Parquet adhesive comparison 2026

The best parquet adhesives, compared.

Top pick: Bostik floating parquet glue, 500 g Best value: Sika SikaBond MS – Lowest shelf price in this set: about £12.11 for 600 ml, with wood flooring, skirtings and underfloor heating named on the uses field. Updated 22 October 2026.

A parquet adhesive bonds a wood floor to a subfloor. In the UK you buy it as a cartridge, a small bag, or a tub you spread with a notched trowel. One bottle only glues the tongues and grooves of a floating floor, and that bead does not stick the boards to the screed. You match the pack to the job, the adhesive class to the board width, and the sheet to the screed. BS EN ISO 17178 sets hard and hard-elastic shear classes. Coverage is grams per square metre, not a guess from the tub weight. Underfloor heating belongs only on a product whose listing or sheet names it. Those checks are in the [parquet adhesive buying guide](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/parquet-adhesive/sub/parquet-adhesive-buying-guide). Silane and MS hybrids are one-component and water-free. They cure with moisture from the air, so an opened tub skins if you leave it uncovered. Polyurethane is more rigid and can contain diisocyanates. Gap filler, joint sealant and joinery glue will not lay a parquet bed.

The best parquet adhesives in detail

Bostik floating parquet glue, 500 g

Rank 1

Bostik floating parquet glue, 500 g

∼£15

Our view

The Bostik bottle is about £15.24 for 500 g, and the bullets say it bonds floating tongues and grooves rather than laying a full bed under the boards. The feature field says quick grip and moisture resistant, and the water-resistance field says water resistant. The star line is 5.0 from two amazon.co.uk reviews, and the saved listing has no review text, so those two stars do not describe a method or a failure. The material field says vinyl, the volume field says 500 millilitres beside a 500 gram unit count, and the item weight is 700 g, so the pack figures do not agree. It is the floating-floor glue in this set, useful when you are locking joints on a floor that is not stuck to the screed. It is the wrong bottle if you need to bond parquet down, because the listing never claims that job, and two blank five-star ratings do not change the uses field.

Pros

  • 500 g bottle at about £15.24 for floating tongues and grooves
  • Feature field says quick grip and moisture resistant
  • 5.0 from two amazon.co.uk reviews
  • A bottle you run as a bead, not a 15 kg pail

Cons

  • No review text in the file behind the two five-star ratings
  • The listing does not claim a full bed on the screed
  • Pack fields disagree: 500 g, 500 ml and a 700 g item weight
  • Underfloor heating is not named

Best for: You are gluing the tongues and grooves of a floating floor and you do not need a trowel bed.

Less suitable: You need to stick boards to the screed, or you want a heating line on the listing.

Common questions

What is this glue for?

The bullets say a 500 g bottle for bonding floating tongues and grooves. The uses field says flooring installation.

Does the listing say it sticks a floor to the screed?

No. It names floating grooves and tongues, not a full bed under the boards.

Is it described as moisture resistant?

The feature field says quick grip and moisture resistant. The water-resistance field says water resistant.

Sika SikaBond 5500S, 16 kg

Rank 2

Sika SikaBond 5500S, 16 kg

∼£128

Our view

The Sika SikaBond 5500S listing is the 16 kg tub at about £127.99, and the three UK review texts in the file describe wood block floors rather than a cartridge repair. Across 16 amazon.co.uk ratings the line is 4.6, the only double-digit count in this set, which is why it is the top pick here and not because a lab ranked the bond. Two of those three texts mention a strong smell and the need to ventilate, and one says the tin reseals between uses. The usage field says wood, and underfloor heating appears only as a question, so this page does not tell you the tub suits a heated screed. The title says 16 kg while the details also say 16.79 kg and the item weight is 16.8 kg, and the bullets name a 300 ml metal-grey product that is not this tub. Chemistry is not stated, so you cannot treat the listing as solvent-free or isocyanate-free. If you are bonding wood blocks and you want the fullest review line in the file, this is the tub to weigh, with the smell and the missing heating line as the limits.

