A gas regulator with a pressure gauge drops LPG cylinder pressure and carries a dial. You buy one in the UK for a barbecue, a camping stove or an outdoor heater. Match the cylinder valve and the figure on the appliance plate before you read the dial. Butane outdoors is about 28–30 mbar. Propane outdoors is 37 mbar. A 4.5 kg butane dumpy takes a screw-on. Larger butane cylinders often take a 21 mm clip-on. Patio propane takes a 27 mm clip-on. Standard propane takes a POL screw, a left-hand thread. Do not force a near fit. The dial is not a kilogram meter. Treat the needle as a leak-hold check. Cold butane can sit near zero until the cylinder warms. A body marked in bar or PSI is a different class. UK LPG guidance asks for BS EN 16129 on a new regulator, and for replacement at 10 years if no shorter life is stated. Rubber hose is on about a five-year cycle. Those checks are in the [gas regulator with pressure gauge buying guide](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/gas-regulator-with-pressure-gauge/sub/gas-regulator-with-pressure-gauge-buying-guide).

The best Gas regulators with pressure gauges in detail

Adventure 28/30 mbar 4.5 kg

Rank 1

Adventure 28/30 mbar 4.5 kg

∼£14

Our view

The Adventure 28/30 mbar 4.5 kg regulator is about £13.95 with 4.7 from 27 reviews. Bullets specify a screw-on for the 4.5 kg butane cylinder, 28/30 mbar, an 8 mm nozzle, 1.5 kg/h and a built-in gauge. UK review text is short praise for the dial and the price, with no repeated fault. The printed size of 120 x 50 x 50 cm sits next to a weight of 270 g, so treat that dimension as a listing error. No hose is listed. Twenty-seven reviews are a thinner record than 319. The card score is 94, the highest in this set, because the score is the star line times 20. It is the best value because it prints the pressure, the nozzle and the capacity at a nearby shelf price. It is not the cheapest listing.

Pros

  • 28/30 mbar, an 8 mm nozzle and 1.5 kg/h are printed
  • 4.7 from 27 reviews, the highest star line in this set
  • Screw-on for the 4.5 kg butane cylinder

Cons

  • Hose not listed
  • Only 27 reviews
  • Printed size 120 x 50 x 50 cm conflicts with 270 g

Best for: The same 4.5 kg butane screw-on, when you want 28/30 mbar, an 8 mm nozzle and 1.5 kg/h printed.

Less suitable: Buyers who need hundreds of reviews, or a propane POL cylinder.

Common questions

What pressure and outlet does the listing state?

Bullets state 28/30 mbar, an 8 mm hose nozzle and 1.5 kg/h. The inlet is the 4.5 kg screw-type butane cylinder.

Can it be used with a camping stove?

The bullets name camping stoves, cookers, barbecues and pre-2004 caravans. A hose is not listed.

What do the UK reviews say?

The UK reviews in the file are short and positive about the gauge and the price. They do not describe a repeated defect.

IGT 4.5 kg butane gauge

Rank 2

IGT 4.5 kg butane gauge

∼£12

Our view

The IGT 4.5 kg butane gauge is about £12.49 with 4.3 from 319 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest review count in this set. The title and bullets limit it to a 4.5 kg butane dumpy and include a pressure gauge. UK reviews praise an easy fit and using the dial to watch for a leak. They also report a narrow scale, cold-weather zero readings, and pack wording against built-in caravans, motor caravans and fresh-water boats. One review describes a fail-open after about five years. Outlet pressure and a hose are not stated. The card score is 86, the star line times 20. It is the top pick here for that screw-on with a thick review base, not a measured outlet pressure.

Pros

  • 4.3 from 319 reviews, the largest count in this set
  • Reviewers use the dial as a leak check
  • Lowest price among the reviewed 4.5 kg gauge regulators, about £12.49

Cons

  • Hose not listed
  • Outlet pressure not stated
  • Reviews quote a warning against built-in caravans and boats

Best for: A camping stove or small barbecue on a 4.5 kg butane screw-on, where a large UK review set matters.

Less suitable: Built-in caravans, motor caravans and fresh-water boats, or a patio propane valve.

