Circular saw comparison 2026

The best Circular saws, compared.

Top pick: DeWalt DWE5615-GB Best value: GALAX PRO 1,400 W 185 mm – Complete corded saw at about £38.99 with 62 mm at 90° and 4.3 from 245 reviews, ahead of cheaper rows with repeated fault themes. Updated October 2026.

A circular saw here is a hand-held power saw with a round blade and a shoe, for timber and sheet goods, and only for other materials when that saw and blade say so. A flat shoe, a returning guard, a stated depth and a matching bore matter more than a laser. A side fence is not a guide rail, and a dust port is not extraction. Depth, mains or 18 V, and budget are set out in the [circular saw buying guide](/hub/power-saws/circular-saw/sub/circular-saw-buying-guide). It is not a plunge saw, and it is not a mitre saw. They are not the setup procedure for these shoes. Corded general-purpose saws in the 165–190 mm class suit a bench near a socket. Compact 18 V bare saws in the 150–165 mm class suit short cuts if you already own the battery system. The brushless, with an 184 mm blade, is the track-capable cordless saw. Prices here are a snapshot of ten amazon.co.uk listings, not a national average.

A circular saw here is a hand-held power saw with a round blade and a shoe, for timber and sheet goods, and only for other materials when that saw and blade say so.

The best Circular saws in detail

DeWalt DWE5615-GB

Rank 1

DeWalt DWE5615-GB

∼£89

Our view

The DeWalt DWE5615-GB at £89.00 is a corded 190 mm saw with a 24-tooth blade and a stated 68 mm depth at 90°, the deepest figure printed in this comparison. The amazon.co.uk line is 5.0 from 23 reviews, so the star score is strong but the sample is small next to the four-figure files on other rows. UK reviewers mention thick oak and carcassing where a cordless saw bogged down, which fits a 1,500 W mains tool, though several call out the 5.66 kg weight on ladder work. A 45° depth is not printed on the listing, and one UK review says 185 mm blades with 20 mm or 30 mm bores fitted even though the bore is not in the spec table. A guide is mentioned in reviews rather than named in the box list. If your job is depth on the mains and you accept a thin review file, this is the corded alternative to the track kit; if you need thousands of reviews behind the score, look at the Evolution or the bare DeWalt bodies instead.

Pros

  • 68 mm at 90° stated, the deepest figure in this set
  • 5.0 amazon.co.uk stars on the listing line
  • Named DeWalt corded saw with a UK model suffix
  • 1,500 W and 190 mm blade class
  • Complete mains saw, no battery to buy

Cons

  • Only 23 reviews on the listing
  • 5.66 kg, and weight is called out in UK reviews
  • 90° depth only; 45° not printed
  • Bore not stated in the spec table

Best for: Thick timber and deep 90° cuts on the bench with a socket nearby.

Less suitable: Overhead cuts or anyone who wants a large review sample before buying.

Common questions

How deep is the DeWalt DWE5615-GB at 90 degrees?

The listing states 68 mm at 90° with the 190 mm blade. A 45° depth is not printed.

Which blade bore fits?

The spec table does not state the bore. One UK review says 185 mm blades with 20 mm or 30 mm bores fitted.

Is it heavy?

Item weight is 5.66 kg. More than one UK review calls out the weight.

DeWalt DCS391 165 mm

Rank 2

DeWalt DCS391 165 mm

∼£95

Our view

The DeWalt DCS391 at £95.00 is an 18 V XR bare 165 mm saw with a 24-tooth carbide blade and a stated 55 mm depth at 90° at 3,700 rpm. The amazon.co.uk line is 4.7 from 1,250 reviews, the highest star average paired with the largest review count among the cordless bodies here. The box is bare, one lithium-ion pack is required, and a UK review says this model is not track compatible, which matters if you were planning guide-rail sheet work. Weight is 2.9 kg on the listing, lighter than most corded rows. The title’s 9 W figure is not a credible motor rating and is ignored in scoring. Keyless bevel is mentioned without a printed 45° depth. For DeWalt 18 V owners who need a trim and sheet saw within 55 mm, it is the default body in this set; for rail cuts, the brushless DCS572N or the Evolution corded kit is the direction the reviews point to instead.