Pros

  • 4.6 from 16 amazon.co.uk reviews, the only double-digit count in this set
  • About £127.99 for a tub the title calls 16 kg
  • UK review texts describe wood block floors
  • One review says the tin reseals between uses

Cons

  • Two of three review texts mention a strong smell and ventilation
  • Underfloor heating is only a question, not a stated use
  • Chemistry is not stated, so solvent-free and isocyanate-free are not on the page
  • Bullets name a 300 ml metal-grey product, and the weight fields disagree

Best for: You are bonding wood block flooring and you want the only tub in this set with a double-digit review count.

Less suitable: You need a listing that names underfloor heating, a stated chemistry, or a 600 ml cartridge for a short repair.

Common questions

Does this listing say it suits underfloor heating?

Sika SikaBond MS, 600 ml

Rank 3

Sika SikaBond MS, 600 ml

∼£12

Our view

The Sika SikaBond MS cartridge is about £12.11 for 600 ml in parquet brown, and the uses field lists wood flooring, skirting boards and underfloor heating. The feature field calls it elastic, sound-dampening, solvent-free and odourless, with a 24-hour full cure and a water-resistance field that says waterproof. The star line is 4.6 from only three amazon.co.uk reviews, and the two texts in the file are one line each, so this is a thin sample beside the 16-review tub. It is the best value pick in this set because it is the lowest shelf price, not because three stars outrank a tub. The bullets name a 1 litre PVA, which is a different product, and the material field says polymer blend rather than a full safety data sheet. You can treat it as a cartridge for a short run of wood flooring or skirtings when that uses field matches the job. Skip it when you need a 15 kg bed and a published trowel rate, which this page does not give.

Pros

  • About £12.11, the lowest shelf price in this set
  • Uses field names wood flooring, skirtings and underfloor heating
  • Feature field says solvent-free and elastic, with a 24-hour full cure
  • Water-resistance field says waterproof

Cons

  • 4.6 from only three reviews, and both texts in the file are one line
  • Bullets name a 1 litre PVA that is not this cartridge
  • No trowel rate or coverage on the listing
  • The material field says polymer blend, not a full chemistry sheet

Best for: You are repairing a short run of wood flooring or fixing skirtings and you want the lowest cartridge price in this set.

Less suitable: You need a notched-trowel tub for a whole room, or a review count you can lean on before you buy.

Bona R848T parquet adhesive, 15 kg

Rank 4

Bona R848T parquet adhesive, 15 kg

∼£173

Our view

The Bona R848T 15 kg listing is about £172.88, and the title names multi-layer parquet and dimensionally stable solid parquet as rod or mosaic, with underfloor heating on the title and on a bullet. It is sold as one-component, and Bona’s sheet classes R848T as a hard-elastic silane, though the amazon material field says silicone and the container field says syringe. The star line is 4.2 from two reviews, and the only review text, written in Germany, says the adhesive was partly dried out and the seller refunded part of the cost. The title says waterproof while the water-resistance field says water resistant, and the page does not give a full-cure time, only quick-drying on the title. At this price you are paying more than the 16 kg Sika tub for a named heating line and a stated parquet use, with almost no UK review text. Check the tub has not skinned before you spread a room, because that dried-pack complaint is the concrete limit in the file.

Pros

  • Title and a bullet name underfloor heating
  • Uses name multi-layer parquet and stable solid rod or mosaic
  • 15 kg pack for a full bed rather than a cartridge repair
  • Bona’s sheet classes R848T as hard-elastic silane

Cons

  • 4.2 from two reviews, and the only text says the adhesive was partly dried
  • The amazon material field says silicone, which the Bona sheet does not
  • The title says waterproof and the field says water resistant
  • About £172.88, above the 16 kg Sika tub, with no full-cure time on the page

Best for: You want a 15 kg tub whose listing names multi-layer parquet and underfloor heating, and you will check the tub is still soft.

