A grill bucket is a small metal pail sold for one of two outdoor jobs. You either cook charcoal on a grate that sits in a bucket about the size of a garden pail, or you hang a grease bucket under a pellet grill or smoker so fat leaves the cook chamber. UK searches mix both, so the first check is the job, not the colour of the tin. A grease bucket needs a spout that matches the tube, a capacity you can picture, and a plan for cold fat. Several listings never state a lid. A charcoal bucket needs a stable grate, a stated size near 30 cm, and an honest note when the lid is missing. It will not feed a party the way a kettle does. An ash pail with a claimed locking lid is a third job: leftover coals, not a cooker and not a drip bucket. The order of those checks is in the [grill bucket buying guide](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/grill-bucket/sub/grill-bucket-buying-guide). Light charcoal only outdoors. Cooled fat goes in the bin, not down the sink.

The best Grill buckets in detail

Foppla grease bucket set

Rank 1

Foppla grease bucket set

∼£16

Our view

The Foppla set is an iron-alloy grease bucket, 14.3 cm across and 15 cm high with a 10 cm bottom, weighing 360 g, listed at £15.65 with 15 liners and no lid. amazon.co.uk shows 5.0 from 16 ratings. The UK comments are short and positive: sturdy foil, liners that fit, and use in warm UK weather. German comments in the same listing say it sat on a Traeger 22. The bullets name Traeger 20/22/34 and other brands, including Oklahoma Joe's and Z Grill, and the listing does not give a capacity. One German note describes using the metal bucket for hot charcoal ash, which is that reviewer's choice and not a safe way to put coals out. The page also calls the pail an ice bucket, which is not a reason to chill drinks in a pot that has held grill fat. It is the best value pick if you want liners with a named pellet fit and you accept an open top.

Pros

  • 15 liners with the bucket at £15.65
  • 5.0 from 16 amazon.co.uk ratings
  • UK comments mention sturdy foil and liners that fit
  • Bullets name Traeger 20/22/34 and other brands

Cons

  • No lid, and capacity is not stated
  • Only 16 ratings, with short UK notes
  • A reviewer's ash use and the ice-bucket line are not safe instructions

Best for: You own a Traeger 20, 22, or 34, you want foil liners on the first order, and you will bin the fat once it is cold.

Less suitable: Anyone who needs a lid or a printed capacity, or a cook who would treat the ice-bucket line as a use for a grease pail.

Oklahoma Joe's 9518545P06

Rank 2

Oklahoma Joe's 9518545P06

∼£12

Our view

The Oklahoma Joe's 9518545P06 is a 2-quart metal drip bucket, about 15.9 × 16 × 15.2 cm and 198 g, listed at £12.47 with no lid and no liners. On amazon.co.uk it shows 4.6 from 2,641 ratings, and that total mixes countries: the review texts are mostly from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Germany, with one United Kingdom review on 3 June 2026 calling it a replacement for the small bucket on a Traeger 650. Reviewers say it hangs and catches grease, and that it is larger than some factory pails. The same themes include thin metal, parcels that arrive dented, a large sticker that is hard to peel, a miss on one Char-Broil gas drip cup, and wind that can swing the bucket off if the hanger sits on the outside. The listing's customer summary also mentions buyers who found it useless without a handle. It is the top pick here if you want a 2-quart open pail at this price and you can check the spout before you order.

Pros

  • 2-quart open bucket, about 16 cm across, at £12.47
  • 4.6 from 2,641 amazon.co.uk ratings
  • Reviewers say it hangs and catches grease
  • Larger than some factory pails in the review themes
  • The listing states the lid: no

Cons

  • No liners in the box
  • Thin metal, dented parcels, and a sticker that is hard to peel
  • Too big for one Char-Broil gas drip cup
  • Wind can swing it off an outside hanger, and some buyers wanted a handle

Best for: You already run a smoker or pellet grill with a small factory pail and you want a larger open 2-quart bucket, as in the Traeger 650 note.

Less suitable: A Char-Broil gas drip cup, a cook who needs liners and a lid in the box, or anyone treating 2,641 ratings as 2,641 UK reviews.

