It is not a fixed shed bench and it is not a desk. The useful split on amazon.co.uk is a folding vice bench, a folding clamp table, or a rolling wooden bench. Bar clamps, dogs and a suit panels and odd shapes. A plain wooden top does not clamp a pipe. A folded depth around 9–13 cm suits a cupboard or a boot. A 120 cm rolling bench never becomes that slim. A 900 kg claim on a wooden bench is a seller figure, not a result measured here. What to decide on type, height and load is in the [mobile workbench buying guide](/hub/workshop/mobile-workbench/sub/mobile-workbench-buying-guide). A mobile workbench is a bench you can fold and carry, or roll and park. The 301 and the 600 are vice benches. The, the 2-in-1 and the 100 are clamp tables. The two models are 120 cm rubber-wood benches on wheels. The listing is a steel cart with an expandable top.

It is not a fixed shed bench and it is not a desk. The useful split on amazon.co.uk is a folding vice bench, a folding clamp table, or a rolling wooden bench. Bar clamps, dogs and a suit panels and odd shapes.

The best mobile workbenches in detail

WORX Pegasus WX051

Rank 1

WORX Pegasus WX051

∼£132

Our view

The WORX Pegasus WX051 at £131.99 is a 13.9 kg folding table and sawhorse that needs no assembly, and it comes with two quick clamps and four pegs. Across 1,978 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.8, owners open one side or both, and one of them supported a solid oak door on the plastic top. Folded, the bullets give 79 x 63.5 x 13 cm, which is the size people quote for a boot, and the bullets also say it can link to another Worx table. The amazon.co.uk load line is garbled, with a pounds figure and Italian wording, so this listing does not give you a clean kilogram claim. Plastic hinges on the lower tray unclip in reviews, and a jigsaw cut the top in one of them. A reviewer crushed a finger, and lost a fingernail, when the leaf closed on the frame, which is the limit on an otherwise quick fold.

Pros

  • No assembly, and it folds to 13 cm thick
  • Two quick clamps and four pegs in the box
  • 4.8 from 1,978 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • One side or both can open, and a second Worx table can extend it
  • A solid oak door was supported on the top in one review

Cons

  • The amazon.co.uk load line is garbled
  • Plastic hinges on the lower tray unclip
  • A finger was crushed in the fold in one review
  • A jigsaw cut the plastic top in one review

Best for: You want a clamp table that opens out of the box and stores at 13 cm thick, and you will keep your hands off the leaf.

Less suitable: You need a kilogram load you can read on the UK listing, or you fold the leaf without watching the joint.

Common questions

Does it come with clamps?

Yes. The listing includes two quick clamps and four clamp pegs.

Does it need assembly?

The listing says no. Reviewers open it and fold one side or both.

What is the stated load?

The amazon.co.uk load line is garbled, with a pounds figure and Italian wording. It is not a clean kilogram claim.

Metabo MWB 100

Rank 2

Metabo MWB 100

∼£175

Our view

The Metabo MWB 100 at £174.95 is a 22.1 kg folding table with a stated 120 kg load, a replaceable MDF top, a T-groove, 20 mm dog holes, a levelling foot and corner connectors. The listing shows 4.8 from 256 reviews, and the raw file contains two UK reviews, so that star line is not British opinion on its own. Those two reviews call the first impression solid, and one found two quick clamps clipped under the top, which the amazon bullets do not name. The same unboxing describes a dented aluminium frame around the MDF, three leg latches so stiff a soft hammer was used, and a clamp spring fitted so the clamp did nothing until it was stripped. Carrying is heavy and awkward at this folded size, though a grab handle on the underside helps a little. Assembly is required, and the three-year manufacturer warranty on the listing needs registration. Buy it when you want the levelling foot and the dog holes and you will inspect the latches and the clamps before the first cut.

