The best sandpaper rolls, compared.

Top pick: PMIQSA 6-roll sandpaper set Best value: ProDec yellow 80 grit roll – Lowest shelf price in the 115 mm band, £4.60, with 4.6 from 281 reviews. UK notes report cracking when folded and a shorter life than 3M or Indasa for some buyers. Updated October 2026.

Peter F.Editor

A sandpaper roll is a coated abrasive you cut to length for a sanding block, a sheet sander, or a narrow job such as a pipe or a carving. On amazon.co.uk the useful split is width, grit and backing. A peel-and-stick roll is 70 mm, and cloth for curves is 25 mm. Quality shows up as a grit that matches the printed number, a backing that survives folding or cutting, and a title whose width, length and grit list agree. None of these files is a wear test. The [sandpaper roll buying guide](/hub/sanders/sandpaper-roll/sub/sandpaper-roll-buying-guide) sets the checks in order. It is not a hook-and-loop disc, and a cut piece is not an angle-grinder disc. BS EN 13743:2017 covers flap discs and fibre discs, not a roll.

The best sandpaper rolls in detail

PMIQSA 6-roll sandpaper set

Rank 1

PMIQSA 6-roll sandpaper set

∼£20

Our view

PMIQSA WF-93X5M-MIX-6 is a six-roll set at 93 mm by 5 m, grits 60 through 400, for £19.99. The star line reads 4.9 from 24 reviews. The file holds two short UK praise lines and no UK criticism. Non-UK praise is not treated as UK opinion. The detail table length of 1500 cm conflicts with the 5 m title, and textile fibre appears in bullets without a clean backing field. Wet use is claimed in the title or a bullet only. The evidence base is thinner than WORKPRO’s 1,011 ratings. A 4.9 from 24 does not outrank a 4.6 from several hundred.

Pros

  • Six grits to 400 on 93 mm by 5 m rolls
  • 4.9 from 24 reviews
  • Includes 400 grit, finer than the five-roll paper sets
  • Two short UK praise lines mention material on the roll

Cons

  • Only 24 reviews, and two UK texts in the file
  • A 1500 cm detail line conflicts with the 5 m title
  • Highest price among the 93 mm mixed sets

Best for: Six grits including 400, if you confirm length and labels on the live listing.

Less suitable: Anyone who wants a large UK review file, or one agreed length figure.

Common questions

Does 4.9 from 24 beat 4.6 from 1,011?

No. A thin file with a high average does not outrank a 4.6 from several hundred. WORKPRO has 1,011 reviews at 4.6.

Is the roll 5 m or 1500 cm?

The title says 5 m. A detail line says 1500 cm, which is 15 m. Those figures do not agree. The table keeps the title length and marks the clash.

What grits are titled?

60, 80, 120, 180, 240 and 400, at 93 mm. Confirm the labels on the live page before you rely on 400 being in the box.

WORKPRO 4-roll sandpaper set

Rank 2

WORKPRO 4-roll sandpaper set

∼£12

Our view

WORKPRO’s W002354 set is four aluminium oxide paper rolls at 93 mm by 5 m, grits 60, 120, 180 and 240, for £12.07 with 4.6 from 1,011 reviews. UK buyers mention dining tables before varnish, DeWalt and belt sanders, and cutting lengths to fit electric tools, though several call the width a little narrow. A recurring complaint is backing that splits when folded into clip sanders rather than creased flat. One 2024 text felt the rolls short for the money, and a 2022 note wanted more 60 grit in the pack. The structured grit field prints 240 only, while the pack line lists all four grades. It is the mixed-grit option when your pad is near 93 mm. It is the wrong set for a full 115 mm trade sander without trimming.

Pros

  • Four grits, 60 to 240, on 93 mm by 5 m rolls
  • £12.07 with 4.6 from 1,011 reviews
  • Largest review file in this set
  • UK notes cover furniture varnish and electric sanders

Cons

  • UK reviews report splits when paper is folded into clamps
  • Width described as narrow versus a standard sheet
  • Detail grit field stores 240, not the full pack list

Best for: DIY furniture and decorating with a sander near 93 mm and a grit ladder in one box.

Less suitable: A 115 mm machine shoe, unless you accept trim, or a job that needs one grit at the lowest metre price.

Common questions

Which grits are in the WORKPRO box?

