Top pick: Lukiegale expandable, 100 ft kit Best value: Faithfull 30 m reinforced hose, 12.7 mm – Score 73 at about £20.87, from 4.1 and 5,562 reviews, the largest sample among the fixed coils. Hose only, 12.7 mm in the title, and kinks are the main UK review theme. Updated 22.10.2026.

Peter F.Editor

A 30m garden hose is the usual bare length for a medium or large UK garden once you have measured the route from the outside tap and added slack. A reinforced PVC coil stays about 30 m with the tap off. An expandable hose uses 100 ft or 30 m for the length under pressure, often about three times the empty length. You tell a suitable hose by a named bore, usually 12.5 mm (½ inch), a reinforcement or cover you can describe, and fittings that match a ¾ inch or ½ inch BSP outside tap. Most outdoor taps are ¾ inch BSP. Some older taps are ½ inch BSP. A US-tap claim is a fit risk. Keep a working-pressure figure separate from a burst figure. BS 3746:1990 covers PVC garden hose for cold water at working pressures up to 7 bar, and it is not for drinking water. Extra length cuts flow. Reach, bore, type and thread are set out in the [30m garden hose buying guide](/hub/garden-watering/garden-hose-30m/sub/garden-hose-30m-buying-guide).

The best 30m garden hoses in detail

Lukiegale expandable, 100 ft kit

Rank 1

Lukiegale expandable, 100 ft kit

∼£32

Our view

Lukiegale is the highest price in this set at about £32.19. The listing line is 4.8 from 26. The title is a 100 ft expandable kit, and it also says 30 m. There is no UK review text on the listing, so the star line cannot be read as a UK consensus. The manufacturer line is printed as Lukiegale-US.

Pros

  • Nozzle, washers, bag and manual on the components line
  • 1/2 and 3/4 inch connectors named
  • 3x expansion example printed as 33.3 ft to 100 ft

Cons

  • No UK review themes on the listing
  • No pressure figure
  • Dimension line is 10 x 10 mm
  • Highest price in this set

Best for: You want the kit list (bag, washers, 10-mode gun) and you will not treat 26 stars as UK evidence.

Less suitable: You want UK review text before you pay the top price in this set.

Common questions

Are the 4.8 stars from UK reviews?

The listing line says 4.8 out of 5 from 26. The listing has no Reviewed in the United Kingdom block. The review prose in that file is headed Reviewed in Canada and describes a different product.

What is in the Lukiegale box?

Included Components list the 100 ft hose, a 10-mode nozzle, spare washers, a carry bag and a manual. Another line adds washers and a roll of PTFE tape.

Does the listing name a UK standard?

The bullets say manufactured to strict UK quality standards. They do not name BS 3746 or a guarantee period.

Greenera 12.5 mm x 30 m starter set

Rank 2

Greenera 12.5 mm x 30 m starter set

∼£32

Our view

Greenera is about £31.99 with 4.3 from 80 reviews. It is a fixed 12.5 mm by 30 m reinforced hose sold as a starter set, and it is the heaviest listing here at 3.72 kg. There is no bar figure. UK reviews often like the hose and are cooler about the plastic tap connector.

Pros

  • Kink resistance praised against an older hose
  • Fits some existing Hozelock reels
  • Starter fittings included
  • Grey reinforced coil rather than an expandable hose

Cons

  • Supplied tap connector leaked
  • Soft plastic cross-threaded
  • Stiff to wrap
  • Ends need cutting
  • One review on the ASIN is a 15 m set

Best for: You want a reinforced 30 m starter set and you are prepared to replace the tap connector if it weeps.

Less suitable: You want the lightest coil, or Faithfull's larger review sample at a lower price.

Common questions

Will the Greenera connectors fit Hozelock?

The brand does not claim Hozelock. Some UK reviews say the hose fitted an existing Hozelock reel. One buyer says the supplied tap connector leaked and was replaced with a Hozelock fitting.

Why do reviews mention cutting the ends?

More than one UK review says the coil ends arrive sealed or squashed, and about half an inch has to be cut off before a connector will go on.

How heavy is it?

The item-weight field says 3.72 kg, the highest weight in this 30 m set.

Flexi Hose black, 100 ft expandable

Rank 3

Flexi Hose black, 100 ft expandable

∼£30

Our view

On amazon.co.uk this black Flexi Hose is listed at about £29.99 with 4.1 from 47,222 reviews, the largest count in this set. The listing shows Best Sellers Rank 1 in Garden Hoses. The length fields say 100 ft and 30.48 m. It is an expandable hose. UK reviews praise compact storage and also report holes after a season or two and snapped connectors. The bullets point the fittings at US taps.

