Single room heat recovery comparison 2026

The best single room heat recovery units, compared.

Top pick: Envirovoid heat recovery fan Best value: LIRAST EER100 white – Lowest shelf price at about £123.12, with a wall switch in the box and the largest review file, 3.9 from 182. Updated October 2026.

You are usually treating condensation, mould or a stuffy bedroom in a flat or an older house, without ducts to every room. Most of these twelve amazon.co.uk listings are push-pull ceramic fans that reverse about every 65 to 70 seconds. The / is a 12 V humidistat fan. Match the core to the drill, the sleeve to the wall, and the stated airflow to the room. The controller has to be in the box. An IP oLV rating matters in a bath or shower room. Up to 90 percent and 5 dB are listing claims, not a test we ran. Hole size and airflow are in the [single room heat recovery buying guide](/hub/heating/single-room-heat-recovery/sub/single-room-heat-recovery-buying-guide). A single room heat recovery unit extracts stale or moist air and brings outdoor air in through one outside wall. Heat from the outgoing air warms the incoming air. The job is one wet room, one bedroom, or a loft-ducted pair of rooms. A single push-pull hole is not whole-house ventilation.

You are usually treating condensation, mould or a stuffy bedroom in a flat or an older house, without ducts to every room.

The best single room heat recovery units in detail

Envirovoid heat recovery fan

Rank 1

Envirovoid heat recovery fan

∼£360

Our view

Envirovoid's single-room unit at about £360 claims up to 90% recovery, a remote, a 100–160 mm core and HEPA wording at 99.7% without a filter class code. The amazon.co.uk line is 5.0 from three reviews. Two UK reviews praise the look, quiet running and less morning condensation, and neither states a fault. That is an early compliment, not a reliability record. Airflow, wattage and voltage are absent, and a capacity field of 30 cubic centimetres is not an airflow. The brand field says Generic while the manufacturer field says Envirovoid. The room type is bedroom, with no IP rating. A 20 dB low-mode claim has no test distance on the saved listing.

Pros

  • Two UK reviews mention quiet running and less morning condensation
  • Remote and a claimed core of 100–160 mm
  • Three speeds claimed
  • Up to 90% recovery stated on the listing

Cons

  • Only three reviews, so the 5.0 score is an early signal
  • No airflow, wattage or voltage on the saved listing
  • HEPA is claimed without a filter class code
  • Bedroom room type, no IP rating, and the brand field says Generic

Best for: A bedroom with a confirmed core between 100 and 160 mm, if you accept three reviews and will check airflow after fitting

Less suitable: Any project that needs a stated extract rate, a named filter standard, or a wet-area mark

Common questions

How many UK reviews are on the listing?

The listing line is 5.0 from 3. Two UK reviews praise looks, quiet running and less morning condensation. Neither states a fault. That is an early signal, not a track record.

Is the brand field Envirovoid?

The brand field says Generic. The manufacturer field says Envirovoid. Confirm the name on the unit that arrives.

Is an airflow rate shown?

No. A capacity field of 30 cubic centimetres is on the saved listing and is not treated as airflow. You cannot set this row against a litres-per-second target.

Brookvent ONE+ 100

Rank 2

Brookvent ONE+ 100

∼£380

Our view

Brookvent's Aircycle ONE+ 100 at about £379.99 is the row that puts a remote controller with an LCD in the box and states IPX4 for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. The listing claims up to 82% recovery and a two-year warranty. Airflow is given as a family line of 6, 8, 11, 14 and 17 litres per second, worded across the models, so confirm the 100 mm steps in the manual before you drill. Two reviews average 5.0 stars. One UK review describes quiet running in a cellar and humidity under 65% when a dehumidifier was also running, so the fan did not do that job alone. The noise field of 10 dB and a voltage field of 2.0 are not measurements you should plan from. At this price you are paying for the controller and the IPX4 line, on a very short review history.

