Best pocket oscilloscope

Updated: 22 October 2026

Best is a job, not a trophy. If you want the best pocket oscilloscope for a slow hobby signal, a 50 MHz title with no second probe is the wrong winner, and a £25 listing with no probe in the box can be the wrong bargain. This page names a fit among the six amazon.co.uk handhelds on the [handheld oscilloscope comparison](/hub/measuring-equipment/oscilloscope-hand), and who should leave each one on the shelf. Bandwidth and sample rate sit on the [handheld oscilloscope buying guide](/hub/measuring-equipment/oscilloscope-hand/sub/oscilloscope-hand-buying-guide). Peter F. checked the listing figures on 21 October 2026. Nothing was lab-tested. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Best depends on the job

There is no single winner in this set. The amazon.co.uk Lab Oscilloscopes best-seller list on 21 October 2026 mixed a PicoScope 2204A USB scope at £154.80 with other instruments. A USB stick that needs a laptop is not a pick here. You want a reviewed pocket under £40 for signals that fit in 10 MHz, a 50 MHz claim on one channel, or two channels or a meter with the probe count checked. The DSO152 only belongs if 200 kHz is the whole job. A floated view of a consumer unit is none of these titles. A 12 V check is on the oscilloscope for car diagnostics page.

Learning and slow signals

The DSO152 is £25.19 and states 200 kHz and 2.5 MS/s. A probe is not named, and the saved listing has no review line. Buy it when the waveform is slower than 200 kHz and a probe is already on your bench. Leave it when the edge is what you came to see. The BSIDE OT3 at £39.99 states 10 MHz, 48 MSa/s, a BNC probe, an alligator lead, and a case. The listing is 4.6 from 31. United Kingdom texts mention a microcontroller, a combi-boiler line, and a vehicle LIN signal, and one reviewer called it fiddly and not for professional use. Step up to 50 MHz only when the signal needs it.
BSIDE BSIDE O2

Testsieger

BSIDE BSIDE O2
7.4/10about £79.99

One channel at 50 MHz

The BSIDE OT5 is £59.99 and states 50 MHz, 200 MSa/s, and one BNC probe. It does not list an alligator lead. The listing is 5.0 from 1 United Kingdom review, from someone who wanted a single channel. One review cannot decide a category. Compel's sheet says one channel, about ±40 V on x1 and ±400 V on x10. Twenty pounds over the OT3 buys the higher megahertz figure, not a second trace. Choose it when the signal is too quick for 10 MHz and you will watch one point.

Two channels or a meter

The BSIDE O2 at £79.99 states two channels, 50 MHz, 250 MSa/s, and seven waveforms. United Kingdom texts praise the screen and the generator. One buyer needed firmware before single or normal trigger fired. The box lists one BNC probe, so two channels are not yet a comparison. It is the top pick when you want those two channels and you accept nine reviews. The ZOYI ZT-703S at £86.50 is the listing when the meter is the main tool: dual channel, 50 MHz, a 25,000-count True RMS meter, 4.6 from 310. The texts are not labelled United Kingdom, and they call the generator weak. The OT9 at £149.99 lists two BNC probes and a meter, still at 50 MHz, with no review line. If you need a rated mains probe, leave the set.

Common questions

What is the best pocket oscilloscope if I am a beginner?
For a first trace on a slow hobby signal, the OT3 at £39.99 is the listing in this set with a probe, an alligator lead, and several United Kingdom reviews. The DSO152 is cheaper and states 200 kHz, with no probe named and no review line. Beginner does not mean the slowest scope. It means a scope that can show the signal you have, with a lead you can compensate.
When is the OT5 worth more than the OT3?
When you already know you need the 50 MHz claim and you will stay on one channel. The OT5 is £59.99 against £39.99, with one United Kingdom review and no alligator lead in the list. If you are hoping the extra £20 adds a second channel, the listing and that review do not support it.
Which listing is the one with two probes?
The OT9 bullet lists two BNC probes, plus an alligator probe and meter leads, at £149.99. The O2 states two channels and lists one BNC probe. The ZT-703S bullets omit the kit, and reviewers often describe two probes, with one report of a single probe on arrival. Count what is in your parcel.
Is the ZOYI the best value because of the meter?
The meter is the reason to look at the ZT-703S, at £86.50, if you want a number and a waveform together. The 4.6 from 310 is the amazon.co.uk line. The texts in the file are not a United Kingdom sample, and they call the generator weak. The OT3 remains the better value when you only needed a 10 MHz trace and a probe under £40.
Why is a five-star score from one review not decisive?
The OT5 is 5.0 from 1. The O2 is 5.0 from 9. A single five-star text can be sincere and still tell you nothing about the next unit, the trigger, or the battery after a month. The OT3's 4.6 from 31, with United Kingdom texts, is a firmer sample than a perfect score from one person.