Pros

  • 4.7 from 1,250 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • 55 mm at 90° on a 165 mm blade
  • 2.9 kg listed weight
  • XR 18 V platform
  • 24-tooth carbide blade included

Cons

  • Battery not included
  • Not track compatible in a UK review
  • 45° depth not printed
  • Misleading 9 W figure in the title

Best for: Existing DeWalt 18 V packs and cuts up to 55 mm at 90°.

Less suitable: Guide-rail sheet breakdown or buyers with no XR batteries.

Common questions

Does the DCS391 include a battery?

No. It is a bare 18 V unit. One lithium-ion pack is required and is not in the box.

Will it run on a DeWalt guide rail?

A UK review says this saw is not track compatible. The listing does not claim a rail.

Why does the title say 9 W?

That figure is printed in the title. It is not a credible motor rating and is not shown as power in the comparison.

Evolution R185CCSX with track

Rank 3

Evolution R185CCSX with track

∼£116

Our view

The Evolution R185CCSX at £116.00 is the corded saw in this set that ships with a 1,020 mm three-piece track, a multi-material 16-tooth blade and a dust port adapter, with the listing stating 64 mm depth at 90° and rank 1 in Circular Saws on this capture. Across 1,032 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.6, UK buyers use it for kitchen worktops, laminate and furniture panels where the track replaces a freehand rip. Evolution’s UK shop page quotes 59 mm on the track and allows mild steel to about 3 mm with the supplied blade, which is wider than the wood-only saws here. The bullets say an EU plug while at least one UK review reports a BS 1363 plug in the carton, so you should check before first use. Track joins and stiffness come up in reviews, and the shoe sits behind the blade so the rail must overhang the end of the cut. At 5.1 kg and 1,600 W it is not the lightest corded saw, but it is the only capture that pairs a rail with the saw in one price.

Pros

  • 1,020 mm three-piece track in the box
  • 4.6 from 1,032 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • 64 mm at 90° stated; Evolution shop lists 59 mm on track
  • Multi-material blade; Evolution shop states about 3 mm mild steel
  • Dust port adapter included

Cons

  • EU plug in bullets; UK plug reported in at least one review
  • Track join stiffness complained about in reviews
  • Shoe behind blade needs rail overhang
  • Heavier than budget 165 mm corded saws

Best for: Straight sheet and worktop cuts near a socket when you want a track in the same box.

Less suitable: All-day site work without mains power, or cuts that need more than the stated on-track depth without checking Evolution’s figures.

Common questions

Does the Evolution R185CCSX include a guide rail?

Yes. The amazon.co.uk listing includes a 1,020 mm three-piece track, plus a dust port adapter.

How deep does it cut?

The listing states 0–64 mm. It does not print the reduced depth when the track is under the shoe. Evolution’s UK shop page states 59 mm on the track.

Does it come with a UK plug?

The bullets say EU plug. A UK review on the same listing says a UK 3-pin plug arrived. Check the carton.

Ryobi R18CSP-0 150 mm

Rank 4

Ryobi R18CSP-0 150 mm

∼£77

Our view

The Ryobi R18CSP-0 at £76.95 is an 18 V ONE+ bare 150 mm saw with a 10 mm bore blade, a side fence and a stated 45 mm at 90° and 32 mm at 45°. At 4.6 from 981 amazon.co.uk reviews it is one of the largest samples in the set, and UK owners with ONE+ packs use it for decking, flooring and planter timber. The listing excludes battery and charger, so the shelf price is not the cost of the first cut unless you already own ONE+ packs. Reviewers call the side fence only roughly accurate and note the absence of a laser compared with an older Ryobi some buyers had. There is no dust port on the listing. At 3.13 kg and 4,700 rpm it is the compact cordless option for platform owners who stay within 45 mm, not a stand-in for a 68 mm corded rip.

Pros

  • 4.6 from 981 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Uses existing 18 V ONE+ batteries
  • 45 mm at 90° stated
  • Light 3.13 kg body
  • Side fence and blade in the box

Cons

  • Battery and charger not included
  • 45 mm depth limit
  • Fence only roughly true in reviews
  • No dust port listed

Best for: ONE+ owners cutting sheet and boards within 45 mm.