Common questions

Which cylinder does this listing say it fits?

The bullets say it can only be used on a 4.5 kg butane cylinder. A hose is not listed in the box.

Does the listing include a hose?

No. Customer questions ask about a hose, and the bullets do not list one.

What do UK reviews say about caravans?

Reviewers quote pack text that says it is not for built-in caravans, motor caravans or fresh-water boats. The listing also names pre-2004 caravans.

Adventure 21 mm butane clip-on

Rank 3

Adventure 21 mm butane clip-on

∼£15

Our view

The Adventure 21 mm butane clip-on is about £14.95 with 4.3 from 7 reviews. It states a 21 mm clip-on butane inlet, 30 mbar, an 8 mm nozzle and a gas level gauge. Four UK reviews say it fitted and worked. One verified review says it did not fit a 13 kg Flogas cylinder. Seven reviews are too few to judge durability. No hose and no capacity figure are in the file. The card score is 86, the same star-line figure as the IGT listing, from a much smaller count. It is the clip-on butane option in this capture, not the 4.5 kg screw-on and not a 27 mm patio regulator.

Pros

  • 30 mbar and a 21 mm clip-on are both stated
  • 8 mm nozzle stated
  • Four UK reviews say it fitted and worked

Cons

  • Only 7 reviews
  • One review: it did not fit a 13 kg Flogas cylinder
  • Hose not listed

Best for: A butane cylinder with a 21 mm clip-on and a plate that asks for about 30 mbar.

Less suitable: A 13 kg Flogas cylinder of the kind one review could not fit, or a 4.5 kg screw-on.

Common questions

Which fitting does the listing state?

A 21 mm clip-on for butane, 30 mbar, with an 8 mm hose nozzle and a gas level gauge. Fitting is described as clip-on.

Will it fit every Flogas cylinder?

One UK review says it did not fit a 13 kg Flogas cylinder because the inner valve felt too large. The listing does not claim that cylinder.

Is a hose included?

No hose is listed. The bullets name caravans, camping stoves, barbecues and patio heaters as uses.

Cavagna 0.5–2 bar POL

Rank 4

Cavagna 0.5–2 bar POL

∼£29

Our view

The Cavagna 0.5–2 bar POL regulator is about £28.99 with 4.0 from 32 reviews, the highest price in this set. It is adjustable from 0.5 to 2 bar, with a gauge, a POL inlet and a 6.3 mm nozzle. UK reviews mention a kiln and a forge, and also a leak, a second-use failure, a cracked housing, a loose plastic gauge cover and blown seals on a camper hob. The capacity line is stored as printed: 812 kg/h. No hose is listed. The card score is 80. It is a high-pressure adjustable regulator, not a fixed 37 mbar barbecue regulator.

Pros

  • POL inlet stated, with a 6.3 mm nozzle
  • Adjustable 0.5–2 bar with a gauge
  • 32 reviews, more than the other adjustable listings

Cons

  • 0.5–2 bar is not 37 mbar
  • Leak, failure and blown hob-seal reviews
  • Hose not listed

Best for: A forge or kiln on a standard propane POL cylinder, where 0.5–2 bar is what the tool needs.

Less suitable: A 37 mbar barbecue, or a camper hob.

Common questions

What pressure range does the listing state?

0.5 to 2 bar, adjustable, with a gauge, a POL inlet and a 6.3 mm nozzle. That is not a fixed 37 mbar figure.

Which cylinders are named?

The bullets list several Calor and Flogas propane sizes on a standard propane POL inlet, from 3.9 kg up to 47 kg.

What do UK reviews report?

Uses include a kiln and a forge. Complaints include a plastic gauge cover, a leak, failure on second use, a cracked housing and one report of blown hob seals.

Tezla 0.5–4 bar POL

Rank 5

Tezla 0.5–4 bar POL

∼£24

Our view

The Tezla 0.5–4 bar POL regulator is about £23.99 with 3.6 from 6 reviews. Bullets call it a high-pressure propane regulator, adjustable from 0.5 to 4 bar, with a POL screw-in inlet, a 6.3 mm nozzle and a pressure gauge. UK review text mentions a pitch pot and a unit that adjusted after others leaked. A Sweden review says the POL did not fit that bottle. No hose is listed. The card score is 72. Six reviews and a 0.5–4 bar range put it with specialist high-pressure tools, not with a fixed 37 mbar barbecue regulator.

