Cyprus grill motor

Updated: 23 October 2026

You searched for a motor for a Cyprus-style foukou and the results filled up with 8 mm gas-barbecue spit motors and rotisserie kits. A Cyprus grill motor in this set is a different part. The onlyfire listing we kept says it is for Cyprus grills and prints a 6.4 mm square. An 8 mm drive does not become the right coupling because both products say grill in the title. The [grill motor comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/grill-motor) holds that row beside the gas-grill motors, with prices in GBP. We read the amazon.co.uk listing and two specialist shop pages on 21 October 2026. We did not fit the motor to every foukou, and we did not run a lab load test.

A Cyprus grill is not a gas-grill spit

A gas-grill rotisserie hangs a motor on a side bracket and turns an 8 mm, often called 5/16 inch, square rod. The fixed-speed onlyfire mains motors state that drive and a mount phrase of 3 inch, printed as 7.6 mm on one card and 7.6 cm on the sisters. That picture is the wrong one for a foukou. Those grills use their own spindle and, on many shop models, a hook or a clip rather than a wide slide-on bracket. The amazon.co.uk search we ran on 21 October 2026 did not surface this listing first. It returned 8 mm motors, kits, and a Sunshine BBQs “Cypriot spit” motor from £39.99. If your drive end measures 8 mm, use the grill motor buying guide. If it measures 6.4 mm and the grill is the Cyprus pattern this listing names, stay here.

What the onlyfire Cyprus row states

The listing we kept is onlyfire B08MKY4BDF, model F-BRM6908-PS1-UK-A, at about £21.99. It states a 6.4 × 6.4 mm drive, up to 15 kg, a plastic case, 220–240 V and an on/off switch. The title states 3–4 RPM. The rating is 3.8 from 33 reviews. Mount width is not printed, and the plug claim stops at plug-and-play wording, with no photograph of a UK 3-pin. No IP rating is printed. The 15 kg line is a seller claim. It is a poor match for an 8 mm spit, and a different part from the 6.5 mm D-cell motor. A 20 October best-seller sticker of £17.12 is not the row price.

Why other foukou motors disagree

Specialist shops show that “Cyprus motor” is not one product. Cyprus BBQ lists a variable-speed foukou motor at £47.96 that hooks on, with 15 RPM and 40 RPM, and a battery motor at £16.98. Neither snippet prints 6.4 mm. A hook will not take this square. A US page at 110 V with an 8 mm coupling is the wrong voltage and the wrong drive. The 8 mm mains-or-battery choice lives on mains or battery grill motor.

What to do before you order

Order B08MKY4BDF only when the end is 6.4 mm and the grill is the Cyprus type the listing names. If yours is a gas barbecue, or the end is 8 mm or 6.5 mm, leave this row. The motor states 220–240 V, so the outdoor circuit wants a 30 mA RCD, and plug-and-play wording is not a photographed UK 3-pin. In Northern Ireland the mark for this sector is CE. Poultry still has to be cooked through. The probe and the lead are on how to fit a grill motor.

Common questions

Will my gas-grill 8 mm motor run a Cyprus grill?
Only if the foukou’s drive is actually that 8 mm square and the mount matches. The gas-grill motors in this set state an 8 mm or 5/16 inch square and a 3 inch bracket phrase. B08MKY4BDF states 6.4 × 6.4 mm and “Cyprus grills only”. Those are different parts. Measure the end you have before you order either one.
What size does the onlyfire Cyprus listing in this set print?
B08MKY4BDF, model F-BRM6908-PS1-UK-A, prints 6.4 × 6.4 mm. The row price is about £21.99. It states up to 15 kg, a plastic case, 220–240 V, an on/off switch, and 3–4 RPM in the title. The raw rating is 3.8 from 33 reviews. Mount width is not printed. The plug claim is plug-and-play wording, not a photographed UK 3-pin.
Is 6.4 mm the same as 6.5 mm or as 5/16 inch?
5/16 inch is the 8 mm gas-grill square on the onlyfire mains spit motors in this set. 6.5 mm is the drive on the D-cell motor B0D3KW87QG, with a stated load of about 2–3 kg. 6.4 mm is B08MKY4BDF. Those are three squares. Half a millimetre is enough to stop the end seating. Do not file the rod to suit a motor bought for a different grill.
Why do other foukou shops show 6 mm, 7 mm, or a hook?
Those shops describe their own mechanisms. Cyprus BBQ’s £47.96 motor hooks on and describes 15 RPM and 40 RPM. Their £16.98 battery motor also hooks on, with one D cell and up to 6 kg. Neither is B08MKY4BDF, and neither snippet prints 6.4 mm. A hook will not accept this square.
What speed and load does B08MKY4BDF state?
The title states 3–4 RPM and the load line states up to 15 kg. Both are listing claims. We did not measure the speed or hang 15 kg. Cyprus BBQ’s 15–40 RPM switch belongs to their £47.96 unit, not to this on/off motor. The row price stays about £21.99, not the £17.12 sticker from 20 October 2026.
