Puma safety shoes comparison 2026

The best Puma safety shoes, compared.

Top pick: PUMA Safety Conquest CTX High EH WP – Highest score in the set: 4.6 from 597 reviews, WP in the title, and UK reviews describing dry feet. The title still prints no S-code. Best value: PUMA Safety Rio Black Mid S3 SRC – Lowest price at about £68.08, and the only title that prints S3, SRC, an aluminium toe cap, and anti-puncture. Updated October 2026.

Puma safety shoes, sold as PUMA SAFETY since 2002, are work shoes and boots with a protective toe cap under EN ISO 20345, not ordinary Puma trainers. You buy them in the UK when a risk assessment or a site rule requires foot protection. Where that duty applies, your employer must provide suitable PPE free of charge. Tell a listing by the words in its title: S3 or S3L on the Rio files, EH and WP on the CTX Conquest, and no class on the wellington-titled files. The letters are set out in [what S3 and S1P mean](/hub/occupational-safety/puma-safety-shoes/sub/puma-safety-shoes-s3-or-s1p). It is the wrong card when the assessment says S3. Several Airtwist and Rio buyers say the last runs long. The review texts on the Frontside file are from France and Germany, so that star line is not a British wear sample. Read the title you are buying, not a brand page, for the code. Those lines are not the raw titles of the cards here. EH, WP, and the word wellington are not an EN ISO 20345 class, and wellington is not a Class II rubber boot.

Puma safety shoes, sold as PUMA SAFETY since 2002, are work shoes and boots with a protective toe cap under EN ISO 20345, not ordinary Puma trainers.

The best Puma safety shoes in detail

PUMA Safety Conquest CTX High EH WP

Rank 1

PUMA Safety Conquest CTX High EH WP

∼£83

Our view

The PUMA Safety Conquest CTX High EH WP is a high men's boot at £82.99, with 4.6 from 597 reviews, the highest score in this set, and a rank of 462 in Men's Work & Utility Footwear. It is the top pick here when you want a high boot whose title prints WP, and UK reviews describe dry feet in rain, including a quarry worker and an eight-hour shift. UK reviews also mention a side zip that the title does not name. Break-in of about two weeks, and heat in warm weather, come up often. Fit notes disagree: too big, undersized, or wide, depending on the reviewer. The title prints EH and WP, not an S-code, so it is the wrong card when the assessment says S3. One UK review says the toe cap is metal-free and that small metal parts can still trigger a detector.

Pros

  • Highest score in this set, from 4.6 and 597 reviews
  • Title prints WP, and rain reviews describe dry feet
  • Side zip in UK reviews for taking them on and off
  • High shaft for ankle cover on outdoor work

Cons

  • Title prints no S-code
  • Fit disagrees: too big, undersized, or wide
  • About two weeks of break-in, and heat in warm weather
  • A metal-free toe in one review can still include small metal parts

Best for: You want a high boot for rain, and the workplace has not required an S-code on the title.

Less suitable: The assessment names S3 or SRC, or you need the reviews to agree on one UK size.

Common questions

Are they waterproof?

The title includes WP. Reviews describe dry feet in rain, including a quarry worker and an eight-hour shift. EH and WP are not an EN ISO 20345 class.

Is there a zip?

UK reviews mention a side zip that makes them easy to take on and off. The title does not say zip.

Do they have a metal toe cap?

The title does not say. One UK review says the toe cap is metal-free and that small metal parts can still trigger a detector.

PUMA Airtwist Black Low

Rank 2

PUMA Airtwist Black Low

∼£94

Our view

The PUMA Airtwist Black Low is a low men's trainer at £93.95, with 4.3 from 1,845 amazon.co.uk reviews and a rank of 283 in Men's Work & Utility Footwear. UK reviews describe a light shoe on 12-hour and warehouse shifts, and one long-hours note calls the grip reliable, though the title prints no slip mark. Several UK buyers say the last runs long: about half a size big, or a UK 9 fitting like a 10. One review also reports little arch support after a nine-hour day. The title does not print S3, S1P, ESD, a toe type, or a water claim. One review mentions an ESD workplace test and another calls them S3, but neither code is in the title or the details block. A suede upper is named in a review, not in the title, so wet or abrasive ground is not a claim this listing makes.