The pack line lists 60, 120, 180 and 240, each 93 mm by 5 m. The detail grit field stores 240 only. Prefer the pack line, and check the live page.

Will 93 mm fit a 115 mm sheet sander?

Rodo states 115 mm for ProDec machine-sander rolls. 93 mm is narrower. UK notes call this set a little narrow versus the sheet people expected.

What fails in the reviews?

Backing splits when the paper is folded into clip clamps. Creasing flat, rather than a sharp fold, is the pattern those notes describe.

ProDec green 120 grit roll

Rank 3

ProDec green 120 grit roll

Our view

ProDec PAALV120 is the fine green roll at 120 grit, 115 mm by 5 m, £7.16, with 4.6 from 866 reviews. UK texts repeat filler on walls and car-body filler, cut lengths for rectangular sanders, and repeat purchases across grits. Several buyers say it lasts longer than cheap sheets, while others accept that dearer papers outlast it. A March 2025 note blames green colour transfer on wood crafts. The listing bullet says 120 grit is not for stripping paint or varnish, and the detail table clashes with the title on size and prints “Coarse” in one grit-type field. Choose it when you are smoothing filler before a first coat on a full-width pad. Skip it for paint stripping.

Pros

  • 120 grit, 5 m by 115 mm
  • 4.6 from 866 reviews, the largest ProDec file here
  • UK notes emphasise filler and pre-paint walls
  • Named for finishing, not for stripping

Cons

  • Size and grit-type fields conflict with the 5 m fine-grade title
  • Green stain on wood reported once
  • Highest single-roll price in the ProDec 115 mm group

Best for: Final sanding after filler on skirting, walls or joinery with a 115 mm pad.

Less suitable: Stripping paint or varnish, or crafts where green dye transfer matters.

Common questions

Will 120 grit strip paint?

The listing bullet says 120 grit is for final sanding before a first coat and is not suitable for removing paint or varnish. Use 60 for rough coatings.

Do the listing fields agree?

No. Size fields conflict with the 5 m title, and one grit-type field prints Coarse against a fine-grade title. The table uses the title: 115 mm, 5 m, 120.

What about the green colour?

One UK note reports green colour transfer on wood crafts. That is one report, not a measured dye test.

SHALL 5-roll sandpaper set

Rank 4

SHALL 5-roll sandpaper set

∼£14

Our view

SHALL SH123001EU packs five aluminium oxide paper rolls at 93 mm by 5 m, grits 60 through 240, for £13.89 with 4.6 from 824 reviews. UK notes call the five grades handy for DIY banisters and car prep before paint, and some say the paper does not break up in use. Criticism is sharper than on the WORKPRO file: faster wear in September 2026 texts, cracks around wooden blocks, paper that fell apart quickly for one buyer, and a strong chemical smell when opening the box in October 2024. A bullet once printed 9.3 mm width while the title says 9.3 cm, and the detail grit field stores 5, the roll count, not a grit number. It is a mixed set if WORKPRO is out of stock and you accept occasional backing fragility.

Pros

  • Five grits from 60 to 240 on 93 mm by 5 m rolls
  • £13.89 with 4.6 from 824 reviews
  • UK notes mention banisters and car prep
  • Some UK buyers say the paper stayed intact

Cons

  • UK texts report faster wear, cracks and tears
  • A strong smell on opening, reported once
  • A bullet once printed 9.3 mm while the title says 9.3 cm

Best for: Home DIY with a sander near 93 mm when you want five grades in one purchase.

Less suitable: Long skirting runs on 115 mm pads, or anyone sensitive to odour from a new pack.

Common questions

Is the width 9.3 mm or 93 mm?

The title says 9.3 cm, which is 93 mm, by 5 m. A bullet once printed 9.3 mm. Use 93 mm unless the live title has changed.

What does the grit field store?

The detail grit field stores 5, which matches the roll count, not a grit. The title lists grits from 60 through 240.

How does wear compare in UK notes?

Some buyers say the paper stays intact. Others, including September 2026 texts, report faster wear, cracks and tears. One note mentions a strong smell on opening.

