Makita 18V strimmer battery

Updated: October 2026

The tool will not start, or it runs on the packs in the box and refuses the Makita packs you already own. A Makita 18V strimmer battery, on a real DUR, is a BL cartridge that model's manual lists. On the eight sticks in our [Makita grass trimmer comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/makita-grass-trimmer), the same words can mean an empty bay, a pair of 21 V packs, or a review that says a genuine pack does nothing. This page stays on that failure. Products Compared read the listings and Makita's battery wording on 22 October 2026. We did not lab-test the packs. The packs a Makita trimmer is built for

Makita UK prints 18 V for the DUR190U. The DUR192L manual rates that trimmer at 18 V DC and lists BL1815N, BL1820B, BL1830B, BL1840B, BL1850B and BL1860B, plus named Makita chargers. Only those. Others may cause injury or fire. A bullet that copies the BL names onto a ConBlom does not move the sentence across. A box printed 21 V is a different object. Genuine LXT packs are not marked 21 V or 24 V. A five-cell pack can rise towards about 21 V when full, and that does not turn a product branded 21V into a BL1850B. Body-only versus kit prices are on the buying guide.

What these listings put in the box

Three rows say the battery is not in the price. The AN01538 at about £59.99 says the battery is not included. A 2024 review describes two packs, and a June 2026 review says there are none. Leave that split as it is. The ZF303 at about £89.99 says no battery. The H510-01 at about £99.99 names BL1820 through BL1860B, excludes an undefined G-series, and ships no battery. One review says an 18 V drill pack ran it. Kits with packs are the Fiutazge at about £98.85, both Hengriacly listings at about £119.98, and the YUTVCZO at about £119.99. The YUTVCZO title says for a Makita battery and 21 V 4.0 Ah together, and names no BL model. Hengriacly bullets name BL packs and call the included packs 21 V. A dealer BL1850 was £55.95 including VAT and a DC18RC £15.99 when that page was read. Do not hang a YUTVCZO pack on that charger.

When a Makita pack does nothing

The Fiutazge fails in both directions in the reviews. One UK review says a Makita pack works. Two say a Makita pack does nothing, and that the included packs do nothing on a Makita tool. Another says the batteries do not work at all. Part number HY-08-0102 is not the Hengriacly HY-08. The red and grey Hengriacly share one review text: the tool is not a Makita, the nut would not fit, and the buyer returned it. A 21 V pack is not the BL1850B you already own. On the AN01538, one review says the buyer's Makita 18 V packs ran it, and another says DeWalt 18 V packs ran it. That DeWalt line is a review, not a reason to mix brands. Makita's caution of 10 January 2020 says non-genuine compatible packs void the warranty on the Makita tool and charger.

What to do next

If the empty bay is on a DUR, buy a cartridge the manual lists, sold as Makita. If the body is a ConBlom, GfsGsjzc or another brand here, a new genuine pack does not repair a fit the reviews already contradict. The best Makita strimmer page is the criterion if you are still choosing. A doubtful pack you believe is genuine can go to Makita's UK battery health check. That service is for Makita batteries, not a 21 V kit pack. Do not charge a swollen or unbranded pack to see if it recovers.

Common questions

Will my BL1850 run a third-party strimmer that lists it?
The listing can name it. That is a claim. On the Fiutazge, one review says a Makita pack works and two say it does nothing. On the AN01538, one 2026 review says the buyer's Makita packs ran it. The H510-01 names BL1820 through BL1860B, ships no battery, and one review says an 18 V drill pack ran it. Read those as separate reviews, not as a guarantee.
Are the kit batteries at about £119.99 genuine LXT packs?
The YUTVCZO title says the tool is for a Makita battery and that the packs are 21 V 4.0 Ah. The specification cell names no BL model. A review calls them Makita 21 V batteries, which is the reviewer's phrase. Genuine LXT packs are not marked 21 V or 24 V. Do not put those packs on a DC18RC, and do not expect a Makita warranty on them.
What did Fiutazge buyers report?
The reviews stay split. One says a Makita pack works. Two say a Makita pack does nothing, and that the included packs do nothing on a Makita tool. Another says the batteries do not work at all. The star line is 3.6 from 41. HY-08-0102 is not the Hengriacly HY-08. If you need a fit you can plan around, test this row before you depend on it, or leave it.
Does a non-genuine pack affect a Makita warranty?
Makita's 10 January 2020 caution says non-genuine compatible packs void the warranty on the Makita tool and charger. The 2025 UK terms exclude non-Makita parts. Batteries and chargers bought as Makita products are on a two-year term in those words. Registration can extend eligible tools towards three years. Confirm on the warranty page that the battery is not extended the same way.
Is 21 V just a full 18 V Makita pack?
A five-cell pack can read about 21 V when full and still be named 18 V. That does not make a product printed 21V into a BL1850B. Hengriacly and the YUTVCZO use 21 V as a seller label. Buy a listed BL cartridge if the tool is a DUR.
