Cordless paint sprayer buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You want a fence or a shed finished without a weekend of brushing, and amazon.co.uk has mixed three tools into one search. A battery handheld, a bare 18 V body and an airless kit are not the same purchase. This cordless paint sprayer buying guide uses the seven listings in our [cordless paint spray gun comparison](/hub/painting-supplies/cordless-paint-spray-gun) so you choose a supply pattern and a container before you sort by stars. Prices and ratings are from those amazon.co.uk pages on 15 October 2026. No lab test was run for this page. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Three tools the search glues together

The handhelds in this folder run from a pack or a small cell. You do not add a compressor. A compressor gun needs shop air, and none of these titles is that machine. Airless is a third tool. Wagner’s Control Pro 300 Move 18 V page states 110 bar, and Screwfix lists a Wagner 18 V airless kit at £729.99 including VAT. You cannot copy that figure onto a £29.99 cup gun. Branded 18 V sprayers in the same search are not rows here. Einhell’s TC-SY 18/60 Li is a Power X-Change bare gun, and Bosch’s UniversalSpray 18V-300 is sold in the UK without a battery. Named rows from the seven sit on the best cordless paint sprayer page, still without a workshop crown.

Own packs, a Makita body, or tiny bottles

Own-pack guns claim the cells are in the kit. ToCzernobgol’s JH-12Z is £99.99 with 1200 ml. The bullet lists two 4000 mAh packs, the voltage is not stated, and the components field says Spray Gun only. Helangel at £33.99 and SenDeluz at £29.99 are both 21 V, with two 3000 mAh packs and 900 ml. Cepolawa is £39.99 with two 2000 mAh packs and 1200 ml. Helangel’s item-type cell still names a 630 W 240 V model. Treat that as a bad cell, not as the gun in the title. Makita-shaped bodies are the second pattern. Tilswall’s Shark700 is £66.48 and Longzhuo’s GWD0017-0 is £19.99. Both titles say Makita 18 V and no battery. That check is the bare tool or kit page. Lionbow’s P03 is the third pattern: £35.99, a stated 413 g, and 60 ml and 24 ml bottles. The bullets name car touch-up, cabinets and crafts, not a fence panel. That job belongs on the cordless fence paint sprayer page.

What the letters HVLP do not prove

HVLP on these titles is a label, not a measured pressure. Wagner’s UK guide describes it as a high volume of air at low pressure. These seven files print the letters and no bar figure. You cannot tick a pressure standard from the word, and you should not set the gun from an airless chart. The charger is the part that meets UK mains rules. Under the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, regulation 3, an 18 V or 21 V gun sits outside the voltage window used for mains equipment. A 230 V charger does not. None of the seven files describes the plug, so you check the charger in the box rather than assuming a BS 1363 pin from the title.

What £20, £40 and £100 buy here

On 15 October 2026 the seven listings ran from £19.99 to £99.99. That spread is not a winner’s ladder, and it does not include the £729.99 airless kit. Around £20 you get a bare Makita body and a thin review file. Around £30 to £40 the own-pack kits and the touch-up gun sit together. At £66.48 Tilswall is still a bare body. At £99.99 ToCzernobgol is the dearest handheld here. Paying more buys a larger claimed pack or a thicker review file, not a certified pressure.

Questions to settle before you buy

The coating comes first. A brush-only fence preservative will clog a cup even when the gun is sound. Brand rules and minutes per pack sit on the fence page. The box comes third. Tilswall and Longzhuo omit the battery. ToCzernobgol’s bullet and its components field disagree. Helangel and SenDeluz can look alike and they remain separate ASINs.

Common questions

Does a cordless paint sprayer need a compressor?
No. These seven guns run from a pack or a charging cable. A compressor spray gun is a separate tool that uses shop air. An 18 V airless sprayer is a third tool: Wagner’s Control Pro 300 Move is described at 110 bar, and a Wagner kit at Screwfix is £729.99 including VAT. An amazon handheld in this comparison is not that kit.
Should I buy packs in the box or a body for batteries I own?
Buy packs in the box if you own no slide-pack platform. Helangel, SenDeluz and Cepolawa name a charger. Buy a bare body only when you already own the packs that listing names. Tilswall at £66.48 and Longzhuo at £19.99 are Makita 18 V with no battery. ToCzernobgol lists two 4000 mAh packs in the bullet, says Spray Gun in the components field, and states no voltage, so it is not a confirmed Makita body.
Will any title that says HVLP meet a pressure standard?
No. These titles print HVLP and no bar figure. Wagner describes HVLP as a high volume of air at low pressure, which is a method, not a stamp. Do not treat the letters as a British Standard test or as an airless tip you can dial into a 21 V gun.
Can the small Lionbow bottles do a fence?
No. The Lionbow P03 lists 60 ml and 24 ml bottles and weighs a stated 413 g. The bullets point at car touch-up, cabinets and crafts. A fence needs a 900–1300 ml container and a tin the maker says is sprayable. Keep Lionbow for a chip or a small craft face.
What if the charger is the only mains part?
The gun stays low voltage and the charger is the UK mains part. Regulation 3 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 leaves 18 V and 21 V equipment outside the mains window. A 230 V charger is still electrical equipment. None of these listings describes the plug, so check the pins on the charger when it arrives.
