A fly screen magnet on amazon.co.uk is either a split door curtain or a cut-to-fit window kit. You use one to leave a back door or a bedroom window open in warm weather without flies, wasps or mosquitoes, usually on uPVC you would rather not drill. Of seven, quality is a size that overlaps the frame, magnets that meet, and a mesh the listing actually describes. Flux is the only door curtain here that prints a 1 mm hole, and that line is not a 20×20 or 30×20 weave. The size rule and the price bands are in the [fly screen magnet buying guide](/hub/hedges-and-privacy-screens/fly-screen-magnet/sub/fly-screen-magnet-buying-guide). Flies, wasps and mosquitoes are the usual reason. They are polyester or nylon, with magnets in the centre, hook-and-loop on the frame, and often a weighted hem. NeatiEase is fibreglass and PVC with grey mesh. Does not state a mesh material and includes a small hatch. Magnet clips with no mesh were left out of this set.

The best fly screen magnets in detail

WENT magnetic door curtain, 110 × 220 cm

Rank 1

WENT magnetic door curtain, 110 × 220 cm

∼£12

Our view

The WENT curtain is the white nylon door screen at 110 by 220 cm, and that figure includes the edge Velcro, listed at about £11.99 with 4.6 from 10,937 amazon.co.uk reviews. Reviewers who cleaned a flat frame often describe sewn magnets that close on their own, mesh heavier than a ripped supermarket curtain, and dogs using a kitchen or caravan door. The listing does not state a hole size, so the midge question on the page is not a weave claim. Tape is the recurring limit: some UK reviews say it failed on uPVC until a timber batten or pins were added, and a hem that is too long can catch the door. One reviewer left the bottom about a centimetre short so the door still closed. In this set it is the top pick when your frame wants about that 110 by 220 cm cloth. It is the wrong width if the opening is nearer 80 cm, and a curious cat will probably push through.

Pros

  • 110 × 220 cm including the edge Velcro, the widest curtain in this set
  • 4.6 from 10,937 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • About £11.99 in this capture
  • UK reviews describe sewn magnets and dogs walking through

Cons

  • Hole size is not stated, so it is not a midge weave
  • Tape failed on some uPVC until a batten or pins were added
  • A hem that is too long can catch the door
  • A curious cat is not kept in

Best for: You have a large door whose frame wants about 110 by 220 cm of cloth, including the Velcro, and you will clean the surface before you stick it.

Less suitable: Your opening is nearer 80 cm, you need a stated hole size, or the frame is uPVC that will not hold tape without pins.

Common questions

Does this listing say it keeps midges out?

Midges are only a question on the listing. The bullets do not state a hole size, so this file does not show a midge weave.

Is the 110 × 220 cm figure the cloth or the door hole?

The listing says 110 cm by 220 cm is the full size including the edge Velcro. Measure the frame inside and outside before you order.

Can a pet use it?

UK reviews describe dogs walking through. One review says a curious cat will probably push through as well. It is not described as a pet lock.

Flux Phenom magnetic door curtain, up to 90 × 210 cm

Rank 2

Flux Phenom magnetic door curtain, up to 90 × 210 cm

∼£19

Our view

Flux Phenom lists a black polyester curtain for frames up to 90 by 210 cm at about £18.95, and the amazon.co.uk star line is 4.5 from 75,289. That count is the listing figure, not a hand tally of the 50 UK texts in the review notes. The bullets state 52 sewn magnets and 1 mm holes for gnats, mosquitoes and flies, which is the only door curtain here with both a magnet count and a hole size. UK reviews mostly describe a one-person Velcro fit and a closer centre than a cheap curtain, including dogs and a toddler pushing through without an early tear. The same texts call it narrow for broad shoulders and for a tray, and one buyer wanted about an extra inch each side. Sliding doors are a question on the page; the bullets name hinged, French and patio doors, not a sliding track. Pay the extra when you want that stated 1 mm line on a door up to 90 cm. It is not a printed 20×20 or 30×20 weave, and one review was still unsure about a strong breeze.

