Peter F.Editor

A dirty water pump is a submersible for sandy or muddy water on a short job: a cooled hot tub, a pond, a cellar or an excavation. It is not a sprinkler pump and not a certified sewage pump. You recognise a suitable one by the particle limit, usually 25 mm or 35 mm, the maximum head, and the residual water the listing allows. Maximum litres per hour and maximum head do not happen together. Measure the vertical lift, allow for hose losses, and treat the flow as the volume at a modest lift. Ordinary pumps leave roughly 20 mm to 90 mm. A claim near 1 mm needs a hard, level base. A mains model needs a dry BS 1363 plug and 30 mA RCD protection. An 18 V body is for a site with no socket, and the battery is separate. Published limits sit at 35 °C, so spa water has to cool, and the pump is not for fuels or a permanent install. The checks are in the [dirty water pump buying guide](/hub/garden-watering/einhell-dirty-water-pump/sub/einhell-dirty-water-pump-buying-guide).

The best Einhell dirty water pumps in detail

Einhell GE-DP 18/25 LL Li

Rank 1

Einhell GE-DP 18/25 LL Li

∼£90

Our view

This 18 V GE-DP 18/25 LL Li is sold as the body only, listed at 7,000 L/h, 5 m and 0.5 bar, with a 1 mm clear-water claim, solids to 25 mm and immersion to 4 m. A UK reviewer lifted rain water about 5 feet and used it in small manhole chambers. At £89.99 you still buy a Power X-Change battery and charger, and the hose is not in the box. The same review puts working pressure at about 0.5 to 0.8 bar, which was not enough for a decent jet from a water butt. It will not stand in for a mains pump when you want sprinkler pressure. The 4.6 score comes from 180 reviews, and the UK notes in the file do not describe a broken unit.

Pros

  • 7,000 L/h, 5 m head and solids to 25 mm
  • 1 mm clear-water residual claimed, with ECO and BOOST
  • Lifted rain water about 5 feet in a UK review
  • 4.6 from 180 reviews, the highest star line in the set

Cons

  • Battery and charger are not included at £89.99
  • About 0.5 to 0.8 bar, too weak for a garden jet
  • Hose not in the box
  • UK review notes in the file are short

Best for: Small chambers, flood transfer and rain water where you already own an 18 V Power X-Change battery.

Less suitable: Sprinklers, a water-butt jet, or a buyer who has no spare 18 V battery.

Common questions

Does £89.99 include a battery?

No. The title and bullets say the body only. You need one 18 V Power X-Change battery and a charger, sold separately.

Can it run a garden sprinkler?

One UK review says the pressure, about 0.5 to 0.8 bar, is not enough for a decent jet from a water butt.

How low will it pump?

The bullets say it drains down to 1 mm and can pass foreign bodies up to 25 mm, with a 5 m lead and 4 m immersion.

Einhell GC-DP 3325

Rank 2

Einhell GC-DP 3325

∼£38

Our view

Across 1,050 amazon.co.uk reviews rated 4.4, the 330 W GC-DP 3325 emptied one hot tub of about 800 litres in 25 minutes on 25 mm hose. The listing gives 9,500 L/h, a 6 m head and solids to 25 mm, with an adjustable float for automatic or manual running. At £37.97, with that review count, it is the best value full-size pump in this set when you already have a hose, because the box holds the pump, a 90° elbow and a universal adapter. Reviewers say the last 20–30 mm stays behind, and one discharge at a 5 m head produced only a trickle. The float holder is called flimsy and sometimes needs a nudge before the pump starts. The technical line prints 120 V, so check the rating plate before you use a UK 13 A socket. That line is not proof the pump is a US model.

Pros

  • About 800 litres emptied in 25 minutes on 25 mm hose
  • 9,500 L/h, 6 m head and 25 mm solids on the listing
  • Adjustable float for automatic or manual level
  • £37.97 with 4.4 from 1,050 reviews

Cons

  • Leaves the last 20–30 mm
  • Hose not included; outlet is not a 3/4 inch BSP thread
  • Trickle only at a 5 m head in one review
  • Listing voltage is printed as 120 V

Best for: Hot tubs, ponds and bath water into a butt, where a short hose and a few centimetres left behind are acceptable.

