The best LED hats, compared.
Top pick: Wmcaps LED beanie – Highest score in the set: 4.7 from 9,721 reviews, and UK reviews say the light comes out. Lumens are not stated. Best value: TAGVO LED beanie – Same 85 as the £14.99 running Wmcaps, at about £6.96, with 4.6 from 754 reviews and a removable pod in UK reviews. Updated October 2026.
The usual product is a knitted beanie with a rechargeable pod for dog walks and short outdoor jobs when both hands are full. A second group is party wear: a colour-changing cap or bucket, or a baseball cap that scrolls words from a phone app. None of the eleven product-details blocks states lumens, beam distance, or an IP rating, so treat the hat as a close light until a review says otherwise. At least two UK reviews say no USB cable was in the box. The title says unisex and the department line says. No listing claims BS EN 397 or BS EN ISO 20471. What to check before you pay is in the [LED hat buying guide](/hub/occupational-safety/led-hat/sub/led-hat-buying-guide). It is not an industrial safety helmet and not high-visibility clothing. A task beam, a party glow, and a message panel are different products. Do not rank them on one brightness scale.

Question 1 of 2
What is the hat for?
Across 9,721 amazon.co.uk reviews, the Wmcaps knitted beanie at £10.99 is the task hat people actually describe: evening walks, running, and short outdoor jobs when both hands are full. The listing line is 4.7. UK reviews say the light comes out so you can charge it and wash the knit, though the page does not state a wash temperature. At least two buyers say no USB cable arrived, so you may need a lead you already own. Lumens are not stated, and the reviews treat it as a close beam rather than a searchlight. The page URL is B08GR1M47T and the details ASIN is B09VF9L96M. It is the top pick here because that review sample is far larger than the other 4.7 rows, not because a brightness figure was tested.
Pros
Cons
Best for: Evening walks and short jobs when you want the largest review sample on a task beanie whose light comes out.
Less suitable: You need a printed lumen figure, a cable guaranteed in the box, or site head protection.
Specifications
Common questions
Can you take the light out?
UK reviews say the light comes out for charging and so the hat can be washed. The listing does not state a wash cycle.
Is a USB cable in the box?
Reviews conflict. Some buyers charge by USB cable. At least two say no USB cable was in the box.
Which ASIN is on the page?
The page URL ASIN is B08GR1M47T. The product-details ASIN is B09VF9L96M. The listing line is 4.7 from 9,721.
The fleece-lined Wmcaps is £12.99, with 4.7 from 513 reviews, and the title says USB-C. UK reviews mention three settings, including a mode for being seen as well as seeing, and more than one reviewer says the battery lasts a long time. The lining is called warm, which is the reason to pay more than the £10.99 Wmcaps if you walk in a cold snap. One reviewer says the light is not really bright, though it was enough for early walks, and others say it sits below a head torch. Whether the pod unclips, and whether a cable is in the box, are not stated, so do not treat a wash as confirmed. It ranks just under the top pick because the review sample is smaller and the removable-pod fact is missing.
Pros
Cons
Best for: Cold evening walks when you want fleece named on the listing and can live without a wash instruction.
Less suitable: You need the light to come out before you wash the hat, or you need light across a loft.
Specifications
Common questions
Is it fleece lined?
The title says fleece lined. Reviews call the lining warm.
How many light settings do reviews mention?
UK reviews mention three settings, including being seen as well as seeing. The listing does not name the steps.
Does the listing say the light unclips?
Removable light is not stated. Charging is praised, and one review praises the charger. Whether a cable is in the box is not stated.
This unbranded beanie is £13.99, and the stored line is 4.7 from only eight ratings. The short UK sample describes a warm acrylic outside, a soft thermal or fleecy lining, ear coverage, and a torch that pops out to charge and to wash. Reviewers use it for dog walks, bins, and outdoor work. The title says rechargeable, while product details say one 9V battery is required and included. Those lines are not one specification, so do not buy it as a confirmed USB hat. Modes are not stated, and one line on the listing calls the functionality limited and the colours sombre. Eight ratings cannot carry the same weight as 9,721 on the Wmcaps, even though the star number matches.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A winter beanie with ear coverage if you accept eight reviews and check which battery the live page is selling.
Less suitable: Anyone who wants a large review sample or a single, consistent charge specification.
Specifications
Common questions
Which battery line is the specification?
The title says rechargeable. Product details say one 9V battery is required and included. Those lines are not reconciled. Do not merge them into one specification.
Does the torch come out?
UK reviews say the torch pops out to charge and to wash. Modes are not stated.
How strong is the review base?
4.7 from 8 ratings. Reviews describe an acrylic outside and a thermal or fleecy lining. Listing fibre and colour are not stated.
The TAGVO knitted beanie is £6.96, with 4.6 from 754 amazon.co.uk reviews, and the title claims 8 LEDs, USB charging, and flashing alarm modes. UK reviews use the hands-free light for dog walks, parcels, engines, and power cuts, and say the pod pops out to charge. One review mentions a red and blue flash as well as a white beam. Lumens are not stated, and whether a cable is in the box is not stated. The title says unisex while the department line says Women's, and one buyer's husband refused to wear it. It is the best value task beanie in this set on price against a large review sample, not a fleece winter hat and not PPE.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A low-priced close beam for walks and odd jobs if the Women's department line does not put you off.
Less suitable: You want a stated fleece lining, a cable named in the box, or a party cap.

