Jigsaw comparison 2026

The best jigsaws, compared.

Top pick: WORX WX550.4 2-in-1 saw Best value: HYCHIKA 800 W corded jigsaw – Best price against a stated 110 mm wood cut and a large review file, at about £32.19. Reviews say the laser misses the blade. Updated 16 October 2026.

A jigsaw is a hand-held power saw with a short, narrow blade that reciprocates through a shoe. You buy one for curves, internal cut-outs and short trims in wood, plastic and thin metal, not for ripping a full sheet of timber. Judge a saw by the blade lock, a shoe that holds its angle, a stated depth that covers your board, and faults that repeat in the reviews. It has no stated orbit, and the cutting-angle field says 90°. What to check before you pay is on the [jigsaw buying guide](/hub/power-saws/jigsaw/sub/jigsaw-buying-guide). It is the wrong tool for ripping a full sheet or for structural timber. On amazon.co.uk this set is mostly a corded DIY saw. Corded listings are mains tools marked 220 V, 230 V or 240 V: both DEKOPRO models, the DESOON, the HYCHIKA, the Enventor, both BLACK+DECKER models and the Bosch PST 700 E.

The best jigsaws in detail

WORX WX550.4 2-in-1 saw

Rank 1

WORX WX550.4 2-in-1 saw

∼£130

Our view

The WORX WX550.4 is a 20 V 2-in-1 at £129.99 whose head pivots from reciprocating saw to jigsaw, and the seven UK reviews like both modes, including one clean jigsaw cut. The highlight lists a 2.0 Ah battery, a charger, an LED and five blades, while the included-components field also says bare tool, so the battery story is not settled by one line. Special features say the motor is brushed. No wood depth and no bevel are stated, and Amazon ranks this ASIN under reciprocating saws. The listing shows 5.0 from 17 reviews, which is too small a file to treat as a reliability record, and one text mentions a long lead that does not match a cordless tool. One review mentions two batteries and another mentions a case, and neither shows up in the fields. Buy it when you want both modes on one WORX pack and you accept an unstated depth.

Pros

  • Reciprocating and jigsaw modes, with a button to pivot the head
  • 2.0 Ah battery and charger in the highlight
  • Five blades named, covering both shank types in the bullets
  • The seven written reviews like both modes

Cons

  • 5.0 from 17 reviews, with only seven texts
  • No stated wood depth or bevel
  • Included field says bare tool as well as a battery
  • Ranked under reciprocating saws, not as a plain jigsaw

Best for: Someone who wants demolition cuts and jigsaw curves on one 20 V WORX tool, and who can accept an unstated wood depth.

Less suitable: A buyer who only needs a jigsaw, a printed cutting depth, and a review file large enough to repeat a fault.

Common questions

Is the WX550.4 only a jigsaw?

No. The title calls it a 2-in-1 jigsaw and reciprocating saw. A button pivots the head. It accepts both reciprocating blades and T-shank jigsaw blades, in the bullets.

Does the listing include a battery?

The batteries field says one lithium-ion battery is included. The highlight says one 2.0 Ah battery and a charger. The included-components field also says bare tool, which conflicts with the battery line. A review mentions two batteries, which the fields do not.

Is a bevel or a wood depth stated?

Neither is in the bullets or the specification fields. Orbital cutting and a dust blower are named.

Bosch PST 700 E 500 W

Rank 2

Bosch PST 700 E 500 W

∼£45

Our view

Across 5,673 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Bosch PST 700 E is the corded saw people keep for shelves, doors, decking and laminate, and several long-term notes still have it working after years of occasional DIY. At £44.99 you get a 500 W, 240 V tool with a stated 70 mm wood cut, SDS blade change and a green carrying case, though the box holds only one blade and reviewers expect to buy a set. Two of the 44 UK reviews read here say the red SDS cover or the holder jammed on a later change. Orbital action is not in the bullets, and the cutting-angle field says 90°, while one review describes shoe stops at 0°, 22.5° and 45°. The bullets print ah 10.0 m/s², about half an hour of trigger time to the HSE action value on that declared figure, so a long day at work is not a comfort promise. In this set it is the top pick when you want the largest review file and a case beside a socket, and you can live without a stated orbit.