Pros

  • Controller with an LCD is included, unlike the ONE 100 and ONE 150
  • IPX4 stated for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms
  • Up to 82% recovery and a two-year warranty stated
  • One UK review found it quiet in a cellar

Cons

  • Only two reviews, so the 5.0 score is not a track record
  • The humidity result was alongside a dehumidifier
  • A 10 dB field and a voltage field of 2.0 are not credible measurements
  • About £379.99 is the highest shelf price in this set

Best for: A wet-area external wall where you want IPX4 in writing and the Brookvent controller supplied in the box

Less suitable: Tight budgets, and any room where two reviews are not enough before you spend about £379.99

Common questions

Is the controller included?

The title and bullets say it is included. That is the difference from the ONE 100 and the ONE 150 in this set, which UK reviews say omit the switch.

Is an IP rating stated?

The bullet says IPX4 for wet areas including bathrooms and kitchens. It is the only IPX4 line in this twelve.

What is in the UK review?

One review: quiet in a cellar, and humidity under 65% when used with a dehumidifier. The listing count is 2. The fan did not do that humidity job alone.

Kair K-HRV150/12RH

Rank 3

Kair K-HRV150/12RH

∼£324

Our view

The Kair K-HRV150/12RH is a 12 V through-wall fan at about £323.94 with a humidistat, a pull cord and a stated 152 mm core. The listing gives 19 cubic metres per hour and up to 86% heat recovery, and 109 amazon.co.uk reviews sit at 4.2 stars. Longer UK reviews praise damp control and shower steam, with boost noisier than the trickle speed, and one small room showed little change in CO2. A buyer whose outside wall was about 3 m away bought an extension pack at £41.17 with delivery, so the standard sleeve is not a long duct. The listing says both 12 V and a BS 1363 connector, with hard-wiring required, so an electrician should reconcile that before you fix the grille. Bathroom use and a waterproof feature are named, but no IP number is in the Amazon table. Kair's own page states IP57 on the wall unit and IP30 on the transformer.

Pros

  • Humidistat and pull cord on a 152 mm unit
  • 109 reviews at 4.2 stars
  • Stated 19 cubic metres per hour and up to 86% recovery
  • UK reviews credit it with damp control and shower steam

Cons

  • Boost is noisier than the trickle speed
  • One small room showed little CO2 change
  • A wall of about 3 m needed a £41.17 extension pack
  • 12 V and a BS 1363 line conflict, and the Amazon table has no IP number

Best for: One bathroom or bedroom with an external wall, where you will hard-wire a 12 V humidistat fan and accept a noisier boost

Less suitable: Long wall build-ups without the extension pack, plug-in installs, and walls outside the manufacturer's roughly 229–356 mm range

Common questions

Is the fan itself on mains voltage?

The listing says 12 volts and also lists a BS 1363 connector, with hard-wiring required. Both lines are kept because they conflict. An electrician should reconcile them before you fix the grille.

Does it include a long duct?

A UK review bought an extension pack because the outside wall was about 3 m away. The pack price in that review was £41.17 with delivery. The standard sleeve is not a long duct.

What do the longer UK reviews say?

Damp and shower steam are the usual praise. Boost is noisier than trickle, and one small room showed little CO2 change. The star line is 4.2 from 109 reviews.

Weiworld VT501-WF

Rank 4

Weiworld VT501-WF

∼£240

Our view

Weiworld's VT501-WF is a 150 mm unit at about £239.99 with a Tuya app, a remote, three speeds and a stated 35 cubic feet per minute, about 16.5 l/s. Thirty-five amazon.co.uk reviews average 4.2 stars. UK text in the reviews praises humidity control in a studio. Early failure reports in the same reviews are marked as reviewed in the United States, so do not read them as UK delivery experience. Heat recovery is claimed at up to 90%. The room-type list covers a bedroom, office, children's room, living room and study, omits a bathroom, and shows no IP rating. A timer is asked about in the listing questions and is absent from the specification table. The supply line is 230 V with a 3-pin connector, which is the right plug language for the UK and still worth checking on the unit that arrives.

Pros

  • Tuya app and remote in the box
  • 35 reviews at 4.2 stars
  • UK comments praise humidity control in a studio
  • 230 V and a 3-pin connector are stated

Cons

  • Room type omits a bathroom, and no IP rating is shown
  • Airflow is given as 35 cubic feet per minute, not litres per second
  • A timer is asked about and is not on the specification table
  • Failure notes marked as United States reviews, so the UK sample is narrower than 35

Best for: A studio or bedroom where you want app control and will keep United States failure notes out of the UK judgement

Less suitable: Shower rooms, buyers who need a litres-per-second figure on the page, and anyone who wants a timer confirmed on the spec table

Common questions

Is a timer listed?

