Doorstep comparison 2026

The best doorsteps, compared.

Top pick: Aukimo GlowStep – Highest score in the set: 4.7 from 277 reviews, and three heights changed without tools. Best value: Aidapt outdoor half step – About £14.99, 4.6 from 1,080 reviews, with 9 cm and 135 kg stated once on the listing. Updated October 2026.

A doorstep half step splits one high rise into two smaller ones. If you still walk, use a stick, or you are helping an older relative or a dog over a back door, the useful buy is a low platform close to half that rise, usually about 9–11 cm. This comparison puts twelve amazon.co.uk listings side by side. Living says the two rises should be equal, so measure before you buy. Judge tread depth, a user weight the same page does not contradict, a tread that sheds water, and a base that does not rock. How to measure the rise, the aid and the ground is set out in the [doorstep buying guide](/hub/door-and-window-security/doorstep/sub/doorstep-buying-guide). Scores use those listings and public UK guidance.

The best doorsteps in detail

Aukimo GlowStep

Rank 1

Aukimo GlowStep

∼£30

Our view

Across 277 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Aukimo GlowStep is a polypropylene and TPE platform at £29.99, with a maximum height of 5 inches and three levels that reviewers change without tools. The item weighs 2.33 kg on the specification. Buyers use it for a high bed, a raised shower tray and a patio, and several report no wobble. The listing prints 600 lb and 250 kg, which are not the same mass, and the footprint is 42 by 9.4 by 32 cm on one line and about 16.3 by 12.4 by 3.7 inches in the bullets. Some buyers see the night glow and more than one does not. The platform is smaller than some people pictured, and stacking leaves foot-pad impressions. A 4.7 from 277 reviews is the highest star line in this set, and the conflicting weight is why that score is not a load you can quote.

Pros

  • Three heights, changed without tools in reviews
  • 4.7 from 277 reviews at £29.99
  • Several buyers report no wobble
  • Used for a high bed, a shower tray and a patio

Cons

  • 600 lb and 250 kg are both printed
  • The footprint lines disagree
  • The glow is not visible for some buyers
  • Smaller than some buyers expected

Best for: A bed, a shower tray or a door where you need to try more than one height and you will not treat either weight figure as settled.

Less suitable: A buy that needs one agreed kilogram limit, or a night light you can count on.

Common questions

What weight does Aukimo print?

The specification says 600 pounds. The item highlight says 250 kg. Those are not the same figure.

Do you need tools to change the height?

The form says assembly is not required. UK reviews say the height changes without tools.

Does the surface glow?

The listing claims a glow-in-the-dark tread. Some UK reviews see it at night and some do not.

Aidapt outdoor half step

Rank 2

Aidapt outdoor half step

∼£15

Our view

Across 1,080 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Aidapt VR278B is a 1.44 kg plastic step, 39 by 48 by 9 cm, listed at 135 kg, at £14.99. Reviewers say it halves a back-door or front-door rise and feels secure, including for a heavier adult at a patio door, a high shower step, getting into bed, a car when a knee will not lift, and an older dog. The specification says assembly is required and the bullets do not say which parts you fit. Water passed through for some buyers and puddled between the grips for others. Plastic supports split after about a year, including on a shed step that was not used daily, and one buyer kept it only because it was needed the next day. The Aidapt page for VR278B matches the 90 mm height and the 135 kg, which is rarer in this set than the star count.

Pros

  • 9 cm and 135 kg, matching the Aidapt page for VR278B
  • £14.99 and 4.6 from 1,080 reviews
  • Used at doors, a shower, a bed, a car and for a dog
  • Light, at 1.44 kg

Cons

  • Puddles form between the grips in rain
  • Supports split after about a year
  • Assembly is marked yes, with no parts list
  • One buyer kept it for the delivery speed, not the material

Best for: A door near 9 cm, where a widely reviewed plastic step at £14.99 matters more than a dry tread in heavy rain.

Less suitable: A step you will leave out for years without checking the supports, or a wide front door.

Common questions

Does the Aidapt step help with a high door?

The bullets say it reduces the height at outside doors, baths and showers for people with limited mobility. The listed height is 9 cm and the user weight is 135 kg.

Can it be used outdoors?

The title says indoor and outdoor. The bullets say the surface resists sun and water.

Is assembly required?

The specification says yes. The bullets do not say which parts you fit.