Pros

  • 4.7 from 5,673 reviews, the largest file in this set
  • SDS change that reviewers describe as a click
  • Carrying case in the title, with one blade
  • Stated 70 mm wood cut on a 500 W, 240 V saw
  • Printed vibration figure of ah 10.0 m/s²

Cons

  • Only one blade in the box, and it wears
  • SDS holder jammed in two of the reviews read
  • No orbital action in the bullets
  • Cutting-angle field says 90°, not a ±45° range

Best for: Occasional cuts beside a socket, such as a door, a shelf, laminate or a sink opening, when you will buy blades and you want a case plus a large UK review file.

Less suitable: A job that needs a stated orbital range, a bevel the specification field prints as ±45°, or a fast cut away from a mains lead.

Common questions

What vibration figure is printed on the Bosch listing?

The bullets state a vibration emission value ah of 10.0 m/s², alongside a low-vibration claim, linear mass balance and a soft grip. No other jigsaw in this set prints an ah figure.

Does the listing include orbital action and a bevel range?

Orbital action is not in the bullets. The cutting-angle field says 90 degrees. A UK review describes shoe positions at 0, 22.5 and 45 degrees, which is review text, not the specification field.

What arrives in the box?

The title says one saw blade and a carrying case. The included-components field says 1. Reviews describe a green case and say you will want more blades, and some bought a splinter guard separately.

WORX WX543.2 20 V jigsaw

Rank 3

WORX WX543.2 20 V jigsaw

∼£150

Our view

The WORX WX543.2 is a 20 V jigsaw at £149.99, and the highlight names a 2.0 Ah battery and a charger rather than a bare body. UK reviews cut thin steel and wood, including curves on a garden bench, and they use the four-position pendulum in soft wood. The listing states 80 mm in wood, 18 mm in aluminium and 8 mm in metal, with a 0–45° bevel either side. The wattage field prints 543.2 W, which matches the model number, and the bullets do not state watts, so that figure is not a motor rating. The weight field says 3.83 kg and the dimensions 77 × 19.5 × 19.6 cm, while reviews call the saw light and compact, so those fields read like a parcel. A return review says most of the supplied blades would not lock and blades fell out of the clamp. There is no warning before the battery ends. It suits a WORX owner who will tug-test every blade, and it is a poor exchange for a corded saw that only has to reach a nearby socket.

Pros

  • 2.0 Ah battery and charger named in the highlight
  • Stated 80 mm wood, 18 mm aluminium and 8 mm metal
  • Four pendulum positions, used in soft wood in reviews
  • 4.6 from 87 reviews, on the same battery family as other WORX tools

Cons

  • £149.99 against corded saws under £45
  • Supplied blades that would not lock, in a return review
  • Blade wobble on a straight cut, in one review
  • 543.2 W field copies the model number

Best for: A WORX PowerShare owner cutting away from a socket, including a little thin steel, after a tug-test on the blade.

Less suitable: A first corded DIY saw beside a socket, or anyone who treats 543.2 W as motor power.

Common questions

What cut depths does the WX543.2 listing state?

80 mm in wood, 18 mm in aluminium and 8 mm in metal, with four pendulum positions and a 0–45° bevel either side.

Is the 543.2 W figure a motor rating?

The wattage field prints 543.2 watts and the model is WX543.2. The bullets give 20 V and 0–2,600 RPM. They do not state watts. Treat 543.2 W as an unresolved field.

Does the included-components field list a case?

It says Battery. The highlight adds a 2.0 Ah battery and charger. Reviews describe a box with room for a second battery. The case is review text, not the included field.

