Vornado fan comparison 2026: check UK plug and voltage

The best Vornado fans, compared.

Top pick: Vornado 533DC Best value: Honeywell TurboForce HT900E – About £35.32 with 240 V stated and 4.5 from 28,764 reviews. The plug face is not stated, so it sits just under the top pick. Updated October 2026.

Peter F.Editor

The maker describes a tight column of air, that you aim across a room so the air mixes, rather than a wide breeze only on the person in front of the grille. It does not turn a 120 V fan into a 230 V fan. The [UK voltage guide](/hub/portable-heaters/vornado-fan/sub/vornado-fan-uk-voltage) sets out why a pin swap is not enough. Once a listing states about 220–240 V and a sensible plug, judge the job: a desk, a whole room, or a night speed. Then look at tilt versus sweep, and at noise on the speed you will use. UK mains are nominally 230 V at 50. The plug on an in-scope appliance designed for at least 200 V is BS 1363. A new BS 1363 plug, or a step-down, is not a safe conversion. Ask a qualified electrician before any flex is cut. The personal metal fans here are listed at 110–120 V. UK reviews say it will not run on a British socket. Those stars are not a test on British voltage.

The best Vornado fans in detail

Vornado 533DC

Rank 1

Vornado 533DC

∼£125

Our view

The Vornado 533DC is a small table circulator with a brushless DC motor listed at 40 W and a noise claim of 32 dB. The bullet talks about variable speed and a 75-foot reach. The spec says two speeds and 75 cubic feet per hour, so the airflow line does not agree with itself. Across 605 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.7, the highest star figure in this comparison. The spec still says 120 V, a 2-pin polarised plug, and USA only, and there is no UK review tag. US texts call the low speeds quiet and the build solid. Those stars are not evidence it belongs on a British socket.

Pros

  • Variable speed is claimed, with a DC motor
  • US texts call low speeds quiet and the build solid
  • 32 dB and Energy Star are on the spec

Cons

  • 120 V and USA only
  • No UK review on the listing
  • Airflow units disagree: 75 feet versus 75 cubic feet per hour
  • Spec says 2 speeds while the bullet says variable

Best for: A 120 V desk where a small DC head and a low speed matter more than a sweep.

Less suitable: UK mains, or anyone treating 4.7 stars as a test on British voltage.

Common questions

Is the 533DC a UK fan?

The spec says 120.0 volts and a 2-pin polarised plug. The bullet says it meets US voltage requirements and is warranted for use only in the United States.

Does it have a remote?

A remote is not in the spec or the included components. The bullet describes a variable control on the front of the circulator. The spec also says 2 speeds.

Are the reviews from the UK?

The 42 review texts are labelled United States. The star line is 4.7 from 605 reviews. That total is not a UK-only count.

DREO Nomad One tower

Rank 2

DREO Nomad One tower

∼£80

Our view

The DREO Nomad One is the slim tower in this comparison, with a spec of 240 V, a remote, an 8-hour timer, and 90° oscillation. Across 47,486 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.6. UK reviews praise sleep use on the low speeds, a display that can go dark, and easy cleaning. The same reviews say the high speeds are loud. The connector is listed as EEC 7/7, not a BS 1363 plug, so 240 V does not mean a UK 13 A face in the box. The bullet says eight speeds and the spec says four. The airflow lines, 28 ft/s against 24 CFM, disagree in scale. It is a strong tower only if you accept that plug mismatch.

Pros

  • 240 V is stated
  • Remote, timer and a display that reviews say turns off
  • UK reviews praise low-speed sleep use and easy cleaning

Cons

  • EEC 7/7 connector, not a stated BS 1363 plug
  • High speeds are loud in UK reviews
  • Airflow figures use different units and disagree in scale
  • Speed count disagrees between bullet and spec

Best for: A slim 90° sweep on a stated 240 V supply, if you can accept an EEC 7/7 connector.

Less suitable: A buyer who needs a BS 1363 plug as listed, or a quiet night on the high speeds.