Pros

  • A stated 120 kg, a levelling foot, a T-groove and 20 mm holes
  • Corner connectors for a second table
  • A replaceable MDF top in the bullets
  • Two quick clamps found under the top in a UK review
  • A three-year manufacturer warranty if you register

Cons

  • 22.1 kg and awkward to carry
  • Only two UK reviews in the raw file
  • The frame arrived dented in one of those reviews
  • Stiff latches, and a clamp spring fitted the wrong way

Best for: You want dog holes and a levelling foot on a folding table, and you will check the latches and the clamps before the first job.

Less suitable: You need a large UK review sample, a light carry up stairs, or a bench that needs no assembly.

Common questions

Does it cope with an uneven floor?

The bullets include a levelling foot for uneven surfaces.

How do you hold the work?

The bullets describe a T-groove and 20 mm dog holes, plus corner connectors for a second table. A UK reviewer also found two quick clamps under the top.

Is it light to carry?

The listing weight is 22.1 kg. The UK review that mentions carrying calls it heavy and awkward, with a grab handle that helps a little.

Bosch PWB 600

Rank 3

Bosch PWB 600

∼£152

Our view

The Bosch PWB 600 at £151.57 comes out of the carton at 11.4 kg, with a bamboo top, an aluminium frame, four blade clamps and a stated load of 200 kg. Across 5,322 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.7, reviewers open it and fold it without a build, and several call the top larger and the stored bulk smaller than an old Workmate. They use the holes for jigs, and the bullets say the blade clamps hold round and awkward pieces. Sideways flex is the limit that keeps coming back: one owner bolted a steel strip across the back frame to stiffen it. The clamps sit too tight in some holes and too loose in others, and a step between the two halves of the top annoys at least one long-term user. Leg-release buttons were hard to see for a partially sighted reviewer, so the fold is quick only after you have learned where those buttons are. In this set it is the top pick for a folding vice you do not assemble, with rack and uneven clamp fit as the conditions.

Pros

  • No assembly, it folds flat, and it weighs 11.4 kg
  • Four blade clamps, a bamboo top and a stated 200 kg
  • 4.7 from 5,322 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Holes used for jigs in reviews
  • A larger top than a small Workmate, in the reviews that make that comparison

Cons

  • Sideways flex; one owner added a steel strip
  • Clamps too tight in some holes and too loose in others
  • A step between the two halves of the top
  • Leg-release buttons hard to see

Best for: You want a folding vice that is ready to open, for DIY that is not a heavy side load.

Less suitable: You need a frame that does not rack sideways, or clamps that seat the same way in every hole.

Common questions

Do you assemble it?

The listing says no. Reviewers take it out of the carton and open it.

How does it hold the work?

Four blade clamps. The bullets say they grip round and awkward pieces. Reviewers also use the holes for jigs, and some find the clamps too tight or too loose.

Can it be used outdoors?

The listing asks the question and does not answer it. The top is bamboo and the frame is aluminium.

Pony 2-in-1 folding workbench

Rank 4

Pony 2-in-1 folding workbench

∼£160

Our view

The Pony 2-in-1 at £159.99 is a 14.5 kg aluminium bench you unfold rather than build, with four bar clamps, four dogs and two safety straps in the box. The bullets state up to 227 kg as a table and up to 454 kg as a sawhorse, and six heights from 765 mm to 890 mm. Across 1,883 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.7, the frame is called solid, and reviewers who found a Workmate too low use the height range. It folds for a workshop, a van or a car, and one owner fitted 600 mm Jorgensen clamps in the slots. The same sample calls it heavy and awkward to carry or to put up, large once it is open, and a little expensive. Those kilogram lines are listing claims, so the reason to buy it is the clamps and the six heights, if you can lift 14.5 kg.

Pros

  • Six heights from 765 mm to 890 mm
  • Four bar clamps, four dogs and two straps in the box
  • No assembly, and the aluminium frame is called solid
  • 4.7 from 1,883 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Folds for a van or a car in reviews

Cons

  • 14.5 kg, and awkward to carry or to put up
  • Large once it is open
  • The price is called a little high
  • 227 kg and 454 kg are listing claims

Best for: You want included clamps and a height you can change, and you can carry 14.5 kg.

Less suitable: You need a light bench for a flat stair, or a price close to the Workmate.

