A grill mat on amazon.co.uk is either a thin non-stick sheet on the grate or a larger pad under the barbecue on a deck, patio, or lawn. You buy the sheet so fish, vegetables, and marinades do not fall through the bars. You buy the pad to keep fat and embers off a patio. Cooking sheets here are mostly fibreglass, about 40 × 33 cm. Judge a sheet by a readable temperature line and by reviews that do not describe coating on the food. How to separate the two jobs, and which size to trust, is in the [grill mat buying guide](/hub/grill-accessories/grill-mat/sub/grill-mat-buying-guide). An under-grill pad is a larger fibreglass pad, often with a silicone or similar coating, for drips and radiant heat on a deck, patio, or lawn. A floor pad's stars do not make it a cooking surface. A 40 cm sheet does not protect a patio. Mesh sheets turn up in the UK search and are not in this batch. A silicone side-shelf tool mat is a different product and is not in the kept set.

A grill mat on amazon.co.uk is either a thin non-stick sheet on the grate or a larger pad under the barbecue on a deck, patio, or lawn. You buy the sheet so fish, vegetables, and marinades do not fall through the bars.

GQC sheets, about 40 × 30 cm

Rank 1

GQC sheets, about 40 × 30 cm

∼£11

Our view

GQC GQCSKD is £10.99. The title says six Teflon mats at 15.75 × 11.8 in, and the size field says 40 × 30 cm. Number of items says 1. A bullet claims 500°F and PFOA-free PTFE-coated fibreglass, while a field says PTFE-free. Dishwasher safe is yes. It shows 4.7 from 459 reviews. UK reviews like the cleaner grate and cutting to size. They also mention thinner sheets that fail, fat on the mat, blocked heat, and throwing sheets away when washing fails.

Pros

  • 4.7 from 459 reviews
  • Dishwasher field says yes
  • 500°F printed in a bullet
  • Reviews describe less grate scrubbing

Cons

  • Pack count conflicts
  • PTFE coating and a PTFE-free field
  • One review says they block a lot of heat
  • Some reviewers bin them instead of washing

Best for: You want 40 × 30 cm sheets for gas, charcoal, or electric and will check the pack count on arrival.

Less suitable: You need the listing to agree how many sheets are in the box.

Common questions

How many mats are in the pack?

The title says a set of 6. The number-of-items field says 1 and the unit count says 1.0. Both are in the listing.

Is the dishwasher mark yes?

Yes. The bullet also says dishwasher safe. Some UK reviews still bin sheets when they will not come clean.

What heat figure is printed?

A bullet says up to 500°F. The title says FDA approved. A material-free field says polytetrafluoroethylene free, which conflicts with the Teflon coating line. FDA approved is not a UK declaration.

QH7 sheet, 180 × 40 cm

Rank 2

QH7 sheet, 180 × 40 cm

Our view

QH7 model 0-1 is one 180 × 40 cm sheet at £8.79 and 240 g, in fibreglass and PTFE. Dishwasher safe is yes, and a bullet says up to 500°F. The form field says square. It shows 4.6 from 2,091 reviews. UK reviews describe cutting pieces for gas and charcoal grills and less grate cleaning, including a sear-then-sheet method. Other reviews call it stiff or paper thin, say it did not clean well, or threw it away after one use.

Pros

  • 180 × 40 cm at £8.79
  • 4.6 from 2,091 reviews
  • Dishwasher field says yes
  • Reviews confirm cutting to round grills

Cons

  • Several reviews say it is thin
  • One-cook failures in the sample

Less suitable: You want a thick mat that reviews describe as heavy.

Common questions

How big is the sheet?

Item dimensions say 180 × 40 cm and 240 g. The form field says square, which does not match that rectangle. Reviews say they cut it to the grill.

Is it marked dishwasher safe?

Yes. A bullet also says up to 500°F. The title says FDA approved, spelled Aproved. That is a US phrase, not a UK food-contact declaration.

Do reviews say it lasts?

Some UK reviews reuse it and praise a cleaner barbecue. Others call it thin, say food stuck, or binned it after one cook. A 500-use line is seller text.

