Top pick: Karrma Ltd. 30 cm bamboo skewers Best value: ANECO 25 cm bamboo skewers – Lowest price in the set at about £2.40 for 100, with a stated 2.5 mm thickness and a 30-minute hot-water soak. One report of burning ends. Updated October 2026.
Wooden skewers on amazon.co.uk are almost always bamboo sticks in packs of about 50 to 200, for barbecued kebabs, the grill or oven, fruit, buffet picks and sometimes crafts. Length, round or paddle shape, and whether reviewers mention splits separate a useful pack from a frustrating one. In the 15 extracts, about 25 to 30 cm is the kebab length and about 12 to 15 cm is the paddle length for burgers and canapés. Soak before direct heat: Food says 30 minutes in cold water, and seller bullets here say 10, 20 to 30, or 30 minutes. A food-safe line is a claim, not a test. Plain bamboo is not the plastic-and-bamboo tableware the Food Standards Agency told sellers to withdraw.
Length, shape, thickness and count are set out in the [wooden skewers buying guide](/hub/diy-supplies/wooden-skewers/sub/wooden-skewers-buying-guide).
A wooden skewer here is a pointed bamboo stick for threading food. Those rows still say bamboo in the bullets, so this page treats the mismatch as a listing conflict, not as a second material. None of the pages publishes a composition test. A food-grade or splinter-free bullet is a claim.
Round sticks of about 25 to 30.5 cm usually come as 100 or 150.

At 30 cm, the Karrma skewers provide enough handle length for barbecue food, fruit and marshmallows without bringing your fingers as close to the heat as a short paddle does. The four available review texts include praise for the length and price, with one buyer recommending soaking before barbecue use. The pointed tips and about £3.75 for the stated 100-pack make the basic proposition straightforward. Confidence is limited, because the 4.9-star rating comes from only 15 ratings and the reviewed text sample is too small to establish a durability pattern. The listing also contradicts itself: the title and pieces field say 100, while one bullet mentions both 100 and 300. These are plausible full-length sticks, but the pack claim should be checked on the live listing before you buy. The manufacturer cell prints UKNOWN.
Pros
30 cm length for barbecue food and marshmallows
Pointed tips
Early comments praise length and value
About £3.75
Cons
Only 15 Amazon ratings and four review texts
Conflicting 100-stick and 300-stick claims
No soak instruction in the listing
Best for: Full-length barbecue skewers, fruit, marshmallows and occasional craft use.
Less suitable: Bulk buyers who need a verified pack count or a large review sample.
At 15 cm, the Guagua flat paddles give you a controlled grip for burgers, small kebabs, prawns, canapés and compact air-fryer portions. Across 27 review texts, buyers repeatedly describe the sticks as smooth and splinter-free, and one measured the food section at roughly 3 mm by 4 mm while finding it flexible without breaking. The 100-pack is more generous than the other 15 cm option, and the sharp point helps with threading small ingredients. The shorter length is also the main limit: several reviews frame it as unsuitable for a full grill kebab, and a few buyers wanted a larger or broader stick. The listing does not provide soak guidance or state air-fryer compatibility, despite one positive air-fryer review. This is the strongest compact paddle option here if you want portion-sized skewers rather than a full-length kebab stick.
Pros
100 flat paddles with an easy-to-hold top
Repeated smooth and splinter-free review feedback
Sharp point for small ingredients
Fits compact portions, including one reported air-fryer use
Cons
Too short for full-size grill kebabs
No soak guidance
Air-fryer use is not stated by the listing
About £5.59
Best for: Burgers, canapés, prawns, small kebabs, buffet food and compact appliance portions.
Less suitable: Large barbecue kebabs, or buyers who want a broad ridged handle.
At 12 cm, the Admygo paddles hold burgers, appetisers and buffet snacks together without leaving a long stick protruding from the food. Early reviewers find the flat grip easy to use, and individual reports describe the bamboo as smooth, sturdy and free from rough patches or splintering. The 100-pack is also used for non-food jobs such as mixing small amounts of resin. The evidence is still preliminary, with 4.7 stars from 14 ratings and only five review texts available. One reviewer criticises the packaging, while the listing gives neither a soak time nor a separate item-length specification. It is a compact party-food pick. Guagua has a broader review base at a similar size, at 15 cm rather than 12 cm.