Pros

  • Stores much smaller than a coil once empty
  • Brass fittings praised on first use
  • Mist and other patterns used on pots
  • Large UK review sample at 4.1

Cons

  • Holes reported by a third summer
  • Plastic connector snapped after a few uses
  • Heavier than earlier expanding hoses for some buyers
  • US-tap wording in the bullets

Best for: You want the biggest amazon.co.uk review sample on a 100 ft expandable hose and you will store it empty.

Less suitable: You need a fixed 30 m coil for a reel, or a listing that names BSP threads.

Common questions

Does the black Flexi Hose listing include a spray nozzle?

Included Components say Hose. The bullets describe an 8-pattern ABS nozzle. Treat the nozzle as a bullet claim, and check the box contents on the live amazon.co.uk page.

Will the brass connectors fit a UK outside tap?

The bullets say solid 3/4 inch brass connectors for typical outdoor garden taps in the US. They do not name 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch BSP. One UK review says it screws onto an outside tap.

How long is this hose?

The item-length field says 100 feet and the dimension line says 30.48 m. The bullets say it reaches that length under standard pressure and shortens when the water is off.

Faithfull 30 m reinforced hose, 12.7 mm

Rank 4

Faithfull 30 m reinforced hose, 12.7 mm

∼£21

Our view

Faithfull's 30 m reinforced hose is about £20.87 with 4.1 from 5,562 reviews, the largest sample among the fixed-length coils here. The title bore is 12.7 mm, the pressure field says 20 bar, and the bullets name a 5-year guarantee and -10°C to +40°C. It is hose only. UK reviews accept the length and complain about kinks.

Pros

  • Length matches what buyers needed
  • Preferred to an expanding hose by some
  • Light for 30 m
  • 5-year guarantee in the bullets
  • Large review sample at a low price in this set

Cons

  • Kinks easily
  • Soft enough to pinch
  • Flow drops along the length for some
  • No connectors in the box

Best for: You want a fixed 30 m PVC coil, you already own 12.5 mm fittings, and you will wind it without storing kinks.

Less suitable: You need a gun in the box, or you want an expandable hose for a small cupboard.

Common questions

Does the Faithfull 30 m hose include fittings?

Included Components say 1. The bullets do not name a tap connector or a nozzle. A UK review says you fit the gun and tap connectors yourself.

What does 20 bar mean on this listing?

The maximum-pressure field says 20 bars. The bullets describe high-pressure use. BS 3746's working-pressure note for complying PVC hose is up to 7 bar, so read 20 bar as the listing's figure, not as your tap pressure.

Why do reviews mention kinks?

Kink is the most common word in the UK review text for this ASIN. Reviewers also call it light, and some say it pinches. Splits are present but less often than kinks.

Draper 30 m hose and spray gun kit

Rank 5

Draper 30 m hose and spray gun kit

∼£24

Our view

The Draper kit is about £23.90 with 4.1 from 253 reviews. It is a 30 m reinforced hose with a gun and BSP connectors named in the bullets, and it is the only listing here that mentions BS 3746. The listed weight is 998 g. UK reviews include a hose that does the job, and also first-use leaks, exposed braid, and a gun broken by frost. The listing includes UK reviews from 2026 and from 2011 to 2013.

Pros

  • Connectors and a gun in the price
  • BSP sizes named
  • Easy fit and decent flow for some buyers
  • Brand cited over no-name hose

Cons

  • Wall leaks and bubbles on first pressure
  • Exposed braid
  • Holes within hours for some
  • Gun snapped in a frost
  • Not kink-free

Best for: You want a 30 m reinforced hose with a gun and named BSP connectors, and you will look at recent reviews rather than only the 4.1 average.

Less suitable: You need a published bar figure, or a 5-year guarantee printed the way Faithfull prints one.

Common questions

Which threads does the Draper kit name?

The bullets name a 1/2 inch BSP tap connector, two hose connectors and a 3/4 inch BSP accessory connector, plus a five-pattern spray gun.

Does the listing give a bar rating?

The maximum-pressure field is empty. The bullets cite BS 3746 and a minimum 2 mm wall, not a bar number.

Are the reviews all recent?

The aggregate is 4.1 from 253. The listing includes UK reviews from 2026 and also from 2011 to 2013, so the text is not one production batch.

