Peter F.Editor

A flexible garden hose, as UK shoppers use the phrase, is an expandable hose: a latex or rubber core in a woven jacket that lengthens when the tap is on and shortens when you drain it. You buy one for the light stored size, for pots, a small lawn or a car. It is not a drinking-water pipe, and it does not provide backflow protection on the tap. You tell a suitable hose by the expanded length you will actually reach, with slack for corners, and by fittings that match the tap. Outdoor taps in the UK are commonly 3/4 inch BSP, and 1/2 inch BSP still exists. A line that only says three-quarter inch, and points the connectors at US taps, is not a British Standard Pipe claim. Spare washers, a stated maximum pressure, and a large review sample that includes leaks matter more than one glowing review. Low mains pressure means the hose can miss the title length. Length, thread and storage are set out in the [flexible garden hose buying guide](/hub/garden-watering/flexible-garden-hose/sub/flexible-garden-hose-buying-guide).

A flexible garden hose, as UK shoppers use the phrase, is an expandable hose: a latex or rubber core in a woven jacket that lengthens when the tap is on and shortens when you drain it.

Generic 50 ft expandable hose with brass fittings

Rank 1

Generic 50 ft expandable hose with brass fittings

∼£20

Our view

This generic 50 ft kit is about £19.99 and lists brass connectors, a 10-function nozzle, spare washers, a hanger and a bag. The only amazon.co.uk review is five stars and says it fitted the tap and did not kink. One review cannot carry a top-pick badge. The technical table does not state a pressure maximum or BSP.

Pros

  • About £19.99 with brass connectors named in the title
  • A 10-function nozzle, spare washers, a hanger and a storage bag
  • The only review says it fitted the tap and did not kink
  • Double-layer latex in a fabric jacket, as listed

Cons

  • 5.0 from 1 review, dated 21 August 2026
  • No pressure figure in the technical table
  • BSP is not in the spec table
  • One review cannot carry a top-pick badge

Best for: You want brass, washers, a hanger and a bag in one 50 ft kit, and you will not treat one review as a durability record.

Less suitable: You want a large review sample, or a pressure figure printed on the page.

Common questions

How many amazon.co.uk reviews are on this listing?

The star line is 5.0 from 1 review, dated 21 August 2026. That single review is positive and is not a durability record.

What is in the box?

The listing includes a 10-function nozzle, three washers, the hose, a hanger and a storage bag.

Does the spec table state a UK thread?

The title says solid brass. The only review says 3/4 inch UK-standard brass and a 1/2 inch adapter. The technical table does not say BSP.

KETTOYA 100 ft expandable hose

Rank 2

KETTOYA 100 ft expandable hose

∼£40

Our view

KETTOYA is the highest price in the set at about £39.99 and the highest stars among large samples, 4.3 from 4,052. The box is the fullest: metal connectors in both tap sizes, a 10-pattern gun, tape, washers, a hanger and a bag. The 20 bar figure is the listing maximum. A five-year owner still reported a later burst at the gun.

Pros

  • 4.3 from 4,052 reviews, the highest stars among large samples in this set
  • Metal 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch connectors and a 10-pattern gun
  • Bag, hanger, tape and washers in the box
  • 20 bar is the listing maximum

Cons

  • Highest price in the set, at about £39.99
  • The word brass is not used
  • A pressure washer or sprinkler needs a separate female quick connector
  • One UK review of a 2020 purchase reports a later burst at the gun joint

Best for: A long run where you want both tap sizes in metal, a bag and a hanger, and you accept the highest price in this set.

Less suitable: A pressure-washer outlet, or a budget at the bottom of this set.

Common questions

Will the KETTOYA hose fit a sprinkler or pressure washer as sold?

The bullet says you need a separate female quick connector for a pressure washer or sprinkler. It can join another Kettoya hose without that extra part. Do not put this hose on a pressure-washer outlet.

Are the connectors called brass?