Pros
Compact 12 cm paddle for burgers and snacks
100-stick pack
Early reports of a smooth, sturdy finish
Flat grip is easy to handle
Cons
Only 14 ratings and five review texts
One packaging complaint
No soak guidance
No separate item-length field
Best for: Burgers, cocktail snacks, appetisers, buffet food and small mixing tasks.
Less suitable: Full-size kebabs, or buyers who want a large review sample.
At 18 cm, the Oavie sticks sit between cocktail picks and long barbecue skewers, giving enough handle for appetisers and smaller chicken or beef portions. The stated 200-pack is the largest in this comparison, and the 45-degree tip is meant to pierce food cleanly. Both reviewers in the texts assessed found practical uses for the length, including cold platters and barbecue cooking after soaking, with no fault reported. That evidence is extremely limited, because the 4.7-star line is based on only four ratings and just two review texts were available. The listing itself gives no soak guidance, and about £6.99 is the highest price here despite the pack count. The unit count cell says 1.0 while the pieces field says 200. Consider it for volume and a medium length, not if you want a well-established review record. The bullets do not call it a paddle.
Pros
Largest stated pack, 200 sticks
18 cm middle length
45-degree tip
No complaint in the two review texts assessed
Cons
Only four Amazon ratings and two review texts
Highest price in the comparison, about £6.99
No soak guidance in the listing
Unit count field conflicts with the 200-piece claim
Best for: High-volume appetisers, cold platters and smaller meat or vegetable portions.
Less suitable: Buyers who need a large review sample or a low upfront price.
At 30 to 30.5 cm, the Chef Aid skewers give you enough working length for meat-and-vegetable kebabs and cooking under an oven grill. The 100-stick pack has the strongest evidence base here, with 4.6 stars from 4,590 amazon.co.uk ratings, and reviewers regularly find the points sharp enough for peppers, onions, steak and fruit. Several buyers also report that the sticks resist splintering and breaking, while the slightly asymmetric shape described in one review can help stop food turning. They are not uniformly robust: a minority call them thin, and reports include snapping, splitting and bending once loaded in an air fryer. The listing does not state a soak time, so anyone cooking over direct heat needs to decide that separately. This is the top pick for a conventional full-length skewer, and it is less convincing for heavy loads or compact appliances.
Pros
30 to 30.5 cm suits full-size kebabs
Sharp enough for meat, peppers, onions and fruit in reviews
Largest evidence base, 4,590 Amazon ratings
About £3.10 for 100 sticks
Cons
Some reports of thin sticks, snapping or splitting
No soak guidance in the listing
Can be too long, or bend when cut down, for some air fryers
Best for: Full-length meat and vegetable kebabs, oven-grill cooking and general kitchen or craft use.
Less suitable: Heavy food loads, small air fryers and buyers who want a soak time in the listing.
At 250 mm, the 1ABOVE skewers are a medium-to-long format for chicken, mixed meat and vegetables, sweet kebabs and chocolate fountains. The pack contains 150 sticks, and the listing tells you to soak them for 10 minutes before use. Some reviewers find them suitably thick and sturdy, including for chicken skewers and corndogs, while others use them for crafts and seedlings. That picture is inconsistent. Several buyers describe the sticks as thin or flimsy, and reports include bent, splintered, blunt or missing points. One counted seven fewer than the stated 150, and one corndog user needed two sticks for support. They offer reach and quantity for about £3.86. Heavier food may expose the variation in strength. A 10-minute soak is shorter than the 30 minutes BBC Good Food gives for direct heat.
Pros
150 sticks at 250 mm for about £3.86
Clear 10-minute soak guidance
Semi-pointed tip and a chamfered end
Used for barbecue, sweet food and crafts
Cons
Several reports of thin or flimsy sticks
Bent, splintered or blunt examples reported
A short count was reported
May need two sticks for heavier food
Best for: Chicken and vegetable skewers, sweet kebabs, marshmallows, chocolate fountains and crafts.
Less suitable: Heavy corndogs or other loads that need a consistently thick support.
