Best cabinet safe

Updated: October 2026

You want one cabinet for passports, one that will sit in a cupboard, and a reason to walk away if the insurer has named a grade. A best cabinet safe list often sells EN 14450 boxes this amazon.co.uk set does not contain. Stars on a 3.6 kg Yale and a 21.4 kg NALULI measure different things. The [safe comparison](/hub/safes-and-secure-storage/safe) is the full table. This page matches three jobs, then says who should buy an S2 somewhere else. Peter F., DIY and tools editor, wrote it on 16 October 2026 from the UK listings. No lab test was run. Amazon links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Passports and a drawer deterrent

For passports, a spare key, and cards, bolt the light boxes. The Yale YSV/200/DB2 is the top pick: 8.6 litres, 3.6 kg, £30.43, with four AA batteries, two keys, and fixing bolts. UK reviews describe setting the code in minutes and bolting it inside a wardrobe. They also say it is light and not for serious value. A Police Preferred bullet is not a cash rating. Measure the case before you drill. The Bonsaii SF005-N at £15.49 is the best value: 6.6 litres, 2.3 kg, and USB-C, with batteries not included. UK reviews call it a wardrobe box. The Yale mini at £24.99 shares the small Yale’s 5,117-rating line, so that count is not a test of the mini. The criteria are on the buying guide.

A mid cupboard with a backup way in

The Yale YSV/390/DB2 is the cleanest mid capacity: 40 litres, 10.6 kg, £77.68, 4.3 from 215 ratings, with batteries, keys, and bolts. One line says 390 × 350 × 360 mm and the table says 38 × 42 × 37 cm. One buyer lost the first keypad row after about 18 months. There is no fire claim. The KornerBatl HTA-25F at £64.99 adds a sensor, 4.6 from 253 ratings, and litres that read 14 and 22. That star line is not a grade, and a summary says recognition is inconsistent. Fire-bag claims belong on the document page. None of these is the stop if the insurer has written S2.

A4 and a heavier box

Flat A4 needs a chamber you have checked. The AltiKeep 60 litre cabinet is £119.98 and 12.5 kg, outside 31 × 35 × 42 cm. The chamber line is larger than the outside. One buyer calls the pouch A5 against an A4 line. The NALULI pair is 52 litres and 21.4 kg. The keypad model is £159.99 with 3.6 from 11 ratings. The fingerprint twin has a review in which the key turned halfway. The ToruKeep at £164.99 says 50 litres in the title and 60 in the table. Bolting is still required, on how to bolt a safe down. Mass is not a certificate.

When none of these is the best safe

If the policy names S2, none of these eleven is the best cabinet safe for that policy. Safe.co.uk showed a Burton Home Safe S2 size 1E at £283.45 when this research was done: EN 14450 S2, about 11 litres, about 19 kg. That price is the shop’s, not amazon.co.uk. An 11 litre certified box can be smaller than the NALULI and still be the one the insurer meant. AltiKeep and ToruKeep mention bags or a UL sentence. Neither prints LFS 30P or LFS 60P. For passports, stay with the Yale small or the Bonsaii and keep the keys outside. For jewellery the insurer has named, leave this table.

Common questions

Which of these is enough for passports?
The Yale YSV/200/DB2, 8.6 litres at £30.43, is the one to start with. UK reviews describe that size, and the bolts and batteries are in the box. The Bonsaii at £15.49 and 6.6 litres is enough if you add batteries. Both need bolts. Neither is a grade for jewellery.
Which has room for A4?
Look past the 4.2 and 8.6 litre Yales. The Yale large quotes an internal size of 380 × 340 × 310 mm, after you reconcile the two external lines. The 52 litre NALULI has a UK review that mentions A4 lying flat. The AltiKeep 60 litre outside is 31 × 35 × 42 cm, and its chamber line cannot be true at the same time. Measure paper against the open door.
Why is the highest star rating not the pick for jewellery?
The KornerBatl’s 4.6 from 253 and the Yale small’s 4.5 from 5,117 say that buyers found a budget cabinet workable. They do not say an insurer has accepted a sum. Jewellery cover in UK shorthand sits on EN 14450 or EN 1143-1, and none of these listings print those labels.
Is the 21 kg NALULI the best because it is heaviest?
No. It is the hardest of these boxes to tuck under an arm, which UK reviews mention, and it is still under the 1,000 kg line that has to be anchored. The keypad NALULI has 11 ratings. Weight without a grade is a lifting problem and a fixing problem.
What should I buy instead if the insurer names S2?
Leave this set. A Burton Home Safe S2 size 1E was £283.45 at Safe.co.uk at the time of research, about 11 litres, EN 14450 S2. Confirm the current certificate and the current price with the seller and with your insurer, including how it must be fixed. Do not substitute the £169.99 NALULI because it costs less and weighs a similar amount.