Less suitable: A dry floor down to the last 20 mm, a 5 m lift at full flow, or a buyer who has not checked the 120 V line.

Common questions

How large a particle does the GC-DP 3325 listing allow?

The item highlight says foreign objects up to 25 mm. UK reviews still say leaves are mostly kept out by the intake.

Does the price include a hose?

No. The included parts are the pump, a 90° elbow and a universal adapter. Reviewers say the hose is extra, and several use 25 mm tubing.

What voltage does this amazon.co.uk listing state?

The technical line says 120 volts. Family data for this type is 230 V, so check the rating plate. The 120 V line is not proof of a US pump.

Einhell GE-DP 7035 LL

Rank 3

Einhell GE-DP 7035 LL

∼£69

Our view

The 700 W GE-DP 7035 LL lists 16,000 L/h, a 7 m head, a float, a 10 m cord and residual water down to 1 mm, and UK reviewers have used it on sandy well water, a basement and a large pool. One pool empty still left about 2 cm. The 1 mm setting blocks unless the pump stands on a hard base, and the bottom plate is described as flimsy. Case joints leaked for one buyer, and one email to customer service went unanswered. The first bullets on the listing describe a 1,250 W wet-dry vacuum and contradict model 4181570, so they are not treated as pump specifications. No hose is included at £68.98. The rating is 4.4 from 551 reviews.

Pros

  • 16,000 L/h and a 7 m head on 230 V
  • 1 mm residual water is claimed, with a 10 m cord
  • Used on sandy shallow-well water and a basement
  • Empties a large pool quickly in UK reviews

Cons

  • One pool still held about 2 cm
  • 1 mm mode blocks on a soft base; bottom plate called flimsy
  • Leaking case joints in one review
  • Opening bullets describe a wet-dry vacuum, not this pump

Best for: Floods, hot tubs and pools when the pump can sit on a hard base and a couple of centimetres left behind is acceptable.

Less suitable: A soft or muddy floor if you need the 1 mm claim, or a buyer who takes the vacuum-cleaner bullets as the specification.

Common questions

Will it really leave only 1 mm of water?

The highlight claims 1 mm. One UK review says the bottom plate is flimsy and the inlet blocks unless the pump sits on a hard base. Another pool empty left about 2 cm.

Why do some bullets mention a vacuum cleaner?

The first bullets describe a wet-dry vacuum. They contradict model 4181570, the item type and the UK pump reviews, so they are not treated as specs.

Is a hose included?

No. The box list is the pump, a 90° connection and a universal connection.

Einhell GE-DP 18/25 Li

Rank 4

Einhell GE-DP 18/25 Li

∼£100

Our view

The GE-DP 18/25 Li Solo is the non-flat 18 V pump listed at 7,500 L/h, 5 m and 0.5 bar, with ECO and BOOST modes. One reviewer drained a Lay-Z-Spa on about half a 4 Ah battery, and others use it on a pond where there is no nearby socket. The £99.98 price is the body only: battery, charger and hose are separate, and one pond job could not start until a flat hose was bought. Other buyers say a single pack runs out quickly and that 4 Ah is a minimum. There is no 1 mm residual claim in this file. One unit arrived looking used. A listing bullet about a tyre inflator does not belong to this pump and is ignored here. The rating is 4.4 from 163 reviews.

Pros

  • 7,500 L/h and a 5 m head without a mains lead
  • A Lay-Z-Spa drained on about half a 4 Ah pack
  • ECO and BOOST modes on the listing
  • Useful where the garden has no socket

Cons

  • Non-flat suction, so it will not chase the last millimetre
  • Battery, charger and hose are all extra at £99.98
  • One pack often runs out; reviewers suggest at least 4 Ah
  • One unit arrived looking used

Best for: A hot tub or pond away from a socket, if you already own at least one 4 Ah Power X-Change battery and a flat hose.