Lukata 3-pack, 50 × 40 cm

Rank 3

Lukata 3-pack, 50 × 40 cm

∼£11

Our view

Lukata SH-PH20-36XT is three sheets at £10.85, listed at 50 × 40 cm and 220 g. The material field says fibreglass, the bullet says Teflon-coated and PFOA-free, and dishwasher safe is yes. It shows 4.6 from 2,080 reviews. UK reviews report less fat in the flame, easy washing, and trimming for a large gas barbecue or a round Cadac. Many of the same reviews are about oven floors. A fan oven can lift a liner slightly. No degree figure is in the captured bullets. It is the top pick here for a sheet larger than 40 × 33 cm, with the limit that the temperature ceiling is not printed.

Pros

  • 50 × 40 cm sheets at £10.85
  • 4.6 from 2,080 reviews
  • Dishwasher field says yes
  • PFOA-free bullet

Cons

  • No numeric heat limit
  • Review sample mixes oven liners and barbecue use
  • Fan oven can move a liner
  • Storage-band size label is vague

Best for: You want a larger-than-40 cm sheet for a gas barbecue and may also line an oven.

Less suitable: You need a printed Celsius limit before you buy.

GQC 6-pack, 40 × 33 cm

Rank 6

GQC 6-pack, 40 × 33 cm

Our view

GQC GQCBBQ01 is six sheets at £8.99. The title size is 15.75 × 13 in, the feedback size is 40 × 33 cm, and the item line is 40 × 32.5 cm at 300 g. Bullets say 0.2 mm PTFE-coated fibreglass up to 500°F. The material field says silicone and fabric. Dishwasher safe is yes. It shows 4.5 from 5,711 reviews, the largest count in this set. UK reviews report cleaner gas grills, sink or dishwasher washing, and use in ovens and air fryers. One review limits life to about four barbecues, and another says knife cuts ruin them. It is the best value when you want a cheap 6-pack and you can live with the material-field clash.

Pros

  • £8.99 for six sheets
  • 4.5 from 5,711 reviews
  • Dishwasher field says yes
  • 0.2 mm and 500°F in the bullets

Cons

  • Silicone/fabric field conflicts with the PTFE bullet
  • About four cooks in one review
  • Knife cuts end a sheet
  • Seller reuse line of 500 times is not a counted test

Best for: You want a cheap 6-pack of about 40 × 33 cm sheets for a gas or electric grill.

Less suitable: You need the material field and the bullets to name the same substance.

Alckijy floor pad, 100 × 150 cm

Rank 9

Alckijy floor pad, 100 × 150 cm

∼£13

Our view

VinBee floor pad, 122 × 76 cm

Rank 10

VinBee floor pad, 122 × 76 cm

∼£19

Our view

VinBee model 777 is £18.99. The title says a 122 × 76 cm double-sided pad for deck, patio, lawn, and fire pits. Feedback dimensions say 10 × 10 × 10 mm, and the material line is fibreglass cloth and polypropylene. It shows 3.9 from 63 reviews. UK reviews that like it mention drips, sparks, and decking. Pros

  • Some reviews report drip and spark protection
  • Double-sided coating claimed
  • 650 g, so heavier than a thin cooking sheet

  • No test reference for the fireproof wording

Best for: You want a pad under a barbecue on stone or deck and can live with mixed lawn reports.

  • 260°C printed in a bullet
  • Dishwasher field says yes
  • Bullet says five 40 × 33 cm liners

Cons

  • No rating and no reviews in the listing

How we compared

Scores compare the 11 amazon.co.uk grill mats kept in this set. Prices, stars, and review counts are the listing lines in the category files. There is no laboratory test. Each score starts from the amazon.co.uk star rating, mapped as the rating divided by 5 and then times 70. Review count adds up to 15 points, capped at 2,000 reviews. A small adjustment comes from the UK review sample: a cleaner grate raises it, and coating on the food, tears, or scorched grass lower it. A listing with no review line scores 0. The weights below sum to 100. They describe this set only.

1

Star rating

70%

The amazon.co.uk star line mapped out of 70: the rating divided by 5, then times 70. A 4.6 contributes more than a 3.9. This is the listing score, not a lab test.

