Makita grass trimmer buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You have typed a Makita grass trimmer into amazon.co.uk and the prices in this comparison run from about £59.99 to about £119.99. The title mentions Makita. The brand cell says ConBlom, Fiutazge, GfsGsjzc, Hengriacly or YUTVCZO. This Makita grass trimmer buying guide checks the housing, the battery line and the job before you treat those words as one purchase. The eight cordless sticks are in our [Makita grass trimmer comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/makita-grass-trimmer). None is a DUR or UR model. Products Compared read those listings on 22 October 2026 and did not lab-test them. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What Makita means on this list

A Makita grass trimmer, in Makita UK's own range, is an 18 V LXT line trimmer such as the DUR190 or DUR192, or a corded UR3501. UK Planet Tools also lists a twin-18 V class and 40 V XGT, a different platform. None of those model codes is among these eight listings. The housings are ConBlom, Fiutazge, GfsGsjzc, Hengriacly and YUTVCZO. A bullet that names BL1830 or BL1850 is the seller's wording, not a test we ran. On the Fiutazge listing, UK reviews disagree about whether a Makita pack runs the tool. You can buy a third-party body if you know that is the carton. Do not price it as a DUR. The best Makita strimmer page applies one criterion here. It does not turn any row into a Makita.

Bare tool or kit

Three listings say a battery is not in the price. The ConBlom AN01538 highlight at about £59.99 says the battery is not included. A 2024 review describes two packs, and a June 2026 review says there are none. Those lines stay separate. The ZF303 at about £89.99 says no battery. The GfsGsjzc H510-01 at about £99.99 says there is no battery. The ConBlom 0061 at about £62.99 does not state a battery either way. Kits that include packs are the Fiutazge at about £98.85, both Hengriacly listings at about £119.98, and the YUTVCZO at about £119.99. Included is not genuine LXT. The YUTVCZO title says for a Makita battery and 21 V 4.0 Ah together. A pack that clicks and does nothing is the Makita 18V strimmer battery page.

If you want the Makita tool itself

Buy the Makita when the housing and the model code say Makita. The DUR192L manual rates the tool at 18 V DC and lists BL1815N, BL1820B, BL1830B, BL1840B, BL1850B and BL1860B, plus named Makita chargers. Use only those. If you already own a listed cartridge, a body-only DUR uses it. If you do not, add the pack and the charger before an Amazon kit looks expensive. An XGT pack will not slide onto an 18 V LXT trimmer. A BL1850 on the Power Tool World shelf was £55.95 including VAT, and a DC18RC charger £15.99, when that page was read. A bare about £59.99 body is not that bill.

Width, line and the job

For lawn edges you want nylon, not a brush cutter. Toolstation puts it that way: line for edges, a blade for brambles. Printed widths here are 9 in, 30 cm, 20 cm, 12 in and 25 cm. The Fiutazge cell has no width. The Hengriacly cells print 10.0 and 23 with no unit. Makita's DUR190U page prints 2.0 mm nylon, and the DUR190 manual prints 2.0–2.4 mm. Do not merge those with a 1.25 mm figure on one ITS kit page. The DUR192 forbids a metal blade and a plastic blade. If the growth is woody and a brush cutter is new to you, hand that patch over. None of the eight blocks prints a sound-power figure, so this page does not say they meet the 96 dB cap.

Common questions

Is this Amazon listing a Makita?
No, not in these listings. The brands are ConBlom, Fiutazge, GfsGsjzc, Hengriacly or YUTVCZO. A DUR or UR code is what Makita prints on its own trimmers, and none of those codes is here. A title that says the tool is for a Makita battery is a compatibility claim.
Should I buy the body only if I already have LXT packs?
A body-only DUR makes sense when you already own a cartridge its manual lists, such as a BL1850B, and a Makita charger from the same list. On these Amazon rows the bare price is narrower. The AN01538 highlight, the ZF303 size cell and the H510-01 bullets say you are not paying for a battery. Whether your Makita pack then runs that third-party body is a separate question, and the reviews do not agree.
What does a real DUR192LZ body cost outside this list?
Look at dealer pages, not the eight-row table. Toolstore UK showed £149.65 including VAT for a DUR192LZ body with a nylon head, strap and guard, and with no battery. PriceRunner's solo range was about £145 to £164.95. Kelkoo reported £163.95 on Amazon.co.uk on 19 August 2026. Those prices move, and they are not the about £59.99 to about £119.99 rows.
Is 21 V the same purchase as an 18 V LXT kit?
No. The DUR192L is rated 18 V DC and names specific BL cartridges. A title that says 21 V, or a bullet that says 18 V to 24 V, is the seller's wording. A five-cell pack reading about 21 V when full does not make a product branded 21 V into an LXT pack. This page does not tell you to put those packs on a DC18RC.
When is a brush cutter the next tool, not a bigger line head?
When the job is brambles or other woody growth. A DUR368-class cutter uses two 18 V packs and has blade parts on Makita's own sheet. A circular saw disc from one of these cartons is not that step. If you have not used a brush cutter, hand the woody patch to someone who has.