The listing questions ask about a timer. The specification table does not show one. Do not assume a schedule until the live page prints it.

Can the spec confirm a bathroom?

Room type lists bedroom, office, kids' room, living room and study. There is no IP rating. A missing bathroom word is not a splash rating either.

Are the failure reports from the UK?

UK text in the reviews praises humidity control in a studio. Early failures in the same reviews are marked as reviewed in the United States, so the UK sample is narrower than 35.

LIRAST EER100 white

Rank 5

LIRAST EER100 white

∼£123

Our view

The white LIRAST EER100 is a 100 mm push-pull ceramic fan at about £123.12, with a wall switch, two filters and a telescopic sleeve stated at 300–555 mm. Across 182 amazon.co.uk reviews at 3.9 stars, buyers say the room stays warmer than with a window open. That review text is shared with the anthracite ASIN, so do not treat the two counts as separate households. The listing claims up to 85% heat recovery and does not state an airflow in litres per second. A UK review found a 275 mm wall a difficult fit, which matches the 300 mm lower end of the sleeve. Noise is a complaint in a large kitchen-diner, and one power board failed after about eight months. Bathroom wording is on the page, but no IP rating is printed.

Pros

  • Wall switch and two filters are stated
  • About £123.12 with 182 reviews at 3.9 stars
  • Telescopic duct stated at 300–555 mm
  • Reviewers say the room stays warmer than an open window

Cons

  • No airflow figure on the listing
  • No IP rating, despite bathroom wording
  • A 275 mm wall was a difficult fit in a UK review
  • Noise in a large kitchen-diner, and a power-board failure after about eight months

Best for: One bedroom or living room with an external wall of 300–555 mm, where you want a switched ceramic fan at the lower price in this table

Less suitable: Shower zones that need an IP rating, walls under 300 mm, and large kitchen-diners where reviewers found it loud

Common questions

Will this fit a wall under 300 mm?

The listing states a telescopic duct of 300–555 mm. A UK review describes a 275 mm wall as a difficult fit. Measure the wall before you order this sleeve.

Is a bathroom IP rating shown?

The bullets use bathroom wording. The saved listing has no IP rating. Do not treat the room-type word as a wet-zone mark.

What do UK reviews repeat?

The room can stay warmer than an open window. Noise in a large kitchen-diner and a power-board failure after about eight months are also in the reviews. The 182-review count matches the anthracite ASIN.

LIRAST EER100 anthracite

Rank 6

LIRAST EER100 anthracite

∼£139

Our view

The anthracite LIRAST EER100 follows the same 100 mm ceramic pattern at about £139.15, with the same 300–555 mm sleeve and a wall switch. The amazon.co.uk line is 3.9 from 182 reviews, and the opening review text matches the white ASIN, so this is not a second sample of 182 people. You pay about £16 more for the darker grille. Airflow is not stated, heat recovery is listed as up to 85%, and there is still no IP number. The same 275 mm wall complaint appears on this listing. The noise field prints 45 dB on one line and 27/32 dB(A) at 3 m on another, so use the manual rather than the second line. Choose anthracite when the external colour matters.

Pros

  • Same 300–555 mm sleeve and wall switch as the white LIRAST
  • Anthracite grille when the external colour matters
  • Two filters stated
  • 3.9 from 182 reviews, shared with the white listing

Cons

  • About £16 more than the white ASIN for the same review text
  • No stated airflow and no IP rating
  • A 275 mm wall is a difficult fit on the shared review
  • The listing's noise figures disagree with each other

Best for: An external wall of 300–555 mm where the anthracite grille is the reason to pay more than the white LIRAST

Less suitable: Buyers who only want the lower price, shower zones without an IP mark, and walls thinner than 300 mm

Common questions

Is this a separate review sample from the white LIRAST?

The listing shows 3.9 from 182 reviews and the same opening review text as the white ASIN. Do not add the two counts together.

How thick a wall does the duct need?

