Vinyl tiles in a UK search are not one product. Thin peel-and-stick tiles and planks are a skin for a floor that is already flat, clean and dry. Classified luxury vinyl tile, with a printed wear layer and an ISO 10874 use class, is a different floor and a different price band. The seven amazon.co.uk packs here are all peel-and-stick. None of them prints a wear layer, a use class, a pendulum value or a fire class. A bathroom sentence in a bullet describes the vinyl surface. It is not a wet-room specification and it is not a slip test. You separate the packs by stated thickness, stated coverage, pattern, and price per square metre only where the listing prints an area. The [vinyl tiles buying guide](/hub/flooring/vinyl-tiles/sub/vinyl-tiles-buying-guide) explains the blank fields. A vinyl tile is a peel-and-stick square or plank. A matching wood or marble picture does not make them the same product.

The best vinyl tiles in detail

FloorPops Daphne, pink floral

Rank 1

FloorPops Daphne, pink floral

∼£14

Our view

The FloorPops Daphne carton is ten 12 × 12 inch floral squares, stated to cover 10 square feet, at £14.00. amazon.co.uk lists 4.6 from 595 reviews, the highest average in this set, which is why it is the top pick on listing data. Reviewers describe bathroom, hallway, laundry, and en-suite floors, and several say the adhesive held once the tile was down and could still be shifted while you positioned it. One buyer laid them over vinyl that was already stuck, and one says they are not slippery when wet. A separate thickness is not printed, so that average is not a wear-layer result. Other reviews report edges lifting in a bathroom, and ten tiles do not cover much of a room. The reusability field says reusable while the materials line says permanent adhesive, so those two lines do not agree.

Pros

  • Stated coverage of 10 square feet at £14.00
  • 4.6 from 595 amazon.co.uk reviews, the highest average in this set
  • Reviewers cut them with a Stanley knife or scissors, including awkward edges
  • One buyer reports a consistent colour across five packets

Cons

  • Thickness is not printed
  • Edges lift for some buyers, including in a bathroom
  • The listing says both reusable and permanent adhesive
  • A room needs more than one carton of ten tiles

Best for: A small patterned floor, such as a cloakroom or a short hall, when you buy the extra cartons together and can accept a blank thickness.

Less suitable: A kitchen you expect to keep for years, or any job that needs a printed wear layer.

Common questions

Are these bathroom tiles?

The page asks whether they can be used in a bathroom. The bullets do not name a bathroom. The listing says indoor, water resistant, and waterproof, and it does not print a slip value. Some reviews describe bathroom and en-suite use; others report lifting in a bathroom.

How much does one carton cover?

The title and a bullet say 10 tiles and 10 square feet. A separate thickness is not printed. The shelf price in the file is £14.00.

CYEER grey marble squares

Rank 2

CYEER grey marble squares

∼£29

Our view

The CYEER grey marble pack is 40 squares of about 30 × 30 cm at a stated 1.3 mm, priced at £29.37. amazon.co.uk lists 4.4 from 150 reviews. The backing field says vinyl, which is a cleaner line than the black listing’s foam or fabric field, and coverage in square metres is still not printed. Reviewers laid them over old kitchen lino and on bathroom floors, some finishing a first attempt in about an hour, cutting with scissors or a Stanley knife. Some needed no extra adhesive after washing and hoovering, and one pack covered a small bathroom. Many others still bought carpet spray glue because of what they had read. Boxes arrive damaged: one buyer found 32 of 40 tiles marked at a corner, and shade differs between boxes. A review says they are slippery under small mats, and that nails in the subfloor show through.

Pros

  • Stated thickness 1.3 mm, with the backing field reading vinyl
  • 4.4 from 150 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Some buyers laid a small bathroom or old kitchen lino in about an hour
  • Cuts with scissors or a Stanley knife

Cons

  • Coverage in square metres is not printed
  • Boxes can arrive with damaged corners, and shade differs between packs
  • Many buyers still used carpet spray glue
  • Called slippery under small mats, and nails can telegraph through

Best for: A small bathroom or kitchen when 40 tiles of about 30 cm are enough and you check the box for broken corners before you peel anything.