Common questions

Is the DREO tower listed at UK voltage?

The title says 220–240 V and the spec says 240 volts. The connector type is EEC 7/7, which is not a BS 1363 plug face.

How many speeds does it have?

The bullet says 8 speeds and 4 modes. The spec table says 4 speeds. UK reviews talk about speeds 1 to 8 and say the top speeds are loud.

Is it quiet enough for a bedroom?

UK reviews say speeds 1 and 2 are quiet enough to sleep, and that the display can go dark. They say speeds from about 6 upwards are irritating at night. The 20 dB title is not the noise at every speed.

DREO PolyFan DR-HPF002

Rank 3

DREO PolyFan DR-HPF002

∼£100

Our view

The DREO PolyFan DR-HPF002 is a pedestal with eight speeds, a remote, a timer, and a claimed 120° movement on both axes. The motor is listed as 24 W DC. UK reviews praise the stability and how quiet the low speeds are. Across 4,819 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.6. Those same reviews call the high speed loud, and they say the fan moves air rather than chilling it. The spec voltage is 120.0, with a 2-pin line, so the UK use notes do not turn it into a 230 V model. The bullet height and a 66 cm table figure also disagree. Treat the voltage line as written.

Pros

  • Remote, timer and dual-axis movement
  • UK reviews praise low-speed quietness and stability
  • 24 W DC motor listed

Cons

  • Spec voltage is 120.0
  • High speed is loud in UK reviews
  • It moves air; reviews say it does not chill the air
  • Bullet height and the 66 cm table do not match

Best for: A pedestal with a remote, in a room whose supply matches the printed 120.0 V spec.

Less suitable: A UK 230 V socket, or anyone reading UK reviews as proof the voltage line is wrong.

Common questions

What voltage is on the PolyFan spec?

The spec table says 120.0 and a 2-pin connector. UK reviews describe using the fan and do not mention a US plug. The voltage is not relabelled.

Does it oscillate in more than one direction?

The bullet says 120 degrees vertical and horizontal at the same time, with a remote and an 8 hour timer. UK reviews mention up, down, left and right.

Is the 20 dB title the noise on every speed?

The title says 20 dB and the spec says 23 dB. UK reviews say the low speeds are very quiet and the turbo speed is loud.

Vornado Model 80

Rank 4

Vornado Model 80

∼£218

Our view

The Vornado Model 80 is a large floor fan at 6.1 kg, with five speeds, a removable grille, and a listed 120 W, the highest wattage in this comparison. Across 723 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.6. US texts say the weight keeps it in place. A UK review calls the airflow strong in hot weather and also says an electrician would not convert the plug, because of the voltage. The spec says 120 V and USA only, and UK reviews describe a North American 2-prong plug. There is no timer on the spec, and a US review says it starts on maximum. Strong air on the wrong supply is still the wrong purchase at £218.07.

Pros

  • Five speeds and a removable grille
  • 6.1 kg, so US texts say it stays put
  • UK review calls the airflow strong in hot weather

Cons

  • 120 V and USA only
  • UK reviews say the plug is North American
  • 120 W is the highest wattage in this comparison
  • No timer on the spec; US review says it starts on maximum

Best for: A 120 V floor spot that wants five speeds and a heavy base that stays put.

Less suitable: A UK plug conversion, a timer, or a low-watt fan for a bedroom.

Common questions

Will the Model 80 plug into a UK socket?

The spec says 120.0 volts. UK reviews say it arrives with a North American two-prong plug. One buyer says an electrician told them it cannot be converted because of the voltage.

Does it have a timer?

The listing asks about a timer. The spec does not list one. Controls are touch, with five speeds.

How do you clean it?

The bullet says the grille comes off so you can wipe dust. Unplug it first. That is the listing claim, not a repair guide.