ProDec green 80 grit roll

Rank 5

ProDec green 80 grit roll

Our view

The ProDec green PAALV80 roll lists 80 grit at 115 mm by 5 m for £6.49, with 4.6 from 502 reviews. UK buyers restored neglected garden benches, squared hardwood, and cut lengths for several sanders. Several notes call the backing thicker than cheap sheet packs. One buyer shakes the strip clean when it clogs rather than swapping immediately. UK notes include a June 2026 text that felt the cut closer to 40 grit than the printed 80, and a May 2025 note about ripping almost immediately on an orbital sander. Another comment expected 10 m against the 5 m title. Compared with the yellow 80 at £4.60, this line costs more and picks up fewer crack-when-folded reports in the UK sample. It is the top pick for one trade-width medium grade before paint. It is the wrong row if your sander shoe is only 93 mm wide.

Pros

  • 80 grit, 5 m by 115 mm, at £6.49
  • 4.6 from 502 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • UK notes praise thick backing and cut-to-size use
  • Listing names varnish removal among medium-grade uses

Cons

  • One UK buyer felt the cut coarser than the printed 80
  • Ripping on an orbital sander in one UK text
  • Costs more than the yellow 80

Best for: Varnish and bare wood prep on a 115 mm sheet or block sander before painting.

Less suitable: A 93 mm-only pad, or work where you need the lowest pence per metre.

Common questions

What width and grit does the green 80 list?

The title is 115 mm wide and 5 m, grit 80. One UK comment expected 10 m. Use the title length unless the live page has changed.

Can you use this roll wet?

Wet use is not stated. Do not treat it as waterproof paper. Aluminium oxide on these rolls is not silicon carbide wet-and-dry.

What do UK reviews repeat?

Thick backing and cut-to-size use on benches and hardwood. One text felt the grit coarser than 80. One reported ripping on an orbital sander.

ProDec green 60 grit roll

Rank 6

ProDec green 60 grit roll

Our view

ProDec PAALV60 is the green 60 grit roll at 115 mm by 5 m, £5.09, rated 4.6 from 302 reviews. UK notes point to paint, plaster, filler, sticking doors, and rust on metal garden furniture, used by hand or on an electric sander. One buyer compared the price with a high-street chain for the same item. Clogging and abrasive that seemed to dull quickly appear in a May 2024 text, despite anti-clog wording that buyer remembered. Another UK comment calls the roll 10 m while the title stays at 5 m. Item dimensions in the detail table also disagree with the 5 m title. It suits rough timber and old coatings before a finer grade. Skip it if you only need finish sanding before paint.

Pros

  • 60 grit, 5 m by 115 mm, at £5.09
  • 4.6 from 302 reviews
  • UK notes mention paint, filler and rust
  • Same ProDec paper family as the other trade rolls

Cons

  • One UK buyer reported clogging and fast dulling
  • A comment calls the roll 10 m while the title says 5 m
  • Not the grade for final pre-paint smoothing

Best for: Rough wood, old paint removal and metal rust on a 115 mm pad or block.

Less suitable: Final 120 grit prep before a first coat, or a job that needs a confirmed 10 m length.

Common questions

Is this roll 5 m or 10 m?

The title says 5 m by 115 mm. One UK comment says 10 m, and detail dimensions disagree with the title. The table keeps the title length.

What is 60 grit for, on ProDec’s own line?

Rough timber and old coatings. It is not the grade for a final smooth before the first coat. That step is the 120 grit roll.

Is wet use stated?

No. Do not assume waterproof paper.

ProDec yellow 80 grit roll

Rank 7

ProDec yellow 80 grit roll

Our view

The ProDec yellow PACNV80 roll is a single 80 grit strip at 115 mm by 5 m, listed at £4.60 with 4.6 from 281 reviews. UK buyers cut lengths for electric and detail sanders and report taking varnish back on garden furniture and barn doors. The same note that praised the finish also says the paper cracks when you bend it to fit a sheet sander clamp. Other UK texts describe clogging on outdoor stain and softwood, and using about three times as much as 3M when keying old paint. Comparisons to Indasa mention a shorter life for the price. Wet use is not stated. At this shelf price it is the best value when you want one 115 mm medium grade and you crease carefully rather than folding hard into clips.

Pros

  • £4.60 for 5 m by 115 mm, grit 80
  • Lowest single-roll price in this set
  • 4.6 from 281 reviews
  • UK notes cover varnish, filler and cut-to-size work

Cons

  • UK reviews report cracking when folded into sheet-sander clips
  • Clogging on stain and softwood in UK notes
  • Shorter life than 3M or Indasa for some buyers

Best for: The cheapest 115 mm 80 grit roll, if you cut flat lengths rather than sharp folds.