Pros

  • 52 sewn magnets and a stated 1 mm hole size
  • 4.5 from 75,289 on the amazon.co.uk listing line
  • Up to 90 × 210 cm, with hook-and-loop and thumbtacks in the box
  • UK reviews describe a one-person fit and pets pushing through

Cons

  • About £18.95, dearer than the other door curtains here
  • Called narrow for broad shoulders and for carrying a tray
  • 1 mm is a listing claim, not a 20×20 or 30×20 weave count
  • Sliding-door track fit is not in the bullets

Best for: Your hinged door is within 90 by 210 cm and you want the only curtain in this set that prints both a magnet count and a hole size.

Less suitable: You need a wide slider, a Highland midge certificate, or the cheapest cloth that merely overlaps a large frame.

Common questions

Does the listing say it fits a sliding door?

Sliding doors are asked in the questions. The bullets name front, back, French, hinged and patio doors, not a sliding track.

What mesh size is stated?

The listing says 1 mm holes for gnats, mosquitoes and flies. It does not print an 18×16 or 20×20 weave count.

How many magnets are listed?

52 magnets sewn into the centre seam, plus tie-backs. The listing says fitting is no-drill hook-and-loop and under 9 minutes.

SMALUCK magnetic door curtain, 80 × 200 cm

Rank 3

SMALUCK magnetic door curtain, 80 × 200 cm

∼£14

Our view

SMALUCK’s black polyester curtain is the 80 by 200 cm door screen at about £13.99, with 4.5 from 2,123 reviews and a Screen Doors rank of 2 in this capture. UK reviews often describe a few-minute hook-and-loop fit on uPVC, magnets that close after a person, dog or cat, and fewer flies and wasps with the door left open. The listing asks for about 2 inches extra width and height, and it states a bottom counterweight. One UK review says the cloth cannot be trimmed narrower. Another reports glue residue, while the listing says removal leaves no marks, so neither line is a guarantee. Full hands make the handle awkward, and the hem can fall inside and need a kick. It is the best value pick here when the door is about 80 cm wide. Skip it if you needed to cut the width or you wanted a stated hole size.

Pros

  • 80 × 200 cm, the narrower door size in this set
  • 4.5 from 2,123 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • About £13.99, with a stated bottom counterweight
  • UK reviews describe dogs and cats walking through, then the split closing

Cons

  • One UK review says it cannot be trimmed to width
  • Hole size is not stated
  • Glue residue is reported, against a mark-free listing claim
  • The hem can fall inside and the handle is awkward with full hands

Best for: You measured a door near 80 by 200 cm and want a walk-through curtain without paying for a stated 1 mm mesh.

Less suitable: The opening is wider than this cloth, you planned to cut it down, or midges are the reason you are buying.

Common questions

Can this 80 cm curtain be cut narrower?

One UK review says it cannot be trimmed to width. The listing does not say it can be cut. Measure the frame first.

How does it fix to the door?

Hook-and-loop on a clean, dry frame, with push pins mentioned for extra hold. Assembly is required.

Will the tape leave a mark?

The listing says removal leaves no marks. One UK review reports glue residue. Those two lines conflict, so neither is a guarantee.

NeatiEase magnetic window kit, up to 100 × 130 cm

Rank 4

NeatiEase magnetic window kit, up to 100 × 130 cm

∼£27

Our view

NeatiEase is the adjustable window kit with a white frame and grey fibreglass mesh, maximum 100 by 130 cm, at about £26.99 with 4.3 from 4,006 reviews. The listing says about 10 minutes and calls the mesh fire-retarded, with no British Standard number in the file. Across the UK texts, insects drop once the seal is finished, the grey mesh still shows the garden, and the panel lifts off a uPVC casement. The first window often takes 20 to 60 minutes, corner clips and the last plastic strip are the slow steps, and several buyers ran out of strip before a second opening. The listing says cats and dogs stay off, while one review calls it a good fly screen and a poor pet screen. White adhesive does not match every painted wood frame. Choose it when one window is within 100 by 130 cm and you want the larger review file among these kits.

