Fireproof safe for documents UK

Updated: October 2026

You have a will, deeds, or passports, and a listing that says fireproof. You need to know which cabinets can hold the paper, and which words are not a fire test. A fireproof safe for documents in UK shops is usually an EN 15659 box with an LFS 30P or LFS 60P label. None of these eleven extracts print that label. The [safe comparison](/hub/safes-and-secure-storage/safe) is the price table. This page stays on paper and fire. Peter F., DIY and tools editor, wrote it on 16 October 2026 from the listings. No furnace test was run. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What for documents has to fit

A passport wallet can live in the Yale mini at 4.2 litres if the case matches that field. It will not hold a stack of deeds. The Yale small, 8.6 litres, is what UK reviewers use for papers and passports. That is everyday paper, not a fire strategy. The first Yale you can hold a ruler against is the YSV/390/DB2: 380 × 340 × 310 mm inside a 40 litre body. The two external lines do not match. The smaller AltiKeep says 30 L in the title and 28 litres in the table. ToruKeep says 50 litres in the title and 60 in the table. If you are buying space for A4, use the external centimetres, then confirm on delivery. Those clashes sit in order on the buying guide. A deed does not fold to suit a title.

A bag, a sentence, a label

EN 15659 is the paper standard UK sellers cite, with LFS 30P or LFS 60P for the minutes. Chubb’s point is that a burglary safe is only brief insulation, and paper is discussed against an interior around 170°C. A document bag buys time. It is not a safe. The 60 litre AltiKeep lists a bag the bullet calls A4, 33.5 × 24 cm. UK reviews say the pouch or the pack was missing, and one buyer calls the pouch A5. Even a bag that arrives is not LFS 60P. The ToruKeep bullet says fireproof certified and per UL standards if you anchor it, with no certificate number. Across its UK reviews, fire is not what people discuss. Yale and the Bonsaii claim no fire resistance, which is the clearer listing.

Which cabinets in this set have the room

For passports only, the Yale small or the Bonsaii has the room, once bolted. For flat A4, skip 4.2 and 6.6 litres. The 40 litre Yale has the internal millimetre line. The AltiKeep 60 litre outside is 31 × 35 × 42 cm, and the chamber line is bigger than the case. The NALULI at 32 × 38 × 45 cm has a UK note about A4 lying flat, in a sample of 19 ratings that also includes a door that would not open. The ToruKeep at £164.99 is the same physical class as the £119.98 AltiKeep, without a proven paper rating. Bolts are on how to bolt a safe down. They stop the cabinet leaving. They do not add minutes.

When a specialist fire safe is the honest buy

Buy outside this set when the document is the only copy and it has to survive a fire. A dual-certificate example, not sold here, is a De Raat Combi-Fire at 34 litres and 91 kg with both LFS 60P and S2. Fire lining is heavy. The 12.5 kg AltiKeep and the 13 kg ToruKeep are not in that class. Burton’s Firebrand size 3 is EN 15659 LFS 60P, about 41 litres. A paper rating is not a rating for a memory stick. If you only need passports locked against a quick search, stay with a bolted Yale or Bonsaii. If you need a burglary grade and a paper time, the best cabinet safe page is where this set’s jobs stop. Neither label is printed here.

Common questions

Will passports fit the 4.2 litre Yale?
A passport wallet can, if the YSV/170/DB2 you unpack is actually 4.2 litres. The extract prints a chamber width wider than the outside, so measure. The Yale small at 8.6 litres is the one UK reviews describe for papers. Neither claims a fire time.
Which listing is large enough for A4 flat?
The Yale large bullet’s internal 380 × 340 × 310 mm is the clearest millimetre line. The NALULI at 32 × 38 × 45 cm has a UK note about A4 flat. The AltiKeep 60 litre case is 31 × 35 × 42 cm outside. Skip the 4.2, 6.6, and 8.6 litre boxes for a flat deed.
Is the AltiKeep bag A4?
The 60 litre bullet says A4 and gives 33.5 × 24 cm. A UK reviewer calls the pouch that arrived A5. Other reviews say the pouch or the power pack was not in the box. Treat the bag as a claim to check on the day.
Does fireproof certified on ToruKeep mean LFS 60P?
No. The bullet says fireproof certified and mentions UL if you anchor it. There is no certificate number and no EN 15659 label. UK reviews talk about a solid box, not a fire. Anchoring does not turn that sentence into a 60-minute paper test.
Can one safe do burglary and paper?
Only if it carries both kinds of label. S2 or a Eurograde is the burglary side. LFS 30P or LFS 60P is the paper side. The De Raat-style example in the research is heavy because the lining is heavy. None of these amazon.co.uk cabinets print either label. A heavier NALULI is still one job, deterrence after bolting, not both certificates.