The bullet states 300–555 mm. The same UK review about a 275 mm wall appears on this ASIN. A thinner wall is a known miss.

Does the listing show an IP rating?

No IP number is on the saved listing. Bathroom wording on the sister ASIN is not a rating on this one either.

EUROPLAST EER150S

Rank 7

EUROPLAST EER150S

∼£190

Our view

EUROPLAST's 150 mm unit at about £189.90 states 29 cubic metres per hour, about 8.1 l/s, includes a wall switch, and carries 70 reviews at 3.9 stars. Two UK reviews say it moves air and held a few degrees of heat, the switch legend was reversed, and an office install was louder than expected. The listing prints both up to 85% and 90% recovery, and both a Type G and a Schuko plug, so the listing does not tell you which plug arrives. The room type is bathroom, with no IP rating. The model field disagrees with itself, showing EER150S in one place and EER100 in another. At 1.8 W the electrical load looks small, while the 35 dB noise line has no distance you can set against the office complaint.

Pros

  • Stated airflow of 29 cubic metres per hour
  • Wall switch included
  • 70 reviews at 3.9 stars
  • UK comments say it moves air and holds a few degrees of heat

Cons

  • Type G and Schuko both appear, so the plug is unresolved
  • Switch legend reversed in a UK review
  • Louder than expected in an office
  • No IP rating, and the model name conflicts on the page

Best for: A single room labelled as a bathroom, where you want a 150 mm ceramic unit with a switch in the box and a stated 29 cubic metres per hour

Less suitable: Shower zones that need an IP mark, buyers who need a confirmed UK plug before ordering, and quiet offices if 35 dB is the only noise evidence

Common questions

Does it come with a UK plug?

One line says Type G and another says Schuko plug. The saved listing does not resolve that. Check the unit that arrives before you plan the socket.

Is it rated for a bathroom zone?

The room type is bathroom. No IP rating is shown. A room-type word is not IPX4.

What do the UK reviews say?

Two UK reviews: it moves air and held a few degrees of heat, the switch legend was reversed, and it was louder than expected in an office. The star line is 3.9 from 70 reviews.

Vent-Axia HR100R

Rank 8

Vent-Axia HR100R

∼£319

Our view

Vent-Axia's HR100R at about £319 is the ducted loft box in this set, not a ceramic through-wall sleeve. The bullet states 18 litres per second FID, with two speeds labelled continuous and boost, and bathrooms and bedrooms are named. Only six reviews sit at 3.8 stars. One UK buyer called it a compact retrofit that kept a small bathroom dry. Another received a bent condensate drain because the packaging was cardboard only. Heat-recovery percentage, wattage, voltage, filter and IP rating are not on the saved listing. You need a loft route, a condensate fall and duct runs before this price makes sense. A single external wall with no loft is a poor match for this architecture.

Pros

  • 18 litres per second FID is stated
  • Two speeds, continuous and boost
  • One UK review credits a dry small bathroom
  • Loft top access, so the core is not drilled through the wet room

Cons

  • Only six reviews at 3.8 stars
  • Condensate drain arrived bent in cardboard-only packaging
  • Heat-recovery percentage, power and IP rating are not stated
  • No use if you cannot run ducts to the room

Best for: A loft retrofit to one shower room or small bathroom, where you will plan ducts and condensate before the box arrives

Less suitable: Flats with one external wall and no loft, and buyers who need a heat-recovery percentage on the listing

Common questions

Is this a through-wall ceramic fan?

The listing describes loft top access, two speeds and 18 l/s FID. It does not mention a ceramic reversing core or a core-drill size. Treat it as a ducted loft box.

What did UK buyers say?

One review calls it a compact retrofit that kept a small bathroom dry. Another says the condensate drain arrived bent because the box was cardboard only. The star line is 3.8 from six reviews.

Is wattage or voltage shown?

Neither wattage nor voltage is on the saved listing. Do not guess a circuit from the price.