Pros

  • 4.3 from 4,006 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest window-kit file here
  • Grey fibreglass mesh you can trim below 100 × 130 cm
  • Lifts off so a casement can still open
  • UK reviews report fewer flies, moths and wasps once the seal is complete

Cons

  • First fit often takes 20 to 60 minutes, not the 10 minutes on the listing
  • Magnetic or plastic strip often covers only one window
  • No weave count, and the fire-retardant line has no standard number
  • A poor pet screen in one UK review, despite the listing line

Best for: You are screening one uPVC casement within 100 by 130 cm and you can spend the best part of an hour on the first build.

Less suitable: You expected a 10-minute job, a second window from the same kit, or a claw-proof pet barrier.

Common questions

What is the mesh made of?

The technical details say fibreglass and PVC. The listing calls the mesh fire-retarded. No British Standard number is in the saved listing.

How long does fitting take?

The listing says about 10 minutes. UK reviews more often describe 20 to 60 minutes for the first window, with corner clips and the last strip as the slow steps.

Is it a pet screen?

The listing says cats and dogs stay off. One UK review says it is a good fly screen and a poor pet screen. Do not treat it as claw-proof.

JOOFAN magnetic window kit, up to 79 × 145 cm

Rank 5

JOOFAN magnetic window kit, up to 79 × 145 cm

∼£30

Our view

JOOFAN’s kit is the tall window screen, maximum 79 by 145 cm, with a small hatch, a white frame and black mesh, at about £29.90 with 4.3 from 1,435 reviews. The hatch is there so you can open the casement or pass a pipe, and UK reviews like it when it clears the handle. The technical table does not name the mesh material, so the weave is unknown. First fits are often one to two hours, sometimes with a helper, and the strip can run out before a second window. Trickle vents and a night latch clash with the hatch in the review notes, corners are called flimsy, and one buyer mentions a smell plus glue that is hard to remove later. Several reviews bought it so a cat could not leave a bedroom window, which is a use report, not a pet-mesh specification. It suits a tall narrow casement where the hatch actually clears the ironmongery.

Pros

  • Maximum 79 × 145 cm, the tall narrow kit in this set
  • Small hatch for a handle, a pipe or a wire
  • 4.3 from 1,435 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Repeat buyers in the UK notes used it to keep cats in and insects out

Cons

  • Mesh material is not stated
  • Hatch clashes with a night latch or a trickle vent in UK reviews
  • First install often takes one to two hours
  • About £29.90, the dearest kit here, and glue can be hard to remove later

Best for: You have a tall casement inside 79 by 145 cm and the hatch lines up with the handle rather than a trickle vent.

Less suitable: The window is a wide square, you must leave it on the night latch, or you wanted a walk-through door.

Common questions

What is the small window for?

The listing says the hatch lets you open and close the casement, or pass a pipe or a wire. UK reviews say it can clash with a night latch or a trickle vent.

What is the mesh made of?

The technical table does not state a mesh material. Leave that as unknown rather than guessing.

Is it a five-minute fit?

The bullets do not give a minute count. UK reviews describe a fiddly first install, often with a video, and sometimes one to two hours.

MiLeJu magnetic window kit, up to 120 × 130 cm

Rank 6

MiLeJu magnetic window kit, up to 120 × 130 cm

∼£23

Our view

MiLeJu CXSC is a white fibreglass window kit you trim down from a maximum of 120 by 130 cm, listed at about £22.93 with 4.2 from 410 reviews. The bullets claim about 15 minutes, no drilling, and 750GS strips, with two wind clips and four corner clips in the box. UK reviews more often describe a fiddly hour, a video that helps, and magnetic strip that runs out before a second window. Two reviews say the holes are large enough for small bugs, and the listing does not print a weave count, so a midge question on the page stays unanswered. Inward-opening windows are hard if you cannot reach the outside edge, and one review says the frame fell apart once it was up. The flame-retardant line has no British Standard number in the file. It is the lower-priced window kit here when one casement sits inside 120 by 130 cm and you accept an unstated hole size.