Janoon half step

Rank 3

Janoon half step

∼£21

Our view

Across 385 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Janoon half step is a 1.55 kg plastic platform listed at 10 cm high and 150 kg, with no assembly. Reviewers stand with both feet on it at a front door, a patio or a conservatory, and some use it to get into a car or to help an older dog after hip surgery. The first 50 UK reviews do not repeat a crack or a collapse. Width is the limit that does come up: one buyer says the “wider than others” line is overstated and the step should cover more of the doorway. The listing itself disagrees on depth, printing 15.5 cm on one line and 15.5 inches, about 39 cm, on another, so measure the unit that arrives. At £20.99 it sits in the middle of this set, and the page does not say whether rain can leave the tread.

Pros

  • 10 cm platform listed at 150 kg, with no assembly
  • 4.6 from 385 reviews, with room for both feet in the texts
  • 1.55 kg, used at doors, a car and after hip surgery
  • No repeated crack in the first 50 UK reviews

Cons

  • Depth is 15.5 cm on one line and about 39 cm on another
  • One reviewer wanted more width than the listing claims
  • Drainage is not stated

Best for: A front or back door near 10 cm, if you will measure the depth of the unit you receive.

Less suitable: A doorway that needs the full width, or a buy that depends on the printed depth.

The maximum weight on the listing is 150 kg.

SI half door step

Rank 4

SI half door step

∼£16

Our view

Across 274 amazon.co.uk reviews, the SI half door step is listed at 39.4 by 48.9 by 10.2 cm, and the maximum-height line of 4 inches matches that 10.2 cm. The bullets say 100 kg and the specification says 220 lb, about the same mass, and small holes are claimed so rain can pass. Reviewers call it sturdy at a back door, easy to clean, and light. Some use it instead of a small ramp so they can keep leaving the house, and one used it over a bath side after a hip operation. It gives slightly if you step where there is no support underneath. Width is the repeated limit: it is narrower than a doorway, and one reviewer wanted another 20–30 cm. At £15.95 the height is consistent, though the brand line says SI and the manufacturer line says AlayGreen.

Pros

  • About 10.2 cm, with 100 kg and 220 lb in agreement
  • 4.6 from 274 reviews at £15.95
  • Drain holes and a slip-resistant tread claimed
  • Used at a back door and after a hip operation

Cons

  • Narrower than a full doorway
  • Flexes if you step between the supports
  • Item weight is not stated
  • Brand SI and manufacturer AlayGreen on the same listing

Best for: A back door near 10 cm, where a rubber step with claimed drain holes is enough and the door is wider than the step.

Less suitable: A walking frame that needs a wide tread, or a foot placed on the unsupported edge.

Is it weatherproof?

The bullets say you can leave it outside and that small holes let rain through.

What user weight is listed?

The bullets say up to 100 kg. The specification says 220 pounds, which is about the same mass.

URFORESTIC wooden half step

Rank 5

URFORESTIC wooden half step

∼£60

Our view

Across 215 amazon.co.uk reviews, the URFORESTIC step is a wooden platform, 65 by 40 by 9 cm, weighing 3.84 kg and listed at 500 lb. It arrives built. Buyers who have no room for a full step use it at bifold or conservatory doors, and one household left it outside for a year. Several prefer the wood to plastic at that door. Grip is a separate job: anti-slip tape is in the box for you to fit, and on more than one unit those strips peeled after months and looked scruffy. The height is fixed at 9 cm, so a buyer who wanted it adjustable had no way to change it. At £59.96 it is one of the two dear steps in this set, and reviews call that price out. One review says the wood that arrived did not match every photo.

Pros

  • 65 × 40 × 9 cm wood, ready built, at 3.84 kg
  • 4.6 from 215 reviews
  • Drain holes claimed, and one buyer left it out for a year
  • Chosen over plastic where the conservatory door is on show

Cons

  • £59.96, called pricey in reviews
  • Grip tape peels, and you fit it yourself
  • Height fixed at 9 cm
  • Photos did not match the wood in one review

Best for: A door that needs about 9 cm and a wider wooden tread, if you will replace peeling tape.

Less suitable: A budget buy, or a rise that is not close to 9 cm.

No. The height is 9 cm and the step does not fold.

