Top pick: WINCHMAX 5000 lb Dyneema – Highest score at 100: 5,000 lb, 15.2 m of 6.3 mm Dyneema and 5.0 from 10 reviews, when you want a rope you can measure. Best value: Stealth 3500 lb synthetic – Score 92 at about £139.99, with 4.6 from 112 reviews and plates included, if you accept that rope length is not printed. Updated October 2026.
A 12 V winch on amazon.co.uk is a battery-powered pulling machine for a quad, a trailer, a boat ramp or a light recovery. It is not a crane and it is not a 230 V hoist. Stated line pull runs from 2,000 lb to 13,500 lb. That pound figure is a bare-drum catalogue rating, and it falls as the drum fills. Quality shows up as a clear rope specification, a stated bolt pattern, powered in and out, and a review record that matches the job. How to read pull, rope, mount and duty is set out in the [Winch 12 V buying guide](/hub/lifting-equipment/winch-12v/sub/winch-12v-buying-guide).
Blackdown says about 10–12% is lost for each extra layer of rope, so a full drum is a smaller pull than the title. Penny treats an electric winch as intermittent and works rolling resistance from weight, surface and gradient. A 3,500 lb title is not a 3,500 lb vehicle in mud.

WINCHMAX WM500012VSYN is the clearest synthetic spec in the comparison at £219.95: 5,000 lb straight-line pull, 15.2 m x 6.3 mm Dyneema, a 1.5 hp permanent-magnet motor, and 5.0 stars from ten reviews in the capture, including UK buyers who preferred the rope to steel wire on trailer work. Control is a rocker switch on a 2.5 m lead with a handlebar bracket, not the twin-handset layout on the 3,000 lb WINCHMAX, and wireless remote is not mentioned. Battery cables of 180 cm and 90 cm are listed, yet a winch mounting plate is not named, so you may still need a plate or custom mount for a trailer post. Mainland UK delivery limits appear in the listing text, which matters if you check out from Northern Ireland or offshore. It is our top pick in this table when you want rated pull plus a rope you can measure before the first ramp.
Pros
15.2 m x 6.3 mm Dyneema with hook stated on the page
5.0 from 10 reviews; UK text favours rope over wire
5,000 lb class with 1.5 hp motor and long battery cables listed
Cons
Only ten reviews; thin compared with Stealth 3,500 lb
No winch mounting plate named in included components
Rocker control only; no wireless remote on the listing
Best for: You want a 5,000 lb trailer or utility winch with a fully specified Dyneema line and will source or confirm a mount plate.
Less suitable: You need wireless control from the cab or a sub-£150 price before adding a plate.
WINCHMAX WM300012VR at £149.95 pairs a 3,000 lb rating with 15.5 m x 5 mm galvanised steel, a G70 clevis hook, twin wireless handsets, a 2.5 m rocker lead, and a fairlead in the included-components line, which makes it one of the few listings here where rope, hook and control are all spelled out. Stars sit at 4.7 from 22 reviews, mostly short UK praise without much fault detail in the capture. IP67 is claimed for the solenoid only, not the whole winch, which is honest scope but still not a substitute for keeping connectors dry on a wet ramp. A mounting plate is not named, so trailer builders should confirm the foot pattern before drilling. It is the steel-line counterpart to the 5,000 lb Dyneema WINCHMAX when you want galvanised wire and remotes without stepping to the heaviest class.
Pros
15.5 m x 5 mm galvanised steel and G70 hook stated
4.7 from 22 reviews with twin wireless handsets
Fairlead included; IP67 claimed on the solenoid
Cons
Mounting plate not listed in included components
IP67 applies to solenoid, not the entire winch
UK reviews are brief with little long-term fault data
Best for: You want a specified steel cable for a boat trailer or ATV at mid price with wireless and wired control.
Less suitable: You need synthetic rope, a named mount plate, or whole-winch waterproof certification.
Stealth ST35STA12 is the Stealth 3,500 lb listing at £139.99 with 4.6 stars from 112 amazon.co.uk reviews, which is one of the stronger review lines in this comparison for trailer and ramp work. UK buyers describe pulling motorbikes, Ifor Williams trailers and light recovery jobs with both the wired hand control and the wireless remotes, and the reversible motor powers the rope in and out with a freespool clutch for manual payout. The mount plates on a 79.5 mm pattern are included, which saves a separate plate hunt, though that pattern is not the same as the larger Stealth 4,500 lb winch in the table. What the page will not give you is rope length or diameter, and several UK Stealth reviews still treat the first-layer pull as a hard limit on a full drum. If you need a printed metre count before you buy, compare the WINCHMAX listings instead of guessing here.