Common questions
Does the light come out?
UK reviews say the light pops out to charge and goes back in. The title says easy install and quick release. A wash cycle is not stated.
What does the listing say the light does?
The title describes a hands-free flashlight plus flashing alarm modes, and claims 8 LEDs. Lumens are not stated. One review says it flashes red and blue.
Who is it listed for?
The title says unisex. The department line says Women's. Reviews mention black and grey. The details colour is not stated.
This Wmcaps running beanie is £14.99, with 4.6 from 220 reviews, and the title says USB-C. Product details say one lithium metal battery is required and included. UK reviews say the light pops out to recharge, can be folded over, and has more than one brightness setting, though the steps are not named on the listing. Several reviews call it enough for dark streets and dog mess. One UK reviewer put useful light at about a foot in a dark alley, which is the limit you should plan for if the route has no street lighting. A battery pack leaves a visible bulge, and a cable in the box is not stated. The score matches the cheaper TAGVO because both have a removable pod and a solid review count, not because this one throws light further.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A running or dog-walk beanie when you want USB-C named in the title and can accept a close beam.
Less suitable: An unlit alley, or anyone who wants the lowest price for a similar removable pod.
Specifications
Common questions
What battery does the listing state?
Product details say 1 lithium metal battery is required and included. The title says USB-C. A charger cable is not stated.
Does the light come out?
UK reviews say the light pops out to recharge and can be folded over so it is not visible.

Several reviews call it enough for dark streets and dog mess. One UK reviewer put useful light at about a foot in a dark alley. No lumen figure is on the listing.
The RANCOVY knitted beanie is £12.99, and the title says a unisex USB-rechargeable headlamp beanie. The stored line is 4.5 from 117 reviews. UK reviewers who liked it call the grey knit warm, soft, and stretchy, and call the light bright and light on the head for dog walks with no street lighting. One UK review says it was far too small and child-sized. Another says the light was broken when switched on and asks for a replacement. The sample mixes countries and includes a Bluetooth speaker hat that does not match this title, so only a minority of the scanned blocks are marked United Kingdom. Lumens are not stated, and removable light is not a listing fact. Do not read 117 as if it were a clean UK sample of this beanie.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A stretchy one-size knit only if you can try the fit and ignore the mixed review sample.
Less suitable: A large adult head, or anyone treating 117 reviews as all about this hat.
Specifications
Common questions
Is a brightness table published?
Lumens and a brightness table are not on the listing. The title says a USB-rechargeable headlamp beanie. Details say one nonstandard battery is included.
What do UK reviews say about fit?
One UK review calls it far too small and child-sized, with size not specified. Other reviews say stretchy and one-size comfortable. Listing colour is not stated. One UK review ordered grey.
Are all 117 reviews about this hat?

