The best safes, compared.

Top pick: KornerBatl HTA-25F Best value: Bonsaii SF005-N – £15.49 is the lowest shelf price here, with 569 ratings of its own. Batteries are not in the box, and there is no EN grade. Updated October 2026.

Peter F.Editor

A home safe is a lockable steel cabinet for cash, passports, documents or jewellery in a UK house, flat or small office. Quality is not the word anti-theft in the title. It is whether the listing shows a real grade such as EN 14450 or EN 1143-1, whether the box is heavy enough and bolted into something solid, and whether you can still open it when the batteries die. A typical listing does not state those grade labels. A fire bag is not a fire rating, and a cash figure belongs to a certificate plus your insurer, not to a velvet lining. There was no attack test and no fire test. Light electronic cabinets, about 4 to 15 litres and 2 to 9 kg, suit everyday papers if you bolt them down. Certified S2 and safes are a different shop. How to choose is set out in the [safe buying guide](/hub/safes-and-secure-storage/safe/sub/safe-buying-guide).

The best safes in detail

KornerBatl HTA-25F

Rank 1

KornerBatl HTA-25F

∼£65

Our view

The KornerBatl HTA-25F lists four ways in: a fingerprint sensor for up to 30 prints, a PIN, an emergency key, and USB-C, at 8.5 kg and £64.99. The star line is 4.6 from 253 ratings, the highest here, drawn from 18 UK review texts plus listing summary lines. Reviewers who got on with it praise more than one way to open it and a size that suited cash, jewellery, and documents for them. The capacity field says 14 litres and a highlight says 22 litres, on an outside of 25 x 35 x 25 cm. A listing summary says fingerprint recognition is inconsistent, and one UK review wants the USB-C port on the top at the back rather than where it sits. The mount field says freestanding while the bullets mention pre-drilled holes, and no fire standard is claimed. You are paying a mid price for a sensor on a box whose litres do not agree.

Pros

  • Fingerprint, PIN, key, and USB-C on one listing
  • 4.6 from 253 ratings
  • 8.5 kg, heavier than the small Yales
  • Interior LED and a removable shelf listed

Cons

  • 14 litres in the table and 22 litres in the highlight
  • Fingerprint called inconsistent in the listing summary
  • Freestanding in the mount field, holes in the bullets
  • No fire standard

Best for: A mid cupboard box if you will test the sensor with the door open and ignore the title litres.

Less suitable: Anyone who needs one agreed capacity, or a sensor they can trust on the first try.

Common questions

How many ways can you open it?

The listing says four: fingerprint (up to 30), PIN, emergency key, and USB-C power when the battery is low.

Is it fireproof?

No fire standard is listed. A summary line says it does not seem fireproof.

What is in the box?

The components field says the safe only. The bullets also describe keys, a shelf, and pre-drilled holes.

Yale YSV/200/DB2

Rank 2

Yale YSV/200/DB2

∼£30

Our view

The Yale YSV/200/DB2 gives you an 8.6 litre cabinet at 3.6 kg for £30.43, with a 3-8 digit PIN, two override keys, four AA batteries, and wall or floor bolts in the box. Across 4.5 from 5,117 amazon.co.uk ratings, 49 UK reviews describe setting the code in minutes, bolting the pre-drilled case inside a wardrobe, and using it for papers, passports, and small collections such as coins. Reviewers who wanted a heavy safe say it is light, and several say it is not for serious value. A bullet claims accreditation under the Police Preferred Specification, which is not a cash figure and not an EN 1143-1 grade. External size is not printed as a full triple, and the depth field on the listing is not a usable figure, so measure before you commit to a cupboard. There is no fire claim. For a bolted passport box with a large UK review file, it is the top pick in this set, and it remains an ungraded deterrent if you leave the bolts in the packet.

Pros

  • Largest UK review file in this set, and the text matches this size
  • Batteries, two keys, and fixing bolts included
  • 8.6 litres for papers and passports
  • Two-year warranty and a printed lockdown

Cons

  • 3.6 kg, and UK reviews call it light
  • Not for serious value, in those same reviews
  • No external size triple and no fire claim
  • Police Preferred line is not a cash rating

Best for: Passports, papers, and a small collection you will bolt inside a wardrobe.

Less suitable: Jewellery or shop cash an insurer will only cover in a named grade, or deeds that must survive a fire.

Common questions

Is it a Eurograde safe?