Less suitable: You need a double-digit UK review count, or you will treat the word silicone on the amazon page as the chemistry.

Common questions

Does it name underfloor heating?

Bona R848T parquet adhesive, 1 kg

Rank 5

Bona R848T parquet adhesive, 1 kg

∼£20

Our view

The Bona R848T 1 kg listing is a tubular bag at about £19.89, described as 62.5 mm, and the uses field says parquet and wood without a species or a board width. There is no star line, so this page gives you no buyer text to read before you order and the score sits at zero. The listing asks how much coverage 1 kg gives and does not answer it, and it does not repeat the underfloor-heating line that sits on the 15 kg R848T title. The brand cell says werketto, which does not match Bona on the title, so you should confirm the bag before you treat the page as a clean Bona listing. It is the small pack in this set when a 15 kg tub is more than the room needs, at a price between the cartridge and the tubs. It is a weak page if you need heating named on this listing itself, or any review count at all.

Pros

  • 1 kg tubular bag at about £19.89
  • Uses field names parquet and wood
  • A smaller pack than the 15 kg R848T bucket
  • The same R848T name as the larger Bona tub

Cons

  • No star line and no review text
  • Coverage is asked on the page and not answered
  • Underfloor heating is not named on this listing
  • The brand cell says werketto

Best for: You want a 1 kg R848T bag for a small parquet job and you will take coverage from the Bona sheet, not from this page.

Less suitable: You need underfloor heating stated on the listing, or any amazon.co.uk review count before you buy.

Is a coverage rate given?

No. The listing asks how much coverage 1 kg gives and does not answer it.

Bona Titan adhesive, 15 kg

Rank 6

Bona Titan adhesive, 15 kg

∼£231

Our view

The Bona Titan listing is a 15 kg pail at about £231.34, the highest price in this set, and a bullet calls it silane, solvent-free and very low emissions (EC1-R Plus), with no primer required and suitable for underfloor heating. The uses field includes flooring, wood, ceramic tiles and heating, and the page states a 12-hour full cure and water resistance. There is no star line, so you have no amazon.co.uk review text for this tub, which is why the score is zero despite the fullest specification block in the file. Coverage is printed as about 850 g/m³ for a Bona 850 F toothed strip, and the volume field says 15 litres beside a 15 kg title, so you should not treat every cell as consistent. A specialist shop’s lower figure is not this amazon.co.uk shelf price. It suits a heated wooden floor when you want silane and a heating line on the listing and you accept a tub with no stars. Skip it when you wanted the cheapest 15 kg pail, or a review count before you spend this much.

Pros

  • Bullet says silane, solvent-free, EC1-R Plus, and no primer required
  • Underfloor heating is named, with a 12-hour full cure on the listing
  • Uses include wood flooring
  • Described as water resistant, in a high-viscosity pail

Cons

  • About £231.34, the highest price in this set, and no star line
  • Coverage is printed as about 850 g/m³
  • The volume field says 15 litres beside a 15 kg title
  • The colour cell is broken between clear and transparent

Best for: You want a 15 kg silane tub whose listing names underfloor heating and a solvent-free line, and you can accept no reviews.

Less suitable: You need amazon.co.uk stars before you spend about £231.34, or you expected a specialist shop’s lower price.

How we compared

Six amazon.co.uk parquet adhesive listings were scored on a 0–100 scale from the star rating and the review count. This is not a laboratory test. Amazon evidence is 75 points. A missing star line scores 0. The only double-digit count in the set is 16 reviews at 4.6. Review text is 25 points, and the score is capped when the texts are one line or missing. The highest score is the top pick. The best value is the lowest shelf price in the set. That award is separate from the score. A named heating use, a solvent-free line and the pack size are taken from the listing and do not replace a missing star line. Prices are the amazon.co.uk shelf prices on 19 October 2026.

Parquet adhesive buying guide

Match the pack to the job, the adhesive class to the board width, and the sheet to screed moisture and underfloor heating. A waterproof word is not a damp-proof membrane, and a missing star line is not a hidden lab score.