Honeywell TurboForce HT900E

Rank 5

Honeywell TurboForce HT900E

∼£35

Our view

The Honeywell TurboForce HT900E is a small fan listed at 240 V and 30 W, with three speeds and a claimed feel out to about 7 metres. It weighs 1.18 kg, the cable is 2 m, and the bullet also names a wall mount. Across 28,764 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.5, and UK reviews often praise the airflow for about £35. They also say the higher speeds are not quiet, and that the head tilts rather than sweeping the room. There is no remote or timer on the spec. The plug face is not stated, so a printed 240 V is not a confirmed BS 1363 plug. In this comparison it is the best value for a desk or a small floor spot, with that plug gap still open.

Pros

  • 240 V is stated
  • Light, 3 speeds, 2 m cable
  • UK reviews praise the airflow for the price

Cons

  • UK reviews: not quiet on higher speeds
  • No oscillation in practice, according to UK reviews
  • No remote or timer
  • Plug face is not stated

Best for: A desk or small floor spot when you want a stated 240 V fan tonight and can check the plug face on the unit.

Less suitable: A room that needs a side-to-side sweep, or a bedroom that needs a timer and a quiet high speed.

Does it oscillate?

The bullet says a 90 degree head. UK reviews say it tilts and does not sweep from side to side. There is no remote or timer in the spec.

Can it sit on a desk?

The bullet calls it a small floor or table fan and also names a wall mount. It weighs 1.18 kg.

Vornado VFAN Mini Modern

Rank 6

Vornado VFAN Mini Modern

∼£38

Our view

The VFAN Mini Modern is a metal desk circulator with two speeds, a tilt head, and a listed draw of 21 W, in a body about 15 cm deep. Across 10,832 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 4.5, and the praise is for the compact metal look. The spec says 110 V and a 2-pin polarised plug. UK reviews say the plug is American and the fan will not run on a British socket. One of those reviews describes a unit that died within minutes, and a replacement that arrived dead. One URL in the listing notes points at a different product, so this row follows ASIN B08226Z7MH. The metal finish does not change the supply.

Pros

  • Metal body and a tilt head are listed
  • Only 21 W on the spec
  • UK and US texts praise the compact look

Cons

  • Listed at 110 V with a 2-pin plug
  • UK reviews say it will not run in the UK
  • UK reviews include a unit that died within minutes and a dead replacement
  • The listing URL and the ASIN line disagree

Best for: A 110 V desk where that supply already exists, and you want a small metal head with two speeds.

Less suitable: A UK 230 V socket, or anyone who would need a pin adaptor to switch it on.

How many speeds does it have?

Two speeds, with a manual dial. A tilt head is listed. Oscillation is not listed.

Why does another Amazon URL appear for this row?

One URL in the listing notes points at a different product. The ASIN is B08226Z7MH, and this row follows that ASIN.

Vornado 160

Rank 7

Vornado 160

∼£50

Our view

The Vornado 160 is a personal circulator at 953 g, with two speeds, a swivel rod, and a listed 127 CFM. The spec says 26.8 W, 120 V, a two-prong polarised plug, and a USA-only line. Across 495 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.4. US texts describe years of desk use, while the 25-foot reach claim sits next to comments that the breeze fades after a few feet. One UK review reports a burning smell and then a dead unit. A pin adaptor would only change the plug shape, not the 120 V motor. Leave it if the socket in front of you is British.

Pros

  • Light personal size at 953 g
  • Two speeds and a swivel rod
  • US texts describe years of desk use

Cons

  • 120 V and a USA-only line
  • Two-prong plug
  • UK review: burning smell, then failed
  • Reach claimed as 25 feet, with US texts saying it fades after a few feet

Best for: A 120 V desk in the market the listing names, where a light two-speed head is enough.

Less suitable: UK mains, a whole room, or any unit that has already smelled of burning.

Common questions

Is the Vornado 160 listed for the UK?

The spec says 120.0 volts and a two-prong polarised plug. The bullet says it is built for US voltage and for use in the USA only.

Does it oscillate?

Oscillation is not listed. The bullet describes a chrome sliding rod and a swivel head so you can aim it.

What did the UK review say?