At 30 cm, the G4GADGET pack gives you 150 full-length sticks for barbecue meat, vegetables, fruit displays and a chocolate fountain. Reviewers repeatedly like the length, sharp points and value, and some also use the sticks for crafts or garden jobs. The pack covers more servings than most 100-stick options, at about £3.99. Durability is the trade-off. The Amazon reviews repeatedly mention sticks arriving split, snapping when overloaded, and leaving splinters or a shard in food. The listing gives no soak instruction, although one reviewer recommends soaking before cooking. It suits lighter, well-spaced ingredients better than dense or heavy kebabs.
Pros
150 sticks for about £3.99
30 cm length suits barbecue meat and vegetables
Sharp points praised for fruit and other food
Used for food, craft and garden jobs
Cons
Repeated reports of splits and loose splinters
Can snap when overloaded
No soak guidance in the listing
Best for: Large batches of light-to-medium kebabs, fruit displays, fondue and craft use.
Less suitable: Heavy loaded kebabs, or serving where a split stick would spoil the plate.
At 25 cm and 2.5 mm thick, the ANECO sticks are a manageable middle length for kebabs, fruit and party food, without the reach of a 30 cm barbecue skewer. The listing gives unusually clear preparation advice: soak them in hot water for 30 minutes before use. Review feedback is brief but generally supports the stated quality and value, and there is no repeated split or snap complaint in the 13 texts assessed. One buyer nevertheless reports that the ends caught fire, so soaking does not remove the need to keep exposed bamboo away from direct flame. About £2.40 for 100 is the lowest price in this comparison and is why it is the best value. Choose it for straightforward, inexpensive batches. Look elsewhere if you need a larger evidence base on durability under a heavy load.
Pros
Lowest price in the comparison, about £2.40 for 100
Clear 30-minute hot-water soak instruction
Stated 2.5 mm thickness and a 45-degree tip
No repeated split or snap complaint in the review texts assessed
Cons
One report of the ends catching fire
Only 13 review texts gave practical detail
Shorter than the 30 cm options for a large grill
Best for: Budget kebabs, fruit, cheese, party food and medium-length skewering jobs.
Less suitable: Large barbecue loads, or buyers who want a long review record.
At 15 cm, the Navoys paddles fit compact servings such as fruit, chicken pieces, appetisers and buffet portions more naturally than a full barbecue kebab. Reviewers commonly like the size, and several call the sticks sturdy and free from splinters. The listing explicitly names air fryers and ovens and tells you to soak the bamboo for 20 to 30 minutes, which is clearer use guidance than most products here. The 50-stick pack is comparatively small at about £3.75, and one buyer says an advertised quantity of 150 resulted in 50 being received. Finish is not completely consistent either, as one review reports extensive splintering despite contrary positive feedback. Choose these for short, handled portions, not for maximum quantity or a long grill span. Only this listing in the set names an air fryer.
Pros
15 cm paddle shape suits compact portions
Explicitly listed for air fryers and ovens
Clear 20 to 30 minute soak guidance
Several reviewers report sturdy, splinter-free sticks
Cons
Only 50 sticks for about £3.75
A review reports a 150-versus-50 quantity mix-up
One serious splinter complaint
Too short for full-size grill kebabs
Best for: Air-fryer portions, appetisers, fruit, buffet food and short chicken skewers.
Less suitable: Full-length barbecue kebabs, or buyers who want the lowest cost per stick.
At 30 cm and a stated 2.5 mm thickness, these D.A.Y. Republic sticks can handle halloumi, vegetables, candy floss and some oven use when the individual stick is sound. Reviewers report smooth examples and useful reach, and about £3.45 is a low price for the claimed quantity. The listing conflicts with itself. The title says 120 sticks while the pieces field says 150, and the highlighted paddle grip does not match reviews describing round sticks. Practical complaints recur around thin sections that bend, split or snap while food is threaded. Several reviewers also counted fewer than 150 sticks, including totals of 140, 141 and 146. The weight cell is 80 g. The first 50 review texts also appear on the other D.A.Y. Republic entry, so those ratings should not be added again. This is a low-cost long skewer with an uncertain count.