Less suitable: Thick framing timber, buyers with no ONE+ packs, or sheet work without a clamped guide.

Common questions

Does the Ryobi R18CSP-0 include a battery?

No. It is a bare ONE+ tool. You need an 18 V ONE+ battery and charger.

How deep does the 150 mm blade cut?

The listing states 45 mm in wood at 90° and 32 mm at 45°.

What bore is the blade?

10 mm, as printed, with 18 carbide-tipped teeth.

DeWalt DCS572N 184 mm

Rank 5

DeWalt DCS572N 184 mm

∼£212

Our view

The DeWalt DCS572N at £211.99 is an 18 V XR brushless bare 184 mm saw listed at 5,500 rpm with a fence and blade in UK reviews but no battery or case. The amazon.co.uk aggregate is 4.6 from 62 reviews, and the spec block on that listing does not print a depth of cut. DeWalt’s UK product page states 58 mm at 90° and 54 mm on their guide rail, which is the figure to use when you compare against the 68 mm corded DeWalt, not a guess from the Amazon table. Reviewers describe rail use and still note that a mains saw can feel less likely to bog on heavy timber. Weight on the listing conflicts between 3.6 kg and 5.15 kg; DeWalt’s site uses 3.6 kg. It is the premium bare cordless row here for XR owners who already budget for a DeWalt rail and a pack, not a first saw on a new platform.

Pros

  • Brushless 18 V XR at 5,500 rpm
  • Guide-rail compatible on DeWalt’s UK spec
  • 184 mm blade class
  • Fence and blade reported in UK reviews
  • 4.6 stars with rail-capable feedback

Cons

  • About £211.99 bare, with no battery or case
  • Depth not on the Amazon spec; DeWalt UK states 58 mm
  • Only 62 reviews on the listing
  • Conflicting weight lines on Amazon

Best for: DeWalt 18 V owners who want rail-compatible cordless sheet work.

Less suitable: First-time buyers with no packs, or deep corded-only rips without checking depth needs.

Common questions

Does the DCS572N include a battery or a case?

No. It is a bare unit. A UK review lists saw, fence, manual and one blade, and says there is no case.

What is the depth of cut?

The amazon.co.uk spec block does not state a depth. DeWalt’s UK page states 58 mm at 90° and 54 mm on their guide rail. Do not guess a figure from the blank Amazon cell.

Which weight figure is printed?

The item-weight line says 3.6 kg. The bullets say 5.15 kg. Both are on the listing. DeWalt’s site uses 3.6 kg.

GALAX PRO 1,400 W 185 mm

Rank 6

GALAX PRO 1,400 W 185 mm

∼£39

Our view

The GALAX PRO 76346-3 at £38.99 is a corded 1,400 W saw at 6,000 rpm with a 24-tooth wood blade, a rip guide and a stated 62 mm at 90° and 48 mm at 45°. At 4.3 from 245 amazon.co.uk reviews it has a stronger sample than the DEKOPRO rows at similar prices, without the same density of smoke and warp reports in the UK reviews read for this listing. The listing positions the included blade for wood, with PVC mentioned in the wider bullets, and a dust outlet for a vacuum without naming a hose size. It is not sold with a guide rail, so breaking down a full sheet still means a clamped factory edge or a batten. For a complete mains saw under £40 with a mid-sixty depth figure, it is the best value row here, provided you accept a budget brand and add your own straight-edge method for long cuts.

Pros

  • About £38.99 complete corded saw
  • 62 mm at 90° and 48 mm at 45° stated
  • 245 reviews at 4.3
  • 1,400 W and 6,000 rpm listed
  • Rip guide and dust port in the box

Cons

  • Wood-focused blade, not a multi-material kit
  • No guide rail
  • Budget brand with fewer trade references than DeWalt
  • Vacuum hose size not stated

Best for: General DIY timber cuts on the mains when you want depth without buying a battery.

Less suitable: Worktops and laminate where you need a track, or metal beyond the wood blade’s role.

Common questions

What can the included GALAX PRO blade cut?

The listing says the 24-tooth blade is for wood. The wider bullets also mention PVC.