What is parquet adhesive?

A parquet adhesive bonds a wood floor to a subfloor. UK packs are a 600 ml cartridge, a 1 kg bag, or a 15–16 kg tub. A full bed under engineered, mosaic or solid parquet is a notched-trowel tub. A floating floor only needs tongue-and-groove glue, which does not stick the boards to the screed. A few loose wood tiles can be a 600 ml cartridge. Gap filler, joint sealant, wood putty and general joinery glue show up in the same search and do not do this job.

Best for

  • A notched-trowel bed under engineered, mosaic or solid parquet
  • A short wood-floor repair, or tongue-and-groove glue on a floating floor

Not ideal for

  • Gap filler, joint sealant, wood putty or general joinery glue used as a screed bed
  • A heated screed when the listing never names underfloor heating

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

The wrong product from the search

Gap filler, joint sealant, wood putty and general joinery glue are not a parquet bed. Floating-floor glue locks tongues and grooves. It does not stick the floor to the screed.

  2. 2

Open time and the wrong meter

Bona R848T’s open time is about 30 minutes. An opened hybrid tub skins in the air. A pin meter is not the hygrometer test in the Floorscape summary of BS 8201.

  3. 3

    Reading a mark as strength

EC1 Plus is an emissions mark, not a shear class. The 16 kg Sika listing does not state solvent-free, isocyanate-free or underfloor heating. The word silicone on the R848T amazon field is not the Bona sheet.

What to weigh up

Class and board width

High

BS EN ISO 17178:2020 defines hard as shear strength of 3.0 N/mm² or more, and hard-elastic as 2.0 N/mm² or more with shear elongation of 0.5 or more. It supersedes BS EN 14293:2006. Bona classes Titan as hard and R848T as hard-elastic. Elastic MS sheets publish a width cap. Soudal MS-20 Plus states solid boards up to 160 mm. A board wider than the published limit is a fitter’s job, not a guess from the tub weight.

Moisture and heat

High

Floorscape’s summary of BS 8201, BS 8203 and BS 5325 uses 75% equilibrium relative humidity as the usual pass, and not more than 65% RH for some timber over underfloor heating. Switch the heating off for 96 hours before a hygrometer test. Do not convert those figures into carbide-bomb percentages. Bona’s Titan sheet says the screed should not sit above 25 °C during installation and for three days after, and that the bed slows vapour without replacing a structural damp-proof membrane.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Wood block floor

You are bonding wood blocks and you want the only double-digit review count in this set. Sika SikaBond 5500S is the top pick: a tub the title calls 16 kg, about £127.99, 4.6 from 16 amazon.co.uk reviews. Two of three UK texts mention a strong smell. Heating is only a question, and the chemistry is not stated.

Short repair

You are repairing a short run of wood flooring or fixing skirtings. Sika SikaBond MS is the best value at about £12.11 for 600 ml. The uses field names wood flooring, skirtings and underfloor heating, with a 24-hour full cure. The line is 4.6 from three reviews, and the bullets name a 1 litre PVA that is not this cartridge.

Heated screed

You need a listing that names underfloor heating and a screed inside the temperature cap. Bona Titan is a 15 kg silane tub at about £231.34. A bullet says solvent-free, EC1-R Plus and heating, with a 12-hour full cure. The sheet caps the screed at 25 °C during fitting and for three days after. There is no star line.