Pros
30 cm reach for kebabs and oven use
About £3.45
Some reviewers found the sticks smooth and sturdy enough
Used for food, candy floss and crafts
Cons
Conflicting 120-stick and 150-stick claims
Repeated bending, splitting and snapping reports
Several reported short counts
Shape description does not match the reviews
Best for: Low-cost long sticks for light kebabs, candy floss, cake toppers and crafts.
Less suitable: Heavy barbecue food, or buyers who need a dependable count and consistent thickness.
At a stated 30 cm and 2.5 mm, this D.A.Y. Republic entry looks suited to long kebabs, cake toppers and cocktail or craft work. About £3.68 would be a low price if the product identity and pack details were dependable. They are not. The product page URL points to B0HC6WKN5T while the ASIN field prints B0B4KSKZ61, and the title says 120 sticks while the pieces field says 150. The weight cell is 160 g, against 80 g on the other D.A.Y. Republic listing. Its first 50 review texts also duplicate the B08BXY1MBJ review pool, so they cannot provide independent evidence for this entry. Do not add these 675 ratings to that listing. The shared pool includes praise for some smooth sticks and also recurring thinness, splits, snapping and short counts. Because the identity and the evidence are mismatched, this product sits below otherwise similar 30 cm packs.
Pros
30 cm stated length
About £3.68
Stated 2.5 mm thickness
Named for kebabs, cake toppers and crafts
Cons
ASIN and Amazon page URL do not match
Review pool duplicates another listing
Conflicting 120-stick and 150-stick claims
Shared reviews include splits, snapping and short counts
Best for: Buyers prepared to check the live Amazon identity, count and specifications before ordering.
Less suitable: Anyone who needs an independent review set or a listing whose fields agree.
The product page URL is amazon.co.uk/dp/B0HC6WKN5T. The ASIN cell prints B0B4KSKZ61.
Is this a separate review set from B08BXY1MBJ?
No. The first 50 review texts match that file, including the same reviewers and dates. The rating line is also 4.4 from 675 reviews. Do not add the two counts together.
What count does this D.A.Y. Republic listing give?
The title says 120 skewers at 30 cm. The pieces field says 150. The weight cell says 160 g.
At 12 cm, the Lafefe paddles are sized for finger food, fruit, sliders, cheese and pineapple, and cocktail snacks, rather than conventional kebabs. Several reviewers like the flat handle, smooth finish and sturdy feel, and the supplied case offers more organised storage than loose packaging. The 100-pack can hold roughly three or four small items per stick according to one review. The product photographs may overstate the usable size. Shortness is a recurring criticism, and buyers warn that it is not long enough for a full kebab. One verified reviewer counted three fewer than 100, while a minority also mention an inconsistent finish or packaging. At about £5.74 with a 4.0-star rating from 39 reviews, it is a party-food shape rather than a strong all-round price. The material field says wood and the bullets say bamboo.
Pros
Flat paddle handle suits finger food
100 sticks supplied in a case
Praised for fruit, sliders and cocktail snacks
Several reports of a sturdy, smooth finish
Cons
12 cm is too short for a full kebab
One reported short count
Some finish and packaging complaints
About £5.74 with a 4.0-star rating
Best for: Fruit, charcuterie, sliders, cheese and pineapple, and cocktail presentation.
Less suitable: Full barbecue kebabs, or buyers expecting the scale shown in larger-looking photos.
The bullet says the flat wide handle helps flipping and stops food spinning.
How long are the Lafefe skewers?
The title and the length cell say 12 cm.
Does the Lafefe listing include a case?
Yes. A bullet says the skewers are packaged in a case. The pieces field says 100.
How we compared
Twelve amazon.co.uk wooden-skewer listings are on this page. The order follows the editorial scores: the strongest review record on a full-length pack first, then the lowest price with a stated thickness and soak line, then the rest by score. The weights below are the scoring split in the method note and sum to 100. Stars, review counts, lengths, soak lines and GBP prices were read from those listings and from the public UK sources below. There was no laboratory cook. A 4.9 from 15 ratings does not outrank a 4.6 from 4,590.
1
Amazon evidence
30%
Star rating, review count and confidence in the UK review sample on that listing. A large count outweighs a high star line from a handful of ratings. A duplicated review pool is not counted twice.