Viosmut expandable, title 30 m

Rank 6

Viosmut expandable, title 30 m

∼£30

Our view

The Viosmut listing is about £29.99 with 4.1 from 102 reviews on the UK page. The item length is 30 m and a bullet claims up to 45 m, while review text on the ASIN talks about 15 m. Fittings are described as 1/2 and 3/4 inch brass. There is no pressure figure.

Pros

  • Shrinks for storage
  • On/off at the spray head praised
  • Fittings liked when they match the tap
  • Lightweight in reviews

Cons

  • Wall leaks on a replacement unit
  • Not Hozelock compatible in one review
  • Length described as 15 m by some reviewers
  • Outer fabric fraying early

Best for: You want a blue-black expandable kit and you will confirm the length on the size selector.

Less suitable: You need a Hozelock click fit, or a length you can trust from the title alone.

Common questions

Is this Viosmut listing definitely 30 m?

The title and the item-length field say 30 metres. A bullet says the hose extends up to 45 metres. Several UK reviews on the same ASIN describe a 15 m hose that shrinks to about 5 m. Check the size selector.

Does it fit Hozelock fittings?

The listing does not claim Hozelock compatibility. One UK review says it is not Hozelock compatible and did not fit a 3-way adapter or the tap.

What spray gun is included?

Included Components say spray nozzle. The bullets list 10 modes. One review says on/off is a switch where the hose meets the sprayer, not a trigger.

Alederways expandable, 100 ft kit

Rank 7

Alederways expandable, 100 ft kit

∼£27

Our view

Alederways is about £26.99 with 4.0 from 29 reviews. The kit list is fuller than a bare coil: a gun, a 2-in-1 tap connection, tape and a hook. There is no bar figure. The UK sample is too small to treat 4.0 as a settled durability record, and leaks at the fittings are already in it.

Pros

  • Feels more solid than a cheaper expandable hose
  • Light to carry
  • Gun and tap connection in the box
  • Spare gasket and tape included

Cons

  • Leaks at fittings
  • Full length unreliable on a weak tap
  • Cover wear mentioned early
  • Only 29 reviews

Best for: You want a 100 ft expandable kit with a tap connector and spares, and you can live with a small review count.

Less suitable: You want a large UK review sample, or a fixed-length coil.

Common questions

What comes in the Alederways box?

The included-components line lists a 10-function spray gun, a quick coupling, a 2-in-1 faucet connection, a spare gasket, sealing tape and a large hook. The bullets also name a brass tap connector.

Is there a pressure figure?

The maximum-pressure field is empty. The bullets say leak-proof and burst-resistant without a bar number.

Will it reach 30 m on a weak tap?

The listing claims 3x expansion to the stated length. UK reviews in this small sample say it can fall short when tap pressure is low.

Flexi Hose green, 100 ft expandable

Rank 8

Flexi Hose green, 100 ft expandable

∼£30

Our view

The green Flexi Hose is about £29.99 with 3.8 from 54 reviews, a smaller and lower score than the black Flexi Hose listing. Length fields agree on 30.48 m. UK reviews like the expansion and then report snapped connectors, the hose leaving the gun, and early holes. The origin line on the listing is Thailand.

Pros

  • Expands and packs into a bag
  • Thicker than older flexible hoses for some buyers
  • Nozzle included
  • 2-year warranty named in the bullets

Cons

  • Connector snapped after three uses
  • Hose came off the spray gun
  • Split at the nozzle within about two weeks
  • Small holes appeared quickly

Best for: You specifically want the green Flexi Hose and you accept a 54-review sample.

Less suitable: You want the larger review sample on the black Flexi Hose, or a reinforced coil.

Both print 100 ft and 30.48 m. This green listing weighs 1.31 kg on the listing and the black one weighs 2.25 kg. The material field here says ABS.

CLMCL expandable, item length 100 ft

Rank 9

CLMCL expandable, item length 100 ft

∼£18

Our view

CLMCL is about £17.99, the lowest price here, with 3.4 from 2,657 reviews. The item-length field says 100 feet inside a title that also lists 25 ft, 50 ft, 75 ft and 125 ft. The pressure field says 6 bar and the listed weight is 750 g. UK reviews describe bursts and splits far more often than long service.

Pros

  • Light and compact while it works
  • Easy first setup
  • 8-mode gun named in the bullets
  • Lowest shelf price in the set

Cons

  • Bursts and pinholes within weeks
  • Spray trigger blew off
  • Punctures if the hose is caught
  • 3.4 from a large sample

Best for: You are buying the cheapest 100 ft expandable option and you treat early failure as a likely outcome.

Less suitable: You want a hose with a 4-plus score and a reinforced wall.

Common questions

Which length is this CLMCL listing?

