A grill motor is the electric drive that turns a rotisserie spit. In the UK you buy one to replace a dead motor on a gas barbecue, to turn a spit you already own, or to drive a Cyprus-style foukou. It is the motor alone, not a kit of rod, forks and brackets. You tell a suitable grill motor by the square shaft, the bracket and the supply. Measure the end before you order. About 8 mm, 6.5 mm and 6.4 mm are different parts. A mains unit for a gas grill often assumes a bracket about 3 inches (76 mm) wide. No bracket means a kit or a fabrication job. Choose 220–240 V with a BS 1363 plug, or a D-cell, USB or low-voltage supply on purpose. A kilogram line is a seller claim for a balanced load. Usual turning is a few revolutions a minute. If no IP rating is printed, keep the case out of rain. How to measure the spit and the bracket is in the [grill motor buying guide](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/grill-motor/sub/grill-motor-buying-guide).

The best Grill motors in detail

YJINGRUI MX-S40, 15 W

Rank 1

YJINGRUI MX-S40, 15 W

∼£50

Our view

YJINGRUI MX-S40 is about £49.99, 15 W, 2.7 RPM clockwise, stainless steel, and up to 40 kg on an 8 mm square drive. The score is 100 because 5.0 divided by 5, times 100, is 100. That line is one UK review, a lamb cooked over charcoal, so it does not take the top badge. The onlyfire black motor at 4.6 from 164 reviews stays the top pick. The listing says keep the motor away from direct rain. It does not print an IP rating, a lead length, a plug type or a mount width. The 40 kg figure, and a 40 kgf·cm line on the same listing, are seller claims. Do not convert kgf·cm into kilograms of meat. Origin is given as China. Napoleon’s UK note puts usual rotisserie speed at about 3 to 6 RPM. 2.7 RPM sits just under that band. It is a printed speed, not a timed cook.

Pros

  • Highest stated kilogram load in this set, up to 40 kg
  • Speed, wattage and direction are printed: 2.7 RPM, 15 W, clockwise
  • Stainless steel is stated

Cons

  • One UK review, so the score of 100 is a thin star line
  • Plug and lead length are not stated
  • About £49.99, the highest listing price here

Best for: You need a seller claim above 18 kg on an 8 mm square spit and you accept a single UK review.

Less suitable: You want a large UK review file or a named UK 3-pin plug.

Common questions

Is 40 kg a measured test?

No. The listing states up to 40 kg, and also 40 kgf·cm. Those are seller figures. The only UK review describes one lamb over charcoal. Origin is China.

Does it say to keep it dry?

Yes. The listing says keep it away from direct rain. It does not print an IP rating, a lead length or a plug type.

Which way does it turn?

Clockwise, at 2.7 RPM, on 220–240 V. The drive stated is an 8 mm square. Mount width is not stated.

Durlo CP127416, 10 W

Rank 2

Durlo CP127416, 10 W

∼£36

Our view

Durlo CP127416 is about £35.99, 10 W, 5–12 V, with adjustable speed stated as 8–20 RPM and an aluminium body. A USB cable is in the title. There is no BS 1363 plug in the listing. Load, drive size and direction are not stated, so a 5.0 from one review, score 100, does not tell you the spit. That one UK review says as described, no issues. Napoleon’s UK article puts usual rotisserie turning at about 3 to 6 RPM. The printed 8–20 RPM band is faster than that note. Use it only if you already know the shaft fits and you want that speed. It is not a substitute for the 15 kg mains motors that name an 8 mm square. Item weight is stated as 540 g. First available on the listing is 8 September 2025.

Pros

  • Wattage and an RPM range are both printed: 10 W, 8–20 RPM
  • USB supply at 5–12 V is in the title
  • Stated weight is 540 g, not a token figure

Cons

  • 8–20 RPM sits above the usual 3 to 6 RPM band
  • No stated load and no shaft size
  • One UK review, so the score of 100 is a thin star line

Best for: You want a 5–12 V motor with a printed speed band and you already know the spit fits.

Less suitable: You want a slow mains motor around a few RPM with a stated kilogram load.

Common questions

How fast does the listing say it turns?

