Pipe belt sander comparison 2026

The best pipe belt sanders, compared.

Top pick: QUTBAG pipe tube polisher Best value: Aidelife AG45 tube belt attachment – Lowest price here for a stated 760 × 40 mm head, with 3.9 from 78 ratings. Updated October 2026.

Peter F.Editor

A pipe belt sander wraps an abrasive belt around round tube so you can grind welds, blend scratches and work toward a brushed or satin finish on stainless, mild steel, aluminium or plastic. On amazon.co.uk the same search mixes two families. Dedicated tube polishers use roller heads and belts around 40 × 760 mm. Slim cordless finger belt sanders reach tight curves, and they do not fully encircle large pipe. Look for a belt size you can replace, a speed range that suits metal, and either a BS 1363 plug on 230 V or a battery platform you chose on purpose. Eye protection, hearing protection on loud work and respiratory protection when metal dust is uncontrolled still apply. Belt size and what the box excludes are set out in the [pipe belt sander buying guide](/hub/sanders/pipe-belt-sander/sub/pipe-belt-sander-buying-guide). A dedicated tube polisher has a motor, handles and two or three rollers, and the belt wraps a large arc of the tube. About 270 degrees of contact is common on trade spec sheets.

The best pipe belt sanders in detail

QUTBAG pipe tube polisher

Rank 1

QUTBAG pipe tube polisher

∼£120

Our view

The QUTBAG pipe polisher is listed at £120 as a corded machine with six adjustable speeds in the title and a 1,000 rpm maximum in the table. amazon.co.uk shows 5.0 from two ratings, and no review text is printed. The title names plastic, aluminium, iron and steel. A FAQ on the page asks whether it will polish copper and whether a handle is included, and the included-components field does not answer either question. A 760 mm figure sits on a disc-diameter row, which reads as a belt-length class rather than a disc, and belt width is not given, so you cannot match replacement belts from the listing. Voltage and UK plug shape are absent. Two five-star ratings are not a record of weld blending or belt life. It is a standalone body rather than a grinder attachment, and you should confirm belt size, handle and plug on the live listing before you buy it for rail work.

Pros

  • Dedicated corded polisher rather than a grinder head
  • Six speeds in the title and 1,000 rpm in the table
  • £120 sits in the middle of this set
  • Title names plastic, aluminium, iron and steel

Cons

  • Only 2 amazon.co.uk ratings, and no written review on the listing
  • Belt width not stated; 760 mm is only a disc-diameter row
  • Voltage, plug and handle contents not on the listing

Best for: You want a standalone tube polisher body and will check belt size, handle and plug on the live page.

Less suitable: You need a large UK review file, or a listing that already states belt width and a BS 1363 plug.

Common questions

How many reviews does the QUTBAG have on amazon.co.uk?

The listing shows 5.0 out of 5 from 2 ratings, and no review text is printed. Two ratings are not a record of belt life.

Is the QUTBAG belt size listed?

The listing does not state a clear belt width and length. A 760 mm figure sits on a disc-diameter row. Confirm the live page before you order belts.

Can the QUTBAG polish copper pipe?

A FAQ on the listing asks about copper, and the bullets mention copper among other materials. Test on scrap at low speed. A handle is also unconfirmed in the included-components field.

XIIW Makita 18V finger belt

Rank 2

XIIW Makita 18V finger belt

∼£65

Our view

The XIIW finger belt sander, listed at £64.99 for Makita 18V batteries, is the tool in this set that UK reviewers actually describe using on detail work. amazon.co.uk shows 4.5 from 84 ratings. Dave, reviewing in the UK in May 2026, calls it a good-value unit that performs well and adds that it remains to be seen how long it lasts. Mr Pedley writes that it is well made and that it does fit Makita 18V batteries, after he had been dubious about the listing. Nick H calls the build good, the use easy and the running fairly quiet, while aitch's March 2026 review says it is poor quality and clumsy. Bullets list six speeds, a 100-degree head, a vacuum adapter and 16 belts; the table shows 6,300 rpm and 1.2 kg, and it also prints 230 volts next to a battery-powered row, so that voltage line is a clash, not a mains rating. The battery is not included. This is the top pick here for tight metal on a Makita platform, not a stand-in for a 40 × 760 mm polisher on long stainless rail.