Pros

  • Light feel in UK reviews, including 12-hour and warehouse shifts
  • 4.3 from 1,845 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • One long-hours review describes the grip as reliable
  • Low trainer shape for indoor walking

Cons

  • Title prints no safety class, toe type, or slip mark
  • Several UK reviews say the last runs long
  • Little arch support after a nine-hour day in one review
  • Suede is named in a review, not in the title

Best for: You want a low trainer for dry indoor warehouse miles, and the workplace has not asked for a printed class.

Less suitable: You need S3, S1P, or a slip mark on the title, or you already find a long last hard to size.

Common questions

Does the title state a safety class?

No. The title is PUMA Airtwist Black Low, Men's Trainers. It does not print S3, S1P, or ESD. One review mentions an ESD workplace test and one review calls them S3. Neither code is in the title or the details block. The brand site calls the current Airtwist S3S ESD. That catalogue line is not this title.

Are they slip-resistant?

The listing questions ask about grip and slip resistance. The title does not state a slip mark. One long-hours review describes the grip as reliable.

How do they fit?

Several UK reviews say they run long: about half a size big, a UK 9 fitting like a 10, or slightly on the large side. One review also reports little arch support after a nine-hour day.

PUMA Safety Rio MID S3L

Rank 3

PUMA Safety Rio MID S3L

∼£76

Our view

The PUMA Safety Rio MID S3L is listed at £75.91, with 4.3 from 292 reviews, and it shares model number 23091-37916 with the cheaper Rio S3 SRC card. The title prints S3L and does not say steel, SRC, or waterproof. UK site reviews include repeat buys after about two years. Reviews also say the last runs long: one buyer who usually takes a UK 9 bought an 8 and still found them loose. A high collar rubbed the shin unless the socks were long and thick, and a heel blister from little padding at the back comes up in the first days. Lacing eyelets snapped in reviews. You pay more than the £68.08 twin for a shorter class string and a smaller review sample. S3L here is the non-metal insert mark, not a lacing style.

Pros

  • Title prints S3L at £75.91
  • 4.3 from 292 reviews, including repeat buys after about two years
  • Same model number as the Rio S3 SRC listing
  • Mid shaft for site walking

Cons

  • Title does not say steel, SRC, or waterproof
  • Runs long; a usual UK 9 in an 8 still felt loose
  • Eyelets snapped, and a high collar rubbed without thick socks
  • Higher price than the Rio title that prints S3 and SRC

Best for: You specifically need S3L on the title, and you will size down and wear long thick socks.

Less suitable: You need SRC or an aluminium toe named in the title, which the cheaper Rio card already states.

Common questions

Does the title say steel toe or SRC?

No. It prints S3L and does not say steel or SRC. S3L is the non-metal insert tested with a 4.5 mm nail, not a lacing style. The listing questions ask about a steel toe and slip resistance and are unanswered in the details block.

How do they fit?

Reviews say they run long or big. One buyer who usually takes a UK 9 bought an 8 and still found them loose. A high collar rubbed the shin unless the socks were long and thick.

What fails in the reviews?

Lacing eyelets snapped, and a heel blister from little padding at the back comes up in the first days.

PUMA Safety Rio Black Mid S3 SRC

Rank 4

PUMA Safety Rio Black Mid S3 SRC

∼£68

Our view

The PUMA Safety Rio Black Mid S3 SRC is the lowest price in this set at £68.08, with 4.2 from 694 reviews and a rank of 212 in Men's Work & Utility Footwear. It is the only kept title that prints S3, SRC, an aluminium toe cap, and anti-puncture together, which is why it is the best value when the workplace needs those words on the listing. UK reviews include repeat buys and all-day site wear. The same notes record toe-cap splits, a thin sole, and laces that loosen or catches that break. Some buyers would go a size down. The title does not say waterproof, and one US review says the shoes were not. The toe is aluminium, not steel, so a detector or a steel-only rule is a separate check.