Pros
4.6 from 112 UK-weighted reviews in the capture
Reversible motor with wired and two wireless controls
Mounting plates included on a stated 79.5 mm pattern
Sealed solenoid and a mid-tier price at £139.99
Cons
Synthetic rope length and diameter not stated
79.5 mm mount differs from the Stealth 4,500 lb pattern
No IP code on the whole winch, only a sealed solenoid claim
Best for: You want a well-reviewed 3,500 lb synthetic winch for a quad, a light trailer or a private ramp and will confirm rope length on arrival.
Less suitable: You must know rope length before checkout or you already own a 168 mm Stealth plate from another model.
RUGCEL 2500LB-NEW sits at £101.99 with 4.5 stars from only 21 reviews, which looks healthy until you read the single detailed UK return in the file: the buyer connected 12 V, saw a large current draw, and the motor never turned before the unit went back. The listing pairs steel wire rope with a roller fairlead, which matches the usual shop advice for steel, but it does not print cable length or diameter, and the motor field is blank. You get a wired remote and a mount plate with an unstated bolt pattern, all in a relatively light 7.35 kg package. The star line is too thin to treat 4.5 as proof of reliability, especially with a documented locked rotor on the only UK fault report we captured. Compare Stealth or WINCHMAX if you want more review depth before you mount a winch on a trailer post.
Pros
2,500 lb class with roller fairlead and mount plate in the box
Wired remote included at a mid-low price
Lightest fixed winch in the set at 7.35 kg
Cons
Only 21 reviews; one UK buyer reported a locked motor on first use
Steel rope length and diameter not stated
Motor specification missing on the page
Best for: You want a compact 2,500 lb steel-cable winch for a very light rolling trailer and will bench-test it before the ramp.
Less suitable: You need evidence beyond 21 stars or you cannot afford a dead-on-arrival motor on launch day.
FLASHEVER AAMAAT01063-FE sells at £163.99 with 4.5 stars from only three UK reviews, which is a strong average on tiny volume. The listing includes 12 m synthetic rope, four-way rollers, two wireless remotes with built-in batteries, plus a wired remote, and an IP67 claim that mentions short submersion without a depth or time code. Those three UK reviews repeat practical warnings: battery leads are short, setup is not plug-and-play, and one buyer used it on a loaded trailer successfully after wrestling the wiring. Synthetic plus roller fairlead is the same pairing questioned on the UtaUla page, so treat the rollers as a wear point you inspect after the first sessions. It is a feature-rich 4,500 lb option if you extend leads properly and accept almost no star depth.
Pros
12 m synthetic rope and remotes with batteries included
4.5 average on three UK reviews with a loaded-trailer success story
IP67 claim and 1400 W copper motor stated
Cons
Only three reviews on amazon.co.uk in the capture
UK buyers report short battery leads and fiddly setup
Synthetic rope listed with roller fairlead
Best for: You want a fully featured 4,500 lb synthetic winch and will extend heavy-gauge leads before the first ramp.
Less suitable: You decide on stars alone or you refuse synthetic on rollers without a hawse swap.
RUGCEL TANK 13500 is the heavy outlier at £399.99 with a 13,500 lb title, a 7.2 hp series-wound motor, 26 m x 11 mm nylon rope, and 4.4 stars from 374 reviews that mix UK and non-UK voices. The printed dimensions of 530 x 20 x 20 cm at 29 kg are almost certainly a listing error, so treat physical size as unknown until you measure the crate. UK reviewers praise power but also report a missing L-shaped wire guide and silence from the seller, which matters on a drum this wide. This is the only listing in the set that sits in the seller band many UK shops quote for mid-size 4x4 recovery, yet it is still a catalogue pound figure on the first layer, not a tested safe working load for your vehicle. Buy it when you genuinely need that capacity class and will verify hardware on delivery, not because the number looks impressive on a jet-ski trailer.