Less suitable: Jobs where you fold paper into clamps every time, or you expect 3M-grade life at this price.

Common questions

Why is the yellow 80 the best value?

It is the lowest 115 mm price in this set, £4.60, with 4.6 from 281 reviews. The green 80 costs £6.49 and has fewer fold-crack reports.

Does the paper crack?

UK reviews report cracking when the paper is bent into sheet-sander clips. Cut flat lengths if that is the failure you want to avoid.

Is wet use stated?

No. Wet use is not on this listing. Do not assume waterproof paper.

Shineboc 60 grit 10 m roll

Rank 8

Shineboc 60 grit 10 m roll

∼£13

Our view

Shineboc lists a single 60 grit roll at 93 mm by 10 m for £12.99, with 4.5 from 129 reviews. UK buyers sanded oak wardrobes and external window frames and tore off lengths as needed. A September 2025 note compared wear with yellow paper the buyer already had. Clogging appears in a June 2024 text. The title is one 60 grit roll, while bullets list many grades and the detail table mentions coarse macrograin. Prefer the title. Fibre backing and stated wet use are listing claims, not a lab certificate, and “wet and dry” on aluminium oxide is not silicon carbide paper. It suits a long single coarse strip when 10 m at 93 mm is what you want.

Pros

  • 10 m at 93 mm, one 60 grit roll
  • 4.5 from 129 reviews
  • UK notes on window frames and furniture
  • Wet use is stated on the listing

Cons

  • Bullets list extra grades against a single-grit title
  • Clogging reported in one UK text
  • 93 mm, not a 115 mm trade width

Best for: Long runs of coarse prep on frames or furniture when 93 mm fits the block.

Less suitable: A mixed grit box, or a listing with one agreed grit story.

Common questions

Is this one grit or a set?

The title is one 60 grit roll, 93 mm by 10 m. Bullets list extra grades. Prefer the title, and check the box.

Does stated wet use mean silicon carbide?

No. The grain field is aluminium oxide. Use water only where the listing says so. It is not a certified wet-and-dry paper.

What width is it?

93 mm, not 115 mm. It will not fill a trade sheet-sander shoe without a gap.

KONGMING 5-roll cloth set

Rank 9

KONGMING 5-roll cloth set

∼£17

Our view

KONGMING’s five-roll set is cloth-backed aluminium oxide at 93 mm by 5 m, grits 40, 80, 120, 180 and 240, for £16.99 with 4.4 from 129 reviews. UK notes mention wood turning, stairs still with grit left on the rolls, and cut lengths on a sheet sander described as stronger than loose sheets. Wet-and-dry wording appears in the title. Treat that as listing copy, not silicon carbide paper. One May 2025 buyer found it poor for motorcycle body filler compared with discs they already used, while saying it would probably be fine on wood. The detail grit field stores 40 only. Cloth flex helps on curved work and costs more than the paper mixed sets.

Pros

  • Five cloth rolls, 40 to 240, at 93 mm by 5 m
  • UK notes on turning, stairs and cut lengths
  • 4.4 from 129 reviews
  • Starts at 40 grit, coarser than most paper sets here

Cons

  • One UK note found it poor for motorcycle body filler
  • £16.99, above the WORKPRO and SHALL paper sets
  • Wet wording is not silicon carbide paper

Best for: Wood turning and stair sanding on a 93 mm pad when cloth flex matters.

Less suitable: Filler-heavy auto panels if disc abrasives are your benchmark, or a strict silicon carbide wet job.

Does wet and dry mean silicon carbide?

No. The grain is aluminium oxide. The wet line is listing wording, not a waterproof-paper certificate. Use water only where the listing says so.

What did the filler review say?

One May 2025 buyer found it poor for motorcycle body filler compared with discs they already used, and thought it would probably be fine on wood.

GZKTY 240 grit PSA roll

Rank 10

GZKTY 240 grit PSA roll

∼£15

Our view

GZKTY’s LX-70mm-240 is a peel-and-stick cloth roll at 70 mm by 7.8 m, 240 grit only, listed at £14.99 with 4.4 from 13 reviews. The UK praise in the file is brief. A French review says the roll is not very tough, which is weak evidence for a UK buyer and is the durability criticism captured. The colour field mentions a blue ceramic coating while materials say aluminium oxide, so ceramic grain is not confirmed. PSA backing suits profiles and blocks where you want adhesive rather than clips, not a full sheet-sander wrap. Thirteen ratings sit behind the ProDec and WORKPRO files.