What is the depth of cut?

62 mm at 90° and 48 mm at 45°, as printed.

Is there dust extraction?

A dust outlet for a vacuum is stated. The listing does not name the vacuum or the hose size. A port is not the same as extraction.

DEKOPRO 165 mm 1,200 W

Rank 7

DEKOPRO 165 mm 1,200 W

∼£37

Our view

The DEKOPRO 165 mm saw at £36.99 is the lowest shelf price in this capture, with 1,200 W, 4,800 rpm and a stated 55 mm at 90° and 33 mm at 45°. The box holds a 24-tooth blade, a straight guide and a hex wrench. At 4.3 from 183 reviews the star line looks similar to the 185 mm sibling, but at least one UK review says the base plate arrived warped so straight lines were not realistic, and kickback and smoke appear in the same file. The listing again prints 220 V. For sheet goods a twisted shoe defeats a laser or a fence, which is why this shelf price is not the best value row. It can still serve for rough cuts in soft material if you check the shoe on arrival and keep the guard free, but it is not the pick for furniture-grade edges or for buyers who need a flat shoe without inspection.

Pros

  • Lowest price in the set at about £36.99
  • 55 mm at 90° stated on a 165 mm blade
  • Guide and blade included
  • 183-review sample, larger than some budget rows

Cons

  • Warped shoe reported in a UK review
  • Kickback and smoke themes in reviews
  • 220 V spec line
  • Fence only, not a track

Best for: Rough softwood cuts when you will flatten or reject a bad shoe before use.

Less suitable: Sheet goods, worktops, or anyone who needs a trustworthy shoe out of the box.

Common questions

How deep is the DEKOPRO 165 mm?

The listing states 55 mm at 90° and 33 mm at 45°.

Did reviewers find the shoe flat?

One UK review says the base plate arrived warped, so straight lines were not realistic. That is one report, not a batch test.

What is in the box?

A 24-tooth 165 mm blade, a straight guide and a hex wrench.

DEKOPRO 185 mm 1,200 W

Rank 8

DEKOPRO 185 mm 1,200 W

∼£40

Our view

The DEKOPRO 185 mm listing at £39.99 is a 1,200 W corded saw with a 24-tooth carbide blade, a straight guide and a stated 65 mm at 90° and 43 mm at 45°. At 4.3 from 88 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits in the budget band with the other DEKOPRO and GALAX rows, but UK written reviews repeat kickback, smoke and early failure more often than on the GALAX PRO capture. The spec line prints 220 V rather than 230 V, which is a UK buyer check alongside the plug. The included guide is a side fence, not a rail, so long sheet rips still need a clamped batten. At 3.75 kg it is lighter than the DeWalt corded saws, and 4,800 rpm is stated. Treat it as an occasional DIY saw for softwood and PVC within the printed limits, not as a substitute for a named trade tool or for work where a binding cut would be dangerous.

Pros

  • About £39.99 with guide and blade in the box
  • 65 mm at 90° and 43 mm at 45° stated
  • 4,800 rpm and 1,200 W listed
  • Lighter than several corded rivals here

Cons

  • 220 V on the spec line
  • Kickback and smoke mentioned in UK reviews
  • Side guide only, not a track
  • Mixed reliability themes in the review file

Best for: Light cuts in softwood or PVC when budget is tight and you accept a thinner trust signal.

Less suitable: Thick hardwood, long rips without a batten, or any job where smoke or binding would be unacceptable.

Common questions

What does the DEKOPRO 185 mm cut?

The listing says wood and PVC, with 65 mm depth at 90° and 43 mm at 45°.

What voltage is printed?

The amazon.co.uk spec line says 220 V, not 230 V.

Is a guide in the box?

Yes. The included list is a 24-tooth blade, a straight guide and a hex wrench. That guide is a side fence, not a track.