The title lists 25 ft, 50 ft, 75 ft, 100 ft and 125 ft. The item-length field says 100 feet. One UK review says they chose 100 ft. Select that option if 30 m is the target.

What pressure does the listing print?

The maximum-pressure field says 6 bars, the lowest bar figure among the kept listings that print one.

What do UK reviews say about life?

Across 2,657 reviews the score is 3.4. The UK text on the listing repeatedly describes pinholes, splits and bursts within minutes, about six weeks, or a lightly used summer.

How we compared

The nine scores come from stars and review counts on the amazon.co.uk listings. Stars supply up to 60 points: the star rating divided by 5, times 60. Review count supplies up to 25 points on a log scale towards 10,000 reviews. There is no separate equipment score. A large sample can lift a lower star line: CLMCL scores 62 from 3.4 and 2,657 reviews, the same score as Viosmut at 4.1 from 102. Lukiegale scores 66 from a listing line of 4.8 and 26, and the review texts are from Canada, not the UK. The top pick is the black Flexi Hose, score 74, from 4.1 and 47,222 reviews. The best value is the Faithfull 30 m coil, score 73, at about £20.87, from 4.1 and 5,562 reviews. This is not a laboratory test. The weights below follow the buying order and sum to 100.

1

Measured reach

25%

Measure the route from the outside tap and add slack. A 30 m coil is a typical UK length for a medium or large plot. Extra length cuts flow. On an expandable hose, 30 m or 100 ft is the length under pressure, often about three times the empty length.

2

Hose type

25%

A reinforced PVC coil stays 30 m with the tap off and suits frequent watering on a reel. An expandable hose suits a small store if you accept the split-and-leak pattern in reviews. Lay-flat is a separate BS 3746 type and is not these listings.

3

Bore and thread

20%

12.5 mm (½ inch) is the usual domestic bore. 19 mm (¾ inch) moves more water if the tap can supply it. Most outdoor taps are ¾ inch BSP and some older taps are ½ inch BSP. A US-tap bullet does not name BSP.

4

Pressure wording

15%

BS 3746:1990 covers PVC garden hose for cold water at working pressures up to 7 bar, and not for drinking water. A high bar line on a listing is often burst, not tap pressure. About 2 bar is a household rule of thumb.

5

Box contents and reviews

15%

A bare coil is a different buy from a starter set with a gun. Review text on these listings mentions kinks on reinforced coils and holes, splits and early leaks on expandable hoses. Stars and counts are the amazon.co.uk lines. They are not a lab test.

30m garden hose buying guide

Choose by measured reach, then by hose type, then by bore and thread. Prices on amazon.co.uk in this set run from about £17.99 to about £32.19. That split is a snapshot of these nine listings, not a live tick.

What to check on a 30m garden hose

A 30m garden hose is a reach decision before it is a catalogue decision. Measure the route from the outside tap to the furthest bed, then add slack for corners and for the loop at the tap. Easy Garden Irrigation calls 30 m a typical UK coil, alongside 15 m, 50 m and 100 m, and says extra length cuts flow. A short hose suits a balcony. A 30 m coil suits a medium or large plot. A 15 m, 50 m or 100 m product is another category. Two constructions share this search.

Best for

  • A medium or large plot where one 30 m coil reaches the far bed
  • A small store or balcony, if you store an expandable hose empty

Not ideal for

  • A route you have not measured from the outside tap
  • Drinking water, a submerged hose end, or a hosepipe ban at your address

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Buying 30 m before you measure the route

A 30 m coil is a typical UK length, not a guarantee it reaches your far bed. Add slack for corners. Extra length cuts flow, so a longer hose is not an automatic upgrade.

  2. 2

Treating an expandable length as a fixed coil

On an expandable hose, 30 m or 100 ft is the length under pressure. Empty, it is often about a third of that. A title that also says 15 m, or a bullet that says up to 45 m, needs a check on the size selector.

  3. 3

Reading burst pressure as tap pressure

BS 3746:1990 covers PVC garden hose for cold water up to 7 bar working pressure, and not for drinking water. A 20 bar field is the listing's figure. About 2 bar is a household rule of thumb. A US-tap bullet does not name BSP.

What to weigh up

Reach and hose type

High

Measure from the outside tap, then decide whether you need a reinforced coil that stays 30 m with the water off or an expandable hose whose stated length appears only under pressure. A reel wants the coil. A small cupboard is the case for an expandable hose, with the split-and-leak pattern in the reviews kept in view. A 15 m, 50 m or 100 m product is another category.