DESOON 800 W corded jigsaw

Rank 4

DESOON 800 W corded jigsaw

∼£37

Our view

The DESOON is an 800 W corded jigsaw at £36.99, and 19 UK review texts describe laminate and kick boards cut with variable speed and four orbital settings. The bullets state 100 mm in timber and 6 mm in steel, with an LED, and the title adds a laser that several of those reviews praise. The weight field says 1.04 kg, while reviews call the saw quite heavy and solid, so do not plan around 1.04 kg. A plug arrived with a bent pin, which is a reason to send a UK 3-pin plug back, and one review says the saw failed to charge even though the power source is corded. There is no case in the kit list. With 4.6 from only 29 reviews, the stars sit on a short file. It can be a deeper corded saw if the pin is straight and you treat the laser as a bonus you do not follow.

Pros

  • Stated 100 mm timber and 6 mm steel
  • Four orbital settings and speed from 800 to 3,000 SPM
  • LED, and a laser that several of the 19 reviews praise
  • 4.6 from 29 reviews on laminate and kick boards

Cons

  • Weight field of 1.04 kg clashes with reviews that call it heavy
  • Bent plug pin on arrival
  • One charge-failure review on a corded listing
  • No case, and only 29 reviews

Best for: A corded 100 mm cut beside a socket, after you reject a bent pin and you do not steer by the laser.

Less suitable: A buyer who needs a large review file, a weight figure that matches the saw, or a case in the box.

Common questions

Is the DESOON listing cordless?

No. Power source is corded electric, and the bullets describe an 800 W mains jigsaw. One UK review says it failed to charge, which does not match a corded tool.

Does the listing include a laser?

The title says LED light laser, and the special-features field lists a laser guide. The kit bullet names the LED and does not repeat the laser.

What wood depth is stated?

The bullets say 100 mm maximum depth in timber and 6 mm in steel.

HYCHIKA 800 W corded jigsaw

Rank 5

HYCHIKA 800 W corded jigsaw

∼£32

Our view

The HYCHIKA M1Q-DU16-80 is an 800 W, 230 V corded jigsaw at £32.19, and UK reviews use it on 18 mm MDF, plywood, decking and laminate. The bullets state 110 mm in wood, 10 mm in metal, a 20 mm stroke and orbital settings marked 0–3, with seven speeds from 800 to 3,000 SPM. Quick release is praised against older screw clamps, and the delivery list has six T-shank blades, a guide ruler and a vacuum adapter, with no carry case. More than one review says the laser stops short of the blade or will not stay straight, so following it walks the cut off the line. There is no gradual start: one review says the motor delivers instant torque, and the blade needs to be in the wood before you pull the trigger. A bevel that slipped after about 10 cm in plywood, and one saw that died after a few uses, sit in a 50-review sample of 709, not across the whole file. At this price, with that stated depth, it is the best value in the set if you ignore the laser and fit a better blade.

Pros

  • £32.19 with a stated 110 mm wood cut and 10 mm in metal
  • 4.5 from 709 reviews
  • Orbital settings 0–3 and seven speeds
  • Quick blade change versus a screw clamp, in reviews
  • Vacuum adapter in the delivery list

Cons

  • Laser misses the blade in more than one review
  • No carry case in the delivery list
  • Instant torque, with no slow start in the bullets
  • Bevel slip and a saw that died appear in individual reviews

Best for: Sheet, decking and laminate beside a socket, when a stated 110 mm cut matters more than a case.

Less suitable: Anyone who would steer by the laser, or who wants the saw to arrive in a carry case.

Common questions

What cutting depth does the HYCHIKA listing state?

110 mm in wood and 10 mm in metal, with a 20 mm stroke. The blade-length field also says 110 mm.

Does it list a laser and a carry case?

A laser is in the title and the bullets. The delivery list has no carry case. It does list a guide ruler, a hex wrench and a vacuum adapter.

Do the bullets describe a soft start?

No. A UK review says the motor delivers instant torque with no gradual trigger, and that the blade needs to be seated in the wood before you start.