Enventor 185 mm with laser

Rank 9

Enventor 185 mm with laser

∼£50

Our view

The Enventor 76331L at £49.99 is a 1,200 W corded 185 mm saw with a laser, a rip guide, a dust port and two blades, 24-tooth and 40-tooth, in the box. The listing limits use to soft materials such as laminate, dry wood, plastics, PVC and plasterboard, and explicitly excludes metal, stone and wet wood. At 4.2 from 738 amazon.co.uk reviews it has a mid-sized sample, with 62 mm at 90° stated and 5,800 rpm on the capture. UK reviewers note dead AAA cells on arrival for the laser, and at least one says the blade does not brake when the trigger is released. A laser helps you see a line but does not correct a bowed shoe, so sheet work still needs a clamped edge or a track saw. It fits DIY laminate and board work inside the stated material list, not site carpentry on wet timber or any metal cut.

Pros

  • 738 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.2
  • Laser, rip guide and two blades included
  • 62 mm at 90° stated
  • 40-tooth blade option for cleaner board cuts

Cons

  • Listing excludes metal, stone and wet wood
  • Laser cells dead on arrival in at least one UK review
  • No blade brake noted in a UK review
  • Laser is not a substitute for a rail

Best for: Dry board, laminate and PVC within the listing’s soft-material list.

Less suitable: Metal, wet timber, or long sheet rips without a separate straight edge.

Common questions

Can the Enventor cut metal?

No. The listing says soft materials such as laminate, dry wood, plastics, PVC and plasterboard, and tells you not to cut metal, stone or wet wood.

Does the laser work out of the box?

Two AAA cells are included. At least one UK review found them dead and fitted new cells before the line matched the cut.

Is there a blade brake?

A UK review says the blade does not brake when the switch is released. The spec table does not list a brake.

BLACK+DECKER CS1200-GB

Rank 10

BLACK+DECKER CS1200-GB

∼£43

Our view

The BLACK+DECKER CS1200-GB at £43.00 is a corded 1,200 W 165 mm saw with a parallel guide in the box and a stated 37 mm depth at 45°. The amazon.co.uk aggregate is 4.0 from 12 reviews, which is the thinnest star file in this comparison alongside the brushless DeWalt bare saw. A 90° depth is not printed on the listing, so you cannot compare it directly to the 55 mm and 65 mm figures on other rows without measuring yourself. One UK reviewer returned the saw and described the plastic blade guard as a risk if it were damaged and the tool kept in use. At 5.25 kg it is heavier than several 185 mm budget saws. It is a branded entry corded saw for light work when the depth you need fits what you can verify at 90°, not a default pick when the review count or the missing depth matters to you.

Pros

  • BLACK+DECKER CS1200-GB UK model
  • Parallel guide included
  • Complete corded saw at about £43.00
  • 37 mm at 45° stated

Cons

  • Only 12 reviews on the listing
  • No 90° depth printed
  • Guard concern in a UK review
  • Heavier than some 185 mm rivals

Best for: Light DIY when you can confirm 90° depth on the workpiece yourself.

Less suitable: Buyers who need a printed depth spec or a large review sample.

What depth does the CS1200-GB state?

The bullets state up to 37 mm at 45°. A 90° depth is not printed.

How many amazon.co.uk reviews does it have?

The listing line is 4.0 from 12 reviews.

What did buyers say about the guard?

One reviewer returned the saw and called the plastic blade guard a risk if it were damaged and the saw kept in use.

How we compared

Shelf prices, stars and review counts are the amazon.co.uk listings captured for these ten saws on 20 October 2026, plus the review themes on those listings. Products Compared did not lab-test these saws. HSE wood-dust limits apply at work; they are not a product score. Weights sum to 100. The highest score is the top pick, once. Best value is the best remaining complete saw with a stated depth and a usable review file after that award is used, once. The lowest price does not win when kickback, smoke or a warped shoe repeats in UK reviews.

1

Amazon evidence

30%

Star rating on amazon.co.uk, then review count. Under 25 reviews the block is cut heavily; under 100 it is cut moderately. No star line scores zero on this block.

2

Listing fit

35%

Stated depth at 90°, voltage that matches UK mains or a clear 18 V bare line, blade diameter and bore, and whether the straight-cut aid matches the claim. A missing 90° depth, 220 V on a UK listing, conflicting weight lines, or a bare tool that hides the missing battery are deducted.