Bore, thread, pressure and the box

High

Take 12.5 mm as the usual domestic bore and match the connector to ¾ inch or ½ inch BSP on the tap you actually have. Keep a working-pressure figure separate from a burst figure, and remember BS 3746 hose is not drinking water. A bare coil assumes you own the fittings. A gun in the box can be the part that leaks. If the open end can sit in a butt or a pond, fit the backflow protection WRAS IRN R060 describes for a house garden.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Medium or large plot

You want one reel hose that reaches the far bed without a 50 m coil to drag. The Faithfull 30 m reinforced hose is about £20.87, score 73, with 4.1 from 5,562 reviews. The title bore is 12.7 mm and the box is hose only. UK reviews complain about kinks. Skip it if you need a gun in the box.

Small store or balcony

You will accept an expandable hose for light watering and you can store it empty. The black Flexi Hose is about £29.99, score 74, with 4.1 from 47,222 reviews. The length fields say 100 ft and 30.48 m. UK reviews report holes after a season or two and snapped connectors. Skip it if you need a fixed coil for a reel.

Connectors you already own

You are replacing a split coil around 12.5 mm and the connectors you already own should fit. The Faithfull hose is hose only, with 12.7 mm in the title, at about £20.87. A UK review says you fit the gun and tap connectors yourself. Skip it if you wanted a starter set in the box.

Common questions about 30m garden hoses

What length is a 30m garden hose?
A 30m garden hose is the usual bare length for a medium or large UK garden after you measure the route from the outside tap and add slack for corners. A reinforced PVC coil stays that length with the tap off. An expandable hose uses 30 m or 100 ft for the length under pressure, and the empty hose is often about a third of that. Easy Garden Irrigation calls 30 m a typical UK coil, alongside 15 m, 50 m and 100 m, and says extra length cuts flow.
Which listing is the top pick?
The top pick is the black Flexi Hose expandable listing at about £29.99. The score is 74, from 4.1 and 47,222 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest count in this set. The length fields say 100 ft and 30.48 m. Included components say hose. The bullets name an 8-pattern nozzle and brass connectors aimed at US taps. UK reviews praise compact storage and also report holes after a season or two and snapped connectors. Store it empty.
Which listing is the best value?
The best value is the Faithfull 30 m reinforced hose at about £20.87. The score is 73, from 4.1 and 5,562 reviews, the largest sample among the fixed-length coils here. The title bore is 12.7 mm and the box is hose only, so you fit connectors you already own. The pressure field says 20 bar, which is the listing figure, not your tap pressure. UK reviews accept the length and complain about kinks. The bullets name a 5-year guarantee.
Should you buy an expandable hose or a reinforced coil?
Choose a reinforced coil when you water often and wind the hose on a reel. It stays about 30 m with the tap off. Choose an expandable hose when storage is tight and the watering is light. The stated length is the length under pressure, and the empty hose is much shorter. Kinks show up in reviews of reinforced coils. Holes, splits and early leaks show up in reviews of expandable hoses. Do not leave a hose full through a freeze.
Will a 30m garden hose fit a UK outside tap?
Hozelock says most outdoor taps are ¾ inch BSP and some older taps are ½ inch BSP. The connector has to match that thread. A bullet written for a US outdoor tap does not name BSP, so check the fitting before you rely on it. A 12.5 mm or 12.7 mm bore is the usual domestic hose. If the measured route is longer than 30 m, a 50m garden hose is the next common coil, and extra length cuts flow.
What does a high bar figure mean?
BS 3746:1990 covers PVC garden hose for cold water at working pressures up to 7 bar, and that hose is not for drinking water. A line such as 6 bar, 12 bar or 20 bar is the figure printed on that listing. A high number is often burst pressure, not the pressure at a house tap. Easy Garden Irrigation uses about 2 bar as a household rule of thumb. The field is not a drinking-water approval.
Can a hosepipe ban stop you using a new hose?
A temporary use ban under the Water Industry Act 1991, section 76, can stop hosepipe watering. Ofwat states the fine can reach £1,000. Water UK's FAQ listed bans at several English companies, including Thames Water, and that FAQ was updated on 12 October 2026. Scotland and Northern Ireland follow their own suppliers. Check the company on your bill. A ban in another region is not a ban at your address.
When should you call a plumber?
Call a plumber if the outside tap has no backflow device, if you need a new tap or a pipe through a wall, or if the supply may sit in a higher fluid category than a house garden. The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 require protection suited to that risk. For a house garden, WRAS IRN R060 expects a double check valve out of the frost, or a type HA device on an existing hose-union tap. The Met Office warns against a submerged hose end.