BLACK+DECKER KS701EK-GB 520 W

Rank 6

BLACK+DECKER KS701EK-GB 520 W

∼£35

Our view

The BLACK+DECKER KS701EK-GB is a 520 W corded saw at £34.79, and reviewers like the tool-free blade change and the kit box for laminate, cat flaps and decking. The bullets list variable speed, a dust-collection attachment, a rip fence and a mitre gauge, but the first 50 UK reviews often found only one blade. No wood depth is stated, and a 70 mm blade-length field is not a cutting capacity. Several reviews say pendulum action was on the page they bought and is not on the saw, and the extracted bullets do not mention it. In that sample a foot plate arrived bent, a speed switch stuck on until the saw was unplugged, a trigger failed after about five minutes, and one saw stopped after about an hour on the day it arrived. The listing also says a lithium-ion battery is required while the power source is corded. The case is the practical reason to look at this row, if the shoe is square and you do not need a printed depth.

Pros

  • Tool-free blade change
  • Kit box named in the item type, and praised in reviews
  • 4.5 from 403 reviews
  • Dust attachment, rip fence and mitre gauge in the included line

Cons

  • No stated wood cutting depth
  • Pendulum expected by reviewers and absent from the bullets
  • Early failures in the sample, including a bent foot and a switch stuck on
  • Often one blade, against an included line that says blades

Best for: Laminate and small cut-outs beside a socket, if you check the shoe and you can buy without a depth figure.

Less suitable: A buyer who needs pendulum action, or a stated millimetre capacity, before paying.

Common questions

Does the KS701EK listing include pendulum action?

The extracted bullets do not mention it. They list variable speed, tool-free blade change, dust extraction and low vibration. Several UK reviews say the page they bought from showed pendulum action and the saw does not have it.

What is listed in the box?

Extra saw blades, a blade guard, a dust collection attachment, a rip fence and a mitre gauge. The item type name says kit box. Reviews praise a carry case and also say only one blade was inside.

Is a wood cutting depth stated?

No depth figure is in the bullets or the specification fields. The blade-length field says 70 mm, which is not a cutting capacity.

DEKOPRO 400 W corded jigsaw

Rank 7

DEKOPRO 400 W corded jigsaw

∼£21

Our view

At £21.24 the 400 W DEKOPRO is the cheapest corded saw in this set, and UK reviews buy it for laminate, small MDF jobs and a terrace wall rather than a day on site. The bullets state a 55 mm wood cut, 6 mm in steel and an 18 mm stroke, with speed from 0 to 3,000 SPM and a ±45° base. Eight blades are listed, and some reviewers find the chuck easier than an old screw clamp. Orbital action, a light and a case are not in the bullets. More than one review struggles to seat the blade, and one buyer returned the saw unused because the lock would not close and the blade released as it was switched on. The best-seller line and the 27 × 22 × 9 cm dimensions match the 800 W DEKOPRO, so treat that rank and that size as unchecked. It can earn the price on thin sheet if the chuck holds when you tug the blade with the plug out.

Pros

  • Lowest shelf price in the set, £21.24
  • 4.5 from 296 reviews
  • Stated 55 mm wood cut, 6 mm steel and a ±45° base
  • Eight blades listed, with chuck steps in the bullets

Cons

  • A returned saw whose blade released at switch-on
  • Blade hard to seat in more than one review
  • No orbit, light or case in the bullets
  • Shared rank and dimensions with the 800 W DEKOPRO

Best for: A few laminate boards or small MDF cuts beside a socket, after you tug-test the chuck with the plug out.

Less suitable: Worktops, any board past the stated 55 mm, and anyone who needs orbital action.

Common questions

How deep does the 400 W DEKOPRO listing say it cuts?

55 mm in wood and 6 mm in steel, with an 18 mm stroke. The 800 W DEKOPRO listing states 100 mm in wood and a 22 mm stroke.

Is orbital action listed?

No. The bullets cover variable speed, a tool-less claim, bevel, a lock-on switch and an 18 mm stroke. They do not mention orbital settings.

How does the listing say you fit a blade?

Rotate the chuck knob anticlockwise until it stops, push a matched shank in with the teeth facing forward, release the knob and tug the blade. A partial insert is described as not locking.