Pros

  • 4.5 from 84 amazon.co.uk ratings
  • UK reviews describe a real Makita 18V battery fit
  • Six speeds, 100-degree head, 6,300 rpm and 1.2 kg listed
  • Vacuum adapter and 16 belts in the bullets

Cons

  • Battery not included
  • One UK review calls it poor quality and clumsy
  • 230 volts printed beside a battery-powered row
  • Not a 40 × 760 mm tube polisher

Best for: You already run Makita 18V and need a finger belt on welds, corners and short metal runs.

Less suitable: You need continuous satin finishing on long installed handrail with one tool pass.

Common questions

Is a battery included with the XIIW finger belt?

Bullets state Makita 18V compatibility and that the battery is not included. The £64.99 price is the tool and the listed belts, not a Makita pack.

Is the XIIW a full pipe tube polisher?

It is a narrow finger belt sander for detail work, not a 40 × 760 mm roller polisher. Use it on welds, corners and short runs.

What do the amazon.co.uk reviews show for the XIIW?

The Customer Reviews line shows 4.5 out of 5 from 84 ratings. UK reviews describe a Makita 18V fit, and one review calls it poor quality and clumsy.

JOJOCY DeWalt 20V finger belt

Rank 3

JOJOCY DeWalt 20V finger belt

∼£59

Our view

JOJOCY's finger belt sander is £58.99, aimed at DeWalt 20V batteries, and the box lists 20 belts at 330 × 10 mm plus a tool weight of 1.49 kg. amazon.co.uk shows 4.2 from 12 ratings. Peter B, reviewing in the UK in August 2026, says it is quick and easy on small areas, that the belt is slightly narrower than the holder, and that the belt is easy to change. reggie123 reports that it works well and that the battery is a tight fit. Smiler says the battery was a real faff to get on and off and sums the tool up as good enough for now. The title states 0–13,000 rpm and a 360-degree angle, while the table prints 5,000 rpm and 220 volts on a battery-powered row, so those figures conflict. It competes with the Makita-compatible finger sander on battery platform, not with a 760 mm tube polisher.

Pros

  • 20 belts at 330 × 10 mm included
  • 1.49 kg stated weight
  • 4.2 from 12 UK ratings, with several calling it fine for small areas
  • DeWalt 20V fit described by reviewers, battery not in the box

Cons

  • UK reviews cite a tight or fiddly battery latch
  • Belt described as slightly narrower than the holder
  • 5,000 rpm in the table versus 0–13,000 rpm in the title
  • 220 volts printed on a battery tool; not a 760 mm tube polisher

Best for: You run DeWalt 20V and want a finger belt for occasional small metal, wood or plastic touch-up.

Less suitable: You need long-run stainless rail polishing, or a battery latch that reviewers describe as easy.

Common questions

Is a DeWalt battery included with the JOJOCY finger belt?

Bullets state DeWalt 20V compatibility and that the battery is not included. Reviewers describe the fit as tight or fiddly.

What belt size does the JOJOCY listing state?

Bullets state 330 × 10 mm, with 20 belts in the box. That is a finger belt, not a 40 × 760 mm pipe belt.

What do UK reviewers mention about the JOJOCY finger belt?

Several UK reviews note a tight battery fit and a belt slightly narrower than the holder. The table prints 5,000 rpm while the title says up to 13,000 rpm.