NRS Mobility Care half step

Rank 6

NRS Mobility Care half step

∼£80

Our view

Across 197 amazon.co.uk reviews, the NRS Mobility Care step, model P22964, is a 5.7 kg plastic platform, 73 by 42.5 by 11 cm, listed at 190 kg. You screw in four feet so it sits on uneven slabs, and reviewers say the rubber mat is what stops it slipping. It is almost as wide as a front door, which is the comparison households make after two smaller steps. The top holds water because those reviews say there are no drain holes, and one 75 kg user felt the top flex. At £79.99 it is the dearest listing here. One order did not receive disabled-person VAT relief through Amazon, and a foot in one parts bag arrived faulty. The feet level the step. Reviewers do not describe them as a way to raise the whole platform.

Pros

  • 73 cm long, close to the width of a front door
  • 190 kg listed once, 11 cm high, at 5.7 kg
  • Four adjustable feet for uneven slabs
  • A rubber mat that reviewers say stays put

Cons

  • £79.99, and one Amazon order did not get VAT relief
  • Reviews say there are no drain holes, so water sits on top
  • The top flexed under a 75 kg user in one review
  • A foot arrived faulty in one parts bag

Best for: A wide door on uneven slabs, if you will screw the feet in and accept standing water.

Less suitable: A light step you carry every day, or a tread that has to drain in the rain.

Can it be used indoors?

The listing asks and does not answer. The title says outdoor. Reviews use it at back doors and a kitchen-to-garage step.

Top Home Solutions half step

Rank 7

Top Home Solutions half step

∼£21

Our view

Across 151 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Top Home Solutions step is a rubber platform listed at 9.5 cm and 1.9 kg, with no assembly. Buyers use it at patio doors for arthritis, for a parent visiting, and for a dog after an operation, and some order a second. The non-slip top is the praise that repeats. Rain sits on that top, and cracking noises underfoot reduced confidence for more than one household. After time outside, a metal top plate separated from the plastic and had to be pushed back in. The listing prints 135 kg in the bullets and 199.58 kg on the specification, and the top is 39.5 cm square on one line and 49.5 by 39.5 cm in the bullets. At £20.99 you are paying a mid price for a step whose load and width the same page does not settle. One buyer found 9.5 cm too low and kept it anyway.

Pros

  • 9.5 cm rubber step, 1.9 kg, no assembly
  • 4.6 from 151 reviews, with the non-slip top praised
  • Used at patio doors, for a visiting parent and for a dog
  • Easy to move, and some buyers ordered a second

Cons

  • 135 kg in the bullets and 199.58 kg on the specification
  • Rain pools on the tread
  • A metal top plate separated after time outside
  • Cracking sounds underfoot

Best for: A patio door near 9.5 cm, if you ignore the higher capacity figure and check the top after rain.

Less suitable: Anyone who needs one agreed user weight, or a tread that stays dry in the rain.

The listing says assembly is not required.

Yelyee adjustable door step

Rank 8

Yelyee adjustable door step

∼£23

Our view

The Yelyee listing claims three heights from 9.4 cm to 15 cm, a 272 kg limit and a perforated rubber top, at £22.99. Only three amazon.co.uk ratings sit behind the 4.6, and the file holds two review texts. Those two praise the adjustable height, the grip and a sturdy feel, and they do not record a fault. The dimension line says 10 by 10 by 10 mm, which cannot be a platform you stand on, so the footprint is unknown until the box arrives. The specification says three steps while the bullets describe one platform with three heights. Glow is claimed after the tread is charged in light, and those two reviews do not confirm it. A 4.6 from three ratings is not a durability record for a step you will leave at a door.

Pros

  • Three claimed heights from 9.4 cm to 15 cm
  • 272 kg printed once, without a second kilogram figure
  • Perforated rubber top and underside pads claimed
  • The two review texts praise grip and sturdiness

Cons

  • Only three ratings and two review texts
  • Footprint printed as a 10 mm cube
  • The form says three steps; the bullets say one platform
  • Glow is not confirmed in the review texts

Best for: A measured rise between 9.4 and 15 cm, if you will check the real footprint on arrival.

Less suitable: Anyone buying on the star line, or a doorway where the standing size must be known before delivery.

Common questions

Can the Yelyee step change height?

The bullets say three heights from 9.4 cm to 15 cm. It does not fold.

What size is the platform?

The dimension line says 10 x 10 x 10 mm. That cannot describe a step you stand on, so the footprint is not known from this listing.

Does the tread glow?

The bullets say the surface glows after you expose it to light. Only two review texts are in the file, and they talk about grip and sturdiness.