Less suitable: Flat suction to 1 mm, a long empty on a single small battery, or a buyer who expects the hose in the box.

Common questions

Is this the flat-suction cordless model?

No. The product style line says non-flat suction. A 1 mm claim is not in this file.

What battery do reviewers use?

One drained a Lay-Z-Spa on about half a 4 Ah pack. Others say one pack runs out quickly and that a 4 Ah pack is a minimum.

Is a hose included?

No. A UK reviewer bought a flat hose after the pond job could not start without one.

FOTING 28,000 L/h

Rank 5

FOTING 28,000 L/h

∼£57

Our view

The amazon.co.uk bullets claim 28,000 L/h, an 11 m head and 38 mm solids from this 900 W thermoplastic FOTING, with a 10 m cord, immersion to 7 m and residual water down to about 3.8 cm. The float is described as switching on at about 17.5 cm. Of 80 reviews at 4.4 stars, the file contains one United Kingdom review, and that buyer said it moved a large volume quickly and did the job. Hoses, pipes and circlips were not in the box and had to be ordered. No pump curve sits beside the 28,000 L/h figure, and no voltage is printed, so both stay unverified listing claims. With a single UK review, you have almost no picture of how often the pump fails.

Pros

  • Listing claims 28,000 L/h, 11 m and 38 mm solids
  • 10 m cord and immersion claimed to 7 m
  • The one UK review said it did the job
  • Float described as switching on at about 17.5 cm

Cons

  • Only one UK review in a file of 80
  • 28,000 L/h has no pump curve beside it
  • Voltage is not stated
  • Hose, pipes and circlips are extra

Best for: A one-off large-volume move if you treat 28,000 L/h as a listing claim and buy the hose fittings yourself.

Less suitable: Anyone who wants a voltage on the page or a UK review sample large enough to judge failures.

Common questions

Where does 28,000 litres per hour come from?

It is the flow figure in the amazon.co.uk bullets and spec line. There is no pump curve beside it, so it stays a listing claim.

What did UK reviewers say?

The file has one UK review. It says the pump did the job and that hoses, pipes and circlips must be ordered separately.

Is the voltage stated?

No voltage line is in the file, so the cell stays blank.

FOTING 900 W stainless

Rank 6

FOTING 900 W stainless

∼£63

Our view

This 900 W FOTING has a 304 stainless housing and lists 13,000 L/h and a 9 m head, yet the base filter only claims solids to 5 mm. Residual water is claimed at about 1 cm, while a fish-pond review left about 50 mm. A construction review called the pump decent until a trapped float let it run dry and a seal then had to be replaced. One buyer used two pumps in five to six months. It did not have enough force for a sprinkler fed from 3 m down through a 5 m hose. The hose is bought separately, voltage is not printed, and one review notes there is no switch beside the mains plug. The float is said to switch on at about 17.8 cm. The rating is 4.4 from 60 reviews. It is not a sewage pump and not a pump for fish.

Pros

  • 304 stainless housing at £62.99
  • 13,000 L/h and a 9 m head claimed, with a 10 m cord
  • Residual water claimed at about 1 cm
  • Used for pools and construction dewatering

Cons

  • Solids only to 5 mm, not 35 mm
  • A trapped float led to dry running and a seal repair
  • Two pumps in five to six months for one buyer
  • Too weak for that reviewer's sprinkler lift, and voltage is unstated

Best for: Pools and relatively clean water where debris stays under 5 mm and the float can swing free.

Less suitable: Leaves, stones or 35 mm solids, a sprinkler from several metres down, or a site where the float can snag.

Common questions

Can it pass the same debris as a 35 mm pump?

No. The bullet says the base filter passes up to 5 mm solids, even though the title says dirty water.

Is a hose included?

No. UK reviews say you buy the hose separately.

What happens if the float is trapped?

One construction-site review says a trapped float let the pump run dry, and a seal then had to be replaced.