Pros

  • Trim to a smaller window, up to 120 × 130 cm
  • About £22.93, the lowest window-kit price in this set
  • Fibreglass mesh, two wind clips and four corner clips listed
  • The panel peels back so you can open the window

Cons

  • Two UK reviews say small bugs still pass, and no hole size is printed
  • Strip often runs out before a second window
  • First fit can take about an hour, not the 15 minutes on the listing
  • One review says the frame fell apart after fitting

Best for: You have one window within 120 by 130 cm and you want a cut-to-fit panel rather than a walk-through door curtain.

Less suitable: You need a door you can walk through, a second window from the same roll, or a mesh with a stated hole size.

Common questions

Will it fit a window smaller than 120 × 130 cm?

The listing says the screen can be trimmed smaller, and that the size may vary by 1 to 3 cm. It will not cover a frame larger than that maximum.

Does the listing prove it stops midges?

Midges are a question on the page. The bullets do not give a hole size. Two UK reviews say small bugs still get through.

Is fitting described as quick?

The listing says about 15 minutes with no drilling. UK reviews often call the build fiddly and say the magnetic strip can run out before a second window.

DDGAO HM120 magnetic door curtain, 90 × 200 cm

Rank 7

DDGAO HM120 magnetic door curtain, 90 × 200 cm

∼£17

Our view

DDGAO model HM120 is a white polyester curtain at 90 by 200 cm and about £16.99, with 4.2 from 17 reviews. The listing’s allowance is hanging width at least the inner frame plus 8 cm, and length at least the inner frame plus 6 cm, and it says to flatten the cloth or allow a 2 to 3 cm error. The nine UK texts in the file include an easy fit and small flying insects kept out, and one buyer said it only just fitted the back door. One verified review says the Velcro was missing and the seller did not reply, and another curtain’s mesh ripped and was binned. The listing asks whether it can be trimmed, and the bullets do not say yes. With so few reviews, the star line is a thin sample next to curtains with thousands of ratings. Order it only if 90 by 200 cm matches that allowance and the tape is in the box.

Pros

  • 90 × 200 cm, with a printed allowance of plus 8 cm width and plus 6 cm height
  • Hands-free magnetic close on a door curtain
  • A few UK reviews call the fit true to size when the tape is present

Cons

  • 4.2 from only 17 reviews, with nine UK texts in the file
  • One verified review reports missing Velcro and no seller reply
  • A tear in use is in the review notes
  • Trimming is asked on the listing and not confirmed

Best for: You have already checked that 90 by 200 cm covers your inner frame with the listing’s extra centimetres, and you will open the box before you commit the frame.

Less suitable: You want a large review file, a stated hole size, or a curtain you can cut narrower.

Common questions

What size allowance does the listing give?

Hanging width at least the inner frame plus 8 cm, and length at least the inner frame plus 6 cm. Flatten the cloth before you stick it, or the listing says to allow a 2 to 3 cm error.

Can it be trimmed?

The listing asks the question and the bullets do not confirm a yes. Do not assume it can be cut.

Does every parcel include the tape?

The listing describes sticky tape. One UK review says the Velcro was missing and the seller did not reply. Check the box before you fit it.

How we compared

Scores use the seven amazon.co.uk listings kept in this comparison, the prices and star lines on those pages, and the review notes. They are editorial, from 0 to 100, and they are not a laboratory test, a midge test, or a mesh measurement. A star rating is not a hole size. Weights sum to 100. The highest score is the top pick. The highest price-credibility score on a different ASIN is the best value.

1

Amazon evidence

35%

Stars on the amazon.co.uk line, then a volume band. Under 100 ratings adds little. 2,000 or more adds the top of this block, which is capped at 35. Flux Phenom’s 75,289 is the listing line, not a hand count of the UK texts read. A star rating is not a mesh measurement.

2

UK listing fit

30%

Whether the page is clearly a door curtain or a window kit, whether the stated size is usable with a measuring note, and whether a hole size and a magnet count are printed. A named mesh without a hole size scores lower. A blank mesh material scores lower still. This block is floored at 0 and weighted at 30.