The included-components line says 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch metal connectors. The word brass is not used.

What failed in the long-term review in the sample?

One UK review of a 2020 purchase says it lasted about five years of light use, then the latex burst at the gun joint and the gun stuck open.

Flexi Hose 50 ft expandable hose

Rank 3

Flexi Hose 50 ft expandable hose

∼£20

Our view

The Flexi Hose 50 ft listing is about £19.99 with a stated 12 bar maximum, a 3750D jacket and four latex layers. The amazon.co.uk star line is 4.1 from 47,222, the same figure as the 100 ft Flexi Hose, so it is one shared sample. It is the top pick in this set on that sample plus brass fittings and the lower price of the two, with the limit that the bullet points the connectors at US taps rather than stating BSP.

Pros

  • About £19.99 for a stated 50 ft expanded length at 1.29 kg
  • 4.1 from 47,222 amazon.co.uk reviews, shared with the 100 ft listing
  • 3/4 inch brass fittings and a stated maximum of 12 bar
  • Bullets describe an 8-pattern nozzle, four latex layers and a 3750D jacket

Cons

  • The bullet points the connectors at typical US taps, not BSP
  • The included-components line says hose only
  • The 47,222 reviews are one shared sample, not a separate test of this length
  • Not a drinking-water hose and not for a pressure-washer outlet

Best for: A short to medium run where you want the large shared review line and brass fittings, and you will check the tap thread yourself.

Less suitable: A tap you have not checked against a US-tap bullet, or a hose you will put on a pressure-washer outlet.

Is a spray nozzle in the box?

The bullets describe an 8-pattern ABS nozzle. The included-components line only says hose.

What pressure is listed?

The technical table says 12 bar. The temperature line is 41 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit. Neither figure was retested here.

Flexi Hose 100 ft expandable hose

Rank 4

Flexi Hose 100 ft expandable hose

∼£30

Our view

The 100 ft Flexi Hose is about £29.99 with the same construction claims and the same 4.1 from 47,222 as the 50 ft. It weighs 2.25 kg. The US-tap sentence is on this listing too. The lower-priced 50 ft takes the single top-pick badge because the review pool is shared.

Pros

  • Stated 100 ft expanded length and a listed maximum of 12 bar
  • Same construction claims as the 50 ft: four latex layers and a 3750D jacket
  • 3/4 inch brass in the bullets
  • The same 4.1 from 47,222 as the 50 ft listing

Cons

  • About £29.99 and 2.25 kg, heavier than the 50 ft listing
  • The US-tap sentence is on this listing too
  • The review pool is shared, so it does not take a second badge
  • The included-components line does not list a bag

Best for: A longer run where you already accept the shared Flexi Hose review line and you will check that the tap is not being treated as BSP.

Less suitable: You want a separate review sample for the 100 ft length, both tap sizes, or the lower price of the 50 ft listing.

What does the listing say about the tap?

Solid 3/4 inch brass connectors for typical outdoor garden taps in the US. It does not say BSP.

How heavy is it?

The table says 2.25 kg, heavier than the 1.29 kg 50 ft listing.

HOMOZE 50 ft expandable hose

Rank 5

HOMOZE 50 ft expandable hose

∼£17

Our view

HOMOZE is about £16.99 with 3.9 from 15,888 reviews, the best value because the price is the joint lowest and the sample is large. The bullet gives 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch fittings and a 10-mode gun, and a bag. It does not state brass or a pressure rating, and the length fields contradict each other. The review sample includes early splits.

Pros

  • About £16.99, the joint lowest price in this set
  • 3.9 from 15,888 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch fittings stated, plus a 10-mode gun
  • A storage bag is named in the bullets

Cons

  • Brass and a pressure maximum are not stated
  • The bullet says 50 ft, the dimensions say 15.24 m, and item length says 30 m
  • The review sample includes early splits and hoses already broken
  • The material field says PVC

Best for: You want both tap sizes stated, at the joint lowest price, and you will treat the three length figures as a conflict.