No grade number is in the listing. One bullet says Yale Value safes are accredited under the Police Preferred Specification. That is not a cash rating.

Can you bolt it to a wall?

Yes. Fixing bolts for wall or floor are in the box, and UK reviews describe bolting it inside a wardrobe.

Is it fireproof?

The listing does not claim fire resistance.

Yale YSV/170/DB2

Rank 3

Yale YSV/170/DB2

∼£25

Our view

The Yale YSV/170/DB2 is listed as 4.2 litres and 2.3 kg at £24.99, with a 3-8 digit PIN, two keys, four AA batteries, and fixing bolts. The star line is 4.5 from 5,117 ratings, the same count as the YSV/200/DB2, and the UK review text repeats that small-safe write-up, including a note that names the Yale Small Value Safe. This page does not treat those paragraphs as a separate sample for the mini. A chamber line prints a 35 cm width against an external width of 20.5 cm, so measure the box rather than trust that width. A bullet names a laptop, which 4.2 litres will not hold. Wrong codes lock the keypad for 20 seconds, then for five minutes, and no fire rating is claimed. Buy it only as a cards-and-passport cabinet if the steel you unpack matches the 4.2 litre field.

Pros

  • Four AA batteries and fixing bolts in the box
  • Two-year warranty printed
  • PIN lockdown after wrong codes
  • 2.3 kg is easy to site before you bolt it

Cons

  • Review text repeats the YSV/200/DB2, so 5,117 is not a mini-only sample
  • Chamber width on the listing is wider than the outside
  • 4.2 litres against a bullet that names a laptop

Best for: Cards and a passport, once you have measured the mini and stored the keys outside.

Less suitable: Anyone treating the 5,117 ratings as proof of this size, or anyone storing a laptop.

Common questions

Does it hold a laptop?

The bullet names a laptop. The capacity field is 4.2 litres, which is a cards-and-passport size, not a laptop size.

What happens after wrong codes?

The keypad locks for 20 seconds after three wrong PINs, then for five minutes after three more.

Is a fire rating listed?

No. The listing does not claim fire resistance.

Bonsaii SF005-N

Rank 4

Bonsaii SF005-N

∼£15

Our view

The Bonsaii SF005-N is a 6.6 litre keypad cabinet, 17 x 23 x 17 cm outside and 2.3 kg, so you can lift it with one hand until the two expansion bolts are in. At £15.49 it is the lowest shelf price in this set, with 4.4 from 569 amazon.co.uk ratings. In the 49 UK reviews read for this comparison, people who wanted a small box praise the code change, USB-C power when the batteries die, and bolting it into a wardrobe. The listing says batteries are not included, and battery performance is a complaint that returns. Those reviews also say it is not high security, and there is no fire claim and no EN grade. It is the best value here for passports and cards if you supply batteries, keep both keys outside, and bolt it down.

Pros

  • Lowest shelf price in this set at £15.49
  • 569 amazon.co.uk ratings of its own
  • USB-C backup if the batteries are flat
  • Two keys and two expansion bolts listed

Cons

  • Batteries are not in the box
  • 2.3 kg until you bolt it
  • UK reviews say it is not high security
  • No fire claim and no EN grade

Best for: Passports and cards in a wardrobe, if you add batteries and use the bolts.

Less suitable: Jewellery an insurer has graded, a laptop, or anyone who will not bolt a 2.3 kg box.

Is it fireproof?

The listing does not claim a fire rating or a fire bag.

AltiKeep 60 L

Rank 5

AltiKeep 60 L

∼£120

Our view

The AltiKeep 60 litre cabinet weighs 12.5 kg and costs £119.98, with 4.4 from 99 ratings and 19 UK reviews in the sample. Outside it is 31 x 35 x 42 cm, while the chamber line is 34 x 30 x 44 cm, which is larger than the outside, so one of those figures is wrong. Reviewers who were happy with the shell call it sturdy, with a simple code and an interior light. The offer lists a fire bag the bullet calls A4 at 33.5 x 24 cm, plus an external battery pack, and UK reviews say the pouch or the power pack was missing. One buyer calls the pouch A5 and too small for documents, and one support email about the missing parts went unanswered. There is no EN 15659 number. Lifetime key replacement is the warranty line, which does not replace a bag that never arrived.