Less suitable: A floor with proud nails, or a job where you need the seller to have printed the square metres.

Common questions

Can these go in a bathroom?

The title names bathroom, kitchen, and living room. Waterproof is a seller sentence. No slip value is printed. One review says they can be slippery under small mats and that nails in the subfloor show through.

How does this pack differ from the black CYEER listing?

This file is the grey variant: 40 tiles, about 30 × 30 cm, stated 1.3 mm, £29.37. The backing-type field says vinyl. The black listing’s backing field says foam/fabric. Coverage in square metres is not printed here either.

DIY Doctor dark wood planks

Rank 3

DIY Doctor dark wood planks

∼£50

Our view

The DIY Doctor dark wood pack is 36 planks of 91.5 × 15.2 cm, stated to cover 5.02 m², at £49.99. That is about £9.96 per square metre on the printed area, the lowest rate in this set where the area is actually printed, which is why it is the best value on price per square metre. amazon.co.uk lists 4.4 from 12 reviews, so that average sits on a thin file and the score stays low. Reviewers call them easy to cut with scissors, including an en-suite on plywood and a shed, and one buyer says they stuck firmly with no extra adhesive and no edge lift. Another says the self-adhesive failed on laminate and they bought a separate vinyl adhesive. The colour does not match the photographs for at least one buyer, who says a sample first avoided the wrong shade. Thickness is not printed, and the listing asks about high traffic and adhesive life without giving a number. The box weighs 20.5 kg, which tells you about handling, not about a wear layer.

Pros

  • Stated 5.02 m² at about £9.96 per square metre, the lowest printed rate here
  • 36 planks of 91.5 × 15.2 cm in one box
  • Reviewers cut them with scissors, and one reports a firm stick with no edge lift
  • Bullets name a sharp craft knife and say no saw is required

Cons

  • 4.4 from only 12 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Thickness is not printed
  • Self-adhesive failed on laminate for one buyer, who bought extra adhesive
  • Colour on the floor can differ from the photograph

Best for: A dark wood cover of about 5 m² when the floor is already flat and clean, and you can live with a 12-review file.

Less suitable: Laminate that already refused the backing, or a choice you want confirmed by hundreds of UK reviews.

Common questions

Will these planks suit a kitchen or bathroom?

The bullets say they lay over existing kitchen, bathroom, and hallway floors, and they call the vinyl waterproof and wear resistant. No wear-layer thickness, slip value, or fire class is printed. The listing asks about uneven floors, high traffic, and adhesive life, and it does not give numbers for those.

How much floor is in the box?

Thirty-six planks of 91.5 × 15.2 cm, stated coverage 5.02 m², at £49.99. That is about £9.96 per square metre on the printed area. Thickness is not printed. The bullets say no glue, grout, or tools are included, and that you cut with a sharp craft knife.

CYEER black marble squares

Rank 4

CYEER black marble squares

∼£30

Our view

The CYEER black marble pack is 40 squares of about 30 × 30 cm, stated at 1.3 mm, priced at £29.99. amazon.co.uk lists 4.3 from 97 reviews. Coverage in square metres is not printed, and multiplying 40 faces of 30 cm by 30 cm to 3.6 m² is arithmetic, not a figure the listing states. Buyers who got a bond describe a hall or a kitchen laid in about an hour, with no pattern to match, and they call the tiles sturdy. Other reviews say the adhesive was absent, spray glue did not fix a bond to tile or wood, and tiles arrived snapped or bent. Two packs had completely different finishes, and one hall that cost over £100 was called flimsy. The backing field says foam or fabric, a bullet says carpet tiles, and the title says vinyl floor tiles, while the easy-removal line is a sentence on the page, not a residue test.