Brookvent ONE 100

Rank 9

Brookvent ONE 100

∼£205

Our view

Brookvent's Aircycle ONE 100 at about £204.99 is a 100 mm ceramic unit with a 70-second cycle and up to 82% recovery claimed. Four reviews average 3.8 stars. Included components say one unit. UK reviews say the wall switch is extra, about £40 in one review, and was not sold on Amazon. The bullet lists 3, 4 and 7 litres per second, while another line says 17 litres per second, so the airflow is not settled on the page. The noise field says 5 dB and the voltage field says 5, which is not a pair of measurements you can plan from. A review mentions a click every cycle, which matches the reversal. Habitable-room bullets and no IP rating keep it out of a shower zone unless the manual says otherwise.

Pros

  • Stated cycle of about 70 seconds and up to 82% recovery
  • Built-in dust filter and a tool-free cover
  • Low stated power of 1.2 W
  • A review notes the click, so the reversal is audible before you buy

Cons

  • Wall switch is not in the box; about £40 extra in one UK review
  • Airflow is printed as both 3/4/7 litres per second and 17 litres per second
  • A 5 dB field and a voltage field of 5 are not usable measurements
  • Only four reviews, and no IP rating

Best for: A habitable room where you will buy a Brookvent controller separately and can live with a click each cycle

Less suitable: A checkout with no controller budget, shower zones, and anyone who needs one agreed airflow figure

Common questions

Is the wall switch in the box?

Included components say 1 unit. UK reviews say the switch is extra, about £40 in one review, and not sold on Amazon. Budget the controller before you drill.

Which airflow figure should you use?

The bullet lists 3, 4 and 7 l/s for the ONE 100. Another line says 17 l/s. The listing does not settle which figure to use, so keep both and read the manual.

Is 5 dB a room measurement?

It is the listing field. The same table's voltage field says 5. A review mentions a click every cycle. Do not plan a bedroom on the 5 dB line.

LINGGONGAIR VT125-WIFI

Rank 10

LINGGONGAIR VT125-WIFI

∼£217

Our view

The LINGGONGAIR VT125-WIFI is a 125 mm unit at about £216.54 with a stated 60 cubic metres per hour, about 16.7 l/s, 12 W, a Tuya app and a remote. Twelve reviews average 3.7 stars. Reviews describe the app and the remote, and some mention easy installation and quiet airflow, though several read like listing copy rather than use. One UK review still had morning window condensation after three weeks. Heat recovery is not given as a percentage. Bathroom appears in the room type, and no IP rating is shown. The depth line is 39.9 cm, so measure the wall before you order a 125 mm core. Noise is listed at 45 dB, which is the high end of the noise fields in this table.

Pros

  • Stated airflow of 60 cubic metres per hour
  • App and remote both described in reviews
  • Washable filter and a pre-filter stated
  • 240 V corded supply

Cons

  • One UK review still had morning window condensation after three weeks
  • No heat-recovery percentage on the listing
  • No IP rating
  • Several reviews read like listing copy, and 45 dB is a high noise field

Best for: A smaller room with wall depth near 40 cm, where 60 cubic metres per hour and phone control match the plan

Less suitable: A bathroom that needs an IP rating, and a cold window you expect this fan to clear in the first weeks

Common questions

Can it be controlled from a phone?

No IP rating is on the saved listing. A bathroom word in the room type is not IPX4.

LINGGONGAIR's VT100 at about £159.60 is a plug-in unit, 125 mm in the title and 10–16 cm in the opening fields, with a remote, 5 W and 240 V. Five reviews average 3.6 stars. UK reviews confirm a UK plug and call the unit compact and not overly powerful. No airflow figure is stated, and heat recovery is not given as a percentage. The room type is bedroom, the questions mention a bathroom, and there is no IP rating, so a plug does not make it a shower-zone fan. A washable core and a pre-filter are claimed. At this price it is a modest single-room trial, not a measured extract rate you can set against Part F.

Pros

  • Plug-in 240 V supply, and UK reviews confirm a UK plug
  • Compact size, with 5 W and 28 dB on the spec lines
  • Remote control
  • Lower shelf price than the Wi-Fi 125 mm row

Cons

  • No airflow figure on the listing
  • Only five reviews at 3.6 stars
  • Reviewers call it not overly powerful
  • Bedroom room type and no IP rating

Best for: A bedroom with an external wall and a nearby socket, where you expect a gentle airflow rather than a shower boost

Less suitable: Shower rooms, and any job that needs a stated litres-per-second rate before you drill

Common questions

Does it need an electrician?