Jobar folding step

Rank 9

Jobar folding step

∼£12

Our view

Across 577 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Jobar E7571 is a 1.1 kg folding step of plastic and aluminium at £11.50, sold for a doorway, a bath or a car. Reviewers fold it into a car door pocket and use it so a shorter person or an older parent can get into a car or an SUV, and some keep one in a motorhome. It tips if a foot is near the edge, and it is narrower than the fixed half steps, so some adults find it small. More than one review says it broke or shattered after a couple of uses. The form prints 3.94 cm and 15 kg. UK reviews say that height is not what arrived and describe adult use, so neither figure is a working limit. At this price it is a folding car step, not a doorstep you leave outside.

Pros

  • Folds flat into a car door pocket at £11.50
  • 4.3 from 577 reviews
  • Used for cars, a motorhome and a terrace door
  • Non-slip grips claimed, and the form says no assembly

Cons

  • Tips when weight is on the edge
  • Narrower than a fixed half step
  • Broke after a couple of uses in more than one review
  • The listed 3.94 cm and 15 kg contradict the reviews

Best for: A car, a camper or an occasional doorway, where folding flat matters more than a known door height.

Less suitable: A permanent outdoor half step, or any plan that uses the 15 kg line.

Common questions

Does the Jobar step fold?

Yes. The listing says it folds flat for storage, and reviews describe folding it into a car.

Can it be used in the shower?

The listing asks that and does not answer. It names a bathtub and a doorway, not a shower.

What is the maximum weight?

The form says 15 kg and 3.94 cm. UK reviews say the height figure is wrong and describe adult use, so do not rely on 15 kg.

E FAST outdoor step

Rank 10

E FAST outdoor step

∼£13

Our view

Across 466 amazon.co.uk reviews, the E FAST step is a 1.96 kg plastic stool listed at a maximum height of 12 inches, with no centimetre platform size and no user weight. Reviewers with crutches say that height suits a small drop at the front door, and some use two so a rollator can pass a garden door. The non-slip surface is praised, and the step is light enough to lift for cleaning. It is not firm for everyone: reviewers call it not heavy-duty and, in separate texts, not stable. Left outside, it sagged and cracked in the middle after about six weeks for one buyer, and another unit failed after a few days. The title says outdoor while the specification names a sink and a toilet. At £12.99 the missing weight is the reason not to treat the star rating as a load limit.

Pros

  • £12.99, with 4.3 from 466 reviews
  • A height reviewers with crutches used for a small door drop
  • Non-slip surface praised, and light enough to lift
  • Used as a pair so a rollator could pass a garden door

Cons

  • No user weight on the listing
  • Sagged and cracked after weeks outside
  • Not firm or stable for some buyers
  • Height given only as 12 inches

Best for: A small sheltered drop, if you can lift a light plastic step and you do not need a printed kilogram limit.

Less suitable: Leaving it out in the weather, or anyone who needs a stated user weight.

VIVAAS half step

Rank 11

VIVAAS half step

∼£17

Our view

The VIVAAS VS-HSTEP is listed at 40 by 50 by 10 cm and 150 kg, with drain holes claimed and no assembly, at £16.95. Only seven amazon.co.uk ratings support the 4.2, and four review texts are in the file. One buyer fitted it on a garden step for a registered-blind user. Another unit arrived with a large crack on the corner, and that reviewer said standing on it would cause a fall. A further text hopes it lasts the winter, which these four texts cannot show. The listing says the tread is slip resistant when wet and names a bathroom, and it does not answer whether a shower is suitable. Seven reviews are too few to treat the drain holes, or a winter outdoors, as demonstrated.

Pros

  • 40 × 50 × 10 cm and a single 150 kg figure
  • Drain holes and a wet-grip tread claimed
  • No assembly, at £16.95
  • One review used it on a garden step

Cons

  • 4.2 from only seven reviews
  • Arrived cracked, and that review called it dangerous
  • Winter durability is not shown
  • Shower use is asked and not answered

Best for: A 10 cm rise only if you inspect the step on the day it arrives.

Less suitable: A step you need through a winter, or a household that cannot return a cracked unit.