The one UK review says it smelled of burning after about five minutes and then would not run. The other review texts are from the United States.

MBSM ARD-08BB

Rank 8

MBSM ARD-08BB

∼£50

Our view

The MBSM ARD-08BB is a desk circulator listed at 220 V, with three speeds, a brushless motor, a 70° automatic sweep, and a 90° manual tilt. A remote and a 1–12 hour timer are on the spec, and the grille is claimed to come off. Across 236 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.4. UK reviews call it small and stable, and they also say the higher speeds are noisy. The tilt uses preset clicks rather than a free angle. One remote failed early. The plug face is not stated, so 220 V still needs a look at the pins in the box. It is a closer listing than the 120 V Vornados, and it is not a confirmed BS 1363 fan.

Pros

  • 220 V and a remote with a timer
  • Small and stable in UK reviews
  • Detachable grille is claimed

Cons

  • Plug face not stated
  • Higher speeds are noisy in UK reviews
  • Tilt uses preset clicks
  • One remote failed early

Best for: A small desk that wants a stated 220 V supply, a short sweep, and a timer.

Less suitable: A buyer who needs the plug face confirmed as BS 1363, or a quiet high speed.

Common questions

What mains voltage does the MBSM listing state?

220 volts. The plug face is not in the spec, so a BS 1363 plug is not confirmed.

Is it only a desk fan?

The form is a table fan about 30 cm high. The bullet claims coverage up to 161 square feet. One UK review says it can move air beyond the desk.

How noisy is it in UK reviews?

The spec says 25 dB. UK reviews say speed 1 is acceptable and speeds 2 and 3 are too noisy for working. One remote failed after a couple of weeks.

AirCraft Home Lume

Rank 9

AirCraft Home Lume

∼£149

Our view

The AirCraft Home Lume is the only row in this comparison that states a UK three-prong plug. The stem comes off so the head can sit on a desk, and the listing gives 12 speeds, a remote, a 12-hour timer, and movement on both axes. Across 203 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.4, and UK reviews support the low speeds for a quiet room. Several of those reviews call the remote cheap. The spec noise is 45 dB against an ultra-quiet title, and there is no airflow figure. The voltage line itself is not stated, so the plug is the UK fact on the page, not a printed 240 V. One review says it does not tilt down towards the floor. It is the top pick here because the plug face is the one the other rows leave blank or get wrong, though £149 is a lot if you only need a small desk breeze.

Pros

  • UK three-prong plug is stated
  • 12 speeds, timer, and movement in both axes
  • UK reviews support overnight use on low speeds

Cons

  • Remote feels cheap in several UK reviews
  • Spec noise is 45 dB against an ultra-quiet title
  • No airflow figure
  • One review: it does not tilt down towards the floor

Best for: A UK room where you need a stated three-prong plug, a remote, and the choice of pedestal or desk.

Less suitable: A tight budget, a downward tilt onto the floor, or anyone who needs a printed voltage figure.

Common questions

Does the Lume listing include a UK plug?

The spec says a standard UK three-prong plug. A separate voltage number is not in the table.

Can it be a desk fan?

The bullet says you remove the lower part of the stem. The full size in the table is 90 cm high and 4.1 kg.

What do UK reviews say about night use?

Sampled UK reviews say the lower speeds are very quiet and that up-and-down oscillation helps a higher bed. Several call the remote thin and easy to lose.

Vornado OMNIO 7

Rank 10

Vornado OMNIO 7

∼£85

Our view

The Vornado OMNIO 7 lists 10 speeds, a remote, a 12-hour timer, and multi-axis motion sold as OmniWave. Across 62 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.3. US texts call it quiet in a bedroom until the high speeds, and a removable grille and blade are claimed. The spec says 24 V DC, not 230 V, and the bullet says USA only. There is no UK review tag, no wattage, and no plug description. A low-voltage DC line is a different product from a fan you put on British mains. Pin shape will not close that gap.