Pros
13,500 lb rating and 7.2 hp series-wound motor for heavy recovery class
26 m x 11 mm nylon rope with a long reach stated
4.4 from 374 reviews, many detailed international texts
Cons
Absurd 530 cm dimension line on the listing
UK review reports missing L-shaped guide and no seller reply
29 kg unit; overkill and awkward for light trailer-only jobs
Best for: You run a heavier 4x4 or recovery setup that needs a high catalogue pull and you will confirm parts and size on arrival.
Less suitable: You only launch a small boat on a roller trailer or you need a compact post-mounted winch.
Stealth STS12 is the 4,500 lb sibling at £169.99 with 4.4 stars from 105 reviews and the same control layout as the 3,500 lb model: two wireless remotes and a 3.9 m wired hand control on a reversible 1.41 hp motor. UK reviewers in the capture used it on boat trailers and heavier ramps, but the same thread mentions a control box that worked loose, rain reaching uncovered connectors, a rope that broke under load, and a casting failure on a snagged tree. The mount is 168 mm by 76.2 mm, not the 79.5 mm pattern on the smaller Stealth, so you cannot swap plates between the two listings without drilling anew. Synthetic rope is included, yet length and diameter are still absent from the specification block. Step up to this class when the 3,500 lb title feels tight, but budget time to secure the electrics and inspect the rope before the first heavy pull.
Pros
4,500 lb rated pull with 4.4 from 105 reviews
Same dual-remote plus wired control package as the 3,500 lb Stealth
Mount plate included on a stated 168 mm x 76.2 mm pattern
Higher line speeds printed than the 3,500 lb model
Cons
UK reports of a loose control box and wet connectors
Rope length not stated; one UK review reports a break
Different bolt pattern from the Stealth 3,500 lb winch
Best for: You need more first-layer pull than 3,500 lb for a boat trailer or ATV recovery and will tie down the control box and fairlead.
Less suitable: You wanted a drop-in upgrade on an existing 79.5 mm Stealth plate or a listing with a printed rope length.
RUGCEL TK4500 is the portable toolbox winch at £329.99 with 4.3 stars from 214 reviews, synthetic rope, a hawse fairlead, and a steel mounting plate rather than a bumper-fixed kit. UK reviewers describe pulling a car up a steep drive and a boat of about 220 kg on a concrete ramp at roughly thirty degrees, coping but not easily, with complaints about short wireless range. The listing calls the kit waterproof without an IP code and does not print rope length, though one UK review mentions about 15 m, which is anecdote not specification. You still need a solid anchor point because the toolbox format is meant to move between jobs, not replace a rated recovery point on the public road. Choose it when storage and hawse-led synthetic matter more than the lowest pounds per rated pull.
Pros
4.3 from 214 reviews with documented ramp and drive uses
Portable toolbox with hawse fairlead and steel plate
4,500 lb class without permanent vehicle mounting
Cons
Rope length absent from listing fields
UK reviewers cite short remote range and hard work on ~30° ramps
Waterproof claim without IP testing cited
Best for: You want a storable 4,500 lb winch for occasional ramp and drive pulls where you can place a ground anchor.
Less suitable: You need a fixed bumper winch, a printed rope length, or effortless control from far up the ramp.
ZESUPER USAM-SPEW024 is priced at £98.98 with 4.1 stars from 110 reviews, a 1.1 hp motor, IP66 sealing, and both wireless and wired control claimed on the page. The title says 2,500 lb while the size field says 3,000 lb and 30 ft of nylon rope, so you must decide which figure you believe before you size a trailer job. UK reviews split on whether the wireless remote arrived; one buyer reported it missing, another used it successfully. Line speeds are printed in feet per minute, which helps compare against metric listings, but rope diameter is still absent. It is a plausible light trailer and ATV winch if you reconcile the capacity conflict and check the remote in the box on delivery, not a substitute for a fully specified WINCHMAX steel line.
Pros
4.1 from 110 reviews at under £100
IP66 claim and printed line speeds in ft/min
Mount plate included; relatively light at 6.35 kg
Cons
2,500 lb title conflicts with a 3,000 lb size field
UK review split on whether the wireless remote ships
Nylon rope diameter not stated
Best for: You want a budget synthetic winch for a light boat or trailer and will verify capacity wording and the remote on unboxing.
Less suitable: You need one undisputed pound rating or a steel cable spec for abrasive ground.