The bullets say it plugs in, and UK reviews confirm a UK plug. That does not cover a bathroom zone or a new circuit.

Is a bathroom rating shown?

The questions ask about a bathroom. The room type field says bedroom, and there is no IP rating. A plug is not a shower-zone mark.

How much air does it move?

No airflow figure is on the saved listing. Reviews call it compact and not overly powerful. You cannot set it against a litres-per-second target from this page.

Brookvent ONE 150

Rank 12

Brookvent ONE 150

∼£239

Our view

Brookvent's Aircycle ONE 150 at about £239 is a 150 mm ceramic unit with a 70-second cycle and bullet speeds of 6, 11 and 17 litres per second. Heat recovery is listed as up to 82%, with a built-in dust filter and a tool-free cover. The only amazon.co.uk review is 1.0 star: the switch was not in the box, the extra was about £53.20, and that buyer's total landed near £293.20. The noise field says 5 dB and the voltage field says 5, the same unusable pattern as on the ONE 100 page. A waterproof feature is named and no IP number is shown. Unless you have already priced a compatible controller, the ONE+ row is the Brookvent unit that states the controller in the box.

Pros

  • Bullet airflow of 6, 11 and 17 litres per second for the 150 mm model
  • Up to 82% recovery stated
  • Built-in dust filter and a tool-free cover
  • 150 mm core when that hole is already planned

Cons

  • The only review is 1.0 star because the switch was missing
  • About £53.20 extra for a controller in that review
  • A 5 dB field and a voltage field of 5 are not usable
  • No IP number, despite a waterproof feature

Best for: A 150 mm wall opening you have already planned, if the controller is in your hand or on order before you drill

Less suitable: Anyone buying on the star rating, bedrooms that would trust the 5 dB line, and shower zones without an IP number

Common questions

Why is the rating 1.0 from 1 review?

The only UK review says the switch was not in the box and quotes about £53.20 extra, taking the buyer's total to about £293.20. That is the whole review file.

Which speed set is the 150 mm unit?

The bullet lists the ONE 150 at 6, 11 and 17 l/s, and the ONE 100 at 3, 4 and 7 l/s. Use the 150 mm set for this ASIN.

Is 5 dB on the specification line a test result?

It is the listing field, with no distance. The voltage field on the same table says 5. Do not use either figure as a room measurement.

How we compared

Twelve amazon.co.uk listings are kept, from cards saved on 20 October 2026. The score maps the star line toward 100, then deducts for a thin review file and for a missing airflow. Those points are scaled to the 1–10 rating on each row. There is no lab test. A recovery percentage or a 5 dB line is the seller's text. The top pick is the Kair K-HRV150/12RH: 4.2 from 109 reviews, the same 84-point star map as the Weiworld, and a humidistat in the box. Best value is the white LIRAST at about £123.12, the lowest shelf price here, with a wall switch and 3.9 from 182 reviews. That 182-count matches the anthracite ASIN, so it is one file, not two.

1

Amazon stars

62%

The star line comes from the amazon.co.uk file for that ASIN. The Kair and the Weiworld are 4.2. Both LIRAST colours and the EUROPLAST are 3.9. The ONE+ and the Envirovoid show 5.0 from two and three reviews, so the average is not treated as a long record. The ONE 150 is 1.0 from one review.

2

Review depth

16%

Review count is scored separately from the star average. The shared LIRAST file has 182 reviews, the Kair 109, the EUROPLAST 70 and the Weiworld 35. The Vent-Axia has six, the VT100 five, the ONE 100 four, the Envirovoid three, the ONE+ two and the ONE 150 one. A thin file cannot take the full depth block. The two LIRAST colours are not counted as 364 separate reviews.

3

Listing fit

14%

Airflow, core size, the controller in the box, and a wet-area mark should be readable on the listing. A missing litres-per-second line, a Brookvent controller sold separately, a voltage field of 5 or 2.0, or a bathroom word with no IP rating loses points. The ONE+ is the only row whose bullet states IPX4.