Pros

  • 240 grit peel-and-stick cloth, 70 mm by 7.8 m
  • Single grit, so the title is not a mixed ladder
  • 4.4 from 13 reviews
  • Useful where you want adhesive rather than clips

Cons

  • Only 13 reviews
  • Ceramic and aluminium oxide both appear in the fields
  • A non-UK note says the roll did not feel very tough

Best for: Sticky-backed 240 grit strips on trim when 70 mm matches the job.

Less suitable: Wide 115 mm machine sanding, or anyone who wants hundreds of UK durability comments.

Common questions

What size is the PSA roll?

Is the grain ceramic?

A colour field mentions a blue ceramic coating. The materials field says aluminium oxide. Both are in the file, so ceramic is not confirmed.

How many reviews are there?

4.4 from 13 amazon.co.uk reviews on this capture. That is a thin file next to the ProDec hundreds.

Junchamp 6-roll emery cloth

Rank 11

Junchamp 6-roll emery cloth

∼£18

Our view

Junchamp’s six-roll emery cloth kit is 25 mm wide, 6 m per roll, grits 80, 150, 240, 320, 400 and 600, for £17.99 with 4.4 from six reviews. Buyers praise a dispenser for keeping mixed grits ready, and 25 mm strips on pipes and dowels. Threading roll ends through the dispenser slots is called fiddly in two notes. One text counts five mini rolls against six in the title. Wet use is stated. Narrow width is a limit on doors, not a surprise. Six ratings cannot carry the same weight as the ProDec files. Choose it when you turn spindles or sand pipe and want grits to 600. The Flintronic row is the lower-priced 25 mm alternative, with a weaker average and more texts.

Pros

  • Six grits to 600 on 25 mm by 6 m cloth
  • UK notes on pipes, dowels and spindles
  • A dispenser is praised for keeping grades apart
  • Wet use is stated

Cons

  • Only six reviews
  • Dispenser threading described as fiddly
  • One UK text counts five rolls against six in the title

Best for: Lathe work and pipe prep when you need narrow cloth up to 600 grit.

Less suitable: Flat 115 mm decorating, or a large review file before spending £17.99.

UK reviews praise a dispenser and also call the threading fiddly. The bullets themselves are thin on that point. The review file is six.

Our view

The Flintronic six-roll box ships 25 mm cloth strips at 6 m each, grits 80 through 600, for £12.89. The amazon.co.uk line is 3.9 from 14 reviews, the weakest average in this set. UK praise centres on the box, six metres per grit, and wet use on metal, plastics and 3D-print corners where a wide sheet would be awkward. The same September 2026 note warns the cloth is wrong for flattening large timber and that you need scissors, because tearing leaves a fray. A July 2026 text criticises the dispenser once rolls are removed. Wet use is stated, and that is not silicon carbide waterproof paper. Fourteen reviews is a thin row next to the ProDec hundreds.

Pros

  • Six grits up to 600 on 25 mm by 6 m cloth
  • £12.89, below the other narrow cloth box
  • UK notes on wet use for metal, plastics and print edges
  • A dispenser box is part of the listing story

Cons

  • 3.9 from 14 reviews, the lowest average here
  • Dispenser criticised once the rolls are out of the box
  • Frays if torn, and the wrong width for flat doors

Best for: Pipes, small metal parts and detail edges where 25 mm cloth and high grits help.

Less suitable: Full-width decorating on doors and skirting, or a buyer who needs hundreds of reviews.

Common questions

Why is the average 3.9?

amazon.co.uk shows 3.9 from 14 reviews, the lowest average in this set. Praise covers wet metal and tight edges. Criticism covers the dispenser and fraying if you tear the cloth.

Should you tear or cut it?

A September 2026 note says you need scissors for a clean cut, because tearing leaves a fray. It is also the wrong width for flattening a large timber panel.

Is wet use silicon carbide?

Wet use is stated. The grain is still aluminium oxide. That is not a silicon carbide waterproof paper.