JAOGAUS DDJ01 is a 3,500 lb steel-cable winch at £113.89 with 5 mm x 10 m wire, an IP65 motor claim, and a weak 3.6-star line from 25 reviews, the lowest scored listing here that still carries a star summary. UK buyers mention cracked connector ports, screws that stripped in the housing, and the usual complaint that the 12 V 23A remote battery is not in the box. The page also fights itself on weight and dimensions, printing both 7.16 kg with 37 x 22 x 14 cm and a bullet at 8.4 kg with 400 x 280 x 180 mm. One bullet says the winch is mainly for ATVs and light UTVs and not suitable for car or boat towing, yet another UK review still bought it for a boat trailer, which tells you the marketing line is not the whole story. Unless you need the 10 m steel spec at this price and accept rework on the electrics, the Stealth 3,500 lb or WINCHMAX 3,000 lb are safer starting points.
Pros
10 m x 5 mm steel cable stated with a 3,500 lb rating
IP65 claimed on the motor at under £115
Wireless and manual control described on the page
Cons
3.6 from 25 reviews with UK reports of cracked ports and weak screws
Conflicting weight and dimension lines on the same listing
Seller bullet excludes car and boat towing while reviews disagree
Best for: You want a budget 3,500 lb steel winch for an ATV and will replace hardware and extend leads before trusting it.
Less suitable: You are loading a boat trailer on trust in the star line or you need one clear weight figure for a custom mount.
Neilsen CT0711 is the entry price at £69.08 with a clear 15 m x 4 mm steel cable and a 2,000 lb horizontal rating on the page, which makes it tempting if you only look at pounds per metre of wire. The raw amazon.co.uk file captured for this comparison has UK review text but no Customer Reviews star line, so you are buying on listing fields and a handful of anecdotes, not a crowd score. UK reviewers who did buy it describe pulling a speedboat up a drive with a jockey wheel, keeping the car engine running because the power lead is short, and paying out cable by hand because the listing does not promise powered reverse. The printed dimensions of 1 x 1 x 1 cm at 11 kg are obviously wrong, which is a warning that other fields may not have been checked either. Treat it as a budget horizontal puller for a rolling trailer job, not as a recovery winch with powered payout.
Pros
Lowest shelf price in the set at £69.08
15 m x 4 mm steel cable stated on the page
2.3 hp motor and a 2,000 lb horizontal rating printed
Cons
No amazon.co.uk star summary in the captured file
UK reviews report manual payout and no reverse gear
Absurd dimension line and no mount pattern stated
Best for: You need a cheap horizontal pull on a short private ramp, will run the engine for battery support, and accept manual cable payout.
Less suitable: You want powered spool-out, a trustworthy star line, or a mounting spec you can bolt to a plate tonight.
UtaUla AB053A0U1 asks £149.99 for a 4,500 lb winch with 12 m of synthetic rope, a 1400 W copper motor, and an IP67 claim plus a splash-proof control box, which reads well on paper. The capture file has no amazon.co.uk Customer Reviews line at all, so the comparison score here is listing completeness only, not buyer satisfaction. You also get two wireless remotes and a wired controller, with a mount plate whose bolt pattern is unstated. The listing ships synthetic rope with a four-way roller fairlead, which many UK shops warn against because rollers can pinch soft line, so you should plan inspection and possibly a hawse if abrasion shows early. Without stars or UK fault themes, this is a specification-led gamble next to Stealth and WINCHMAX entries that do carry review history.
Pros
12 m synthetic rope with length printed, rare in this set
4,500 lb rating with dual wireless plus wired controls
IP67 and splash-proof control box claimed
Cons
No amazon.co.uk review summary in the captured listing
Synthetic rope paired with roller fairlead on the page
Mount bolt pattern not stated
Best for: You prioritise a printed 12 m synthetic spec and will test the fairlead before heavy pulls, accepting zero star history.
Less suitable: You will not buy without UK review evidence or you want a hawse matched to synthetic from the factory.
The listing says 12 m of synthetic rope, with a 4-way roller fairlead.
Is there a star rating?
No. The saved listing has a best-seller rank and no customer-review line.
What does the waterproof line actually say?
It claims IP67, and it also calls the control box splash-proof. No depth or time is given.
How we compared
Scores use the twelve amazon.co.uk listings captured on 19 October 2026. Shelf price, the stated pull, whether rope length and diameter are printed, control, mount and the review line are the inputs. This is not a lab test, and none of the twelve pages prints motor current in amps. The highest score is the top pick. Best value is a different product.
