Magnetic fly screen door or window: choose the type

Updated: 21 October 2026

The same three words cover two products, and buying the wrong one wastes the afternoon. A magnetic fly screen door is a curtain with a centre split you walk through. A magnetic fly screen window is a frame you cut to a maximum and lift off the handle. If a results page mixed them, this is the fork. The centimetres and the prices are on the [magnetic fly screen comparison](/hub/hedges-and-privacy-screens/fly-screen-magnet). Listings were captured on amazon.co.uk on 19 October 2026. Products Compared did not lab-test either type. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What each type is doing

A door model has a magnetic centre and hook-and-loop on the sides and the top. A window model is magnetic on four sides and has no centre opening. This amazon set has no third product for a very large opening. On a curtain the magnets pull two halves together after you pass. On a kit they hold a panel so you can lift it off. Hands-free walk-through is yes on the four curtains and no on the three kits. A dog or a cat can push a curtain. Home Fair Blinds is clear that this is not a pet barrier, and wind can part the split. NeatiEase says cats and dogs stay off, and one review calls it a poor pet screen. Neither type is a lock.

When the opening is a door

Use a curtain: WENT at 110 by 220 cm including the Velcro, SMALUCK at 80 by 200 cm, DDGAO at 90 by 200 cm, or Flux Phenom up to 90 by 210 cm. Tape the top and the sides and leave the bottom free. A high star line on a 110 cm cloth is the wrong saving for an 80 cm door you cannot cut. Which curtain ranks is on best magnetic fly screen. French doors need one curtain per leaf. Two 80 cm leaves want two SMALUCK curtains, not one WENT across the stile. A wide slider is the case to refuse. Flux Phenom does not name a sliding track. SMALUCK mentions sliding doors, but the cloth is still 80 by 200 cm. A hinged back door or one French leaf inside the printed size is what this set is for.

When the opening is a window

A bedroom casement wants a panel you lift, not a split you push. MiLeJu trims from 120 by 130 cm, about £22.93. NeatiEase trims from 100 by 130 cm, about £26.99, with 4.3 from 4,006 reviews. JOOFAN trims from 79 by 145 cm, about £29.90, with a small hatch. That hatch is the tall narrow shape, and it is not a door split. Reviews say it fails on a night latch or a trickle vent. If the vent has to come off, you are altering the window. One kit covers one window. The strip runs out before a second casement, and the first build often takes 20 to 60 minutes. None of the three prints a weave count.

The recommendation with a condition

If you can walk through, buy a curtain and ignore the kits. About 110 by 220 cm points at WENT, about 80 by 200 cm at SMALUCK, and a hinged door up to 90 by 210 cm with a printed 1 mm hole at Flux Phenom. Read the magnetic fly screen buying guide before you borrow another brand's centimetres. A casement you open daily wants a kit whose maximum is larger than the frame. Do not hang a kit on a door, and do not hang a curtain over a bedroom window. A wide slider, a crumbling frame, or a lease that bans adhesive is outside both. A made-to-measure screen, or no screen, is the honest outcome.

Common questions

I have a back door. Which type?
A door curtain, if the leaf is a hinged door inside one of the printed sizes. WENT, SMALUCK, DDGAO and Flux Phenom are the curtain rows. Pick by width after you measure. A window kit will not close behind you.
I have a bedroom casement. Which type?
A window kit. NeatiEase if the frame is within 100 by 130 cm. MiLeJu if you need up to 120 by 130 cm. JOOFAN only if the window is tall and narrow, inside 79 by 145 cm, and the hatch clears the handle.
Can one curtain cover both French leaves?
Not in this set. These are single cloths. Fit one curtain to each leaf and measure each leaf on its own. A curtain across both leaves fights the meeting stile and the handles.
Can I hang a window kit on a door?
No. The kits are four-sided panels with no centre opening, cut from a window maximum. A back door needs a split you can push. A kit leaves you lifting a panel every time you go out.
Which window kit is closest to a tall narrow window?
JOOFAN, maximum 79 by 145 cm, with the small hatch. MiLeJu at 120 by 130 cm and NeatiEase at 100 by 130 cm are squarer. The hatch still has to clear a night latch and any trickle vent.
What if the opening is a wide sliding patio door?
Treat it as out of range unless the opening is genuinely within one cloth, such as SMALUCK's 80 by 200 cm. None of these is a sliding-track system. Look at a screen made for that door, or leave it unscreened.