Pros

  • Forty tiles at a stated 1.3 mm, the thickest total printed in this set alongside the grey pack
  • 4.3 from 97 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • No pattern to match, and some buyers finished a hall or kitchen in about an hour
  • Cuts with a utility knife

Cons

  • Coverage is not printed
  • Adhesive failed for some buyers on tile and on wood, even with spray glue
  • Tiles arrive snapped or bent, and a second pack can be a different finish
  • Backing field, a carpet-tile bullet, and the vinyl title do not describe the same product

Best for: A plain dark square only if you open the box, reject broken tiles, and test one tile on your actual floor before you commit the rest.

Less suitable: A hall where the first tile will not bond, or a buyer who needs one consistent finish across two packs.

Common questions

Can these go in a bathroom?

Bullets name bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, bedrooms, living rooms, apartments, and commercial spaces. Waterproof is a seller sentence. No slip value and no fire class are printed. A bullet says flame-retardant.

How many tiles are in the pack, and will they come off?

Forty tiles, about 30 × 30 cm and 1.3 mm. Coverage in square metres is not printed. The seller claims easy removal without residue. Reviews also describe tiles that would not bond.

FloorPops Medina, grey paisley

Rank 5

FloorPops Medina, grey paisley

∼£13

Our view

The FloorPops Medina pack is ten 12 × 12 inch grey paisley squares at £13.00. amazon.co.uk lists 4.2 from 7,023 reviews, by far the largest file in this set. Reviewers describe hallway and bathroom floors looking brighter, and some report a strong stick after cleaning, including a guest bathroom and a mobile home used as a let. Cutting with scissors or a Stanley knife, including around a sink, comes up often. The same file also describes weak adhesive, so people added spray adhesive, tape, or glue, and corners lift unless the floor is spotless. Pattern match fails from tile to tile, and a second box can be a different shade even when batch numbers match. Coverage in square metres is not printed, and the 0.06 in bullet does not match the other dimension lines on the page. Reviewers also call the tiles slippery.

Pros

  • 4.2 from 7,023 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest file in this set
  • £13.00 for ten 12 × 12 inch squares
  • Cuts with scissors or a Stanley knife, including around a sink
  • Some buyers report a firm stick after the floor is cleaned

Cons

  • Coverage is not printed, and the depth lines on the page disagree
  • Pattern and shade differ between tiles and between boxes
  • Corners lift unless you add adhesive
  • Described as slippery in reviews

Best for: A small decorative floor when you want the deepest UK review file in this set and you can buy every box in one order.

Less suitable: A job that needs a printed coverage figure, or a floor where a mismatched paisley repeat would show.

Common questions

Can these tiles be used in a bathroom?

The listing asks that question and does not answer it in the specification. It says indoor, water resistant, and waterproof. No slip test is printed. Reviews mention hallway and bathroom floors, and some call the tiles slippery.

How thick are they, and how much floor do they cover?

The size field says 12 × 12 inches and the pack is 10 tiles. A bullet gives depth as 0.06 in. Item dimensions also print 152.4 × 61 × 0.2 cm and 77.4 × 77.4 cm. Coverage in square metres is not printed. The price in the file is £13.00.

Elffloor black and white squares

Rank 6

Elffloor black and white squares

∼£10

Our view

The Elffloor black and white pack is ten 20 × 20 cm squares, stated at 0.7 mm and 0.4 m², priced at £9.99. That is about £24.98 per square metre on the printed area, the dearest rate among packs that print an area. amazon.co.uk lists 4.0 from 441 reviews. Reviewers who sorted the designs into piles first describe a sharp black and white pattern in a bathroom or kitchen, and scissors plus a hair dryer after each section helped one buyer with a slight lift. The same reviews say the tiles will not stay down without extra adhesive, the edges are wonky, and the tiles are not the same size, so a straight grid is hard to keep. A clear border shows the floor between tiles, and one review calls them a bit slippery. Ten small tiles do not cover a bathroom. Item dimensions also print 0.1 cm, which is not the same figure as the 0.7 mm bullet.