2
Practical review sentiment
30%
Repeated reports about strength, finish, splintering, loading food and handling. Splits, snaps and short counts are deductions. A single fire report is kept, and it is not treated as a pattern unless it repeats.
3
Product fit
20%
Useful length and shape, clear dimensions, a soak line and a match to the stated uses. About 25 to 30 cm is the kebab length. About 12 to 15 cm is the paddle length. A silent soak line is a gap, not a pass.
4
Value
20%
The 15 October 2026 GBP shelf price against pack count and the practical complaints. The range in this set is about £2.40 to about £6.99. A low price does not repair a conflicting count.

Wooden skewers buying guide
Length decides the job before price does. A stick of about 25 to 30 cm is for meat and vegetables on a grate. A paddle of about 12 to 15 cm is for burgers, fruit and canapés. Thickness, when the listing states it, and the pack count are the next checks, because several pages disagree with their own titles. A soak time on a bullet limits burning. It is not a hygiene step.
What is a wooden skewer?
A wooden skewer here is a pointed bamboo stick for threading food. On these amazon.co.uk pages the bullets say bamboo. Several material fields say wood.
That group is G4GADGET, Chef Aid, both D.A.Y.
Best for
Home cooks who want a 25 to 30 cm stick for meat and vegetables
Hosts who want 12 to 15 cm paddles for sliders, fruit and buffet food
Crafters who use the same packs for plants and models, which is not a food test
Not ideal for
A full grill kebab if the only sticks you have are 12 cm paddles
Anyone who needs a laboratory strength test or a published composition test
Counting the D.A.Y. Republic reviews twice
Mistakes to avoid
1
Buying 12 cm paddles for a full grill kebab
Lafefe and Admygo are 12 cm. Reviews on those packs say they are too short for a full kebab. A 25 to 30 cm stick is the length that leaves a handle past the grate.
2
Trusting the title when the pieces field differs
Both D.A.Y. Republic titles say 120 and the pieces fields say 150. One Karrma bullet says 100 and 300. Buy for one sitting plus spare sticks, and check the live count before you rely on it.
3
Calling the meat done because the stick has charred
A 10-minute soak on a long cook still leaves bare ends that can char. Char is not doneness. Food Standards Scotland cites 75°C in the thickest part, because the stick can carry surface bacteria into the middle.
What to weigh up
Length and shape
High
Length is the first decision. About 25 to 30 cm leaves a handle past the grate for meat and vegetables. About 12 to 18 cm suits platters, sliders and baskets that will not take a 30 cm stick. Chef Aid is about 30 to 30.5 cm. ANECO and 1ABOVE are 25 cm. G4GADGET, both D.A.Y. Republic listings and Karrma are 30 cm. Oavie is 18 cm. Navoys and Guagua are 15 cm paddles. Lafefe and Admygo are 12 cm paddles.
Shape is the second decision. Round sticks thread more food along the length.
Count, soak and price
High
Pack count only helps if the title and the pieces field agree. Chef Aid, ANECO, G4GADGET, 1ABOVE, Guagua, Admygo and Lafefe agree in the fields used here. Both D.A.Y. Republic titles say 120 and the pieces fields say 150. One Karrma bullet says 100 and 300 while the title says 100. Oavie’s pieces field says 200 and the unit count cell says 1. Buy for one sitting plus spare sticks for splits.
A sharp or 45-degree tip matters for meat. ANECO and Oavie state a 45-degree tip.
Which option suits you?
Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.
🍖
Meat and vegetables on a grate
You want about 25 to 30 cm so a handle stays past the grate. Chef Aid is 100 sticks at about 30 to 30.5 cm and about £3.10, with 4.6 from 4,590 reviews. A minority report thin sticks, snapping or splitting, and the listing does not state a soak time.
You want a 12 to 15 cm paddle, not a 30 cm kebab stick. Guagua is 100 flat paddles at 15 cm and about £5.59, with 4.7 from 76 reviews. Reviewers often call them smooth. They are too short for a full grill kebab, and the listing states no soak time.
You want the lowest shelf price in this set and a soak line you can follow. ANECO is 100 sticks at 25 cm and about £2.40, with a stated 2.5 mm thickness and a 30-minute hot-water soak. The review sample is 4.5 from 373, and one buyer reported burning ends.
