS 64TI/40 four-pack is the top pick in this set. It is about £31.01 on amazon.co.uk, with 4.7 from 386 reviews, and it states a hardened shackle of 6.5 mm, 23 mm clear height and 22 mm clear width. ABUS security level 5 is the maker's 1-to-10 scale for average risk, not a CEN grade. No Sold Secure mark is printed. Still try every key on the day the carton arrives.
How much do keyed-alike padlocks cost?
In this set the amazon.co.uk prices run from about £13.97 to about £31.01. The SEPOX three-pack is about £13.97 and the long-shackle four-pack is about £18.96. Mid-pack listings sit from about £22.99 to about £28.99. Security Guides' rule of thumb for a graded shed lock is about £20 to £35 at CEN 3 or Sold Secure Silver. None of these eight packs prints that grade, so the band is context, not a price in this table.
What should you check before you buy a keyed-alike set?
Count the locks you need, then confirm the carton is one suite. Measure shackle diameter, clear height and clear width against the hasp, not the body width. A 58 mm bow reaches a gate and leaves more metal for cutters. Look for a printed CEN or Sold Secure mark if the policy names one. None of these eight listings prints either mark. Try every key in every lock before you fit the hasps.
Is ABUS security level 5 the same as CEN grade 5?
No. The ABUS 64TI/40 listing prints security level 5 and says the lock is for medium-sized valuables or an average risk of theft. ABUS Global Protection runs from 1 to 10. BS EN 12320:2021 grades padlocks from 1 to 6. Sold Secure maps Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond to CEN 3, 4, 5 and 6. Level 5 on this pack is the maker's scale. It is not a CEN grade and not a Sold Secure mark.
Does a shared key make the padlock weaker?
Sharing a key does not change the tests of that model. It means one lost or copied key opens every lock in the suite. A copied key does not look like forced entry. Admiral says a theft claim may need that proof, and limits differ by policy. The AA requires the shed to be locked with a decent padlock on a hasp. Do not leave spare keys in the shed. For one hasp only, use the padlock comparison.
Is the SEPOX six-lock listing really six locks?
The title and the item count say six long-shackle locks at about £23.97. The included-components line says three padlocks and six keys. The star line is 4.3 from 414 reviews, the same figures as the SEPOX three-pack, and most of the review texts talk about three locks. The listing does not say how many bodies are in the carton. Do not treat the word six, or that shared star line, as a confirmed six-lock suite.
When should you call a locksmith?
Call a locksmith if the stile is rotten, if these padlocks must match an existing house cylinder, if the insurer has named a CEN grade or a Sold Secure mark you cannot see on the listing, or if a lost key may have been copied on a workshop suite. Most of these packs are not rekeyable, and the next carton from the same brand will not match. A waterproof line on the 2.8-star discus pack is not a test result.

Our verdict

The ABUS 64TI/40 four-pack is the top pick: the highest score in this set, about £31.01, 4.7 from 386 amazon.co.uk reviews, and a stated 6.5 mm shackle with 23 mm of clear height. ABUS security level 5 is the maker's average-risk scale, not CEN grade 5, and no Sold Secure mark is printed. The SEPOX long-shackle four-pack is the best value at about £18.96 with a score of 88 and 4.4 from 1,623 reviews. Shackle rust and a hammer review keep it off the top pick. The three-pack is cheaper at about £13.97 and does not take that badge, because the four-pack costs about £5 more with a higher score and a much larger review count. None of these eight packs is a printed CEN or Sold Secure lock.