Less suitable: You need brass, a stated pressure, or one length that the title, the dimensions and the item field all agree on.

Common questions

Which length should you trust on the HOMOZE listing?

The bullet says 50 ft after expansion. The dimension line says 15.24 m. Item length says 30 m. All three are printed. They are not the same.

Are the fittings described as brass?

No. The listing says 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch fittings. The material field is PVC. Brass is not named.

What do the reviews in the sample repeat?

The first 50 UK reviews include praise for light weight and value, and complaints that the hose split or was already broken.

BABADU 100 ft expandable hose

Rank 6

BABADU 100 ft expandable hose

∼£25

Our view

BABADU is about £24.99, 1.03 kg, with ABS connectors in both sizes, a 7-function gun, a hook and a bag. It scores 3.8 from 11,579. The pressure cell says 60,000 pascal and is left as printed. Converted, that is 0.6 bar, so it is not treated as a high burst rating. The review sample includes bursts and a gun that would not stay on.

Pros

  • About £24.99 for a stated 100 ft hose at 1.03 kg
  • ABS connectors in both 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch
  • 7-function gun, a hook and a storage bag
  • 3.8 from 11,579 amazon.co.uk reviews

Cons

  • The pressure cell says 60,000 pascal, which converts to 0.6 bar
  • Fittings are ABS, not described as brass
  • The review sample includes bursts and a gun that would not stay on
  • The material field says ABS while the bullet says latex

Best for: A stated 100 ft hose with both tap sizes and a large review count, if you read 60,000 pascal as 0.6 bar.

Less suitable: You want brass fittings, or a pressure figure you can treat as a strength claim.

That is the only pressure figure in the technical table. Converted it is 0.6 bar. It is not treated as a high burst rating.

Is the hose latex-free?

A question in the saved file asks that. The bullet says the hose is made of latex, so it is not latex-free.

What failures show up in the review sample?

Reviews include a hose that exploded after about two years, a second hose that burst within 12 months, small leaks along the length, and a sprayer that came off.

ANSYU 100 ft expandable hose

Rank 7

ANSYU 100 ft expandable hose

∼£25

Our view

ANSYU is about £24.64 for a stated 100 ft hose that the bullet says shrinks to about 33 ft. Fittings are ABS in both tap sizes, with an 8-mode gun, hanger and bag. The listing caps pressure at 6 bar and recommends 3 to 6 bar. It scores 3.8 from 7,455, and leaks are a repeated review theme.

  • About £24.64 for a stated 100 ft that the bullet says shrinks to about 33 ft
  • ABS fittings in both tap sizes, an 8-mode gun, a hanger and a bag
  • 6 bar maximum, with 3 to 6 bar recommended
  • 3.8 from 7,455 amazon.co.uk reviews

Cons

  • Leaks are a repeated review theme
  • The 6 bar cap is lower than the 12 bar listings
  • Fittings are ABS, not brass
  • The sample includes a hose compared with a sturdier regular hose

Best for: A 100 ft hose with both tap sizes, a bag and a printed 6 bar cap, if leaks in the review sample are a risk you will accept.

Less suitable: You want brass, a 12 bar listing, or a review sample that does not repeat leaks.

Flexi Hose 75 ft expandable hose

∼£26

Our view

The green 75 ft Flexi Hose is about £25.99, made in Thailand on the listing, with a double-latex bullet and a 12 bar maximum. The material field says ABS, which does not match the latex bullet, so both are shown as printed. Across 55 reviews it scores 3.7, and the saved sample includes early leaks. The connectors are described as solid 2 cm, with no 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch or BSP line.