BLACK+DECKER KS501-GB 400 W

Rank 8

BLACK+DECKER KS501-GB 400 W

∼£32

Our view

The BLACK+DECKER KS501-GB is a 400 W corded saw at £31.99, and the first 50 UK reviews use it for doors, cat flaps, small timber and occasional DIY, including one all-day job on 15 mm flooring. The bullets state 65 mm in wood, 5 mm in steel and 10 mm in aluminium, with a 0–45° bevel and a dust blower that reviewers say keeps the pencil line clearer. Blade change is not tool-free in those reviews: you undo two screws that are easy to drop, and more than one review says the blade will not stay in or that no blade was in the box. The weight bullets say 1.3 kg and the item-weight field says 1.7 kg, and the listing also says a lithium-ion battery is required on a saw whose power source is corded. Several reviews say a kit box was shown and was missing; the included-components field names only the saw. It is a known shape for thin sheet if you accept a screwdriver at every blade change.

Pros

  • 4.4 from 893 reviews, the second-largest file here
  • Stated 65 mm wood, 5 mm steel and 10 mm aluminium
  • Used in reviews for doors, cat flaps and 15 mm flooring
  • Dust blower that reviewers say clears the pencil line

Cons

  • Two screws to change the blade, and screws that drop
  • Blade will not stay in, in more than one review
  • Kit box missing in repeated reviews, and not in the included list
  • Weight and a lithium-ion line conflict with the corded bullets

Best for: Thin sheet and small timber beside a socket, if a screwdriver for the blade is acceptable.

Less suitable: Frequent blade changes, a stated depth past 65 mm, or a buyer who needs the listing fields to agree.

Common questions

Does the KS501-GB listing say the blade change is tool-free?

No. The bullets name U-shank and T-shank compatibility and tell you to fasten the blade before use. Reviews describe undoing two screws. The 520 W KS701EK listing is the one that says tool-free.

Is a kit box included?

The included-components field says 1 x KS501-GB. The extracted bullets do not list a box. Several UK reviews say a kit box was shown on the page and was missing.

What cut depths are in the bullets?

65 mm in wood, 5 mm in steel and 10 mm in aluminium. The weight bullets say 1.3 kg and the item-weight field says 1.7 kg.

DEKOPRO 800 W corded jigsaw

Rank 9

DEKOPRO 800 W corded jigsaw

∼£36

Our view

The 800 W DEKOPRO, at £35.99, is the corded saw reviewers put on floorboards, decking and general DIY, with speed from 800 to 3,000 SPM and four orbital settings. The bullets state 100 mm in wood, 6 mm in steel and a 22 mm stroke, plus an LED, a laser, a tool-free clamp and ten blades. Reviews that test the laser say it is not parallel to the blade, so the cut wanders if you follow it, and one review says the saw veers on a worktop. Cooling air is blown into the face, especially for a right-handed user, and there is no case. In the first 50 UK reviews, one saw would not lock a blade safely, one lost speed control after three uses and then ran only flat out, and one arrived with a damaged plug and went back. The best-seller rank and the 27 × 22 × 9 cm size match the 400 W DEKOPRO, so those two fields are not a checked difference. Use the 100 mm figure and a tug-test, and do not steer by the laser.

Pros

  • Stated 100 mm wood cut, 22 mm stroke and four orbital settings
  • 4.4 from 276 reviews
  • Tool-free clamp and ten blades listed
  • Variable speed used on floorboards and decking

Cons

  • Laser not parallel to the blade
  • Cooling air or dust blown into the face
  • No case in the kit list
  • Damaged plug, a lock that would not hold, and a failed speed control in individual reviews

Best for: Deeper DIY timber beside a socket, if you cut to a pencil line and tug-test the clamp.

Less suitable: Anyone who would follow the laser, or who needs a case named in the kit list.

Common questions

What does the DEKOPRO 800 W listing say it can cut?

The bullets say plastic, wood and steel, with a maximum of 100 mm in wood and 6 mm in steel. That is a listing claim, not a cut we measured.

Does this listing include a carry case?

No. The kit list is the saw, 10 blades, a parallel guide, an Allen wrench and a manual. Reviews mention the lack of a box or bag.

Is the laser described as aligned with the blade?

The listing lists an LED and a laser. It does not claim the laser sits parallel to the blade. Several UK reviews say the line is off, so the cut wanders if you follow the laser.