2

Review count

15%

Up to 15 points from the amazon.co.uk review count, capped at 2,000 reviews. A line with no reviews contributes nothing, so it cannot lead the table.

A small adjustment from the UK review sample. Cleaner grates and easy washing raise it. Coating transfer, tears, holes, and scorched grass lower it. Floor-pad heat bullets are not treated as a test.

Grill mat buying guide

Choose the job before the size. A sheet on the grate and a pad under the barbecue are different products, and a fireproof word on a floor pad is still seller text. Prices below are the amazon.co.uk shelf figures in these category files.

What to check on a grill mat

A grill mat on amazon.co.uk is one of two products. A cooking sheet is a thin non-stick layer on the bars, mostly PTFE-coated fibreglass, so fish, vegetables, halloumi, and marinades do not fall through. An under-grill pad is a larger fibreglass pad, often with a silicone or similar coating, for drips and radiant heat on a deck, patio, or lawn. Do not mix them. A floor pad's stars do not make it a cooking surface. A 40 cm sheet does not protect a patio.

Best for

  • A gas-barbecue owner who wants less grate scrubbing and will accept less char
  • A patio or deck owner who wants drips off boards and will not treat the pad as a cooking sheet

Not ideal for

  • Bare-grate char on steaks, or a sheet laid on flaming charcoal
  • A promise that artificial grass under a fire pit will stay green

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Buying a floor pad to cook on

A 100 cm pad and a 40 cm sheet do different jobs. A floor pad's star rating does not make it a cooking surface, and a small sheet does not protect a patio.

  2. 2

    Trusting 2000°F copy

Floor-pad bullets of 1800°F or 2000°F are seller text in these files, not a UK test. VinBee reviews still report melted mats and burnt grass.

  3. 3

    Covering a flaming charcoal grate

Gas grates are the usual fit. Charcoal is only after the flames die down. If a PTFE sheet smokes, stop. A 500-cook bullet is not a counted life test.

What to weigh up

Job, fuel, and placement

High

Food on the grate, or protection under the barbecue. Do not mix them. Gas grates are the usual fit for a cooking sheet. Charcoal only after the flames die down, and never in the flame. Floor pads are for drips and radiant heat, not for a bowl sitting on turf with no gap. A solid sheet keeps the grate cleaner and blocks some smoke and char. Fat can pool. Mesh sheets are not in this batch.

Size, heat claim, and dishwasher mark

High

Use the size you can prove from that listing: about 40 × 33 cm for a section of grate, 41.3 × 58.4 cm on Linda's Essentials, 50 × 40 cm on Lukata, 180 × 40 cm on QH7. Floor pads run from about 75 × 120 cm to 100 × 150 cm. PTFE seller lines cluster at 260°C. Ankier prints both 260°C and 380°F. Dishwasher is yes on Cookey, Lukata, both GQC listings, QH7, and Hongmeru, and no on Ankier. Reviews still describe stained sheets. FDA approved is not a UK food-contact declaration.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Gas grate, less scrubbing

You cook on gas and you are tired of scrubbing the bars, and you will accept less char. Lukata is three sheets at about £10.85, listed at 50 × 40 cm, with 4.6 from 2,080 reviews and dishwasher marked yes. The captured bullets do not print a Celsius limit, and many reviews are about oven floors as well as barbecues.

Fish, halloumi, and eggs

You cook food that falls through the bars. Cookey is five 40 × 33 cm sheets at about £7.99, with 4.5 from 1,771 reviews. UK reviews name fish, halloumi, and eggs, on gas, charcoal, and a contact grill. The material field says PTFE and a second field says PTFE-free. There is no numeric heat limit.

Patio and deck drips

You want fat and embers off porcelain or boards, and you should not expect a thin pad to save artificial grass under a fire pit. FIREWESS is about £17.99, with 4.4 from 1,327 reviews. UK reviews cite patio, porcelain, and decking. The title size and a 24 × 42 in bullet conflict, and 2000°F is seller text.