Pros

  • £68.08, the lowest price in this set
  • Title prints S3, SRC, an aluminium toe cap, and anti-puncture
  • 4.2 from 694 reviews, including repeat buys and all-day site wear
  • Mid shaft for site days that are not deep water

Cons

  • Toe-cap splits and a thin sole come up in reviews
  • Laces loosen or lace catches break
  • Some buyers would go a size down
  • Title does not say waterproof

Best for: You need S3 and SRC printed on the title for site days, and you can try a size down before the shift.

Less suitable: You need a steel toe, a waterproof claim in the title, or a high boot for standing water.

Common questions

Does it have a steel toe?

The title says an aluminium toe cap, not steel. The listing question about a steel toe is not answered in the details block.

Is it slip-resistant?

The title includes SRC. From the 2022 edition, SRC is no longer the mark to demand, and older stock may still show it. The listing also asks whether the shoe is slip-resistant and does not add a separate answer.

Is it waterproof?

The title does not say waterproof. One US review says they were not waterproof.

PUMA Conquest Blk Ctx High, 168 reviews

Rank 5

PUMA Conquest Blk Ctx High, 168 reviews

∼£89

Our view

The PUMA Conquest Blk Ctx High at £88.99 is titled as wellington boots, with 4.1 from 168 reviews and a rank of 311 in Men's Work & Utility Footwear. The title does not print an S-code or WP. UK reviews praise a side zip and a light, flexible feel, and they describe the boots as waterproof even though the title does not. Velcro, the heel lining, and sizing are the repeated faults, and the printed size is disputed both ways. The listing dimensions of 1 x 1 x 1 cm are not a usable shoe size. It shares model number 27285-46457 with the shorter-review listing at the same price. One UK review added an extra insole; the file does not say the original insole comes out. Wellington in the title is not a Class II rubber boot.

Pros

  • Side zip and a light, flexible feel in UK reviews
  • UK reviews describe them as waterproof
  • 4.1 from 168 reviews
  • Same model number as the other £88.99 Conquest card

Cons

  • Title prints no S-code and no WP
  • Wellington in the title is not a rubber-boot claim in the details
  • Velcro, heel lining, and sizing are repeated faults
  • The 1 cm listing dimensions are not a real size

Best for: You already accept a high boot with no class on the title, and you will check the pair you receive.

Less suitable: You need WP or S3 printed on the title, or you want the larger UK review set on the CTX listing.

Common questions

Are these boots waterproof?

The title does not say waterproof or WP. UK reviews describe them as waterproof. The listing question is not answered in the details block. Wellington in the title is not a Class II rubber boot.

Do they have good traction?

The listing asks about traction. The title does not state a slip mark, and the reviews do not give a measured grip result.

Can the insole be removed?

The listing asks this and does not answer it. One UK review added an extra insole. The saved listing does not say the original insole comes out.

PUMA Safety Frontside Low

Rank 6

PUMA Safety Frontside Low

∼£92

Our view

The PUMA Safety Frontside Low is a low men's safety shoe at £91.76, titled as size 9.5 in Blue, with 4.1 from 60 reviews and a rank of 2,501 in Men's Work & Utility Footwear. The title states no safety class. Review texts in this file are from France and Germany, not the UK, so the 4.1 is not a British wear sample. Several of those reviews call them comfortable over long shifts. One German review reports pain under the rear of the sole and hot feet. The clearest defect is a tongue that came unglued within five days. Fit comments disagree: one German review would order a size up, and another calls the size perfect. At this price you are close to the Airtwist, which has 1,845 reviews on amazon.co.uk and still no class on the title.