3

Review outcome

20%

Repeated job names, such as sheet goods, decking or oak, and repeated faults, such as smoke, a warped shoe, a guard or a track join. A thin file cannot score like a file of 1,000 reviews.

4

Value

15%

Shelf price in GBP for what you can actually cut with. A complete corded saw scores higher than a bare body at a similar sticker. The lowest price does not score when kickback, smoke or a warped shoe repeats.

Circular saw buying guide

Buy depth and a complete kit before the lowest sticker. These ten amazon.co.uk listings are not one circular saw. Corded saws from about £36.99 to £116.00 include a mains motor. Three 18 V rows are bare, so the battery is a separate cost. The top pick is the Evolution track kit. Best value is the GALAX PRO, a complete corded saw, not the cheaper DEKOPRO. A side fence is not a guide rail. The score uses amazon.co.uk evidence, listing fit, review outcomes and value. It is not a laboratory cut.

What is a circular saw?

A circular saw, in this comparison, is a hand-held power saw with a round blade and a shoe. You use it for timber and sheet goods, and for other materials only when that saw and that blade say so. It is not a plunge saw, and it is not a mitre saw. Bench-saw rules, including the riving-knife distances in HSE’s L114, are for saw benches. They are not the setup procedure for these shoes. Corded general-purpose saws in the 165–190 mm class suit a bench near a socket.

Best for

  • Occasional DIY beside a mains socket
  • Straight sheet and worktop cuts when a track is in the box

Not ideal for

  • Structural timber or metal beyond the stated blade
  • Pricing a bare 18 V body as a complete saw

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Pricing a bare tool as a complete saw

The Ryobi R18CSP-0, the DeWalt DCS391 and the DeWalt DCS572N are sold without a battery and without a charger. The shelf price is not the cost of the first cut unless you already own that platform. A corded saw at about £43 can be the cheaper way to make a cut.

  2. 2

Cutting metal with a wood-only blade

The GALAX PRO blade in the box is for wood. Enventor’s listing excludes metal, stone and wet wood. Only Evolution’s shop page states a mild-steel limit, about 3 mm, with the supplied multi-material blade. Match the blade to the material the source names.

  3. 3

Trusting a laser or a short fence for a full sheet

A side fence guides a rip near an edge. A laser shows a line and does not flatten a twisted shoe. Only the Evolution includes a 1,020 mm track. Furniture-straight sheet cuts need that rail or a clamped straight edge, with the sheet supported.

What to weigh up

Depth at 90° and what the blade may cut

High

Depth at 90° is the first check, set against the thickest piece you will cut. In this set the stated figures run from 45 mm on the Ryobi 150 mm saw to 68 mm on the DeWalt DWE5615-GB with a 190 mm blade. A bevel reduces that depth, and a track under the shoe reduces it too. Evolution’s UK shop page states 64 mm free and 59 mm on its track. The amazon.co.uk listing prints 0–64 mm and does not repeat the on-track figure. The DeWalt DCS572N listing leaves depth blank.

Corded or bare, and how you guide the cut

High

Corded or bare cordless is a cost question, not a sticker question. Corded saws on the credible listings here are 1,200 to 1,600 W and ready to cut beside a socket. The Ryobi R18CSP-0 at about £76.95, the DeWalt DCS391 at about £95.00 and the DeWalt DCS572N at about £211.99 are bare. None includes a battery or a charger. Price the pack, or do not call the bare tool cheaper than a corded saw at about £43. Guidance is the other half.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Occasional DIY near a socket

You cut a few times a year beside a mains socket and you do not already own an 18 V pack. A complete corded saw around £40 to £90 fits that job. The GALAX PRO at about £38.99 states 62 mm at 90° and has 4.3 from 245 reviews. It is not a track kit, and it is not the cheaper DEKOPRO.

Existing 18 V platform

You already own DeWalt 18 V packs. The DCS391 at about £95.00 is a bare 165 mm saw with 55 mm stated and 4.7 from 1,250 reviews. The battery is extra, and a UK review says it is not track compatible. If your packs are Ryobi ONE+, the matching body in this set is the R18CSP-0, not this DeWalt.