Pros

  • Stated 75 ft at about £25.99
  • A double-latex bullet and a listed maximum of 12 bar
  • An on/off valve in the bullets and a claimed 2-year warranty
  • A nozzle is listed in the box

Cons

  • 3.7 from 55 reviews, a much smaller sample than the 50 ft and 100 ft Flexi Hose lines
  • It does not say 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch or BSP
  • The material field says ABS, which does not match the latex bullet
  • The saved sample includes early leaks

Best for: A stated 75 ft hose with 12 bar on the page, if 55 reviews are enough and you will check the thread yourself.

Less suitable: You want both tap sizes stated, or a review count in the thousands.

3.7 out of 5 from 55 reviews, a much smaller sample than the 50 ft and 100 ft Flexi Hose lines.

AYZ 100 ft expandable hose

Rank 10

AYZ 100 ft expandable hose

∼£20

Our view

AYZ is about £19.84 and does state solid brass fittings in both 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch, plus a hook and a bag. The star line is 3.6 from 952, below HOMOZE and the Flexi Hose parent line. Reviews in the sample include poor quality and a hose that lasted about three months. The title and the bullet disagree on how many spray modes the gun has. The table says 12 bar and the bullet says the hose expands under 3 to 6 bar.

Pros

  • About £19.84 with solid brass fittings in both 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch
  • A hook and a storage bag
  • The table says 12 bar, and the bullet says the hose expands at 3 to 6 bar

Best for: A 100 ft hose with brass fittings in both tap sizes, if you accept 3.6 from 952 reviews.

CLMCL 100 ft expandable hose

Rank 11

CLMCL 100 ft expandable hose

∼£18

Our view

CLMCL’s 100 ft green option is about £17.99 and 0.75 kg, with 3/4 and 1/2 fittings that are not called brass, a 6 bar maximum and an 8-mode gun. It has the weakest large star line in the set, 3.4 from 2,657. Review titles include holes and leaks. Low price alone does not make it the best value. HOMOZE is a similar price with 3.9 from 15,888.

Pros

  • About £17.99 for a stated 100 ft hose at 0.75 kg
  • 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch fittings, a 6 bar maximum and an 8-mode gun

  • The bullet says it returns to about 33.3 ft when drained

Cons

  • 3.4 from 2,657 reviews, the weakest large star line in this set
  • The fittings are not called brass
  • Review titles include holes and leaks
  • A low price alone does not make it the best value

Best for: A light 100 ft hose at about £17.99, if you have read the 3.4 from 2,657 and the leak titles.

Less suitable: You want the best value in this set, or fittings the listing calls brass.

Common questions

What lengths does BOANKODU state?

The bullet says it expands from 17 ft to 25 ft under standard pressure, then shortens when the water is off.

Is there an amazon.co.uk star rating in the saved file?

No. There is no customer-reviews line and no review text, so the rating is not stated. The card score is 0 for that reason.

Does it say which tap it fits?

No tap size is given. The box line is the hose, an 8-function nozzle and rubber washers.

How we compared

Card scores are the 0–100 figures saved with the twelve amazon.co.uk listings on 20 October 2026. There is no laboratory test and no pressure trial. The score is amazon.co.uk stars (up to 60), the log of the review count (capped at 25), plus listing points for brass (8), both tap sizes (4) and a nozzle (3). The Flexi Hose 50 ft and 100 ft lines share 4.1 from 47,222, so that count is not treated as two samples and only the lower-priced 50 ft takes the top-pick badge. A 5.0 from one review is not badged. A missing star line scores 0, and that zero is not a quality judgement. The weights below are those same points and sum to 100. In sentences this page says top pick and best value.

1

Amazon stars

60%

The amazon.co.uk star line contributes up to 60 points. It is read with the saved review texts. Pinholes, bursts and leaks in that sample are a limit on the listing, not a lab result.

2

Review count

25%

The log of the review count is capped at 25 points. A large count can show a leak pattern. One review, or a missing star line, cannot.