Einhell GC-DP 9035 N

Rank 7

Einhell GC-DP 9035 N

∼£71

Our view

This 900 W stainless GC-DP 9035 N lifted water about 3 m through roughly 20 m of hose from a waste-treatment pit and shifted muddy soakaway water. The listing states 18,000 L/h, a 9 m head, 35 mm solids and immersion to 5 m, and one reviewer passed stones of about 30 mm with a large hose fitted. Flow is poor when the pump is asked to work at that 9 m maximum. It draws air at about 2 inches, so it is not a tool for a shallow film of water even though the title says 2-in-1. Stones block the outlet if the housing sits on gravel. Across 575 reviews at 4.3 stars, several buyers say a unit lasted months, or about a year, and then stopped, including a third replacement. At £70.99 the hose is not included.

Pros

  • 18,000 L/h, 9 m head and 35 mm solids on a 230 V listing
  • Stainless housing and immersion listed to 5 m
  • Lifted about 3 m through about 20 m of hose in one review
  • Passed stones of about 30 mm when a large hose was fitted

Cons

  • Weak flow at the listed 9 m maximum
  • Draws air at about 2 inches, so not for shallow water
  • Outlet blocks if stones enter from gravel
  • Several units lasted months or about a year, then died

Best for: Muddy excavations, soakaways and waste pits where you can keep the intake off stones and the lift is well under 9 m.

Less suitable: Shallow puddles, a full 9 m lift, or a buyer who expects a hose in the box.

Common questions

How deep can this pump be immersed?

The bullets say a maximum immersion depth of 5 m, with a 9 m delivery height and 35 mm foreign bodies.

Does the title’s 2-in-1 claim include flat suction?

The title says 2-in-1. The bullets do not describe a flat-suction mode. A UK review says it is not for shallow water and draws air at about 2 inches.

Is a hose in the box?

No. Included parts are the pump, one 90° angle and one universal connection. Reviewers fitted their own hose.

Einhell GC-DP 7835

Rank 8

Einhell GC-DP 7835

∼£51

Our view

Across 10,114 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.2 stars, owners use the 780 W GC-DP 7835 on underground tanks, a pond of roughly 2,000 litres, grey water and a flooded driveway. The listing gives 15,700 L/h, an 8 m head, 35 mm solids, a float and a cable rewind, at £50.50. It is the top pick in this table because it carries the highest score and by far the largest UK review sample. One reviewer in Devon could not lift water 10 m in one stage and split the job into two. Stones, plastic, string and hair clog the pump, and a stone cracked one casing. Two UK deliveries arrived with a two-pin plug rather than a BS 1363 plug. A float that failed after about a month, and a pump that stopped after about eight months, both appear in the sample.

Pros

  • 15,700 L/h, 8 m head and 35 mm solids on 230 V
  • 4.2 from 10,114 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Used on a roughly 2,000 litre pond and flooded driveways
  • Can be opened to clear string or hair
  • Cable rewind and a float are on the listing

Cons

  • Will not lift 10 m in one stage; the maximum listed is 8 m
  • Stones and plastic can crack the case or the seal
  • Two UK reviews received a two-pin plug
  • Float failure after about a month, and a stop after about eight months, in the sample

Best for: Cellars, ponds and emergency sumps within the 8 m head, if you check that the plug is a UK 13 A plug.

Less suitable: A single lift of 10 m, or water full of stones that can crack the housing.

Common questions

Have UK buyers received a UK plug?

Two UK reviews say the pump arrived with a two-pin plug. That is a fault in the supply they received. Do not cut the plug off.

Will it lift water 10 metres?

The listing maximum is 8 m. One Devon reviewer could not raise water 10 m in a single stage and used two stages.

What blocks it?

UK reviews mention stones, plastic, string and hair. Some owners open the pump to clear it. A stone cracked one casing.