Named saw for regular cuts

You want a named corded saw rather than a sub-£50 listing whose reviews mention smoke, early failure or a guard a buyer rejected. The Evolution R185CCSX at about £116.00 includes a 1,020 mm track and has 1,032 reviews. The brushless DCS572N is the cordless trade body here, still bare, at about £211.99.

Common questions about Circular saws

Which circular saw is the top pick in 2026?
The top pick is the Evolution R185CCSX, ASIN B07HJDTMQC, at about £116.00. It has the highest score in this set, 88, with 4.6 from 1,032 amazon.co.uk reviews. It is the only listing here with a 1,020 mm three-piece track, and the listing states 64 mm at 90°. Evolution’s shop page states 59 mm on that track. The bullets say an EU plug, and a UK review says a 13 A plug arrived, so check the carton.
How much does a circular saw cost on amazon.co.uk?
In this set the stored prices run from about £36.99 to about £211.99. Entry corded saws are about £36.99 to £49.99. The DeWalt DWE5615-GB is about £89.00 and the Evolution track kit is about £116.00. Bare compact 18 V saws are the Ryobi at about £76.95 and the DeWalt DCS391 at about £95.00. The bare brushless DeWalt DCS572N is about £211.99. Those three prices exclude a battery and a charger. The lowest sticker is not the best value row.
What should you check before you buy a circular saw?
Check depth at 90° against the thickest piece you will cut, then whether the saw is corded or a bare 18 V body, then what the blade may cut. Stated depths here run from 45 mm to 68 mm. A bevel and a track both reduce depth. Only the Evolution includes a 1,020 mm track. A side fence is not that rail. UK mains are 230 V with a BS 1363 plug. Both DEKOPRO listings print 220 V.
Is a corded circular saw a better buy than a cordless one?
It depends on the socket and the battery you already own. Corded saws here are complete tools at 1,200 to 1,600 W. The Ryobi R18CSP-0, DeWalt DCS391 and DeWalt DCS572N are bare 18 V bodies, so the shelf price is not the cost of the first cut. A mains saw is the simpler buy beside a socket. A bare saw suits short cuts if you already own the pack. Cordless models are on the cordless circular saw page.
Can these circular saws cut metal?
Only when that saw and that blade say so. Evolution’s shop page allows mild steel to about 3 mm with the supplied multi-material blade. Enventor’s listing limits the saw to soft materials and excludes metal, stone and wet wood. The GALAX PRO blade in the box is for wood. A wood-only blade on steel is a mistake. Metal past the stated thickness needs a professional, or a saw sold for metal.
Is a side fence enough for cutting sheet goods?
Not for a furniture-straight cut across a full sheet. A side fence guides a rip near an edge. Only the Evolution R185CCSX in this set includes a 1,020 mm three-piece track. A laser does not flatten a twisted shoe. One UK review of the £36.99 DEKOPRO says the base plate arrived warped. For ply and worktops, use the track or a clamped straight edge, and support the offcut.
What plug and voltage should a UK circular saw have?
UK mains are 230 V and the plug should be BS 1363. A new saw should have English instructions and UKCA or CE marking. GOV.UK says CE marking remains recognised in Great Britain. Both DEKOPRO listings print 220 V. Evolution’s bullets say EU plug, while a UK review on that ASIN says a 13 A plug arrived. Do not treat either line as true of every carton. Check the plug before first use.
When should you stop and call a professional?
Call a professional for structural timber, for workplace cuts you are not trained to do, and for metal beyond the thickness the saw and blade state. Stop using a saw whose guard sticks, which smokes, or which has shed a part. PUWER 1998 applies at work, and wood dust is a COSHH issue. HSE’s eight-hour limits are 3 mg/m³ for hardwood and 5 mg/m³ for softwood. Do not dry-sweep MDF dust. A high star line is not a safety certificate.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Evolution R185CCSX, because it is the only saw in this set sold with a 1,020 mm track, at about £116.00 with 4.6 from 1,032 reviews. Best value is the GALAX PRO, a complete corded saw at about £38.99 with 62 mm stated at 90° and 245 reviews. The £36.99 DEKOPRO is cheaper, and UK reviews mention a warped shoe, kickback and smoke, so the lowest sticker is not the value pick. Bare 18 V prices exclude the battery.