Pros

  • 10 speeds, a remote and multi-axis motion
  • US texts call it quiet in a bedroom until high speed
  • Removable grille and blade claimed

Cons

  • 24 V DC, not 230 V
  • USA-only line
  • No UK reviews and no wattage
  • No plug described

Best for: A 24 V DC setup the listing was built for, if you want many speeds and multi-axis motion.

Less suitable: UK mains, or a buyer who has no UK reviews to read before paying £85.38.

Common questions

Is 24 V DC a UK mains rating?

No. The spec says 24 volts DC. The bullet says the product is built for US voltage and warranted only in the United States. Included parts are the fan and a guide, not a described UK lead.

What motion does it claim?

OmniWave multi-axis oscillation, 10 speeds, an RF remote and a 12 hour timer, plus sleep and breeze modes.

Are the reviews from the UK?

The texts are labelled United States. They call it quiet until near top speed. That is not UK opinion.

Vornado VFAN Mini Classic

Rank 11

Vornado VFAN Mini Classic

∼£52

Our view

The VFAN Mini Classic is a metal desk circulator with two speeds, a tilt head, and a listed 22 W. The size is the point: a small table unit, not a room mixer. Across 48 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.3. US texts like the look, and one says a previous unit lasted about three years, with monthly dust cleaning as the upkeep. The spec says 120 V and USA only, and there is no UK review tag. The plug face is not stated. Two speeds and a tilt, with no sweep, would be a simple desk fan if the voltage matched. On this listing it does not.

Pros

  • Metal body and a tilt head
  • 22 W and a compact size
  • US texts like the look and say a previous unit lasted about three years

Cons

  • 120 V and USA only
  • No UK reviews
  • Only two speeds
  • One US review: monthly dust cleaning

Best for: A 120 V metal desk fan with two speeds, where that supply is already in the room.

Less suitable: UK mains, a side-to-side sweep, or a decision that needs a large UK review sample.

Is it metal, and can it sit on a desk?

Material is metal. The bullet names a desk, nightstand and office. It weighs 1.34 kg and has two speeds plus a tilt head.

What do the reviews say?

The texts are from the United States. They praise the retro look. One says the low speed is still strong and that dust builds up and needs cleaning about monthly.

Vornado 6803 OSC

Rank 12

Vornado 6803 OSC

∼£139

Our view

The Vornado 6803 OSC is a standing circulator with four speeds, a remote, a height range, and a listed 90° sweep. Airflow is listed at 992 CFM, and the price is £138.56. Across 117 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.1. US texts praise the airflow. UK reviews say the plug is a US two-pin, the listing is 120 V, and they tell you not to buy it for Britain. One UK review says a step-down blew. Returns across borders are described as difficult. The oscillation is real on the spec and still does not fix the voltage.

Pros

  • Remote, four speeds, 90° oscillation and a height range
  • 992 CFM is the listed airflow
  • US texts praise the airflow

Cons

  • 120 V
  • UK reviews report a US two-pin plug
  • One UK review: a step-down blew
  • UK reviews describe a difficult international return

Best for: A 120 V room that wants a remote and a 90° sweep on a pedestal.

Less suitable: UK mains, a step-down experiment, or a buyer who needs a simple domestic return.

Common questions

Can the 6803 OSC be used in the UK as reviewed?

The spec says 120.0 volts. UK reviews say it arrived with a US two-pin plug and should not be bought for UK mains. One reviewer says a step-down transformer blew straight away.

What controls does the listing include?

Four speeds, touch or a remote, 90 degree oscillation, adjustable height from 29 to 39 inches, an auto mode and an aroma pad.

How loud is it?

No decibel figure is in the spec. The question is on the listing, but the table does not answer it.

How we compared

We compared 12 amazon.co.uk listings for this Vornado fan page, drawn from 42 products looked at for the same job. Prices, stars, and review counts are the UK listing lines. There was no lab test. Voltage, plug, and the point that a fan does not cool the air come from the public sources below. The five weights sum to 100.