How we compared

Twelve amazon.co.uk sandpaper-roll listings were scored for this page. Weights sum to 100. ISO 6344 P-grades are not printed on these rolls. There was no lab wear test. A star row is the amazon.co.uk figure on 19 October 2026. “Lasts up to 10 times longer” is maker wording, not a result in this set.

1

Amazon evidence

30%

Star rating and review count. A 4.6 from several hundred or more scores above a 4.4 from under 150, and far above a 3.9 from fourteen. A 4.9 from twenty-four cannot outrank a 4.6 from eight hundred on stars alone.

2

Listing agreement

30%

Title width, length and grit list match the comparison row. Deductions for dimension lines that disagree with a 5 m title, grit fields that store a roll count, bullets that list extra grades, and ceramic versus aluminium oxide clashes.

3

Review outcome

25%

UK notes about cutting to a sheet sander, varnish prep, clogging, backing cracks when folded, and narrow width versus a pad. Clogging, ripping on an orbital, faster wear than 3M or Indasa, and a 3.9 average are deductions. Notes come from the listing file, not a workshop test.

Shelf price in GBP against width and metres. The lowest single-grit 115 mm price wins this block when the review count is in the hundreds. Mixed sets are compared at the same width, not against a £4.60 trade roll on price alone.

Sandpaper roll buying guide

Choose width first, then one grit or a ladder, then paper, cloth or peel-and-stick. Price comes last, and only inside one width. None of these rolls was worn down in a lab for this page. A star row and a “10 times longer” line stay what the listing and the reviews actually say.

What is a sandpaper roll?

A sandpaper roll is a coated abrasive you cut to length. You use it on a sanding block, a sheet sander, or a narrow job such as a pipe or a carving. It is not a hook-and-loop disc, and a cut piece is not an angle-grinder disc. BS EN 13743:2017 covers flap discs and fibre discs, not a roll. Width is the first split. Rodo states 115 mm for ProDec machine-sander rolls.

Best for

  • Decorating with one 115 mm grit you can cut for a sheet sander
  • A 93 mm mixed box when you will not use every grade

Not ideal for

  • A 115 mm shoe if the only roll in the basket is 25 mm cloth
  • Dry sanding of flaking paint that may contain lead

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Treating 93 mm and 115 mm as the same

A 93 mm roll looks narrow on a 115 mm sheet-sander shoe. UK notes on the WORKPRO set say so. Rodo states 115 mm for the ProDec machine rolls.

  2. 2

Reading one grit field as the whole set

WORKPRO’s detail field stores 240 while the pack lists four grades. SHALL’s grit field stores 5, the roll count. Shineboc’s bullets add grades the title does not.

  3. 3

    Dry-sanding old paint

Lead pigments were used into the early 1980s. Do not dry-sand that paint. A “10 times longer” line is maker copy, and a cut roll is not a grinding disc.

What to weigh up

Width and grit

High

Match the roll to the pad, including clamps. 115 mm is the ProDec trade width. About 93 mm is the mixed-set width in this scrape. 70 mm is the peel-and-stick roll. 25 mm is for curves, pipes and spindles, not doors. Skipping that check is how a cheap roll becomes the wrong roll. Then pick one grade or a ladder. 60 cuts old coatings and rough timber. 80 is the medium step for varnish and bare wood before paint.

Backing, water and the description

High

Paper folds into a decorator’s routine and can still crack in a clamp, which is the yellow 80 and WORKPRO pattern in the UK notes. Cloth flexes on a curve. Peel-and-stick is a different fixing. Grain in this set is aluminium oxide unless a field says otherwise, and the GZKTY page says both oxide and a ceramic coating. Use water only where the listing says so. The Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 11, is the frame when width, length or grit does not match the description.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

One 115 mm grit for decorating

You cut lengths for a sheet sander and you want one grade. The ProDec green 80 is the top pick at £6.49, with 4.6 from 502 reviews. UK notes praise a thick backing. One text felt the cut coarser than 80, and one reported ripping on an orbital.

A 93 mm grit ladder

You will not use every grade, and your pad is nearer 93 mm than 115 mm. The WORKPRO four-roll set is £12.07 with 4.6 from 1,011 reviews, the largest file here. UK notes report splits when the paper is folded into clamps.

Narrow cloth for curves

You need 25 mm cloth, not a door roll. The Flintronic six-roll box is £12.89 with grits to 600 and wet use stated. The average is 3.9 from 14 reviews, and tearing frays the edge.