Pros

  • 60 litres in the title and the capacity field
  • Interior light and a silent keypad listed
  • Two bottom fixing holes and three door bolts listed
  • Lifetime key replacement printed

Cons

  • Chamber line is larger than the external size
  • UK reviews report a missing pouch or power pack
  • One pouch called A5 against an A4 claim
  • No EN 15659 label

Best for: Home papers if you check the carton for the pack and the pouch on day one.

Less suitable: Originals that need a named fire time, or a plan based on the chamber being larger than the case.

How is it fixed?

Two pre-drilled bottom holes and expansion bolts are listed, with three 20 mm bolts on the door.

What if the batteries die?

An external battery pack and spare keys are listed. Lifetime key replacement is the warranty line.

Yale YSV/390/DB2

Rank 6

Yale YSV/390/DB2

∼£78

Our view

The Yale YSV/390/DB2 is the 40 litre Yale in this set, 10.6 kg at £77.68, with 4.3 from 215 ratings and 41 UK reviews in the sample. The carton lists a PIN, two keys, four AA batteries, bolts, and a carpeted interior, and reviewers who fitted it praise the space for family valuables. The bullet prints the outside as 390 x 350 x 360 mm and the table as 38 x 42 x 37 cm, and buyers flag that clash as well as the instructions. One UK review says the first keypad row stopped working after about 18 months, and a shorter code worked around it. Lockdown is 20 seconds, then five minutes. It is not water resistant and it claims no fire rating. Use the internal bullet of 380 x 340 x 310 mm only as a starting check for A4, then measure the carcass you receive.

Pros

  • 40 litres in both the bullet and the capacity field
  • Batteries, two keys, and bolts included
  • Carpeted interior
  • 215 ratings, a separate sample from the small Yale

Cons

  • External size lines do not match
  • Instructions called poor, with one buyer sent to a video
  • One report of a dead keypad row after about 18 months
  • No fire rating

Best for: Family papers in a cupboard, after you measure the case against the space.

Less suitable: A tight alcove planned from one of the two external lines, or a fire-rated store for deeds.

The bullet says 390 x 350 x 360 mm. The table says 38 x 42 x 37 cm. Both are on the listing.

ToruKeep UK-45G-FH

Rank 7

ToruKeep UK-45G-FH

∼£165

Our view

The ToruKeep is £164.99 and 13 kg, with 4.2 from 188 ratings and 44 UK reviews in the sample. The title says 50 litres and the capacity field says 60 litres, on an outside of 31 x 35 x 45 cm. Reviewers often call it solid and easy to install, and they mention the interior light. A minority call the protection ordinary rather than high security, and the reviews do not discuss fire performance even though the title says fireproof. A bullet says fireproof certified and per UL standards if you anchor it, with no certificate number and no EN 15659 label, and a fire bag is also claimed. The components field says the safe only, while the bullets describe screws, a bag, and keys. Type-C backup is listed for a flat battery. You are at the top of this set's prices for litres and a fire sentence the UK reviews do not confirm.

Pros

  • 188 ratings, the largest file among the bigger cabinets
  • Type-C backup and a lit keypad
  • Interior light mentioned often in UK reviews
  • Pre-drilled holes listed

Cons

  • Title says 50 litres and the table says 60 litres
  • Fire wording has no certificate number
  • Components field says the safe only
  • £164.99 without an EN grade

Best for: A larger keypad cupboard if you treat the fire line as unproven and measure the litres yourself.

Less suitable: Deeds you need certified for paper in a fire, or a budget under £80.

External size is 31 x 35 x 45 cm and weight is 13 kg. Capacity is 50 L in the title and 60 litres in the table.

Type-C backup is listed, and keys are described as an override during lockdown.

AltiKeep 30 L

Rank 8

AltiKeep 30 L

∼£80

Our view

The AltiKeep cabinet titled 30 L weighs 6.8 kg and is listed at £79.89, while the capacity field says 28 litres, with 4.0 from 273 ratings. External size is 25 x 35 x 25 cm. In 22 UK reviews, people who liked it call it sturdy for the size and say the code was easy and it held more than they expected. The components list names a fire bag, an emergency battery pack, bolts, and spare keys, and UK reviewers repeatedly say the fire bag was not in the parcel. There is no EN 15659 label, so a bag that does arrive is still not a timed paper rating. A water-resistant line and an alarm are claimed on the listing. Check the carton against that components list before you rely on the backup pack.