FOTING 14,000 L/h

Rank 9

FOTING 14,000 L/h

∼£47

Our view

Across 2,607 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.2 stars, this 900 W thermoplastic FOTING emptied a 2.5 m by 1.5 m pool in about 20 minutes in manual mode, and a 12 ft pool of about 9,000 litres in just over an hour. The listing states 14,000 L/h, an 8.5 m head, 35 mm solids, a 10 m cord on 230 V and residual water down to 3 cm. One hot tub still held about 6 cm, and another pump stopped halfway through the empty. Breaker trips, loose screws and a trip after about eight months are in the UK sample, and one reviewer could not find customer service. The float has no park position for continuous running, which that buyer missed from earlier Einhell pumps. At £46.99 the hose is extra, and one delivery had no instructions and no check valve.

Pros

  • 14,000 L/h, 8.5 m head and 35 mm solids on 230 V
  • A 2.5 m by 1.5 m pool emptied in about 20 minutes
  • About 9,000 litres moved in just over an hour
  • 4.2 from 2,607 reviews at £46.99

Cons

  • About 6 cm left in one hot tub, against a 3 cm claim
  • Breaker trips, loose screws and a stop during a job
  • No float park for continuous running
  • Hose, instructions and a check valve missing from at least one delivery

Best for: Hot tubs, paddling pools and a bowser-to-tank lift when you can run it in manual mode and tolerate a few centimetres left.

Less suitable: Unattended float duty, a dry base, or a buyer who needs seller support after a breaker trip.

Common questions

How much water do UK reviews say it leaves?

The bullet says down to 3 cm. One hot-tub review left about 6 cm that the pump would not take.

Does the float have a park position?

One UK review says it does not, unlike Einhell pumps they had used, so continuous running is harder to set.

What failures show up in UK reviews?

Breaker tripping, loose screws, a pump that stopped during a hot-tub empty, and another that tripped after about eight months.

FOTING 16,000 L/h

Rank 10

FOTING 16,000 L/h

∼£40

Our view

UK reviewers used this 550 W FOTING to empty a 2,500 litre underground rainwater tank, and one hot tub was gone in about 20 minutes once a separate hose was fitted. On 1 1/4 inch pipe, another buyer filled a 1,000 litre IBC in just over 10 minutes, which sits closer to the 16,000 L/h claim than a kinked layflat hose. The page also lists an 8 m head, 35 mm solids, residual water down to about 3.8 cm and a float that switches on around 17.5 cm. The same listing prints 1.5 horsepower beside 550 W, and those two figures do not match. Several owners report failure within a few months, including one unit that died after about seven months of light use. The leaflet left the float and the on/off points hard to follow. The sample is 4.2 from 62 reviews.

Pros

  • 2,500 litre rainwater tank emptied by a UK reviewer
  • 1,000 litre IBC filled in just over 10 minutes on wide pipe
  • 16,000 L/h, 8 m head and 35 mm solids claimed
  • 10 m cord and a float that can run automatic or manual

Cons

  • Hose not supplied, and layflat hose kinks
  • 550 W and 1.5 horsepower are both printed and disagree
  • Failures within a few months, including one at about seven months
  • Instructions described as unclear

Best for: A rainwater tank, pond or pool pit when you fit your own wide hose and accept a small review sample.

Less suitable: A pump you need to last beyond a few months, or a job that depends on the horsepower line.

Common questions

What solids does this FOTING listing claim?

The bullets say up to 3.5 cm, and residual water down to about 3.8 cm.

Is a hose included?

No. Reviewers bought a layflat hose separately, and one notes that layflat hose kinks.

Does the listing give one consistent power figure?

It says 550 W and also 1.5 horsepower. Those two lines do not match. Both are only what the listing prints.

BTRUI 18 V mini

Rank 11

BTRUI 18 V mini

∼£26

Our view

This BTRUI pump weighs about 600 g, is about 50 mm across and 180 mm tall, and is listed at 30 L/min with a 5 m head. The table shows that 30 L/min line as 1,800 L/h so the flow row uses one unit. The title also prints 500 GPH, which is not the same figure. UK reviewers dropped it into a 45 litre drum to water flower beds and used it while emptying footings. At £25.99 neither the Einhell 18 V battery nor a hose is included. One review says the outlet is 19 mm, so a usual 12.5 mm or 13 mm garden hose does not fit. The switch is called very basic. Particle size is not stated, and the UK reviews that were read do not describe a dead motor. Treat it as a mini transfer pump, not a basement flood pump, on a rating of 4.2 from 61 reviews.