4

Shelf price

8%

The GBP shelf price is read against a page you could act on, from about £123.12 to about £379.99. The lowest price is the white LIRAST, and that is the best-value row because the switch is in the box and the review file is the largest. The ONE+ at about £379.99 is the highest price in the set.

Single room heat recovery buying guide

A single room heat recovery unit serves one outside wall. The decision is the core and the wall thickness, then airflow in litres per second, then whether the controller and a wet-area mark are actually in the listing. Prices and stars here are amazon.co.uk cards saved on 20 October 2026. This is not a lab test, and a recovery percentage on the title is a listing claim.

What is single room heat recovery?

A single room heat recovery unit extracts stale or moist air and brings outdoor air in through one outside wall. Heat from the outgoing air warms the incoming air. The job is one wet room, one bedroom, or a loft-ducted pair of rooms. A single push-pull hole is not whole-house ventilation. Most units here are push-pull ceramic fans. One fan reverses through one core, about every 65 to 70 seconds on the Brookvent lines. A pair of holes balances a flat better than one.

Best for

  • One damp room with an outside wall you can drill, once the sleeve matches the wall
  • A loft retrofit to one shower room when you can run a short duct and a condensate fall

Not ideal for

  • A whole flat that needs supply air in every habitable room
  • A shower zone bought on a bathroom label and no IP rating

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Buying on a recovery percentage

Up to 90, 86, 85 or 82 percent are listing claims. This page did not measure a core. A title percentage is not a cut in the heating bill and not proof of Part F.

  2. 2

Ignoring the wall and the controller

LIRAST's sleeve starts at about 300 mm. Brookvent ONE 100 and ONE 150 omit the controller. UK reviews cite about £40 and about £53.20 extra. The ONE+ is the Brookvent row that includes one.

  3. 3

Reading a bathroom label as IPX4

Only the ONE+ bullet states IPX4. Kair's manufacturer page states IP57 on the wall unit, and the Amazon table does not. A 230 V fan in zones 1 and 2 needs at least IPX4. A fan does not repair a leak.

What to weigh up

Core, wall and airflow

High

The drill has to match the core: 100 mm on the LIRAST and the Brookvent 100 mm rows, 125 mm on the VT100 and VT125, 150 mm on EUROPLAST, Weiworld and the ONE 150, and 152 mm on the Kair. Envirovoid claims a 100–160 mm core. LIRAST's telescopic tube is about 300–555 mm. Kair's own page is about 229–356 mm, and a 3 m wall in a UK review needed a £41.17 extension pack. Compare airflow in litres per second.

Control, wet zones and noise

High

LIRAST and EUROPLAST include a wall switch. Kair has a humidistat and a pull cord, on a 12 V supply, with hard-wiring required and a BS 1363 line that conflicts. The VT100 plugs in, and UK reviews confirm a UK plug. Weiworld and the VT125 add a Tuya app. The ONE 100 and ONE 150 omit the controller. The ONE+ includes an LCD remote and states IPX4. A bathroom word is not a rating. IET guidance is that a 230 V fan in zones 1 and 2 needs at least IPX4, with the isolator outside zones 0–2.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

One damp room

You have an outside wall and condensation or a stuffy room, and you do not want ducts to the rest of the flat. The Kair K-HRV150/12RH is the top pick at about £323.94: a 152 mm core, a humidistat and a pull cord, and 4.2 from 109 reviews. The listing states 19 m³/h, about 5.3 l/s. Boost is noisier than trickle, and a wall of about 3 m needed an extension pack.

Lower-price bedroom

You want a switched ceramic fan on a bedroom wall and you will check the thickness first. The white LIRAST is best value at about £123.12 if the wall is about 300–555 mm. It is a 100 mm unit with a wall switch and 3.9 from 182 reviews. That count matches the anthracite listing. There is no airflow figure and no IP rating. A 275 mm wall was a difficult fit in a UK review.

Loft to one shower room

You can reach a loft and run a short duct to one shower room. The Vent-Axia HR100R is about £319, with two speeds and 18 l/s FID on the bullet, and 3.8 from six reviews. One UK review credits a dry small bathroom. Another received a bent condensate drain. A flat with one external wall and no loft is a poor match for this box.

