Best Makita strimmer

Updated: October 2026

You searched for the best Makita strimmer and landed on a table where every brand cell is someone else. Which? names a DUR189Z and a DUR368AZ without a score this page can quote. None of that is the eight listings in our [Makita grass trimmer comparison](/hub/lawn-and-garden-equipment/makita-grass-trimmer). If you mean a Makita, the best Makita strimmer is a DUR body from a dealer. Inside this comparison the top pick is a third-party kit under a narrow criterion. Products Compared set that criterion from the listings on 22 October 2026 and did not lab-test the tools. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Best Makita is not a row in this table

UK round-ups use best Makita for a DUR model. Idealo's offers for a DUR190LZX9 ran from £161.49 to £207.09 for a body without batteries, with a 300 mm line, a 230 mm blade and 6,000 rpm. That page prints 77 dB sound pressure and 91.6 dB sound power. Makita's launch page uses 77 dB as pressure, not as a legal sound-power mark. MyToolShed listed one DUR190L kit at £289.99 including VAT. That is one retailer, and the model is not a listing here. Which? and Gardeners' World, which mentions a 45-minute charge on a DUR181RT, are talking about Makita models, not ConBlom, Hengriacly, Fiutazge, GfsGsjzc or YUTVCZO. A 4.2-star third-party kit is not a Makita test winner. The buying guide sets out bare tool versus kit.

The pick inside this comparison

The top pick in this comparison is the red Hengriacly HY-08 at about £119.98. Stars are 4.2 from 41. The bullets include two batteries and a charger and name Makita BL packs. Grass Trimmers rank is 64, ahead of the grey twin. The label is not a claim that the tool is a Makita, and it is not a lab result. The width cell prints 10.0 with no unit. Do not treat that as centimetres or inches. Included packs are described as 21 V beside the 18 V claim. The written reviews are the same text as the grey listing, at the same price. Do not add the counts. A shared review says the nut would not fit and the buyer returned it.

Who should skip it

Skip the red HY-08 if the housing has to say Makita, or if you need the two colours to be two samples. The grey listing is 2.36 kg, with a width cell of 23 and no unit, and rank 87. Its bullets claim a seller span of 18 V to 24 V. The review text does not change with the colour. Skip it if you want the lowest body price and you already have a pack to try. That row is the ConBlom AN01538 at about £59.99, 3.7 from 79, the largest pool here. It is the best value on price and review count, not a Makita. The highlight says the battery is not included. A Makita pack that does nothing belongs on the Makita 18V strimmer battery page.

If the pick has to be a Makita

Leave this table if the housing has to say Makita. A DUR192LZ body at Toolstore UK was £149.65 including VAT, with a nylon head and no battery, and PriceRunner's solo band was about £145 to £164.95. None of those figures is a row here. XGT is a different platform. Which? has tested a DUR189Z and refers to a DUR368AZ. Until a score is visible, do not quote one. The YUTVCZO HY-13 is also 4.2, from 19 ratings, with 21 V packs in the title. That does not beat the red HY-08 on this criterion. Stars and the size of the pool answer different questions.

Common questions

What is the best Makita strimmer in the UK?
This page will not call a third-party kit the best Makita strimmer in Britain. Which? lists the DUR189Z and refers to the DUR368AZ without a score we can quote. Dealer DUR190 and DUR192 bodies are the Makita class, at prices outside these listings. Inside the comparison, the top pick is the red Hengriacly under a stated criterion, and that tool is not a Makita.
Why not the grey Hengriacly as well?
The grey listing has the same model name, the same about £119.98, the same 4.2 from 41, and the same written reviews. The cells differ: grey paint, 2.36 kg, width 23 with no unit, and rank 87. Adding 41 and 41 would count one text twice. The grey row stays in the comparison. It does not get a second top-pick mark.
Is the £59.99 ConBlom the one if I already have batteries?
It is the best value row if you want the lowest price here and can live with 3.7 from 79. The highlight says no battery. One 2026 review says the buyer's Makita 18 V packs ran it. Another says DeWalt 18 V packs ran it, which is a review, not permission to mix brands. A 2024 review describes two packs. Missing-guard and cut-out complaints are in the same pool.
What should I buy if I want an actual Makita?
A DUR body from a UK dealer, then a genuine LXT pack if you do not have one. Indicative figures, not rows in our table: a DUR192LZ body around £145 to £164.95, £149.65 including VAT at Toolstore UK with no battery, and one DUR190L kit at £289.99 including VAT. Add a BL pack and charger on a bare tool. XGT is a different platform.
Did Which? test these eight listings?
Nothing in the sources we used says Which? or Gardeners' World tested them. Which? names the DUR189Z and the DUR368AZ. Gardeners' World mentions a 45-minute charge on a DUR181RT. The eight listings are ConBlom, Fiutazge, GfsGsjzc, Hengriacly and YUTVCZO. Do not borrow a score that is not printed for you to read.