8–20 RPM, adjustable. That range is what the bullets print. Load and drive size are not stated. The supply is 5–12 V with a USB cable.

Does it include a UK mains plug?

No mains plug is stated. The title says a USB cable. Material is aluminium. Item weight is 540 g.

What do the reviews say?

One UK review says as described, no issues. The rating is 5.0 from 1. That is the whole review file on the listing.

onlyfire F-BRMA212-PE1-UK, mains

Rank 3

onlyfire F-BRMA212-PE1-UK, mains

∼£24

Our view

The onlyfire F-BRMA212-PE1-UK is about £23.99, 220–240 V, with a stated load up to 15 kg and an 8 mm square drive. The amazon.co.uk listing shows 4.6 from 164 reviews, which is a score of 92 and the deepest review file in this set, so it is the top pick. A 5.0 from one review scores 100 and does not take that badge. UK reviews summarised for this listing repeat a quiet motor and a move off D cells. One review says it would not rotate, and one Weber fit stuck. The mount is printed as 3 inch (7.6 mm). The stainless siblings print 7.6 cm. Do not treat those strings as the same measurement. Case material, RPM, wattage and an IP rating are not in the technical table. One UK review describes a plastic outer case. The title says a UK 3-pin plug. The lead is 150 cm. Measure the spit. This score is the star line, not a load hung on a rod.

Pros

  • Deepest UK review file in this set, 4.6 from 164
  • 220–240 V, on/off switch, 150 cm lead, 8 mm drive stated
  • Reviewers often prefer it to a battery motor

Cons

  • Mount printed as 7.6 mm, not 7.6 cm
  • Case material is not in the technical table
  • RPM, wattage and an IP rating are not stated

Best for: You already have an 8 mm square spit and a bracket, and you want the mains motor with the deepest UK review file in this set.

Less suitable: You need a 6.4 mm Cyprus drive, a stated RPM, or a stainless case named on the listing.

Common questions

Does this listing state a UK plug?

The title says a UK 3-pin plug. The listing file does not show a photo of the pins. Wattage, RPM and an IP rating are not printed.

What spit does it state?

The bullets say a standard 5/16 inch (8 mm) square drive. The mount line is printed as 3 inch (7.6 mm). Sister listings print 7.6 cm for a 3 inch mount. Measure yours.

What do the UK reviews say about the case?

The technical table does not name a material. One of the UK reviews read describes a plastic outer case. Many of those reviews call it quieter than a battery motor.

TOPINCN, DC 5 V

Rank 4

TOPINCN, DC 5 V

∼£14

Our view

TOPINCN’s motor is about £14.43, DC 5 V, with a 1 m USB lead. The title says plastic. The table prints material as default and weight as 20 g. Do not treat that 20 g line as a weight this page has confirmed on a scale. Load, drive size and RPM are not stated, so the score of 92, from 4.6 and seven reviews, is only the star line. One UK sentence says the motor does what it is supposed to. Bullets claim CE and RoHS. That text is not a certificate this comparison has opened. There is no BS 1363 plug and no battery in the stated supply. A variable-speed claim is on the listing without an RPM number. Use it only if you already know the shaft and you will check the weight when it arrives. It is not an 8 mm, 15 kg mains motor.

Pros

  • USB lead length is stated as 1 m
  • Price sits in the entry band, about £14.43
  • A variable-speed claim is on the listing

Cons

  • No kilogram load and no drive size
  • The listing prints an item weight of 20 g
  • One UK review text against 4.6 from 7

Best for: You already know the shaft and only need a 5 V USB motor, and you will check the weight when it arrives.

Less suitable: You need a stated kilogram load, an 8 mm fit, or a mains plug.

Common questions

What load and shaft does it state?

Neither a kilogram figure nor a drive size is printed. The title says DC 5 V, plastic, and a 1 m USB lead. Item weight is printed as 20 g.

Does it include a battery?

A battery life is asked on the listing and not answered. The supply stated is DC 5 V with a USB lead. There is no BS 1363 plug.

How many UK reviews are in the file?