LARBANKE TS-1251O

Rank 5

LARBANKE TS-1251O

∼£140

Our view

The LARBANKE TS-1251O at £139.99 is a 120 cm rubber-wood bench you leave standing: five heights from 85 cm to 105 cm, four locking wheels, and rubber feet in the same pack according to reviewers. Across 507 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.6, garage and hobby users praise the wood top, and many finish the build in well under an hour with a screwdriver and an Allen key. A reviewer of this ASIN describes UK sockets and USB-A on the strip, which is a finding for this model, not for the other LARBANKE listing. The title's figure of over 900 kg is a seller claim, and more than one review says the legs rack unless they are braced. Top screws can strip, the instructions are poorly translated, a printed scale faded after about three months for one owner, and one reviewer says it is not sturdy enough to use as a workbench. Another found the sockets mounted upside down, so you check the plug pattern and the frame before you treat the 900 kg line as capacity.

Pros

  • Five heights from 85 cm to 105 cm, with locking wheels or feet
  • 4.6 from 507 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • A reviewer of this ASIN reports UK sockets and USB-A
  • Assembly often finished in well under an hour
  • A 120 x 50 cm rubber-wood top in the bullets

Cons

  • It does not fold, and the 900 kg line is a seller claim
  • Legs rack unless they are braced
  • Top screws can strip
  • A printed scale faded, and one strip was mounted upside down

Best for: You have space to leave a 120 cm bench standing, and you will brace the legs and check that the plug is BS 1363.

Less suitable: You need cupboard storage, jaws for a pipe, or a load that has been measured rather than printed.

Common questions

Can you change the height?

The listing says five heights from 85 cm to 105 cm. Reviewers set it with bolts, often with the bench turned over.

Does it roll?

Yes. The bullets describe four locking wheels. Reviewers also received rubber feet as an alternative.

Are the sockets UK sockets?

The bullets say an ETL strip with two AC outlets and two USB outlets. A reviewer of this ASIN describes UK sockets and USB-A. ETL is the mark printed on the listing.

LARBANKE TS-1251O-1

Rank 6

LARBANKE TS-1251O-1

∼£140

Our view

The LARBANKE TS-1251O-1, also £139.99, is a 120 cm rubberwood bench with a stated height band of 85–105 cm, braked wheels, a footrest and a 900 kg claim on the listing. Across 51 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.4, with 13 texts in the raw file, owners call it solid for the money once it is built, and one levelled an uneven garage floor on the feet. Assembly is described as about 10–15 minutes with an Allen key and a screwdriver. On this ASIN the plug is disputed: one UK review says UK sockets and USB, and another says European sockets that did not match the pictures. The frame racks: one owner made four steel corner brackets, and another found it wobbly when it was used as a sewing bench. A reviewer drilled extra holes to bring the top down to about 76 cm, because the lowest stated height was still too high for desk work. ETL in the bullets is a mark printed on the listing, and a lead that is not BS 1363 is a reason to stop.

Pros

  • Five heights claimed, with braked wheels and a footrest
  • Feet levelled an uneven garage floor in one review
  • Assembly described as about 10–15 minutes
  • 4.4 from 51 amazon.co.uk reviews

Cons

  • UK reviews disagree on whether the plug is British or European
  • The frame racks; one owner added steel corner brackets
  • 900 kg is a listing claim
  • The lowest stated height was still too high until extra holes were drilled

Best for: You want a rolling bench that stays built, and you will look at the plug before you connect it.

Less suitable: You need a confirmed BS 1363 strip, a bench that folds flat, or a top near 76 cm without drilling.

BLACK+DECKER Workmate 301

Rank 7

BLACK+DECKER Workmate 301

∼£34

Our view

At £34.00 and 6.6 kg, the BLACK+DECKER Workmate 301 folds flat and holds short work between swivel pegs and dual cranks, with a stated load of 160 kg and a compressed bamboo top in the bullets. Across 6,215 amazon.co.uk reviews at 4.3, people use it for light DIY once it is built, and they move it more easily than an older, heavier Workmate. The instruction sheet is the complaint that dominates the raw sample: the listing says English is not guaranteed, and reviewers stop on the handle pins and finish from a video. After that build, reviews still describe wobble and a flimsier feel than the Workmate they already owned, and one calls the orange clamps small. A reviewer at 6 ft 4 in found it too low, and the bullets do not give a second working height. Loose foot pads show up in one review, so you should check the feet before you lean on a cut.