Pros

  • 273 ratings, more than the 60 litre AltiKeep
  • Emergency battery pack and spare keys listed
  • LED and a removable shelf
  • Bolts in the components list

Cons

  • Title says 30 L and the table says 28 litres
  • UK reviews say the fire bag was missing
  • No EN 15659 label
  • 6.8 kg if you leave it unfixed

Best for: A small cupboard for everyday papers, if the battery pack is actually in the carton.

Less suitable: Deeds you bought it to fire-protect, or a plan that needs the title litres to be exact.

HSGCJS fingerprint

Rank 9

HSGCJS fingerprint

∼£110

Our view

The HSGCJS fingerprint cabinet is £109.99 and 12 kg, with a title of 27 litres, a model line of 29L, and a capacity field of 1.2 cubic feet. Stars are 4.0 from 100 ratings, and eight UK review texts sit in the sample. Buyers who got it working mention A4 room, a shelf, and a choice of key, fingerprint, or PIN, for up to 28 prints as listed. More than one UK household could not enrol a fingerprint or set a new PIN, and the alarm sounded while they tried. A review also says you can carry it away if you do not use the pre-drilled holes. No fire standard is stated, and USB-C is not named. The sensor is the feature you are paying for, and failed enrolment is the reason to keep the key where you can reach it before the door shuts.

Pros

  • Key, PIN, and fingerprint listed together
  • 12 kg, with pre-drilled holes
  • One UK review found room for A4 and a shelf
  • LED listed

Cons

  • Enrolment and a new PIN failed for more than one UK household
  • Alarm sounded during setup in those reviews
  • 27 litres, 29L, and 1.2 cubic feet do not agree
  • No fire standard

Best for: A household that will programme the lock with the door open and then bolt the 12 kg case.

Less suitable: Anyone who needs the sensor to enrol first time, or a single agreed litre figure.

NALULI A6-45ZW

Rank 10

NALULI A6-45ZW

∼£170

Our view

The NALULI A6-45ZW is the 52 litre, 21.4 kg fingerprint twin of the keypad model, at £169.99, claiming up to 20 prints, a keypad, and two keys. Stars are 3.9 from 19 ratings, with seven UK review texts. A household that enrolled prints praises the sensor, the LED, A4 lying flat, and wardrobe bolts. One UK review says the key turned only halfway and the door would not open or close, and that the setup button and battery cover were hard to find. The sample is small enough that one failed door matters. No fire standard is stated. The extra £10 over the keypad NALULI buys a sensor, not a grade, and you still need the external battery pack and the keys kept outside.

Pros

  • Same 52 litre, 21.4 kg class as the keypad NALULI
  • Fingerprint, keypad, and key listed
  • Two bolts and an external battery pack in the box list
  • One UK household enrolled prints and bolted it to a wardrobe

Cons

  • One UK review could not open the door with the key
  • Only 19 ratings
  • Setup button hard to find in that review
  • No fire standard

Best for: A heavy bolted cabinet only if you prove the key and the sensor with the door open before you trust it.

Less suitable: A first safe, a fire store, or anyone who will not test the override before the door shuts.

NALULI A6-45DZ

Rank 11

NALULI A6-45DZ

∼£160

Our view

The NALULI A6-45DZ is a 52 litre keypad cabinet at 21.4 kg, the heaviest shell in this set, listed at £159.99. The star line is 3.6 from 11 ratings, and only three UK review texts were in the sample, so the average is a thin sample. Those reviews praise a heavy body, room left after valuables go in, and bolts that were straightforward to use. One calls it a deterrent rather than a strongroom, including for shop cash, and says the keypad and dial feel cheap. That review cites £255.99, which is not the £159.99 shelf price on this listing. One UK review says it is not fully fireproof, and the bullets do not claim a fire standard. Two keys and an external battery pack are listed. At 21 kg it is still a two-person carry upstairs, and it still needs the two bolts.

Pros

  • 52 litres and 21.4 kg, the heaviest in this set
  • Two bolts, two keys, and an external battery pack listed
  • Alarm after five wrong codes
  • No fingerprint to enrol

Cons

  • 3.6 from only 11 ratings
  • One review calls the controls cheap
  • Not a strongroom for shop cash, in that review
  • No fire standard and no EN grade

Best for: A cupboard that can take a 21 kg bolted cabinet, if you can live with 11 ratings.

Less suitable: A solo carry upstairs, a fire store, or a decision that needs a large review file.