The LIOVODE cap is £25.99, model AHL001, with 4.4 from 287 reviews, and an app scrolls words on the peak. Reviews use it for concerts, festivals, birthdays, and a stag do, and one Samsung user said it paired quickly. Pixels are described as clear, and the app can store the last message. A stag-do review says other people with the app can change what the cap says, which is a feature and a nuisance. One buyer returned it because the peak was too large, and some found the app slow or limited. Details say one nonstandard battery is required and included, USB is not stated, and reviews date from 2020 while Date First Available is 5 November 2025, with page URL B0G2S44VH1, so the count may mix an older parent. It does not light a path.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A concert, birthday, or stag do when the point is scrolling text, not seeing the pavement.
Less suitable: Dog walks, close work, or anyone who needs the message to stay private.
Specifications
Common questions
Does it light a path?
No. It scrolls words from a phone app. It is not a forward task beam.
What power does the listing state?
One nonstandard battery is required and included. USB is not stated in the details. A cable is not stated.
Can other people change the message?
A stag-do review says other people with the app can change the message. Reviews also say the app stores the last message. Waterproof is asked on the listing and not answered. Reviews date from 2020 while Date First Available is 5 November 2025.
The Puersit beanie is £14.99, and the title claims four LEDs and USB charging for hiking, biking, camping, and jogging. The stored line is 4.4 from 141 reviews. One UK review mentions three settings and calls the high setting very bright, and buyers mention night bike rides, dog walking, and a mechanic. Another UK review says about one hour of light after a full charge, and one says the hat was way too big. Date first available is 13 October 2025, while the reviews shown date from 2022 to 2025 and the page URL is B0BJFDQ7BH, so treat that sample as a parent listing rather than a clean sample of this hat. Removable light is not stated. It is a possible outdoor beanie only after you read the live page, not the top pick.
Pros
Cons
Best for: Shoppers who will open the live amazon.co.uk page and check that the reviews match this hat.
Less suitable: Anyone who wants a clean review sample or a confirmed removable pod.
Specifications
Common questions
What does the title claim?
A task light for hiking, biking, camping and jogging, and 4 LEDs. Lumens are not stated. One UK review mentions three settings.
Does the listing say the light unclips?
Removable light is not stated. The title says warm. Fleece is not stated.
Do the review dates match this listing?
Date first available is 13 October 2025, but UK reviews shown date from 2022 to 2025 and the page URL is B0BJFDQ7BH. Treat them as signals from a parent listing. The line is 4.4 from 141.
The lumisonata baseball cap is £33.66, listed at 210 g in black, with 4.4 from nine reviews. The title is a party glow: seven colours, flashing, and strobe, for EDM, parties, and raves, with a lithium-ion battery included and no cable stated. One review calls the fibre-optic fabric comfortable for dancing, kids liked it, and another review mentions an adjustable strap. A different buyer returned it as too small in circumference and depth. Removable light is not stated. Nine ratings and a party job keep it well below the task beanies, and it is the wrong product if you are buying for a dog walk.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A party or rave cap when children liked the look and you can check the circumference first.
Less suitable: An adult who needs a deep cap, or anyone walking a dog in the dark.
Specifications

The lumisonata bucket hat is £36.79, with 4.3 from 29 reviews, and the title sells a rave, festival, and glow-in-the-dark look with seven colours. One review flicks through colour options, and another calls the lights bright at a dark music night. A festival review put the battery at about four or five hours, not until morning, while a different review said it lasted a whole night, so runtime is not a single figure. One review mentions a box and a storage bag. A charger in the box is not stated, and the light is not described as removable. With 29 ratings this is a party purchase, not a dog-walk beam, and it is not ranked against the task beanies.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A festival or wedding-reception glow when you want a bucket shape and accept a small review sample.
Less suitable: Pavement lighting, a wash, or anyone comparing it with a task beanie on brightness.
Specifications

How long do UK reviews say it runs?

One review mentions a box and a storage bag. A charger is not stated.
This unbranded baseball cap is £8.99, with 3.9 from 127 reviews, the weakest star line in the set. The title calls it a sports and party light, and it ranks in Novelty Baseball Caps rather than as a task beam. Some buyers liked it as a DJ or party cap, and a few children or teenagers liked it when it worked. The failure reports are specific: a button that fell off, a switch that was not attached, an LED box that snapped on both hats in one order, wires that broke, and no lights after an overnight charge. The details do not state a charge method, and removable light is not stated. Fit comments point at a child or a teenager, and adjustable is not answered. It is a novelty cap with a poor reliability record in this comparison, not a cheap substitute for a task beanie.
Pros
Cons
Best for: A low-stakes party or travel gag when you can return it if the light is dead.
Less suitable: Dog walks, close work, or anyone who needs the light to work on the first night.
Specifications

How does it charge?
The details do not state a charge method. One review says it was charged overnight, which only implies a cell.