One. It says the motor does what it is supposed to. The listing rating is 4.6 from 7. That is a thin text file.

onlyfire F-BRMA312-SS1-UK, stainless

Rank 5

onlyfire F-BRMA312-SS1-UK, stainless

∼£27

Our view

The onlyfire F-BRMA312-SS1-UK is the stainless 15 kg mains motor at about £26.72, with an 8 mm drive, a 3 inch (7.6 cm) mount and a 150 cm lead. The listing rating is 4.4 from 159, score 88. It is the best value here because stainless steel is named at a price close to the black mains motor, which scores 92 and does not state a case material. In the UK reviews read, quiet running is the common praise. Two reviews describe a failure, one on the third use and one after 18 months. One review calls the switch fiddly, including for arthritic hands. RPM, wattage and an IP rating are not stated. The listing asks whether it is weatherproof and the bullets do not answer. A review confirms a UK 3-pin plug in the box. The stated load is 15 kg, not the 20 kg a reviewer hoped for.

Pros

  • Stainless steel is stated, at about £26.72
  • Same stated 15 kg load and 8 mm drive as the black mains motor
  • A review confirms a UK 3-pin plug in the box

Cons

  • RPM and wattage are not stated
  • Switch called fiddly
  • Two UK reviews describe the motor stopping

Best for: You want a stated stainless case on an 8 mm spit and can accept a price close to the black mains motor.

Less suitable: You need a printed RPM, a 40 kg claim, or a 6.4 mm Cyprus shaft.

Common questions

Is the case stainless on this listing?

Yes. The technical table says stainless steel. The price is about £26.72, against about £23.99 for the black sibling whose table does not name a material.

Does it state a speed?

No. RPM is not stated. One UK review calls it very slow, and another calls the rotation slow and strong. The listing states up to 15 kg, not the 20 kg a reviewer hoped for.

Is it described as weatherproof?

The listing asks the question and the bullets do not answer it. There is no IP rating. One review says the switch is fiddly, including for arthritic hands.

onlyfire F-BRMA102-SS1-UK, 18 kg

Rank 6

onlyfire F-BRMA102-SS1-UK, 18 kg

∼£35

Our view

The onlyfire F-BRMA102-SS1-UK states 18 kg, stainless steel, 220–240 V and an 8 mm square drive at about £34.99. The rating is 4.4 from 103, the same star line as the 15 kg stainless motor, so the score is also 88. You pay more for the higher stated load, not for a higher score. The mount is printed as 3 inch (7.6 cm), which matches the 15 kg stainless listing and not the black listing’s 7.6 mm string. The lead in the bullets is 150 cm. RPM is not stated. UK texts read for this listing praise quiet running and chicken-sized loads. One unit stopped after an hour. One review says the parcel had been opened and the plug had no 3-prong connector. The title still says a UK 3-pin plug. Check the pins on arrival. Some reviewers say it lined up on an existing bracket. Others drilled a hole or moved a bracket. A CE bullet is listing text, not a file opened here.

Pros

  • Highest stated load among the three onlyfire fixed mains motors here, 18 kg
  • Stainless steel and a 3 inch (7.6 cm) mount are both printed
  • Many reviews describe it as quiet

Cons

  • About £34.99, above the 15 kg stainless listing
  • One opened parcel with no 3-prong plug
  • RPM and an IP rating are not stated

Best for: You want the 18 kg stainless claim and an 8 mm spit, and you will measure the bracket before you rely on the brand list.

Less suitable: You want the lowest price in the mains group, or a printed speed.

Common questions

How is this different from the 15 kg stainless motor?

This listing states up to 18 kg and costs about £34.99. The 15 kg stainless listing is about £26.72. Both state stainless steel, 220–240 V, an 8 mm drive and a 150 cm lead. RPM is not stated on either.

Did a UK review mention the plug?

One review says the parcel had been opened and the plug had no 3-prong connector. The title still says a UK 3-pin plug. Check the pins when it arrives.

Do the reviews say it always slides on?