1
Rated pull
25%
The pound figure is a bare-drum catalogue rating. Blackdown Off Road says about 10–12% is lost for each extra layer. Penny Hydraulics treats an electric winch as intermittent and works resistance from weight, surface and gradient. A 3,500 lb title is not a 3,500 lb car in mud.
2
Rope and fairlead
25%
A stated length and diameter scores higher than a rope type with no length. Synthetic or Dyneema is lighter and has no steel splinters. Steel tolerates abrasion. Novawinch pairs synthetic with a hawse and steel with rollers.
3
Control and direction
20%
Powered in and out, a freespool clutch where you pay line out by hand, and a remote that still lets you see the rope. A listing that does not promise reverse, or a remote battery left out of the box, scores lower.
4
Mount, leads and duty
15%
A printed bolt pattern and leads long enough for the battery. Stealth prints 79.5 mm on the 3,500 lb model and 168 mm by 76.2 mm on the 4,500 lb model. Short battery leads are a repeated UK complaint. No listing prints amps.
5
Listing honesty
15%
One rope specification, and an amazon.co.uk star line you can read. A missing review summary is not treated as five stars. Reviews from outside the UK are not treated as British experience. Conflicting capacity or dimension lines count against the page.

Winch 12V buying guide
Match the stated pull to the resistance you will actually meet, then check that the listing prints a rope you can measure. A bare-drum pound figure is not the weight of the vehicle, and a waterproof adjective is not a fording depth.
What to check before you buy a 12V winch
A 12 V winch pulls. It does not replace a crane, and it is not a 230 V hoist. On these twelve amazon.co.uk listings the stated pull runs from 2,000 lb to 13,500 lb, and the shelf prices on 19 October 2026 run from about £69.08 to £399.99. The pound figure is the maker’s maximum on a bare drum. Blackdown Off Road says about 10–12% is lost for each extra layer of rope, so a full drum is a smaller pull than the title.
Best for
A trailer or boat owner who will respect the first rope layer and a private ramp
An ATV user who needs a compact mount and a stated bolt pattern
Not ideal for
A stuck family 4x4, if you are about to buy a 2,000–5,000 lb title for that job
Anyone who needs the winch to lift a load, or to recover a vehicle in a live lane
Mistakes to avoid
1
Reading the pound title as vehicle weight
The figure is the maximum on a bare drum. Blackdown Off Road puts the loss at about 10–12% per extra layer. Penny Hydraulics works resistance from weight, surface and gradient. A full drum, or a vehicle in mud, is a smaller pull than the title.
2
Pairing rollers with synthetic rope without checking
Novawinch pairs synthetic rope with a hawse and steel cable with rollers. UtaUla and FLASHEVER print synthetic rope with rollers. Read the rope instruction, and inspect the line if the rollers can pinch it.
3
Using the winch as a hoist or in a live lane
Ground winching is pulling. Lifting a load at work brings LOLER duties. Highway Code rules 275–287 say get a broken-down vehicle to relative safety and get help. Do not plan a DIY recovery in a motorway live lane, and do not lengthen battery leads with thin cable.
What to weigh up
Rated pull against the real resistance
High
Makers quote the maximum on a bare drum. Blackdown Off Road says about 10–12% is lost for each extra layer, so winching on a full drum is a smaller pull than the title. Penny Hydraulics treats electric winches as intermittent and calculates rolling resistance from weight, surface and gradient. In this set the titles run from the Neilsen at 2,000 lb to the RUGCEL at 13,500 lb. A 3,500 lb Stealth title does not mean a 3,500 lb car in mud.
A rope specification the page agrees on
High
Prefer one length and one diameter. WINCHMAX prints 15.2 m of 6.3 mm Dyneema on the 5,000 lb model and 15.5 m of 5 mm galvanised steel on the 3,000 lb model. Neilsen prints 15 m of 4 mm steel. JAOGAUS prints 10 m of 5 mm steel, and also prints two weights. ZESUPER’s title says 2,500 lb and the size field says 3,000 lb, with 30 ft of nylon and no diameter. Stealth states synthetic rope and no length on both the 3,500 lb and 4,500 lb pages.
Which option suits you?
Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.