Pros

  • £9.99 at the till, with a stated 0.4 m² so the area is visible
  • 4.0 from 441 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • Easy to cut with scissors and to lift while you reposition them
  • Texture described as helping grip on a porch and a side door for some buyers

Cons

  • About £24.98 per square metre on only 0.4 m²
  • Tiles vary in size, and a clear edge shows the floor between them
  • Joints lift and the bullet’s no-extra-glue line does not hold for many buyers
  • Called paper thin and a bit slippery, and 0.1 cm is also printed

Best for: A tiny patch, such as a porch mat’s worth of floor, when you want a black and white square and you will press the joints back down.

Less suitable: A whole bathroom, because ten tiles are 0.4 m² and the metre rate is the dearest printed rate here.

Common questions

Can they be used in a bathroom?

The title and an application bullet name bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and corridors, on a flat, clean floor. Waterproof is a seller sentence. No slip test is printed. One review calls them a bit slippery.

How much floor is in the pack?

Ten tiles of 20 × 20 cm, stated coverage 0.4 m², at £9.99. That is £24.98 per square metre on the printed area. The thickness bullet says 0.7 mm. Item dimensions also print 0.1 cm.

Elffloor grey oak planks

Rank 7

Elffloor grey oak planks

∼£19

Our view

The Elffloor grey oak pack is ten peel-and-stick planks, 90 × 15 cm, stated at 0.5 mm and 1.35 m², priced at £18.99. That is about £14.07 per square metre on the printed area. amazon.co.uk lists 3.7 from 167 reviews, the lowest average in this set. The pack is described as a roll wrap, and reviews often say the planks arrive curled and will not stay flat. The seller says to press them under something heavy for a day, and at least one buyer found that the weighting flattened them. Others report edges lifting within days, sometimes the same night, even after extra glue. A chair wheel marked the middle of a piece within a year, colour changed between packs in an order of 20, and one reviewer received pieces of 9 × 15 cm rather than 90 × 15 cm. At 0.5 mm these are the thinnest stated floor in this set.

Pros

  • Printed coverage of 1.35 m² at about £14.07 per square metre
  • Stated thickness of 0.5 mm, so you can see how thin the plank is
  • Wood-effect look once a buyer got the pieces flat, including a kitchen
  • Cuts with scissors when the plank will lie flat

Cons

  • 3.7 from 167 reviews, the lowest average in this set
  • Arrive rolled and often will not stay flat
  • Edges lift, sometimes the same night, even after extra glue
  • A chair wheel marked a piece within a year, and shade changes between packs

Best for: A short wood-effect cover, such as a cupboard or stair risers, if you can weight the roll for a day and you do not mind a thin sheet.

Less suitable: A floor that must lie flat without weighting, or a room with chair wheels.

Common questions

Can these planks go in a bathroom?

A bullet names smooth surfaces in the kitchen, bedroom, living room, and bathroom, and calls them waterproof. No slip test, fire class, or wear layer is printed. Stated thickness is 0.5 mm.

Why might they not lie flat?

The pack is described as a roll wrap. The seller says to press them under something heavy for a day after delivery, and that a hot hair dryer can help in cold weather. Reviews often say they arrive rolled and curl.

How we compared

We compared seven amazon.co.uk peel-and-stick packs from the saved listings. Products Compared did not lay these packs, measure wear, or run a pendulum test. The score uses the star average, the size of the review file, and whether coverage and a single thickness are printed. Recurring review defects are taken off. Price per square metre is outside the score. It decides the best value mark only where the listing prints an area.

1

Amazon stars

40%

The amazon.co.uk average is multiplied by 8, so 5.0 stars is 40 points. The star line is the listing average, not a wear test.

2

Review file

30%

The review block is 30 points at 2,000 reviews or more, 24 from 500 to 1,999, 16 from 100 to 499, 10 from 50 to 99, and 4 below 50.