Aidelife AG45 tube belt attachment

Rank 4

Aidelife AG45 tube belt attachment

∼£50

Our view

Aidelife's AG45 is the £49.99, 1.67 kg head that puts a 760 × 40 mm belt on an angle grinder you already own. The amazon.co.uk line is 3.9 from 78 ratings. In the UK review text, Chris says it fits a 4½ inch grinder once the existing guard is removed, and that he used it to polish stainless tubular fabrication. Phil Salamander writes that it works and is relatively easy to fit. Bullets claim about 270 degrees of belt contact and round tube up to 180 mm, with three belts supplied, and the spec row shows 15,000 rpm for the attachment rather than a motor in the box. Those UK reviews have no complaint paragraph, but non-UK review texts sit inside the same 78, so you should not treat every rating as a British job. There is no dust port in the listing data, and thread, speed and guarding still sit with your grinder. In this set it is the best value way to reach that belt size.

Pros

  • 760 × 40 mm belt, the usual trade pipe-sander size
  • £49.99 with three belts in the listing
  • UK reviews describe a 4½ inch grinder fit and stainless tube work
  • Bullets claim tube up to 180 mm and about 270 degrees of contact

Cons

  • Angle grinder not included; the guard comes off to fit
  • 3.9 from 78, with non-UK texts mixed into the rating count
  • No dust port stated
  • 15,000 rpm is a listing row for the head, not a measured finish speed

Best for: You have a compatible grinder and want to try 760 × 40 mm tube belt work before buying a dedicated polisher.

Less suitable: You need a complete corded kit with handles and a published UK plug in the listing.

Common questions

Does the Aidelife AG45 include an angle grinder?

No. Bullets list the tube belt attachment and three belts. The grinder is excluded, and a UK review says the existing guard comes off to fit a 4½ inch grinder.

What belt size does the Aidelife AG45 state?

The title states 760 × 40 mm, the usual trade size for a pipe belt sander. Three belts are listed in the box.

What tube size does the Aidelife AG45 claim?

Bullets state round tubes up to 180 mm diameter, with about 270 degrees of belt contact. That is a listing claim, not a measured wrap on your rail.

Garosa M14 tube belt attachment

Rank 5

Garosa M14 tube belt attachment

∼£55

Our view

Garosa's M14 attachment is listed at £55.31 and 1.7 kg, with 10,000 rpm in the table and 20 mm and 40 mm belts named in the comparison fields. amazon.co.uk shows 3.0 from six ratings. Willl33's August 2023 UK review says it was worth the extra money after poor reviews of cheaper alloy versions. Thomas's February 2023 review says it eats belts, that the tac welds holding the nut broke while he was tightening it onto an angle grinder, and that he still got the unit running. The spec table marks the power source as battery powered, which conflicts with an M14 grinder head, so you should ignore that row. No maximum tube diameter is stated. Keep it for a short trial on scrap with a grinder you already trust. A belt that shreds, or a nut weld that fails, is a poor bet on production railing.

Pros

  • £55.31 for an M14 tube head
  • 20 mm and 40 mm belts named in the listing
  • One UK reviewer preferred it to cheaper alloy versions
  • 1.7 kg and 10,000 rpm stated

Cons

  • 3.0 from 6 UK ratings
  • A UK review says it eats belts and that tac welds on the nut broke
  • Power-source row says battery powered on a grinder attachment
  • No maximum tube diameter on the listing

Best for: Short trial jobs on scrap tube with an M14 grinder you already trust.

Less suitable: Production railing work where a failed belt or a broken nut weld would stop the job.

Common questions

Does the Garosa head fit a standard angle grinder?

Bullets describe an M14 angle-grinder attachment. Verify the spindle before you buy. The grinder is not in the box.

What are the UK review themes for the Garosa head?

UK reviews mention belt tracking trouble and a nut weld that broke while the head was tightened onto a grinder. The star line is 3.0 from 6 ratings.

Why does the Garosa listing say battery powered?

The spec table marks the power source as battery powered, which conflicts with an M14 grinder head. Ignore that row. The head uses your grinder.