Pros

  • POL screw-in and a 6.3 mm nozzle stated
  • Adjustable from 0.5 to 4 bar if the tool needs it
  • Gauge included

Cons

  • Only 6 reviews
  • 0.5–4 bar is high pressure, not a barbecue setting
  • Hose not listed

Best for: A pitch pot or other tool that needs an adjustable POL regulator up to 4 bar.

Less suitable: A fixed 37 mbar barbecue, or a cylinder that is not POL.

Common questions

What pressure does the listing state?

High-pressure propane, adjustable from 0.5 to 4 bar, with a gauge and a 6.3 mm nozzle. A hose is not listed.

Which inlet is named?

A POL screw-in connection. One Sweden review says the POL diameter did not fit that bottle.

What did UK reviewers use it for?

One UK review mentions extra pressure for a pitch pot. Another says it adjusted where other regulators leaked. There are six reviews in total.

ZYWUOY 0–30 PSI with hose

Rank 6

ZYWUOY 0–30 PSI with hose

∼£20

Our view

The ZYWUOY 0–30 PSI regulator is about £20.09 with 3.4 from 3 reviews. Bullets describe an adjustable propane regulator from 0 to 30 PSI with a gauge, a stainless-braided hose and outdoor cooking, including a turkey fryer. The title length is 5 ft. The cylinder inlet is not named. Listed dimensions of 1 x 1 x 1 cm conflict with a weight of 640 g, so both figures stay as printed. One UK review praises the price. The card score is 68. Three reviews and a PSI range mean this is not a stated 37 mbar barbecue regulator. The hose is the part that is actually in the box, and it is the only stated hose in this set.

Pros

  • A hose is listed, 5 ft in the title
  • Gauge and an adjustable 0–30 PSI range stated
  • Braided hose material named

Cons

  • Only 3 reviews
  • Cylinder inlet not named
  • Pressure is in PSI, and the title says high pressure

Best for: An outdoor cooker where you want a hose in the box and an adjustable PSI range.

Less suitable: A UK barbecue at 37 mbar, because the inlet is not named and the class is high pressure.

Adjustable from 0 to 30 PSI, with a pressure gauge. The title calls it high pressure.

Is a hose included?

Yes. The title says 5 ft. Bullets also say 5 ft or 12 ft of stainless-braided hose. The cylinder inlet name is not stated.

What do reviews say?

One UK review in the file says the quality was good and cheaper than other sellers. The listing line is 3.4 from 3 reviews. That review does not describe a defect.

Smarbettiy 37 mbar G7

Rank 7

Smarbettiy 37 mbar G7

∼£11

Our view

The Smarbettiy 37 mbar G7 regulator is the lowest price in the capture at about £11.31. Bullets state 37 mbar, a brass body, a G7 inlet, a pressure gauge, a relief design and cylinder weights from 3.9 kg to 47 kg. There is no review line and no UK review text, so the card score is 0. That is a missing line, not a zero-star product. The inlet name is G7, not POL. No hose, nozzle size or capacity is stated. Use it only if the cylinder valve in your hand matches G7.

Pros

  • 37 mbar is stated
  • Lowest captured price, about £11.31
  • Gauge and a relief design claimed

Cons

  • No review line in the file
  • Inlet is G7, not named as POL
  • Hose not listed

Best for: A cylinder whose valve is actually G7, with a 37 mbar propane plate, if you accept no reviews.

Less suitable: A UK POL thread, a 27 mm patio valve, or anyone who wants review evidence.

Common questions

What inlet does the listing name?

The bullets say a G7 inlet and 37 mbar, with a claimed fit from 3.9 kg to 47 kg cylinders. They do not say UK POL.

Is there a review score?

The file has no customer-review line. The rating is missing, not a scored zero stars.

Does it include a hose?

