You are comparing jigsaws on amazon.co.uk from £21.24 to £149.99, and the watts in the title will not tell you whether the blade gets through your board. You want a stated wood depth that covers the board, a clamp you can tug-test, and a case only if the title or the included line names one. If a field fights the bullets, treat that field as unknown. Depth before watts

Watts are not the depth. The 500 W Bosch PST 700 E states 70 mm in wood. The 400 W KS501-GB states 65 mm. The 800 W DEKOPRO states 100 mm, while the 400 W DEKOPRO states 55 mm. HYCHIKA and Enventor, both listed at 800 W, state 110 mm in wood and 10 mm in metal. The Mekturm claims 135 mm beside 200 W, and the battery is not included. The KS701EK and the WORX WX550.4 state no wood depth. A 70 mm line on the KS701EK is a blade length, not a capacity. If the page states no depth, you do not have one, and a deep claim still fails when the blade falls out.

Lock, orbit and bevel

Tug the blade with the plug out, or the battery off, before you trust a tool-free line. Bosch calls its clamp SDS, though two UK reviews say the holder later jammed. The KS501-GB reviews describe two screws, and more than one says the blade will not stay. One 400 W DEKOPRO was returned unused because the blade released at switch-on. Only the Enventor prints tooth counts, 6T to 10T on wood and 21T on two metal blades. One HYCHIKA bevel slipped after about 10 cm in plywood. Square the shoe, then follow how to use a jigsaw.

Light, dust and a case

A blower can throw dust at your face, which 800 W DEKOPRO reviews mention for a right-handed user. The Enventor’s 39 mm port fitted one shop vacuum, and the HYCHIKA includes a vacuum adapter. The 400 W DEKOPRO states none. At work, HSE wants extraction rather than a blower alone. Hardwood dust is limited to 3 mg/m³ and softwood to 5 mg/m³. Only the Bosch prints ah 10.0 m/s², about half an hour of trigger time to the action value on that declared figure. Pay for a case only when the title, the bullets or the item type name one. A listed laser is not a line to follow. Cut to the pencil line.

Fields that cannot all be true

Both DEKOPRO listings share a best-seller line and the same 27 × 22 × 9 cm size, so use the depth, not the rank. Both BLACK+DECKER pages say a lithium-ion battery is required on a corded saw. Trust the corded line. The DESOON weight field says 1.04 kg and reviews call it heavy. The WX543.2 wattage field prints 543.2 W, which is the model number. The Mekturm prints 16,500 RPM without calling it strokes per minute. A fused UK 3-pin plug is the Electrical Safety First check, and a bent pin goes back. Whether the price includes a battery is corded versus cordless. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Common questions

What wood depth should the listing state for a worktop?
A worktop around 40 mm needs a stated depth with margin. The Bosch states 70 mm, and the 800 W corded saws state 100 mm or 110 mm. The 400 W DEKOPRO states 55 mm, which does not clear that board comfortably. The KS701EK and the WX550.4 state no wood depth. The figure is a listing claim, not a cut this site measured.
Does orbital action matter on the first saw?
It matters when you want a faster rough cut in wood, and when you need to turn it down. Electrical Safety First says to switch it off for metal and plastic. HYCHIKA, Enventor, the 800 W DEKOPRO, the DESOON and the WX543.2 name a control. The Bosch, both BLACK+DECKER saws and the 400 W DEKOPRO do not. If the bullets are silent, do not assume the dial exists.
Should I pay for a laser?
Not as a reason to choose the saw. The 800 W DEKOPRO, the DESOON and the HYCHIKA list one. DEKOPRO reviews say the line misses the blade, and a HYCHIKA review says the beam stops about 4 cm short. Following it walks the cut off the pencil mark. Mark the line, and spend the difference on a blade for the material.
Which listings actually include a case?
The Bosch title includes a case and one blade. The Enventor bullet names a storage box, the included field does not, and one case arrived cracked. The KS701EK item type says kit box. The KS501-GB list is the saw alone, and reviews say an advertised box was missing. The DEKOPRO pair, the HYCHIKA and the DESOON do not list a case. A review mention is not a case in the box.
What plug should I see in the box?
Electrical Safety First wants a UK 3-pin plug and fuse on the saw or the charger. UK mains are nominally 230 V. These listings print 220 V on the DEKOPRO saws and the DESOON, 230 V on the HYCHIKA, and 240 V on the Bosch. A bent DESOON pin and a damaged DEKOPRO 800 W plug are return reasons. Do not bend a pin straight and carry on.