The Enventor WD40280DJ is an 800 W corded jigsaw at £36.99, and DIY reviews use it on laminate and board, with an LED on a dim pencil line. The bullets state 110 mm in wood, 10 mm in metal, six speeds up to 3,350 SPM, orbital positions 0–3, and bevel stops at 0°, ±15°, ±30° and ±45°. A storage box is in the package bullet, and reviewers describe a hard case with metal latches, though one case arrived cracked and the included-components field names only the saw. Ten blades are listed with tooth counts, from 6T to 10T on the wood blades and 21T on two metal blades. The blade seats more easily with orbital on 3, and reviews say it will not go in on 0. One saw was returned because the blades would not stay in, and one base was not at 0° out of the box, so the first cut was already bevelled. A 39 mm dust port fitted one reviewer’s shop vacuum. It is a cased 110 mm option only if you set that orbit knob before you fit the blade.

Pros

  • Stated 110 mm wood and 10 mm metal
  • Hard case described in reviews, and a storage box in the bullets
  • Tooth counts printed, including 21T metal blades
  • 39 mm dust port that fitted one shop vacuum
  • LED rather than a laser

Cons

  • Blade fitting depends on orbital position 3
  • Blades that would not stay in, on a returned saw
  • Shoe not at 0° in one review, and a cracked case in another
  • 4.2 from 38 reviews, a thinner file than the Bosch or the HYCHIKA

Best for: Laminate and board beside a socket when you want a case and a dust port, and you will set the orbit knob before fitting the blade.

Less suitable: A first-time user who will not check the orbital knob, or anyone who wants a review file in the hundreds.

Common questions

Does the Enventor listing include a case?

The package-contents bullet lists a storage box. The included-components field names only the 800 W jigsaw. Reviews describe a hard plastic case, and one says that case arrived cracked.

How do the bullets say you should fit a blade?

Flip a metal lever. They also say insertion takes more force when orbital is on 0, and is easier on 3. Reviews repeat that the swing knob must be on 3 or the blade will not seat.

Is a laser listed?

No. The sight aid in the bullets is an LED, plus a dust blower and a 39 mm vacuum port.

Mekturm cordless jigsaw, battery extra

Rank 11

Mekturm cordless jigsaw, battery extra

∼£35

Our view

The Mekturm QXJ-01 is listed at £34.99 as a cordless body, and the bullets say the 18 V or 20 V battery is not included. They also state 200 W, a 135 mm wood cut, 10 mm in steel, a 0–45° bevel, three track settings and five blades. The speed line says 16,500 RPM and does not say whether that is blade strokes, so do not read it as strokes per minute. Of three UK reviews, one says an 18 V pack the reviewer already owned fitted, and compares the price with a DeWalt-coloured tool. The bullets do not name DeWalt. Another says the battery, charger and case would have been about £10 more. The third says the saw smoked on the second use and did not finish the cut, and no second review confirms that. With 3.0 from eight reviews, £34.99 is the price of a body, not of a saw you can run on the day it arrives.

Pros

  • Shelf price of £34.99 for the body alone
  • Stated 135 mm wood and 10 mm steel, as listing claims
  • Three track settings and a 0–45° bevel in the bullets
  • One reviewer says an 18 V pack they already owned fitted

Cons

  • Battery, charger and case are not included
  • 3.0 from eight reviews, and only three texts
  • Smoked on the second use in one of those three
  • 16,500 RPM is not identified as a stroke rate

Best for: Someone who already accepts an unnamed 18 V or 20 V interface and will treat the depth figures as unverified claims.

Less suitable: Anyone who read £34.99 as a battery kit, or who wants a saw with more than three written UK reviews.

Common questions

Does the Mekturm price include a battery?

No. The bullets say it is designed for 18 V/20 V platforms and that the battery is not included. A review says another £10 would have bought a battery, a charger and a case.

Does the listing name a battery brand?

No. It says 18 V/20 V platforms. A review says it takes an 18 V battery in the manner of DeWalt. That brand fit is not in the bullets.

What failed in the reviews?