Common questions about single room heat recovery units

Which single room heat recovery unit is the top pick in 2026?
The top pick is the Kair K-HRV150/12RH at about £323.94. It is a 12 V through-wall fan with a humidistat, a pull cord and a 152 mm core, and 4.2 stars from 109 amazon.co.uk reviews. Best value is the white LIRAST at about £123.12, with a wall switch and a sleeve of about 300–555 mm. Its 3.9 from 182 reviews is the same file as the anthracite listing, not a second sample. The Kair leads on the humidistat and the longer independent review file. The LIRAST leads on shelf price.
How much does a single room heat recovery unit cost?
On the amazon.co.uk cards saved on 20 October 2026, shelf prices run from about £123.12 for the white LIRAST to about £379.99 for the Brookvent ONE+. The anthracite LIRAST is about £139.15, the VT100 about £159.60 and the EUROPLAST about £189.90. The Kair is about £323.94 and the Vent-Axia HR100R about £319. These are the saved prices, not a promise of the cheapest live offer. Whole-house trade units sit outside this twelve.
What airflow should you compare with Approved Document F?
Use litres per second. Approved Document F Volume 1 (2021, England) Table 1.2 high rates are 8 l/s for a bathroom or utility room, 13 l/s for a kitchen, and 6 l/s for sanitary accommodation. Table 1.1 intermittent bathroom extract is 15 l/s. Divide cubic metres per hour by 3.6. A figure on the listing is the seller's text, not proof the fan meets Part F once it is installed. If two lines disagree, keep both and read the manual.
Can you fit a single room heat recovery unit in a bathroom?
A bathroom word on the listing is not an IP rating. In this set, only the Brookvent ONE+ bullet states IPX4. Kair's manufacturer page states IP57 on the wall unit and IP30 on the transformer, which stays outside bathroom zones. The Amazon table for that ASIN does not show an IP number. IET guidance is that a 230 V fan in zones 1 and 2 needs at least IPX4, with the isolator outside zones 0–2. A new bathroom circuit is Part P work.
Do you need an electrician to install one?
A plug-in bedroom fan is a different job from a new circuit beside a bath or shower. UK reviews of the VT100 confirm a UK plug. The Kair listing says both 12 V and a BS 1363 connector, and that hard-wiring is required, so an electrician should reconcile those lines before you fix the grille. EUROPLAST prints both a Type G and a Schuko plug. Call a professional for a new bathroom circuit, high-rise access, or an uncleared wall.
Is the heat-recovery percentage a measured result?
No. Up to 90, 86, 85 or 82 percent on these listings are seller claims. This page did not measure a core. A ceramic-core paper often reports about 60–80 percent, and that paper is not a test of these twelve ASINs. Do not treat the percentage as a cut in the heating bill, or as proof the unit meets Part F. Brookvent fields of 5 dB and 10 dB are listing lines, not a bedroom sound level.
When is whole-house MVHR the better fit?
One push-pull hole serves one room. Whole-house MVHR supplies every habitable room and should not add trickle vents. Choose a single-room unit when you have one outside wall and one damp or stuffy room. Choose a ducted whole-house system when every habitable room needs supply air. The Vent-Axia HR100R is still one loft box for a room you can duct, not that whole-house layout. The MVHR comparison is the page for the whole dwelling.
What do buyers get wrong before they drill?
They buy on a recovery percentage, ignore wall thickness, treat a bathroom label as IPX4, and forget the Brookvent controller. A UK review of the ONE 100 put the extra switch at about £40, and it was not sold on Amazon. The only ONE 150 review quotes about £53.20 extra. LIRAST's sleeve starts at about 300 mm. A 275 mm wall was a difficult fit. A fan does not repair a leak.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Kair K-HRV150/12RH at about £323.94. It is a 12 V through-wall fan with a humidistat, a pull cord and a stated 152 mm core, and 4.2 from 109 reviews. Best value is the white LIRAST at about £123.12, a 100 mm ceramic fan with a wall switch and a 300–555 mm sleeve. Its 3.9 from 182 reviews is the same text as the anthracite listing. Skip the Kair if the wall is far outside about 229–356 mm or you need a plug-in install. Skip the white LIRAST if the wall is under 300 mm or the room needs an IP rating.