Some say it lined up on an existing bracket. Others drilled a hole or moved a bracket, including on an Argos barrel. The listing says to measure the spit first.

onlyfire adjustable, 3.5 W

Rank 7

onlyfire adjustable, 3.5 W

∼£32

Our view

This onlyfire motor is about £31.99 and 3.5 W, with an adaptor from 100–240 V to 12 V DC and a stated 1.5–7 RPM. It also claims two D cells, not included, or a 2 m USB lead at 3–12 V from a power bank or a car. Battery-only RPM is not stated. The stated load is 9 kg balanced on a 5/16 inch spit with a 3 inch mount, below the 15 kg and 18 kg fixed mains listings. The rating is 4.2 from 17, score 84, with six UK texts in the file. One says two units had burst. Another says something was loose in the electronic box. Others describe USB or plug use and chickens. The plug pattern on the adaptor is not stated. Case material and an IP rating are not stated. It is the low-voltage pick in this set when you want a printed speed on an 8 mm-class spit, not when you want the 164-review mains motor.

Pros

  • Speed is printed: 1.5–7 RPM on the adaptor
  • Adaptor, USB 3–12 V, or two D cells are all stated
  • 5/16 inch spit and a 3 inch mount are stated

Cons

  • 9 kg balanced, not 15 kg or 18 kg
  • D cells are not included
  • Short UK review file, including a burst-unit comment

Best for: You want a stated speed range and a way to run from 12 V or USB as well as an adaptor, on a 5/16 inch spit.

Less suitable: You want a fixed 230 V motor with over 100 UK reviews, or a load above 9 kg.

Common questions

The listing says two D cells, not included, or a 2 m USB lead at 3–12 V from a power bank or a car. With the adaptor, speed is 1.5–7 RPM. Battery-only RPM is not stated.

What load does it state?

9 kg of balanced load. That is below the 15 kg and 18 kg mains listings. The drive stated is a 5/16 inch square spit on a 3 inch mount.

What failed in the UK reviews?

Six UK reviews are in the file, against 17 ratings. One says two had burst. Another says something was loose in the electronic box. Others describe USB or plug use and chickens.

onlyfire Cyprus motor, 6.4 mm

Rank 8

onlyfire Cyprus motor, 6.4 mm

∼£22

Our view

onlyfire F-BRM6908-PS1-UK-A is about £21.99, 220–240 V, plastic, up to 15 kg, with a 6.4 mm drive and 3–4 RPM in the title. The listing limits it to Cyprus-style grills, not any other type. That 6.4 mm square is not the 8 mm drive on the other onlyfire mains motors and not the 6.5 mm D-cell shaft. The rating is 3.8 from 33, score 76. In seven UK reviews, noise is praised and fit and slowness are the complaints. One foukou review calls that speed right for the skewers. The lead is 1.5 m. Wattage and a plug pattern are not stated. Mount width is not stated. Use the listing price of about £21.99, not a best-seller offer from 20 October 2026. It is the motor in this set for a 6.4 mm foukou spit, and the wrong motor for a standard gas-grill spit.

Pros

  • Drive size and grill type are explicit: 6.4 mm, Cyprus grills only
  • 3–4 RPM is in the title
  • Lead length is 1.5 m

Cons

  • Not for an 8 mm gas-grill spit, on the listing’s own line
  • UK reviews argue about fit and speed
  • Plug pattern and wattage are not stated

Best for: You have a Cyprus-style grill and a 6.4 mm square end, and you want a mains motor rather than a D cell.

Less suitable: Your spit is 8 mm, or you want the motor reviewers describe as easy to slide on.

Common questions

Will this fit a normal gas-grill spit?

The listing says it is only for Cyprus barbecue grills, not any other type. The drive is 6.4 by 6.4 mm, not the 8 mm square on the other onlyfire mains motors.

What speed does the title state?

3–4 RPM. Several of the seven UK reviews call it very slow or hard to fit. One foukou review calls that speed right for the skewers.

Is the case metal?

The technical table says plastic. Wattage and a plug pattern are not stated. The lead is 1.5 m.

Tiiyee, 1.5 V D cell

Rank 9

Tiiyee, 1.5 V D cell

∼£15

Our view

Tiiyee’s motor is about £14.59 and states one 1.5 V D cell, or an AC-to-DC 1.5 V transformer, and both are not included. It states 3.5–4.2 RPM and CW/CCW. Kilogram load and drive size are not stated. Do not copy the 2–3 kg line from the WPKD listing that uses the same image. Weight is printed as 150 g. The rating is 3.5 from 44, score 70, with three UK texts: one is only “I am happy”, one says new batteries produced a hum that stopped when the cover was fitted, and one says it is too slow. Torque is printed as 0–5.0 kgf·cm. That is not a kilogram of meat. There is no mains plug. A 1.5 V motor sits outside the voltage scope of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 unless a mains adaptor is in the box. The adaptor, if you buy one, is a separate item the listing says is not included.

