Mitre saw stand buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You already own the mitre saw, and the next job is a run of skirting or studs that a Workmate lets droop. This mitre saw stand buying guide is the order of checks before you pay, not a ranking. Start with the holes in the saw's base, then a load figure that includes the saw, then how long the arms are, then whether the wheels move the stand or only the timber. Prices on the [mitre saw stand comparison](/hub/power-saws/mitre-saw-stand) run from £69.99 to £239.99 on amazon.co.uk. Peter F. read those listings and public manuals. This is not a lab test. Will the saw bolt to it

The brackets have to meet the holes in the base you already own, and the bolts have to be long enough for a nut. A title that lists Makita, DeWalt, Bosch, Ryobi, Einhell and Metabo is a sales list, not a measurement. Evolution's shop page for the EVOMS1 prints 680 × 370 mm in the body and 680 × 330 mm in the table. Quote both, or measure the saw. One UK review needed longer bolts for a Worx saw. A review that is not from the United Kingdom said a Draper sheet bent after extra holes were drilled. Treat that as a warning against drilling, not as a UK failure rate. Einhell's M8 limit for the MSS 1608 and MSS 1610 is on universal or matched.

What the kilogram figure includes

Evolution's stand manual 005-0001 says 150 kg total weight, saw plus material. The saw uses part of that figure. On the amazon.co.uk cards from 19 October 2026, three listings print a load: the BORA PM-4000 at 226.8 kg, the EVOMS1 title at 150 kg, and the Draper 90249 at 150 kg. The MSS 1608, the MSS 1610, the Bosch GTA 3800 and the Evolution Plus title do not. Do not copy a manual figure onto a blank row and treat it as the listing. Stand weight is the frame you carry, not that rated load. Evolution's UK shop states 15.5 kg for the EVOMS1. That shop figure is a second source, not a row on the amazon card.

Support length, rollers and wheels

The EVOMS1 title says 3 m. The PM-4000 bullets say a total width of 2,895 mm. Draper's beam runs from 1,067 mm to 1,657 mm, and a separate bullet describes rollers for timber over 2 m. The beam is 1.66 m. The over-2 m line is about the rollers. A workpiece roller lets the board slide. A transport wheel moves the stand. Draper states both. BORA's amazon listing does not state wheels. BORA's UK page sells wheel kit PM-7004, and it prints 914 mm beside the amazon bullet of 863 mm. Quote both heights or skip the height. The MSS 1610 wheels are rollers on the pull-out supports. Who each stand is for is on the best mitre saw stand page.

What to ignore on the amazon page

Revolutions per minute, volts, tooth counts and batteries are noise on a frame with no motor. The stand does not guard the blade. The saw still needs a BS 1363 plug on 230 V. The EVOMS1's 4.7 from 5,168 reviews and the Bosch's 4.8 from 577 do not check your holes. Twenty-nine reviews on the Draper, and 71 on the Plus, are thin beside 5,168. Regulation 20 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 is an employer duty to stabilise equipment where safety needs it. A homeowner fitting skirting is not that employer. You still lock the legs and fasten the saw. If employees will use the stand, hand the assessment to the person who owns that duty.

Common questions

What should you check first on a mitre saw stand?
Check whether the brackets meet the holes in the saw you already own, and whether the bolts are long enough for a nut. A universal title that lists several brands is not that measurement. If the holes do not line up, the load and the price are the wrong next question. One UK review needed longer bolts for a Worx saw on an Evolution stand, which is why the base has to be in the room before you decide.
Does the kilogram rating include the saw?
On the Evolution stand manual, yes. The wording is 150 kg total weight, saw plus material. The saw uses part of that figure. On the amazon cards from 19 October 2026, only the BORA PM-4000, the EVOMS1 title and the Draper 90249 print a kilogram load. The other four listings leave the load blank. Do not copy a manual figure onto a blank amazon row and treat it as the listing.
Are transport wheels the same as workpiece rollers?
No. A workpiece roller supports the timber so it can slide. A transport wheel moves the stand. Draper's bullets state both. The Einhell MSS 1610 listing's wheels are on the pull-out supports, so they are rollers. BORA's amazon listing does not include wheels. The brand's UK page sells a separate wheel kit.
How heavy is the stand itself, as opposed to the rated load?
Stand weight is the frame you carry. On these listings that figure is 12.3 kg for the BORA, 9.5 kg for the MSS 1608, 12.5 kg for the MSS 1610, 13 kg for the Draper and 24.4 kg for the Bosch. Rated load is what the frame is claimed to hold, including the saw where the source says so. The EVOMS1 and Plus amazon files do not state a stand weight.
When does PUWER apply to a stand at home?
Regulation 20 of the 1998 regulations is an employer duty to stabilise work equipment where safety needs it. A homeowner cutting skirting is not that employer. You still fasten the saw and lock the legs. If people you employ will use the stand, the assessment belongs to the person who owns that duty, not to a product page.