Waltboar TR1400ML

Rank 3

Waltboar TR1400ML

∼£18

Our view

Waltboar TR1400ML is a steel grease bucket, 14.2 cm at the top, 10 cm at the bottom, and 15.2 cm high, at 600 g, listed at £17.88 with 15 foil liners. amazon.co.uk shows 4.5 from 4 ratings, and all four reviews are from the United Kingdom, dated May to August 2026. Buyers liked the liners and the step of letting fat set, then binning the foil. One needed an S-hook because their barbecue did not use the same mount. Another was surprised by the size and did not know where replacement liners would come from, and one used liners in the kitchen as well as on the barbecue. The listing names Traeger 20/22/34 and 575/780, Pit Boss Austin XL, and Recteq RT-700, and it excludes the Green Mountain Timberline series. The lid is not stated, and the foil's 500°F (260°C) line is a listing claim. Four UK texts are a thin file next to the Oklahoma Joe's listing.

Pros

  • 15 foil liners at £17.88
  • All four reviews are from the United Kingdom
  • Buyers describe letting fat set, then binning the liner
  • Timberline is excluded on the listing

Cons

  • Only four ratings, and the lid is not stated
  • One buyer needed an S-hook
  • Replacement liners are not named

Best for: You own a named pellet grill on that list, other than a Timberline, and you can hang the pail as it arrives.

Less suitable: A Green Mountain Timberline, or a cook who needs a known liner refill and a stated lid.

HOMION PHM1034

Rank 4

HOMION PHM1034

∼£14

Our view

The HOMION PHM1034 is a charcoal bucket barbecue, 30 × 30 × 22 cm and 1.7 kg, listed at £14.15 with no assembly required. amazon.co.uk shows 3.9 from 8 ratings. A UK reviewer wrote that it failed to keep the rain off, and another wrote that it might last one use and that they were waiting for a refund. Two others said five cooks were fine. The listing includes a stand and does not state a lid, so it reads as a small open grate rather than a kettle. Eight reviews are a mixed, thin sample, not a durability test, and the listing does not show a BS EN 1860-1 mark. It suits a picnic or patio cook who wants a reusable charcoal bucket about 30 cm across and will keep it outdoors.

Pros

  • Charcoal bucket, 30 × 30 × 22 cm, at £14.15
  • 1.7 kg, assembly not required, stand included
  • Two reviews say five cooks were fine
  • 3.9 from 8 ratings, so there is a public record

Cons

  • Lid not stated; one UK review says it failed to keep the rain off
  • Another UK review expects a single use and a refund
  • Eight reviews disagree, and this is not a grease bucket

Best for: You want a small reusable charcoal grate for a picnic or patio, and you can keep rain off the food yourself.

Less suitable: A pellet-grill owner shopping for a drip pail, or anyone who wants a lidded kettle.

BCOATH drip cup

Rank 5

BCOATH drip cup

Our view

The BCOATH cup is an iron drip pot about 2.95 × 2.95 × 2.20 inches, 3 inches across and 85 g, listed at £5.97 with no lid and no liners. amazon.co.uk shows 2.1 from 4 ratings. Three UK reviews agree on the size: smaller than expected and bent, disappointingly small, and tiny. That matches the listing, about 7.5 cm across and 5.6 cm high, so it will not stand in for a 2-quart smoker pail. The amazon.co.uk best-seller rank sits under Grocery, in cleaning buckets, which is a sign the listing is loosely filed. There is no grill model on the page. At £5.97 it is the cheapest row here, and it is still the wrong object if your smoker spout is nearer the 12.7 cm Pit Boss replacement size.

Pros

  • Lowest shelf price here, £5.97
  • Listing size matches the UK reviews: about 7.5 cm across
  • Lid is stated as no

Cons

  • 2.1 from 4 ratings
  • UK reviews call it tiny, and one arrived bent
  • No grill model and no liners

Best for: You have already measured a drip point at about 3 inches, and a bent 85 g cup is an acceptable risk.

Less suitable: Any pellet smoker that uses a pail near 12–16 cm, or a cook who wants liners.

PREMZO PPM0560

Rank 6

PREMZO PPM0560

∼£15

Our view

The PREMZO PPM0560 is a charcoal bucket barbecue, 30 × 27.5 × 22 cm, listed at £14.85 with no assembly required. The listing claims stainless steel for the material, handle, and frame, and a weight of 5 kg, which is much heavier than the 1.7 kg HOMION on a similar footprint, and the listing does not explain the gap. There is no customer-review line on amazon.co.uk, so no assembly and stainless steel stay listing claims. The included-components line names the bucket barbecue itself, and the lid is not stated. It is a small open charcoal grill in the same size band as the HOMION. Without reviews you cannot tell whether the 5 kg body feels solid or simply heavy to store.