Pros

  • Low safety-shoe shape, titled as Blue in size 9.5
  • Several non-UK reviews mention comfort over long shifts
  • Model number CHA10935 is on the listing

Cons

  • No safety class on the title
  • Review texts in this file are not from the UK
  • A tongue came unglued within five days in one report
  • £91.76 for one stated size and colour, ranked 2,501

Best for: You want this exact Blue 9.5 listing, and you can return it if the tongue or the fit fails in the first week.

Less suitable: You need a UK review sample, a size range, or a printed class before you order.

Common questions

Are these trainers comfortable?

What colours are available?

PUMA Conquest Blk Ctx High, 48 reviews

Rank 7

PUMA Conquest Blk Ctx High, 48 reviews

∼£89

Our view

This second PUMA Conquest Blk Ctx High is also £88.99 and model number 27285-46457, with a shorter file of 4.1 from 48 reviews and a rank of 566 in Men's Boots. The title does not print an S-code. One UK review calls them comfortable, waterproof, and well made. A UK 10 was much too large for a buyer who usually takes 9.5. A side zip appears in French and German reviews, not as a line in the title. The listing asks about mud and slip resistance and does not answer either. You are looking at the same model number as the 168-review card, with far less UK text to judge fit or water.

Pros

  • Same model number and £88.99 price as the 168-review Conquest card
  • One UK review calls them waterproof and well made
  • High shaft in the title

Cons

  • Only 48 reviews, with 13 texts in the file
  • Title prints no S-code and no WP
  • A UK 10 was far too large for a usual 9.5
  • Mud and slip questions are unanswered

Best for: You are comparing this ASIN with the twin listing, and you will not treat 48 reviews as a large UK sample.

Less suitable: You need a printed class, a WP line, or enough UK fit notes to order a size with confidence.

How we compared

Seven Puma safety shoe listings on amazon.co.uk were scored from the titles, detail blocks, and review notes in the display file, not from a wear test or a lab certificate check. The weights are stated safety class 18, shaft 12, toe cap stated 10, puncture stated 10, water claim 12, slip mark stated 8, closure in reviews 8, fit in reviews 12, and price 10. Each star line stays the amazon.co.uk figure. The 0–100 score is not an EN ISO 20345 result. Figures were taken from the display file on 21 October 2026.

1

Stated safety class

18%

The code on the amazon.co.uk title is the first check, because several kept listings omit S3 or S3L even when a brand page names a class. Only the two Rio titles print S3 or S3L.

2

Shaft

12%

A low trainer suits dry indoor miles. A mid or high boot is the shape when the ground is wet or the ankle needs cover. This set has two low shoes, two Rio mids, and three high Conquest boots.

3

Toe cap stated

10%

Aluminium is named only on the Rio S3 title. The other files leave the toe type off the title, so a steel-only rule or a detector policy is a separate check.

4

Puncture stated

10%

Anti-puncture is named on the Rio S3 title. S3L on the other Rio title is the non-metal insert mark, not a lacing style, and that title does not repeat the words anti-puncture.

5

Water claim

12%

WP on the CTX title is a water claim, not an S-code. The Rio titles do not say waterproof. A review note of dry feet is not the same as a class printed on the shoe.

6

Slip mark stated

8%

SRC appears on the cheaper Rio title. From the 2022 edition, basic slip resistance is mandatory and SRC is no longer the mark to demand. SR is the extra test. Older stock may still show SRC.

7

Closure in reviews

8%

Laces that loosen, eyelets that snap, and a side zip that reviews name when the title does not, all change how you get the boot on for a shift.

8

Fit in reviews

12%

Several Airtwist and Rio buyers say the last runs long. One Conquest note describes almost an inch spare and pedals that felt unsafe. Frontside fit texts in this file are not from the UK.

9

Price

10%

Shelf figures in this set run from about £68.08 to £93.95. Price counts only after the printed code matches the job. A cheaper non-Puma trainer is a different product and stays off this shortlist.