3

Printed specification

20%

Ten points if coverage is printed in square metres or square feet, and 10 points if a thickness is printed and no second thickness line contradicts it.

4

Recurring defects

10%

This block is deduction, not extra credit. Points come off for curl, edges that lift, a bond that fails, broken tiles, shade clashes, a chair-wheel mark, and a conflicting backing line.

Buying vinyl tiles

Start with the product family. Peel-and-stick is a DIY skin. Glue-down luxury vinyl tile and click or SPC are classified floors, and a wood-effect picture does not make them the same. Then read the stated coverage, and the price per square metre only when square metres are printed. Total thickness on these packs is not a wear layer. None of the seven prints a use class or a pendulum value. The notes below follow the amazon.co.uk listings behind this page.

What are vinyl tiles?

A vinyl tile in this comparison is a peel-and-stick square or plank. It is a thin skin you press onto a floor that is already flat, clean and dry. It is not classified luxury vinyl tile. Glue-down LVT and click or SPC floors carry a printed wear layer and an ISO 10874 use class. A matching wood or marble picture does not make them the same product. The seven amazon.co.uk packs here are all peel-and-stick.

Best for

  • Renters and weekend DIYers covering a small room without grout
  • A dark wood cover of about 5 m² on a floor that is already flat and clean

Not ideal for

  • A kitchen you expect to keep for a decade, which needs classified LVT or sheet vinyl
  • A wet room, unknown concrete moisture, or a floor that may contain asbestos tiles

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Buying on the pack price

£9.99 can be the dearest floor per square metre. Elffloor black and white squares are a stated 0.4 m², about £24.98 per square metre. DIY Doctor is £49.99 for a stated 5.02 m², about £9.96 per square metre. Read the area before the till price.

  2. 2

Reading total thickness as a wear layer

Elffloor’s 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm, CYEER’s 1.3 mm and Medina’s 0.06 in are total thickness where a figure is printed. None of these seven prints a wear layer. Daphne and DIY Doctor print no thickness at all. A star rating does not fill that blank.

  3. 3

Laying onto dust, damp or dents

The floor has to be clean, dry and flat, because dents show through a thin skin. Reviews describe shade changes when a second box is ordered later. A waterproof bullet is not a shower specification. Call a fitter if concrete moisture is unknown, if asbestos tiles are possible, or if the room is a wet room.

What to weigh up

Stated coverage and price per square metre

High

Price per square metre is the fair comparison, and only when the listing prints an area. The till price on these seven packs runs from £9.99 to £49.99, which hides how little floor is in the cheap carton. Elffloor black and white squares are £9.99 for a stated 0.4 m², about £24.98 per square metre, the dearest printed rate here. DIY Doctor dark wood is £49.99 for a stated 5.02 m², about £9.96 per square metre, the lowest printed rate, which is why it is the best value.

Thickness, slip and the floor underneath

High

None of these seven prints a wear layer. The thickness line, where it exists, is total thickness. Elffloor prints 0.5 mm on the grey oak planks and 0.7 mm on the 20 cm squares, and the square pack also prints 0.1 cm, which is not the same figure. CYEER prints 1.3 mm on both the black and the grey squares. Medina’s bullet says 0.06 in, and the pack dimensions also print 0.2 cm. Daphne and DIY Doctor print no thickness.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

A small patterned floor

You want a cloakroom or a short hall covered without grout, and you can buy the extra cartons in one order. FloorPops Daphne is the top pick: a stated 10 square feet, 4.6 from 595 reviews. Thickness is not printed, and the listing says both reusable and permanent adhesive.

About 5 m², watching the rate

You have a flat, clean floor and you want the lowest printed price per square metre. DIY Doctor dark wood is the best value at about £9.96 per square metre on a stated 5.02 m². The file is 4.4 from 12 reviews, and thickness is not printed.

The deepest review file

You want the largest amazon.co.uk review file before you commit to a small decorative square. FloorPops Medina is 4.2 from 7,023 reviews at £13.00. Coverage is not printed, shade can change between boxes, and corners lift unless the floor is spotless.