Pros

  • About 600 g and small enough for a 45 litre drum
  • 30 L/min and a 5 m head on the listing
  • Used for flower beds and emptying footings
  • £25.99 before you add an Einhell 18 V battery

Cons

  • 19 mm outlet, so a 12.5 mm or 13 mm hose does not fit
  • Battery and hose are not included
  • Switch described as very basic
  • Far below the flow of a mains dirty-water pump

Best for: A rain butt, a small drum or shallow footings when you already own an Einhell 18 V battery and a 19 mm hose.

Less suitable: A flooded basement, 35 mm debris, or a standard 13 mm garden hose with no adapter.

Common questions

Will a normal garden hose fit?

One UK review says the outlet is 19 mm, not the usual 12.5 or 13 mm hose, so a different hose was needed.

Is a battery included at £25.99?

No. The title says the pump is for an Einhell 18 V battery and that no battery is supplied.

What flow does the listing state?

30 litres per minute, shown in the table as 1,800 L/h. The title also says 500 GPH, which is not the same figure. Head is 5 m. It is a mini pump, not an 18,000 L/h mains unit.

TPDL 18 V mini

Rank 12

TPDL 18 V mini

∼£26

Our view

The TPDL pump weighs about 200 g and measures about 10 × 8 × 5 cm, with 120 W on the listing and a lead of 4.5 m in the title so the switch can stay dry. The bullet says that switch must not go under water. Among 20 reviews at 4.2 stars, one buyer praises the flow and the filter, and another UK buyer returned a unit that did not pump. The title also says oil suction pump, but the reviews that were read describe water, and oil use is not shown. The file prints both 12 V and an Einhell 18 V fit, so match the battery you own rather than treating those as one specification. A claim that a 4 Ah pack runs for more than four hours is listing text, not a timed test. The £25.99 price does not include a battery.

Pros

  • About 200 g, small enough to move by hand
  • Lead keeps the switch out of the water
  • One review praises the flow and the filter
  • £25.99 for the pump body

Cons

  • One UK buyer returned a unit that did not pump
  • Only 20 reviews, and flow and head are not stated
  • 12 V and Einhell 18 V are both printed
  • Not a full-size dirty-water pump, and oil use is unproven

Best for: Light transfer from a pool cover, rain barrel or small pond if the switch stays dry and you accept a 20-review sample.

Less suitable: Basement flooding, dirty water with large solids, or anyone who needs a stated flow and a single voltage.

Common questions

Is this a full-size dirty water pump?

No. It weighs about 200 g and measures about 10 × 8 × 5 cm. The title also says oil suction pump. Treat it as a miniature transfer pump. Oil use is not shown in the reviews that were read.

Can the switch go under water?

The bullet says the switch should not be immersed. The lead is there so the switch stays out.

Did UK buyers get it working?

One review praises the flow and the filter. Another says it did not work and was returned. The sample is 20 reviews at 4.2.

How we compared

The twelve listing scores come from amazon.co.uk stars and review counts saved on 19 October 2026. They are not a laboratory test and not a measured flow. The top pick and the best value follow the display awards. The weights below are the order in which the listings were read. They sum to 100. A two-pin plug is reported where UK reviews mention one. This page does not tell you to cut a plug off.

1

Particle size

25%

25 mm suits leaves and light silt. 35 mm suits a muddier job. A 5 mm filter is a different tool. String, hair and stones can still block or crack a housing.

2

Head and flow

25%

Vertical lift plus hose losses comes before the litres-per-hour line. Maximum flow and maximum head do not happen together. A flow figure with no pump curve stays a listing claim.