ADEPTNA outdoor half step

Rank 12

ADEPTNA outdoor half step

∼£15

Our view

Across 26 amazon.co.uk reviews, with 16 texts in the file, the ADEPTNA step is listed at 49 by 39 by 10 cm, with a rubber mat and drainage holes claimed, and no user weight. It has helped a parent on the steps and an older person from porch to hall, and some buyers find it light, easy to clean and stable. One review measured about 8.5 cm rather than the stated 10 cm. It is too light for outdoors in more than one account, and one buyer moved it indoors. Another arrived smashed. At £14.99 and 4.1 stars, the short file and the missing kilogram limit are why it sits below the better-reviewed plastic steps.

Pros

  • Bullets give 49 × 39 × 10 cm, a rubber mat and drain holes
  • £14.99, with no assembly
  • Helped a parent between porch and hall
  • Light and easy to clean for some buyers

Cons

  • No user weight on the listing
  • One buyer measured about 8.5 cm, not 10 cm
  • Too light to leave outside; one unit arrived smashed
  • 4.1 from 26 reviews

Best for: A sheltered porch, if you check the height with a tape and you do not need a stated load.

Less suitable: A step that must stay outside, or a household that needs a printed user weight.

Common questions

Can the ADEPTNA step be used indoors?

The bullets say indoor and outdoor use, including a patio or conservatory door.

Does it have a non-slip surface?

The bullets describe a weather-resistant rubber mat and drainage holes.

What is the listed height?

The bullets say 10 cm. One UK review says the step received was about 8.5 cm.

How we compared

Twelve doorsteps are compared on this page. Scores use each amazon.co.uk listing and the review notes already on file. There is no lab test. The highest score is the top pick. Best value is the strongest price against a high score for a stated job: one height, one user weight, and a large review file. A shop award, and a price from another shop, are not part of the score. VAT is not taken off the shelf price.

1

Amazon rating and review count

25%

A 4.6 from a handful of ratings does not outrank a 4.6 from several hundred. Thin files are called out even where the stored score is already high.

2

One height and one user weight

25%

The platform height and the user weight count only when the same listing does not print a second, conflicting figure.

3

Tread depth and width

20%

Depth and width are judged against the door and the walking aid. A footprint the same page contradicts is left blank.

4

Drainage and staying put

20%

A stated drain path, then a base that does not rock outdoors. Cracking, sagging and standing water are deductions.

5

Listing consistency

10%

Two capacities, a nonsense footprint, or a centimetre line that reviews reject pulls the score down. VAT is not taken off the shelf price.

Doorstep buying guide

Start with the rise you have, not with the star rating. A half step only helps if it is close to half that rise, the tread is deep enough for the way you walk, and the kilogram line is one figure the listing does not contradict. The twelve steps below are freestanding platforms from amazon.co.uk. They are not a lab test, and they are not a wheelchair ramp. If the door also needs securing, that is a separate job from the height of the step.

What is a doorstep half step?

A doorstep half step is a low freestanding platform, usually about 9–11 cm high, that splits one high rise at a door into two smaller rises. People buy one when they still walk, including after a hip or knee operation, when they use a stick, or when they are helping an older relative or a dog. It is not a wheelchair ramp.

Best for

  • People who walk but cannot manage one high door rise
  • Carers, and households helping an older dog over a step

Not ideal for

  • Wheelchair users, who need a ramp or a level threshold
  • A public footway, where the step could trip other people

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Buying on the word outdoor

A weatherproof line is not a drain path. Rain sits on the NRS top, and Aidapt reviews describe puddles between the grips. Read the drainage note before you leave it out.

  2. 2

    Trusting two size lines

If centimetres and inches on the same page do not agree, measure the unit that arrives. Janoon, Aukimo, Yelyee and Jobar are the listings where a printed size is not safe to shop from.

  3. 3

Taking VAT off the shelf price

HMRC Notice 701/7 zero-rates goods only when they were designed solely for disabled people and supplied to an eligible person. These amazon.co.uk prices stay as shown. One NRS order did not get VAT relief through Amazon.

What to weigh up

Rise, depth and one user weight

High

Measure the rise in millimetres and pick a platform close to half of it. Living Made Easy says the two rises should be equal. A 10 cm step in front of a 12 cm threshold does little and can become a trip lip. Heights stated once in this set include 9 cm on the Aidapt and the wooden step, 9.5 cm on Top Home Solutions, 10 cm on Janoon, VIVAAS and the ADEPTNA bullets, 10.2 cm on SI, and 11 cm on NRS. Aukimo is listed up to 5 inches, about 12.7 cm, across three positions. Yelyee claims 9.4–15 cm.