Pros

  • Speed and both directions are printed: 3.5–4.2 RPM, CW and CCW
  • No mains lead to route
  • Camping is in the title

Cons

  • No kilogram load and no drive size
  • The listing image matches the cheaper WPKD ASIN
  • UK texts include a hum and a too-slow comment

Best for: You already know your spit fits this body and you only need a 1.5 V motor for a light camping spit.

Less suitable: You still need to measure a shaft, or you expected a mains motor with a stated load.

No. It states torque of 0–5.0 kgf·cm and 3.5–4.2 RPM. Drive size is not stated. Do not copy the 2–3 kg line from the other listing that uses the same image.

What happened in the UK reviews?

Three UK texts are in the file, against 44 ratings. One is only “I am happy”. One says new batteries produced a hum, and the hum stopped when the cover was fitted. One says it is too slow.

No. The listing says one D cell, or an AC-to-DC 1.5 V transformer, and both are not included.

WPKD BLUEIY, 1.5 V D cell

Rank 10

WPKD BLUEIY, 1.5 V D cell

∼£11

Our view

WPKD BLUEIY TIA-UK-JY01495 is about £11.02 and runs on one 1.5 V D cell, not included. It states 3.5–4.2 RPM, about 2–3 kg, and a 6.5 mm square. The case is ABS and metal. The rating is 3.2 from 16, score 64, the lowest star line in this set. The four UK texts are about weak or failed rotation: more power wanted, arrived not working, reverse failed, or it stalled and was returned. A UK review says it struggled with small skewers. The 6.5 mm square is not the 8 mm mains drive and not the 6.4 mm Cyprus drive. The image file name matches Tiiyee B09Y61WWWJ, which does not print this kilogram band. Do not expect this motor to turn a turkey. A 1.5 V cell is outside the voltage scope of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. There is no mains plug.

Pros

  • Lowest listing price in the set, about £11.02
  • Speed, direction and a kilogram band are printed
  • No mains lead to route

Cons

  • About 2–3 kg only
  • The four UK texts in the file are about weak or failed rotation
  • The listing image matches Tiiyee B09Y61WWWJ

Best for: You want a cheap D-cell motor for a light 6.5 mm spit and you have read the return reviews.

Less suitable: You are cooking a chicken near 2 kg or anything heavier, or you want a mains motor with a long UK review file.

6.5 by 6.5 mm. That is not the 8 mm drive on the mains onlyfire motors, and not the 6.4 mm Cyprus motor.

Ten amazon.co.uk grill-motor listings were scored from 0 to 100 as the star line divided by 5, times 100. A 4.6 becomes 92. A 5.0 from one review becomes 100 and does not take a badge. The top pick is the onlyfire F-BRMA212-PE1-UK, score 92 from 4.6 and 164 reviews, the deepest review file in this set. Best value is the stainless onlyfire F-BRMA312-SS1-UK at about £26.72, score 88 from 4.4 and 159 reviews. Drive size, mount, supply and stated load are buying checks, not extra points. This is not a lab load test.

Star line

100%

The whole numeric score is the amazon.co.uk star rating divided by 5, times 100. A 4.6 becomes 92, a 4.4 becomes 88, a 4.2 becomes 84, a 3.8 becomes 76, a 3.5 becomes 70 and a 3.2 becomes 64. A 5.0 becomes 100 even when the listing has one review. Review count does not add points. A thin 5.0 does not outrank a 4.6 from 164 reviews for the badge. The star line is the listing figure, not a measured spit load.

Grill motor buying guide

Match the shaft and the supply before the star count. A grill motor turns a spit. It is not a fan, and it is not a full kit of rod and forks. Square ends of 8 mm, 6.5 mm and 6.4 mm are different parts. A 220–240 V motor wants a BS 1363 plug. A D-cell or USB motor is a separate choice, usually with a lower stated load. A printed kilogram figure is a seller claim for a balanced spit. Listing prices in this set run from about £11.02 to about £49.99.