3

Residual water

20%

Ordinary models leave roughly 20 mm to 90 mm. A claim near 1 mm is flat suction and needs a hard, level base. A 2-in-1 title is not treated as flat suction unless the bullets say so.

4

Supply and plug

20%

A mains pump needs a dry BS 1363 plug and 30 mA RCD protection. An 18 V Solo body does not include the battery or the charger. A miniature pump is not read as a cellar tool.

5

Review sample

10%

The display score uses the amazon.co.uk star line and the review count only. A large UK sample outweighs a higher star line from a small file.

Einhell dirty water pump buying guide

Choose by particle size, then head, then how much water is left, then the plug. A high litres-per-hour line is the volume at a modest lift, not at the maximum head. Prices below are amazon.co.uk lines from 19 October 2026.

What to check on a dirty water pump

A dirty water pump is a submersible for intermittent drainage of sandy or muddy water. The published particle limit is the first check. A 25 mm limit suits leaves and light silt. A 35 mm limit suits a muddier job. A listing that claims only 5 mm solids is a different tool, even when the title says dirty water. String, hair and stones still block or crack housings in UK reviews, so the millimetre figure is what the maker prints, not a promise that rubble will pass.

Best for

  • A cooled hot tub or pond on a mains socket, if you already own a hose and can accept a few centimetres left
  • A one-off muddy cellar within the listed head, with 30 mA RCD protection and a UK 13 A plug

Not ideal for

  • A sprinkler, a water-butt jet, drinking water, fish, or water above 35 °C
  • A permanent sump, a flooded cellar every winter, or electrics that have already been under water

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Reading only litres per hour

Maximum flow and maximum head do not happen together. The GC-DP 7835 lists 8 m. A Devon review could not lift 10 m in one stage. The 28,000 L/h line has no pump curve beside it.

  2. 2

Expecting a sprinkler or a hose in the box

Published pressure on these Einhell models is about 0.5 bar to 0.9 bar. A UK review put one 18 V body at about 0.5 to 0.8 bar, too weak for a water-butt jet. Hoses, clips and often a layflat hose are extra.

  3. 3

Ignoring the plug, the temperature or a tiny pump

Two GC-DP 7835 reviews arrived with a two-pin plug. Do not cut it off. Spa water must cool below the published 35 °C. A 200 g or 600 g pump is not a cellar tool, and a 5 mm filter is not a 35 mm pump.

What to weigh up

Particle size, head and residual water

High

Match 25 mm or 35 mm to the debris, then measure the lift before you trust litres per hour. Ordinary pumps leave roughly 20 mm to 90 mm. A 1 mm claim needs a hard, level base, and a 2-in-1 title is not flat suction unless the bullets say so.

Plug, voltage and what is missing

High

A mains pump needs a BS 1363 plug and 30 mA RCD protection. Check a 120 V line against the plate. An 18 V price is the body only. The hose is extra. Review count is not the same as a lab test: 10,114 reviews are not the same evidence as one UK review.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Cooled spa

You have a socket and a cooled hot tub, and a few centimetres left behind is acceptable. The Einhell GC-DP 3325 is 330 W, 9,500 L/h and 6 m at about £37.97, with 4.4 from 1,050 reviews. The hose is extra. One review emptied about 800 litres in 25 minutes on 25 mm hose. Skip it if you have not checked the 120 V line on the listing.

Muddy cellar

You need 35 mm solids, a float and a large UK review sample for a one-off cellar or pond. The Einhell GC-DP 7835 lists 780 W, 15,700 L/h and an 8 m head at about £50.50, with 4.2 from 10,114 reviews. It will not lift 10 m in one stage. Skip it if the delivery has a two-pin plug or the water is full of stones.

No socket

You already own an 18 V battery and the job is away from a socket. The Einhell GE-DP 18/25 LL Li is the body only, listed at 7,000 L/h and 5 m, at about £89.99, with 4.6 from 180 reviews. The battery, charger and hose are extra. Skip it if you need sprinkler pressure or you have no spare pack.