Pros

  • £34.00, 6.6 kg, and it folds flat
  • 4.3 from 6,215 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Swivel pegs, jaw grooves and dual cranks
  • Stated load of 160 kg on the listing
  • Light enough to move once it is built

Cons

  • Instruction sheet often unusable; handle pins need force
  • Wobble, and a flimsier feel than an older Workmate
  • Too low for a reviewer at 6 ft 4 in
  • Loose foot pads in one review

Best for: You want a cheap folding vice for small jobs, and you will build it from a video when the sheet fails.

Less suitable: You are tall, you need a frame that stays still under a side load, or you will not assemble it.

Common questions

Does it fold away?

The listing says the Workmate 301 folds flat. Reviewers agree it stores flat once it has been built.

Do you have to assemble it?

Yes. The listing includes instructions and says English is not guaranteed. Reviewers call the sheet poor and often finish the build from a video.

What load does the listing state?

The details field states 160 kg. Reviews still describe wobble, and one tall reviewer wanted a higher bench.

Griplier rolling cart

Rank 8

Griplier rolling cart

∼£279

Our view

The Griplier cart at £279.00 lists a 26 kg steel frame, a size of 67 x 92 x 76 cm, one drawer, perforated sides and a wooden top the bullets say opens to nearly double. The stated load is 150 kg, and two of the four 5-inch castors swivel and lock. The amazon.co.uk raw file has no star line and no review text, so there is no buyer account of whether the top stays flat or the drawer runs true. It does not fold, and the bullets do not include jaws, dogs or a socket strip. Assembly is required, and the sales rank sits in Utility Carts rather than with the folding benches. Until there are UK reviews, it is a rolling cart with an expandable top, and the fit as a workbench stays uncertain.

Pros

  • An expandable wooden top in the bullets
  • A stated load of 150 kg and a listed weight of 26 kg
  • One drawer and perforated sides
  • Two of the four castors lock

Cons

  • No star rating and no review text
  • It does not fold, and no jaws or dogs are listed
  • £279.00, with an uncertain fit as a workbench
  • An open size in centimetres is not in the details

Best for: You want a rolling cart with a top that expands, and you accept that the listing has no UK reviews yet.

Less suitable: You need a folding bench, clamps, or a star rating you can read before you buy.

Common questions

Does the top get bigger?

The bullets say the wooden top opens to nearly double the work surface. An open size in centimetres is not in the details.

How we compared

Shelf prices, stars and review counts are the amazon.co.uk listings in this comparison, read on 19 October 2026. There is no lab test. The score is 0–100 from stars, the size of the review sample, fit for a mobile bench, and value in this set. The highest score is the top pick, once. The highest value mark is best value, once, and it is not given to the top pick.

1

Stars

40%

The amazon.co.uk star rating, scored as the rating divided by 5 and then times 40. A listing with no rating line scores 0. The Griplier raw file has no star line, so this block is 0.

2

Review sample

25%

1,000 or more reviews score 25. The bands step down from 200, from 50 and from 10. Fewer than 10 score 2, and no rating line scores 0. A 200-plus count whose raw file is mostly outside the United Kingdom scores 12. That is why the Metabo line, 256 reviews with two UK texts, does not score as a British pool.

3

Fit for a mobile bench

25%

Points come from a flat fold, no assembly, jaws or clamps in the box, a readable kilogram load, and reviews that still name flex or uneven clamps. A rolling bench with no jaws scores lower. A cart with no reviews scores lower still. This block is not a load test, and 900 kg was not verified.

4

Value in this set

10%

Shelf price against a readable listing and a real sample. Under £40, with 1,000 or more reviews and a vice layout, is the top of this block. The highest total score is not also given the value award.