Puma safety shoe buying guide

Start with the code the workplace wrote down, then the height and the water claim, then the toe and midsole lines the title actually prints, then UK fit, and only then the price. The notes below follow that order for these seven listings. None of the scores is a laboratory test.

What are Puma safety shoes?

Puma safety shoes, sold as PUMA SAFETY since 2002, are work shoes and boots with a protective toe cap under EN ISO 20345. They are not ordinary Puma trainers. You compare them when a risk assessment or a site rule asks for foot protection, or when a trainer shape is what you want and you still need to see whether the amazon.co.uk title prints a class. Seven listings stay in this set. Display prices run from about £68.08 to £93.95.

Best for

  • Dry indoor miles when the workplace has not required a class on the title
  • Site days when the title must print S3, SRC, and an aluminium toe
  • Rain when a high boot with WP printed on the title is enough

Not ideal for

  • An S3 or steel-toe rule when the title you are buying omits it
  • Chainsaw, foundry, chemical, or electrical specialist footwear
  • Anyone who reads wellington, EH, or WP as an EN ISO 20345 class

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Treating a brand page as the listing

The brand site can name S3S ESD or S7S for a line while the amazon.co.uk title prints nothing, or only EH and WP. Buy the words on the title, then check the tongue label of the pair you receive.

  2. 2

Reading S3L as a lacing style

S3L is the non-metal insert tested with a 4.5 mm nail. It is not a note about laces. The Rio S3L title also omits steel, SRC, and waterproof.

  3. 3

Sizing up a last that already runs long

Several Airtwist and Rio buyers say the shoe runs long, including a usual UK 9 that still felt loose in an 8. One Conquest buyer had almost an inch spare and found the pedals unsafe.

What to weigh up

Printed class, shaft and water claim

High

Match the code on the title to the assessment before you match the price. Only the Rio S3 title prints S3, SRC, an aluminium toe, and anti-puncture. The Rio S3L title prints S3L and shares model number 23091-37916 with that cheaper card. The CTX title prints EH and WP, which is a water claim and not an S-code. The Airtwist, Frontside, and wellington-titled Conquest files print no class. A low shaft suits dry indoor miles. A mid or high shaft is the shape when the ankle needs cover.

UK fit and price after the code matches

High

Inside this set the shelves run from about £68.08 for the Rio S3 to about £93.95 for the Airtwist. Pay the higher figure only when the title already matches the job. Several UK reviews say the Airtwist and Rio lasts run long, so try a size down rather than up. CTX fit notes disagree: too big, undersized, or wide. The 48-review Conquest file has one UK note that a UK 10 was far too large for a usual 9.5. Frontside fit comments in this file are from Germany, not the UK.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Dry indoor warehouse miles

You want a low trainer for long indoor shifts, and the workplace has not asked for a class on the title. The Airtwist Black Low is about £93.95, with 4.3 from 1,845 reviews. Several UK buyers say the last runs long. The title prints no S3, S1P, or slip mark.

Site days with a printed code

You need S3 and SRC on the title, and you can try a size down before the shift. The Rio Black Mid is about £68.08 and names an aluminium toe and anti-puncture. Reviews include repeat buys, and also toe-cap splits and laces that loosen.

Rain and a high boot

You want a high boot for rain, and the assessment has not required an S-code on the title. The Conquest CTX High is about £82.99, with WP in the title and 4.6 from 597 reviews. UK reviews describe dry feet. Fit notes do not agree on one size.