Common questions about grill mats

Which grill mat is the top pick in this set?
The top pick in this set is the Lukata 3-pack, about £10.85, listed at 50 × 40 cm, with 4.6 from 2,080 amazon.co.uk reviews. Dishwasher safe is marked yes, and a bullet says Teflon-coated and PFOA-free. The captured bullets do not print a degree limit. UK reviews report less fat in the flame and easy washing, and many of the same reviews are about oven floors. It suits a gas barbecue if you can accept that missing Celsius line.
Which listing is the best value?
The best value is the GQC 6-pack at about £8.99, with 4.5 from 5,711 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest count here. Bullets say 0.2 mm PTFE-coated fibreglass up to 500°F, and dishwasher safe is yes. The material field says silicone and fabric, which does not match the bullets. One review limits life to about four barbecues, and another says knife cuts ruin a sheet. Hongmeru is about £4.99, and the listing has no reviews.
How much does a grill mat cost on amazon.co.uk?
On the amazon.co.uk shelf figures in these files, the 11 listings run from about £4.99 to £18.99. Multi-packs of small sheets sit under about £12. Linda's Essentials, Lukata, Ankier, and the Alckijy pad sit from about £9.99 to £12.85. FIREWESS and VinBee are about £17.99 and £18.99. As a rule of thumb from these listings only, the named floor pads sit nearer £13 to £19.
Should you buy a cooking sheet or a floor pad?
Buy a cooking sheet if food falls through the bars. Buy a floor pad if you want drips and embers off a patio or deck. Do not use a floor pad as a cooking surface, and do not expect a 40 cm sheet to protect a patio. Cooking sheets here are mostly PTFE-coated fibreglass. Floor pads are fibreglass with a silicone or similar coating. Reviews document patio splashes more clearly than lawns under fire pits. A fireproof bullet is seller text, not a UK test in these files.
Does FDA approved mean the sheet meets UK food-contact law?
No. FDA approved is a US phrase on some of these titles. UK food-contact rules are assimilated Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. Article 3 says a food-contact material must not transfer anything that endangers health or spoils food in normal use. SI 2012/2619 enforces parts of that regulation in England. PFOA-free is not the same as BPA-free. A marketplace FDA line is not a UK declaration. A food business needs a real food-contact check, not that line.
What temperature should you treat as the ceiling?
PTFE seller lines in this set cluster at 260°C, which is 500°F. Bake-O-Glide states 260°C for its PTFE-glass liners and warns that flame and about 300°C can make fumes linked to flu-like symptoms. Ankier prints both −70°C to 260°C and up to 380°F, about 193°C, so those ceilings do not match. If a sheet smokes, stop, and get medical advice if you feel unwell. Do not put a sheet in the flame.
Are these mats dishwasher safe?
Only if that ASIN's field says yes. Cookey, Lukata, both GQC listings, QH7, and Hongmeru are marked yes. Ankier's field says no, even though a bullet mentions a dishwasher, and one UK review says they do not stand up well to dishwashers. Linda's Essentials has a bullet, not a yes or no field. Reviews still describe stained sheets, and some buyers bin a sheet when washing fails. The floor pads in this set do not state a dishwasher line.
Will an under-grill pad stop grass scorching?
Not on the evidence here. Bullets of 1800°F or 2000°F are seller text, not a UK test in these files. VinBee UK reviews report melted mats and burnt grass, and one Alckijy review says grass under a hot fire pit still burned. Floordirekt's Turin listing says fire class Bfl-S1 and at least 40 cm from the flame. If you want char on the meat, clean bare bars with a grill brush instead of covering them.

Our verdict

In this set the top pick is the Lukata 3-pack: about £10.85, listed at 50 × 40 cm, 4.6 from 2,080 reviews, dishwasher marked yes, and the highest score here. The captured bullets do not print a Celsius limit, and many reviews cover oven liners as well as barbecues. The best value is the GQC 6-pack at about £8.99, 4.5 from 5,711 reviews, with a 500°F bullet and dishwasher marked yes. The material field says silicone and fabric while the bullets say PTFE-coated fibreglass. A floor pad is a different product. None of these rows is a lab test.