Generic pipe tube polisher

Rank 6

Generic pipe tube polisher

∼£147

Our view

The Generic pipe polisher at £147.28 leads with adjustable speed, a protective cover and 100 sanding belts in the title. The table lists a 1,000 rpm maximum, grit type 60–100 and a unit count of 100, yet the part number is KM-rd77ua--With25sandingbelts, so the belt quantity is not consistent on the listing. There is no Customer Reviews score and no UK review text. Power source, voltage and plug are blank, and neither belt width nor length is printed, which means you cannot check a 40 × 760 mm fit from the listing. Its place at 84 in Polishers on amazon.co.uk is a sales rank, not a finish test. The belt bundle is why it remains in the comparison. The missing stars and the 100-versus-25 clash are why you should read the live carton contents before you treat it as a complete kit.

Pros

  • Title claims 100 sanding belts and a protective cover
  • Adjustable speed in the title
  • 1,000 rpm and grit type 60–100 in the table
  • £147.28 is below the three-roller listing

Cons

  • No amazon.co.uk review score on the listing
  • Part number says 25 belts while the title says 100
  • Belt size, power source, voltage and plug are not stated

Best for: You want a polisher sold with a large belt bundle and will confirm the belt count and size on the live page.

Less suitable: You rely on amazon.co.uk star counts, or you need a stated 40 × 760 mm belt before you order.

Common questions

Does the Generic pipe polisher come with sanding belts?

The title states 100 sanding belts. Belt dimensions are not in the listing data, and the part number says 25 belts, so the count conflicts.

Are there amazon.co.uk review scores for the Generic polisher?

The listing has no Customer Reviews aggregate line. The sales-rank figure is not a finish test.

Can the Generic polisher polish copper pipes?

Listing bullets mention copper among other materials. Belt size and voltage are not stated, so confirm both, and test on scrap first.

Hydravex 3-roller pipe polisher

Rank 7

Hydravex 3-roller pipe polisher

∼£210

Our view

Hydravex is the highest price in these seven, a three-roller pipe polisher at £209.57 with a stated weight of 5.5 kg. The title offers six adjustable speeds and names plastic, aluminium, iron and steel. Page FAQs ask which roller layout suits a job, whether the head works on curved pipe, and whether it is suitable for stainless, and no buyer review on the listing answers them. Rpm, voltage, belt size and a Customer Reviews line are all missing. The item count is 20, without a contents list that says what those 20 pieces are. At 5.5 kg it is far heavier than the 1.2 kg finger sander, which fits a dedicated polisher rather than a detail tool, but the price is still unsupported by stars. Check the plug, the belt size and the roller reach on the live amazon.co.uk page before you spend it on installed handrail.

Pros

  • Three-roller layout named in the title
  • 5.5 kg, the heaviest body in this set
  • Six adjustable speeds in the title
  • Title aimed at stainless, steel, aluminium, iron and plastic

Cons

  • No Customer Reviews line on the listing
  • Rpm, voltage, belt size and contents of the 20 items are missing
  • £209.57 with no star evidence on the listing

Best for: You want a three-roller polisher headline and will check voltage, belt size and what is in the box on arrival.

Less suitable: You want amazon.co.uk ratings before you spend over £200.

Common questions

Does the Hydravex polisher work on curved pipes?

A listing FAQ asks this, and the bullets claim curved and straight surfaces. No buyer review on the listing answers it. Test on scrap.

What is the Hydravex price on amazon.co.uk?

£209.57 on the amazon.co.uk line. That is the highest price in these seven listings, and there is no star line beside it.

Are UK reviews available for the Hydravex polisher?

No aggregated Customer Reviews line was on the listing. Rpm, voltage and belt size are missing as well.

How we compared

This is not a lab test. Scores use the amazon.co.uk listings for this category: prices, Customer Reviews lines, bullets and the UK review text on those listings. Seven listings remained. Flat sanders that do not wrap pipe were left out. Review evidence is 40, stated equipment and belt geometry 30, price against included parts 20, and listing consistency 10.

1

Review evidence

40%

Stars and rating count on the amazon.co.uk line, with UK review text counted separately from non-UK paragraphs. A missing Customer Reviews line holds the score at 0. Fewer than 10 ratings is capped.