Reports include a button that fell off, a switch not attached, an LED box that snapped on both hats in one order, wires that broke, and no lights after an overnight charge. The line is 3.9 from 127.
Eleven LED-hat listings on amazon.co.uk were scored on 20 October 2026 from the listing and the review sample, not from a wear test or a lumen measurement. The card score starts with the amazon.co.uk star line times 16, rounded to the nearest whole number, then applies the adjustments in the method: review volume, a UK review that the light comes out, a USB or USB-C title the details do not contradict, a battery-line clash, a mixed or pre-dated review sample, a pattern of dead or snapped lights, one UK review of a light that failed when switched on, and a fit return. None of the eleven product-details blocks states lumens, beam distance, or an IP rating, so the score does not reward a brightness claim that is not on the listing. The weights below scale those blocks to 100. The 0–100 score is not a PPE result.
Amazon star line
70%The start score is the amazon.co.uk star average times 16, rounded to the nearest whole number. A 4.7 starts at 75. A 3.9 starts at 62. This block is most of the card score. Each star line stays the figure on that listing.
Review volume
10%1,000 or more reviews on this hat: plus 8. 200 to 999: plus 4. 50 to 199: plus 2. Fewer than 20 reviews: minus 8. Eight reviews are not treated as the same evidence as 9,721.
Pod and charge line
12%UK reviews say the light comes out: plus 4. The title names USB or USB-C and the details line does not contradict it: plus 3. The title and the details line disagree on the battery: minus 8. A sibling-page lumen figure is not added.
Sample problems and failures
8%The review sample mixes other products or countries, or review dates pre-date Date First Available: minus 6. A pattern of dead, snapped, or broken-wire reports: minus 4. One UK review of a light that failed when switched on: minus 3. A fit return in this set: minus 2.
Start with the job, then whether the pod unclips, then the charge line, then fit, then the review base. The notes below follow that order for these eleven listings. None of the scores is a laboratory test.
An LED hat in this comparison is a consumer hat with a light built in, sold on amazon.co.uk. It is not an industrial safety helmet and not high-visibility clothing. In this October 2026 set the usual product is a knitted beanie with a rechargeable pod, used for dog walks, bins, and short outdoor jobs when both hands are full. A second group is party wear: a colour-changing cap or bucket, or a baseball cap that scrolls words from a phone app.
A 4.7 from 9,721 reviews and a 4.7 from 8 reviews are not the same evidence. A rave hat and a task beanie are different products. Do not rank them on one brightness scale when no listing states lumens.
Knit is sold as one size. This set has a too-small return on the lumisonata cap, a RANCOVY review calling the hat child-sized, and a Puersit review calling it way too big.
On the £10.99 Wmcaps at least two UK reviews say no USB cable was in the box. If the listing never says the light comes out, do not wash the hat with the pod still in.
A task beam, a party glow, and a message panel are different products. UK reviews say the light unclips on the £10.99 Wmcaps, the £14.99 running Wmcaps, the TAGVO at £6.96, and the unbranded £13.99 beanie. The fleece Wmcaps does not state a removable light. Charge is USB, USB-C, or the battery the details line names. The unbranded title says rechargeable while the details say a 9V battery is included. Those lines are not one specification.
Knit is sold as one size, which is not a centimetre measurement. The lumisonata cap has a too-small return, one RANCOVY review calls that hat child-sized, and the Puersit has a too-big return. The £10.99 Wmcaps is 4.7 from 9,721 reviews. The unbranded beanie is 4.7 from 8. RANCOVY's 4.5 from 117 mixes other countries and a Bluetooth hat. Puersit and LIOVODE review dates pre-date Date First Available, so the sample may be a parent listing.
Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.
You want a warm hat and a close beam when both hands are full. The Wmcaps knitted beanie is about £10.99, 4.7 from 9,721 reviews, and UK reviews say the light comes out. At least two UK reviews say no USB cable was in the box. Lumens are not stated.
You walk in a cold snap and want fleece on the listing. The fleece Wmcaps is about £12.99, 4.7 from 513 reviews, with USB-C in the title and three settings in UK reviews. Removable light is not stated, so a wash is not confirmed.
You want colour for a festival or a dark music night, not a dog-walk beam. The lumisonata bucket is about £36.79, 4.3 from 29 reviews, with seven colours in the title. One festival review put the battery at about 4 or 5 hours. It is not a task light.
In this set of eleven amazon.co.uk listings, the top pick is the Wmcaps knitted beanie at about £10.99, with 4.7 from 9,721 reviews and UK reviews that say the light comes out. At least two UK reviews say no USB cable was in the box, and lumens are not stated. The best value is the TAGVO beanie at about £6.96, with the same 85 score as the £14.99 running Wmcaps, 4.6 from 754 reviews, and a removable pod in UK reviews. The department line says Women's while the title says unisex. The £8.99 party cap has the lowest score, so it is not the best value. None of these scores is a lab test, a lumen ranking, or a claim that any hat is PPE.
Wmcaps LED beanie
Highest score in the set: 4.7 from 9,721 reviews, and UK reviews say the light comes out. Lumens are not stated.
TAGVO LED beanie
Same 85 as the £14.99 running Wmcaps, at about £6.96, with 4.6 from 754 reviews and a removable pod in UK reviews.