No hose is listed. A pressure-relief design is claimed in the bullets, with no standard number.

Elchuiaby 37 mbar G7

Rank 8

Elchuiaby 37 mbar G7

∼£19

Our view

The Elchuiaby 37 mbar G7 regulator is about £18.75 with no review line in the capture. Bullets state 37 mbar, a G7 inlet, a brass body, a pressure-relief design, a gauge and tanks from 3.9 kg to 47 kg. Weight is 485 g. It costs more than the other G7 listing at about £11.31 and still has no UK review text. The card score is 0 for the same reason: the review line is missing. No hose or nozzle size is stated. The fitting to verify before purchase is G7, which the bullets do not equate to a UK POL thread.

Pros

  • 37 mbar and a gauge stated
  • Brass named, listed at 485 g
  • Relief mechanism claimed

Cons

  • No review line in the file
  • G7 inlet not described as POL
  • About £18.75, dearer than the other unreviewed G7 listing

Best for: The same G7 and 37 mbar case, if you want the heavier brass listing and can accept no reviews.

Less suitable: A UK POL cylinder, or a buyer who is comparing review counts.

Common questions

Does the listing include a pressure gauge?

Yes. The title says 37 mbar with a pressure gauge.

Which cylinder connection is named?

A G7 inlet, with a claimed fit from 3.9 kg to 47 kg. UK POL is not named. No hose is listed.

Are there UK reviews?

No review line and no review text in the file. Do not read the empty line as zero stars.

How we compared

Eight amazon.co.uk listings were scored from the star line, not from a lab test and not from a measured outlet pressure. Where a review line exists, the card score is that star figure times 20. A 4.7 is 94. A 4.3 is 86. A 4.0 is 80. A 3.6 is 72. A 3.4 is 68. The two G7 listings have no review line, so the card score is 0. That 0 is a missing line, not zero stars. The top pick is the IGT 4.5 kg screw-on, card score 86, because it has the largest review count in the set, 4.3 from 319, at about £12.49. Best value is the Adventure Outdoor Supplies 28/30 mbar screw-on, card score 94, the highest star line, at about £13.95, with 28/30 mbar, an 8 mm nozzle and 1.5 kg/h printed, from 27 reviews. The weights below are the buying checks. They sum to 100. They are not a second score that moves the badges. No listing file in this set contains the string BS EN 16129, so that mark is not claimed for these eight.

1

Cylinder inlet

30%

Up to 30 points of the buying check. The valve in your hand has to match the listing: 4.5 kg screw-on, 21 mm clip-on, 27 mm patio, POL, or a named G7. A near fit does not score. A G7 line is not treated as UK POL.

2

Stated outlet pressure

25%

Up to 25 points of the buying check. The listing has to print the figure the plate asks for. Butane outdoors is about 28–30 mbar. Propane outdoors is 37 mbar. A blank millibar line does not become 37 mbar.

3

Pressure class

20%

Up to 20 points of the buying check. Fixed low pressure is the barbecue class. A body marked 0.5–2 bar, 0.5–4 bar or 0–30 PSI is a different class. Half a bar is more than ten times 37 mbar.

4

Review evidence

15%

Up to 15 points of the buying check. The card number itself is the star line times 20. Review count still decides the top pick: 319 reviews on the IGT listing against 27 on the highest star line. A missing review line scores 0.

5

Hose, nozzle or capacity

10%

Up to 10 points of the buying check. A printed 8 mm nozzle, a kg/h figure or a hose in the box scores it. The only stated hose is on the 0–30 PSI listing, which is the wrong class for a 37 mbar plate.

Gas regulator with pressure gauge buying guide

Match the cylinder valve and the millibar figure on the appliance plate before you trust the dial. A gas regulator with a pressure gauge here is either a fixed low-pressure body for butane, or a high-pressure adjustable body that is not a 37 mbar barbecue part. On this page the shelf prices run from about £11.31 to about £28.99. The needle does not show kilograms left. A listing that prints 0.5 bar or PSI is a different class, and a G7 inlet is not UK POL.

What is a gas regulator with a pressure gauge?

