Makita strimmer blade or line

Updated: October 2026

The carton includes a circular saw disc, or the edge has turned into brambles. A Makita strimmer blade or line is not one accessory with two names. On a DUR192 the cutting tool is nylon, and the symbol panel forbids a metal blade and a plastic blade. On a DUR190 the manual names certain blades as well as the line. Several sticks in our [Makita grass trimmer comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/makita-grass-trimmer) add a saw disc the listing does not show Makita approved. Products Compared read the manuals, the HSE bulletin and the listings on 22 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Nylon is the lawn tool

For a lawn edge, nylon is the cutting tool. The DUR192L manual limits the head to nylon, 300 mm, with 2.0 mm cord, and the symbol panel forbids a metal blade and a plastic blade. Sound power on that nylon head is 87.8 dB(A). That figure is not a noise rating for a ConBlom, and it is not a tick against the 96 dB cap. A ConBlom 0061 review says normal cord does lawn edges and does not do thick rye. How the line feeds is the how to use a Makita strimmer page.

When Makita's own range steps up to a blade

The DUR190 manual allows a nylon head at 300 mm, a 3-tooth and a 4-tooth metal blade at 230 mm, and a plastic blade at 255 mm, with cord of 2.0–2.4 mm. Take the battery out before you change the tool. That permission stays on the DUR190. It does not move to a DUR192, or to a ConBlom because both cut grass. The next Makita step is a brush cutter. The DUR368L uses two 18 V packs. Widths on the sheet are 230, 255 and 350 mm, and the parts list includes a 4-tooth blade and a brush-cutter blade. Power Tool World listed a DUR368AZ body at £269.95 including VAT, with a nylon head in the box and blades listed separately. That is a different class. If the growth is woody and you have not used a brush cutter, hand the job over. The buying guide separates that class from an about £59.99 stick.

The discs in these listings

Five listings put a metal saw or a circular saw in the contents, in the seller's words. The AN01538 bullets list a plastic blade, a steel blade and a circular saw blade, at about £59.99, with a 9 in cut. One review says power drops with the big saw blade. More than one review says the guard was missing. A disc with no guard is a reason to leave the tool in the box. The H510-01 lists two circular saw blades on a 12 in stick at about £99.99, with no battery. Its nut tightens counter-clockwise. That is not Makita's M10 thread. Both Hengriacly listings put a 9 inch circular saw blade beside a tap-and-go head. The red width cell prints 10.0 with no unit. Do not read that as the saw's diameter. The Fiutazge is outside this disc list.

What not to fit

The Health and Safety Executive says stop supplying and stop using flail attachments of several linked metal parts, such as chains, on portable brush cutters. They can break up and throw metal. HSENI repeats that line. A one-piece blade the maker specifies is not that flail. A circular saw disc in a third-party carton is still not an accessory that maker approved for that shaft. Being in the box is not approval. A missing guard fails the same test. Noise rules cap a lawn trimmer up to 50 cm at 96 dB guaranteed sound power. These eight print no sound-power number, so you cannot say they meet the cap.

Common questions

Can I fit a metal blade to a DUR192?
No. The DUR192L manual limits the tool to a nylon head, 300 mm, with 2.0 mm cord. The symbol panel says never use a metal blade and never use a plastic blade. The DUR190 names metal and plastic blades at 230 mm and 255 mm, and that permission stays there. Taking the battery off before a change does not turn a DUR192 into a brush cutter.
Is a saw blade at about £59.99 a Makita brush-cutter blade?
No. The AN01538 bullets list a plastic blade, a steel blade and a circular saw blade. A Makita brush-cutter blade is a part Makita names for a model such as the DUR368, with the guard for that head. One AN01538 review says power drops with the big saw. Others say the guard was missing. A disc the seller added is not an approved Makita accessory for that shaft.
What is a chain flail, and why does HSE ban it?
In the HSE bulletin it is an attachment of several linked metal parts, such as chains, on a portable brush cutter. HSE says stop supplying and stop using them, because they can break up and throw metal. HSENI publishes the same warning. A single blade the manufacturer of your machine specifies, with the matching guard, is not that flail. A saw disc in a third-party carton is not automatically that specified blade.
Will nylon do brambles?
Nylon is the lawn-edge tool. A 0061 review says normal cord managed edges and did not manage thick rye, which is softer than brambles. A DUR192 stays on nylon by its manual. Woody growth is the DUR368 class, or someone who already uses a brush cutter. Fitting the saw disc from an Amazon kit is not the step Makita takes between those models.
Do I need two batteries for a DUR368?
Yes. The DUR368L uses two 18 V packs, not one pack on a DUR192. A body-only DUR368AZ can arrive with a nylon head and with blades as separate parts. One seller pack marked 21 V does not stand in for two LXT packs.