Common questions about vinyl tiles

Which vinyl tile is the top pick in this comparison?
FloorPops Daphne, ten 12 × 12 inch floral squares at £14.00, is the top pick. It has the highest listing-data score in this set, 65, from 4.6 and 595 amazon.co.uk reviews, and the carton states 10 square feet. Thickness is not printed, so that score is not a wear test. Edges lift in some bathroom reviews, and the listing says both reusable and permanent adhesive.
How much do these vinyl tiles cost?
These seven packs cost £9.99 to £49.99 on the saved amazon.co.uk listings. The till price is a poor guide. Elffloor black and white squares are £9.99 for a stated 0.4 m², about £24.98 per square metre. DIY Doctor dark wood is £49.99 for a stated 5.02 m², about £9.96 per square metre, the lowest printed rate here. Where coverage is not printed, this page does not invent a metre price.
What should you check before you buy vinyl tiles?
Check the product family first. These seven are peel-and-stick, not glue-down luxury vinyl tile or click flooring. Then read stated coverage and, only if square metres are printed, the price per square metre. Read total thickness as total thickness, not as a wear layer. None of these packs prints a wear layer, an ISO 10874 use class or a pendulum value. The floor underneath needs to be clean, dry and flat, because dents show through.
Can these peel-and-stick vinyl tiles go in a bathroom?
A bathroom line on these listings is a seller sentence. FloorPops, Elffloor, CYEER and DIY Doctor name bathrooms or wet-area rooms in places, and they call the vinyl waterproof or water resistant. No pendulum slip value is printed. Reviews mention bathroom use, and some call Medina, the Elffloor squares or the grey CYEER slippery. Edges also lift in some bathroom reviews of Daphne. That is not a wet-room specification.
Is a waterproof bullet a wet-room specification?
No. A waterproof or water-resistant bullet is a seller claim about the vinyl surface. It is not a shower or wet-room specification, and it is not a slip test. HSE treats a pendulum value of 36 or above as low slip potential. None of these seven prints that figure. If the room is a wet room, stop and use a floor that is specified for it.
How do you tell a vinyl scratch from a tile chip?
These packs are thin vinyl. A chair wheel marked an Elffloor grey oak plank within a year, and no wear layer is printed, so you cannot sand a scuff back to a fresh layer. A chip in a ceramic or porcelain tile is a different repair. If you are unsure which mark you are looking at, read vinyl scratch or tile chip before you buy a filler or another carton.
Should you sand an old vinyl tile floor before laying these?
Do not sand a floor that may contain asbestos tiles or bitumen adhesive. HSE guidance is not to sand that material. Dents and dust still show through a thin peel-and-stick skin, so the surface has to be clean, dry and flat before you peel anything. If you do not know whether old tiles contain asbestos, or whether a concrete slab is dry enough, call a fitter rather than opening the pack.
Why is the best value not the highest score?
Price per square metre is not inside the score. It decides the best value mark on its own, and only where the listing prints an area. DIY Doctor is about £9.96 per square metre on a stated 5.02 m², so it is the best value, but 4.4 from 12 reviews keeps the score at 43. Daphne scores 65, and its 10 square feet are not a printed metre rate. CYEER’s lower arithmetic is excluded because coverage is not printed.

Our verdict

The highest listing-data score is 65, on FloorPops Daphne: ten 12 × 12 inch tiles, a stated 10 square feet, £14.00, and 4.6 from 595 reviews. That is the top pick. Thickness is not printed, the listing says both reusable and permanent adhesive, and some bathroom reviews describe edges that lift. The best value on a printed square-metre price is DIY Doctor dark wood: 36 planks, a stated 5.02 m², £49.99, about £9.96 per square metre, and 4.4 from 12 reviews. The thin review file is why its score stays at 43. Elffloor grey oak is about £14.07 per square metre and is not the value pick, because it is 3.7 stars with curl. None of these figures is a laboratory wear test.