3

Brass fittings

8%

A listing that states brass fittings scores 8 points. ABS or an unstated metal does not. Reviews in this set describe plastic collars snapping.

4

Both tap sizes

4%

A listing that states both 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch scores 4 points. UK outside taps are commonly 3/4 inch BSP, and 1/2 inch still exists. A US-tap sentence is not BSP.

5

Nozzle in the listing

3%

A nozzle or spray gun named on the listing scores 3 points. Pattern count is a weak tie-break. The included-components line and the bullets sometimes disagree, and both are kept.

Flexible garden hose buying guide

Choose by the expanded length you will reach, the tap thread, and a review count you can read, before the shelf price. Prices below are amazon.co.uk lines from 20 October 2026. There is no lab test. Layer counts and bar ratings are seller text.

What to check on a flexible garden hose

A flexible garden hose on amazon.co.uk is an expandable hose: a latex or rubber core in a woven jacket that lengthens with the tap on and shortens when drained. Buyers want the light weight and the small stored size. A layflat hose or a hose on a reel is a different buy. None of these listings is for drinking water, a pressure-washer outlet, or backflow protection. Length comes first. The title is the long state, not the length in the bag.

Best for

  • Flats and small gardens where you will store the hose in a bag
  • A long run from a rear tap, once you have checked the thread

Not ideal for

  • Drinking water, a pressure-washer outlet, or backflow protection
  • A hose left full in the sun, or a five-star line from a single review

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Treating the title as the stored length

The title is the long state. The hose shortens when you drain it. Low pressure means you miss that length. If three fields print three lengths, keep the conflict.

  2. 2

    Reading 3/4 inch as BSP

A bullet that points the connectors at typical US garden taps is not a British Standard Pipe claim. Do not write the hose off as fitting every UK tap unless the listing says BSP or UK standard.

  3. 3

Leaving it full in the sun

Drain the hose before frost and before you bag it. Do not fit it to a pressure-washer lance, and do not rank one five-star review over a large sample that includes leaks.

What to weigh up

Expanded length and tap fit

High

Measure the walk and add slack. The title is the filled length, and low pressure can miss it. UK outside taps are commonly 3/4 inch BSP, and 1/2 inch still exists. Brass or stated metal beats ABS collars. A US-tap sentence is not BSP. Spare washers matter more than the number of spray patterns.

Reviews, pressure and the job

High

Read stars with the count. A shared 47,222 is one sample. A 5.0 from one review is not a durability record. A printed bar rating was not retested here, and 60,000 pascal is 0.6 bar. These hoses are not for drinking water or a pressure-washer outlet. Backflow protection is the tap, not a feature of the box.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Small garden, large sample

You will store the hose in a small space and you want the large shared review line. The Flexi Hose 50 ft is about £19.99, with 4.1 from 47,222 reviews, a stated 12 bar maximum and 3/4 inch brass. Skip it if you have not checked the tap: the bullet points those connectors at US taps, not BSP.

Both tap sizes, lower price

You want 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch stated on the page, at the joint lowest price, and you can live with a length conflict. The HOMOZE 50 ft is about £16.99, with 3.9 from 15,888 reviews, a 10-mode gun and a storage bag. Skip it if you need brass or a stated pressure. The title, the dimensions and the item length do not agree.

Long run, fuller kit

The walk from a rear tap is long, and you want both tap sizes in metal plus a bag and a hanger. The KETTOYA 100 ft is about £39.99, with 4.3 from 4,052 reviews and a listed 20 bar maximum. Skip it if you need a pressure-washer outlet: the bullet says that needs a separate female quick connector, and these hoses are the wrong tool for that outlet.