One of the three UK reviews says the saw smoked on the second use and did not finish the cut. The other two talk about the missing battery and about value against a dearer brand.

How we compared

Scores use amazon.co.uk listings captured on 15 October 2026. Each saw gets an editorial score from 0 to 100: stars up to 35, review volume up to 25, the printed listing up to 20, UK fit up to 10, and price up to 10. Repeated faults are deductions, not a sixth weight. The score is not the star rating times 20. A 5.0 from 17 reviews does not outrank a 4.7 from 5,673. There was no cutting test and no laboratory score.

1

Stars

35%

Amazon.co.uk stars divided by 5, multiplied by 35, and rounded half up. The star line is not turned into the whole score.

2

Review volume

25%

Points follow the listing count: 25 at 5,000 reviews or more, down to 2 when the file has 1 to 19 reviews.

3

Listing

20%

Points only for fields the listing prints: a stated wood depth, named orbit, tool-free or SDS blade change, a bevel range, and a blower, port or adapter. A 90° angle field scores 0. Screws in the reviews score 0 on blade change.

4

UK fit

10%

A printed voltage, or a battery line that is clear and not contradicted, a case named on the listing, and no repeated damaged-plug or bent-pin theme.

5

Price

10%

Shelf price in GBP against a stated depth and the size of the review file. A cordless kit with a pack named in the highlight scores above a body sold with the battery extra.

Jigsaw buying guide

Most of this set is a corded DIY jigsaw you use beside a socket. The decision is the stated wood depth, whether the blade stays in the clamp, and faults that show up more than once in the amazon.co.uk reviews. Watts are not the depth. A laser on the listing is not a line you should follow. Prices below are shelf prices from the raw listings, not a live re-check on 15 October 2026.

What is a jigsaw?

A jigsaw is a hand-held power saw. A short, narrow blade reciprocates through a shoe, so the cut can turn. You use it for curves, internal cut-outs and short trims in wood, plastic and thin metal.

Best for

  • Occasional home cuts beside a socket, such as a door, a shelf or a few laminate boards
  • A WORX owner cutting away from a lead, after a tug-test on the blade

Not ideal for

  • Structural timber, hidden cables or pipes, or a costly worktop you have not cut before
  • Anyone who would follow a laser that reviews say misses the blade

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Following a laser that misses the blade

The DEKOPRO 800 W, the DESOON and the HYCHIKA list a laser. Reviews say the line misses the blade, so the cut wanders if you follow it. Cut to a pencil line.

  2. 2

Leaving orbit on for a tight curve or for metal

Numbered orbit speeds a rough wood cut. Tight curves want orbit low or off. Electrical Safety First also puts orbit off for metal and plastic. The Bosch listing does not state orbit at all.

  3. 3

Reading the Mekturm price as a kit

The bullets say the 18 V or 20 V battery is not included. £34.99 is the body. A review says a battery, charger and case would have been about £10 more. The bullets do not name a battery brand.

What to weigh up

Stated wood depth

High

Watts are not the depth. In this set the DEKOPRO 400 W states 55 mm in wood, the BLACK+DECKER KS501-GB states 65 mm, the Bosch PST 700 E states 70 mm, and the WORX WX543.2 states 80 mm. The 800 W corded saws state 100 mm on the DEKOPRO and the DESOON, and 110 mm on the HYCHIKA and the Enventor. The Mekturm claims 135 mm, and that figure is a listing claim on a body with eight reviews, one of which says the saw smoked. The KS701EK-GB and the WX550.4 state no wood depth.

Blade lock, orbit and the shoe

High

Tug-test a tool-free or SDS clamp with the plug out or the battery off. The Bosch uses SDS, and two of the reviews read say the holder jammed on a later change. The HYCHIKA quick release is praised against older screw clamps. The KS501-GB reviews describe two screws that are easy to drop, and more than one review says the blade will not stay in. The DEKOPRO 400 W had a return whose blade released at switch-on.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Occasional cuts beside a socket

A door, a shelf, a cat flap or a few laminate boards, with a mains socket nearby. The Bosch PST 700 E is the corded saw with the largest review file and a case in the title. The box holds one blade, and the cutting-angle field says 90°.