Pros

  • Charcoal bucket, 30 × 27.5 × 22 cm, at £14.85
  • Assembly not required
  • Listed weight 5 kg, heavier than the 1.7 kg HOMION

Cons

  • No review line
  • Lid not stated
  • Stainless steel is a claim, and no warranty is stated

Best for: You want a reusable charcoal bucket near 30 cm and you prefer the heavier listed weight, knowing nobody has reviewed it here.

Less suitable: A buyer who wants owner comments, a lid, or a drip bucket for a pellet grill.

LuLobtg grease bucket

Rank 7

LuLobtg grease bucket

∼£13

Our view

The LuLobtg bucket is listed at £12.99 with a lid, 12 aluminium liners, and a stated capacity of 500 ml. The dimensions on the listing are 13.5 × 7.5 × 22 cm, with a 13.5 cm diameter and a weight of 613 g, and the material line claims stamped steel. There is no review line on amazon.co.uk, so there is no owner record here of whether the lid stays on or the liners fit. The bullets claim a threaded collar for a 1.6-inch-wide, 45-degree square drip tube, and they exclude models with a side cold-smoker box. A 500 ml pail is a different object from the 2-quart Oklahoma Joe's bucket in this comparison. The pet-safety paragraph on the listing, including pancreatitis, is advertising copy, not a veterinary finding. Buy it only if that spout shape is the one on your grill and you accept an unreviewed listing.

Pros

  • Lid stated yes, 12 liners, £12.99
  • Capacity printed as 500 ml
  • Spout claim is a 1.6-inch, 45-degree square tube
  • Side cold-smoker boxes are excluded on the page

Cons

  • No review line on amazon.co.uk
  • 500 ml is far smaller than a 2-quart pail
  • Stamped steel and the pet-safety copy are listing claims

Best for: You have that 1.6-inch square drip tube, you want a lid and liners, and you can return the bucket if the collar misses.

Less suitable: A side cold-smoker box, a 2-quart hanger, or anyone who wants UK owner comments before they pay.

Mifoci FLO-Mifoci-7171

Rank 8

Mifoci FLO-Mifoci-7171

∼£56

Our view

The Mifoci FLO-Mifoci-7171 is listed at £55.93 as a charcoal extinguishing bucket, not as a barbecue and not as a grease pail. The bullets claim a 3-gallon stainless bucket, a bottom grille so embers do not sit on the base, heat-resistant gloves, and a locking lid. The attribute table says 29.5 × 28 × 27.5 cm and 2.31 kg, and there is no review line on amazon.co.uk. Three US gallons is about 11 litres. The listing does not show a test of the seal, so the locking lid is a manufacturer claim. Fire-service advice is still to let coals cool for hours and not to tip hot ash into a plastic bin. At this price it is the outlier in the comparison, and it does not cook food or catch pellet-grill fat.

Pros

  • Claimed locking lid, bottom grille, and gloves
  • 29.5 × 28 × 27.5 cm, assembly not required
  • A metal pail for coals, separate from a plastic bin

Cons

  • £55.93 and no review line
  • Not a barbecue and not a grease bucket
  • The lid seal is not shown as tested

Best for: You want a metal pail with a claimed locking lid and gloves for leftover coals, and you will still let them cool.

Less suitable: Anyone shopping for a cooker or a smoker drip bucket.

How we compared

Eight amazon.co.uk grill bucket listings were scored from 0 to 100. Stars contribute up to 40: round(stars divided by 5, times 40). A missing star line scores 0. Review volume contributes up to 25: none is 0, 1–9 is 8, 10–99 is 15, 100–999 is 20, and 1,000 or more is 25. Product-type fit contributes up to 25 from the listing facts in this mixed search. Price band contributes up to 10: under £10 is 10, £10.00–£14.99 is 8, £15.00–£19.99 is 6, and £20 or more is 2. The top pick is the Oklahoma Joe's 9518545P06, score 95. Best value is the Foppla set, score 81, the highest score per pound among the other rows that still score at least 50. This is not a lab cook and not a BS EN 1860-1 result. A grease bucket is not a barbecue, so that standard does not apply to it.

1

Stars

40%

Up to 40 points from the amazon.co.uk star line: round(stars divided by 5, times 40). A 4.6 becomes 37. A 5.0 becomes 40. A 4.5 becomes 36. A 3.9 becomes 31. A 2.1 becomes 17. A missing star line scores 0. The star line is the listing figure, not a lab score.