Drainage and a base that stays put

High

A title that says outdoor is not a drain, and weatherproof is not a dry tread. On a slope, adjustable feet matter more than a sun-resistant claim. NRS reviews describe four feet screwed in so the step sits on uneven slabs, and they also say there are no drain holes, so rain sits on the mat. Aidapt bullets say the surface resists sun and water. Reviews then split: water passed through for some buyers and puddled between the grips for others.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

You walk, but one rise is too high

You still step, with or without a stick, and you need the door rise split in two. If you cannot lock a single height yet, the Aukimo GlowStep lets you try three positions. Do not treat either of its printed weights as settled.

Our recommendation

View offer

The door is wide or the slabs are uneven

You need a tread closer to the width of the door, and the ground is not flat. The NRS step is 73 cm long, listed at 190 kg and 11 cm, with four feet you screw in. Reviews say water sits on the top.

A carer, or an older dog, on a budget

You want a light plastic step near 9 cm and a file with more than a thousand reviews. The Aidapt VR278B is about £14.99, at 1.44 kg, with 135 kg stated once. Check the supports if it will live outside.

Common questions about doorsteps

Which doorstep is the top pick in 2026?
The top pick is the Aukimo GlowStep, at about £29.99. It has the highest score in this set: 4.7 from 277 amazon.co.uk reviews, and reviewers change three heights without tools. The same listing prints 600 lb and 250 kg, so neither figure is a load you can quote, and the footprint lines disagree. Use it when you need to try more than one height. It does not make the doorway compliant with Approved Document M.
How much does a doorstep cost on amazon.co.uk?
On these amazon.co.uk listings, shelf prices run from about £11.50 to about £79.99. The Jobar folder is about £11.50 and the Aidapt half step, the best value here, is about £14.99. Mid-price steps, including Janoon and the Aukimo GlowStep, sit about £20.99 to £29.99. The wooden URFORESTIC step is about £59.96 and the wide NRS step is about £79.99. Most of this set is under £30. Do not take VAT off these shelf prices.
What should I check before I buy a doorstep?
Measure the existing rise in millimetres and choose a platform close to half of it, so the two rises match. Then match depth to the walking aid: the Independent Living Centre uses about 45 cm with a stick, about 60 cm for a frame, and about 90 cm for a four-wheeled walker. Keep a user weight only when the same listing prints one figure. Outdoors, look for a drain path. Star ratings do not replace width or kilograms.
Is a doorstep suitable if I use a wheelchair?
No. A doorstep half step is for someone who still walks and needs one high rise split into two. If you use a wheelchair, start with a threshold ramp or a level threshold, not a platform you have to step onto. Approved Document M describes an accessible threshold as level or, if it is raised, not more than 15 mm. A portable half step does not make that doorway compliant, and it is not scored here as a ramp.
Can I leave a doorstep outside in the rain?
Only when the listing states a way for water to leave the tread, and even then a weatherproof claim is not a dry tread. NRS reviews say water sits on the top because there are no drain holes. Aidapt reviews split between water passing through and puddles between the grips. One E FAST step sagged and cracked after weeks outside. On a slope, the NRS step uses four adjustable feet on uneven slabs.
Do I pay less VAT because a doorstep is for a disability?
Not automatically. HMRC Notice 701/7 zero-rates goods only if they were designed solely for disabled people and supplied to an eligible person. Do not take 20 percent off these amazon.co.uk shelf prices. One NRS order through Amazon did not receive disabled-person VAT relief. A council assessment is free, and the NHS says adaptations under £1,000 are often paid by the council. Faulty goods are a different right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Does a half step meet UK stair rules, or lock the door?
A half step does not lock the door. If you need a stronger lock, a bolt or a bar at that entrance, use the door security comparison. Approved Document K sets a private stair in England at a rise of 150–220 mm and a going of 220–300 mm. It covers stairs in the building. A portable platform is not that stair. If the entrance is being rebuilt, or the drop is more than one ordinary house step, ask a professional.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Aukimo GlowStep. It has the highest score, 4.7 from 277 reviews, and three heights changed without tools, at about £29.99. The listing still prints two different weights, so quote neither. The best value is the Aidapt VR278B, at about £14.99, with 4.6 from 1,080 reviews and one 9 cm and 135 kg line. Puddles and split supports keep it off the top score. If you use a wheelchair, leave this category.