A gas regulator with a pressure gauge drops the pressure in an LPG cylinder and shows a dial on the body. UK shoppers meet it on a barbecue, a camping stove, a patio heater or, in a different pressure class, a forge or a kiln. The dial is why the title looks different from a plain regulator. It is not a second product until the inlet and the millibar figure also match. Start with the cylinder in your hand. A 4.5 kg butane dumpy takes a screw-on.

Best for

  • A 4.5 kg butane screw-on for a camping stove or small barbecue
  • A POL propane cylinder for a forge, kiln or pitch pot that needs a bar-range regulator

Not ideal for

  • A 37 mbar barbecue plate fitted with a 0.5 bar or PSI regulator
  • A built-in caravan, a hired tourer, a boat, or a UK POL valve treated as G7

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Reading the needle as litres left

The dial shows inlet vapour pressure. It stays broadly steady while liquid remains, then falls. Cold butane can sit near zero until the cylinder warms. It is a leak-hold check, not a kilogram meter.

  2. 2

    A 0.5 bar regulator on a hob

Half a bar is more than ten times 37 mbar. The Cavagna, Tezla and ZYWUOY listings are adjustable high-pressure bodies. A UK review of the Cavagna unit reports blown hob seals on a camper. Do not fit that class to a 28–37 mbar plate.

  3. 3

PTFE on POL, or G7 forced onto a UK valve

POL is a left-hand thread. Flogas says tighten anti-clockwise and do not use sealant. The two 37 mbar listings name G7, not POL. A 21 mm clip-on is not a 4.5 kg screw-on, and one review says the 21 mm listing missed a 13 kg Flogas cylinder.

What to weigh up

Inlet, gas and millibar

High

Match the inlet to the cylinder before you compare stars. A 4.5 kg butane dumpy takes a screw-on. Calor states 29 mbar for that bottle. Larger butane cylinders often take a 21 mm clip-on. Patio propane takes a 27 mm clip-on at 37 mbar. Standard propane takes a POL screw. Flogas describes that thread as left-hand: tighten anti-clockwise, and do not use sealant. Ireland uses different fittings. A G7 inlet, which is what the Smarbettiy and Elchuiaby listings name, is not a documented UK POL fit.

Gauge, hose and service life

High

The dial shows inlet vapour pressure, not kilograms left. GOK states that the needle is not a fill-level meter. Pressure stays broadly steady while liquid remains, then falls. Cold butane can sit near zero. Calor says the 4.5 kg butane cylinder is effective above about −2 °C. Reviewers of the IGT listing report that cold-weather zero. Use the needle as a leak-hold check with fluid, never a flame. Most listings here are regulator-only.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

4.5 kg butane screw-on

You have a 4.5 kg butane dumpy and a camping stove or small barbecue. The IGT listing is about £12.49 with 4.3 from 319 reviews and a gauge. It does not print millibar and it does not include a hose. It is the top pick on review volume. Pack wording quoted in reviews excludes built-in caravans and fresh-water boats.

Printed 28/30 mbar

You have the same 4.5 kg screw-on and you want the outlet pressure, the nozzle and the capacity printed. The Adventure listing is about £13.95 with 4.7 from 27 reviews. It prints 28/30 mbar, 8 mm and 1.5 kg/h. It is the best value on that printed specification. A hose is still not in the box, and 27 reviews are a thinner record than 319.

Forge, kiln or pitch pot

You need an adjustable regulator in bar, on a POL propane cylinder, not a 37 mbar barbecue plate. The Cavagna listing is about £28.99, 0.5–2 bar, POL, 4.0 from 32 reviews. Reviews include a kiln, a forge, a leak and blown hob seals. Do not put it on a hob that asks for 37 mbar.

