Tiered mini greenhouse or tunnel

Updated: October 2026

You are looking at one list of mini greenhouses and most of the pictures are shelves, until a long low cover appears at the same price. A tiered mini greenhouse or a tunnel is the choice this set actually forces. Eight of the nine amazon.co.uk listings in our [mini greenhouse comparison](/hub/raised-beds-greenhouses-and-compost/mini-greenhouse) are racks about 80–162 cm tall. One, the VOUNOT B0F131MRBR, is a 270 × 90 × 90 cm tunnel. Products Compared read those listings on 16 October 2026. We did not trial them side by side in a garden. A rack holds trays, a tunnel covers a bed

A tiered rack is a cupboard of shelves with a zip or a roll-up door. You stand pots and trays on the levels. Heights in this extract run from about 80 cm on the shortest DIVCHI two-tier to 162 cm on the Ohuhu. The tunnel is a walk-over cover for a row or a raised bed. There are no shelves in the extract. The bullets describe three mesh roll-up windows. The specification table also says three doors. Treat that as the same count printed twice, not as three entrances you can use from three sides. If your plants are already in a bed about 90 cm wide, the tunnel matches the soil. If your plants are still in pots on a patio, a rack matches the pots.

Footprints that do not swap

Put the tape on the ground before you compare stars. The tunnel needs 270 cm of length and 90 cm of width, and it is only 90 cm high. A rack at 158–162 cm gives headroom for a plant on one level and takes about half a metre of depth. Prices do not separate them cleanly. The tunnel is £34.99, with 4.5 from 121 reviews. JUNGLE STONE is £28.99. The VOUNOT four-tier rack is £24.63. Cloth type, PE against PVC, stays on the buying guide page. The tunnel’s bullets include ground stakes and nylon ties, and the printed weight is 4 kg. JUNGLE STONE states a 10 cm skirt instead of a stake kit. None of the nine prints a wind speed.

When the tunnel is the clearer buy

Choose the tunnel when the bed or the row is already there, about 90 cm wide, and you can give it 270 cm without blocking a path. The 135 g/m² polyethylene is printed, which most of the racks do not match, the VOUNOT four-tier aside. Stakes are in the bullets. You open the cover by day. There is no shelf to adjust. Skip the tunnel if the only space is a balcony, or if you grow in pots rather than in a bed. Skip it if you wanted four tiers of trays: you will be disappointed on the first evening, because the floor of the tunnel is the bed, not a shelf. Herbs and low bedding fit.

When shelves are the clearer buy

Choose a rack when the plants are in trays or pots and you can use a depth of about 45–50 cm against a wall. JUNGLE STONE’s bullets say 15 kg a shelf. The VOUNOT four-tier says 10 kg a shelf and 135 g/m², at £24.63, which is the best value on the main comparison for that pair of printed facts. Ohuhu says 10 kg and adds wheels, at £39.99, which is worth it only if you will roll the rack. The DIVCHI racks do not print a kilogram load. The short two-tier houses, 80–85 cm, are doorstep shapes. They are still racks.

Common questions

Can I cover a raised bed with a 50 cm rack?
No. The racks are about 45–50 cm deep, or 69 cm wide in the usual four-tier size. A bed about 90 cm wide stays open at the sides. The tunnel is the listing cut to that width, at 90 cm, if you also have 270 cm of length. A shorter bed is not solved by folding the tunnel in the listing. The length is printed as 270 cm.
Is the tunnel warmer because it is bigger?
It holds a different volume, low and long, over soil. The racks hold a tall narrow volume over pots. The RHS warning is the same for both: a small air volume swings, and an unheated polythene cover is a weak winter store for tender plants. Do not expect the 270 cm length to act as a heated greenhouse. Nothing in this set states a frost temperature.
Do I save money by picking the tunnel?
Not automatically. At £34.99 it sits with the dearer racks, not with the £14.29 two-tier. You spend that money for a bed cover with stakes and a printed 135 g/m² film. If you needed shelves, the VOUNOT four-tier at £24.63 prints the same gram weight and a 10 kg shelf, and it is the wrong shape for the bed. Match the shape, then the price.
What if I wanted a cold frame instead?
Then neither shape in this set is the object. A cold frame is a low box with a lid, which the RHS discusses beside mini greenhouses and does not treat as a film rack or a 270 cm tunnel. This comparison cannot rank a cold frame that was never listed. Use it when you want to harden plants close to the soil without a door you can walk up to.
Which racks are the wrong buy once I have chosen shelves?
The ones whose size you cannot mark out. Bamworld’s table and its 22-inch shelf line disagree, and no assembled height is printed. JUNGLE STONE prints 69 cm and 64 cm. The two-tier PVC prints two depths. If you need one footprint for a tight patio, those clashes are a reason to pause, even after the tunnel has been ruled out. The VOUNOT four-tier’s 69 × 49 × 160 cm at least agrees with itself.
