Corded or cordless DeWalt mitre saw

Updated: 21 October 2026

Buy the cordless DeWalt mitre saw when you already own 18 V XR packs and the board fits inside 50 mm by 250 mm. Buy the mains saw when you do not, because £333.99 is not a kit. On amazon.co.uk on 19 October 2026 the bare DCS365N-XJ is £333.99 and the DWS774-GB is £269.90. One box can cut today. The other still needs a battery and a charger. The [DeWalt mitre saw comparison](/hub/power-saws/de-walt-mitre-saw) lines the listings up. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What £333.99 does not include

The DCS365N-XJ title says tool only, and the included-components line is the mitre saw. DeWalt's UK page says batteries and charger are sold separately. Screwfix listed the same bare code at £389.89. That is a different shelf, not a battery in the amazon box. The DWS774 at £269.90 is a 230 V, 1400 W saw, and its manual specifies a 13 A fuse for the UK plug. If the first XR pack is still on your list, the corded saw is the lower known spend. The buying guide is where the DWS774 and the DWS777 split on width.

When the batteries you own change the sum

The arithmetic changes when the packs are already on the shelf. In that case £333.99 is the saw. The fit is DeWalt 18 V XR. A pack from another brand, and a 54 V FlexVolt pack, are not the batteries this listing is sold around. Screwfix shows a bare 54 V DCS777 at £459.99. That model is not the ASIN in this comparison. Screwfix also lists a DCS365M2 with two 4.0 Ah batteries at £519.99, which is a different product, not a correction of the amazon bare price. The best DeWalt mitre saw page names the DCS365 only when the packs are owned and the cut fits 50 mm by 250 mm.

Runtime claims are not one number

DeWalt UK says the DCS365 will make up to 535 cuts in 82 mm skirting on one 4 Ah XR pack. Screwfix, for the same bare saw, says about 250 cuts in 82 by 15 mm MDF skirting on a 4.0 Ah pack. Those sentences describe different cuts. Averaging them would invent a third test. The cordless cross cut DeWalt states is 50 mm by 250 mm at 90 degrees. The DWS774 manual states 60 mm by 250 mm, and the amazon bullets say 62 mm by 250 mm. Whether 82 mm skirting can stand on edge is answered on the skirting page.

The corded listing that asks for a battery

Both corded amazon listings still carry a row that says a lithium-ion battery is required. That row is wrong for the DWS774 and the DWS777. The DWS774 is 230 V and 1400 W. The DWS777 title says 1600 W and 240 V, while its item type says 1800 W. On the DCS365, battery required agrees with tool only. On the corded saws it contradicts the voltage in the title. 590 W on the cordless listing is not a motor rating supported by the DeWalt page used here, and Wood & Metal is not a reason to cut steel.

Common questions

Is £333.99 the price to start cutting?
It is the price of the saw. The DCS365N-XJ on amazon.co.uk is tool only, and DeWalt UK says the battery and charger are sold separately. You start cutting at £333.99 only when an 18 V XR pack is already charged. Otherwise the DWS774 at £269.90 is the listing that includes the means to run the blade. A lone battery price is not verified in this extract, so it is not added here.
What if I already own 18 V XR packs?
Then the bare saw can be the better buy, provided the work fits 50 mm by 250 mm at 90 degrees. Reviews cite skirting, laminate and second fix on packs the buyer already owned. You still get the fence gap those reviews mention, no trench cut, and, on Screwfix's page, no brake.
Will a FlexVolt or another brand's battery fit?
This comparison treats the DCS365 as an 18 V XR tool. The 54 V DCS777 on Screwfix, bare at £459.99, is a different saw. Another brand's pack is not the system DeWalt states for this model. If your batteries are the wrong voltage, price a mains saw or a genuine kit as its own purchase.
Is the cordless saw as powerful as the 1400 W saw?
The DWS774 is specified as 1400 W at 230 V. The DCS365 listing shows a 590 W row that no DeWalt page in this extract supports, so that number is not its motor rating. Compare the cut: 50 mm by 250 mm on the cordless saw against 60 mm or 62 mm by 250 mm on the DWS774, and whether a pack is already in the house.
Why do the corded pages mention batteries?
Because the amazon specification row is wrong. The DWS774 and the DWS777 are corded, on 230 V and 240 V, and the DWS774 manual speaks of a 13 A fuse in a UK plug. The battery row belongs to the bare DCS365, where the title already says tool only. Ignore it on the mains listings.
How many cuts per charge should I expect?
Use the claim that matches the cut, and do not merge them. A smaller pack, a dull blade or a deeper board will change the day. For a long session with no spare pack, the corded saw is the predictable one.