A stated depth past 100 mm

A longer kitchen or floor fit wants a stated wood depth with margin, a lock you have tug-tested, and blades bought for the material. The HYCHIKA states 110 mm in wood at about £32.19. Ignore the laser and cut to a pencil line.

WORX pack, away from a socket

A WORX PowerShare owner is the audience for the WX543.2, which names a 2.0 Ah pack in the highlight and states 80 mm in wood. Tug-test the clamp. If a reciprocating saw is also useful, the WX550.4 pivots, and it does not state a wood depth.

Common questions about jigsaws

Which jigsaw is the top pick in 2026?
The Bosch PST 700 E is the top pick for occasional cuts beside a socket. It is a 500 W, 240 V corded saw at about £44.99, with a stated 70 mm wood cut, SDS blade change and a carrying case, and 4.7 from 5,673 amazon.co.uk reviews. Orbital action is not in the bullets, the box holds one blade, and the cutting-angle field says 90°. This is not a laboratory result.
How much does a jigsaw cost?
Shelf prices in the raw amazon.co.uk listings, not a live re-check on 15 October 2026, start at £21.24 for the DEKOPRO 400 W. Mid corded DIY runs from £31.99 for the BLACK+DECKER KS501-GB to £44.99 for the Bosch PST 700 E. The Mekturm is £34.99 before a battery. WORX kits are £129.99 and £149.99. BuildWiz’s rough guide is about £24–£55 corded and £110–£220 for a bare trade body. Those trade bodies are not in this set.
What should you check before you buy a jigsaw?
Check the power supply first: a printed voltage on a corded saw, or a battery that is actually in the box. Then the stated wood depth, because watts are not the depth. Tug-test the blade lock with the plug out or the battery off. Numbered orbit helps a rough wood cut and should be low or off for a tight curve or for metal. Do not follow a listed laser. Reviews say it misses the blade.
Should you buy a corded or a cordless jigsaw?
Corded saws in this set are both DEKOPRO models, the DESOON, the HYCHIKA, the Enventor, both BLACK+DECKER models and the Bosch PST 700 E. They need a socket. The WORX WX543.2 is a 20 V kit with a 2.0 Ah pack named in the highlight, at about £149.99, and a stated 80 mm wood cut. The Mekturm bullets say the battery is not included, so do not read £34.99 as a kit.
Should you follow the laser on a jigsaw?
No. Lasers are listed on the DEKOPRO 800 W, the DESOON and the HYCHIKA. Reviews say the line misses the blade, so the cut wanders if you follow it. Cut to a pencil line. The Enventor and the WORX saws list an LED instead. The Bosch listing does not state a laser. A light on the pencil line is not the same fault as a laser that sits off the blade.
Can a jigsaw cut a tight curve?
A jigsaw turns because the blade is narrow and you can drop the orbit. Tight curves want orbit low or off, a shoe that is flat before you start, and a blade bought for the material, not only the starter set in the box. Very fine internal fretwork is a different machine: a scroll saw holds the work while a fine blade moves. Use a jigsaw for a door, a shelf or a short curve you steer by hand.
When should you stop or call a professional?
Stop if a saw smokes, drops its blade, or arrives with a damaged plug or a bent pin. One Mekturm review says the saw smoked on the second use. Call a professional for structural timber, hidden cables or pipes, or a costly worktop you have not cut before, and if your fingers tingle or turn white. At work, HSE’s action value is 2.5 m/s² A(8). Only the Bosch listing prints ah 10.0 m/s².

Our verdict

The Bosch PST 700 E is the top pick: the highest score, 4.7 from 5,673 reviews, a case and SDS, at about £44.99, with no stated orbit and a cutting-angle field that says 90°. The HYCHIKA is the best value at about £32.19, with a stated 110 mm wood cut and 709 reviews, if you ignore the laser. The DEKOPRO 400 W is cheaper at about £21.24 and scores 70, with a 55 mm limit and a blade that released. The other nine have no award. None of these scores is a laboratory test.