No fire standard is in the bullets. One UK review says it is not fully fireproof.

What if the code is forgotten?

Two emergency keys and an external battery pack are listed. The bullet says not to lock the keys inside.

How we compared

For this comparison we scored eleven amazon.co.uk home-safe listings on 16 October 2026. A home safe here is a lockable cabinet, not a key safe and not a certified Eurograde from a specialist. Scores use stars, review volume, listing clarity, the stated job and the GBP shelf price, with deductions where the listing or UK reviews flag a real gap. There was no attack test and no fire test.

The amazon.co.uk star average is scaled to a 30-point cap. 4.6 becomes 28, 4.5 becomes 27, and 3.6 becomes 22. That line is the listing score. It is not the editorial total, and it is not a burglary grade.

2

Review volume

20%

1,000 or more reviews on this ASIN alone take 20 points. A shared star line does not count twice: the Yale text attaches to the YSV/200/DB2, and the mini keeps a low volume score.

3

Listing clarity

20%

Points for a lock that matches the title, sizes that do not fight, an explicit fire or water line, and a printed warranty. A bag or a UL sentence with no standard number scores less.

4

Stated job

15%

A passport cabinet whose litres agree scores higher than a laptop bullet on 4.2 litres, a litre fight, or a fingerprint cabinet whose UK reviews say setup failed.

5

Price

15%

About £15.49 takes the full 15 points in this set. About £170 takes 1. The price is the amazon.co.uk shelf price, not a claim that it is the cheapest safe in the UK.

Safe buying guide

Decide the job before the ASIN. Passports and a card wallet are a small bolted cabinet. A4 papers need a size you have checked, and jewellery an insurer will only cover in a named grade is outside this set. None of these eleven amazon.co.uk listings prints EN 14450 or EN 1143-1. Prices run from about £15.49 to about £169.99. A fire bag is not a timed paper rating. Weights run from 2.3 kg to 21.4 kg, and every cabinet here should be anchored.

What is a home safe?

Light electronic cabinets, about 4 to 15 litres and 2 to 9 kg, suit everyday papers if you bolt them down. Mid marketplace cabinets, about 28 to 40 litres and roughly £65 to £120 in this set, add room and sometimes a light, a shelf or a bag. Larger marketplace boxes, the NALULI at 52 litres and 21.4 kg and the ToruKeep around 50 to 60 litres and 13 kg, about £155 to £170, are still ungraded in these listings. Certified S2 and Eurograde safes are a different shop.

Best for

  • Passports and a card wallet in a flat, if you can bolt into something solid
  • Family papers in a cupboard, once the litre figure and the space agree

Not ideal for

  • Jewellery or shop cash an insurer will only cover in a named grade
  • Deeds you need certified for paper in a fire

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Reading fireproof as a paper rating

A fire bag, or the word fireproof, is not EN 15659 LFS 30P or LFS 60P. That label means paper for the stated minutes, and it is separate from a burglary grade. UK reviews on some bags say the pouch never arrived.

  2. 2

Treating a badge line as a cash limit

A Secured by Design sentence is not an EN 1143-1 grade and not a £40,000 jewellery rating. Cash shorthand belongs to a certificate plus your insurer. None of these eleven listings prints EN 14450 or EN 1143-1.

  3. 3

    Trusting the title litres

Several titles, capacity fields and highlights disagree. Leaving the spare key inside, or screwing into plywood and calling it fixed, leaves you locked out or with a box that can be carried.

What to weigh up

Job, grade and size

High

Start with the job, not the title. Passports and a spare key are a different purchase from jewellery an insurer will only cover inside a named grade. EN 14450 S1 and S2, and EN 1143-1, are burglary grades. None of the eleven cabinet listings prints those labels. A Secured by Design sentence on the Yale YSV/200/DB2 is a claim to check on the register, not a cash rating and not an EN 1143-1 grade.

Weight, fixing and a way back in

High

Every safe in this set is far under the 1,000 kg line that Chubb and Howden treat as a cabinet you must anchor. Listed weights run from 2.3 kg on the Bonsaii and the Yale mini to 21.4 kg on the NALULI cabinets. Bolts into plasterboard, a thin wardrobe shelf or plywood are a known claims problem. Wooden floors need the insurer's view. Hiding the box is not a substitute for bolts.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Passports in a flat

You want passports and a card wallet out of a drawer, and you can bolt into something solid. The Yale YSV/200/DB2 is 8.6 litres at 3.6 kg, with batteries, two keys and bolts in the box, and the UK review text attaches to this size. It prints no EN grade.