1

Voltage and plug

30%

Prefer a stated 220–240 V supply and a BS 1363 plug. A listing at 110 V, 120 V, 24 V DC, or warranted for the USA only loses points. A travel adaptor does not change the motor.

2

The job

20%

A desk fan, a sweeping pedestal, and a slim tower are different tools. A fan moves air. It does not refrigerate the room and it does not add heat.

3

Oscillation or tilt

20%

Many of these bullets only tilt. A side-to-side sweep is a separate claim, and it only counts when the listing states it.

4

Noise at the speed you use

15%

UK reviews of the DREO models and the Honeywell say the high settings are loud. A low decibel title is not the noise on every speed.

5

Controls and price

15%

A timer, a remote, a stable base, and the amazon.co.uk shelf price matter after the supply is right. The bands here run from about £35 to about £220.

Vornado fan buying guide

Check the voltage and the plug on that listing before the finish. A stated 110 V, 120 V, or 24 V DC fan is the wrong supply for a British socket. Then match the job: desk, pedestal, or tower. A fan moves air. It does not lower the room temperature.

What to check before you buy a Vornado fan

A Vornado fan is an air circulator. The maker describes a tight column of air, called Vortex Action, that you aim across a room so the air mixes. It is not a wide breeze only for the person in front of the grille, and it is not a heater. UK mains are nominally 230 V at 50 Hz. The plug on an in-scope appliance designed for at least 200 V is BS 1363. A travel adaptor changes pin shape. It does not turn a 120 V motor into a 230 V motor. A new BS 1363 plug, or a step-down, is not a safe conversion.

Best for

  • A UK socket when the listing states a three-prong plug or a 220–240 V supply you can check
  • Moving air across a room, including warm air off a heater you already run

Not ideal for

  • A 110 V, 120 V, or 24 V DC listing on a British 230 V socket
  • Anyone who needs the fan to cool the air or to heat the room

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Missing 120 V

Several Vornado listings here are 110 V or 120 V, with a two-pin plug or a USA-only line. The OMNIO 7 spec says 24 V DC. The PolyFan spec says 120.0. Do not relabel that line as 230 V because UK reviews describe use.

  2. 2

    Fitting a UK plug or a step-down

A travel adaptor, a new BS 1363 plug, or a step-down does not make a 120 V motor safe on 230 V. One UK review of the 6803 OSC says a step-down blew. Ask an electrician before any flex is cut.

  3. 3

Reading the quiet title as every speed

UK reviews of the DREO models and the Honeywell say the high settings are loud. A 20 dB title is not the noise at the speed you will actually use. The Honeywell tilts. It does not sweep.

What to weigh up

Voltage and plug

High

UK mains are nominally 230 V, 50 Hz. BS 1363 is the 13 A plug. The Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994 require a standard plug on in-scope appliances designed for at least 200 V. Prefer a stated 220–240 V supply and a plug face you can see. Stop on 110 V, 120 V, 24 V DC, or a line that says the fan is warrantied for the USA only. The Lume states a UK three-prong plug and does not print a voltage number.

Job, sweep, and noise

High

A desk fan, a sweeping pedestal, and a slim tower are different tools. Many Vornado bullets only tilt. Sweep is a separate claim on the 6803 OSC, the OMNIO 7, the PolyFan, the DREO tower, the MBSM, and the Lume. Judge noise at the low and middle speeds you will actually use. UK reviews of the DREO models and the Honeywell say the high settings are loud. A fan does not refrigerate the room. NHS and GOV.UK say fans can help below 35 °C if you do not aim the airflow straight at your body.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

UK socket, stated plug

You want a circulator on a British socket and you will not guess the plug. AirCraft Home Lume at about £149 is the top pick because it is the only listing here that states a UK three-prong plug, with 12 speeds and movement on both axes. The voltage number itself is not printed.

240 V tonight, lower spend

You care more about a stated higher voltage than about the Vornado name. Honeywell TurboForce HT900E at about £35.32 is the best value, with 240 V and three speeds. The plug face is not stated, and UK reviews say it tilts rather than sweeping.