3

Review notes

20%

Named everyday limits in the UK review notes, the size of that file, and hard faults such as missing tape or a tear. A large file with a named limit and no defect cluster scores higher than a file under 100 reviews that includes a missing-tape report and no seller reply.

4

Price credibility

15%

The value block, weighted at 15. A large door curtain around £11–£12 with 4.6 from 2,000 or more scores the top. A narrower door around £13–£14 with 4.5 from 2,000 or more is next, on a different ASIN, and that is the best value. Dearer window kits score lower on this block even when the stars are solid.

Fly screen magnet buying guide

Choose the opening before the price. A door wants a walk-through curtain. A window wants a kit you can cut down from a stated maximum. A star line on the wrong width is not a saving.

What is a fly screen magnet?

A fly screen magnet is a split door curtain or a cut-to-fit window kit. You stick it to a frame you would rather not drill, then leave a back door or a bedroom window open in warm weather. Flies, wasps and mosquitoes are the usual reason. In this comparison the door curtains are SMALUCK, Flux Phenom, DDGAO and WENT. They are polyester or nylon, with magnets in the centre, hook-and-loop on the frame, and often a weighted hem. The window kits are NeatiEase, MiLeJu and JOOFAN.

Best for

  • Someone who has measured the frame and wants a walk-through door curtain on clean uPVC
  • Someone screening one window that sits inside a kit’s stated maximum

Not ideal for

  • A wide sliding door, a listed building, or a lease that bans marks and pins
  • A household that needs midge mesh, a pet lock, or a fire-rated screen

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Measuring the door slab

The useful number is the frame, and you need to know whether the listing’s figure is the cloth or the hole. WENT’s 110 × 220 cm includes the edge hook-and-loop. Slightly short cloth leaves a gap. Slightly large can overlap.

  2. 2

    Cutting a door curtain

Flyscreen Queen says not to trim a weighted magnetic door screen. A SMALUCK review says the 80 × 200 cm curtain could not be narrowed. The window kits are the products sold to be cut down from a maximum.

  3. 3

    Reading stars as midge mesh

Only Flux Phenom prints a hole size, and that 1 mm claim is not a 20×20 or 30×20 weave. Two UK reviews of MiLeJu say small bugs still pass. A high star line on the wrong width is not a saving.

What to weigh up

Opening and size

High

A door needs a walk-through curtain with hook-and-loop on the frame and magnets in the centre. A window needs a kit you trim to a stated maximum and lift off the handle. The door curtains here are WENT at 110 × 220 cm including the edge hook-and-loop, SMALUCK at 80 × 200 cm, DDGAO at 90 × 200 cm, and Flux Phenom up to 90 × 210 cm. The window kits are MiLeJu up to 120 × 130 cm, NeatiEase up to 100 × 130 cm, and JOOFAN up to 79 × 145 cm. Check whether the number is the cloth or the hole.

Mesh, fixing and price

High

Mesh counts only when the listing states it. Flux Phenom says 1 mm holes and 52 sewn magnets. The other curtains do not state a hole size. Streme wants 30×20 for midges and rejects 20×20. The Scottish Shutter Company argues for 20×20, about 0.94 mm against a 1.4 mm Highland midge wingspan, because tighter cloth cuts air and light. An unstated polyester weave is not midge mesh, and JOOFAN does not name a mesh material at all.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

A wide garden door

You want the back door open in warm weather and you have measured a frame that wants about 110 × 220 cm of cloth, including the edge hook-and-loop. The WENT curtain is the top pick at about £11.99. Clean the frame first. Tape failed on some uPVC until a batten or pins were added.

A narrower rented door

You need a no-drill walk-through for a door near 80 × 200 cm, and you will assume adhesive can still leave residue. SMALUCK is the best value at about £13.99. One UK review says it cannot be trimmed. Read the lease before you use pins.

One uPVC window

You are screening a casement, not a door you walk through. NeatiEase is the window kit with the largest review file here, 4.3 from 4,006, for one opening within 100 × 130 cm. The first fit often takes 20 to 60 minutes, and the strip often covers only that window.