2

Stated equipment and belt geometry

30%

Whether the listing is a tube polisher, a grinder head or a finger belt, and whether belt size or tube diameter is actually stated. A narrow finger belt is not scored as a 40 × 760 mm polisher.

3

Price against included parts

20%

The GBP shelf price against belts, and against a grinder or battery the box does not include. Points per pound favour the stated 760 × 40 mm head over the higher-scoring finger sander.

4

Listing consistency

10%

Voltage, plug, power source and belt count have to agree. A 230 V row on a battery tool, or 100 belts in the title and 25 in the part number, is a clash, not a UK plug or a confirmed kit.

Pipe belt sander buying guide

Choose the family before the brand. A dedicated tube polisher or a 760 × 40 mm grinder head is for round rail and weld cleanup. A cordless finger belt is for tight bends and short runs, and it needs the battery platform named on the listing. Prices in this set run from £49.99 to £209.57, and the lower tags often exclude the grinder or the battery. Stars on two listings are missing, and two five-star ratings are not a service history.

What is a pipe belt sander?

A pipe belt sander is a powered tool that wraps an abrasive belt around round tube or pipe. You use it to grind welds, blend scratches and work toward a brushed or satin finish on stainless, mild steel, aluminium or plastic tube. On amazon.co.uk that search mixes two families, and sometimes a third. A dedicated tube polisher has a motor, handles and two or three rollers, and the belt wraps a large arc of the tube. About 270 degrees of contact is common on trade spec sheets.

Best for

  • Weld dressing and grain on round stainless handrail
  • Tight bends and short metal runs on a battery you already own

Not ideal for

  • Flat panels that belong on a bench belt and disc sander
  • A dust-free claim, or a finish backed by a published vibration figure

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Wood belts on stainless

A wood-only belt is the wrong abrasive for stainless tube. Match grit and belt type to metal, and keep a 40 × 760 mm spare distinct from a 330 × 10 mm finger belt.

  2. 2

    Full speed on thin-wall tube

Finger sanders quote high rpm. Start low on stainless so you do not gouge the wall or leave a heat mark. Six speeds on a polisher are there so you can stay off the top step.

  3. 3

An attachment without a thread check

The Aidelife and Garosa heads need a compatible grinder. Confirm the thread and the speed, and treat guard removal as a risk assessment. The grinder is not in the box.

What to weigh up

Job shape and belt size

High

Full tube polishers suit handrails, balustrades and weld cleanup on round stock, up to the diameter the maker actually states. In this set only the Aidelife bullets give that figure: round tube up to 180 mm, a 760 × 40 mm belt, and a claim of about 270 degrees of contact. That is the usual trade belt size. Bosch Professional lists PRO Y580 belts at 40 × 760 mm for pipe sanders, so spares exist in the UK if the machine really uses that size.

Reviews, price and listing consistency

High

Review evidence is 40 of the 100 points. The XIIW line is 4.5 from 84 ratings. The Aidelife line is 3.9 from 78, and non-UK text inside that count is not British job experience. The JOJOCY line is 4.2 from 12, with comments on a tight battery fit and a belt slightly narrower than the holder. The QUTBAG is 5.0 from 2, which is capped, because two ratings do not show belt life. The Garosa M14 head is 3.0 from 6, including a UK review about belts and a nut weld that broke.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Railing and fabrication

You dress welds and want a consistent grain on round stainless handrail. The Aidelife head states a 760 × 40 mm belt and tube up to 180 mm, at £49.99, and it needs a grinder you already own. UK review text on the listing describes stainless tubular work. It is not a complete corded kit.

Maintenance and facilities

You repair scratches on existing tube and want a standalone polisher rather than a grinder head. The QUTBAG listing is a corded six-speed body at £120. Belt width, handle and plug are not on the listing, and there are only two ratings. Check those on the live page before you buy it for rail.

DIY and hobby metal

Dedicated polishers look expensive here, and several review files are thin. The XIIW finger belt at £64.99 is the top pick if you already run Makita 18V and the work is welds, corners and short runs. The battery is not included, and it will not wrap long handrail.

