For a first corded saw, the DWS774

For a first corded saw in a home workshop, the DWS774-GB is the one with a price that already includes the motor and a review file large enough to read. The listing is 230 V and 1400 W, with a 216 mm blade. The manual sheet states a 30 mm bore, a 13 A fuse in the UK plug, a single bevel to 48 degrees on the left, and a cross cut of 60 mm by 250 mm. The amazon bullets say 62 mm by 250 mm. Reviewers in that 612-rating file say there is no depth stop, and they call the clamp poor. The buying guide keeps the trade-offs in order if you are not ready to commit.

For a room with no socket, the bare DCS365

The DCS365N-XJ is the best DeWalt mitre saw in this set when the socket is the obstacle and the packs are already on the shelf. The amazon.co.uk price of £333.99 on 19 October 2026 is the saw alone. We do not have a verified price for a lone pack, and we will not invent one. A two-battery DCS365 kit at £519.99 on Screwfix is a different product. The saw is 18 V XR, with a 184 mm blade and a 16 mm bore. DeWalt states 50 mm by 250 mm at 90 degrees. UK reviews say the fences sit too far apart. There is no trench feature, and Screwfix states there is no brake. The corded or cordless page stays on that axis.

For a wider cut, the DWS777, with the thin file

Choose the DWS777 when you want more width than the DWS774's 250 mm and you will treat twelve ratings as a thin file. On amazon.co.uk it is £324.85, the title says 1600 W and 240 V, and the item type says 1800 W. The bullets do not print a cross-cut capacity. Screwfix, on the DWS777-GB code, states about 265 mm by 62 mm, 1800 W, a 216 mm blade, a 30 mm bore and no trench, at £359.99. The dewalt.co.uk line that says 1675 W and 305 mm by 77 mm is a different claim, and this page does not use it. One buyer found it out of square from the box. The foot holes were M8 rather than M6. Three texts are not a record you can set beside 612 ratings.

Who should skip all three

Leave all three on the shelf when the joint needs a depth stop. Reviews on the DWS774 and the DCS365, and the Screwfix page on the DWS777, say there is no trench cut. Leave them when the supply is a 110 V site transformer. These corded listings are 230 V and 240 V, with a BS 1363 plug on the DWS774. Leave them when people are employed to use the saw and nobody has assessed wood dust or noise.

Common questions

Which DeWalt mitre saw should I buy for ordinary DIY?
For ordinary boards in a UK home with a 13 A socket, buy the DWS774-GB. On 19 October 2026 it is £269.90 on amazon.co.uk, with 4.7 from 612 ratings, a 216 mm blade and a manual cross cut of 60 mm by 250 mm.
Is the DWS777 better because some catalogues say 1800 W?
A higher wattage on one row does not make the DWS777 the better saw. Amazon's own listing disagrees with itself: the title says 1600 W and the item type says 1800 W. Screwfix prints 1800 W and about 265 mm by 62 mm. The review file is 12 ratings and three texts, and one of those texts says the saw arrived out of square.
Is the cordless saw the best because it has no cable?
No cable is an advantage only when the battery is already yours. The DCS365N-XJ at £333.99 is tool only, with a stated cut of 50 mm by 250 mm. If you still have to buy a pack and a charger, the DWS774 at £269.90 is the complete saw at a lower shelf price, and it claims more cutting height.
Does 4.7 mean these DeWalt mitre saws are equal?
The star rating matches and the evidence does not. The DWS774 has 612 ratings, the DCS365 has 557, and the DWS777 has 12 ratings with three review texts in the raw file. A 4.7 on twelve ratings cannot carry the same weight as a 4.7 on several hundred.
What if I need a depth stop, or a 110 V saw?
None of these three is the saw for dados or lap joints. Reviews and the Screwfix DWS777 page say there is no trench cut. A 110 V DWS774-LX appears in at least one UK round-up and is not an ASIN here. The 54 V FlexVolt saw is a different model as well. If the job is metal, stop: the DWS774 manual is for wood, wood products and plastics.