Common questions about fly screen magnets

Which fly screen magnet is the top pick?
The top pick is the WENT door curtain at about £11.99, with 4.6 from 10,937 amazon.co.uk reviews and a score of 88. It leads only when a 110 × 220 cm cloth, including the edge hook-and-loop, overlaps the frame. Tape on some uPVC and a long hem are the review limits, and the hole size is not stated. Best value is a different listing: SMALUCK at about £13.99, 4.5 from 2,123 reviews, for a door near 80 × 200 cm. One review says that cloth cannot be trimmed.
How much does a magnetic fly screen cost?
In this set, door curtains are about £11.99 to about £18.95 and window kits are about £22.93 to about £29.90 on the amazon.co.uk lines captured on 19 October 2026. WENT is about £11.99, SMALUCK about £13.99, DDGAO about £16.99 and Flux Phenom about £18.95. MiLeJu is about £22.93, NeatiEase about £26.99 and JOOFAN about £29.90. Shop prices outside this ASIN set, about £29.99 to £119 for some stated-weave screens, are context only and are not amazon prices. Any of these figures can move.
What should you check before you buy a fly screen magnet?
Check the opening first. A door needs a walk-through curtain with hook-and-loop and centre magnets. A window needs a kit you trim to a stated maximum. Then check whether the printed size is the cloth or the hole. Door curtains in this set should be treated as not trimmable. Window kits are sold to be cut down from their maximum. Mesh counts only when a hole size is printed. Flux Phenom is the only door curtain here with both 52 magnets and a 1 mm hole.
Should you buy a door curtain or a window kit?
A door curtain is pushed open and closes on magnets. The four here are WENT, SMALUCK, DDGAO and Flux Phenom, from about £11.99 to about £18.95. A window kit is a panel you cut below a stated maximum and fix with adhesive magnetic strip. NeatiEase, MiLeJu and JOOFAN are about £22.93 to about £29.90, and the strip often covers one window. Do not put a door curtain on a casement. The fork is set out under door or window magnetic screens.
Can you cut a magnetic fly screen to size?
Do not assume a door curtain can be cut. Flyscreen Queen says not to trim a weighted magnetic door screen. A SMALUCK review says the 80 × 200 cm curtain could not be narrowed, and the listing does not say it can be cut. DDGAO asks the question and does not confirm a yes. The three window kits are sold to be cut below their maximum: MiLeJu 120 × 130 cm, NeatiEase 100 × 130 cm, and JOOFAN 79 × 145 cm. Slightly short cloth leaves a gap.
Will these magnetic screens stop midges?
No listing in this set is a midge certificate. Flux Phenom states 1 mm holes for gnats, mosquitoes and flies. That is a listing claim, not a printed 20×20 or 30×20 weave. The other door curtains do not state a hole size. Streme wants 30×20 for midges and rejects 20×20. The Scottish Shutter Company argues for 20×20, about 0.94 mm, because tighter cloth cuts air and light. Two UK reviews of MiLeJu say small bugs still pass. An unstated polyester weave is not midge mesh.
Will the screen hold a pet, and will the tape mark the frame?
A door curtain is pushed through, then the magnets close. Home Fair Blinds says that is not a pet lock. UK reviews of WENT and SMALUCK describe dogs, and sometimes cats, walking through. One NeatiEase review calls it a good fly screen and a poor pet screen. A window kit is mesh, not a claw-proof screen. Clean and dry the frame and press the tape fully. SMALUCK’s listing says removal leaves no marks, and one UK review reports glue residue. Pins make holes. If you rent, read the lease first.

Our verdict

The top pick is the WENT door curtain at about £11.99, with 4.6 from 10,937 reviews and a score of 88. It leads only when a 110 × 220 cm cloth, including the edge hook-and-loop, overlaps the frame. Tape on some uPVC and a hem that is too long are the limits. Best value is SMALUCK, a different listing, at about £13.99, with 4.5 from 2,123 reviews and a score of 86, for a door near 80 × 200 cm. One review says that curtain cannot be trimmed. Flux Phenom scores 87 because it prints 52 magnets and a 1 mm hole, at about £18.95, and it is not the value pick. These scores are listing scores. They are not a laboratory test.