Common questions about pipe belt sanders

Which pipe belt sander is the top pick in 2026?
The top pick in this set is the XIIW finger belt sander for Makita 18V batteries, at £64.99. amazon.co.uk shows 4.5 from 84 ratings. It lists six speeds, a pivoting head, a vacuum adapter and 16 belts. It is for tight metal and short runs, not a 40 × 760 mm wrap on long stainless rail. The battery is not included. The score uses listing evidence, not a lab test.
How much does a pipe belt sander cost on amazon.co.uk?
Prices in this set run from £49.99 for the Aidelife grinder head to £209.57 for the Hydravex three-roller listing. The JOJOCY and XIIW finger sanders are £58.99 and £64.99, and the QUTBAG corded polisher is £120. A Holzmann RSG760 is about £220 at Machine Mart, outside this amazon set. These are shelf figures on 20 October 2026. Check whether the grinder or the battery is excluded before you compare the tag.
What should you check before you buy a pipe belt sander?
Start with the job. A 40 × 760 mm belt suits round handrail. A narrow finger belt suits tight bends and does not encircle large pipe. Then check power: a BS 1363 plug on 230 V, or a named battery if it is sold separately. Two or six ratings are a fragile star line. Confirm belt width and grinder thread. A voltage row on a battery tool is a listing clash, not proof of a UK plug.
What is the difference between a tube polisher and a finger belt sander?
A dedicated tube polisher uses rollers and a belt around 40 × 760 mm so the abrasive wraps a large arc of round stock. Trade sheets often quote about 270 degrees of contact. A cordless finger belt sander uses a narrow belt on a pivoting arm for welds, corners and short runs. The XIIW and JOJOCY listings are that second type. They do not replace a 760 mm polisher on long stainless rail.
Should you buy a grinder attachment or a dedicated pipe polisher?
An attachment is a belt head only. The Aidelife listing is £49.99 with three 760 × 40 mm belts and no grinder in the box. The Garosa M14 head is £55.31, with 3.0 from six ratings and a review about a broken nut weld. A dedicated polisher has its own motor. The QUTBAG at £120 is that body, but belt width and plug are not stated. If the guard comes off, that needs a risk assessment.
What safety kit does pipe belt sanding need in the UK?
Handheld belt sanders fall under EN 62841-2-4 for the safety design of corded and battery tools within the stated input limits. Electrical Safety First advises eye protection, a suitable dust mask, hearing protection on loud belt work, a secure workpiece, and unplugging before a belt change. Stainless and coated tube can produce harmful dust. In paid work COSHH applies, and extraction plus respiratory protection may be mandatory. A guard is not a dust-free finish.
Which sanding belt size fits a pipe belt sander?
Trade tube sanders commonly use 40 × 760 mm belts. Bosch Professional lists PRO Y580 belts in that size, and the Aidelife head states it. The JOJOCY finger sander states 330 × 10 mm. The XIIW listing quotes 3/8 in and 1/2 in arms, not a 760 mm belt. If width or length is missing, do not guess a fit. Other sizes are in the sanding belt comparison. Do not run a wood-only belt on stainless.
When should you stop and call a professional?
Call a professional when a structural weld needs engineering sign-off, when you suspect lead paint on old steel, when on-site extraction is legally required, or when high-access balustrade work needs edge protection. Practise on scrap before installed rail. Maximum speed on thin-wall tube can gouge and heat-mark stainless. A full-wrap marketing line is not a test piece. Two ratings on the QUTBAG are not proof of belt life.

Our verdict

The highest score is the XIIW Makita-compatible finger belt, at 4.5 from 84 ratings and £64.99, for tight metal rather than long rail. The best value for a stated 760 × 40 mm belt with a large rating count is the Aidelife head at £49.99. Points per pound are higher there than on the higher-scoring finger sander. Listings with no review line, or with only two ratings, stay in the table so you can see the price, and they do not get an award.