Common questions about flexible garden hoses

What is a flexible garden hose, and how do you tell a suitable one?
A flexible garden hose in this category is an expandable hose: a latex or rubber core in a woven jacket that lengthens with the tap on and shortens when you drain it. You buy it for a light stored size. Judge it by the expanded length you will reach, fittings that match a 3/4 inch or 1/2 inch tap, spare washers, and a large review sample that includes leaks. It is not for drinking water, a pressure-washer outlet, or backflow protection. Low pressure means you can miss the title length.
Which flexible garden hose is the top pick in this set?
The top pick is the Flexi Hose 50 ft expandable hose, about £19.99, with a card score of 85. amazon.co.uk shows 4.1 from 47,222 reviews, the same line as the 100 ft Flexi Hose, so it is one shared sample. The listing states 12 bar, four latex layers, a 3750D jacket and 3/4 inch brass. The bullet points those connectors at US taps, not BSP. The included-components line says hose only, while the bullets describe an 8-pattern nozzle. It weighs 1.29 kg.
Which listing is the best value?
The best value is the HOMOZE 50 ft expandable hose at about £16.99, card score 79. It has 3.9 from 15,888 reviews, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch fittings, a 10-mode gun and a storage bag. Brass and a pressure maximum are not stated, and the material field says PVC. The bullet says 50 ft, the dimensions say 15.24 m, and item length says 30 m. The review sample includes early splits. CLMCL is a similar price with a weaker large star line, 3.4 from 2,657.
Will a flexible garden hose fit a UK outside tap?
UK outside taps are commonly 3/4 inch BSP, and 1/2 inch still exists. Several listings state both. The Flexi Hose 50 ft and 100 ft bullets say their brass connectors suit typical US garden taps. US thread is not BSP. Do not treat a page as fitting every UK tap unless it says BSP or UK standard. Thread and washers are set out in flexible garden hose tap fittings.
What pressure do these listings state?
Pressure here is the figure printed on the listing, not a test we ran. Flexi Hose and AYZ state 12 bar. AYZ also says the hose expands at 3 to 6 bar. ANSYU and CLMCL state 6 bar. KETTOYA states 20 bar. BABADU prints 60,000 pascal, which converts to 0.6 bar, so that cell is not a strength claim. HOMOZE, the generic 50 ft kit, BOANKODU and XPendHoze state no maximum. Ofwat’s floor is 0.7 bar in the communication pipe, not the pressure while the hose is running.
Can you drink from these hoses or fit one to a pressure washer?
No. None of these listings is for drinking water, and none shows WRAS approval. Keep the end out of ponds, water butts and buckets, and run the warm water out before you spray. Do not put an expandable hose on a pressure-washer outlet. KETTOYA says a pressure washer or sprinkler needs a separate female quick connector, which is still not a reason to use the hose on that outlet. A Flexi Hose temperature line is about 41 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit, about 5 to 45 degrees Celsius, not hot water.
Do backflow rules and a hosepipe ban cover a flexible garden hose?
In England and Wales, a tap that can take a hose needs a double check valve under the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. A valve in the outdoor tap itself is described as lawful for installs before 1 July 1999. Later protection should sit indoors. These boxes do not include that valve. A temporary use ban under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, section 36, can stop hosepipe watering and car washing. Check your water company, and drain the hose before frost.
When is a standard garden hose the better tool?
Choose a reinforced hose when the far end must stay at full length while water is flowing, or when you will leave the hose outside. An expandable hose shortens when you drain it, and low pressure can miss the title length. A click-fit gun you already own may not connect. That comparison is the garden hose page. A split expandable hose is a replacement, not a repair to the supply.

Our verdict

In this set the top pick is the Flexi Hose 50 ft expandable hose at about £19.99. The card score is 85, from 4.1 and a shared 47,222 amazon.co.uk reviews, brass fittings and a stated 12 bar maximum. The bullet points those connectors at US taps, not BSP, and the same review line appears on the 100 ft Flexi Hose, so it is one sample. The best value is the HOMOZE 50 ft expandable hose at about £16.99, score 79, with 3.9 from 15,888 reviews and both tap sizes stated. Brass and a pressure maximum are not stated, and the length fields disagree.