Family papers in a cupboard

You need room for A4 papers and you will measure the case. The Yale YSV/390/DB2 is the 40 litre cabinet whose capacity lines agree, at 10.6 kg and about £77.68. The two external size lines do not match, and it claims no fire rating.

Lowest price for cards

You want the lowest shelf price for passports and cards, and you will add batteries. The Bonsaii SF005-N is £15.49, 6.6 litres and 2.3 kg, with 4.4 from 569 ratings of its own and USB-C if the batteries die. Bolt it down. It is not a named insurance grade.

Common questions about safes

Which home safe is the top pick in 2026?
The top pick in this set is the Yale YSV/200/DB2 at about £30.43. It is an 8.6 litre cabinet at 3.6 kg, with 4.5 from 5,117 amazon.co.uk ratings. Batteries, two override keys and fixing bolts are in the box. The listing prints no EN 14450 or EN 1143-1 number. Reviewers who wanted a heavy safe call it light. It is a bolted passport box, not an insurance grade.
How much does a home safe cost on amazon.co.uk?
On the listings in this comparison, entry keypad cabinets run about £15.49 to £30.43: the Bonsaii SF005-N, the Yale mini and the Yale small. Mid cabinets sit about £64.99 to £119.98, including the KornerBatl, the 40 litre Yale and both AltiKeep sizes. Larger marketplace boxes run about £159.99 to £169.99 for the two NALULI cabinets and the ToruKeep. These are amazon.co.uk shelf prices, and they move.
What should you check before you buy a safe?
Check the job first. Passports and a spare key are a different purchase from jewellery an insurer will only cover inside a named grade. Then look for EN 14450 or EN 1143-1, or accept that none of these eleven listings prints those labels. Weight here runs from 2.3 kg to 21.4 kg, and a safe under 1,000 kg should be anchored into something solid. Reconcile litre claims when the title and the table disagree.
Is a fire bag the same as a fireproof safe?
No. A fire bag, or the word fireproof, is not EN 15659 LFS 30P or LFS 60P. That standard means paper for the stated minutes, and it is separate from a burglary grade. Several listings here claim a bag or a UL sentence without a certificate number. UK reviews on the AltiKeep cabinets say a pouch was missing. For a named paper rating, start with the fireproof safe comparison.
Will these safes raise a home-insurance cash limit?
A stated cash or jewellery limit comes from a certificate plus your insurer. EN 14450 S1 is commonly quoted at about £2,000 cash and £20,000 valuables, and S2 at about £4,000 and £40,000, as trade shorthand. Secured by Design and insurers both say the policy can differ. None of these cabinets prints those grades. The ABI notes a contents single-item limit often around £1,500 unless you specify the item.
Do you have to bolt a home safe down?
Yes if it weighs under 1,000 kg, which every model here does. Chubb and Howden treat that line as a cabinet you must anchor, preferably into masonry. Bolts into plasterboard or a thin wardrobe shelf are a known claims problem, and wooden floors need the insurer's view. Listed weights run from 2.3 kg to 21.4 kg, so an unfixed box can be carried. Hiding it does not replace the bolts.
What if the batteries die or you forget the code?
Keep the override keys outside the safe. Prefer a listing that also has an external battery pack or USB-C, and test both with the door open before you shut it on the only key. The Bonsaii and the KornerBatl list USB-C. The Yale small includes four AA batteries and a key, not a USB port. If the door is already shut and you have no key and no external power, call a locksmith.
When should you leave this set?
Leave this amazon.co.uk set if your insurer has named a grade and no certificate on the listing matches. Call a professional when the only substrate is heated screed or a tanked wall, when a 21 kg cabinet has to go upstairs before it is bolted, or when the door is shut with no key and no external power. Screwing into plywood and calling it fixed is a mistake these sources flag. No attack test was run here.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Yale YSV/200/DB2. The UK review text attaches to this 8.6 litre cabinet, batteries and bolts are in the box, and the score is not a burglary grade. It is still 3.6 kg, and the listing prints no EN number. The best value is the Bonsaii SF005-N at £15.49. Its 569 ratings are its own, and batteries are not in the box. The cheaper Yale mini is not the value pick, because the review text repeats the small Yale and a bullet names a laptop on 4.2 litres.