🚤
Boat or trailer owner
You pull a boat or a light trailer up a private ramp and you want the rope measured before the first launch. WINCHMAX 5,000 lb Dyneema is the top pick: about £219.95, 15.2 m of 6.3 mm Dyneema, 5.0 from 10 reviews. A mounting plate is not named, and control is a rocker on a 2.5 m lead.
You want a well-reviewed 3,500 lb synthetic winch and you will check rope length on arrival. Stealth 3,500 lb synthetic is best value: about £139.99, 4.6 from 112 reviews, wired and two wireless controls, plates on a 79.5 mm pattern. That pattern does not match the Stealth 4,500 lb winch.
You need a catalogue pull in the band Novawinch associates with 4x4s, about 9,500–12,500 lb, and you will confirm parts on delivery. RUGCEL 13500 lb nylon is the only listing here in that class: about £399.99, 26 m of 11 mm nylon, 4.4 from 374 reviews. The 530 cm dimension line is not usable.
The top pick is the WINCHMAX 5,000 lb Dyneema winch (B09MQRPHP8) at about £219.95. It scores 100, the highest of these twelve, with a 5,000 lb straight-line rating, 15.2 m of 6.3 mm Dyneema, a 1.5 hp motor and 5.0 from 10 reviews. Control is a rocker on a 2.5 m lead. A winch mounting plate is not named, and the listing says some deliveries stop at mainland UK. This is the seller’s figure, not a pull we measured. Best value is a different listing.
Which 12V winch is best value?
Best value is the Stealth 3,500 lb synthetic winch (B09M8TPVY6) at about £139.99, score 92. amazon.co.uk shows 4.6 from 112 reviews. The page states a 1.31 hp reversible motor, two wireless remotes, a 3.9 m wired control, and mounting plates on a 79.5 mm pattern. Synthetic rope is included, and length and diameter are not printed. That bolt pattern is not the 168 mm by 76.2 mm pattern on the Stealth 4,500 lb winch. Check the rope when it arrives.
Does the stated pull equal the weight of the vehicle?
No. The pound figure on these listings is a bare-drum catalogue rating, not your vehicle’s weight, and this comparison did not measure it. Blackdown Off Road says makers quote the maximum on a bare drum and that about 10–12% is lost for each extra layer. Penny Hydraulics treats electric winches as intermittent and calculates rolling resistance from weight, surface and gradient. A 3,500 lb title does not mean a 3,500 lb car in mud. A full drum pulls less than the number in the title.
Should you choose synthetic rope or steel cable?
Synthetic rope, including Dyneema and nylon, is lighter and does not throw steel splinters. Steel cable tolerates abrasion and can throw broken wires if it fails. Novawinch pairs synthetic rope with a hawse and steel cable with rollers. Here the WINCHMAX 5,000 lb listing states 15.2 m of 6.3 mm Dyneema, and the WINCHMAX 3,000 lb listing states 15.5 m of 5 mm galvanised steel. UtaUla and FLASHEVER print synthetic rope with rollers, so read the rope instruction. The material choice is set out in synthetic or steel rope.
Does LOLER apply to a household 12V winch?
It depends on the job. At work, LOLER 1998 applies when equipment lifts or lowers a load. HSE guidance in L113 says winching a load that stays on the ground is pulling, so LOLER does not apply, and PUWER still does. If the winch lifts a load, safe working load marking, planning and thorough examination apply, often every 12 months, or every 6 months where people and lifting accessories are involved. A householder on their own drive is not an employer. A farm, workshop or recovery firm can be. Do not use a trailer winch as a hoist.
Can you recover a car on the public road with one of these?
Do not plan a DIY winch recovery in a live lane. Highway Code rules 275–287 say get the vehicle to a place of relative safety and get help. A 2,000–5,000 lb listing is not the class Novawinch associates with a typical 4x4, about 9,500–12,500 lb of rated pull. The only listing here in that heavier band is the RUGCEL 13,500 lb winch, and that figure is still the seller’s first-layer rating, not a tested safe working load. Call a recovery operator when the vehicle is on the public road.
Is a 12V winch the same as the other winches on this site?
No. A 12 V winch in this table is a battery-powered drum for a quad, a trailer, a ramp or a light recovery. A hand-cranked drum, a belt winch or another winch type is a different comparison. Those listings sit in the winch comparison. Use this page when the motor is 12 V DC and you are choosing rope, pull and mount.