Move warm air, do not add heat

You already have heat and you want the air mixed, not more kilowatts. The DREO Nomad One tower states 240 V, a remote, and a 90° sweep at about £79.99. The connector is EEC 7/7, not a stated BS 1363 plug, and UK reviews say the high speeds are loud.

Common questions about Vornado fans

Which Vornado fan is the top pick in 2026?
AirCraft Home Lume at about £149 is the top pick. It is the only listing here that states a UK three-prong plug, with 12 speeds, a remote, a 12-hour timer, and movement on both axes. Across 203 amazon.co.uk reviews it scores 4.4. The voltage number is not printed, several UK reviews call the remote cheap, and the spec noise is 45 dB against an ultra-quiet title.
Which fan is the best value?
Honeywell TurboForce HT900E at about £35.32 is the best value. The spec says 240 V and 30 W, with three speeds, and it scores 4.5 from 28,764 amazon.co.uk reviews. UK reviews praise the airflow for the price and say the higher speeds are not quiet. The head tilts. It does not sweep. There is no remote or timer, and the plug face is not stated, so check the pins in the box.
Can a 120 V Vornado run on UK mains?
No. UK mains are nominally 230 V at 50 Hz. Listings here at 110 V, 120 V, or 24 V DC, or marked USA only, are the wrong supply. UK reviews on several of those Vornado rows say the fan will not run, or that it arrived with a US two-pin plug. A printed amazon.co.uk page does not make a 120 V fan safe on a British socket.
Will a travel adaptor or a new UK plug fix the voltage?
No. A travel adaptor changes the pin shape. It does not turn a 120 V fan into a 230 V fan. Fitting a BS 1363 plug, or a step-down, is not a safe conversion. Electrical Safety First says a travel adaptor is not the permanent connection. One UK review of the 6803 OSC says a step-down blew. On a 120 V fan the likely answer is not to convert it.
Does a Vornado fan cool the room?
No. It moves air. It does not lower the room temperature, and it does not add heat. NHS and GOV.UK say a fan can help in hot weather below 35 °C, and that you should not aim the airflow straight at your body. Energy Saving Trust puts a typical fan at about £0.14–£0.30 for 24 hours in Great Britain, against about £4.62–£5 for a portable air conditioner.
Do these fans oscillate?
Not all of them. Many Vornado bullets here only tilt, including the VFAN Mini models, the 160, and the 533DC. The Honeywell tilts, and UK reviews say it does not sweep. Sweep is listed on the 6803 OSC, the OMNIO 7, the DREO PolyFan, the DREO tower, the MBSM, and the AirCraft Lume. Read tilt and sweep as separate claims. A 90° head is not the same as a side-to-side sweep.
Is a Vornado fan a heater?
No. Every listing on this page is a fan. It can push warm air off a heater you already run. It does not add kilowatts of heat. If the room is cold and you need plug-in heat, use the fan heater comparison. Stop if you were about to buy a 120 V circulator to warm a British room. The voltage problem and the missing heat are two different reasons to leave it.
When should you unplug it or call an electrician?
Unplug on a burning smell, scorch marks, or a breaker that trips. Unplug before you remove a grille. The Vornado 160 has a UK review of a burning smell and then a dead unit. Ask a qualified electrician before any flex is cut. Use the retailer’s returns path if the voltage in the box is not the voltage you ordered. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 says goods must match the description.

Our verdict

Across these 12 amazon.co.uk listings, a Vornado name is not a UK plug. Several Vornado rows are 110 V, 120 V, or 24 V DC, and UK reviews say they will not run on British mains. The top pick is the AirCraft Home Lume at about £149, the only row that states a UK three-prong plug, with 12 speeds, a remote, and movement on both axes. The voltage number on that listing is not printed. The best value is the Honeywell TurboForce HT900E at about £35.32, with 240 V stated and 4.5 from 28,764 reviews. Its plug face is not stated, and UK reviews say the head tilts rather than sweeping. A fan mixes air. It does not cool the room and it does not replace a heater.