Common questions about Puma safety shoes

Which Puma safety shoe is the top pick in this set?
The top pick is the PUMA Safety Conquest CTX High EH WP at about £82.99 on amazon.co.uk. It has the highest score in this set, from 4.6 and 597 reviews, and the title prints WP. UK reviews describe dry feet in rain, including a quarry worker and an eight-hour shift, and they mention a side zip the title does not name. The title prints EH and WP, not an S-code, so it is the wrong card when the assessment says S3. Fit notes disagree. The score is from listing facts, not a wear test.
Which listing is the best value?
The best value is the PUMA Safety Rio Black Mid S3 SRC at about £68.08, the lowest price in this set, with 4.2 from 694 reviews. It is the only kept title that prints S3, SRC, an aluminium toe cap, and anti-puncture together. UK reviews include repeat buys and all-day site wear, and also toe-cap splits, a thin sole, and laces that loosen or catches that break. The toe is aluminium, not steel. The title does not say waterproof. Choose it when those printed words match the job.
How much do Puma safety shoes cost on amazon.co.uk in this comparison?
In these seven amazon.co.uk listings the display prices run from about £68.08 to £93.95. That is this set, not a market average, and not a live basket. The Rio cards are about £68.08 and £75.91. The Conquest CTX is about £82.99, and two further Conquest listings are about £88.99. Frontside is about £91.76 and the Airtwist is about £93.95. The same month, idealo showed an Airtwist Low S3 from £81.99. That trade figure is not the shelf price of ASIN B08CZVC27Y.
What should you check before you buy Puma safety shoes?
Start with the code your workplace wrote down, then read it on the tongue label of the pair you receive, not only on a brand page. Use a low trainer for dry indoor work and a mid or high boot when the ground is wet or the ankle needs cover. Aluminium and anti-puncture are named together only on the Rio S3 title. Several Airtwist and Rio buyers say the last runs long, so do not size up out of habit. Stars are not a certificate. A title with no standard is not proof that the shoe is PPE.
What do S3 and S3L mean on these shoes?
EN ISO 20345 safety footwear has a 200 J toe cap. S1 adds a closed heel, antistatic properties, and heel energy absorption. S1P adds penetration resistance. S3 adds water resistance of the upper, penetration resistance, and a cleated outsole. S3L is the non-metal insert tested with a 4.5 mm nail, not a lacing style. From the 2022 edition, basic slip resistance is mandatory and SRC is no longer the mark to demand. SR is the extra test. Older stock may still show SRC. Only the two Rio titles here print S3 or S3L.
Are these Puma safety shoes waterproof?
Only the Conquest CTX title prints WP. UK reviews on that listing describe dry feet in rain, including a quarry and an eight-hour shift. EH and WP are not an EN ISO 20345 class. The Rio titles do not say waterproof, and one US review on the S3 card says the shoes were not. The wellington-titled Conquest files do not print WP. UK reviews on the 168-review card describe them as waterproof, but the word wellington is not a Class II rubber boot. Check the pair you receive.
Who pays for safety shoes at work?
HSE says PPE is provided free when the risk assessment requires it, under the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992, extended to limb (b) workers in 2022. Section 9 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 stops a charge for PPE used only at work. On construction sites, footwear with a toecap and, where nails are the risk, midsole protection is expected, and the employer supplies a basic standard. The same charging question for another hazard is covered in who pays for eye protection at work.
When should you look at a different safety-shoe comparison?
Stay on this page when you want a Puma listing and can match the title to the code. Move on when the policy names S1P and the brand is not fixed, or when you need chainsaw, foundry, chemical, or electrical specialist footwear. A cheaper non-Puma trainer was removed from this shortlist because it is a different product. Compare other S1P shelves in men's S1P safety shoes. Call the employer when the policy names a code the listing omits, or when a team buy needs the declaration of conformity.

Our verdict

In this set of seven amazon.co.uk listings, the top pick is the PUMA Safety Conquest CTX High EH WP at about £82.99, with 4.6 from 597 reviews and WP in the title. UK reviews describe dry feet in rain. The title prints no S-code, so it is the wrong card when the assessment says S3. The best value is the PUMA Safety Rio Black Mid S3 SRC at about £68.08, the only title that prints S3, SRC, an aluminium toe cap, and anti-puncture together. Stars and sole complaints sit on that card too. None of these scores is a lab test, and a brand-page class is not the title.