Common questions about Gas regulators with pressure gauges

Which gas regulator with a pressure gauge is the top pick for 2026?
The top pick is the IGT 4.5 kg butane screw-on with a gauge, at about £12.49. amazon.co.uk shows 4.3 from 319 reviews, the largest count in this set. The card score is 86, from that star line times 20. The listing does not print an outlet pressure and does not include a hose. Reviews quote pack wording against built-in caravans, motor caravans and fresh-water boats. This is a listing score, not a measured outlet pressure.
Which gas regulator with a pressure gauge is the best value?
The best value is the Adventure Outdoor Supplies 28/30 mbar screw-on for the same 4.5 kg butane cylinder, at about £13.95. It is 4.7 from 27 reviews. The card score is 94, the highest star line here. The bullets print 28/30 mbar, an 8 mm nozzle and 1.5 kg/h. A hose is not listed. Twenty-seven reviews are a thinner record than 319. It is not the cheapest listing. The cheapest row is an unreviewed G7 inlet at about £11.31, which is a different fitting.
How much does a gas regulator with a pressure gauge cost?
In this set the shelf prices run from about £11.31 to about £28.99. The fixed low-pressure butane gauge regulators sit at about £12.49, £13.95 and £14.95. The two unreviewed 37 mbar G7 listings are about £11.31 and £18.75. The adjustable high-pressure listings sit at about £20.09, £23.99 and £28.99. A rule of thumb for this shelf only: a UK low-pressure regulator with a gauge sits near £12–£15. Past about £20 you are usually looking at an adjustable high-pressure body. These bands are this capture, not a live price check.
Does the pressure gauge show how much gas is left?
No. The dial shows inlet vapour pressure, not kilograms or litres left. Pressure stays broadly steady while liquid remains in the cylinder, then it falls. Use the needle as a leak-hold check. Cold butane can sit near zero until the cylinder warms. Calor states that a 4.5 kg butane cylinder is effective above about −2 °C. GOK describes the same limit: the gauge is not a fill-level meter.
Can a 0.5 bar or PSI regulator go on a barbecue?
Not if the appliance plate says 28–30 mbar or 37 mbar. Half a bar is more than ten times 37 mbar. The Cavagna listing is adjustable from 0.5 to 2 bar, the Tezla listing from 0.5 to 4 bar, and the ZYWUOY listing from 0 to 30 PSI. UK reviews of the Cavagna unit include a forge, a kiln, a leak and one report of blown hob seals on a camper. Those three are high-pressure tools, not fixed barbecue regulators.
Is a G7 inlet the same as a UK POL fitting?
The Smarbettiy and Elchuiaby listings print 37 mbar and a G7 inlet. They do not name UK POL. UK guidance names POL for standard propane, a left-hand thread, not G7. Neither listing has a review line, so the card score is 0. That is a missing line, not a zero-star product. A hose is not listed. Buy one only if the valve in your hand is G7. Do not force it onto a POL screw or a 27 mm patio valve.
When is a regulator without a gauge the right part?
A preset barbecue regulator without a gauge is a different comparison. Patio propane is usually a 27 mm clip-on at 37 mbar, and a contents gauge on that fitting is scarce in this capture. See the gas regulator comparison. This page keeps only listings that show a gauge. A 27 mm patio regulator with no dial was not kept here. Match the valve and the plate either way. Do not force a near fit.
When should you call a Gas Safe engineer?
Call a Gas Safe engineer for fixed home pipework, a hired caravan, a regulator that fails open, a joint that still bubbles, or a boat system the pack excludes. The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 generally leave a private touring caravan outside scope unless it is hired out. Leak-test with fluid, never a flame. Fit and cook outdoors. Outdoor heaters stay outdoors. Do not use PTFE tape on a POL thread. If you smell gas, shut the cylinder.

Our verdict

The top pick is the IGT 4.5 kg butane gauge at about £12.49. The card score is 86, from 4.3 and 319 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest count in this set. It is a screw-on for the 4.5 kg butane dumpy with a gauge. It does not print millibar and it does not include a hose. The best value is the Adventure 28/30 mbar screw-on at about £13.95, card score 94 from 4.7 and 27 reviews, with 28/30 mbar, an 8 mm nozzle and 1.5 kg/h printed. It does not out-review the IGT listing, and it is not the cheapest row. The 0.5–2 bar, 0.5–4 bar and 0–30 PSI listings are not 37 mbar barbecue parts. A G7 inlet is not a documented UK POL fit. None of these scores is a measured outlet pressure.