Common questions about sandpaper rolls

Which sandpaper roll is the top pick for 2026?
The top pick is the ProDec green 80 grit roll, 5 m by 115 mm, at £6.49. amazon.co.uk shows 4.6 from 502 reviews. UK notes praise a thick backing and cut-to-size use on benches and hardwood. One text felt the cut closer to 40 grit than the printed 80, and one reported ripping on an orbital sander. It is one trade-width grade for varnish and bare wood before paint. It is the wrong roll if the shoe is only 93 mm.
How much does a sandpaper roll cost on amazon.co.uk?
In this 19 October 2026 scrape, one ProDec 5 m by 115 mm roll is £4.60 (yellow 80), £5.09 (green 60), £6.49 (green 80) or £7.16 (green 120). Mixed sets and other formats sit higher: WORKPRO £12.07, Flintronic £12.89, Shineboc £12.99, SHALL £13.89, GZKTY £14.99, KONGMING £16.99, Junchamp £17.99 and PMIQSA £19.99. Compare a price per metre only at the same width. These are shelf prices for these ASINs, not a market average.
What should I check before I buy a sandpaper roll?
Check width against the pad, including the clamps. 115 mm, 93 mm, 70 mm and 25 mm are different jobs. Then choose one grit or a ladder. ProDec’s own lines put 60 on rough timber and old coatings, 80 on varnish and bare wood before paint, and 120 before a first coat, not for stripping. Then read the backing: paper, cloth, or peel-and-stick. Only then compare price, and only inside one width. A title that disagrees with its own bullets is a reason to pause.
Will a 93 mm roll fit a 115 mm sheet sander?
Not as a full-width sheet. Rodo states 115 mm for ProDec machine-sander rolls. The mixed sets here are titled at about 93 mm, and UK notes on the WORKPRO set call that width narrow versus the sheet people expected. You can cut a 115 mm roll down. You cannot stretch 93 mm to fill a 115 mm shoe. The machine is a separate page: the sheet sander comparison. A cut piece of roll is not an angle-grinder disc.
Is paper or cloth the right backing?
Paper is the decorating default in this set. ProDec calls it crack-resistant, and some UK reviews still report splits when it is folded into clamps. Cloth is the flexible option for curves, pipes and turning. The 25 mm boxes are cloth. Peel-and-stick is a separate 70 mm, 240 grit roll. “Wet and dry” on aluminium oxide is not silicon carbide waterproof paper. Use water only where the listing says so. Paper is the decorating default here. Cloth is the flexible option for curves.
Are these rolls a P-grade abrasive?
No P-grade is printed on these listings. ISO 6344-2 and 6344-3 define P-grades for aluminium oxide and silicon carbide. A bare number such as 80 or 120 is the printed grit, not a certificate. Do not treat a 4.9 from 24 reviews as a better abrasive than a 4.6 from several hundred. “Lasts up to 10 times longer” is maker copy on the ProDec line, not a wear test in this set.
Can I dry-sand old paint with a roll?
Do not dry-sand paint that may contain lead. HSE notes that lead pigments were used into the early 1980s. Key sound paint with wet paper, and do not treat a dry aluminium oxide roll as that wet paper unless the listing says water is allowed. Stop if the coating might be asbestos, if daily sanding has no extraction, or if the job actually needs a speed-marked grinding disc. A cut roll is not a flap disc under BS EN 13743.
What dust controls apply when the roll is on a powered sander?
HSE wood-dust limits are 3 mg/m³ for hardwood and 5 mg/m³ for softwood as an eight-hour average. Mixtures use 3 mg/m³ for all the wood dust present. Powered sanding needs Class M or H extraction and often FFP3, which is the example at assigned protection factor 20. A roll does not replace that. The Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 11, is the frame when grit, width or length does not match the description.

Our verdict

The top pick is the ProDec green 80 grit roll, 5 m by 115 mm, at £6.49, with 4.6 from 502 reviews. UK notes praise a thick backing and cut-to-size use. One text felt the grit coarser than 80, and one reported ripping on an orbital. The best value is the ProDec yellow 80 at £4.60, with 4.6 from 281 reviews. UK notes report cracking when the paper is folded, and a shorter life than 3M or Indasa for some buyers. A 4.9 from 24 reviews does not outrank the longer files.