2

Review volume

25%

Up to 25 points from the amazon.co.uk rating count. No reviews score 0. 1–9 scores 8. 10–99 scores 15. 100–999 scores 20. 1,000 or more scores 25. The 2,641 count on the top pick mixes countries, and it still sits in the top band because that is the listing total.

3

Product-type fit

25%

Up to 25 points from the listing facts in this mixed search. A 2-quart grease bucket with a stated smoker fit and a stated lid answer scores 25. A grease bucket with 15 liners and named pellet models, lid stated no, scores 20. The same liner kit with a Timberline exclusion and the lid not stated scores 18. An open charcoal bucket about 30 cm across scores 15. A lidded grease bucket of 500 ml for one spout shape scores 12. An iron drip cup about 7.5 cm across scores 8. A charcoal ash bucket that neither cooks nor catches pellet fat scores 6.

4

Price band

10%

Up to 10 points from the amazon.co.uk shelf price. Under £10 scores 10. £10.00–£14.99 scores 8. £15.00–£19.99 scores 6. £20 or more scores 2. A low star line does not win by being the cheapest. Best value is the highest score per pound among rows that still score at least 50, after the top pick is taken.

Grill bucket buying guide

Name the job before the star count. A grill bucket listing is a charcoal pail, a grease bucket for a pellet grill or smoker, or an ash pail for leftover coals. A useful grease bucket has a spout that matches, a capacity you can picture, and a plan for cold fat. A useful charcoal bucket has a stated size near 30 cm and an honest lid line. Shelf prices in this comparison run from about £5.97 to about £55.93.

What is a grill bucket?

A grill bucket on a UK listing is one of three objects. It can be a small charcoal barbecue shaped like a pail, a metal grease bucket that hangs under a pellet grill or smoker, or a charcoal-extinguishing pail for leftover coals. The search mixes them. Name the job before you compare stars. A fish basket, a liner refill on its own, and a pellet storage tub are not this category. A grease bucket is judged on the spout, the capacity, and what you do with cold fat. Measure the tube.

Best for

  • A pellet-grill owner replacing a small factory pail who will measure the spout
  • A picnic cook who wants a reusable charcoal bucket about 30 cm across

Not ideal for

  • Anyone lighting charcoal indoors, on a balcony, on decking or in a tent
  • A buyer who needs a lidded kettle, or who will pour fat down the sink

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Trusting a fit-most line

A sentence that says the bucket works with most smokers is not a model list. Measure the spout. Read a Timberline exclusion if the listing prints one. Pit Boss UK states 12.7 cm by 12.7 cm for its own replacement, liners not included.

  2. 2

Buying the 7.5 cm cup for a smoker pail

UK reviews call the small iron cup tiny, and that matches a listing about 7.5 cm across. It will not stand in for a 2-quart grease bucket. The low shelf price does not repair the size.

  3. 3

Treating the review total as UK cooks

The 2,641 ratings mix countries. One United Kingdom note, on 3 June 2026, is not 2,641 UK cooks. A missing star line means there is no owner record on that listing.

What to weigh up

Job, fit and lid

High

The first check is the job. A grill bucket listing is either a charcoal pail you cook on, a grease bucket that hangs under a pellet grill or smoker, or an ash pail for leftover coals. A fish basket, a liner refill sold alone, and a pellet storage tub are not this category. For fat, measure the spout before you trust a fit line. A sentence that says the bucket works with most smokers is not a model list. Read any exclusion.

Size, liners and price

High

Size is the check you can picture. A cup about 7.5 cm across is a different object from a 2-quart smoker pail. A charcoal bucket in this kind of search is about 30 cm across and will not feed a party the way a kettle does. A light pail and a much heavier body on a similar footprint are not the same object, and a missing review line means you cannot tell solid from merely heavy. Liners matter only after the spout fits. A box with 15 foil liners lets you set the fat and bin the foil.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Replacing a small smoker pail

You already run a pellet grill or smoker and the factory pail is too small. The Oklahoma Joe's 9518545P06 is about £12.47, at 4.6 from 2,641 ratings, score 95, a 2-quart open bucket with the lid stated as no. The count mixes countries. Check the spout before you order.

Liners on the first order

You want foil liners with a named pellet fit and you will bin the fat once it is cold. The Foppla set is about £15.65, at 5.0 from 16 ratings, score 81, with 15 liners and no lid. The bullets name Traeger 20, 22 and 34. Sixteen ratings are a thin file.