Mobile workbench buying guide

Buy the hold, the place it will live, and the stated load by mode before the kilogram printed in the title. A folding vice, a folding clamp table and a rolling wooden bench are not one product. A 900 kg line, a 450 kg sawhorse line and a 120 kg line are not one league. If the listing has a lead, the plug has to be BS 1363. None of these benches was load-tested for this page.

What is a mobile workbench?

A mobile workbench is a bench you can fold and carry, or roll and park. It is not a fixed shed bench and it is not a desk. On amazon.co.uk this set splits into a folding vice bench, a folding clamp table, and a rolling wooden bench. The Workmate 301 and the Bosch PWB 600 are vice benches. The WORX Pegasus, the Pony 2-in-1 and the Metabo MWB 100 are clamp tables. The two LARBANKE models are 120 cm rubber-wood benches on wheels. The Griplier listing is a steel cart with an expandable top.

Best for

  • A flat or a small garage that must get the bench out of the way
  • Clamping doors and panels, if you can carry the weight of that table

Not ideal for

  • Cupboard storage if the bench is a 120 cm rolling top that does not fold
  • A paid job where nobody has checked that the frame stays stable

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Reading every kilogram as one league

Workmate states 160 kg. Bosch states 200 kg. Pony states 227 kg as a table and 454 kg as a sawhorse. Metabo UK states 120 kg. Both LARBANKE listings print 900 kg, and that figure was not measured here. The WORX amazon.co.uk load line is garbled. Do not line those numbers up as if one test produced them.

  2. 2

    Buying wheels for a cupboard

Locking castors suit a bench that stays built. A folded depth around 9–13 cm is the cupboard or boot problem. The 120 cm LARBANKE benches do not become slim. The Metabo folds thin and still stays about 1 m long at 22.1 kg.

  3. 3

    Trusting the socket photo

ETL on a listing is not a UK approval. On TS-1251O a reviewer describes UK sockets. On TS-1251O-1, UK reviews disagree. If the lead is not BS 1363, stop. Do not run a non-UK plug through a travel adaptor, and do not stand on the bench.

What to weigh up

Type of hold

High

The first decision is how the bench holds the work. Jaws suit short pieces. The BLACK+DECKER Workmate 301 uses swivel pegs and dual cranks, and a UK dealer lists an opening of 0–115 mm. The Bosch PWB 600 uses four blade clamps. A UK owner write-up puts the jaw gap at about 85 mm, and the bullets say the clamps grip round and awkward pieces. Bar clamps, dogs and a T-groove suit panels and odd shapes. The WORX Pegasus WX051 includes two quick clamps and four pegs.

Storage, height and stated load

High

Where the bench lives comes next. A folded depth around 9–13 cm suits a cupboard or a boot. The Bosch, the WORX and the Workmate sit in that band. WORX quotes a folded size of 79 x 63.5 x 13 cm. The Metabo folds to 88.5 mm thick but stays about 1 m long and weighs 22.1 kg. A 120 cm rolling bench never becomes slim, so wheels are for a bench you leave standing. Working height is not one figure. The Workmate brand page states 760 mm, and a reviewer at 6 ft 4 in found that too low.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

A flat or a small garage

You have to get the bench out of the way, and you want it ready to open. The Bosch PWB 600 is the top pick: four blade clamps, no assembly, about £151.57, and 4.7 from 5,322 reviews. Sideways flex and uneven clamp fit are the limits. Choose the WORX instead if you want bar clamps rather than jaws.

Our recommendation

View offer

A low budget, and you will build it

You want a folding vice and you will finish the build from a video when the sheet fails. The BLACK+DECKER Workmate 301 is best value at about £34.00, 6.6 kg, with 4.3 from 6,215 reviews and a stated 160 kg. Reviews still describe wobble, and a reviewer at 6 ft 4 in found it too low.