What is a grill motor?

A grill motor is the electric drive on a rotisserie spit. On amazon.co.uk it sits with barbecue motors, separate from a full kit of rod, forks and brackets. UK buyers use one to replace a dead motor on a gas barbecue, to turn a spit they already own, or to drive a Cyprus-style foukou. The motor does not cook the meat. It only turns the load, and only if the square end matches. Drive size is the first measurement. Square ends of 8 mm, 6.5 mm and 6.4 mm are different parts.

Best for

  • A gas-grill owner replacing a dead motor on an 8 mm square spit
  • A foukou cook who has measured a 6.4 mm square end

Not ideal for

  • Anyone who has not measured the spit and is buying from a shared photo
  • A cook who needs a fan on the coals, or a full spit kit, rather than a motor

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Mixing 6.4 mm and 8 mm

The Cyprus motor states 6.4 mm and says it is not for other grills. The gas-grill mains motors state about 8 mm. The WPKD D-cell motor states 6.5 mm. Those are different ends. A brand list is not a measurement.

  2. 2

Reading 7.6 mm and 7.6 cm as one mount

The black 15 kg listing prints the mount as 3 inch (7.6 mm). The stainless 15 kg and 18 kg listings print 3 inch (7.6 cm). This page does not guess which string is the hardware. Measure the bracket you have.

  3. 3

Expecting a 2–3 kg motor to turn a turkey

The WPKD listing states about 2–3 kg. A UK review says it struggled with small skewers. The 40 kg and 18 kg lines are seller claims on other motors, not a load this site has hung on a spit.

What to weigh up

Drive size and mount

High

Drive size decides whether the motor can enter the spit you already own. In this set the gas-grill mains motors state a 5/16 inch square, about 8 mm. The Cyprus listing states 6.4 by 6.4 mm and says it is not for other grills. The WPKD D-cell listing states 6.5 by 6.5 mm. Those three sizes are different parts. Tiiyee, TOPINCN and Durlo do not print a drive size, so a star rating does not tell you the shaft. Measure with a ruler. Do not copy a size from a listing that shares a photograph.

Supply, load and speed

High

Supply decides whether the motor belongs on a 230 V socket or away from one. A 220–240 V motor sits inside the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, which cover 50 to 1,000 V AC. A 1.5 V D-cell motor does not, unless a mains adaptor is in the box. Great Britain accepts CE or UKCA. A CE bullet is listing text, not a certificate this comparison has opened. A UK plug should be BS 1363.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

8 mm gas-grill spit

You are replacing a D-cell motor and the spit is already 8 mm, with a bracket in place. The onlyfire F-BRMA212-PE1-UK is about £23.99, 220–240 V, up to 15 kg stated, with 4.6 from 164 reviews. The mount line prints 7.6 mm. Measure the bracket.

Stainless, same 15 kg claim

You want a stainless case stated on the listing and you can pay a little more than the black mains motor. The onlyfire F-BRMA312-SS1-UK is about £26.72, with 4.4 from 159 reviews, an 8 mm drive and a 3 inch (7.6 cm) mount. RPM is not stated.

Cyprus-style foukou

Your grill takes a 6.4 mm square end, not an 8 mm gas-grill spit. The onlyfire Cyprus motor is about £21.99, 220–240 V, up to 15 kg stated, with 3–4 RPM in the title and 3.8 from 33 reviews. The listing says it is not for other grills.

