Bestway robot or handheld pool vacuum

Updated: 21 October 2026

A Saturday clean on a 15 foot above-ground pool is either half an hour you can leave, or the best part of an hour you spend walking a pole. A Bestway robot or handheld pool vacuum is that choice, and the two machines do not finish the same job. The robot in this set with a printed floor is the AquaTronix G100. The handhelds are the AquaSurge sticks, 58649 and 58771, which you steer. We did not run a lab test. They do not replace each other

The G100 is listed at £151.20, with 4.4 from 268 reviews. It claims about 30 minutes on a flat above-ground floor up to 18 square metres, a 1.5 litre bin, and a charge of 2.5 to 4.5 hours. You put it in, switch the filter off, and take it out with a hook on your own pole. Thirty minutes does not cover a second pass, the walls, or a pool larger than that area. An AquaSurge is a stick you push. Both models claim about 50 minutes, and both hold less debris than 1.5 litres. The 58649 is about £47.41, with a 0.27 litre bin. The 58771 is about £76.73, with a 0.54 litre bin and a claim up to 6.10 metres. Fifty minutes is time you are holding the pole. The garden-hose Flowclear kit is not a third option. UK reviews say that floor head is not a hoover.

When the G100 is the one to buy

Buy the G100 when the floor is flat, the above-ground pool is within 18 square metres, and you want the machine to move without you. A 15 foot round pool is in the region of 16 square metres of surface. Treat that as a rule of thumb, not a guarantee. UK reviews describe leaves cleared in one charge, and also a short run, sticking, and dust stirred up. Skip it when the wall is steel. Bestway UK says the G100 is not compatible with steel-wall pools. One UK review reports use on a steel-wall oval anyway. That sentence is not a compatibility claim. It turns at the walls on a flat bottom. The 5 V adaptor is not in the box. At £151.20 it is the dearest product in the set.

When an AquaSurge is the one to buy

Buy a stick when you will steer, when the pool is outside the G100's flat-floor claim, or when Bestway's steel-wall line rules the robot out. The stated run is about 50 minutes. There is no UK review text for either ASIN. The star lines are 4.1 from 171 on the 58649, and 4.2 from 209 on the 58771. The 58649 bin is 0.27 litres. The 58771 is 0.54 litres, with a three-section pole and two heads, and a claim up to 6.10 metres. You pay about £29 more. The listing does not answer whether a charger is in the box. A dry charge port is covered on how to use a Bestway pool vacuum.

Do not read the G150 as a G200

The G150 (B0FMQD2N5B) sits at £95.93. The listing states a 2 litre capacity and does not state a runtime or a pool size. The G200 on Bestway's shop is a different robot, with talk of 90 minutes and 50 square metres at £199.99. Do not paste those numbers onto the G150. If you want the unattended clean, pay for the G100. If you want to spend nearer £50 to £80, buy the stick whose bin you have read, and steer it.

Common questions

When is the G100 the better buy?
When the above-ground pool has a flat floor within 18 square metres, the wall is not a steel wall, and you want about 30 minutes of cleaning without holding a pole. The raw-file price is £151.20, with 4.4 from 268 reviews and a 1.5 litre bin. The steel-wall exclusion is Bestway's, and one contrary review does not lift it.
When is a stick vacuum the better buy?
When you will steer, when the floor or the wall falls outside the G100 claim, or when you want to stay nearer £47 to £77. The 58649 holds 0.27 litres at about £47.41. The 58771 holds 0.54 litres at about £76.73 and states a three-section pole and two heads. Neither raw file has UK review text.
What is the difference between 58649 and 58771?
The 58649 is the smaller stick: 0.27 litre bin, about 50 minutes, pools up to 610 cm, about £47.41. The 58771 is the larger kit: 0.54 litre bin, pools up to 6.10 metres, three-section pole, two heads, about £76.73. No UK written review is in either raw file.
Is the G150 the same as the G200?
No. The G200 is Bestway's larger store model, with stated figures in the region of 90 minutes, 3.5 litres and 50 square metres, at about £199.99, and it is not an ASIN in this set. The G150 listing gives 2 litres and £95.93, and it omits runtime and pool size.
Will a robot clean the walls?
The G100 listing says it turns at the walls on a flat bottom. It does not claim to climb them. The 58771 bullets mention two heads for flat walls and corners, and you are the person aiming them. If the green ring at the waterline is the job, a stick you can point is the tool this set actually describes.
What if the pool has a steel wall?
Bestway UK excludes the G100 from steel-wall pools. Do not buy the robot on the strength of one UK review that mentions a steel-wall oval. Use a stick you steer. The 58771 is the fuller stick if you want a stated pole and a 0.54 litre bin.