A small charcoal cook

You want a reusable charcoal grate about 30 cm across, not a drip pail. The HOMION PHM1034 is about £14.15, at 3.9 from 8 ratings, score 62, at 30 × 30 × 22 cm and 1.7 kg, with assembly not required. The lid is not stated. Keep it outdoors and keep rain off the food yourself.

Common questions about Grill buckets

Which grill bucket is the top pick for 2026?
The top pick is the Oklahoma Joe's 9518545P06 at about £12.47. It scores 95: 37 from 4.6 stars, 25 from 2,641 amazon.co.uk ratings, 25 for a 2-quart grease bucket with the lid stated as no, and 8 for the price band. The 2,641 figure mixes countries. Review themes include thin metal, dents, a hard sticker, a miss on one gas drip cup, and wind on an outside hanger. This is not a lab cook.
Which grill bucket is the best value?
The best value is the Foppla grease bucket set at about £15.65. It scores 81, from 5.0 and 16 ratings, with 15 liners and the lid stated as no. The bullets name Traeger 20, 22 and 34. Score per pound is ahead of the HOMION charcoal bucket at about £14.15 and the Waltboar set at about £17.88. Sixteen ratings are a thin file. A cheaper cup that scores under 50 does not take this badge.
How much does a grill bucket cost on amazon.co.uk?
Shelf prices in this comparison run from about £5.97 to about £55.93. Under £10 there is one small iron cup. The useful grease buckets and the two charcoal buckets sit from about £12 to about £18. The ash kit is about £55.93. A cheaper cup that misses the spout is not a saving. These are the amazon.co.uk shelf figures recorded for these ASINs, and they move.
What should you check before buying a grease bucket?
Name the job first: cook on charcoal, catch fat, or hold leftover coals. For fat, measure the spout and read any model exclusion. A liner kit on its own is a different product. A lid is often unstated. A cup about 7.5 cm across will not replace a 2-quart smoker pail. Pit Boss UK states a replacement bucket at 12.7 cm tall by 12.7 cm diameter, liners not included. Price comes after those checks.
Is a charcoal grill bucket the same as a kettle?
A charcoal grill bucket is an open pail with a grate, about 30 cm across in the listings here. It is not a lidded kettle, and it will not feed a party the same way. The lid is not stated on the two charcoal buckets in this comparison. A full-size charcoal cooker is a different page: the charcoal barbecue comparison. Light it only outdoors. None of these listings shows a BS EN 1860-1 mark.
Can you use a grill bucket indoors or on a balcony?
No. GOV.UK fire guidance is outdoors only, not on a balcony, on decking or in a tent. The NHS says a barbecue indoors can cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Outdoor barbecues sit outside smoke control area rules, but smoke can still be a statutory nuisance. Use about 5 cm of charcoal, no petrol, and put cold ash on soil, not in a plastic bin. Empty a grease bucket only when it is cool. Call 999 if a fire is spreading.
Does a high review count mean the bucket fits your smoker?
No. The largest count here, 2,641, mixes countries. One United Kingdom review, dated 3 June 2026, calls the Oklahoma Joe's pail a replacement for the small bucket on a Traeger 650. A line that says the bucket works with most smokers is not a model list. Read the spout, any named exclusion, and the capacity. A high star line does not measure your tube.
Where should cold barbecue fat go?
Thames Water says cooled fat still does not go down the sink. Let it set, then put it in the bin. Traeger UK says a blocked grease tube can cause a grease fire, so empty the bucket only when it is cool, and do not use water on a grill fire. A listing line that calls a grease pail an ice bucket is not a reason to chill drinks in a pot that has held fat. Goods still have to be as described under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Oklahoma Joe's 9518545P06 at about £12.47. It is the highest score in this comparison: 95, from 4.6 and 2,641 amazon.co.uk ratings, for a 2-quart grease bucket with the lid stated as no and no liners in the box. The 2,641 figure mixes countries. Review themes include thin metal, dents, a sticker that is hard to peel, and wind on an outside hanger. The best value is the Foppla set at about £15.65, score 81 from 5.0 and 16 ratings, with 15 liners and the lid stated as no. It leads on score per pound among the other rows that still score at least 50. The BCOATH cup is cheaper and scores 43, so the low price does not take the badge. None of these scores is a lab cook.