Leave it standing and roll it

You have space for a 120 cm bench that stays built. The LARBANKE TS-1251O is the rolling row where a reviewer of that ASIN describes UK sockets and USB-A. It is about £139.99, with five heights from 85 cm to 105 cm. Brace the legs, and do not treat 900 kg as a measured load. The other LARBANKE ASIN disputes the plug.

Common questions about mobile workbenches

Which mobile workbench is the top pick in 2026?
The top pick is the Bosch PWB 600 at about £151.57. It scores 87, the highest in this set. The listing says four blade clamps, a bamboo top, no assembly and a stated load of 200 kg. On amazon.co.uk it shows 4.7 from 5,322 reviews. Reviewers open it from the carton. Sideways flex keeps coming back, and one owner bolted a steel strip across the back frame. Clamps can sit too tight in some holes and too loose in others.
How much does a mobile workbench cost on amazon.co.uk?
The eight amazon.co.uk rows kept here run from about £34.00 to about £279.00. The Workmate 301 is about £34.00. The WORX Pegasus is about £131.99. Both LARBANKE benches are about £139.99, and they are not the same product. The Bosch PWB 600 is about £151.57 and the Pony 2-in-1 is about £159.99. The Metabo MWB 100 is about £174.95. The Griplier cart is about £279.00 and has no review text.
What should you check before you buy a mobile workbench?
Check the hold. Jaws suit short work. Bar clamps, dogs and a T-groove suit panels. A plain wooden top does not clamp a pipe. A folded depth around 9–13 cm suits a cupboard or a boot, and a 120 cm rolling bench never becomes slim. Read the load by mode. Do not treat 900 kg, 450 kg and 120 kg as one league. If there is a lead, it needs a BS 1363 plug. Do not stand on the bench.
Should you choose a folding bench or a rolling bench?
Choose a folding vice or clamp table when you must carry the bench and store it. The Bosch, the Workmate, the WORX, the Pony and the Metabo fold. Choose a rolling wooden bench when it can stay built. Both LARBANKE models are 120 cm, with a stated height of 85–105 cm and a 900 kg seller claim. They are not the same plug. On TS-1251O a reviewer describes UK sockets. On TS-1251O-1, UK reviews disagree.
Was the 900 kg load tested?
No. The 900 kg line is printed on both LARBANKE listings, and it was not measured for this page. Reviews of TS-1251O say the legs rack unless they are braced. One reviewer says it is not sturdy enough to use as a workbench. The WORX amazon.co.uk load line is garbled, so that row has no clean kilogram here. Metabo UK states 120 kg. Read each figure with its own model.
Does the socket strip use a UK plug?
Only the two LARBANKE listings include a strip, and they are not the same plug. ETL on the bullets is not a UK approval. On TS-1251O, a reviewer of that ASIN describes UK sockets and USB-A. On TS-1251O-1, one UK review says UK sockets and another says European sockets that did not match the pictures. If the lead is not BS 1363, stop. Do not run a non-UK plug through a travel adaptor.
When should you call a professional?
Call a professional if staff will use the bench and stability has not been checked. PUWER 1998 regulation 20 says an employer must stabilise work equipment by clamping or otherwise where necessary. A householder is outside that duty. A paid job is not. Also stop if the strip is cracked or not BS 1363, if you need a fixed machine bench, or if the frame arrives bent. Do not stand on the bench.
Is a folding trestle the same as a mobile workbench?
No. A folding trestle is a different comparison in this workshop hub. Use the folding trestle page when you want supports rather than a bench that clamps the work. It does not change the eight listings here. If the workpiece has to be held, stay with jaws on the Bosch or the Workmate, or with the bar clamps on the WORX, the Pony or the Metabo. A plain wooden top still does not clamp a pipe.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Bosch PWB 600 at about £151.57. It scores 87, the highest here: 4.7 from 5,322 reviews, four blade clamps, no assembly and a stated 200 kg. Sideways flex and uneven clamp fit are the limits. Best value is the BLACK+DECKER Workmate 301 at about £34.00. It takes the value mark, not the top score: 4.3 from 6,215 reviews and a 6.6 kg fold, if you will build it when the instruction sheet fails. The Pony scores 86 and stays behind the Bosch.