Common questions about Einhell dirty water pumps

What is an Einhell dirty water pump for?
An Einhell dirty water pump on these UK listings is a submersible for short drainage of sandy or muddy water. Published particle limits are 25 mm or 35 mm. It is not a sprinkler pump and not a certified sewage pump. People use one on a cooled hot tub, a pond, a cellar or an excavation. Maximum litres per hour and maximum head do not happen together. Published pressure on these Einhell models is about 0.5 bar to 0.9 bar. Stones, string and hair can still block the pump.
Which pump is the top pick in this set?
The top pick in this set is the Einhell GC-DP 7835 at about £50.50. The listing states 780 W, 15,700 L/h, an 8 m head and 35 mm solids on 230 V. Amazon.co.uk shows 4.2 from 10,114 reviews, and the listing score is 76, the highest here. It is not a lab test. A Devon review could not lift water 10 m in one stage. Two UK deliveries arrived with a two-pin plug. Check for a BS 1363 plug. Do not cut a two-pin plug off.
Which listing is the best value?
The best value in this set is the Einhell GC-DP 3325 at about £37.97, with 4.4 from 1,050 amazon.co.uk reviews and a listing score of 74. It states 330 W, 9,500 L/h, a 6 m head and solids to 25 mm. The hose is not in the box. Reviews say the last 20 to 30 mm stays. The technical line prints 120 V, while family data for this type is 230 V, so check the plate. That line is not proof of a US pump.
Does a mains dirty water pump need an RCD?
Outdoor mobile equipment up to 32 A needs 30 mA RCD protection under BS 7671 regulation 411.3.3, as the IET explains it. Electrical Safety First says use an RCD in the garden, uncoil outdoor leads, and unplug before you clean the pump. Mains pumps fall under the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. CE marking remains valid in Great Britain as well as UKCA. An 18 V pump body is below that voltage floor. Its charger is not. If the electrics have been under water, call an electrician.
Can one of these pumps run a sprinkler?
These pumps are not sprinkler pumps. Published pressure on the Einhell models here is about 0.5 bar to 0.9 bar. A UK review of an 18 V flat-suction body put working pressure at about 0.5 to 0.8 bar, too weak for a decent jet from a water butt. Another review had too little force for a sprinkler fed from 3 m down through a 5 m hose. Do not add the maximum flow figure to the maximum head.
How much water will a dirty water pump leave?
Ordinary dirty water pumps leave roughly 20 mm to 90 mm. Flat-suction listings here claim about 1 mm, and reviews say that needs a hard, level base. One pool empty still left about 2 cm. A model titled 2-in-1 drew air at about 2 inches in a UK review, so the title is not a shallow-water mode. The non-flat 18 V listing has no 1 mm claim. The difference is set out in the flat suction pump comparison.
Can you pump a hot tub straight away?
Einhell publishes 35 °C as the maximum, so a hot tub must cool before you pump it. These pumps are not for continuous pond circulation, fuels, drinking water or a permanent installation. A trade note on the 780 W model says it is not for fish ponds or a permanent install. Do not connect dirty water to drinking-water pipes, and do not run a petrol pump indoors. A cooled spa with a socket needs a modest mains pump plus a hose. The hose is not in these boxes.
When should you stop and call a professional?
Call a professional if the electrics have been under water, if a cellar floods every winter, if the water is about a metre deep, or if a discharge into a drain or watercourse may need consent. GOV.UK says a large flood can take days, outside water should be lower than inside water before you pump hard, and you must not flood someone else. About a metre of water is a reason to speak to a structural engineer. A permit may be required.

Our verdict

In this set the top pick is the Einhell GC-DP 7835: 780 W, 15,700 L/h, an 8 m head and 35 mm solids at about £50.50, with 4.2 from 10,114 amazon.co.uk reviews and a listing score of 76. The best value is the Einhell GC-DP 3325 at about £37.97, score 74, with 4.4 from 1,050 reviews, 9,500 L/h and a 6 m head. The hose is not in that box, and the listing prints 120 V, so check the plate before a UK 13 A socket.