Which wooden skewers are the top pick for a full kebab?
The top pick for a full kebab is the Chef Aid pack of 100 bamboo sticks at about 30 to 30.5 cm, about £3.10. The amazon.co.uk listing is 4.6 from 4,590 reviews, the largest count in this set. Reviewers often find the points sharp enough for peppers, onions and fruit. A minority report thin sticks, snapping or splitting, and the listing does not state a soak time. It is less convincing for a heavy load or a small air fryer.
How much do wooden skewers cost on amazon.co.uk?
In the 15 October 2026 extracts, long round packs were about £2.40 to £3.99 and short paddles about £3.75 to £5.74. The lowest price is ANECO at about £2.40 for 100 sticks at 25 cm. The highest is Oavie at about £6.99 for a stated 200 at 18 cm. Chef Aid was about £3.10. A later snippet showed about £2.90, so the shelf price moves. These figures are that snapshot, not the cheapest price on the day you buy.
What length of wooden skewer should you buy?
About 25 to 30 cm leaves a handle past the grate for meat and vegetables. About 12 to 18 cm suits platters and baskets that will not take a 30 cm stick. The 12 cm Lafefe and Admygo paddles are for finger food, and they are too short for a full grill kebab. Navoys and Guagua are 15 cm paddles. Oavie is 18 cm and is not called a paddle. Match the length to the job first.
How long should you soak wooden skewers?
BBC Good Food says soak wooden skewers for 30 minutes in cold water. A BBC satay recipe says at least 20 minutes. On these listings, ANECO says 30 minutes in hot water, Navoys says 20 to 30 minutes, and 1ABOVE says 10 minutes. Chef Aid and several others do not state a soak time. A 10-minute bullet is short for a long cook. Soaking limits burning. It is not a hygiene step, and bare ends can still char.
Are bamboo skewers the plastic-bamboo items the FSA told sellers to withdraw?
The Food Standards Agency told sellers to remove plastic utensils filled with bamboo. That notice is about plastic plus bamboo, not items made only of bamboo. These listings do not publish a composition test, so a food-grade bullet is a claim, not a named test. Assimilated Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 says a food-contact article must not transfer constituents that endanger health in normal use. If you sell sticks and cannot show they are plain bamboo, ask a food-safety officer.
How do you know skewered meat is cooked through?
GOV.UK says do not wash raw chicken, use different plates for raw and ready-to-eat food, and cook kebabs through. The Food Standards Agency says skewered meat should be cooked all the way through, because the stick carries surface bacteria into the middle. Food Standards Scotland cites 75°C in the thickest part. Char on the stick is not doneness. Soaking the wood limits burning. It does not cook the meat. If someone is ill after undercooked kebab meat, use NHS 111.
Should you buy a round stick or a paddle?
Round sticks thread more food along the length. A paddle gives a grip and, where the listing says so, helps stop food spinning, but the flat end uses up length. Guagua, Navoys, Lafefe and Admygo are paddles at 12 or 15 cm. 1ABOVE states round sticks. Chef Aid does not name the shape. If the job is a rod for a joint rather than a pointed food stick, see the wooden dowels comparison.
Does biodegradable on the pack mean you can compost the sticks?
England allows wood where a reusable plastic item is not the point of the single-use plastics ban. A biodegradable line is not BS EN 13432, and it is not confirmation that a food-waste caddy will take the sticks. Karrma says the sticks can be disposed of after cooking. The listing does not say they are reusable. Flat stainless skewers need no soak, and they get hot. That is a different product from these packs.
Our verdict
The top pick is the Chef Aid pack of 100 bamboo sticks at about 30 to 30.5 cm and about £3.10. The listing is 4.6 from 4,590 reviews, the largest count here, and reviewers often find the points sharp enough for meat, peppers, onions and fruit. A minority report thin sticks, snapping or splitting, and the bullets do not state a soak time. The best value is the ANECO pack of 100 at 25 cm and about £2.40, with a stated 2.5 mm thickness, a 45-degree tip and a 30-minute hot-water soak. One buyer reported burning ends, and the review sample is smaller than Chef Aid.