Common questions about parquet adhesives

Which parquet adhesive is the top pick in 2026?
The top pick is Sika SikaBond 5500S, the tub the title calls 16 kg, at about £127.99. On amazon.co.uk it is 4.6 from 16 reviews, the only double-digit count in this set. Three UK review texts describe wood block floors. Two of those texts mention a strong smell and ventilation, and one says the tin reseals. Underfloor heating is only a question, and the listing does not state the chemistry. The score is that review line, not a laboratory test.
Which parquet adhesive is the best value?
The best value is Sika SikaBond MS, a 600 ml cartridge at about £12.11, the lowest shelf price in this set. The uses field lists wood flooring, skirting boards and underfloor heating. The feature field says elastic, sound-dampening, solvent-free and odourless, with a 24-hour full cure, and the water-resistance field says waterproof. The star line is 4.6 from only three reviews, and both texts are one line. The bullets name a 1 litre PVA, which is a different product.
How much does parquet adhesive cost?
On amazon.co.uk on 19 October 2026 these six listings run from about £12.11 to about £231.34. The 600 ml Sika cartridge is about £12.11, the Bostik 500 g bottle about £15.24, and the Bona 1 kg bag about £19.89. The Sika tub titled 16 kg is about £127.99, and Bona R848T 15 kg is about £172.88. Bona Titan 15 kg is about £231.34. A specialist page listed that tub at £150.66 including VAT, which is not the amazon.co.uk price.
Can you use parquet adhesive with underfloor heating?
Only when the listing or the data sheet names underfloor heating. In this set that is the Sika 600 ml cartridge, Bona R848T 15 kg and Bona Titan 15 kg. The 16 kg Sika tub, the 1 kg bag and the Bostik bottle do not state it. Bona’s Titan sheet caps the screed at 25 °C during fitting and for three days after, and the bed is not a structural damp-proof membrane. The listings that name heat are in parquet adhesive and underfloor heating.
Is floating-floor glue the same as a parquet bed?
No. The Bostik bottle, about £15.24 for 500 g, is for floating tongues and grooves. The bullets do not say it sticks boards to the screed. The feature field says quick grip and moisture resistant, and the water-resistance field says water resistant. The star line is 5.0 from two reviews, and there is no review text. Pack fields disagree: 500 g, 500 ml and a 700 g item weight. Underfloor heating is not named. Use a notched-trowel tub when the floor has to bond to the subfloor.
Do you need a caulking gun for a parquet cartridge?
Yes, for the 600 ml Sika SikaBond MS cartridge. It is a standard cartridge, not a tub you spread with a trowel. The caulking gun comparison covers the tool, not which adhesive to buy. The 15 kg and 16 kg packs are pails or tubs, and the 1 kg R848T is a tubular bag. The Bostik product is a 500 g bottle you run as a bead. A gun does not lay a full-bed tub.
When should you call a fitter?
Call a fitter if you cannot record screed moisture, the heating has not been commissioned, the board is wider than the published limit, or the base is anhydrite with laitance or may lack a structural damp-proof membrane. A parquet bed is not that membrane. Switch the heating off for 96 hours before a hygrometer test. The usual pass in the Floorscape summary is 75% equilibrium relative humidity, and not more than 65% RH for some timber over underfloor heating. Do not convert those figures into carbide-bomb percentages.
Is the 16 kg Sika tub solvent-free?
The listing does not say. Sika SikaBond 5500S does not state its chemistry, so this page does not call it solvent-free, isocyanate-free, or suitable for underfloor heating. The usage field says wood. The title says 16 kg, the details also say 16.79 kg, and the item weight is 16.8 kg. The bullets name a 300 ml metal-grey product that is not this tub. From 24 August 2023, industrial or professional use of diisocyanates needs training. You cannot tell the chemistry from this listing.

Our verdict

The top pick is Sika SikaBond 5500S at about £127.99. The title calls it a 16 kg tub, and amazon.co.uk shows 4.6 from 16 reviews, the only double-digit count in this set. Three UK texts describe wood block floors. Two mention a strong smell and ventilation. Underfloor heating is only a question, and the chemistry is not stated, so this page does not call the tub solvent-free or suitable for a heated screed. The best value is Sika SikaBond MS at about £12.11, the lowest shelf price here: a 600 ml cartridge whose uses field names wood flooring, skirtings and underfloor heating. That line is 4.6 from three reviews, and the bullets name a 1 litre PVA that is not this cartridge.