Common questions about Grill motors

Which grill motor is the top pick for 2026?
The top pick is the onlyfire F-BRMA212-PE1-UK at about £23.99. It scores 92 because 4.6 out of 5 scales to 92, from 164 amazon.co.uk reviews, the deepest review file in this set. The listing states 220–240 V, up to 15 kg and an 8 mm square drive. The mount is printed as 3 inch (7.6 mm). A 5.0 from one review scores 100 and does not take the badge. This is not a load test.
Which grill motor is the best value?
The best value is the onlyfire F-BRMA312-SS1-UK at about £26.72. It scores 88 from 4.4 and 159 reviews. Stainless steel is stated, with the same 15 kg claim and 8 mm drive as the black mains motor. The mount is printed as 3 inch (7.6 cm). RPM and wattage are not stated. UK reviews praise quiet running. Two describe the motor stopping, and one calls the switch fiddly. It does not outscore the black listing.
How much does a grill motor cost on amazon.co.uk?
Listing prices in this set run from about £11.02 to about £49.99. About £11 to £15 covers the D-cell and USB motors. About £22 to £35 covers the onlyfire mains units, the Cyprus motor and the 3.5 W variable unit. The 40 kg mains motor is about £49.99. A best-seller line on 20 October 2026 showed other offers. Those offers are not the prices in this table. Prices on amazon.co.uk move.
What shaft size should the motor match?
Measure the spit. An 8 mm square, a 6.5 mm square and a 6.4 mm square are different ends. The gas-grill mains motors here state about 8 mm, which the bullets also call 5/16 inch. The Cyprus motor states 6.4 mm and says it is not for other grills. The WPKD D-cell motor states 6.5 mm. Tiiyee, TOPINCN and Durlo do not print a drive size. A shared product photo is not a measurement.
Does a grill motor need a UK plug and an RCD?
A 220–240 V motor should have a BS 1363 three-pin plug. The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 cover equipment from 50 to 1,000 V AC. A 1.5 V cell is outside that range unless a mains adaptor is in the box. Great Britain accepts CE or UKCA. A CE bullet is not a certificate opened for this page. Outdoors, BS 7671 regulation 411.3.3 requires a 30 mA RCD for mobile equipment. No motor here prints an IP rating.
Will any grill motor fit a gas barbecue spit?
No. Fit is the shaft and the bracket, not the brand name. The repeated gas-grill size in the onlyfire bullets is an 8 mm square on a mount described as about 3 inches. The black listing prints 7.6 mm for that mount and the stainless listings print 7.6 cm. Do not treat those as the same figure. Stop if fitting the bracket means drilling near a gas hose. The grills themselves are in the gas barbecue comparison.
Is a grill fan the same part as a grill motor?
No. A grill motor turns a spit. A fan blows air at the coals and does not drive a square shaft. Do not buy one because the other was out of stock. Shaft size, supply and stated load still decide the motor. Fan listings are a separate comparison, the charcoal grill with a fan. If the plug or socket is scorched, stop and call an electrician rather than swapping parts.
How fast should it turn, and when is poultry done?
Napoleon’s UK article puts usual rotisserie turning at about 3 to 6 RPM. In this set, YJINGRUI states 2.7 RPM, the Cyprus title says 3–4 RPM, the adjustable onlyfire states 1.5–7 RPM on the adaptor, and Durlo states 8–20 RPM. Several mains listings print no RPM. Speed is not a cook temperature. The Food Standards Agency says poultry must be cooked through: 70°C for 2 minutes, or an equivalent time and temperature including 75°C for 30 seconds.

Our verdict

In this set the top pick is the onlyfire F-BRMA212-PE1-UK at about £23.99. It is 220–240 V, with a stated load up to 15 kg, an 8 mm square drive, a 150 cm lead and 4.6 from 164 amazon.co.uk reviews. The mount is printed as 3 inch (7.6 mm), while the stainless listings print 7.6 cm, and RPM is not stated. The best value is the onlyfire F-BRMA312-SS1-UK at about £26.72: the same 15 kg and 8 mm claims, stainless steel stated, 4.4 from 159 reviews. The 18 kg stainless motor is about £34.99 with 4.4 from 103, and one review describes a parcel without a 3-pin plug. YJINGRUI states 40 kg and 2.7 RPM at about £49.99, with 5.0 from one review. The Cyprus motor is the 6.4 mm row, about £21.99, 3.8 from 33. The adjustable onlyfire states 1.5–7 RPM and 9 kg at about £31.99, from 17 reviews. WPKD BLUEIY is about £11.02 and states about 2–3 kg, with 3.2 from 16. Tiiyee shares that image file and does not state a kilogram load. TOPINCN and Durlo do not state a shaft size.
